Teen Dating Violence
What is Teen Dating Violence?
Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is described as the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that occurs
within a relationship while dating. TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or former
partner (CDC, 2014). Many adolescents and adults are unaware of the prevalence of TDV but a recent
national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit, slapped, or
intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014). About 20% of
adult women who reported experiencing some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) also reported
experiencing TDV between the ages of 11 17 (CDC, 2014). Also, black students experience TDV
(14%) at a significantly higher rate than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the economic effects associated with IPV are as follows: employers lose between $3 5 billion
dollars per year for increased medical costs of battered victims and businesses lose an additional $100
million dollars in lost wages, sick days, and absenteeism. Also, nearly 2 million workdays are lost to
domestic violence annually and overall domestic violence costs the United States $67 billion dollars,
annually (NCADV, n.d.). IPV causes a huge lapse in profitability and productivity.
Using Public Service Announcements to Address other Public Health Issues Among Adolescents
Public service announcements have long been a tool of public health professionals and organizations
to prevent public health crises through awareness and instruction. For this intervention, public service
announcements via television and radio stations will be implemented to bring about prevention of teen
dating violence. Anti tobacco campaigns have utilized public service announcements to campaign the
detrimental effects of tobacco consumption as well as raise awareness regarding cessation resources.
In 2000, California held a media campaign that accounted for a 2 3% reduction in the sales of cigarette
packs. Despite the seemingly low effect of media campaigning, it has been proven that each dollar
invested in the anti tobacco advertising results into a per capita decrease of 7.7 packs of cigarettes

My Experience In High School Essay
It was a cool fall day, the pleasant cool breeze against my face, as I make my way down the road to
the rendezvous point. I arrive at the high school, and realize I m slightly early. I put the skateboard on
the ground and proceed to attempt to ride it, thankful that no one was there to see. Though I enjoy
skating, the point of meeting at the high school was so that no one had to see our novice attempts at it.
After five minutes of failing to get the board to leave the ground with me remaining on it, Raith and
Mea cross the road just in time to witness my pitiful endeavor. We spent most of the morning cruising
on our boards and sitting, drinking various sodas we had brought, and chatting. It was a rather
enjoyable start to the day, but by the time noon rolled around, most of us had to use the bathroom. So
we collectively decided to head down to the skate park because it was close, had a bathroom, and
sounded like it could be fun. Little did we know how much trouble would come from this little trip.
We arrive at the skate park to find that, surprisingly, no one is there. I make my way to the bathroom,
as well does the rest of the group. Afterwards we can t see the point of heading back immediately. I
attempt a few ramps and fall on my butt a few times so, ultimately, we decide to sit at the bench and
talk. I was facing the road and Raith and Mea sat with their backs to it. At this point, I m already
uncomfortable being here, because I can t skate to save my life and have

Significance Of The Number Seven In Poetry
Before being used by human beings as scientific symbols, the numbers played a symbolic and
mythological role in human life. The connection between the life of the primitive man with the
numbers has certainly been more, if not less, than today. In the current study, the number 7 has been
considered as one of the most efficient mythological symbols and archetypes in the contemporary
poetry to investigate into the role of this mythological number in the perspective of contemporary
poets. The number seven is a symbol of perfection and a combination of three and four. Three is a
symbol of female and four is a symbol of male and that s why it has drawn a lot of attention. Many of
the symbolic and ancient roles of this number are still used in the subconscious of today s human
beings. The contemporary poets have used the number seven in their poems as a sacred and complete

and also in the beliefs of the Germans, there have been nine distances/ intervals similar to the periods

Analysis Of Lady Lazarus By Sylvia Plath
The poem Lady Lazarus by the late Sylvia Plath uses several different literary devices. However, one
stands out more than the rest: Enjambment. The poem has an abundance of uses of enjambment; in
fact, a majority of the stanzas in the poem include the device.
Despite the separation of each stanza, they are all connected through enjambment. Nearly all the
stanzas end with an unfinished sentence or thought, and the first line of the following stanza continues
or completes it. This separation informs the reader of a change of subject, either mild or extreme, but
provides the knowledge that the subjects are still connected. Simultaneously, the break also provides
the emphasis designated to each separate thought.
Though the device is important in every use, the uses following the first stanza are more important in
this poem. That is, these uses bring more meaning. They crack the sentence open like a shell, and the
seed inside is a deeper understanding. The emphasis the break in a sentence provides in poetry is one
of the key components of conveying the mood of the poem.
There is an immediate use of enjambment in this first stanza. The third line is the continuation of the
second sentence, cut off to add emphasis to what Plath is trying to say. Moreover, the break between
the sentence allows emphasis to become present, consequently strengthening the message she is trying
to convey.
The next examples are the second and third stanzas. The sentence begins in line 4 the beginning of

How Did The Government Influence The Development Of The...
Throughout the history of the American government, there have been changes that have ultimately
influenced the way our society runs. From the rapid growth of the thirteen colonies to today s 21
century political and legal systems, the development of the American government has grown
substantially from the creation of the Continental Congress to the what is now known as the United
States Supreme Court. The origins of the American government traces all the way back to the struggle
between the developing colonies and England. During the development of the United States of
America, there arose many issues that resulted in violent outbreaks caused by the overrated demands
from the government against their people. The hatred toward the government took the form of the
Revolutionary War, and its success against England gave the American people the opportunity to
provide a legal way to their ideas as expressed in the Declaration of Independence.
On the other hand, declaring independence was one thing, but figuring out the next step into this new
adventure of freedom was another. No individual had an idea of what was going on or what was going

Question 1
Full employment is when there are enough jobs available so that everyone can work. Full employment
does not necessarily mean that the unemployment rate is 0. At full unemployment, there is frictional
and structural unemployment. Frictional unemployment is the process of people moving from one
occupation to another. Structural unemployment is when the individual do not qualify for the jobs. The
definition of full employment does not have a clear measured rate due to bad data on job industries.

