This document provides a reflection on the process of creating magazine covers and spreads for a football magazine. It describes applying background images and adjusting colors and lighting. Cutting out images and adding shadows is discussed. Various design elements like titles, headers, and lines are added. For the spreads, images are precisely placed and colors are used symbolically. Text on different topics is added to provide information and entertainment about football. Grids help organize the layout. Overall the reflection outlines the iterative process of composing visual designs and integrating images and text.

3. Process
At the start magazine cover production, I began to apply a background image from which I took
from a photo I had taken from a Leeds United game because not only did it look good when I
used a gaussian blur on it but it also linked-in with the over subject of the magazine, which is
football, as well as the corrilation between the fact that the staudium for the background is Leed
United's and some of the information within the poster talks about the Championship too (Leeds
United's league), so it was quite a fitting background for the foregrounds of the information that
would be put in front of it.
After the application of the raw background I decided that I would spark up the colouration of
the the background because it was looking a bit dark so I decided to alter the brightness can
contrast using the curves and vibrance. Althought it made the background look better, it was still
missing something so I thought of adding textural overlays, which didn't do much too. Then I
thought of adding a lens flare with alterations of the opacity & blending modes to see if it made
the background better, which it did as I found the most perfect fit from the tools within
Photoshop, thus allowing me to move on from the background because I was very happy with
the final result of it's appearance.
Continuing forward, I began to cut-out an image of me kicking using the pen tool so that I could
efficiently get rid of the background of the image layer so that I was just left with the focus point
of the image, which was me so that I could place the layer of me on top of the background so
that it was just me over the background of the football pitch within a stadium. After adding the
image of me to the cover I decided that I wanted myslef to have a shadow to make the cover
look more sumpreme and just that little bit more realistic so that it looked better. After thinking
of this idea, I began to duplicate the origional image of me, then make the duplicate of me fully
black, then blur the darkened image and then finally tranfrom (downward stretch) & rearrange
the layers so that it caused a shadow on the floor of me, in a manner that is comparable to a real
shadow so that it made the image of me within the magazine cover have less pseudorealism,
which is what I was going for when adding a shadow.
Then I began to add the first bit of text to the magazine cover, which was my title because I had
previously, before starting my cover had the idea of making a title with an added tint of style.
After typing in my, "GOAL!", I decided to rasterize the layer so that I could edit a non-text layer
because I there's less limitations when it’s a non-text layer, which was great for producing this
title because then I added a football in replace of an, "O" because it fit well with the overall
aethetic of the sport of football and it also looked good in the outcome of the edited image

4. Process
Carrying on, I began to add, "Harry Allinson: text with a black stroke, to make the white pop-out more as
both colours contrast well with each other. Then I added text saying, "OFFICIAL TRANSERS!", at the bottom,
as the header, because I wanted that text to stand out as it is persuasive language to use for a front cover for
a football magazine hence fans like the gossip of players joining new clubs, as new players can be game
changers for a club. After that I added a wavy red line because it looked great with a darken blending mode
as it merged with the dead space of the background of the stadium & set myself up to add elements of
information ontop of it too. After adding the red wavy image I added text about a popular Spurs transfer and
text stating that there would be, "Exclusive Information", within the magazine, thus making the magazine
cover appear more alluring to the eye as it teases the potential of novelty and entertaining informtaion.
Then, behind the image of me kicking the football I added text, "Ultimtae Team Team of the week",
expressing the new edition of one of the element of the popular game FIFA 20 which is also eye catching,
especially for my demogrphic as it will probably be appealing for a great deal of the audience. I also made
the text golden/yellow to draw the viewer of the magazine cover's eyes towards the golden football above it
and the text box below so that it links with the other colours on the cover thus making the magazine cover
look more interesting.

