Church Of The Holy Seulchre Research Paper
Church of the Holy Sepulchre is also known as the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre and the
Church of the Resurrection (Orthodox Christians). Originally identified as being outside the
settlement of Calvary, it is located in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israel and is considered one of
the holiest sites in the world, as well as being a central destination for Christian pilgrims. The
Church of the Holy Sepulchre was originally built by the Roman Emperor Constantine (272 337)
in 330 CE upon the site of a Roman temple. It has since been controlled by Arab rulers, reclaimed
by Christian crusaders, repeatedly ruined by fires and conquests, and long been subject to regional
religious and political tensions. The Holy Sepulchre is a central Church in... Show more content on

During conversion of the Roman temple, a tomb claimed to be the site of Jesus burial, known as
the Rock of Golgotha was discovered. In addition, Helena, Constantine s mother, is purported to
have found the True Cross upon which Jesus was crucified. In response to these discoveries the
original Roman Church incorporated the locations of Jesus crucifixion, his tomb, and the site of
his resurrection. The church was severely damaged in 614 when the Persian Emperor Chosroes
II (550 628) conquered Jerusalem and captured Holy relics, including the True Cross. In 630
Emperor Heraclius (575 641) reclaimed the region, recaptured the True Cross, and began
rebuilding the Church. However, the site was again conquered by Arabs in 638, though notably the
Church of the Holy Sepulchre remained a Christian site of worship which was not destroyed or

Seraphina Poem Analysis
In the land of Novyd lived a bard named Spero, who always wore his heart on his sleeve. He
traveled from court to court, charming the nobles with his songs and poems about love. In each
court, Spero longed to meet the love of his life: he pursued any woman who caught his eye,
offering them a piece of his heart in exchange for their affection. One evening in the castle
courtyard, he came across a noblewoman surrounded by her handmaidens. They trembled in her
presence, scampering away like frightened rats once she waved them away. She was Seraphina,
the fairest lady of the court. No man could win her over. Nonetheless, Spero was determined to
woo her. He spent the next few days picking the most vibrant flowers in the garden: blue... Show

When he returned, the whole court marveled at sight of his kaleidoscopic bouquet, including the
woman, who introduced herself as Lyra. Spero sang his song for her, not a note out of place, then
handed her a piece of his heart. She accepted with delight. The next few days passed without
incident. They were a happy couple, smiling and holding hands at every opportunity. The bard
found himself performing better each night on stage and in bed for his new love ignited all his
senses. But one night, Lyra came to him in tears. I ve lost the piece of your heart, she cried, if
you will give me another, I promise I shan t lose it. And so Spero did, for he knew that lovers
ought to forgive each other. He felt himself grow weaker as he gave her a new piece, but he
wanted nothing more than to see Lyra happy. A couple of days passed and she lost another
piece, and another, and another, until Spero finally drew the line. His voice was hoarse as of
late, and he could no longer sing as well as he used to. I cannot give you any more pieces of my
heart, he said. You do not value it enough to take care of it. Lyra was hurt by his words, but knew
that her chances of being forgiven were spent. She gathered her belongings from his bedchamber
and bade him a tearful farewell. After giving a weak performance for the court, and enduring his
audience s painful silence Spero decided to stay and

My Favorite Experience In My Life
Pass. Set. Spike. Serve. Dig. I have heard these words surround me since I was young. Sports have
played an important part of my life since I was young taking a parent and me swim classes at the
local YMCA. I was that kid who played almost every sport out there, from karate to soccer to
basketball. Even after all that, it still took me still took me years to find my true passion as far as
sports go.
Both of my parents played volleyball growing up so it has always been in my life one way or
another. My two brothers couldn t care less about it, rather spending their days playing soccer and
video games.
All of a sudden, the first day of school, middle school, rolled around. My school offered a sports
program, so without hesitation, I had decided to sign up for volleyball because I wanted to try
something new and try to find an activity that would keep me happy and busy. Sixth grade flew
by and seventh soon came. As per the one year tradition, I signed up to play volleyball. This year,
I played on my school s varsity team.
Seventh grade was the year I tried out for club volleyball. My first year of club volleyball is
where I had some of the best and worst experiences of my life. My teammates are some of my
best friends, who I have known from previous sports our parents made us suffer through. This
team also happens to be one of the worst in the league, taking second to last place in the league. We

Disadvantage Of Vedic Multiplier
Abstract Theperformance of system is directly proportional to throughput of the multiplierhence
multipliers are effective in many applications. The system depended throughput of multiplier and a
system became slow therefore we need to design high performance multiplier. In this paper we
implement The Vedic Multiplier and the Reversible Logic Gates and Accumulate Unit (MAC)
UrdhavaTriyagbhayam sutra for design of Vedic multiplier and the adder design is done by using
reversible logic gate. Reversible logics are also the fundamental requirement for the emerging field
of Quantum computing. . The analyses result shows that our multiplier is faster than conventional

VEDIC MULTIPLIER
The Vedic mathematics applicable over complex calculation, it reduces the typical calculation into
a very simple one. This is so because the Vedic formulae are claimed to be based on the natural
principles on which the human mind works. Vedic Mathematics is a methodology of arithmetic
rules that allow more efficient speed implementation. It also provides some effective algorithms
which can be applied to various branches of engineering such as computing.
1)UrdhvaTiryakbhyam Sutra
The Vedic multiplier is depends on the UrdhvaTiryagbhyam sutra (algorithm). These Sutras have
been traditionally used for the multiplication of two numbers in the decimal number system. In this
work, we apply the same ideas to the binary number system to make the proposed algorithm
compatible with the digital hardware. It is a general multiplication formula applicable to all
cases of multiplication. It literally means Vertically and Crosswise . It is based on a novel
concept through which the generation of all partial products can be done with the concurrent
addition of these partial products. The algorithm can be generalized for n x n bit number. Since
the partial products and their sums are calculated in parallel, the multiplier is independent of the
clock frequency of the processor. Due to its regular structure, it can be easily layout in
microprocessors and designers can easily circumvent these problems to avoid catastrophic device
failures. The processing power of multiplier can easily be increased by increasing the input and
output data bus widths since it has a quite a regular structure. Due to its regular structure, it can be
easily layout in a silicon chip. The Multiplier based on this sutra has the advantage that as the
number of bits increases, gate delay and area increases very slowly as compared to other

The Cause Of The Dancing Plague Of 1518
The Dancing Plague of 1518 was an occurrence of unknown origin. Although still unsolved, there
have been theories published on the subject. The theories that have been brought to light are mass
hysteria caused by St. Vitus, Ergotism, Tarantism, and an unknown type of heretical cult. None of
these ideas are able to truly explain the abrupt Dancing Plague that occurred in Strasbourg. This is
not the first time this type of event has occurred. Dancing epidemics have also occurred in other
areas of Europe in earlier centuries, but without the same deadly outcome as the 1518 plague. The
most popular theory on the cause of 1518 s Dancing Plague is the mass hysteriatheory. John
Waller, a firm supporter of this theory, was able to give very convincing evidence. Although the
mass hysteria has more creditable evidence, it is still not capable of being the exact cause for the
Dancing Plague. The Dancing Plague may be thought of as a faux tale, but there are multiple
records to prove that this occurrence is nowhere near a tale passed on through centuries. The
Dancing Plague was and still is one of the most mysterious events in the 16th century. The
Dancing Plague occurred in Strasbourg in July, 1518. It all began with a woman named Frau
Troffea, who began dancing uncontrollably in the middle of the streets. She did this night and day
on her own without stopping for nearly a week. The disease began to spread to three dozen other
victims after a week of Frau Troffea s solo dancing. By

Essay on Pragmatism
Pragmatism
George Santayana described Pragmatism this way, American pragmatism connects the American
experimental and inventive attitude with older philosophical ideas (Stumpf 397). Pragmatism first
appeared in the late nineteenth century, but was only widely accepted after World War II. This
philosophy assumed that life has a purpose and that rivals theories about man and the world have
to be tested against this purpose. Pragmatism caught on in the United States because Americans
were focused on results and achieving their goals (Troxell 1). What is known as Pragmatism was a
broad philosophical movement that affected the American way of thinking in logic and science,
psychology and religion, and ethics and social behavior. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pragma is a Greek word meaning act or deed, named in order to emphasize the fact that words
derive their meanings from acts of some sort (stumpf 399). Through thought, we try to fix our
beliefs so that we shall have a guide for our action, Peirce said. He was also an advocate of the
scientific method. He said this requires not only a truth that a person believes but also how he
arrived at this truth, and also requires that there be a certain degree of cooperation between the
members of the scientific community. In correspondence with the scientific method Peirce believed
that to do you must have a belief that requires thought (Joad 341). In addition, he believed that
whether it is for devotion to Christianity or own personal consolation he should believe in a future
life rather then base all beliefs on what science implies (Choron 286).
William James studied pragmatism through psychology and religion. James thought originally
about philosophy; The whole function of philosophy ought to be to find out what definite
difference it will make to you and me, at definite instants in our life, if this world formula or that
world formula be the true one. In James book The Varieties of Religious Experience he took a
positive attitude toward religion yet opposed the idealist schools of speculative ideas (Choron
283). James was a very methodical man. Truth happens to an idea was another theory of James .