This relationship will cause an increase in the costs per unit of output of products and goods, causing
inflation for the economy.
Question 2B
Question 3A
Date of purchase: $500,000 of shares of stock CPI = 190
One year later: $530,000 price sold CPI = 200
Rate of return = (530,000 500,000)/500,000 = 0.06 = 6%
% of inflation = (200 190)/190 = 0.0526 = 5.263 % inflation
real rate of return = we paid ($500,000/190) X 100 = $263,158 of shares of stock we received
($530,000/200) X 100 = $265,000 from the sale. So real rate of return = (265,000 263,158)/263,158 =
0.7 %
Question 3B
The CPI includes some weight of imported goods, while the GDPD does not include the weights of
imported goods. In this situation, we are calculating the real rate of return, so we use the CPI because
it more accurately expresses the average percentage of price increase of household purchases with
income, as well as goods and services.
Question 4A
The rise increase of inflation expectations lowers the expected real value of future payments to T note
buyers. This makes the current prices less attractive and reducing demand. As a result, the prices of the
T notes will lower, as nominal interest yields increase from 2.8% to 4.2%.
Nominal interest before = 0.6%+2.2% = 2.8%
Nominal interest after one year = .2%+4% = 4.2%

Evaluating Complex Interventions
Evaluating complex interventions is a considerable challenge, especially when dealing with programs
anchored in an ecological approach to health behavior change (Deschesnes, Martin, Hill, 2003). In
fact, very little is known about how best to implement a comprehensive and complex approach to
physical activity policy (Ogilvie et al., 2010; Sallis, Story, Lou, 2009). Therefore, a process evaluation
using program theory was conducted to gain a better understanding of the factors that could influence
the successful implementation of a state plan physical activity plan. However, the implementation of

While they may have represented practitioners with a higher level of interest in implementation, there

those working in the community. The interviews emphasized the Nebraska context but can be used to

How Did The Macedonians Rule Over The Golden Age Of...
Historians regularly categorize important eras throughout history for the distinction it holds. Heralding
a period of prosperity and security in all spheres political, social, economic, and culture is the Golden
Age. Although the history of Byzantium is marked by constant challenges and various levels of
successes, the era of the Macedonian dynasty represents the critical centuries of Byzantine prosperity
and influence. Thus, this paper aims to demonstrate through an exploration of the political, and socio
cultural context of Byzantine society the extent to which the Macedonians ruled over the Golden Age
of Byzantium in the ninth to eleventh centuries. Before this discussion may begin, it is important to
note the various members of the Macedonian dynasty. While starting with Basil I, a peasant from
either Thrace or Macedonian who moved to Constantinople and quickly rose up the ranks, the long
line of Macedonians rulers over the next 194 years were punctuated with rulers who associate
themselves with this dynasty through marriage, a process called dynastic grafting . Using the
legitimacy of the Macedonians to advance their own individual ambitions, various emperors
nevertheless reflect their belief in the consolidated power and authority in the name of the
Macedonians, thus consequently also reflecting the stability of the political structure at the time. This
contrasts other eras of Byzantium history where individuals ruthlessly took power without paying
much mind to

Analysis On Desert Valley s Budget Adjustment
INTERNAL MEMO TO: Marcus Chelford, Ted Amero, and Fernando Lapan FROM: Li Chan, CPA
DATE: December 2, 2014 SUBJECT: Activity 2A Budget Adjustment The purpose of this memo is to
describe the impact of the change in commodity prices on Desert Valley s budget and suggest ways to
mitigate this threat. We conducted some sensitivity analysis on Desert Valley s budget to determine the
expected impact of a 2% increase in the price of malt barley and wheat grain. This is especially
important given the fact that customers are not willing to increase prices to compensate for the rising
cost of these commodities. This puts pressure on Desert Valley to absorb these price shocks and still
meet its other financial objectives. As one would expect, a 2% increase on direct materials will lead to
an increase in variable costs and in turn, a decrease in profits and contribution margin. The budget
impact of this change equates to ($73,322) which represents a (1.06%) hit to profits and a (0.86%)
change in contribution margin. This shows that at this point, small percentage changes in commodity
prices have a relatively minor impact on the company s financial position. However, if commodity
prices continue to fluctuate further or if production volumes increase then this may become a more
prevalent issue. To mitigate the risk of future commodity price changes it is recommended that Desert
Valley adopt a hedging program by purchasing forward contracts. This would allow the company to

reason why I took my brother is because he loves museums, so wanted someone who would not want

The History of Piercings and Tattoos
The History of Tattoos and Body Piercing
The largest organ in the human body is the skin. Some people choose to express themselves through
decorating their skin with tattoos, piercing and other kinds of body art. It s true origin, symbolism,
variety, and modern day versions go way back in time.
The first tattoo known to man, was found on Otzi, the Iceman , in 1991. Otzi himself is from around
4,000 B.C. Fifty eight tattoos were found on him, they were all made of lines and dots. No real
symbolism could be made out of the designs. But scientists have a theory that these tattoos were part
of some sort of medical or spiritual healing process.

Ear lobe piercing is the most common and oldest type of piercing. This was also found on Otzi. He
had pierced ears that had been stretched to eleven millimeters around. Roman soldiers and warriors
would pierce their nipples for mainly two reasons. One was to show strength, courage, and bravery,
and the second was for the use of hanging their capes off of their leather breastplates when in a battle.
Nipple piercing in women started in the 14th century when the necklines of dresses dropped so
incredibly low that practically half of the women s breast would be exposed. So they would decorate
the nipple with gold chains, diamonds, silver, and other stuff to make them more attractive. Other
piercing were used to make the body more decorative and attractive to their personal liking. Reasons
for piercing are different. One reason is that a person wants to decorate their body because they think
it makes them beautiful, or it is a custom in their family. The most common piercing is piercing of the
earlobe. Men and women are both seen with studs, or rings in their lobes. The second most common,
believe it or not, is the piercing of the septum. Other common piercing are of the tongue, bellybutton,
nose, and eyebrow. Body art is popular because it makes a person feel different, or special....in a way.

