Abstract Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) is a seven member board that consists of
accounting professionals who establishes and communicates financial accounting and reporting
standards known as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in United States. The
standards quest is to govern the preparation of the corporate financial reports and hence ensuring
transparency, credibility and understandability of the financial statements. To achieve these, there is
need to set guidelines that create uniformity in the preparation of the statements across the region.

They are set to facilitate the preparation of high quality accounts in the United State so as to meet
the user needs and to enhance the growth in accounting methodologies. Additionally, they are set to
make it easy for entities to refer to the already set standards in preparation of their financial
reporting. As such and considering their benefits to the economy, because they create uniformity in
the financial reporting, they facilitate the transfer of labor across the regions in the United States.
Besides, by making the presentation of the statements easier and understandable, the users of
financial statements are able to make their rational investments and analytical decisions regarding
the companies issuing the report. And more importantly, by enhancing understandability,
comparability, relevance and reliability in the preparation of financial statements, potential
investors are able to assess companies financial position for their rational economic decisions.

Summa Becvar Analysis
On fall days like these, Jeanne Summa Becvar used to wait for the kids to get off school so they
could ride their bikes to her family s hot dog truck in Brentwood. Her father, the namesake of
Charlie s Hot Dogs, and mother were there; the smell of the Sabretts steaming and the onion sauce
that made the familyfamous warmed the neighborhood. Now, on almost every Saturday since June,
she s at the Islip Farmers Market selling those famous onions in 16 ounce jars to community
members they brought together for 43 years.
The Charlie s faithful come steadily, and the memories still bowl over Summa Becvar, who
closed the truck in 2006. One Saturday, a teacher remembers how he used to reward his kids for
good grades with the promise of hot dogs. A few weeks later, within two hours, it s a man whose
father took him to Charlie s as a boy, a woman who craved the franks during her pregnancy, and a
father whose son cried out for a Charlie s T shirt as a keepsake after moving to New Orleans. The
memories so enchant Summa Becvar that her two daughters, the third generation of the family
raised on the truck, tease her about her familiar trance at the farmers market.

Rose saw a group of kids having the hot dogs, she d always hand them a bag of chips, too. Charlie

Who Are The Most Powerful Characters In Macbeth
What does it mean to be powerful? In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, Macbeth is initially loyal to
the throne because he helps fight for Scotland and executes the rebel Thane of Cawdor. Later he
becomes a traitor by turning on King Duncan. After Macbeth s actions he falls to his terrible
tragedy. Although Macbeths physical traits can be associated with being powerful, the weird sisters
are the most powerful characters because they can control the weather, alter sleep patterns, and
predict the future.
To begin, the witches reveal they can change the direction and force of the winds. After the first
witch tells her story about the sailor s wife, the second witch says what she will do about the
sailor and his wife. She says I ll give thee a wind (i.iii.12). The witch says that she is going to make
the weather outside windy to push his ship further out to sea. Knowing that the witches can make
changes to the weather shows they are powerful because they can create a storm at any given time,
causing accidents to occur. LIke in the real world, weather that is rainy/ windy ect is associated
with unpleasant things happening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Lady Macbeth tries to reassure Macbeth of what he s done to Duncan he disagrees with
her because of the dreams he has been having. Macbeth says In the affliction of these terrible
dreams that shake us nightly (III.ii.21 22). What Macbeth is saying is that he has not been
sleeping well because he has been having nightmares. Macbeth is having trouble sleeping
because the witches have made him insomnious to bring him to his fatal end. Because the
witches can present an obstacle for someone to sleep shows power because sleep is a crucial part to
ones life. For example not getting enough sleep in the real word can lead to people being more