Thampso Thompson Abortion
Abortion is highly controversial and there is quite the debate over the ethics of abortion. The
question is does the fetus have the same rights as an adult, so that it has the same right to not be
killed. There are many debates on whether or not a fetus is human. Those who believe that there is
no life related to a fetusthen they believe that it has no rights. On the flip side, others may argue
that abortionis the killing of an innocent human life. The question, When does life begin? appears
over and over again throughout these debates and within cultures.Thompson believes that the
question of whether a fetus have the same rights as a human being is irrelevant. Even if the fetus
had all the rights of an adult human being, it would still be permissible to abort it.... Show more

The dying violist scenario of finding yourself attached to a violinist. The violinist had to be
connected to your circulatory systems to live and taking him off would kill him. You must be
connected to him for the next 9 months. The debate begins that attaching the violinist is
unauthorized and there is then the right to go against this unauthorized connection. So realistically
it is believed that when contraception fails, this is an unauthorized human being attached for 9
months. Rape could be put in this scenario, as well. In the example of the people seeds, people
seeds take on the characteristics of pollen. The people seeds may float in through a window onto
the carpets. So when this happens, you would put up the finest mesh screens. In an highly
uncommon scenario, the mesh was defected and a people seed implants itself in the home. So this
brings up the question whether or not a person plant can now develop and have the right to use the

The Pros And Cons Of Prison Incarceration
Regardless of what you might see on TV the verdict of not guilty by the reason of insanity is an
immensely rare plea for anyone. A majority of offenders with a mental illness still end up
incarcerated. Even though the United States only makes up 5% of the world s population we
account for 25% of the world s prisoners. Which converts to 2.2 million prisoners and about 1.2
million of those people have a mental illness (Fellner). Mental illness within our jails and prisons
has become very prevalent within our correctional systems over the last 10 years. The number of
men and women who have a mental illness that end up in jail or prisongrows day by day. For those
who do not go into the prison with a mental illness, will very likely develop some form of mental
illness after being released from incarceration. The mentally ill do not belong in prison, the purpose
for incarceration is retribution, incapacitation, deterrence and rehabilitation, and though it is
originally meant for all of these purposes, it has lost its meaning. Correctional facilities are not
built to provide treatment for the mentally ill, and the people who have been diagnosed with a
mental illness cannot get the long term treatment they need inside of a prison cell. A significant
number of people who come into prison have a variety of mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia,
major depression, and manic depression. Approximately 5 6% of prison inmates have been
diagnosed with schizophrenia, these people

Main Themes Of Dissatisfaction In The Mayor Of Casterbridge
The Mayor of Casterbridge has two main themes. One theme is dissatisfaction, which is a main
reason when the characters end relationships with each other. The other theme is the indelibility of
the past. Some characters had long term effects when their past was learned by other characters.
People were not forgiven for their past as easy in the early nineteenth as they are today. The author
used these themes very well, for people to assert into their life.
Dissatisfaction is very major in The Mayor of Casterbridge because many relationships are broken
and mended in the book. Those characters are dissatisfied with their current state of being, so they
move on to a different stage in their life, which can lead to other relationships being repaired. The
author is teaching the readers to move on, if something in their life is dissatisfying them.
One example of a character being dissatisfied is when Newson fakes his death because he knows
Susan is not satisfied and wants to go back to Michael Henchard. Susan found out that she didn t
have to stay with Newson, so she wanted to go back to Henchard. Susan became unpleasant to
be around, and Newson knew she wanted to go back to Henchard. On page 288, in The Mayor
of Casterbridge, Newson says Since I m here, here I ll bide, I thought to myself; twill be most
kindness to her, now she s taken against me, to let her believe me lost; for, I thought while she
supposes us both alive she ll be miserable; but if she thinks me dead she ll go back to him, and
the child will have a home. Newson faked his death to satisfy Susan and bring happiness in her life.
When Lucetta met Farfrae, she became dissatisfied with Henchard. To Lucetta, Farfrae was a
younger and better version of Henchard. Lucetta was going to marry Henchard, but she knew that
she should would not be happy with him. Lucetta also found out about Henchard s past, and she
was dissatisfied with the way he treated his first wife. On page 209, Lucetta says I learnt of the
rumor that you had вЋЇ sold your first wife at a fair, like a horse or cow. How could I keep my
promise after hearing that? Lucetta knew she was not going to be satisfied with Henchard if she
married him, so she moved on with her life.

Disadvantages Of Newspaper Article
In research, there is a wide variety of ways in which researchers and journalists go about
presenting their, or others, findings. Because many of these findings have the possibility to have
significant impact on the general populace, it is important to know the context from which this
information is being published, as many findings may be influenced by source, representation,
bias, outside funding or goals, and many other extraneous factors. In this case, the Lillienfeld et
al (2014) article and The Telegraph article are both presented in vastly differing ways, both with
their own advantages and disadvantages. These two articles bring to the forefront many
differences in the ways that scholarly and popular media formats address findings. The article by
Lillienfeld et al (2014) serves as a great example of the general advantages and disadvantages held
by scholarly articles. One of the most pronounce advantages of scholarly articles is that they often
go into more depth in their definitions and explanations of the variables and findings of their
research. In the Lillienfeld et al (2014) article, a great example of this is in their goal statement near
the beginning of the article. They very clearly explain that there is very little research into the
implications of [psychopathic] traits for everyday functioning with large amounts of citation,
leading into their goal, in which they try to determine the extent to which [psychopathic] traits

The comparison was between survival rates of the patients with raised and normal
concentrations of troponin. Cox proportional hazard was used to determine the relative risk of
death both adjusted and unadjusted and 95% confidence intervals. Kaplan Meir method was
used to compute survival curves. After that summarisation if clinical data was done 733 patients.
It was founded that majority of patients had increased troponin t as compared to troponin i
irrespective of the cut off criteria used. Again regardless of the cut off criteria used one, two and
three year combined mortality rates were higher in patients with raised troponin t compared
patients having normal levels. Unadjusted for other risk factors for mortality, Regardless of the
duration of follow up, an increase of 2 5 times in risk of death was noted with raised troponin t
and 2 times with raised troponin i. Age, history of CAD, time since dialysis were identified as
independent risk factors according to the data. Whereas sex, diabetes, and history of myocardial
infarction were not found to be predictive independently. It was also found out that there are
increase mortality rates with mild, moderate and larger increases in troponin t. Based on pre
dialysis troponin t and troponin i concentrations this was the first study to determine short and long
term survival in ESRD patients. This also found causes for more elevations of troponin t as

The Difference Between Love And Lust
What is the difference between love and lust? According to the dictionary, love is a feeling of
strong and constant affection for a person. On the other hand, lust is a strong sexual desire for
another ( Merriam Webster ). The definitions of love and lust are complete opposites. Love is a
constant feeling, while lust is impermanent. Yet, the two are always confused between people. This
is because of the word strong in both of the definitions. When a person is deeply in loveor is
consumed by lust, the feelings are both strong. Therefore, it is sometimes challenging to
differentiate. Banksy, a well known street artist, realized the problem with love and lust, and
decided to teach people a lesson by painting a piece of street art called Waiting in Vain...at the Door
of the Club.
Banksy is a very renowned street artist who keeps his identity unknown. His artwork is portrayed
by striking images, often combined with slogans, [which] engages political themes, satirically
critiquing war, capitalism, hypocrisy and greed ( Banksy Biography ). He first started his bold
street art in Bristol, his hometown located in London, but quickly spread to the United States of
America. In the U.S., Banksy targeted the most populated cities; this was due to the fact that it was
easier for him to spread his messages. With a crowded location, his lessons will extent over an
audience much quicker.

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Iliad
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Iliad are two extremely different stories, The Iliad being a tale of
war (specifically the Trojan War) while the Epic of Gilgamesh is a true Epic in the sense that it is
a journey, all about the development of the characters. While there are many different themes
throughout both books, one of the most important themes is the way that friendship develops both
of the people involved and the way that it ties into the story overall. In the Epic of Gilgamesh,
Enkidu and Gilgamesh start off as polar opposites while in the Iliad, Achillesand Patroclus are great
friends from the very beginning. In each of the stories, one of the friends dies and it leaves a
permanent mark on the other that changes his behavior in a way that sets the stage for the rest of
the story. However, I think that the greater change of the two happens in Achilles since the death
of his friend leads him to completely change character, from the man who allows his friend to take
his place while he cowers in fear to the man who leads the charge that wins the war. Gilgamesh on
the other hand, continues the journey that he and Enkidu started but even until the end he struggles
with his selfish nature. Prior to Enkidu and Patroclus their deaths, the friendships in each of the
stories already have a profound effect on Gilgamesh and Achilles. At the beginning of the Epic of
Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is a tyrannical ruler in the land of Uruk. At the beginning of the story, we

Key Elements Of Rudolf Steiner s Anthroposophy
Introduction
Steiner schools have a distinctive and unique approach to education. The children on Steiner
schools are able to learn with their head, heart and hands (Childs, G. 1991).
Rudolf Steiner was born in 1861 (Childs, G. 1991). Steiner developed the philosophy:
anthroposophy, a new way of thinking. His mind set towards the universe, life, spirituality, the
connection between those important aspects and how they influence each other was revolutionary.
He believed he has access to a higher consciousness through a clairvoyant knowledge of the
spiritual world. Inspired by the German theosophists Steiner started to focus on the spiritual areas
of research. Encouraged by the Theosophical Society, which had received Steiner s ideas positively,

Research question: What key elements of Rudolf Steiner s anthroposophical vision on education are
noticeable in the taught curriculum in kindergarten at the Vrije School Vredehof in Rotterdam?
This research question is focused on the key elements of the anthroposophy because they are
unique and differ themselves from key elements of other philosophies. The key elements are on a
higher spiritual level. Hence the key elements need to be defined. Steiner s books will be consulted
for this. The research will take place in kindergarten classes because the author is currently closely