The Westboro Baptist Church, A Radical Christian Group
The Westboro Baptist Church is a radical Christian group known for their hate. They often protest
Military funerals with signs that read God hates America along with other various and more vulgar
signs. Even though they are a widely disliked group, they have been protected by the first amendment.
Which has led to many debates and even a case in the supreme court on whether or not their protest
against America and her people should be protected by this amendment, Hopefully that question will
be answered in this essay. The Westboro Baptist Church, evil as they are, should be protected by the

America is God punishing the Nation for it s policies on homosexuality, divorce, and abortion laws,

The War Works Hard Analysis
The Relentless Machine
Through satire and irony using her perspective as an Iraqi woman, Dunya Mikhail personifies war as a
machine, rather than the traditional masculine perspective of heroism on the battlefield. In The War
Works Hard war is never ending; it is relentless and without mercy as it destroys everything in its
path, leaving an endless generational wake of scars among the civilian victims caught in the zone that
the war has chosen. The war scars forever.

The World Order s And Private Institution
Over 20 percent of the global population live in unsustainable impoverished conditions, surviving on
less than a dollar a day, with approximately 50 percent living on less than two dollars. Over 2 ½
billion people have a 10% infant mortality rate versus the 0.006% of infant deaths in developed
countries. As conditions worsen the poor rich gap widens through progressive decades, reaching an
average per capita income of 74:1 in 1997. A debate has emerged as the whether developed countries
possess a duty to ameliorate the living condition of the global poor and on what grounds said duty is

Finally, I will critically analyze and disprove the counter argument, which attempts to relieve us of the
aforementioned duties, by discrediting the roles of institutions and the developed in prolongation of
impoverishment. Elements of Pogge s philosophical argument will also be addressed, though the
overall arguments of this paper take a differentiated approach in justifying the acceptance of Western
Society s obligation to the global poor. There exists a global order that proclaims its primary purpose
is to facilitate cooperation between rich and poor nations. The presence of said order creates an
uneven distribution of advantage among nations, an imbalance sometimes thought to be the result of
an array of independent factors. Mathias Risse suggests the global order harms third world nations
through Uncompensated Exclusion; where privileged countries are given several advantages over the
worse off in regards to natural resources. Here the benefits of the impoverished are minimal. This
defies the moral rule of Egalitarian Ownership, which describes all natural resources as belonging to
all humankind. By denying the global poor an equal portion of natural resources during international
commerce the order violates their people s human right to a standard of living adequate for the health
and well being of oneself and one s family, including food, clothing, housing and

Innovations Needed for Deep Space Exploration Essay examples
It is within man s blood and nature to explore, and space is our next New World. Man s first
achievement in space travel was the launch of the Sputnik on October 4, 1957. For the next decades,
space travel was roaring like a rocket, fueled by man s desire to explore, man s desire for knowledge,
and man s desire to beat his enemies. However, these impulses have died out as the well of
government funding has been diverted to wars and debts, and the interest of the American people has
been diverted to wars and debts. Amidst all these issues it is debated as to whether or not space travel
is worth the money and the attention of scientists, particularly since humanity faces so many issues on

thought held awe, inspiration, and desire Man was able to go to space, but only if we try, and by golly,
we will. The final reason was not as evident to the public, but still important. Because of space travel s
popular support, scientists were able to flex their creative muscles with seemingly perpetual funding
while being cool doing so. This brought the best minds together and allowed them to open up to ideas
previously thought impossible, especially with the recent advent of electronics. Not only was it
possible to send a rocket into space, it was possible to send a man into space in fact it was possible for
man to go to the moon. Even further, unmanned vehicles could rove around on the surface of Mars,
and in the future unmanned probes would even escape our solar system. All that changed. The hype of
the space bubble did not immediately burst, but instead slowly leaked out, starting after reaching the
moon, the anti climax of the space station, and finishing out with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Mein Kampf Hitler s Persuasion
Hitler s Persuasion;
How Hitler Persuaded the Public
Hitler had ideas to commit horrible acts of evil, but how did he convince the public to help him do
those things? We need to understand this to prevent things like it from happening again. Hitler
persuaded the public by gaining the power of dictator, brainwashing the public with speeches, and
giving away copies of Mein Kampf to further influence the public. Because of his influence, Hitler
was able to persuade and make loyal to him most of the people in Germany.
Hitler gained power in a decade by becoming popular with the people. Because he helped a group of

He did this by publishing Mein Kampf in 1925 and 1927 in two volumes. By 1939, his book had sold

to rebel or counteract his Nazi ideas, he banned books that were against the Nazi philosophy ( Mein
Kampf. ). In order to get his ideas into people s heads, he made it a ritual to give newly married
couples a copy of Mein Kampf (Mein Kampf). Also, Hitler indoctrinated the public with speeches. By
reading the works of Gustave Le Bon, he learned about how the psychology of the crowd works. From
this information, Hitler learned how to unify the crowd by pointing out a common problem, then he
showed how he can get rid of the problem so that they would want to help him and give him their
loyalty. In order to convince the audience, Hitler used a lot of repetition and stereotypes in his speech (

She is really self conscious about her appearance and she is constantly comparing herself to her best