God s Metamorphosis Of The Tower Of Babel
Before the Fall of Man everything was good. God created humankind in his own image and left
us to take care of the world. In the Garden of Eden, Heaven and Earth were one and God will
many times would walk and talk to Adam. Yet, with paradise and completeness with God, Adam
and Eve fell short and disobeyed the rule that Godgave them. Sin entered the world through
humanity and tainted the relationship we had with Him and the creation as a whole. Although
humanity has been the conduit of destruction in this world, God has a plan to redeem creation
through humanity. God s threefold plan to restore creation begins with His covenant with Israel,
depends on His son Jesus, and ends with the church seeking out to join Heaven and Earth.
God starts His plan by choosing a man by the name of Abram, whom God changes his name to
Abraham. In Genesis 12, God tells Abraham that He will make of [Abraham] a great nation. At
this point of Genesis this promise gives the reader hope, because after the Fall of Man, humanity
mounted towards a path of self destruction. By Genesis 11, in the story of the tower of Babel, God
seems dissatisfied with humankind and makes it difficult to communicate among one another. The
story of Abraham gives hope that God will make a great nation from a man, whom is just as impure
as the rest of humanity. God continues his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Social Anxiety And Social Depression
Social anxiety is condition that has been described since the days of Hippocrates. Hippocrates
described an individual who would avoid social outings due to being timid, bashful, and fear of
being misused, disgraced, make a fool of himself, or being sick and believes he is constantly being
watched. Will the man who suffers from social anxietyreact differently to mistakes based on social
context? A study by Barker, Troller Renfree, Pine, Fox in 2015 attempted to test that. Baker et al.
tried to measure the error related negativity, an event potential that occurs 50 ms after the faulty
response. The purpose of the study was to see if there is a relationship between the magnitude of
the ERN and social anxiety.
Barker et al. used two groups of individuals. The first group was a group that hardly exhibit social
anxiety and the second group was a group that exhibited high levels of social anxiety. The first
group has 10 males and 11 females and the second group had 11 males and 11 females. The
individuals were selected by using the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Participants in the study
also completed the Penn State Worry Questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory. The reason
why Barker et al. selected the PSWQ is because it has shown high internal reliability in clinical and
normative populations and has demonstrated the ability to be able to distinguish between the
constructs of worry, anxiety, and depression. The BDI was selected because it has shown the ability

Similarities Between Macbeth And Genesis 3
Macbeth vs. Genesis 3
Most people would never even consider Shakespearian plays resembling stories from the Bible,
but this may actually be the case with Macbeth and chapter three of the Book of Genesis. Macbeth
is a story of greed, sin, and betrayal, which are concepts extremely similar to those from the story
of Original Sin. Chapter three of Genesis tells of the tale of Adam and Eve and their betrayal of God
, otherwise known as the story of Original Sin. Adam and Eve s story is the basis of all sin, and
all fables that include wrongdoings. One obvious similarity between the two tales are the
antagonists. The serpent is the antagonist in Genesis, as he coerces Eve into betraying God, and her
husband. To convince Eve to commit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through her actions, Eve brought about their destruction. Similar to Eve, Lady Macbeth, after
learning of the prophecies, decided to take matters into her own hands to ensure that Macbeth
would become king; Hie thee hither,/ That I may pour my spirits in thine ear/ And chastise with
the valor of my tongue/ All that impedes thee from the golden round, (Macbeth, Act I, Scene V,
Lines 28 31). Lady Macbeth compelled her husband into killing the, then, current king, King
Duncan, so he would be able to take his place. Macbeth followed his wife s advice, as he was
letting his greed for power overrule his morals, which eventually led to his and his wife s demise.
These characters each led their spouse astray and brought consequences on themselves and on
their husbands. All of the events in these stories led to the inevitable doom of the characters. In
other words, the characters actions ricocheted back and impacted their lives negatively. These
impacts, in both stories, affect the characters daily lives monumentally. In Genesis, Adam and Eve,
after eating from the tree of life, became aware of their nakedness, Then the eyes of both of them
were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made
coverings for themselves, (Genesis 3:7). After making their own clothes, the couple

1.0 Introduction Beer is an immensely popular beverage, but it is one that is associated with a
particular country. German beer in fact is seen as the king of all beers. Around the world, Germany
s beer is one of the most respected varieties, in part due to the strict legislation that governs brewing
, but also because it seems that the German people take great pains to brew a good beer. It is
customary and part of their social structure. The majority of people in Germany socialize in pubs,

Brewing beer grew to be a respectable profession (2002). A student writing on this subject might
want to note that while it was a profession at the time, today s beers are generally made by large
companies. It has been proven that the production of good quality beer demanded certain
temperatures, but temperatures at the time prior to refrigeration were only available during the
winter ( German beer, 2002). The invention of refrigeration made it possible and did allow for
beer to be brewed year round (2002). Another important development was the discovery of
microorganisms and after that, the science of the fermentation process had finally been
established (2002). 4.0 Location: Where the Beer is Made With the increase in exports,
Germany developed world famous beer cities by the time the 1300s rolled around ; Bremen had
been the midpoint for beer exports to England, Holland and Scandinavia ( German beer, 2002) .
Hamburg had been the brewery of the Hanse but By 1500 there had been about 600 breweries there
alone (2002). The Hanse exported beer and some clients were as far away as India (2002).
Braunschweig and Einbeck is aligned with bock beer and they are also considered important beer
cities (2002).
Munich is an important city for beer and the locale where Spaten beer is made. Of course, German
beer is found in Germany, but due to its reputation, it is a major export.