Policing And The Policing System
Policing and the way that it operates is a regularly changing system, that develops and adapts
depending on the situations and environment that it is involved in. policing, as a whole is a
function that is dependent on legislations and laws brought in by the English legal system. with
each new piece of legislation comes new policies, procedures and systems that change the way that
the policeare able to function. Throughout this discussion, you will be able to see an analysis of
how the policing system operated when it was first introduced, how it has affected the general
population since it was established and how society has reacted to the changes that have been
developed and implemented forthcoming to modern day.
The policing system began in the 1700s when various forms of policing began to pop up around the
country, there were many different variations of keeping the peace and catching criminals that were
implemented, some very different from the police force that we know today.
It originally started off with the introduction of parish constables, of whom assisted with the
enforcement of order and justice within their local communities. More often than not these officers
tended to be English and middle class. Being a parish constable wasn t a full time job however as
all of the officers had other jobs to return to after they had finished their policing term. One article

Education, Education And Education
Governments play a vital role in providing some of the basic amenities such as health, education
and security to its citizens. According to Milton Friedman, the government has a very important
and critical role to play in the provision of education and more specifically provision of primary
education. Government involvement in the educationsector can either be in the form of loans,
subsidies or grants to provide an enabling learning environment to the needy students. This paper
analyzes the role of subsidies in the support of higher educationbased on Friedman s arguments. In
addition, the paper will attempt to explain the spillovers effects resulting from the government
support of education. Education plays a primary role in reducing the level of illiteracy and
knowledge in the society. Due to different financial position of parents and the high cost of
education, the question remains whether the government should intervene and subsidize the
financial burdens on the parents.
In Friedman s argument, education only benefits the individual student but does not benefit the
community through the effects of a positive externality. According to him, education only benefits
the individuals rather than the society. Educational benefit to an individual also referred as the
positive spillovers effects improve the general welfare an individual. For the society to have proper

A Nation Of Laws For America
July 4, 1776; Independence day, the day America became its own independent nation from the
rule of King George III of Great Britain. With the new country, the Founding Fathers believed it
to be best to have law governing the nation instead of man governing the nation. The Founding
Fathers wanted a nation of laws due to their experiences with King George III and his unfair
rulings. With this, though some people would disagree, it would create what the United States
of America is today; a nation of law, protecting the people s civil freedoms. What exactly led the
Founding Fathers to their idea of a nation of laws for America? In 1765, the British Parliament
passed the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was an act that was implemented in the American colonies
that required most printed material to be taxed. The American colonies believed this to be unfair
because they did not have a say in the taxation. After months of protesting, the act was vetoed,
but a new act was implemented into the colonies in 1773. This act, the Tea Act, forced the
colonists to purchase tea from one and only one company. These were the sparks that would soon
start a revolution. This is the result of being ruled by man. Because of this, because the Founding
Fathers did not want a repeat of what happened with Great Britain, because the Founding Fathers
knew that there would be corruption if a nation is ruled by man, they chose America to be a
nation to be ruled by law; a nation of laws. Being a nation of laws has

Social Attachment Theory
Abstract Despite its roots in evolutionary theory, attachment theory has long split itself into two
factions: adaptive and maladaptive. For years, insecure attachment has been implicated as one of
the root causes for a number of psychological concerns. (Dozier, Stovall McClough, Albus, 2008)
Tsachi Ein Dor, however, theorized something different. His social defense theory posits an entirely
new interpretation of attachment that all attachment orientations have adaptive qualities for the
environment in which they exist and that society at large benefits when groups are made up of a
variety of attachment orientations. This paper seeks to better understand the schemas proposed by
social defense theory (sentinel, rapid fight flight, and collaborative)... Show more content on

Simpson and Belsky (2008) suggested that, in fact, Charles Darwin was the first attachment
theorist. His concept of evolutionary theory the idea that human social behaviors are a reflection
of selection pressures is viewed as one of the greatest intellectual accomplishments in the history of
science. (p. 133) This theory offered up the proposition that behaviors persist solely because they
are advantageous to a species survival. If you understand humans to be primarily social creatures,
then under this theory you would have assume that social connection was a behavior honed over
time by evolution because it was advantageous to survival. Bringing this idea into the world of
psychoanalysis, the object relations school of thought utilizes evolutionary theory to understand
humans as biologically wired for connection. This connection (or attachment, as Bowlby termed it)
shapes our personality structure and style. (6.5) To Bowlby, attachment is part of a pre programmed
behavioral set aimed at keeping an infant in close proximity to his/her main caregiver (typically a
mother figure). (3.4) In his first volume on attachment (year), Bowlby proposed that attachment is
consistent over time and that an infant will grow to relate to others in the same way he/she related
to his/her original attachment figure. This concept is often referred to in the attachment literature
as the child s working model. (3.2) While it is believed that this attachment relationship

Essay On English Reflection
Semester One English Reflection
August 17, 2017; also known as my first day of officially naming myself a high school student at
Lindbergh High School. I walked into my fourth hour, English 1 Honors, not knowing what I
would encounter within the next four months of my academic career. English (until now)
remained my best and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I
began to feel the challenge I have always needed, especially with the new grading system.
Standard based grading consists of grading each individual category us students consistently remain
expected to learn, and master this year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and
habits of learning . Throughout semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the
categories of speaking and listening and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my
strengths in the categories reading and writing.
To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this
I mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and
getting over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get
used to, English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading
system needed some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors
versus regular. As time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term
one, my habits of learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the
level of difficulty English would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term
two, my habits of learning average went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English
there consisted a large amount of classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other
classes as well. After reviewing this, I feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards
academic responsibility weakened, making one of my goals to put forth more effort during
semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a magnificent amount of stress, not
helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school consisted of

The History of Mathematics Essay
What is the meaning of history? According to Merriam Webster s online dictionary, history is:
past events that relate to a particular subject, place, organization, etc (Merriam Webster, 2014).
Math began in 30000BC and is still changing now in 2014. During each year, something new has
happened. From 30000BC to 127BC there were many things happening for the beginning of math.
In 30000BC, Palaeolithics in Europe and France recorded numbers on bones. Around 25000BC,
there were signs of early geometric designs being used. Egypt was using a decimalnumbersystem
around 5000BC. Babylonian and Egyptian calendars were being used starting in 4000BC. In
3400BC, the first symbols for numbers by using straight lines were being used in... Show more

Around 150, Ptolemy made the geometrical results with applications in astronomy. In 263, Liu Hui
calculated the value of ПЂ by using a regular polygon with 192 sides. Around 500, Metrodorus
assembled the Greek Anthology that consisted of 46 mathematical problems. In 534, Japan is
introduced to the Chinese mathematics. In 594, the decimal notation is used for numbers in India.
Around 775, Alcuin of York wrote the elementary texts on arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy.
Around 1200, the Chinese started to use a symbol for zero. In 1248, Li Yeh wrote a book that
had negative numbers which were shown by putting a diagonal strike through the last digit. In
1336, math became a subject for a degree at the University of Paris (A Mathematical
Chronology, 2014). In 1482, Campanus of Novara s Elements was the first math book to be
printed. In 1489, Widman wrote an arithmetic book in German that had the first appearances of
the positive and negative signs. In 1572, Bombelli published the first three parts of his algebra.
He was the first to give the rules for calculating with complex numbers. In 1595, Pitiscus became
the first to employ the term trigonometry in a printed publication. In 1668, Pell made a table to
factors for all integers up to 100,000. In 1675, Leibniz used the modern notation for an integral for
the first time. In 1685, Kochanski gave an approximate method to find the length of the
circumference of a circle. In 1692, Leibniz introduced the term

Percent Yield Of Hydrochloric Acid
In this today s lab, Percent Yield of Hydrogen Gas from Magnesium and Hydrochloric Acid, the
purpose is to study the stoichiometry of H2 produced from the reaction between magnesium (Mg)
and hydrochloric acid (HCl). The chemical equation for this reaction is Mg +2HCl MgCl2 + H2. It
was predicted that 0.0029 moles of hydrogen gas would be formed from 0.07g of magnesiummetal
and 10 mL of hydrochloric acid. The hypothesis was proven correct based on an actual yield of
0.00299 moles of hydrogen gas. We know this because after measuring the volume and pressure of
our results, we used the Ideal Gas Law Equation to calculate the number of moles. We also
calculated the percent yield by dividing the experimental number of moles of hydrogen gas

How Is Booker T Washington Related To Education
Booker T. Washington and Education Throughout the life of Booker T. Washington expressed in his
autobiography, Up From Slavery, one element has remained the same through his influences,
education, public speaking, and teaching of others. This is the fact that one cannot succeed solely
on a book education, but must accompany this with that of an industrial education as well. He
believed that with this type of education, the black man could provide necessary services not only
for himself, but also for those in his community as well. Washington was born on a slave plantation
in either 1858 or 1859 in Franklin County, Virginia. He grew up with his mother, his brother John,