The Propaganda Model Of The Mass Media
Throughout society, the mass media constantly changes over time. The mass media play a prominent
role in informing the public about what occurs within the world, especially in areas which audiences
do not acquire direct experience and knowledge. This essay will argue that the propaganda model is
no longer valid as it has become outdated. This essay will also discuss the model in relation to the five
filters and draw on Rampton s critique of the propaganda model in contemporary society.
The propaganda model was developed by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky in 1988. The
propaganda model was published in the book of Manufacturing Consent, sought to provide an
analytical framework that attempts to explain the behavioral and performance of the mass media in the
United States (Herman, 2000). Herman and Chomsky (2002) argued that the propaganda model
contains five filters which determine what is news . The first filter is the size, ownership, and profit
orientation of the media, which refers to the cooperation between the mainstream media and the large
conglomerate. The second filter is advertising, which refers to the mass media using advertising as the
central source of income. The third filter is sourcing, which refers to the mass media dependency of
information from the government, business and experts. The fourth filter is flak , which refers to the
negative response that discipline the media. The fifth filter is anti communism, which refers to the

Essay on Constitutional Framers
The Constitutional Framers envisioned a national government that, like Plato s cave, would be at a
distance and out of sight of the everyday affairs and thoughts of ordinary Americans. They had
envisioned Washington D.C. to be a cultural mecca on par with the capitals of European nations, both
economically and socially. The reality of the Washington Community was a disaster compared to the
lofty ambitions of the founding fathers; a desolate purgatory to be endured. The socially and
economically barren capital combined Spartan living conditions with isolation. High turnover was
prevalent in both the house and senate; a disappointment to the Federalists who had hoped for

The lack of historical precedent for building a governmental center ex nihil did not apparently,
generate any misgivings about the bold enterprise (Young, p. 96). The capital was destined to be a
success; so sure of this fact, funds for public buildings were expected to be raised through private land
speculation. Reality was a colossal failure; the founders were so successful at removing congress from
the minds of Americans that few thought to invest in the land speculation. The capital was an
economic disaster, a backwater community saved only by financial intervention from neighboring
states. For it was states, not citizens, that were revealed to have a proprietary interest in the national
establishment, and it was states that came to the rescue when the entire project was threatened with
collapse (Young, p. 99). Even with external funds, the Washington community remained a desolate
swamp no one wished to inhabit. Limited buildings, commerce and trade produced an environment of
barbaric day to day living conditions for congressmen. They worked together, daily assembled in the
noisy auditoriums of the Capital, with no offices but their desks on the floor itself. They lived together
in the same lodging houses. They took their meals together around the same boardinghouse tables.
Privacy was no more to be found during leisure than at work, not even privacy when they retired; in

Essay about Deception in William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
Deception in William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night
In William Shakespeare s comedic play, Twelfth Night, a recurring theme is deception. The characters
in the play used deception for a variety of purposes. Viola s use of deception involves her disguising
herself as a man in order to obtain a job with the Duke of Illyria, Orsino. On the other hand, Maria,
Olivia s servant, writes a letter to Malvolio in Olivia s handwriting to make Malvolio act foolishly
because of his love for Olivia. While some use deception as a means of survival, others use deception
to trick others and make them act foolishly.
The first example of deception in this play was when Viola decides to disguise herself as a man. Viola

She feels pity for Olivia and herself with the statement Poor lady, she were better love a dream (2.2.
25)! Viola s use of deception causes a cross gender love triangle with which she can not deal.
Another example of deception is when Maria, Olivia s servant writes a letter to Malvolio, Olivia s
head servant and Maria s coworker. Maria deceives Malvolio by writing in Olivia s handwriting. In
the letter she says that Olivia loves men in yellow stockings. Remember who commended thy yellow
stockings, and wished to see thee ever cross gartered (2.5. 143 145). Maria knows that Malvolio will
follow this ridiculous deed because of this love for his lady Olivia. Sir Toby Belch says, He shall think
by the letters that thou wilt drop that they come from my niece, and that she s in love with him (2.3.
154 156). Maria places the letter in her garden where Malvolio will definitely find it. Thinking Olivia
will fall in love with him because of his clothing, Malvolio dress up in yellow stockings and goes to
see Olivia. When Olivia sees Malvolio and the way he is acting, she isolates him for fear that he is
insane.
Shakespeare s use of cross dressing and deceitfulness extends beyond the actual writings in the plays
and goes onto the stage. Women were not allowed to perform on stage in Shakespeare s time. . ..all the
great women s roles in Elizabethan and Jacobean plays, from Juliet and Lady Macbeth to the duchess
of Malfi, were written to be

The Rhetorical Analysis Of The Hope Speech By Harvey Milk
Homosexual people have been misrepresented and refuted their basic civil rights in America over the
years, especially during the late 1970s. During this time, Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected
official in California, was one of the most prominent spokesman on the issues surrounding gay rights.
In 1978 he gave a speech impacting the gay citizens of San Francisco and America, the anti gay right
wing movement supporters, straight allies of the gay movement, and politicians in general. His speech
known as the Hope Speech resonates with people even today as Milk attempted to address gay rights
and the importance of electing gay officials in office, using various rhetorical strategies such as
pathos, logos, and elevated diction. As a skilled speaker, Milk bridged the gap between the majority of
his audience who were not too familiar with homosexuality and those who were. In his speech he uses
pathos to persuade people to join or at least sympathize with his cause, logos to provide a logistical
argument with reason, and ethos to increase credibility. Throughout the speech Milk uses pathos to
connect emotionally to the different audiences he is addressing. To his straight allies, he proclaims that
an ally can not be elected to represent gays because friends can t feel the anger and frustration. They
can sense it in us, but they can t feel it. Because a friend has never gone through what is known as
coming out. This topic also strikes a chord in his gay audience, as coming out is a difficult and
terrifying process. He addresses other minority groups, asking indirectly for their sympathy and
assistance, alluding to the African American civil rights movement of the sixties, and the Latin
American culture s struggles. He references Anita Bryant, an outspoken right wing activist, and tells
his audiences not to fear her or believe her, for she is wrong in her assumptions about gay people. He
also talks of the event in San Francisco where a young man was killed for being gay, causing the
audience to sympathize and also create a sense of urgency for people to make a change. Furthermore,
Milk effectively fills his speech with logos, providing logistical arguments and reason. His major
goals are to persuade