Goldfish Metabolism
Metabolism refers to the sum of all the necessary chemical processes that allow living organisms
to interconvert and use energy to maintain cellular activity. It can be subdivided into two
categories, the first process is called catabolism which is the process of breaking down molecules
to obtain energy, and the second process is called anabolism which is using energy to synthesize
molecules to sustain cellular activity (Mandal et. al, 2013). With the knowledge that all living
organisms undergo metabolic processes in order to survive, it is important that we understand the
process of metabolismand how specific changes in environmental conditions can affect overall
metabolic activity.
The purpose of the present study was to analyze the effect of caffeine on goldfish metabolism by
measuring their oxygen consumption rates. We wanted to analyze the effect of caffeine on
metabolic processes, because present research shows that administration of caffeine therapy to

The Problem Of Evil In Richard Swinburne s Natural Evil
In Richard Swinburne s Natural Evil, he argues that the free will defense accounts for the
existence of evil. Following Swinburne s example, I will argue that the Problem of Evil does not
give us good reason to believe that an omnipotent, benevolent deity does not exist. To do so, I will
first summarize Epicurus original question of the problem of evil. Then, I will defend my claim by
proposing the free willdefense. Furthermore, I will discuss how the concepts of benevolence and
omnipotence are inconsistent with the definition of God according to the free will defense.
Lastly, I will address and respond to a possible objection to my argument. In David Hume s
Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, he claims that Epicurus s old question is yet unanswered.
(Cahn, end of page 958) The question he refers to are the following: Is he willing to prevent evil,
but not able? Then he is impotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both
able and willing? Whence then is evil? (Cahn, end of page 958, beginning of page 959) The he
specifies God. Thus, the question can be translated to the following: God is good if he wants to
prevent evil. If God does not want to prevent evil, he is bad. If God can prevent evil, he is all
powerful. If God cannot prevent evil, he is not all powerful. Therefore, if God is both good and all
powerful, then evil should not exist. Furthermore, it concludes that because evil exists in the world,
God is not both omnipotent and

An Analysis of quot; The Sun Rising, quot; by John Donne...
The Sun Rising, by John Donne, is a lyric poem about two lovers. The poem is divided into three
stanzas, each ten lines long. The rhyme scheme in each stanza is ABBACDCDEE. This is a
dramatic poem where the speaker and his lover are in bed together. The speaker personifies the sun,
and is speaking to it throughout the poem. As the sunlight comes through the windows, the speaker
tells the sun to leave them alone. He seems to feel that their life together is complete, and that the
sun is being a nuisance. He then tells the sun that his lover is worth more than anything the sun can
ever find outside their bedroom.
The sunrise has provoked the speaker to speak. The sun is symbolic of an intruder. Although the
speaker acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He gets right to the point of the poem in the very first sentence, maybe because the sun has woken
him up, and he wants his readers to think that this was the very first thing on his mind.
In the second stanza, the speaker s tone becomes more insulting and modest. He attacks the
sunshine by pointing out that he can cut the sun out of his life by closing his eyes. Even though
he is being arrogant, he is forced to admit that without the sun, he would not be able to see his
lover. His attitude then seems to change again when he says, If her eyes have not blinded thine.
From this point on, he focuses less on the sun and more on his lover and their situation together. He
is saying that his lover and himself are the center of the world.
As we move on to the third stanza, the speaker s conceit continues. The first two lines imply that
the lovers are every state, everywhere. He says, and all princes, I, nothing else. He seems to
believe that he has all control. When the speaker says, Princes do but play us....All wealth alchemy,
he believes that nothing or no one else matters besides him and his lover. At the end of the third
stanza, the speaker decides that since nothing else matters in the world, the sun should only shine in
the room containing him and his lover, Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere: This bed thy
center is, these walls, thy

Ethical Issues With Animal Testing
More than 115 million animals are used each year for testing (Akhtar). The act of testing on live
animals for the purpose of scientific research is called vivisection. According to a nationwide
survey of biology educators commissioned by NAVS in 2014, the use of animals as dissection
specimens in biology classrooms remains a prevalent practice in the United States, with 84% of
pre college biology educators reporting the use of dissection as a teaching tool. The use of
vivisection is carried out in middle schools, high schools, and universities. Animals are also used in
testing for cosmetics, tox screenings, and xenotransplantation, a process of transplanting organs or
tissues between different species . Many creatures around the world are forced into a life in cage
where they obliged to endure painful tests. Along with the pain caused by scientists, many of the
drugs that prove to be successful in animals aren t in humans. Aside from all, animals do have the
right to not be harmed although the Animal Welfare Act doesn t provide much protection. Our
country s law refuses to find it necessary to use alternative methods which are also obtainable.
Animal testingshould be outlawed due to animal rights, ethical issues, alternative ways and its
unreliability.
First of all, testing on animals must be outlawed in order to protect the rights of animals. Their
rights are infringed by endless experimenting. We may not believe this but animals and humans are
alike in more than one way.