About this same time a school had been stated in Kanawha Valley, a little town a few miles away
from Malden. This is where Washington began his book education. To attend the school,
Washington, at first, had to go to night classes due to his job at the salt mines. With a little
persuasion, Washington finally was allowed to attend during the day provided he worked from
four o clock to nine o clock in the morning. This education was very disorderly due to the fact he
could not attend regularly. Eventually Washington had to drop out of the school and continue
working full time at the salt mines. Washington continued working at the salt mines until he was
able to work in the coal mines. The coal mines paid a little more, but not a significant difference.
It was here where Washington overheard two men talking about a new all Negro school in
Hampton, Virginia. In order to go to this school, Washington needed to save money for clothes and
traveling expenses. For this he worked in the house of Mrs. Viola Ruffner, who turned out to have
an ample affect on his life. The lessons that I learned in the home of Mrs. Ruffner were as valuable
to me as any education I have ever gotten since, (Washington 52). From Mrs. Ruffner, Washington
learned about taking pride in having a clean living area. She also encouraged his education during
the time of his work there. After saving whatever money he could, Washington set off for the

Debeers s Diamond Dilemm A Case Study
DeBeers s Diamond Dilemma: A Case Study
Introduction
The DeBeers s group of companies is a leading diamond exploration, mining, retail and trading
company that was founded in 1888. The organization has its headquarters in Luxembourg and has
mining agreements in close to 30 countries inclusive of the world s leading diamond producers such
as South Africa, Botswana, Canada and Namibia (Cadieux, 2005). The company enjoys one of
the leading market shares in the natural diamond industry with a current share of around 40%.
However, this is a noted decline from past decades where it controlled up to 80% of the world s
diamond supply by the 1990s. The decline noted in its apparent monopoly was caused by a number
of factors including the rise of new suppliers outside of its control. Additionally, negative press
threatened its reputation as it was accused of unfair monopolistic and anti competitive practices,
price fixing and even dabbling in the supply and distribution of the controversial blood diamonds.
A more significant threat for the company has been the rise of the synthetic diamond market
where essentially real diamonds are manufactured within plants and don t have to undergo
millions of years of formation underground in addition to grueling extraction processes. These
diamonds possess a lot of quality while being sold at a fraction of the prices of natural diamonds
and have seen a rise in demand and in the total diamond market share. While DeBeers has played

Evolution And Virality Of Memes
Evolution and Virality of Memes
How have memes evolved and why do they go viral? Memes did not originate from the internet
contrary to popular belief, but have actually been appearing in culture for centuries. The main
difference between internet memes and pre internet memes is the medium in which they go viral. A
meme has two definitions; Dawkins definition, and internet memes. Charles Dawkins first coined
the term meme in 1976 in his book The Selfish Gene, and was referring to cultural ideas, beliefs,
fashion, practices, etc. In his book he came up with a theory that memes develops similar to how
genes spread in organisms. Memes transmit from one mind to another through speech, writing, or
any form of communication. Likewise genes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This square dates back to 79 AD in the ruins of Pompeii, where Jewish people inscribed it on
doorways and various objects to protect from evil. Later, in about the Third to Fifth century,
Christians adopted this practice as their own. The meme had spread and mutated to accommodate
both cultures. Likewise, Sator Square has still survived to this day. However, it s not as popular as
it once used to be nor used as much. Additionally Kilroy was Here is another meme that spread
similarly to internet memes, and the sator square. James J. Kilroy created it during World War II.
He inspected the bottoms of warships under construction, and after he had completed the
inspection he would write in chalk Kilroy was Here on the bottom of them. The chalk
consequently, would be erased too easily though, so he scrawled Kilroy was Here in crayon on
the bottom of the ship instead. The image that s associated with this phrase is a bald headed man
with a large nose peeking over a ledge however, predates the phrase. There s conflicting ideas to
who drew it first, but most people think the British cartoonist George Edward Chatterton drew it in
1938. Somehow this image united with the phrase, and formed the Kilroy was Here meme.
Subsequently this spawned a joke within the GIs of America. It became a challenge to place this
phrase and picture in unusual places, and is said to be on Mt. Everest, the Statue of Liberty, and on
the moon. Both of these

A Critique of the Behavioural Theories of Learning
A CRITIQUE OF THE BEHAVIOURAL THEORIES OF LEARNING One of the most debated
issues in psychology pertains to the nature and meaning of learning. The systematic study of
learning is relatively new as it was in the late nineteenth century that studies in this realm began in a
scientific manner. Psychologists borrowed techniques from the physical sciences, and conducted
experiments to understand how people and animals learn. Psychologists have tried in the past to
define and explain how learning takes place. Two of the most important early researchers were
Ivan Pavlov and Edward Thorndike. Among later researchers, B. F. Skinner was important for his
studies of the relationship between behaviour and consequences. They are also known... Show more

They found as reported by Myers D.G, that half a second works well. However if the food i.e. the
unconditioned stimulus (UCS) appeared before the bell, the conditioned stimulus (CS), then
conditioning is not likely to occur. The bell signals the arrival of food. Pavlov called this the law
of contiguity: The closer the two are in time (with neutral stimulus preceding presentation of
UCS), the stronger the conditioning (generally speaking) Extinction. This concept is similar to
common sense idea of forgetting. Pavlov found that when he sounded the tone repeatedly without
presenting food, the dog s salivation also decreased. After the conditioning phase, the
conditioned response (CR) gets weaker when the conditioned stimulus (CS) or the bell is not
accompanied by the UCS (food). It gets weaker not because the organism no longer remembers
the UCS CS connection. It gets weaker because CR is somehow inhibited. Spontaneous recovery.
After extinction trials, the dog will start to salivate again in response to CS after only one pairing
of UCS and CS. Pavlov called it spontaneous recovery, where the weakened conditioned response
reappeared after a rest pause. This according to Pavlov occurred because extinction was suppressing
the conditioned response and not eliminating it. (Myers D.G. p 295) Generalization. Generalization

The Sui, Tang, And Song Dynasties Of China
The Sui, Tang, and Song Dynasties of China each offer numerous examples of how the past can
influence the future. Ideas that were new at the time have become common place in today s world.
And these Dynasties evolved to be very different from the ones that had come before.
Under the Sui dynasty, there were a number of significant changes. First, a new political system was
established the Three Departments and Six Ministries. The Departments Zhongshu Sheng, Menxia
Sheng, and Shangshu Sheng were similar to the US executive, legislative, and judicial branches.
The Ministries were under the authority of the Shangshu Sheng. Li4 Bu would be known as human
resources today. Hu Bu mainly handled the financial aspects and territorial resources. Li3 Bu dealt
with etiquette. Bing Bu would be comparable to the US military system. Xing Bu was the court and
law enforcement ministry. Gong Bu handled a variety of affairs, such as transportation, farmland
cultivation, and water conservation. (Sui Dynasty, Travel China, n.d.)
Second, a more peaceful and stable society spurred economic development. The agricultural
acreage increased greatly which promoted the crop yield. The skills industry made some new
advances with the shipbuilding technology reaching a new high level. Meanwhile, the commerce
in Luoyang was fairly prosperous and in order to develop the national economy, a series of
policies, such as Juntian (equal division of fields) System and Zutiao (tax moderation) System, were

Cold, plain, desolate and uninhabited. These are the didactic words Debra Marquart uses to

though Marquart is uninterested or dislikes the land she grew up in, however, her ideas are

Biography of President Andrew Jackson
I agree that with the rating of sixth overall that Andrew Jackson received for his presidency.
Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States and a member of the
Democratic Party. Jackson made many positive and negative decisions as the president of the
United States. Andrew Jackson expanded the power of the president and he also expanded
democracy during his time as the president of the United States. Andrew Jackson has gone down
as one of the best presidents in United States history and that s because he did many great things
to improve the United States. Throughout his presidency he constantly abused his power as the
president and did many things that expanded the powers of the president. One of the biggest
things that President Jackson did while in office was pass the Indian Removal Act. The Indian
Removal Act of 1830 was when Jackson forced all the Indians to move to the land acquired in
the Louisiana Purchase, while the Supreme Court declared this unconstitutional. Many of the
Indians went peacefully, but many of the Indians also decided to protest and take it to the
Supreme Court (Darrenkamp). While the court did side with the Indians Jackson and Congress
forced the Indians to give up their land. The federal troops were called in to escort the Indians to
their new land. Fifteen thousand Indians were forced to move and while on their way about a
third of the Indians died, and this event became to be known as the Trail of Tears (Darrenkamp).

willing work for Min and Aunty Peuve. But I guess I would have to be in her shoes to see if I
would make the same decisions. However, the longer I thought about it, I began to see that
Somaly Mam was not working for Min because she was trying to help him, but instead she was
trying to help herself. Somaly Mam for a time at least had faith that Min s business idea might
finally help her escape the grasp of the sex slave industry. While I am sad that her life was not
able to take a turn for the better at that time I am ecstatic that she did not continue to live with that
man who was clearly using her for monetary gain. What disgusted me even more was that Min,
actually came back to Aunty Peuve s and tried to hassel Somaly Mam for money. Is it me or does it

The Importance Of Antibiotic Stewardship
Antibiotic Stewardship Antibiotics continue to be powerful weapons to fight infection, but
inappropriate use makes the treatment of microbial infections increasingly challenging. Successful
antibiotic stewardship can help mitigate the development of antimicrobial resistance and lead to
better outcomes (MLO, 2016). The first antibiotic introduced and produced in the United States was
penicillin in the 1940 s. From 1940 to 1960 more than 20 new classes of antibiotics were introduced,
and resistant strains developed within five years of each new class. Although the research for new
antibiotics has stalled, the use and distribution of antibiotics has increased (Smith, 2015). The Joint
Commission recently introduced a new Medicine Management standard to implement antibiotic
stewardship programs, stating that current scientific literature emphasizes the need to reduce the
use of inappropriate antimicrobials in all health care settings due to antimicrobial resistance (JCO,
2016). According to the World Health Organization (WHO): Antimicrobial resistance threatens the
effective prevention and treatment of an ever increasing range of infections caused by bacteria,
parasites, viruses and fungi and is an increasingly serious threat to global public health that requires
action across all government sectors and society (WHO, 2017). The Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) states, Improving antibiotic prescribing and use in hospitals is imperative to

Cannabis Persuasive Speech
As we venture into the wonderful world of cannabis, not only do a plethora of smells, tastes, and
sensations bombard us, but a gang of newfound terms that many haven t been familiarized with
yet. Below is a list of words often brought up at various events or casually within the cannabis
culture. Having a conversation with a well educated stoner will be seemingly less complex after
taking a look at this mini lexicon of cannabisterminology.
Alcohol Extraction: Stripping cannabis of its cannabinoids/trichomes oils using alcohol (either
ethyl or isopropyl) as a solvent.
We crafted this golden hash oil from the Afghani strain using alcohol extraction.
Anther: On male cannabis plants, the hanging oval shaped structures that dangle from filaments ...

