Analysis Of James Baldwin s The Great Gatsby
When individuals hold hatred in their minds, they will be more aggressive to others, especially to the
higher level authority. In James Baldwin s story, he is not happy with the white people s power. He is
full of the hatred. When he purposely went to the non colour restaurant, he tries to challenge the
higher levels. Baldwin writes, I pretended not to have understood her, hoping to draw her closer ... I
realized that she would never come any closer and that I would have to strike from a distance. He
wants to know why the whites are the stronger group, why the whites can destroy his hopes. However,
when he found out the whites are weaker than him but still having more powers, he turns his hatred
into violence. Baldwin writes, I picked this up and hurled it with all my strength at her. She ducked
and it missed her and shattered against the mirror behind the bar. He is angry and being violence, and
those violence comes out from his hates. When people looking down on him, his despairs bitterness
and hatred make him want to get the respects from the higher authority. He was waiting for the higher
authority to throw him out, but the reality makes him even more upset. Relating to the cops in the
Freddie Gray, the reason of their aggressiveness is also about getting respects. The policemen who
worked at inner city will afraid of local community. Those policemen has despair and bitterness inside
of them, because they can be in dangerous by just going to the work. They work at

Midsummer Night Dream Venus And Adonis Analysis
Iyanna Penigo
Ms. Chirat
Period 4
May 13, 2017 In the works of Midsummer s Night Dream, Venus and Adonis, and, Shakespeare uses
themes, motifs, allusions, and imagery to suggest his audience reread and deeply analyze confusing
passages several times to fully understand his masterpieces. In the play, A Midsummer s Night Dream
begins with Theseus, Duke of Athens, preparing for his marriage to Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons,
with a four day festival. Egeus, a citizen of Athens, goes to see Theseus with a complaint against his
daughter: although Egeus has promised Hermia in marriage to Demetrius, who loves her, Lysander has
won Hermia s heart and refuses to obey her father and marry Demetrius. Theseus speaks to Hermia,
warning her to expect to be sent to a nunnery or put to death if she doesn t obey her father s wishes.
Lysander interrupts, accusing Demetrius of being fickle in love, saying he was once engaged to
Hermia s friend, Helena but abandoned her after he laid eyes on Hermia. (Shakespeare, Act I Scene i)
Demetrius, Egeus, Hippolyta, and Theseus take off leaving Hermia alone with Lysander. While given
the time to be alone, Hermia and Lysander create a plan to be married at her house, because the manor
is outside of Athens they would be free from the Athenian law. Later in the scene, Helena enters the
room, lovesick and deeply depressed because Demetrius no longer loves her. From the Outset,
Shakespeare subtly displays the lovers as a group out of balance, a

My Semi-Final Game
After a long soccer season of all wins, the New Prague U13 girls soccer team decide we would try to
go to state. That means we had to play a few games to get a spot. We won two previous games. That
meant we had to play one more to see if we would make it into state.
As we drove to shakopee for our semi final game, I was very nervous. If we won this game, we would
go to state in Rochester.
We got to the field and I said See you later! to my mom as she dropped me off and went to look for a
parking spot. I went to my teammates who were nervous and excited. When our coach got there, we
went on the field to start warmups.
After warmups, my coaches gave the team a pep talk. This team is very mean and good. You guys beat

The Jewish Passover
What is the greatest gift one can receive? Most would say it is money, or clothes, or even a 50 dollar
gift card to Starbucks. But what is it really? Sometimes we don t really realize that that we receive
gifts every day, but the ones on special occasions like Christmas or Easter. That is why the greatest gift
anyone can receive is food since it s culturally important, not everyone has it, and we can t live
without it.
Food is culturally is important because many cultures indulge in making lavish foods for special
occasions from great feasts in American and Islamic countries, to the treats served for Indian special
occasions. Food can also be symbolic. When thinking symbolically about food The Jewish Passover

Essay about Local Economic Development Incentives in the US
Local Economic Development Incentives in the US
1. Description of the Issue Local economic development incentives constitute essential aspects of
urban development economic policies. Such incentives are meant to enhance the development of cities
that are considered underdeveloped. The enticements assume different forms. However, the common
ones are the policies for providing tax incentives together with improvement of infrastructure
(Anderson and Wassmer Bidding for Business 82). Government provides enticements for financial
development in different ranks starting from home and state echelons to countrywide ranks.
Fundamentally, economic incentives refer to the cash and or near cash aid that is provided by local,
state, and/or national ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, cost effectiveness of local economic development incentives that are offered to
metropolitan areas such as Detroit is crucial in speeding the process of improving the livelihoods and
security amongst metropolitan urban populations.
3. Background of the Issue The challenges of inducing development in metropolitan cities in the US
date back to 1936 when Mississippi became the first state to develop policies for encouraging
industrial development by private stakeholders. Such public policies were sanctioned by the state that
deployed industrial development bonds to achieve this endeavor. Since then, many states and local
governments deploy economic incentives such as IBDs, tax exemptions , TIFAs, enterprise zones
(EZ), general obligation bonds, and local manufacturing revenue bonds among others (Bradshaw and
Blakely 235). The issue is whether these incentives are cost effective in achieving their desired
outcomes.
The above issue has attracted criticism and support from different economic scholars. For instance,
Peters and Fisher claim that such incentives need to be scrapped since subsidization of new
investments has the implication of attracting immigrants who take up jobs, thus