The Pros And Cons Of Agent Orange
Agent Orange: An Herbicide with Agency The war in Vietnam was, and continues to be, one of the
most controversial hot button topics in American history. The military s use of dangerous pesticides,
like Agent Orange, is a major part of this controversy. Agent Orange is a defoliant that was widely
used to deforest dense jungle areas to reduce both hiding places and food sources for the Vietnamese.
During the war, American B 52 bombers released over nineteen million gallons of Agent Orange over
the Vietnamese countryside. After ten years of continuous dumping, 1971 finally marked the end of
America s use of Agent Orange and other herbicides. In 1974, the United States government, headed
by Richard Nixon, swore the country would never again use chemical weapons in a first strike. (Levy
and Scott Clark)
That announcement came too late for many Vietnam War veterans and survivors. In addition to the
ethical implications of intentionally eliminating the jungle as a resource, the use of Agent Orange
created other side effects for both civilians and American military members. Exposure to Agent
Orange has been linked to over fourteen serious health issues, including diabetes and many types of
cancer, as well as thousands of birth defects. (Ha) Over the next five years, U.S. veterans began
experiencing symptoms, such as asthma, chronic rashes, and various cancers, as well as an increase in
the number of children born with Down syndrome or spina bifida due to Agent Orange exposure.

The Importance Of Indigenous People In Australia
The role and place of Indigenous Australians in perceptions of national identity is generally neglected.
Contemporary issues among Indigenous people in Australia include racial discrimination, poor health
and access to health services, levels of employment and education (Hampton Toombs, 2013). The
traumatic diaspora of the Stolen Generations and the negative impacts of racial and economic
disadvantage such as segregation and displacement have contributed to Indigenous peoples feeling of
mistrust (Queensland Health, 2015). According to Kelly (2013), a fundamental challenge faced by
educators today is planning and teaching for a future where the tragedies of the past are overcome for
Indigenous students. This essay views these topics as interrelated and discusses them in reference to
whole school best practice to support teaching Indigenous students.
In Australia, educational policies at the Commonwealth level have had set expectations for the
inclusion of Indigenous themes in school curricula for more than two decades (Kelly, 2013). ACARA

Teenage Smoking Satire
Teen Smoking
In the past few years teen smoking has lowered but is still a risk. Most of the teens like to smoke to
show that they are cool. If they do smoke, wherever parents aren t they might be smoking a cigarette.
The main problem with teen smoking is that it is bad for them but addicting as well. They get addicted
and then they can t stop smoking. The chemicals in it, the addiction, and lung disease will kill teens if
no one does anything about it.
The chemicals are horrible in cigarettes. According to The Real Cost there is rat poison, lead, bleach,
and many other harmful chemicals. The number of toxins in cigarettes is 7851. Why would anyone put
that in there body. It is insane, smoking may kill up to 6 million people who smoked as a teen in 2030.
Imagine dying at 32 because you smoked. It would not be fun. ... Show more content on

Hoarding Buried Alive Essay
I freaked out watching TLC show Hoarding, Buried Alive . This show evoked me how modern people
have accumulated stuff excessively. In the TV show, none of them are happy living with massive
material possessions. It even destroys the relationship with their family members. Hoarders felt
uncomfortable, depression and anxiety. This brings me into a question about the negative effect of
consumerism in modern days. Why does living more or less effect to our happiness?
Over the past years, like many other people, I searched my happiness in material possessions. Like an
ordinary 20s something girl, I thrived to shop pretty clothes, shoes, and bags. At the age of 21, I
moved to New York City. A big city with a new place made me a good reason to modernize myself
with updated brand new materials. I bought shoes, sweaters, pants and many other accessories to fill
up my new closet and room. But my happiness did not last long. A few days later, I found more
discounted items, deals online for the same items I bought before. An ... Show more content on

his houses. Then Hill started realizing effects of consumerism. Now he lives in small efficiency

owns less. (qtd in hill) This article reflects my situation when I was a coupon maniac one time.It gives
me an understanding of my greediness on material things is no good for me. Instead of fulfilling our

Effects Of Bulimia On Teenagers
Bulimia s effect on teenagers Eating disorders are not a consequence of only one source, they are
caused by different factors. Physiological, psychological, social and cultural circumstances are the
main sources of these diseases. Anorexia and bulimia are the most common diseases among teenagers.
Anorexia is the needless loss of weight; it is more commonly presented in teenage girls. On the other
hand, Bulimia can be described as the action of binge eating followed by purging. Bulimia is a severe
issue among society due to the reason that it affects a big portion of the adolescent population of the
world. The effects of bulimia range from physical to mental issues. Bulimia is caused by many factors.
The most important one is low self esteem from the teenagers; they compare themselves to the many
different images of perfection social media displays to them. Social pressure, or peer pressure, has a
significant effect on the teenage minds and often drives teenagers to develop symptoms of bulimia.
Toxic social environments can range from the classroom to their own home. Often times what might
appear to others as harmless criticism can be extremely detrimental to a teenager s self image and
cause them to develop symptoms of bulimia. According to studies conducted by the Mayo clinic
simply being a female teenager significantly increases your chances of developing bulimia. In the
modern day, teens admire and pursue the path of several famous people. The majority of