The full name for the plant is Cannabis Sativa or Cannabis Indica.
CBD: Abbreviation for cannabidiol, the second most common cannabinoid other than THC that
creates a relaxing effect that causes the consumer to become stoned instead of high.
We got a high CBD strain to help with the pain in our back since work is really straining.
CBN: Abbreviation for cannabinol, the third common cannabinoid found in cannabis. It s known to
help the consumer sleep and is only mildly psychoactive.
This indica has more CBN than a normal strain, it knocked me out cold last night!
Carb Cap: When dabbing, the titanium/quartz/ceramic device that fits over a domeless nail,
allowing the consumer to inhale take a complete hit as it keeps the nail slightly cooled at a lower
temp. This in turn, creates a more flavorful dab.
I need the carb cap otherwise I ll cough my lungs out if I try to dab without it.
Cashed: When all the cannabis in a bowl is smoked and there s nothing more than ash.
You handed me a cashed bowl, let s load another one!
Cheeba: Slang for cannabis, perhaps deriving from Colorado s edible company Cheeba Chews.
Don t spill the cheeba on the cheetah

It reflects in that the parents who participated in the study got terminated in the use of service.
Surprisingly, guided with the help of the researchers themselves, these parents were able to organize
their own groups gearing to address their concerns. In article A, to be an insider itself in most
scenarios violates the ethics of informed consent. Although the author made mention that her aim
was to capture the breadth and depth of understanding the vulnerable group of which the researcher
herself was part and parcel. In article A, there are instances of violation of ethical principle. The
researcher mentioned that some of the questions brought previous painful reactions and experiences
from respondents and the researcher. In my opinion these experiences may have reopened the
wounds and harm to vulnerable group the researcher himself or herself must also be accounted for.

The Film Analysis Of The Movie Mementos
Mementos the backwards version of a masterpiece In the movie mementos It illustrates an
investigator for an insurance agency who lost his memory and in an interesting yet confusing and
frustrating way shows him solving his wife s murder. It takes an interesting approach to storytelling
by putting the viewer in as much of a confused state as much as the main characterhimself. Which
leads to the viewer of the movie to become somewhat lost in the vagueness of it all.mementos is a
movie that has succumb to failure due the fact that the story was too confusing, Needless
information and this style of storytellingsimply does not function . To begin the story it started off
with the death of who would later become a main character when it shows him in a scene later on it
sends the viewer into confusion most would probably assume their version of the movie is messed
up. This initial confusion with nothing to address it but a black and white short already causes
disinterest in the movie.then as you begin to understand things the movie makes you feel as though
you are watching the same thing which makes it far more difficult to notice smaller points in the
movie the must be picked up. Then they introduce someone completely different natalie who acts
sometimes acts as though they are close and other times fools with his emotions which gives us
another uncertainty, who is this? We ask ourselves how long has she known him? Movies can be
unbearable and unwatchable when they offer up

Essay on Easier, Faster Way to Entertainment
As time has progressed in society and people s values have changed, the entertainment industry has
seemed to focus less on talent and ethics, and more on social and appearance appeal. Media and
technology have become more important in everyday life, so a person may rely heavily on those
factors for pretty much anything, especially entertainment. In today s society, people have to
complete tasks in very little time, this concept has transferred over to how people spend their
leisure time; things have to be made available quickly so that little to no work has to be applied to
in order to relax. For example, the number of people who read books has been decreasing in recent
years. People simply want an easier, faster way to be entertained.... Show more content on

The media is constantly presenting beautiful, perfectly shaped super models and celebrities to
public viewers. This unrealistic image gives children and teens, specifically girls, an illustration of
what they should be, according to the media.
Movies and television have also contributed to value and personality change in society. Yes,
blaming the media for acts of violence cannot entirely be justified, but it certainly seems to have
helped evolve such things. Over the past few decades, movies, television, and even some music
have progressed to an aggressively violent stage. It seems the media often depicts gruesome, dark,
and complex images in movies and television. Viewing movies where innocent individuals are hurt
or harmed seem to grow increasingly enjoyable to audiences.
Showing women as things and not beings worthy of respect have become trendy in the media as
well. Some rap videos, often portray women as scantily clad and obedient to commands or
desires. These kinds of images are degrading to women who have worked to break the glass
ceiling in the business world, and to prove that women can be just as or even more powerful than
men can.
The public has become increasingly reliant on the media, so entertainment has had to change with
today s society to fit those people s needs and keep hold of their attention. The

Veertebrae Body
Vertebrae, while differing slightly based on their region in the spinal column, typically consist
of a body and vertebral arch. Anterior to the arch, the body (1) is the thick, broad part of the
bone that serves to support and bear weight. Between each individual body is the intervertebral
disk space. The vertebral arch is made of several parts. Pedicles (2) extend posteriorly from the
body and curves to the laminae (2). These two parts encircle the vertebral foramen with the body.
Above and below the pedicles are the superior and inferior vertebral notch, respectively, and they
form the intervertebral foramina when stacked. Zygopophyseal joints are formed by the superior
and inferior articular processes. At the junctions of the pedicle and lamina, the transverse processes
(2) protrude laterally. The spinous process (1) is the most posterior part of the vertebrae and
projects from the junction of the left and right laminae.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
C1 (Atlas) and C2 (Axis) are unique; C1 has no vertebral body and C2 has a distinct structure
called the odontoid process, which extends up to C1. Thoracic vertebrae progress in size and
appearance as it goes from the cervical to lumbar region. An important feature of the thoracic
vertebrae is that they have demifacets for rib articulation. Lumbar vertebrae are the inferior most in
the vertebral column. Therefore they are the largest and strongest to sustain most of the body
weight. Thoracic and lumbar intervertebral foramen is located 90В° from the midsagittal plane,

Racial Injustice in A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine...
I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white
boys and girls. by Martin Luther King Jr, the dream that is still unfulfilled. White supremacy,
black inferiority, Jim Crow law, segregation, racial terror, and racial inequality are the most
common topics of American history. The quote of Martin Luther King Jr asserts the truth that
racial injustice was in the vein of the American dream. He hopes someday that injustice, the view
that African Americans are inferior will go away, and they will be treated equally like a full
human being. The theme of racial injustice is prevalent in both A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine
Hansberry and Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin stories. Both of the stories... Show more content on

Later in the story, another bomb attack reported in the paper which was much closer to home: a
racially motivated attack against a black family integrating a white neighborhood. That event was
announced by the Younger s neighbor Mrs. Jonson, when they were ready to move to the all
Whites Clybourne Park. Example scenarios from the above certainly provide the evidence of racial
terrorism, and its fear among the Black community.
In contrast Sonny s Blues , talks about the fear of direct physical harm. Narrator s mother
described that in a moonlit night some dunk white folks killed his uncle in front of his father
which is a horrific act of racism. However, mama says, I ain t telling you to make you scared of
bitter or to make you hate nobody. I m telling you this because you got a brother. And the world ain
t changed (346). Comment of the narrator s mother clearly shows the view point of the African
American people of that time to their American dream, and how they were living in fear of physical
harm.
Jim Crow law legalized the segregation between the blacks and whites thought out the USA in the
19th century, and that led to the discrimination such as housing inequality and neglected segregated
black community. That law allowed the whites to discriminate black people from the equal
opportunity of housing and prohibit blacks from living in

Four Seasons Goes to Panama
INTRODUCTION
Panama is with the most important airport hubs in Latin America and Panama s Government is
going to extend Panama Canal which would increase the number of tourists. These days, the
industries of construction and hotel are expending quickly and the supplyI is unable to meet the