Self-Delusion In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
1. Self delusion seems to be an affliction that affects many of the characters in the play. Choosing any
two characters, show how and explain why self delusion is a hindrance to developing a true, honest
sense of self. Use two or three specific examples and relevant quotes from the text to support your
argument.
Self delusion is the act of deceiving one s self, in the play Death of a Salesman we see self delusion
taking place between two characters which are Willy and his son Happy. In the play self delusion is a
hindrance to developing a true, honest sense of self because they are lying about the person that they
truly are. We see throughout the play Happy and Willy not grasping reality and mainly exaggerating
who they are and what they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Happy s self delusions come from wanting to exceed his father s expectations in hopes that one day
his father would approve. Since Happy had always listened to his father s over exaggerated stories it is
possible that he himself learned to over exaggerate his own so that he could appear well off and
successful. One of Happy s self delusions is portraying that he is successful in his job, he claims to be
the assistant buyer but in reality he is the assistant to the assistant You big blow, are you the assistant
buyer? You re one of the two assistants to the assistant, aren t you? (pg.131). This fits the theme of self
delusion because Happy cannot seem to grasp reality and instead hopes that people will believe his
eccentric job title. Another self delusion that Happy seems to create is embellishing the stories about
his affairs with most women and how a lot of women want him because he is a womanizer. Happy
sounds proud of himself when speaking about how he has ruined the lives of the women that he has
had sexual relations with because they happened to be married. Another self delusion that Happy
keeps repeating is that he is going to get married. Happy is a womanizer and most likely is not going
to get married anytime soon in the play because he seems to enjoy the company of a lot of woman
even though he feels lonely. Happy telling his father that he is going to get married is so that he could
reach his father s standards and so that his father could realize that he is getting his life in order and all
that he is really missing is a wife. Happy s self delusions come into play when you see him mimicking
his father s behavior and

Akhenaten Research Paper
Akhenaten Peel paragraphs
Describe the life of Akhenaten
Akhenaten was a pharaoh of Egypt in the 18th Dynasty. He was born in Egypt and died in Egypt. His
birth name was Amenhotep however after he was named pharaoh, his name changed as it represented
the sun god of Aten, Living spirit of aten , which was a new religion at the time. Akhenaten ruled
Egypt for 17 years and was also known for changing the religion of ancient Egypt and building
Amarna (a city in Egypt), in 1346 BC. In his first year of being a pharaoh, he built a temple dedicated
to Aten. In his third year, he celebrated a Sed festival and the place he celebrated at was the temple
that he built. During that time, he was married to Queen Nefertiti and had 9 children, their names were
Tutankhamun, Ankhesenamun, Smenkhkare, Meritaten, Meketaten, Neferneferure, Setepenre,

religion for his people and the Israelites. Egyptian people couldn t worshipped Aten but they had to
worship the king and the royal family which meant that Akhenaten had the most power influence in
the religious life of Egypt. For that reason, Akhenaten s thinking was very politically different. He
ordered people to erase Amun, an Egyptian god and his consort Mut. He removed monuments and
documents from Egypt s empire. As consequent of this, Akhenaten s name was removed from the
pharaohs list because he did not follow the traditional of ancient God s rule. He was often called the

The Dna And The Nucleus Of Cell York
Danny the DNA lived with Mack the mRNA in the nucleus of Cell York, they were brothers, after all.
Danny was always a stay at home molecule, while Mack was always interacting with others,
especially his coworkers Tony the tRNA and Rick the rRNA. Even though Danny looked lazy, he
always was the center of attention within the nucleic brothers. Everyone made up stories of how he
did all the work in the nucleus, while Mack apparently did little to nothing and, before the evolution of
Cell York, this was true. The main job the nucleic brothers has were to code and send information to
the ribosomes in order to make proteins for Cell York businesses. Before the evolution, Danny coded
and sent the information to make proteins, while Mack was only a cheerleader on the side. However,
when Danny had a break from delivering, he stayed in bed all day on his laptop, only coding what he
needed to do. He soon never left the house, all his necessities were in the nucleus. As time went on,
Danny grew larger than he used to be, and less active. His double helixes doubled in size, as well as
his bases. Now that the break is over, Danny will have to go back to his job, but with great difficulty.
Hey Dan, your break is over, you need to send all those codes! Mack yelled as he prepared Danny s
supplies. But I don t want to! Danny whined, let the other guy do his job, and went back to sleep. That
guy is gone now, it s your job to deliver codes now! Mack became frustrated and kept on

Summary Of The Wicked Witch Of Darkwood
It all happened when my prodigy brother Sam was kidnapped by the wicked witch of Darkwood. It
was early in the morning when I woke up and discovered that Sam was missing. I rushed to the front
door calling Sam s name frantically, knowing that he would not be there. A witch named Rachel had
wanted us to take him to her castle but knowing that she was evil, my family had refused. She became
furiously angry and threatened that that would not be the last we heard of her. She had had an evil plan
that needed someone like Sam because he was a prodigy because he was so smart. I quickly called the
members of our gang, the Rescuers, of which I had been nominated leader. My best friends, Jack,
Otto, and David answered the phone. We met together in the Cul de Sac in our neighborhood and I
quickly told them our dilemma. Immediately, after I was done talking, we set off on the road leading
toward the misty beach. We jogged until we could not run anymore and finally reached the railroad
which went directly to Rachel s castle, Darkwood. The mist was terrible, and we could barely see in
front of us. We found an abandoned railroad car and quickly jumped in; it was about 7:00 AM. As we
sped through the dark, misty air, we could hear the waves lapping up against the railroad track. If there
was an answer, I d find it there. A couple minutes went by and Otto was already complaining. Are we
almost there yet? I m hungry. Well I m sorry that my brother was taken by the evil

Right from the early years of the decade of 30 in the last century, Sakichi Toyoda has realized the