The new Boob tube
People have become so reliant on technology and just in the last couple of years on ipads and Tablets.
These devices have changed a lot of ways that we function; for example, we generally would use a
laptop to do many of the functions that are now executed by the tablets. People have become reliant
upon the convenience and simplicity. These products are sold at nearly every retail store across the
United States, making it a breeze to get one. Therefore, making them as popular, if not more as the
T.V.; with that being said, there are many positives and a few negatives to these products. The use of
tablets (ipads, etc.) has increased greatly in the last couple of years also due to affordability.
Tablets and similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allowing, for major competition in merchandise and cost, just about every company wants to be the
best price and have the best product to offer. This is a blessing to many families and companies,
especially during our hard economic times when money is often scarce.
The conveniences of these devices are second to none. They are lightweight and easy to operate
children and adults alike can handle them with ease. The Tablets and ipads are perfect travel
companions, because they can simply slip into any bag without consuming much space. Due to their
light nature, they can be easily hand held for an extended duration of time. Making it that much more
convenient, and they can be used while standing, as well, unlike a laptop. Their compact design allows
for effortless transportation.
On the other hand, I think that by using tablets, it lessens interactions with others. Children generally,
will play on their tablets instead of going outside to play with siblings or neighbors, or reading books
with their parents. They as an alternative have their books on the tablet and view them that way. This
is very sad because it is slowly pushing out the interpersonal relationships that we often gain as
children. Also, generally most games on the tablet are single player games, making it almost worse
than video games, where children can play tandemly and have some interaction with one another.
Adults are more likely to use them for social media websites such as

Comparison Of SFBT And Narrative Therapy
Charlene, thank you very much for your discussion on SFBT and Narrative therapy.
You pointed out that with SFBT the client is the expert and this is a key element of SFBT and
developing a strength based therapeutic relationship. I truly enjoyed you addressing that the therapist
is there to guide the client but the client is the one that holds the answers for what is best for them and
how to overcome difficult situations. It is true that SFBT is a goal setting is a key element of the
therapeutic approach. SFBT would describe the clients problems by establishing appropriate
boundaries as a means of expressing ones true self. Desire and self reliance can be regained through
their competence (Bannink, 2007). SFBT is future based that strives for positive moments and
experiences than reflecting on past and negative experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Furthermore, a narrative theoretical approach externalizing the words the client uses. If a client
mentions anxiety as the problem, the therapist would ask the client in what ways does anxiety look
like. Implementing exceptions to the current situation opens the possibilities of a change in the
thought process which alters their narrative story for the future.

Economies Of Brazil, Russia, India, And China
BRIC is an acronym for the economies of Brazil, Russia, India, and China combined, originally
projected to be the fastest growing market economies by Jim O Neill of Goldman Sachs first in 2001,
but most prominently in a follow up paper published in 2003 (( Brazil, Russia, India, and China BRIC,
n.d.). The Goldman Sachs thesis states they, Brazil, Russia, India, and China, have the potential to
form a powerful economic bloc ( Brazil, Russia, India, and China BRIC, n.d.). Just thirty prior, Brazil,
Russia, India, and China were all struggling in some fashion. Brazil was dealing with over inflation.
Russia was behind the Iron Curtain. India made the mistake of kicking IBM and Coca Cola out of
their country, and China was in recovery mode from the Cultural Revolution. Now, each of these
countries are on the rise, and China is likely surpass the United States by having the World s largest
economy. One thing that these countries have in common are low labor and production costs. Due to
lower labor and production costs, many companies also cite BRIC as a source of foreign expansion
opportunity, and promising economies in which to invest ( Brazil, Russia, India, and China BRIC,
n.d.). There is no doubt Brazil, Russia, India, and China all have powerful economies that are
currently busting at the seams. . The likely evolution of the BRICs is one filled with economic growth
and rapid expansion. All of the BRICs are on the verge of rapid market growth. In fact, they all

Economic And Cultural Differences In The British Colonies
The British colonies in America were all settled for the reason of bringing power to the mother
country, but as the years progressed the new states were formed and molded by economical and
cultural differences. Every area settled by the colonists had something completely different in it, as an
example some would have mountain or large areas where fish would conglomerate. Each region
having its own specialties allowed for different economies to arise, economies that would rely on each
other in order to operate efficiently and effectively. The cultures in the different regions varied
immensely, as the settlers for each region all had different beliefs and backgrounds. The question is
thus asked, is the colonies separation into different regions caused by the economics that took place in
each region or the culture that grew because of influences from religion or social backgrounds. The
New England colonies were everything North West of Connecticut, which meant that the climate was
relatively cold all year round compared to the other regions. The soil in New England was poor
compared to the soils of the other regions, but some food was still able to be planted such as rye,
pumpkins, and beans. The settlers of this region were forced to find a more sustainable resource, such
as fish. The New England states were some of the largest producers of fish and ocean products such as
whale oil. These colonies didn t have many natural resources besides fish that they exported, so