5. Magazine Double Page Spread

6. Process
At the start of the production of my double page spread I beagn to
add the images first into the spread, using a grid squares so that I
could percisely place my images into my spread in orderly fashion so
that it looked organised and alligned within the pages. I first applied
images to the first half of my spread, which were screenshoted
images off of the team of the week from the game FIFA 20, matches
from a champions league game and images of me in two different
actions, one of which (The kicker) is an action directally influenced by
football which I thought was a good touch to add hence it links with
the general topic of the magazine at hand.
With the two images myself I used a pen tool in photoshop so that I
could carfully cut out the relivant sections of what I wanted from the
raw image so that it was just left with my body in a certain movement
of my choice so that I would have more freedom to do what I wanted
with the image as it was a selected portion of the origional full
unedited image. I also decide to use curve to alter
contrast/brightness so that it stands out & I also desaturated the
green hoodie, using the saturation, brightness & hue tool so that I
could make it all grey because I thouht it looked less obnoxious.
Similarly, used a somewhat similar technique to desaturate specific
areas of the champions league match image as I had to rub-out, using
the erase tool, the desaturated image's players & ball to bring out the
layer colours from below the desaturated layer which was saturated
so that it would create the appearance that the only colour in the
image is the players and the ball because it make the focal point of
the image more noticiable and make the overall image as a whole
look more interesting to look at, visually

7. I began to add background colours with a tint of blended texture to
make the overall spread look less dull and more interesting to look
at. The colours uses were symbolic of the primary colouration of the
topic within the informational area, the yellow/gold area represents
rich & wealth which is why it is near the team of the week because
the team has players who have been upgraded and thus are more
expensive, the Championship section is in blue because the EFL
(English Football league) and Sky Bet have a lot to do with the
league and have blue on their logos, so I decided it would be a good
idea to add light blue in the backgroud so that the black text would
pop out from the page. The identical symbolism is also appliciable to
the dark blue background of the images of me next to the section of
information about the Champions League because the Champions
League also uses a lot of dark blue.
Finally, for my first double page spread of my magazine I began to
add my paragraphs of text in different areas of my double page
spread, talking about different elements of football so that the
magazine spread didn't lack interesting and entertaing information
about football, so that the product wasn't too dull.

At the start of production of my second double page spread of my
magaizne, I began to add an image that I took of a studium that I took a
photo of from back in the day because it suits the theme of my subject
perfectly and also it looked great once I added a tint of blur to make it a
little bit less obnoxious as well as a brightness decrease so that I layer
above white text so that it would stand out and a slight saturation
decrease so that it would allow for the above layers to be more notciable
then the background because I didn't want the backgrounds colours to get
in the way of the fore ground image because I needed the more essential
and relivant to the text's information layers to be more visible.
After adding the background for my second spread I began to add square
grids into the spread on Photoshop so that I could add images in sections
of the overall workspace as well as having a better understanding of where
the open areas were so that I could apply text in a way that would allow
me to be aware of the amount of space that was available to be used for
text and images on the spread so that it was organised for my work on the
software. From there I started to add my images of beer, the premier
league table and the Qatar world cup stadium because I knew what I was
going to writed about previouly as I had done research on what I was
going to write about for my research. The images that I had added for my
second final spread for my magazine were all altered using curve so that I
could find the best suited brightness to contrast ratio of set image so that
it would be best fit for the magazine spread.

10. Process
I firstly began adding the title texts to the various subjects of
what I wanted to talk about within my double page spread so
that when someone would look within the double page spread
they would be able to know straight away what the large bulk
of text would be about because there is a clear title telling the
readers of the product what is is about which easily helps
them understand what a certain part of the magazine is about.
Finally, I began to add the text referring to many different
topics about the Qatar world cup, Premier league transfers
and Qatars Alcohol rules because that’s what I had previously
set out to do, to apply to the magazine double page spread, so
therefore I decided to add the text, going in depth about the
different topics about Qatar and Premier league transfers so
that my audience can ponder and learn about avrious different
information around football. For my magazine's double page
spread I used a standard text font because I thought, since
football is such a universe sport and im not trying to pander to
any specific sect of an element of football, I thought it wasn't
very nessercary, thus as to why a specific and/or wacky
text was not included.