Barrier By Noblemart Dance Analysis
Critique # 1: Barrier (Excerpt) by NobleMotion Dance One of the most important attributes for a
choreographer to possess is passion (Ambrosio). Choreographers can have a little bit of a mix with
contemporary, hip hop, ballet and even ballroom postures to make a theme into a dance. In this
excerpt Barrier by NobleMotion Dance, a powerful contemporary dance of movement expressing
romance in the couple. The music and the performance of the dancers is set up in a steamy and sultry
romance between two lovers. The couple dances by expressing their emotions by pushing, shoving
and smashing their partner against the wall in some kind of thrilling affection. I be pointing out that

Police Accountability vs. Police Independence Essay
Introduction
The debate regarding police independence versus police accountability has been hotly contested since
at least the 1960s.1 At the heart of the debate are questions relating to the degree and manner of
oversight to which police forces should be subjected, while maintaining the independence of those
polices forces to carry out their duties free from undue political (or other) interferences. This essay
examines the principles underlying the independence of the office of constable , the notion of
responsible government, and how the interaction between these two ideas has been characterised in
the literature. It will be demonstrated that police independence and responsible government (that is,
police accountability) are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Responsible government
Whereas the principle of the independence of the office of the constable serves to ensure that police do
not become the slave of any state or interest group, the principle of responsible government can be
usefully conceived of as ensuring that police remain the servants of the public at large. Contrary to the
idea that the police office is not a servant of anyone, save of the law itself 6, responsible government
and police accountability measures aim to ensure that police forces are answerable to the very
communities which vest in the police force the right and responsibility for upholding the law.
In practice, police accountability measures are usually tied into extensive governance frameworks,
laws and procedures, including: administrative mechanisms for handling citizen complaints; civil
actions and criminal prosecutions in the courts; the exclusion of improperly obtained evidence in
criminal trials; internal

Dr Faustus as a Tragedy
Q.1. Discuss Dr Faustus as a tragedy.
Tragedy Definition
Aristotle defines a tragedy as a representation of an action which is important, complete and limited in
length. It is enacted not recited and by arousing pity and fear, it gives an outlet to emotions of this
type.
However, for the Elizabethans, more specifically for Marlowe and Shakespeare, tragedy is not a
restrictive view of human excellence or weakness as the Greeks are often inclined to present but an
affirmative view of human aspirations whose pursuit brings a glory to the definition of a man.
Struggle, conflict, suffering and failure may be the inescapable attendants but the human spirit is not
stifled in its pursuits by what attends to them. The ability to withstand ... Show more content on

Divinity adieu:
These metaphysics of magicians,
And necromantic books are heavenly:
The Strength of theTragedy
The play is a human tragedy for not only is Faustus tragically constituted in his boundless ambitions
but, at the same time, the play questions the effectiveness of the cultural aspirations that shape his
ambitions. Consequently, the play provides a complex interaction between the human dimensions of
the dramatic character and the ambiguities and ambivalences of the cultural situation the character is
placed in.
Yet while the play seems to offer a very basic Christian message that one should avoid temptation and
sin, and repent if one cannot avoid temptation and sin its conclusion can be interpreted as straying
from orthodox Christianity in order to conform to the structure of tragedy.
In a traditional tragic play, as pioneered by the Greeks and imitated by William Shakespeare, a hero is
brought low by an error or series of errors and realizes his or her mistake only when it is too late. In
Christianity, though, as long as a person is alive, there is always the possibility of repentance so if a
tragic hero realizes his or her mistake, he or she may still be saved even at the last moment. But
though Faustus, in the final, wrenching scene, comes to his senses and begs for a chance to repent, it is

Happiness is a state of mind that most people typically urge themselves to achieve, to somehow

assure the happiness of a community controlled by a totalitarian government and how this government
creates a false sense of stability in order to manipulate its citizens minds thus creating this Brave New

Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, reveals that when a society, such as the World State, focuses too
much on stability, it derails its people s individuality and freedom and that ultimately avoiding
conflict, risk or change doesn t come free, the cost is individual freedom and it is a great cost to pay
for the simple desire of stability. Huxley s novel takes place in the future, one in which it is acceptable
to condition citizens to maximize the overall efficiency of the entire society as opposed to the
efficiency of the individual. This future s biological engineering reaches an all time high level; people
are no longer born naturally , children are now decanted in bottles and pre natal conditioning is not
only acceptable but necessary as a means to limit human behavior. The theme of dehumanized life is a
central one in the novel, perhaps the most important one, but one critic argues that although it is
evident that this theme dominates the pages of Brave New World, the characters of this novel prove to
be more human like than one might have thought at a first glace. Peter Edgerly Firchow of the
Bucknell University Press argues that:
The characters of Brave New World are not merely made of cardboard and papier mâché, that they are

Compare And Contrast Byronic Heros From Hamlet
A Byronic hero is an antihero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare
wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even though
these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in
common: their main characters were Byronic heroes. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from
Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because
each has a troubled backstory, each is an anti hero, both are criminals, have high intelligence and
useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to
experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s
father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his
mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White is fifty year
old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up every day.
He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife
and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a
multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousand dollars. Then to
make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday.

Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme Comparison
When one thinks of the 17th century theatre, one might imagine low quality plays, maybe with
opera, inappropriate jokes and inferior special effects, due to a lack of technology and low resources.
However, when imagining twenty first century films an individual often invisions high graphics,HD,3

century. It was about a middle class man who had recently come into new money and his attempt to
live the noble man lifestyle. Although these two time periods are viewed at being complete opposites
of each other, through analysis one can gather that though they are different, some similarities exist. In

Characteristics Of Hard Discount
I. Hard discount model
a. Creation and development of this model in Germany
Firstly, I think that it is necessary to define what hard discount is to better understand how this model
works and how it has changed through the time. Hard discount store is a store that sells mainly food in
free service and this business model is also characterized by its low prices, small retail space and a
limited assortment of products. We can find some brands in hard discounters, but it represents a
minority. The reduced staff and the versatility of this one is another characteristic of this business
model.
Hard discount found its origins in Germany at the end of the 40s. Launched by the Albrecht brothers,
founders of Aldi, this new way of consuming is a success in Germany since the late 60s and for the
rest of Europe in the 80s. This revolution has known success in Germany with brands such as Norma,