  • 2. Teen Dating Violence What is Teen Dating Violence? Teen Dating Violence (TDV) is described as the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse that occurs within a relationship while dating. TDV can occur in person, or electronically by a current or former partner (CDC, 2014). Many adolescents and adults are unaware of the prevalence of TDV but a recent national study revealed that nearly 10% of adolescents have reported being hit, slapped, or intentionally physically hurt by someone they had claimed to be dating (CDC, 2014). About 20% of adult women who reported experiencing some form of intimate partner violence (IPV) also reported experiencing TDV between the ages of 11 17 (CDC, 2014). Also, black students experience TDV (14%) at a significantly higher rate than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of the economic effects associated with IPV are as follows: employers lose between $3 5 billion dollars per year for increased medical costs of battered victims and businesses lose an additional $100 million dollars in lost wages, sick days, and absenteeism. Also, nearly 2 million workdays are lost to domestic violence annually and overall domestic violence costs the United States $67 billion dollars, annually (NCADV, n.d.). IPV causes a huge lapse in profitability and productivity. Using Public Service Announcements to Address other Public Health Issues Among Adolescents Public service announcements have long been a tool of public health professionals and organizations to prevent public health crises through awareness and instruction. For this intervention, public service announcements via television and radio stations will be implemented to bring about prevention of teen dating violence. Anti tobacco campaigns have utilized public service announcements to campaign the detrimental effects of tobacco consumption as well as raise awareness regarding cessation resources. In 2000, California held a media campaign that accounted for a 2 3% reduction in the sales of cigarette packs. Despite the seemingly low effect of media campaigning, it has been proven that each dollar invested in the anti tobacco advertising results into a per capita decrease of 7.7 packs of cigarettes (Atkin, ... • 3. My Experience In High School Essay It was a cool fall day, the pleasant cool breeze against my face, as I make my way down the road to the rendezvous point. I arrive at the high school, and realize I m slightly early. I put the skateboard on the ground and proceed to attempt to ride it, thankful that no one was there to see. Though I enjoy skating, the point of meeting at the high school was so that no one had to see our novice attempts at it. After five minutes of failing to get the board to leave the ground with me remaining on it, Raith and Mea cross the road just in time to witness my pitiful endeavor. We spent most of the morning cruising on our boards and sitting, drinking various sodas we had brought, and chatting. It was a rather enjoyable start to the day, but by the time noon rolled around, most of us had to use the bathroom. So we collectively decided to head down to the skate park because it was close, had a bathroom, and sounded like it could be fun. Little did we know how much trouble would come from this little trip. We arrive at the skate park to find that, surprisingly, no one is there. I make my way to the bathroom, as well does the rest of the group. Afterwards we can t see the point of heading back immediately. I attempt a few ramps and fall on my butt a few times so, ultimately, we decide to sit at the bench and talk. I was facing the road and Raith and Mea sat with their backs to it. At this point, I m already uncomfortable being here, because I can t skate to save my life and have ... The connection between the life of the primitive man with the numbers has certainly been more, if not less, than today. In the current study, the number 7 has been considered as one of the most efficient mythological symbols and archetypes in the contemporary poetry to investigate into the role of this mythological number in the perspective of contemporary poets. The number seven is a symbol of perfection and a combination of three and four. Three is a symbol of female and four is a symbol of male and that s why it has drawn a lot of attention. Many of the symbolic and ancient roles of this number are still used in the subconscious of today s human beings. • 6. Analysis Of Lady Lazarus By Sylvia Plath The poem Lady Lazarus by the late Sylvia Plath uses several different literary devices. However, one stands out more than the rest: Enjambment. The poem has an abundance of uses of enjambment; in fact, a majority of the stanzas in the poem include the device. Despite the separation of each stanza, they are all connected through enjambment. Nearly all the stanzas end with an unfinished sentence or thought, and the first line of the following stanza continues or completes it. This separation informs the reader of a change of subject, either mild or extreme, but provides the knowledge that the subjects are still connected. Simultaneously, the break also provides the emphasis designated to each separate thought. Though the device is important in every use, the uses following the first stanza are more important in this poem. That is, these uses bring more meaning. They crack the sentence open like a shell, and the seed inside is a deeper understanding. The emphasis the break in a sentence provides in poetry is one of the key components of conveying the mood of the poem. There is an immediate use of enjambment in this first stanza. The third line is the continuation of the second sentence, cut off to add emphasis to what Plath is trying to say. Moreover, the break between the sentence allows emphasis to become present, consequently strengthening the message she is trying to convey. The next examples are the second and third stanzas. The sentence begins in line 4 the beginning of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. How Did The Government Influence The Development Of The... Throughout the history of the American government, there have been changes that have ultimately influenced the way our society runs. From the rapid growth of the thirteen colonies to today s 21 century political and legal systems, the development of the American government has grown substantially from the creation of the Continental Congress to the what is now known as the United States Supreme Court. The origins of the American government traces all the way back to the struggle between the developing colonies and England. During the development of the United States of America, there arose many issues that resulted in violent outbreaks caused by the overrated demands from the government against their people. The hatred toward the government took the form of the Revolutionary War, and its success against England gave the American people the opportunity to provide a legal way to their ideas as expressed in the Declaration of Independence. On the other hand, declaring independence was one thing, but figuring out the next step into this new adventure of freedom was another. • 11. How Did The Macedonians Rule Over The Golden Age Of... Historians regularly categorize important eras throughout history for the distinction it holds. Heralding a period of prosperity and security in all spheres political, social, economic, and culture is the Golden Age. Although the history of Byzantium is marked by constant challenges and various levels of successes, the era of the Macedonian dynasty represents the critical centuries of Byzantine prosperity and influence. Thus, this paper aims to demonstrate through an exploration of the political, and socio cultural context of Byzantine society the extent to which the Macedonians ruled over the Golden Age of Byzantium in the ninth to eleventh centuries. Before this discussion may begin, it is important to note the various members of the Macedonian dynasty. While starting with Basil I, a peasant from either Thrace or Macedonian who moved to Constantinople and quickly rose up the ranks, the long line of Macedonians rulers over the next 194 years were punctuated with rulers who associate themselves with this dynasty through marriage, a