  • 2. Church Of The Holy Seulchre Research Paper Church of the Holy Sepulchre is also known as the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre and the Church of the Resurrection (Orthodox Christians). Originally identified as being outside the settlement of Calvary, it is located in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israel and is considered one of the holiest sites in the world, as well as being a central destination for Christian pilgrims. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre was originally built by the Roman Emperor Constantine (272 337) in 330 CE upon the site of a Roman temple. It has since been controlled by Arab rulers, reclaimed by Christian crusaders, repeatedly ruined by fires and conquests, and long been subject to regional religious and political tensions. During conversion of the Roman temple, a tomb claimed to be the site of Jesus burial, known as the Rock of Golgotha was discovered. In addition, Helena, Constantine s mother, is purported to have found the True Cross upon which Jesus was crucified. In response to these discoveries the original Roman Church incorporated the locations of Jesus crucifixion, his tomb, and the site of his resurrection. The church was severely damaged in 614 when the Persian Emperor Chosroes II (550 628) conquered Jerusalem and captured Holy relics, including the True Cross. In 630 Emperor Heraclius (575 641) reclaimed the region, recaptured the True Cross, and began rebuilding the Church. However, the site was again conquered by Arabs in 638, though notably the Church of the Holy Sepulchre remained a Christian site of worship which was not destroyed or converted to a Muslim ... • 3. Seraphina Poem Analysis In the land of Novyd lived a bard named Spero, who always wore his heart on his sleeve. He traveled from court to court, charming the nobles with his songs and poems about love. In each court, Spero longed to meet the love of his life: he pursued any woman who caught his eye, offering them a piece of his heart in exchange for their affection. One evening in the castle courtyard, he came across a noblewoman surrounded by her handmaidens. They trembled in her presence, scampering away like frightened rats once she waved them away. She was Seraphina, the fairest lady of the court. No man could win her over. Nonetheless, Spero was determined to woo her. He spent the next few days picking the most vibrant flowers in the garden: blue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he returned, the whole court marveled at sight of his kaleidoscopic bouquet, including the woman, who introduced herself as Lyra. Spero sang his song for her, not a note out of place, then handed her a piece of his heart. She accepted with delight. The next few days passed without incident. They were a happy couple, smiling and holding hands at every opportunity. The bard found himself performing better each night on stage and in bed for his new love ignited all his senses. But one night, Lyra came to him in tears. I ve lost the piece of your heart, she cried, if you will give me another, I promise I shan t lose it. And so Spero did, for he knew that lovers ought to forgive each other. He felt himself grow weaker as he gave her a new piece, but he wanted nothing more than to see Lyra happy. A couple of days passed and she lost another piece, and another, and another, until Spero finally drew the line. His voice was hoarse as of late, and he could no longer sing as well as he used to. I cannot give you any more pieces of my heart, he said. You do not value it enough to take care of it. Lyra was hurt by his words, but knew that her chances of being forgiven were spent. She gathered her belongings from his bedchamber and bade him a tearful farewell. Sports have played an important part of my life since I was young taking a parent and me swim classes at the local YMCA. I was that kid who played almost every sport out there, from karate to soccer to basketball. Even after all that, it still took me still took me years to find my true passion as far as sports go. Both of my parents played volleyball growing up so it has always been in my life one way or another. My two brothers couldn t care less about it, rather spending their days playing soccer and video games. All of a sudden, the first day of school, middle school, rolled around. My school offered a sports program, so without hesitation, I had decided to sign up for volleyball because I wanted to try something new and try to find an activity that would keep me happy and busy. Sixth grade flew by and seventh soon came. As per the one year tradition, I signed up to play volleyball. This year, I played on my school s varsity team. Seventh grade was the year I tried out for club volleyball. My first year of club volleyball is where I had some of the best and worst experiences of my life. My teammates are some of my best friends, who I have known from previous sports our parents made us suffer through. This team also happens to be one of the worst in the league, taking second to last place in the league. We lose every tournament, much less every game. And everyone likes to win, ... The system depended throughput of multiplier and a system became slow therefore we need to design high performance multiplier. In this paper we implement The Vedic Multiplier and the Reversible Logic Gates and Accumulate Unit (MAC) UrdhavaTriyagbhayam sutra for design of Vedic multiplier and the adder design is done by using reversible logic gate. Reversible logics are also the fundamental requirement for the emerging field of Quantum computing. . VEDIC MULTIPLIER The Vedic mathematics applicable over complex calculation, it reduces the typical calculation into a very simple one. This is so because the Vedic formulae are claimed to be based on the natural principles on which the human mind works. Vedic Mathematics is a methodology of arithmetic rules that allow more efficient speed implementation. It also provides some effective algorithms which can be applied to various branches of engineering such as computing. 1)UrdhvaTiryakbhyam Sutra The Vedic multiplier is depends on the UrdhvaTiryagbhyam sutra (algorithm). These Sutras have been traditionally used for the multiplication of two numbers in the decimal number system. In this work, we apply the same ideas to the binary number system to make the proposed algorithm compatible with the digital hardware. It is a general multiplication formula applicable to all cases of multiplication. It literally means Vertically and Crosswise . It is based on a novel concept through which the generation of all partial products can be done with the concurrent addition of these partial products. The algorithm can be generalized for n x n bit number. Since the partial products and their sums are calculated in parallel, the multiplier is independent of the clock frequency of the processor. Due to its regular structure, it can be easily layout in microprocessors and designers can easily circumvent these problems to avoid catastrophic device failures. The processing power of multiplier can easily be increased by increasing the input and output data bus widths since it has a quite a regular structure. Due to its regular structure, it can be easily layout in a silicon chip. The Multiplier based on this sutra has the advantage that as the number of bits increases, gate delay and area increases very slowly as compared to other conventional ... • 7. The Cause Of The Dancing Plague Of 1518 The Dancing Plague of 1518 was an occurrence of unknown origin. Although still unsolved, there have been theories published on the subject. The theories that have been brought to light are mass hysteria caused by St. Vitus, Ergotism, Tarantism, and an unknown type of heretical cult. None of these ideas are able to truly explain the abrupt Dancing Plague that occurred in Strasbourg. This is not the first time this type of event has occurred. Dancing epidemics have also occurred in other areas of Europe in earlier centuries, but without the same deadly outcome as the 1518 plague. The most popular theory on the cause of 1518 s Dancing Plague is the mass hysteriatheory. John Waller, a firm supporter of this theory, was able to give very convincing evidence. Although the mass hysteria has more creditable evidence, it is still not capable of being the exact cause for the Dancing Plague. The Dancing Plague may be thought of as a faux tale, but there are multiple records to prove that this occurrence is nowhere near a tale passed on through centuries. The Dancing Plague was and still is one of the most mysterious events in the 16th century. The Dancing Plague occurred in Strasbourg in July, 1518. It all began with a woman named Frau Troffea, who began dancing uncontrollably in the middle of the streets. She did this night and day on her own without stopping for nearly a week. The disease began to spread to three dozen other victims after a week of Frau Troffea s solo dancing. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Essay on Pragmatism Pragmatism George Santayana described Pragmatism this way, American pragmatism connects the American experimental and inventive attitude with older philosophical ideas (Stumpf 397). Pragmatism first appeared in the late nineteenth century, but was only widely accepted after World War II. This philosophy assumed that life has a purpose and that rivals theories about man and the world have to be tested against this purpose. Pragmatism caught on in the United States because Americans were focused on results and achieving their goals (Troxell 1). What is known as Pragmatism was a broad philosophical movement that affected the American way of thinking in logic and science, psychology and religion, and ethics and social behavior. ... Through thought, we try to fix our beliefs so that we shall have a guide for our action, Peirce said. He was also an advocate of the scientific method. He said this requires not only a truth that a person believes but also how he arrived at this truth, and also requires that there be a certain degree of cooperation between the members of the scientific community. In correspondence with the scientific method Peirce believed that to do you must have a belief that requires thought (Joad 341). In addition, he believed that whether it is for devotion to Christianity or own personal consolation he should believe in a future life rather then base all beliefs on what science implies (Choron 286). William James studied pragmatism through psychology and religion. James thought originally about philosophy; The whole function of philosophy ought to be to find out what definite difference it will make to you and me, at definite instants in our life, if this world formula or that world formula be the true one. In James book The Varieties of Religious Experience he took a positive attitude toward religion yet opposed the idealist schools of speculative ideas (Choron 283). James was a very methodical man. The question is does the fetus have the same rights as an adult, so that it has the same right to not be killed. There are many debates on whether or not a fetus is human. Those who believe that there is no life related to a fetusthen they believe that it has no rights. On the flip side, others may argue that abortionis the killing of an innocent human life. The question, When does life begin? appears over and over again throughout these debates and within cultures.Thompson believes that the question of whether a fetus have the same rights as a human being is irrelevant. A majority of offenders with a mental illness still end up incarcerated. Even though the United States only makes up 5% of the world s population we account for 25% of the world s prisoners. Which converts to 2.2 million prisoners and about 1.2 million of those people have a mental illness (Fellner). Mental illness within our jails and prisons has become very prevalent within our correctional systems over the last 10 years. The number of men and women who have a mental illness that end up in jail or prisongrows day by day. For those who do not go into the prison with a mental illness, will very likely develop some form of mental illness after being released from incarceration. The mentally ill do not belong in prison, the purpose for incarceration is retribution, incapacitation, deterrence and rehabilitation, and though it is originally meant for all of these purposes, it has lost its meaning. Correctional facilities are not built to provide treatment for the mentally ill, and the people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness cannot get the long term treatment they need inside of a prison cell. • 11. Main Themes Of Dissatisfaction In The Mayor Of Casterbridge The Mayor of Casterbridge has two main themes. One theme is dissatisfaction, which is a main reason when the characters end relationships with each other. The other theme is the indelibility of the past. Some characters had long term effects when their past was learned by other characters. People were not forgiven for their past as easy in the early nineteenth as they are today. The author used these themes very well, for people to assert into their life. Dissatisfaction is very major in The Mayor of Casterbridge because many relationships are broken and mended in the book. Those characters are dissatisfied with their current