How the Civil Rights Movement Influenced the Women s...
The civil rights movement influenced the women s liberation movement in four key ways. First, it
provided women with a model for success on how a successful movement should organize itself.
Second, the civil rights movement broadened the concept of leadership to include women. Third,
by fighting for equality, the civil rights movement changed the culture of advocacy and made social
justice a legitimate cause. Finally, by eventually excluding women, the civil rights movement
spurred women to organize their own movement. Without the civil rights movement, the women s
movement likely would never taken off on its own. The civil rights movement (and the activists

Black women eventually earned college and graduate degrees and sought full time employment
in higher rates than either black men or white women, while maintaining a community service
ethic. The civil rights movement broadened the definition of leadership to include women, and
left an impression of women as powerful and determined activists. Jo An Robinson and Ella
Baker are just two of the many women who were able to take charge and make an impact on the
movement. Robinson led the Women s Political Council, which plotted strategy for a one day
bus boycott in Montgomery following Rosa Parks arrest. The Council was able to recruit clergy
to lend their churches for mass meetings and was able to tap into a new minister in town,
Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. to lead the Montgomery Improvement Association, which would
coordinate the larger Montgomery Bus Boycotts . It was the women that organized this key
moment in the civil rights movement which was, in fact, spurred by a woman, Rosa Parks,
refusing to take her seat in the back of the bus. Ella Baker was similarly key in the Civil Rights
movement. She was instrumental in organizing a conference of student sit in activists in 1960,
forming the beginning of what would become the SNCC. By educating and fostering leadership,
Baker helped members to see themselves as potential leaders regardless of race or gender. That

Super Size Me Argument
Thesis and supporting argument of the film: The main point of Super Size Me is that McDonald
s product causes overweight and obesity in the United States. The film makes the case for this
thesis by showing that McDonald s sale strategy is inducing customers to eat more than they
need. First, McDonald s always encourages customer spend a little more to upgrade the meal size.
By knowing customer psychology which is getting the best deal in comparative pricing,
McDonald is welling to earn a little more from each customer. The company clearly is profit
orientated, and this is not a huge problem unless its products have harmful side effect. According to
Dir. Morgan Spurlock s experiment, McDonald s product has excessive cholesterol, fat, and sugar...

The film provides facts, experiment, and lots of experts opinions. First, it gives out the fact that
America is the fattest nation in the world. Over 100 million Americans are overweight or obsess.
60% of all US adults are overweight or obsess. (Dir. Morgan Spurlock, 2008) It shows that the
problem is real and it should be an issue that everyone pay attention to. According to Eric Schlosser,
American Journalist, there is one in fourteen American having meal in McDonald and nine in ten
children having McDonald once a month. By this shocking fact, the film director started his own
experiment with 30 days McDonald s meal. Though a normal person may not do this in real life, the
experiment is convincing that McDonald s product have harmful effect over human health in long
tern. On the other side, some free market supporter might think the McDonald s product already
passed government s food regulation, such as FDA, and this should indicate the food safety is
within the standard. They believe in the idea of free market, the business is good to operate as
long as they follow the laws and rules. However, I believe when a company has too much impact
over people, it should have more responsibility or liability over its business. Like Hollywood
movies, MTV and blue jeans, fast food has become one of America s major cultural exports. (Eric

Personal Observation
Today at my internship, I observed, demonstrated exercises, and instructed the athlete s dynamic
warm ups and agility ladder drills in each class. The classes I worked today were College Prep,
Linear Acceleration, Speed and Weights, and Adult Bootcamp. Before each class, I prepped
before them by making sure that the proper equipment was set up for that particular class. For
the Speed and Weights, Adult Bootcamp, and College Prep classes, I made sure that all the
weights and resistance cords were out so that the athletes can use it for the workout circuits. For
the Linear Acceleration Class, I made sure that each athlete had a resistant cord as well as a belt
so that they could attach it to the resistance cord. In the College Prep Class, the class started out
with agility ladders drills and then progressed to a dynamic warm up then to ballistic stretching.
After the dynamic warmup, the athletes did a reactive agility drill called the Octagon in which the
coach gave the athlete queues for such movements of backpedaling, sprinting, and side shuffling.
Half of the class time was spent doing the Octagon drill and the other half of the class was spent on
a full body lift circuit which consisted of weightlifting movements and sprinting. With five minutes