It is a way of life in Germany. There is no the cultures of food or gastronomy like in France, so it s not

hard discount model was clearly in the 90s. In 2009, the 2 Germans companies were in the top 10
global grocery retailers, so it is significant of the success of this revolution.
Hard discount needs a special organization. This business model has to respect some rules, such as
prices below average, few marketing, few decoration, a small staff, a maximum of 800 product
references and simple rays.
Who has never felt this feeling of extreme simplicity when entering in a discounter? Consumers can
clearly identify when he is in a discounter. All these characteristics can be found in each brand of

This is the story of Winnie Foster. But not the story you know from Tuck Everlasting. This is an
alternate ending, where Winnie decides to wait until she is seventeen, drink the water, and live forever.
My story picks up right before Winnie pours the spring water over the toad in the original story.
And then, on an impulse, she turned and ran into the cottage, up to her room, to the bureau drawer
where she had hidden Jesse s bottle the bottle of water from the spring. In a moment she was back
again. The toad still squatted where she dropped it, the dog still waited at the fence. Winnie pulled the

Privacy law stipulates what is public and what is private data. IS Security is required to comply with

Prostitution and Its Unfortunate Aftermath Essay
Prostitution and Its Unfortunate Aftermath
Life..the greatest adventure. This statement, so powerful yet for many teens who enter the dark world

This life of despair can lead to a lifetime of pain and suffering (Farley www.prostitutionresearch.com).
Many teenagers resort to prostitution out of desperation.
The unfortunate popularity of teen prostitution has led to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, physical and

anyone(Farley www.prostitutionresearch.com). Along with having many sexual partners, studies show
that 80% of prostitutes have been raped. Also, studies show an even more dejecting fact, the average
prostitute gets raped eight to ten times a year(Farley www.prostitutionresearch.com). Moreover,
emotional abuse also results in PTSD. This type of abuse can, sometimes, traumatize and be even
more psychologically scarring than sexual and physical abuse. In the world of prostitution, the pimps
frequently emotionally abuse the prostitutes. The multiple threats on their lives and the constant
humiliation that they suffer leads 75% of prostitutes in the escort service to attempt suicide, 15% of
which complete it(Farley www.prostitutionresearch.com). The pimps place fear in the prostitute to
intimidate them as a form of control. They may also threaten the lives or threaten to injure the lives of

becoming a prostitute causes them to lower or compromise their moral standards. Along those same
lines, when prostitutes get emotionally abused, they become stripped of all physical and emotional

Implementation Of A Non Breakable Encryption Algorithm
There has been a need for a non breakable encryption algorithm desired after since the establishment
of Cryptography was first matured. However, an algorithm is advised to be immune as long as there
has not been found susceptibility through cryptanalysis. Symmetric key block ciphers abide as the
largest and critical aspect in many cryptographic systems. Independently, they add confidentiality. As
a central construction block, their adaptability grants the manufacturing of pseudorandom stream
ciphers, number generators, hash functions, and MAC s. Moreover they serve as an essential
component in message verification methods, symmetric key signature schemes, entity confirmation
protocols, and data purity. Although Block ciphers are very powerful objects their design flaws and
complex interface opens the door for wider attacks.
No block cipher is equipped for all functions, even one contributing an immense state of asylum. This
is a result of impending accommodations needed in practical applications, containing those arising
from, for example, rate requirements and memory limitations such as data size, cache, code size, and
memory, forces imposed by implementation platforms such as (e.g., software, hardware, chipcards),
and distinct resistance of applications to properties of differing modes of operation. In addition,
efficiency ought typically to be traded off against security. Hence it is helpful to have a number of
contender ciphers from which to draw.

that culture and concepts of sociology are important to understand it. In the movie Slumdog

Many people wonder what it is about college that causes such a tremendous weight gain for students.

The Sandwich Factory
The sandwich factory

The short story The Sandwich Factory is written by Jason Kennedy in 2007.
The plot takes place at a sandwich factory in 1994.. The narrator of the story, who we follow through
the story is 1st person narrator, we gets his own view of the factory. One thing we should remember
while reading the story is that we hear the thoughts and opinions from his point of view, so that doesn
t necessarily that it s all true.
We know that he is a male only because someone at the factory wants to find him a female partner.
He works at the factory, so we meet him there.
He gives us an impression that the employees are no longer considered as humans nor individuals.
They are just one of many. The narrator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the words of our main character, he would run around with a knife, threatening him. It scared him,
but at the same time it wasn t a big deal at all, since he would casually ask customers if he had a knife
in his back. Apparently the mad man drove a forklift, and that was a big deal. That meant he got more
that double the payment compared to the other workers at the factory. He was also said to have forklift
swagger, with a certain way of moving. In that way, our main character is not like the others at all, he
wants to get out and he doesn t think he is being treated right. The story ends with him leaving the
factory and never coming back. There are definitely some symbols in the text. For example when he
mentions the sandwiches. The narrator is mad about his job, his co workers and the managers. He
compares it to the tomatoes in the sandwich, stinging his soul with its acid. Thereafter he dreams of a
place where he could stand and silently watch the tomatoes passing him, by with a note of a agony at
the conveyer belt. I have chosen the text nice work, by David Lodge and the picture Relativity, which
is painted by M.C. Escher. I find the picture and the text very comparable, because they re both very
monotone and gray. The picture illustrates the described factory. There is no individualism, no