state of being, so they move on to a different stage in their life, which can lead to other relationships being repaired. The author is teaching the readers to move on, if something in their life is dissatisfying them. One example of a character being dissatisfied is when Newson fakes his death because he knows Susan is not satisfied and wants to go back to Michael Henchard. Susan found out that she didn t have to stay with Newson, so she wanted to go back to Henchard. Susan became unpleasant to be around, and Newson knew she wanted to go back to Henchard. On page 288, in The Mayor of Casterbridge, Newson says Since I m here, here I ll bide, I thought to myself; twill be most kindness to her, now she s taken against me, to let her believe me lost; for, I thought while she supposes us both alive she ll be miserable; but if she thinks me dead she ll go back to him, and the child will have a home. Newson faked his death to satisfy Susan and bring happiness in her life. When Lucetta met Farfrae, she became dissatisfied with Henchard. To Lucetta, Farfrae was a younger and better version of Henchard. Lucetta was going to marry Henchard, but she knew that she should would not be happy with him. Lucetta also found out about Henchard s past, and she was dissatisfied with the way he treated his first wife. • 12. Disadvantages Of Newspaper Article In research, there is a wide variety of ways in which researchers and journalists go about presenting their, or others, findings. Because many of these findings have the possibility to have significant impact on the general populace, it is important to know the context from which this information is being published, as many findings may be influenced by source, representation, bias, outside funding or goals, and many other extraneous factors. In this case, the Lillienfeld et al (2014) article and The Telegraph article are both presented in vastly differing ways, both with their own advantages and disadvantages. These two articles bring to the forefront many differences in the ways that scholarly and popular media formats address findings. The article by Lillienfeld et al (2014) serves as a great example of the general advantages and disadvantages held by scholarly articles. One of the most pronounce advantages of scholarly articles is that they often go into more depth in their definitions and explanations of the variables and findings of their research. In the Lillienfeld et al (2014) article, a great example of this is in their goal statement near the beginning of the article. They very clearly explain that there is very little research into the implications of [psychopathic] traits for everyday functioning with large amounts of citation, leading into their goal, in which they try to determine the extent to which [psychopathic] traits display response penetration in ... • 15. The Difference Between Love And Lust What is the difference between love and lust? According to the dictionary, love is a feeling of strong and constant affection for a person. On the other hand, lust is a strong sexual desire for another ( Merriam Webster ). The definitions of love and lust are complete opposites. Love is a constant feeling, while lust is impermanent. Yet, the two are always confused between people. This is because of the word strong in both of the definitions. When a person is deeply in loveor is consumed by lust, the feelings are both strong. Therefore, it is sometimes challenging to differentiate. Banksy, a well known street artist, realized the problem with love and lust, and decided to teach people a lesson by painting a piece of street art called Waiting in Vain...at the Door of the Club. Banksy is a very renowned street artist who keeps his identity unknown. His artwork is portrayed by striking images, often combined with slogans, [which] engages political themes, satirically critiquing war, capitalism, hypocrisy and greed ( Banksy Biography ). He first started his bold street art in Bristol, his hometown located in London, but quickly spread to the United States of America. In the U.S., Banksy targeted the most populated cities; this was due to the fact that it was easier for him to spread his messages. The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Iliad The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Iliad are two extremely different stories, The Iliad being a tale of war (specifically the Trojan War) while the Epic of Gilgamesh is a true Epic in the sense that it is a journey, all about the development of the characters. While there are many different themes throughout both books, one of the most important themes is the way that friendship develops both of the people involved and the way that it ties into the story overall. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu and Gilgamesh start off as polar opposites while in the Iliad, Achillesand Patroclus are great friends from the very beginning. In each of the stories, one of the friends dies and it leaves a permanent mark on the other that changes his behavior in a way that sets the stage for the rest of the story. However, I think that the greater change of the two happens in Achilles since the death of his friend leads him to completely change character, from the man who allows his friend to take his place while he cowers in fear to the man who leads the charge that wins the war. Gilgamesh on the other hand, continues the journey that he and Enkidu started but even until the end he struggles with his selfish nature. Prior to Enkidu and Patroclus their deaths, the friendships in each of the stories already have a profound effect on Gilgamesh and Achilles. The policing system began in the 1700s when various forms of policing began to pop up around the country, there were many different variations of keeping the peace and catching criminals that were implemented, some very different from the police force that we know today. It originally started off with the introduction of parish constables, of whom assisted with the enforcement of order and justice within their local communities. More often than not these officers tended to be English and middle class. Being a parish constable wasn t a full time job however as all of the officers had other jobs to return to after they had finished their policing term. • 19. Education, Education And Education Governments play a vital role in providing some of the basic amenities such as health, education and security to its citizens. According to Milton Friedman, the government has a very important and critical role to play in the provision of education and more specifically provision of primary education. Government involvement in the educationsector can either be in the form of loans, subsidies or grants to provide an enabling learning environment to the needy students. This paper analyzes the role of subsidies in the support of higher educationbased on Friedman s arguments. In addition, the paper will attempt to explain the spillovers effects resulting from the government support of education. Education plays a primary role in reducing the level of illiteracy and knowledge in the society. Due to different financial position of parents and the high cost of education, the question remains whether the government should intervene and subsidize the financial burdens on the parents. In Friedman s argument, education only benefits the individual student but does not benefit the community through the effects of a positive externality. According to him, education only benefits the individuals rather than the society. Educational benefit to an individual also referred as the positive spillovers effects improve the general welfare an individual. • 20. A Nation Of Laws For America July 4, 1776; Independence day, the day America became its own independent nation from the rule of King George III of Great Britain. With the new country, the Founding Fathers believed it to be best to have law governing the nation instead of man governing the nation. The Founding Fathers wanted a nation of laws due to their experiences with King George III and his unfair rulings. With this, though some people would disagree, it would create what the United States of America is today; a nation of law, protecting the people s civil freedoms. What exactly led the Founding Fathers to their idea of a nation of laws for America? In 1765, the British Parliament passed the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was an act that was implemented in the American colonies that required most printed material to be taxed. The American colonies believed this to be unfair because they did not have a say in the taxation. After months of protesting, the act was vetoed, but a new act was implemented into the colonies in 1773. This act, the Tea Act, forced the colonists to purchase tea from one and only one company. These were the sparks that would soon start a revolution. This is the result of being ruled by man. Because of this, because the Founding Fathers did not want a repeat of what happened with Great Britain, because the Founding Fathers knew that there would be corruption if a nation is ruled by man, they chose America to be a nation to be ruled by law; a nation of laws. • 21. Social Attachment Theory Abstract Despite its roots in evolutionary theory, attachment theory has long split itself into two factions: adaptive and maladaptive. For years, insecure attachment has been implicated as one of the root causes for a number of psychological concerns. (Dozier, Stovall McClough, Albus, 2008) Tsachi Ein Dor, however, theorized something different. His social defense theory posits an entirely new interpretation of attachment that all attachment orientations have adaptive qualities for the environment in which they exist and that society at large benefits when groups are made up of a variety of attachment orientations. This paper seeks to better understand the schemas proposed by social defense theory (sentinel, rapid fight flight, and collaborative)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simpson and Belsky (2008) suggested that, in fact, Charles Darwin was the first attachment theorist. His concept of evolutionary theory the idea that human social behaviors are a reflection of selection pressures is viewed as one of the greatest intellectual accomplishments in the history of science. (p. 133) This theory offered up the proposition that behaviors persist solely because they are advantageous to a species survival. If you understand humans to be primarily social creatures, then under this theory you would have assume that social connection was a behavior honed over time by evolution because it was advantageous to survival. Bringing this idea into the world of psychoanalysis, the object relations school of thought utilizes evolutionary theory to understand humans as biologically wired for connection. This connection (or attachment, as Bowlby termed it) shapes our personality structure and style. (6.5) To Bowlby, attachment is part of a pre programmed behavioral set aimed at keeping an infant in close proximity to his/her main caregiver (typically a mother figure). (3.4) In his first volume on attachment (year), Bowlby proposed that attachment is consistent over time and that an infant will grow to relate to others in the same way he/she related to his/her original attachment figure. This concept is often referred to in the attachment literature as the child s working model. (3.2) While it is believed that this attachment relationship ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Essay On English Reflection Semester One English Reflection August 17, 2017; also known as my first day of officially naming myself a high school student at Lindbergh High School. I walked into my fourth hour, English 1 Honors, not knowing what I would encounter within the next four months of my academic career. English (until now) remained my best and most favorite subject ever since I could remember, however, this year I began to feel the challenge I have always needed, especially with the new grading system. Standard based grading consists of grading each individual category us students consistently remain expected to learn, and master this year. Categories like speaking and listening, reading, writing, and habits of learning . Throughout semester one, I showed an increase of my weaknesses within the categories of speaking and listening and habits of learning while I showed an increase of my strengths in the categories reading and writing. To begin, the first semester of my high school experience as a whole seemed very stressful. By this I mean, completing my work along with adapting to listening to the new teaching styles and getting over my biggest fear speaking in front of the class. Although, anything takes time to get used to, English illustrates a perfect example. As I stated before, the standard based grading system needed some time to get used to, along with the expectations and requirements of honors versus regular. As time went on, my grades show that I never really got used to this. During term one, my habits of learning average ended with an average of 91%. At this time, I realized the level of difficulty English would endure, so I put more effort into it... at the time. During term two, my habits of learning average went down to a 76%. The biggest reason, while in English there consisted a large