The Radio Frequency Identification Device ( Rfid ) Essay
The Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) is a powerful technology for companies in the
logistics and supply chain management industry. According to Jakobs (2000), he states that the
RFID system use tiny tags with embedded microchips that contains data. This data contains the
location and information about the product/item and transfers the data to RFIDreaders through radio
signals.
The RFID system is my innovation solution to improving the technologies Hunzal currently use in
managing their logistics and supply chain. RFID was introduced as a radical innovation, with a
significant impact in the logistics and supply chain industry. Now RFID is seen as an incremental
innovation as large firms in the logistics and supply chain industry are constantly making minor
improvements on the RFID. (Wamba, 2013).
2.5 The process of RFID
The process of RFID is relatively simple and does not take a long period of time to become an
expert with this system. Basically the Radio Frequency Identification system has three parts (see
appendix 2):
1.Firstly, a RFID tag this piece holds data including an identification number. This data is manually
entered from the reader to help identify an item. The rest of the tag consists of an antenna that
transmits radio waves between the RFID readers.
2.Secoundly, a RFID reader, which is a transceiver with a decoder to interpret the data. Whenever
the sensor tag is activated on the reader, it will interrogate and decode the data on the

How an OEMS helps Buy Side firms move beyond the three quotes framework
Jay Zhu
Financial institutions are acting as fiduciaries to their investors and clients. In the execution
process, buy side traders need to demonstrate reasonable steps to determine a best execution
condition, follow their defined firm level best execution trading policy and perform fair dealing to
all client accounts on trades. Broker dealers are obligated to provide best execution opportunities to
buy side clients as well. In the US market, both SEC and FINRA have articulated the responsibility
of broker dealers to provide best executions that are reasonably available. According to CFA
institute s trade management guidelines, best execution is defined as the trading process firms
apply that seeks to maximize the value of a client s portfolio within the client s stated investment
objectives and constraints .
In the recent development of the EU s MiFID II regulation, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
set out additional guidelines on best execution, in its Conduct of Business Sourcebook (COBS 11).
Trading venues, System Internalisers, and liquidity providers are required to publish data relating
to execution quality free of cost. Firms have to publish their top five execution venues annually, and
demonstrate they have complied with the execution policies of both their clients and relevant
regulatory authorities, according to ESMA regulatory technical standards (RTS). It asks firms to take

Neutral Bathrooms In Schools
In my junior AP Class, my teacher assigned us a project in which we would come up with an idea
that would improve the quality of our school, and then create a proposal that we would take to the
school board in hopes of getting it actually implemented into the high school. My group was made
up of roughly six other students, and we were working towards adding genderneutral bathrooms to
the school. The idea was mine, and was mine because it s an issue that affects me and many of my
friends. I am transgender, I identify as nonbinary, as neither a boy nor a girl. Having to choose
between two incorrect gendered bathrooms to use can sometimes be emotionally taxing, and
stressful. The bathrooms would help not only me and other nonbinary students, but also binary

Women s Rights And Gender Equality Essay
At first glance, the words feminism, veganism, and locavorism may induce many different thoughts
and images. One might think of a celebrity, a stereotype, a character trait, or a group of specifically
similar people associated with each word. For some, these three words may not even bring anything
or anyone significant to mind. But no matter what thoughts arise through them, all three of these
words represent an ideology, and two of them commonly have to do with diet. Feminism, or the
advocacy of women s rights and gender equality, and veganism, or the lifestyle and diet of avoiding
animal products, are widely known and decently popular. However, locavorism, which is the
lifestyle and diet of purchasing and eating locally and sustainably grown food in order to help the
environment and be healthy, is more of a modern concept that was not always relevant or present in
American society. In fact, it only became popular in the past decade (Rudy, 2012, p. 27).
Nonetheless, the point still stands that feminism, veganism, and locavorism may not seem to have
any connections aside from the fact that they are indeed all ideologies and they share a suffix.
However, when observed on a deeper level, it is discovered that the widely held feminist views of
gender and socioeconomic equality coincide with the views of vegans that also focus on equality
for beings thought to be inferior. Even further, feminist views pertaining to the equitable
distribution of food and positive treatment of

Basic Legal Contract Principles For A Contract
The above scenario is difficult to analyse due to there being no executed contract documentation
to review such as a specification or terms and conditions to base a recommendation upon. Basic
legal contract principles should therefore be applied to establish if a contract was in place, if it
had been breached, along with potential remedies applied to each party. To identify if there was a
breach of contract between John (the client) and Chris (the Contractor) it is key to establish if
there was a legally binding contract in place. In order for a contract to be deemed legally binding ,
it must abide by three key elements which are offer, consideration and acceptance. The sum of
ВЈ6,000 was offered for the service and subsequently agreed consideration completed by Chris
whom accepted. With the capacity of both directors, including intent from both parties to carry out
their promise, a contract was formed. As part of the contract negotiations ВЈ1,000 was paid in
advance to Chris, without any identified agreed terms and conditions. Advanced payments in
contracts such as these are typically used to purchase the materials required to undertake the work.
It is to be assumed that the ВЈ1,000 advanced payment was used to purchase the paint required to
carry out the works. The remaining ВЈ5,000 was due to Chris once the works were completed to a
satisfactory level. When agreeing to the terms of the contract, John clearly sets a requirement of the
works being satisfactory. The