Character Analysis Of Shinji Ikari
That all being said, let s discuss each character in further detail to provide better insight as to why
their faults are necessary plot devices to tell a larger story (i.e. the central story).
Shinji The reserved, self loathing protagonist, Shinji Ikari, epitomizes the introvert personality by
concealing his true identity a la the hedgehog s dilemma (first introduced by philosopher Arthur
Schopenhauer). Just a brief reminder for anyone who hasn t watched the show for quite some time, as
this concept is fundamental in understanding our main character, the premise of this theory goes as
follows: forging intimate relationships, despite our best intentions, causes shared emotional pain;
therefore, provoking guarded behavior and overall weaker relationships due to the lack of intimacy.
This explains Shinji s maladroit encounters with female characters in the show, and his reluctancy to
solidify lasting relationships. He has become content to live in the imaginary shell that is his happy
place, believing that expressing his true self will cause unintended harm to others and himself. Hideaki
Anno, to his credit, overlaid his permeating depression into a fourteen year old character, that, for the
most part, comes through as feeling authentic. This is not your prototypical action hero who possesses
an indomitable will to overcome any, and all challenges; rather, Shinji, on countless occasions, shows
signs of regression, a trait that is synonymous with the human condition. He

Second, God promises to make the faithful ride on the heights of the land.113 The precise meaning of
the heights of the land is highly ambiguous. Knight claims that these heights are where God places his

Whitman grew up in New York and was a member of a large family, having eight siblings. Only four

Whitman deplored slavery and was even fired from his job as an editor for his outspoken views on the
subject. Whitman saw Lincoln as someone who wanted to put an end to slavery and as someone who
would put his words into action. Whitman took a great interest in The Civil War. His brother served in
the war and Whitman volunteered as a nurse at an army hospital in Washington, D.C., where he
dressed the wounds of injured soldiers, as well as read to them, and wrote letters for them to their
families. Whitman gave lectures on President Lincoln almost up until his own death. Whitman was
greatly disturbed by the assassination of President Lincoln and wrote these poems as a tribute to him.
The most popular and the most analyzed of these poems is When Lilacs Last in the DoorYard Bloom
d. Laurie Lanzen writes, this is a poem whose rich and sacred beauty and rapture of tender religious
passion leave it unique and solitary in literature, and will make it the chosen and immortal hymn of
death forever (Lanzen, 544 ). Even though Whitman never mentions President Lincoln by name in the
poem, according to whitmanarchive.org, this poem was published in the fourth edition of Leaves of
Grass in 1867 under the heading President Lincoln s Burial Hymn (whitmanarchive.org). This has
come to be considered as one of the best poems ever written by Whitman. When Lilacs Last in the

The cat like cry is the most prominent feature and is usually one of the key factors in diagnosing it.
The chromosomes can also be analyzed and they can find the missing or misplaced chromosome. In
this case they would find that the fifth chromosome is missing. They can also do a more detailed test
called the FISH test. FISH stands for Fluorescent in Situ Hybridization, it can detect the deletion.
Who has this disorder: A commonly asked question for all genetic disorders is Who get s it ? The

spends long time with chimpanzees in the forests to recover from her husband s death. During this
period, she learns new ideas from the chimps and finds herself back, and understands the complicated

understand themselves first instead of focusing on problems permanently. People have the space to
understand themselves when stay with animals, and learn many meaningful ideas from them. When
people lost their families, they cannot accept it because they rarely face this kind of situations. Before
her husband passes away, Goodall believes in god. However, after losing her husband, Goodall angry
at the unjustness and starts to reject the god. To seek for healing, she decides to go to the forest and
stay with chimpanzees in Gombe. However, in the forest, animals deal with death in a totally different
way. Dead body can be finding everywhere and death is happening at all times. Thus, animals treat it
normally. As Goodall says, And always there are the young ones to carry on the life of the species

Richard Sims
Performance Management Plan A performance management system allows a business to maximize its
efficiency through the sum of all its parts. Controlling employee s behavior, maximizing employee
efforts, and minimizing unproductive down town, is at the heart of a performance management
system. In fact, according to Clardy (2013), ...a performance management system is the total complex
of factors that trigger, channel, and maintain productive task performance. (pg.1, para.2) Making sure
employees are doing their job is no longer an efficient method of performance management.
According to Cascio (2013), performance management can be thought of as a compass (pg. 332, ...

When a customer orders limo service, asking if they would prefer a larger or more exotic limo would
help align smart targets with strategy. Furthermore, monitoring smart targets could be completed using
costumer surveys. Ensuring employees are properly supported throughout the process; evaluating
performance and finally, further support through training and development. After a customer has
completed their limousine service, managers will evaluate customer surveys and offer any
performance evaluation if necessary and any further training to ensure employees are attempting to
upsell customers on services. Following this framework is essential in aligning performance
management with business strategy and maximizing employee efforts towards business goals.
Organizational performance philosophy
Performance management is essential in creating an organization that is high performing and
supporting employee development (Yale.edu, 2010). Therefore the organizational performance
philosophy should align performance management processes towards the goals of performance
planning, review, coaching, and development. First, employees are responsible for communicating
about performance and ensuring that they are successful towards the development and continually
striving for customer service excellence in support of organizational strategy. Next, management is