amount of classwork, it meant an increased amount of classwork for other classes as well. After reviewing this, I feel very disappointed with how my efforts towards academic responsibility weakened, making one of my goals to put forth more effort during semester two. As I said before, high school alone pulled out a magnificent amount of stress, not helped by one of my weakest categories ever since I started school consisted of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Debeers s Diamond Dilemm A Case Study DeBeers s Diamond Dilemma: A Case Study Introduction The DeBeers s group of companies is a leading diamond exploration, mining, retail and trading company that was founded in 1888. The organization has its headquarters in Luxembourg and has mining agreements in close to 30 countries inclusive of the world s leading diamond producers such as South Africa, Botswana, Canada and Namibia (Cadieux, 2005). The company enjoys one of the leading market shares in the natural diamond industry with a current share of around 40%. However, this is a noted decline from past decades where it controlled up to 80% of the world s diamond supply by the 1990s. The decline noted in its apparent monopoly was caused by a number of factors including the rise of new suppliers outside of its control. Additionally, negative press threatened its reputation as it was accused of unfair monopolistic and anti competitive practices, price fixing and even dabbling in the supply and distribution of the controversial blood diamonds. A more significant threat for the company has been the rise of the synthetic diamond market where essentially real diamonds are manufactured within plants and don t have to undergo millions of years of formation underground in addition to grueling extraction processes. These diamonds possess a lot of quality while being sold at a fraction of the prices of natural diamonds and have seen a rise in demand and in the total diamond market share. Memes did not originate from the internet contrary to popular belief, but have actually been appearing in culture for centuries. The main difference between internet memes and pre internet memes is the medium in which they go viral. A meme has two definitions; Dawkins definition, and internet memes. Charles Dawkins first coined the term meme in 1976 in his book The Selfish Gene, and was referring to cultural ideas, beliefs, fashion, practices, etc. In his book he came up with a theory that memes develops similar to how genes spread in organisms. Likewise, Sator Square has still survived to this day. However, it s not as popular as it once used to be nor used as much. Additionally Kilroy was Here is another meme that spread similarly to internet memes, and the sator square. James J. Kilroy created it during World War II. The chalk consequently, would be erased too easily though, so he scrawled Kilroy was Here in crayon on the bottom of the ship instead. The systematic study of learning is relatively new as it was in the late nineteenth century that studies in this realm began in a scientific manner. Psychologists borrowed techniques from the physical sciences, and conducted experiments to understand how people and animals learn. However if the food i.e. the unconditioned stimulus (UCS) appeared before the bell, the conditioned stimulus (CS), then conditioning is not likely to occur. The bell signals the arrival of food. Pavlov called this the law of contiguity: The closer the two are in time (with neutral stimulus preceding presentation of UCS), the stronger the conditioning (generally speaking) Extinction. This concept is similar to common sense idea of forgetting. Pavlov found that when he sounded the tone repeatedly without presenting food, the dog s salivation also decreased. After the conditioning phase, the conditioned response (CR) gets weaker when the conditioned stimulus (CS) or the bell is not accompanied by the UCS (food). It gets weaker not because the organism no longer remembers the UCS CS connection. It gets weaker because CR is somehow inhibited. Spontaneous recovery. After extinction trials, the dog will start to salivate again in response to CS after only one pairing of UCS and CS. Pavlov called it spontaneous recovery, where the weakened conditioned response reappeared after a rest pause. Although they may not have deserved it, or they needed any more money, it would have been worth it to Vince. He would not have to have gone through as much trouble, and he would not have had to do everything on his own, or rely only on himself. If he awarded a bonus in incremental order to encourage competition things would have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Road of Lost Innocence by Somaly Mam Essays Somaly Mam s story has always been a heart wrenching and very difficult story for me to read. Constantly I found myself wanting to put down the book because I could not take the reality of what was actually being done to her. And how no one was taking any interest in her ordeal. Beyond the beatings, rape, and acts of being sold from pimp to pimp there was one particular moment in the book that really threw me for a loop. It was in Chapter 4, when it seemed at least to me that Somaly Mam s life was still very hard and terrible but it at least was beginning to slowing down. And in some ways Somaly Mam was living better because she was not constantly being forced to go out with men, and Aunty Peuve was being relatively nice to her. This is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I knew I owed it to Somaly Mam to at least hear her entire story, if she could survive the terrifying aspects of her life I could hold firm through this short story. I was shocked to learn that Somaly Mam started to work to earn money for Min and still continued to work for Aunty Peuve. I thought to myself why was she continuing to help this man who was clearly just using her like every other disgusting man in her life. I was relieved a little when she stopped working for Min, but then I knew she had to inevitably go back and work for Aunty Peuve. I guess I cannot completely begin to understand what was going on in Somaly Mam s mind that she would willing work for Min and Aunty Peuve. But I guess I would have to be in her shoes to see if I would make the same decisions. However, the longer I thought about it, I began to see that Somaly Mam was not working for Min because she was trying to help him, but instead she was trying to help herself. Somaly Mam for a time at least had faith that Min s business idea might finally help her escape the grasp of the sex slave industry. While I am sad that her life was not able to take a turn for the better at that time I am ecstatic that she did not continue to live with that man who was clearly using her for monetary gain. What disgusted me even more was that Min, actually came back to Aunty Peuve s and tried to hassel Somaly Mam for money. Is it me or does it seem like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Importance Of Antibiotic Stewardship Antibiotic Stewardship Antibiotics continue to be powerful weapons to fight infection, but inappropriate use makes the treatment of microbial infections increasingly challenging. Successful antibiotic stewardship can help mitigate the development of antimicrobial resistance and lead to better outcomes (MLO, 2016). The first antibiotic introduced and produced in the United States was penicillin in the 1940 s. From 1940 to 1960 more than 20 new classes of antibiotics were introduced, and resistant strains developed within five years of each new class. Although the research for new antibiotics has stalled, the use and distribution of antibiotics has increased (Smith, 2015). The Joint Commission recently introduced a new Medicine Management standard to implement antibiotic stewardship programs, stating that current scientific literature emphasizes the need to reduce the use of inappropriate antimicrobials in all health care settings due to antimicrobial resistance (JCO, 2016). According to the World Health Organization (WHO): Antimicrobial resistance threatens the effective prevention and treatment of an ever increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses and fungi and is an increasingly serious threat to global public health that requires action across all government sectors and society (WHO, 2017). It s known to help the consumer sleep and is only mildly psychoactive. This indica has more CBN than a normal strain, it knocked me out cold last night! Carb Cap: When dabbing, the titanium/quartz/ceramic device that fits over a domeless nail, allowing the consumer to inhale take a complete hit as it keeps the nail slightly cooled at a lower temp. • 44. Essay on Easier, Faster Way to Entertainment As time has progressed in society and people s values have changed, the entertainment industry has seemed to focus less on talent and ethics, and more on social and appearance appeal. Media and technology have become more important in everyday life, so a person may rely heavily on those factors for pretty much anything, especially entertainment. In today s society, people have to complete tasks in very little time, this concept has transferred over to how people spend their leisure time; things have to be made available quickly so that little to no work has to be applied to in order to relax. For example, the number of people who read books has been decreasing in recent years. People simply want an easier, faster way to be entertained.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The media is constantly presenting beautiful, perfectly shaped super models and celebrities to public viewers. This unrealistic image gives children and teens, specifically girls, an illustration of what they should be, according to the media. Movies and television have also contributed to value and personality change in society. Yes, blaming the media for acts of violence cannot entirely be justified, but it certainly seems to have helped evolve such things. Over the past few decades, movies, television, and even some music have progressed to an aggressively violent stage. It seems the media often depicts gruesome, dark, and complex images in movies and television. Viewing movies where innocent individuals are hurt or harmed seem to grow increasingly enjoyable to audiences. Showing women as things and not beings worthy of respect have become trendy in the media as well. Some rap videos, often portray women as scantily clad and obedient to commands or desires. These kinds of images are degrading to women who have worked to break the glass ceiling in the business world, and to prove that women can be just as or even more powerful than men can. The public has become increasingly reliant on the media, so entertainment has had to change with today s society to fit those people s needs and keep hold of their attention. The ... Anterior to the arch, the body (1) is the thick, broad part of the bone that serves to support and bear weight. Between each individual body is the intervertebral disk space. The vertebral arch is made of several parts. Pedicles (2) extend posteriorly from the body and curves to the laminae (2). These two parts encircle the vertebral foramen with the body. Above and below the pedicles are the superior and inferior vertebral notch, respectively, and they form the intervertebral foramina when stacked. Zygopophyseal joints are formed by the superior and inferior articular processes. At the junctions of the pedicle and lamina, the transverse processes (2) protrude laterally. • 46. Racial Injustice in A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine... I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls. by Martin Luther King Jr, the dream that is still unfulfilled. White supremacy, black inferiority, Jim Crow law, segregation, racial terror, and racial inequality are the most common topics of American history. The quote of Martin Luther King Jr asserts the truth that racial injustice was in the vein of the American dream. He hopes someday that injustice, the view that African Americans are inferior will go away, and they will be treated equally like a full human being. The theme of racial injustice is prevalent in both A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry and Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin stories. Both of the stories... Later in the story, another bomb attack reported in the paper which was much closer to home: a racially motivated attack against a black family integrating a white neighborhood. That event was announced by the Younger s neighbor Mrs. Jonson, when they were ready to move to the all Whites Clybourne Park. Example scenarios from the above certainly provide the evidence of racial terrorism, and its fear among the Black community. In contrast Sonny s Blues , talks about the fear of direct physical harm. Narrator s mother described that in a moonlit night some dunk white folks killed his uncle in front of his father which is a horrific act of racism. However, mama says, I ain t telling you to make you scared of bitter or to make you hate nobody. I m telling you this because you got a brother. And the world ain t changed (346). Comment of the narrator s mother clearly shows the view point of the African American people of that time to their American dream, and how they were living in fear of physical harm.