Offshore Oil Drilling in United States Waters Oil is one of the most precious substances on Earth.
It takes millions of years to form and has many applications throughout the world. Offshore oil
drilling in the coastal waters of the United States is a technique used by companies to extract the
oil buried deep beneath the ocean floor. Many people refer to the ways that offshore drilling will

Based on his calculations, an estimated 1,000,000 African Americans would be excluded from
this payment, as it would be unethical to grant imprisoned men and women money from the
taxes of rape and murder victims. Simply put, the reparation programs would be exclusive to
those who are slave descendants and are not rich, middle class or imprisoned which leaves a
small sector of African Americans: the poor, impoverished individuals in mostly urban areas. By
placing restrictions and filters on who receives the payments, people who need the money will
actually receive it. The argument that the providers of the reparations will benefit rather than the
beneficiaries is simply not true, since the poorest of families will be able to improve their standard
of living and ultimately better their children s education and surroundings which will cause success
in the long run. In addition, after the Civil War, the US created a reparations plan that promised
former slave families forty acres of tillable land and a mule from the Union Army. Unfortunately,
Andrew Johnson reversed this plan and returned all the land to plantation owners which left these

Force Generator Critical Capabilities
A crucial enabler (Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2011, pp. III 24) or force generator, critical capabilities
(CC) are the inherent functions, activities or events that allow a center of gravity to achieve its
specified or implied objectives. Using the Ends Ways Means Risk framework, critical
capabilities represent the Ways (i.e. methods, tactics or strategies) in which a COG will
accomplish its mission. Stated more simply, a CC is something a center of gravity [can] do to
you that puts great fear (or concern) into your heart in the context of your mission and level of
war (Strange Iron, 2013, p. 7). When identifying critical capabilities its important keep two key
points in mind. First, correctly identifying the condition or set of conditions an adversary will use
to define operational success, their end state, is the all important first step in identifying critical
capabilities. Doing so allows policy makers to narrow their focus and more accurately identify
and define the critical capabilities a COG must possess to achieve the desired end state. Simply
stated, you have to know where they are going before you can determine how they re getting there.
Second, when deciding on critical capabilities it s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CR s must be used or applied by a COG to achieve a CC. If we use the examples cited earlier it
becomes clear that, by themselves, ammo, fuel and tanks are not capable of seizing an objective.
However, if you combine the three, they can be subsequently used by a COG to seize an objective
or destroy an opposing force. This is an important distinction to make because some CR s are
inherently powerful (i.e. a tank) and can be confused as a source of power when, in fact, the
source of power is the entity using the CR (i.e. an armored division using the tank). Figure 3 (p. 8),

customers should be able to bank at any of the 11 branches, cash withdrawal transactions from each
branch should be centrally processed and the customer databases updated. Deposits of cash and

Pvr Case Study Essay
Unit II Case Study Instructions 1. Discuss how PVRs will affect the demand from advertisers.
In order to examine the effect that PVR has on advertising companies, we need to consider the
needs of society and how will it benefit from this video recorder.
Comfort is an important issue in today s society. The easy programming and the large video
recording space, which reaches up to 60 hours, makes this devise very desirable. Moreover, the
flexibility to play the recorded program repeatedly at the viewers most convenient time removes the

the two points. Explain in words what this value means.
3. As more viewers begin using PVRs, what happens to the revenues of the major networks (CBS,
NBC, ABC, and FOX)?
Networks such as CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX obtain most of their revenue through
advertisements. The popularity of the network defines the how reliable they are. However, with
the increase usage of PVR in every household, networks such as ABC, CBS and NBC filed a

Outcome: I have learned about different organizational theories that can be applied in public

I think this fundamental knowledge is very helpful for further study and for practical application.
Application:

Should Mental Health And Associated Health Professionals...
Eating Disorder Treatment
The topic of which I would like to further discuss in my paper is that of eating disorders. The
question I would like to explore is: Should mental health and associated health professionals be
allowed to remove a patient s autonomy and control their diet as intervention for an eating
disorder? I think that this is a very debatable topic because both sides are equally important to the
patient. It is important that the patient be able to make their own decisions but it is equally
important that the patient be safe and their health protected. Both sides are also equally harmful if
not considered for the patient. Is it ethical to control a patient s diet in treatment of an eating
disorder? Proponents answer yes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clarify Concepts
The major eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. There are also
many other eating disorders that are not always specified for people that do not fall into the other
categories. When treating these illnesses along with any other, medical staff work to protect a
patient s autonomy which is their right to make decisions about their own care. The problem is
that eating disorders are one of the hardest conditions to treat (Treasure, 2015). It has also been
shown that over half of all cases develop into severe illness for the patient and profoundly impact
their physical and mental health (Treasure, 2015).
Identify Possible Solutions to the Problem There are several possible solutions. Medical staff
could take dietary choices away from the patient and control their diet in order to help them recover
from their eating disorder. Another option is for medical staff to counsel the patient on dietary
decisions but allow the patient to remain in control of their choices. Yet another option may be a
compromise between the two, to control the diet of the patient while still allowing them to make
decisions.
Gather Information
Professionals are trying to decide the best ways to treat eating disorders. A major complication in
the proposed treatment plan is ethics. A potential solution may be to take control away from the
patient but,

Why Is Soccer Better Than Basketball
ou can agree with me that soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Basket in the other hand
is one of the popular sport in the world, but not the most popular sport. Many people might agree
with me that soccer is the best, and it s better than basketball, that s why it s called the people
sport. Soccer is my favorite sport, and I think it s better than basketballbecause, a soccer game does
not take longer compare to a basketball game. I also think soccer is the best because, it has other
spots in it that you may not know. Like for example, just like in the basketball you can touch a
soccer ball with your hand, only goalkeeper, player can touch it if they are about to throw in. If you

First I will show you what they have in common. Soccer and Basketball are both sports, we

have more than 3 players, both sport have two teams, and the team has a captain and in a likely
manner both team players earn good money. Those two sports are great sport, but there has to be
one that is better than the other. I know what it is, it s soccer because soccer is the most popular
sport in the world, and basketball fall in top 10 most popular sport, but it s at 9th place. I also say
soccer is better than basketball because if it wasn t then, it wouldn t have been the most popular

Bessie Smith In The 1929 Film St. Louis Blues
I had never seen the 1929 film St. Louis Blues featuring Bessie Smith and much to my surprise
(at least in the shown clip) blacks were not depicted as being inadequate or as buffoons. The
song began with melancholy as she sang about her man, her demeanor uplifted along with the
tempo picked up when he entered the speakeasy, and when he left it was an immediate drop
back to the songs original beat. Having sold many records, she was cast in one of the first films

Kristin Chenoweth Argumentative Essay
The concert that I attended was titled An Intimate Evening with Kristin Chenoweth. It was held in
Waukegan at the Genesee Theatre on Oct 1st. Kristin Chenoweth was born in Broken Arrow,
Oklahoma, where the Chenoweths adopted her soon after her birth. From a very young age
Kristin began to get involved in the performing arts; she sang in the Gospel choir, acted in school
plays, and took dance classes. Religion is and has always been very important to Kristin, partially
because it was her first connection into the world of music. Kristin states that in every one of her
concerts she will always do a song about God because he led her on this path. At the age of 12,

On august 29th, 2005, the United States gulf coast was struck by a category 5 hurricane. Hurricane
Katrina shined a light on the need for a military response plan to domestic natural disasters

although in more reformed and improved system. This research paper examines the features and

First, many have argued that Thatcherism contributed significantly into economic recovery of
Britain after the war. This is mainly visible in its quest to control the rate of inflation which was a
success. However, this success has been criticized for the huge level of unemployment it brought
with it. The policy also managed to instill competition in the economy which facilitated growth of
the economy. This was necessary to salvage the image which was heavily dented on the
international scene. With these efforts, the conservative party had managed to win back the trust of
its citizens. Thatcherism also brought the theory of monetarism. Through this theory, they
discovered that inflation was caused by injecting excess money into the economy by printing money
and this situation could be controlled by using the instruments of monetary policy to mop up the
excess money supply. However, some economists have argued that the negative impacts of this
policy overshadowed its positive contributions hence the system is considered a failure (Harvey

A Visit At San Jose Buddhist Church
Awakening For this experience, I decided to explore Buddhism in order to enhance my
involvement with the religion and build a strong understanding. What intrigued me about
Buddhism was the social aspect and diversity that it had to offer. In order to explore this religion
from a critical and analytical viewpoint, I decided to attend a weekend service offered at San Jose
Buddhist Church Betsuin. The San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin main templeis located in the
Japantown section of Central San Jose. What made this temple stand out amongst the others was its
historical standing in the community. It is one of the oldest temples established in the United
States. In order to learn more about the history, environment, and community as a whole, I decided
to contact the temple s staffs. After a brief phone call, I was able to schedule a tour. In preparation,
I decided to do a brief research on Buddhismto familiarize myself with the religionbeforehand. With
all preparations and research necessary, I was ready to visit San Jose Buddhist Church Betsuin.
Upon arrival, I was given a brief history about of the Buddhist temple. The San Jose Buddhist
Church Betsuin is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the United States. Although it was
established in 1907, construction wasn t completed until 1937. During World War II, it was served
as a home to many Japanese Americans released from internment camps. Today, the temple
continues to play an active role in the lives of their descendance