Why People Fail At Weight Loss
Losing weight is a struggle. So many of us are overweight and look to all sorts of weight loss methods
in order to lose the extra pounds. Still, the vast majority of people on diets fail at losing that weight.
More often than not, they even gain it all back, plus more! What makes us fail so often? Even people
who are normally so responsible and motivated tend to fail at this endeavor. In order to be motivated
to do something and see it through to the end, there needs to be a balance between work put in, and the
reward you get from that work. The main reason that most people fail at weight loss is because the
hard work usually vastly outweighs the outcome. You could eat right and exercise for weeks and only
lose a few pounds. Such small progress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel like I cannot stop eating. I have lost ALMOST 30 pounds and I am slowly starting to put it back
on again. I have been feeling kinda bad about myself lately, and with that comes comforting myself
with food. I know that if I get to the gym, that will help, but mentally, I have fallen off the weight loss
wagon really hard and need to pull myself back up on it again. It s easier said than done. I was
thinking about doing a fast today and just re centering myself again. Saying some prayers and reading
my Bible to get my head back in the game. I give all the glory to God for my loss so far, because
without Him, I couldn t do this. I honestly do not have the will power. Why does food hold such
power over some of us? I look at people on television or even people out in public that are thin. I am
insanely jealous. What must that be like to be thin? I ve never known what it feels like. What must it
be like to not let your life revolve around food? To not always think about what can I eat next? or I
should invite a friend to dinner so I can eat something yummy. My mindset is just all wrong and I don
t know how to change that. I don t know why food comforts me, but it does. It makes me feel good for
about two minutes. I get lost in the flavors and the feeling of endless chewing. Usually when I eat a
high fat meal, I feel like crap when it s all done. Why can t I remember that feeling? Why doesn t that
sit with me in my mind? I hate the way I look. My body disgusts me. I don t understand how my
husband can want me, but he does. I m totally blessed by him. He thinks I m the most beautiful
woman in the world. I get depressed really easily, and I think it s because I ve been eating so badly.
Have you ever noticed that when your diet gets bad, your mentality takes a huge downfall? I do. I m
going grocery shopping today and my goal is to buy everything healthy. Lots of fruits and veggies and
chicken. I think another problem is that I m getting bored with

Odors Memory
Sleep Supports Memory of Odors
Smells trigger memories on an emotional level. We, as humans, have a stronger emotional response to
odor triggered memories than any other sense. Smells of a perfume or a ripe banana brings back
memories of old. As for new experiences, memories consolidate in our sleep. Even though it is not
known what stage of sleep this consolidation occurs, plenty of research qualifies this idea. In the
research article Sleep Supports Memory of Odors in Adults but Not in Children, Prehn Kristensen,
Lotzkat, Bauhofer, Wiesner, and Baving put these areas of memory together and conducted a study in
sleep consolidation involving the recollection of smells.

As for the children, the opposite was true. The children wake group scored better than the sleep group.
When comparing both wake groups, there was very little difference (p. 6). Also, within the adult sleep
group, Prehn Kristensen et al. (2015) found a predictable correlation between the familiar odors in
encoding and the recollected odors in retrieval (p. 8). As a manipulation check, all participants were
asked, during retrieval, if they were part of a memory test. When looking at the results, Prehn
Kristensen et al. (2015) looked at the numbers twice. They looked at it with all participants and then
without those participants who thought they were part of a memory test. The results yielded about the
same. (p.