process called dynastic grafting . Using the legitimacy of the Macedonians to advance their own individual ambitions, various emperors nevertheless reflect their belief in the consolidated power and authority in the name of the Macedonians, thus consequently also reflecting the stability of the political structure at the time. This contrasts other eras of Byzantium history where individuals ruthlessly took power without paying much mind to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Analysis On Desert Valley s Budget Adjustment INTERNAL MEMO TO: Marcus Chelford, Ted Amero, and Fernando Lapan FROM: Li Chan, CPA DATE: December 2, 2014 SUBJECT: Activity 2A Budget Adjustment The purpose of this memo is to describe the impact of the change in commodity prices on Desert Valley s budget and suggest ways to mitigate this threat. We conducted some sensitivity analysis on Desert Valley s budget to determine the expected impact of a 2% increase in the price of malt barley and wheat grain. This is especially important given the fact that customers are not willing to increase prices to compensate for the rising cost of these commodities. This puts pressure on Desert Valley to absorb these price shocks and still meet its other financial objectives. As one would expect, a 2% increase on direct materials will lead to an increase in variable costs and in turn, a decrease in profits and contribution margin. The budget impact of this change equates to ($73,322) which represents a (1.06%) hit to profits and a (0.86%) change in contribution margin. This shows that at this point, small percentage changes in commodity prices have a relatively minor impact on the company s financial position. However, if commodity prices continue to fluctuate further or if production volumes increase then this may become a more prevalent issue. To mitigate the risk of future commodity price changes it is recommended that Desert Valley adopt a hedging program by purchasing forward contracts. This would allow the company to ... The mass media play a prominent role in informing the public about what occurs within the world, especially in areas which audiences do not acquire direct experience and knowledge. This essay will argue that the propaganda model is no longer valid as it has become outdated. This essay will also discuss the model in relation to the five filters and draw on Rampton s critique of the propaganda model in contemporary society. The propaganda model was developed by Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky in 1988. The propaganda model was published in the book of Manufacturing Consent, sought to provide an analytical framework that attempts to explain the behavioral and performance of the mass media in the United States (Herman, 2000). Herman and Chomsky (2002) argued that the propaganda model contains five filters which determine what is news . The first filter is the size, ownership, and profit orientation of the media, which refers to the cooperation between the mainstream media and the large conglomerate. The second filter is advertising, which refers to the mass media using advertising as the central source of income. His speech known as the Hope Speech resonates with people even today as Milk attempted to address gay rights and the importance of electing gay officials in office, using various rhetorical strategies such as pathos, logos, and elevated diction. As a skilled speaker, Milk bridged the gap between the majority of his audience who were not too familiar with homosexuality and those who were. In his speech he uses pathos to persuade people to join or at least sympathize with his cause, logos to provide a logistical argument with reason, and ethos to increase credibility. Throughout the speech Milk uses pathos to connect emotionally to the different audiences he is addressing. To his straight allies, he proclaims that an ally can not be elected to represent gays because friends can t feel the anger and frustration. They can sense it in us, but they can t feel it. Because a friend has never gone through what is known as coming out. This topic also strikes a chord in his gay audience, as coming out is a difficult and terrifying process. He addresses other minority groups, asking indirectly for their sympathy and assistance, alluding to the African American civil rights movement of the sixties, and the Latin American culture s struggles. He references Anita Bryant, an outspoken right wing activist, and tells his audiences not to fear her or believe her, for she is wrong in her assumptions about gay people. The military s use of dangerous pesticides, like Agent Orange, is a major part of this controversy. Agent Orange is a defoliant that was widely used to deforest dense jungle areas to reduce both hiding places and food sources for the Vietnamese. During the war, American B 52 bombers released over nineteen million gallons of Agent Orange over the Vietnamese countryside. After ten years of continuous dumping, 1971 finally marked the end of America s use of Agent Orange and other herbicides. In 1974, the United States government, headed by Richard Nixon, swore the country would never again use chemical weapons in a first strike. By appearing in the store clad only in bathing suits, they vie for attention. I wonder where the money is coming from, still with that prim look she lifts a folded dollar bill out of the hollow at the center of her nubbed pink top. The jar went heavy in my hand. Really, I thought that was so cute. (86) It s not Sammy that wants the girls to know that he likes them, it s the girls that want Sammy to know they like him. Girls occasionally want all the attention they can get, while not being honest about their true intentions. But then the story shifts and all the attention the girls get from Sammy suddenly turns around. A situation occurs where Sammy seems to grow up due to the way Lengel the store manager treats the girls. This is a blessing to many families and companies, especially during our hard economic times when money is often scarce. The conveniences of these devices are second to none. They are lightweight and easy to operate children and adults alike can handle them with ease. The Tablets and ipads are perfect travel companions, because they can simply slip into any bag without consuming much space. Due to their light nature, they can be easily hand held for an extended duration of time. Making it that much more convenient, and they can be used while standing, as well, unlike a laptop. Economies Of Brazil, Russia, India, And China BRIC is an acronym for the economies of Brazil, Russia, India, and China combined, originally projected to be the fastest growing market economies by Jim O Neill of Goldman Sachs first in 2001, but most prominently in a follow up paper published in 2003 (( Brazil, Russia, India, and China BRIC, n.d.). Now, each of these countries are on the rise, and China is likely surpass the United States by having the World s largest economy. Economic And Cultural Differences In The British Colonies The British colonies in America were all settled for the reason of bringing power to the mother country, but as the years progressed the new states were formed and molded by economical and cultural differences. Every area settled by the colonists had something completely different in it, as an example some would have mountain or large areas where fish would conglomerate. Each region having its own specialties allowed for different economies to arise, economies that would rely on each other in order to operate efficiently and effectively. The cultures in the different regions varied immensely, as the settlers for each region all had different beliefs and backgrounds. The question is thus asked, is the colonies separation into different regions caused by the economics that took place in each region or the culture that grew because of influences from religion or social backgrounds. The New England colonies were everything North West of Connecticut, which meant that the climate was relatively cold all year round compared to the other regions. The soil in New England was poor compared to the soils of the other regions, but some food was still able to be planted such as rye, pumpkins, and beans.