In James Baldwin s story, he is not happy with the white people s power. He is full of the hatred. When he purposely went to the non colour restaurant, he tries to challenge the higher levels. Baldwin writes, I pretended not to have understood her, hoping to draw her closer ... I realized that she would never come any closer and that I would have to strike from a distance. He wants to know why the whites are the stronger group, why the whites can destroy his hopes. However, when he found out the whites are weaker than him but still having more powers, he turns his hatred into violence. Baldwin writes, I picked this up and hurled it with all my strength at her. She ducked and it missed her and shattered against the mirror behind the bar. He is angry and being violence, and those violence comes out from his hates. When people looking down on him, his despairs bitterness and hatred make him want to get the respects from the higher authority. He was waiting for the higher authority to throw him out, but the reality makes him even more upset. Midsummer Night Dream Venus And Adonis Analysis Iyanna Penigo Ms. Chirat Period 4 May 13, 2017 In the works of Midsummer s Night Dream, Venus and Adonis, and, Shakespeare uses themes, motifs, allusions, and imagery to suggest his audience reread and deeply analyze confusing passages several times to fully understand his masterpieces. In the play, A Midsummer s Night Dream begins with Theseus, Duke of Athens, preparing for his marriage to Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, with a four day festival. Egeus, a citizen of Athens, goes to see Theseus with a complaint against his daughter: although Egeus has promised Hermia in marriage to Demetrius, who loves her, Lysander has won Hermia s heart and refuses to obey her father and marry Demetrius. Theseus speaks to Hermia, warning her to expect to be sent to a nunnery or put to death if she doesn t obey her father s wishes. Lysander interrupts, accusing Demetrius of being fickle in love, saying he was once engaged to Hermia s friend, Helena but abandoned her after he laid eyes on Hermia. (Shakespeare, Act I Scene i) Demetrius, Egeus, Hippolyta, and Theseus take off leaving Hermia alone with Lysander. While given the time to be alone, Hermia and Lysander create a plan to be married at her house, because the manor is outside of Athens they would be free from the Athenian law. Later in the scene, Helena enters the room, lovesick and deeply depressed because Demetrius no longer loves her. From the Outset, Shakespeare subtly displays the lovers as a group out of balance, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Data table with the collected results showing resistor value vs signal strength. The signal strength (last column) was calculated using the following formula. V = counted squares (Second column) * (CRO volts per cm (Third column) * 10 ^ 3) 10^ 3 can also be written as E 3. E 3 is used since the results are being changed from millivolts to volts. An example of this is as follows. V = 0.2cm*(5mV * 10^ 3) V = 0.001V Graph Figure 2. Graph showing the data results with a logarithmic scale of 10 on the horizontal axis. Figure 2 uses a logarithmic scale to show the data collected in a way that can be visualized. If the graph does not have a logarithmic scale, most of the data bunches up onto the left side of the graph. This makes it very hard to see what the data is showing. Discussion Interpretation (explain your results using science concepts) LiFi is the sending and receiving of information in the form of light (LiFi, n.d.). This experiment replicated this by making two circuits. The circuit which sends the information can be as simple as an LED, this can be seen in figure 3. However, to control the information which the LED is sending, a different circuit needs to be made. This circuit is similar to figure 3 but with the addition of an audio lead. This circuit can be seen in figure 4. Figure 3. Sending Circuit with only LED. Figure 4. Sending circuit with audio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the common ones are the policies for providing tax incentives together with improvement of infrastructure (Anderson and Wassmer Bidding for Business 82). Consequently, cost effectiveness of local economic development incentives that are offered to metropolitan areas such as Detroit is crucial in speeding the process of improving the livelihoods and security amongst metropolitan urban populations. 3. Background of the Issue The challenges of inducing development in metropolitan cities in the US date back to 1936 when Mississippi became the first state to develop policies for encouraging industrial development by private stakeholders. Such public policies were sanctioned by the state that deployed industrial development bonds to achieve this endeavor. Since then, many states and local governments deploy economic incentives such as IBDs, tax exemptions , TIFAs, enterprise zones (EZ), general obligation bonds, and local manufacturing revenue bonds among others (Bradshaw and Blakely 235). The issue is whether these incentives are cost effective in achieving their desired outcomes. The above issue has attracted criticism and support from different economic scholars. For instance, Peters and Fisher claim that such incentives need to be scrapped since subsidization of new investments has the implication of attracting immigrants who take up jobs, thus ... Use two or three specific examples and relevant quotes from the text to support your argument. Self delusion is the act of deceiving one s self, in the play Death of a Salesman we see self delusion taking place between two characters which are Willy and his son Happy. Happy s self delusions come from wanting to exceed his father s expectations in hopes that one day his father would approve. Since Happy had always listened to his father s over exaggerated stories it is possible that he himself learned to over exaggerate his own so that he could appear well off and successful. One of Happy s self delusions is portraying that he is successful in his job, he claims to be the assistant buyer but in reality he is the assistant to the assistant You big blow, are you the assistant buyer? You re one of the two assistants to the assistant, aren t you? (pg.131). This fits the theme of self delusion because Happy cannot seem to grasp reality and instead hopes that people will believe his eccentric job title. Another self delusion that Happy seems to create is embellishing the stories about his affairs with most women and how a lot of women want him because he is a womanizer. Happy sounds proud of himself when speaking about how he has ruined the lives of the women that he has had sexual relations with because they happened to be married. Another self delusion that Happy keeps repeating is that he is going to get married. Happy is a womanizer and most likely is not going to get married anytime soon in the play because he seems to enjoy the company of a lot of woman even though he feels lonely. Happy telling his father that he is going to get married is so that he could reach his father s standards and so that his father could realize that he is getting his life in order and all that he is really missing is a wife. A witch named Rachel had wanted us to take him to her castle but knowing that she was evil, my family had refused. She became furiously angry and threatened that that would not be the last we heard of her. She had had an evil plan that needed someone like Sam because he was a prodigy because he was so smart. I quickly called the members of our gang, the Rescuers, of which I had been nominated leader. My best friends, Jack, Otto, and David answered the phone. We met together in the Cul de Sac in our neighborhood and I quickly told them our dilemma. Immediately, after I was done talking, we set off on the road leading toward the misty beach. We jogged until we could not run anymore and finally reached the railroad which went directly to Rachel s castle, Darkwood. The mist was terrible, and we could barely see in front of us. We found an abandoned railroad car and quickly jumped in; it was about 7:00 AM. As we sped through the dark, misty air, we could hear the waves lapping up against the railroad track. If there was an answer, I d find it there. A couple minutes went by and Otto was already complaining. Are we almost there yet? I m hungry. Well I m sorry that my brother was taken by the evil ... Police Accountability vs. Police Independence Essay Introduction The debate regarding police independence versus police accountability has been hotly contested since at least the 1960s.1 At the heart of the debate are questions relating to the degree and manner of oversight to which police forces should be subjected, while maintaining the independence of those polices forces to carry out their duties free from undue political (or other) interferences. This essay examines the principles underlying the independence of the office of constable , the notion of responsible government, and how the interaction between these two ideas has been characterised in the literature. It will be demonstrated that police independence and responsible government (that is, police accountability) are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Responsible government Whereas the principle of the independence of the office of the constable serves to ensure that police do not become the slave of any state or interest group, the principle of responsible government can be usefully conceived of as ensuring that police remain the servants of the public at large. Contrary to the idea that the police office is not a servant of anyone, save of the law itself 6, responsible government and police accountability measures aim to ensure that police forces are answerable to the very communities which vest in the police force the right and responsibility for upholding the law. In practice, police accountability measures are usually tied into extensive governance frameworks, laws and procedures, including: administrative mechanisms for handling citizen complaints; civil actions and criminal prosecutions in the courts; the exclusion of improperly obtained evidence in criminal trials; internal ... • 21. Dr Faustus as a Tragedy Q.1. Discuss Dr Faustus as a tragedy. Tragedy Definition Aristotle defines a tragedy as a representation of an action which is important, complete and limited in length. It is enacted not recited and by arousing pity and fear, it gives an outlet to emotions of this type. However, for the Elizabethans, more specifically for Marlowe and Shakespeare, tragedy is not a restrictive view of human excellence or weakness as the Greeks are often inclined to present but an affirmative view of human aspirations whose pursuit brings a glory to the definition of a man. Struggle, conflict, suffering and failure may be the inescapable attendants but the human spirit is not stifled in its pursuits by what attends to them. The ability to withstand ... Divinity adieu: These metaphysics of magicians, And necromantic books are heavenly: The Strength of theTragedy The play is a human tragedy for not only is Faustus tragically constituted in his boundless ambitions but, at the same time, the play questions the effectiveness of the cultural aspirations that shape his ambitions. Consequently, the play provides a complex interaction between the human dimensions of the dramatic character and the ambiguities and ambivalences of the cultural situation the character is placed in. Yet while the play seems to offer a very basic Christian message that one should avoid temptation and sin, and repent if one cannot avoid temptation and sin its conclusion can be interpreted as straying from orthodox Christianity in order to conform to the structure of tragedy. In a traditional tragic play, as pioneered by the Greeks and imitated by William Shakespeare, a hero is brought low by an error or series of errors and realizes his or her mistake only when it is too late. In Christianity, though, as long as a person is alive, there is always the possibility of repentance so if a tragic hero realizes his or her mistake, he or she may still be saved even at the last moment. But though Faustus, in the final, wrenching scene, comes to his senses and begs for a chance to repent, it is too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World Happiness is a state of mind that most people typically urge themselves to achieve, to somehow magically land on, what is inexplicable is the dangerous lengths people will sometimes go through in order to make this a reality. Aldous Huxley attempts to explain the so called steps that are taken to assure the happiness of a community controlled by a totalitarian government and how this government creates a false sense of stability in order to manipulate its citizens minds thus creating this Brave New World. The World State lives by the motto, Community. Identity. Stability. , this stability being defined as a time in which there is no visible violence, there is a healthy economic stance and the people are... happy. Its aim is universal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, reveals that when a society, such as the World State, focuses too much on stability, it derails its people s individuality and freedom and that ultimately avoiding conflict, risk or change doesn t come free, the cost is individual freedom and it is a great cost to pay for the simple desire of stability. Huxley s novel takes place in the future, one in which it is acceptable to condition citizens to maximize the overall efficiency of the entire society as opposed to the efficiency of the individual. This future s biological engineering reaches an all time high level; people are no longer born naturally , children are now decanted in bottles and pre natal conditioning is not only acceptable but necessary as a means to limit human behavior. The theme of dehumanized life is a central one in the novel, perhaps the most important one, but one critic argues that although it is evident that this theme dominates the pages of Brave New World, the characters of this novel prove to be more human like than one might have thought at a first glace. Peter Edgerly Firchow of the Bucknell University Press argues that: The characters of Brave New World are not merely made of cardboard and papier mâché, that they are ... • 23. Compare And Contrast Byronic Heros From Hamlet A Byronic hero is an antihero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even though these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in common: their main characters were Byronic heroes. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because each has a troubled backstory, each is an anti hero, both are criminals, have high intelligence and useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White is fifty year old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up every day. He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousand dollars. Just a brief reminder for anyone who hasn t watched the show for quite some time, as this concept is fundamental in understanding our main character, the premise of this theory goes as follows: forging intimate relationships, despite our best intentions, causes shared emotional pain; therefore, provoking guarded behavior and overall weaker relationships due to the lack of intimacy. This explains Shinji s maladroit encounters with female characters in the show, and his reluctancy to solidify lasting relationships. He has become content to live in the imaginary shell that is his happy place, believing that expressing his true self will cause unintended harm to others and himself. Hideaki Anno, to his credit, overlaid his permeating depression into a fourteen year old character, that, for the most part, comes through as feeling authentic. Deut 32:13; 33:29; Isa 33:16; Am 4:13; Mic 1:3; Hab 3:18 19). 115 The latter view seems to be more persuasive because of its similar expression in Deut 32:13 and the LXX rendering ta. avgaqa. th/ j gh/ j (the good places of the land).116 112Ibid. 113There is a shift of the verbal conjugation from gN:[;t.Ti (hithael second per. masc. sing.) in v. 14a to ^yTiÞb.K;r hi (hiphil first per. masc. sing.) in v. 14b. The change of the person (first person) and verbal form (hiphil) in v. 14b enhances God s initiative salvific work and his blessing. 114Knight, Isaiah 56 66, 29. • 46. Why People Fail At Weight Loss Losing weight is a struggle. So many of us are overweight and look to all sorts of weight loss methods in order to lose the extra pounds. Still, the vast majority of people on diets fail at losing that weight. More often than not, they even gain it all back, plus more! What makes us fail so often? Even people who are normally so responsible and motivated tend to fail at this endeavor. In order to be motivated to do something and see it through to the end, there needs to be a balance between work put in, and the reward you get from that work. The main reason that most people fail at weight loss is because the hard work usually vastly outweighs the outcome. You could eat right and exercise for weeks and only lose a few pounds. Such small progress ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel like I cannot stop eating. I have lost ALMOST 30 pounds and I am slowly starting to put it back on again. I have been feeling kinda bad about myself lately, and with that comes comforting myself with food. I know that if I get to the gym, that will help, but mentally, I have fallen off the weight loss wagon really hard and need to pull myself back up on it again. It s easier said than done. I was thinking about doing a fast today and just re centering myself again. Saying some prayers and reading my Bible to get my head back in the game. I give all the glory to God for my loss so far, because without Him, I couldn t do this. I honestly do not have the will power. Why does food hold such power over some of us? I look at people on television or even people out in public that are thin. I am insanely jealous. What must that be like to be thin? I ve never known what it feels like. What must it be like to not let your life revolve around food? To not always think about what can I eat next? or I should invite a friend to dinner so I can eat something yummy. My mindset is just all wrong and I don t know how to change that. I don t know why food comforts me, but it does. It makes me feel good for about two minutes. I get lost in the flavors and the feeling of endless chewing. Usually when I eat a high fat meal, I feel like crap when it s all done. Why can t I remember that feeling? Why doesn t that sit with me in my mind? I hate the way I look. My body disgusts me. I don t understand how my husband can want me, but he does. I m totally blessed by him. He thinks I m the most beautiful woman in the world. I get depressed really easily, and I think it s because I ve been eating so badly.