Little Miss Sunshine By Michael Arndt
There are some families that love to win and influence their children to be the very best they can
be. Little Miss Sunshine written by Michael Arndt is a warm heartfelt movie about a little girl
named Olive Hoover with the dream of competing in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in
California. Olive is part of a very dysfunctional family which includes the supportive mother
Sherrill, the determined father Richard, quiet brother Dwayne, crazy grandfather Edwin, and the
suicidal uncle Frank. The family members all come together a to bring the young aspiring
daughter Olive to her dream pageant. The Hoover family does not live in the best conditions and
are forever going through a constant struggle, but they try to make the best of things. The family
all piles into an old Volkswagen van to drive from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Redondo Beach,
California. The drive is not stress free and the family encounters a few bumps along the way. They
eventually make it to the pageant and Olive comes to life on stage with her family s support. I
viewed this film through the developmental perspective using Jean Piaget s theory of development
and Vygotsky s sociocultural developmental theory. I will portray the developmental theory
throughout the rest of the paper within adult/child relationships while using sections of the film
and an article by Scarr and McCarthy with elements of the theory s, capacities of children using

Stopping Plant Junipers, Some Pines, And Evergreens
Avoiding to plant junipers, some pines, and evergreens is a good idea because the chemical
content in these plants is extremely flammable. New Mexico Association of Counties implies,
Deciduous trees and shrubs are the best for firewise plants. Many needled trees contain a highly
flammable chemical content. Sedums are among the good groundcover plants due to the fact that
they keep flames low to the ground and from spreading because of the high water content. Planting
things in shaded areas around the yard is also helpful because dead plant material collects
everywhere.

Barkley et al claim that from past vegetation, charcoal, layers in the soil, fire scars on trees, the aged

In order to save lives and property from wildfire, people need to become educated on how to adapt
to living in areas with a high risk of wildfires. Being able to adapt to living the way many prefer
means taking responsibility for what is in order to defend the forest and natural lands.
Overwhelmingly, idahofirewise.org reports that most grass, brush, and forest fires are started by
people. Between 87 and 96 percent of wildfires are human ignited, and only about 20 percent are
intentional. Most human caused fires are accidental or related to careless disposals of hot embers,
ash, or cigarettes. This is a shocking statistic about how carelessness is a major contributing factor
and can be blamed for many of the fires that occur each year throughout the country. This is why
knowledge of firewise is so important because it can help to prevent many of these fires due to
carelessness.
It is a strange thought that America s population is only going to expand, and more and more
people are building houses or cabins in the forest to escape the compacted communities of cities. So
in turn, this means that

Bras for breast feeding are generally made without underwire, which would cause further

A Christmas Carol Character Analysis
You can tell that Scrooge is the main character in the story A Christmas Carol . Scrooge may as
well be known as an astringent aged man that is unfair, plaintive unlikable, unsavory, nihilist well as
very rude. Moreover, Scrooge gainsaid anything that deals with happiness, generosity, up most of
all, Christmas. Everyone in the story seemed to be apprehensive of Scrooge. Consequently, his dead
business partner s ghostcomes and warns him that three different ghosts will try to help him
recover his past and peaceful self. . Scrooge s experience felt fancied. On page one of the first
passage it says Scrooge is the grumpiest grump that ever walked on planet earth. In the text, it
said Scrooge makes him leave (his nephew) but not before he insults his marriage because it is
based on love. I know that is a very excellent reason to back up that he is a very mean and rude
man. Another example from the text says A couple of guys came up asking for donations for
the poor, Scrooge tells them to stuff it. Another fine example of how much he hates Christmas is
Scrooge says it is the one time of year when the clerk is allowed to rob him. It also says, If
someone comes by to carol Scrooge almost hits him in the head with a ruler. I could drive on but
that would be boring... In the second stave, the first of the three spirits, The Ghost Of Christmas
Past comes to try to help Scrooge redeem himself. This spiritwas very laid back and kind of pushy. I

Summary Of Marriage By Gregory Corso Marriage
Marriage has been a heated controversy for the past few years because people often marry for
the wrong reasons. Anyone who thinks of an ideal marriage would think of two people loving
each other and sharing a personal bond or goals together. Marriage is regularly defined as the
legally or formally recognized union of two lovers as partners in a personal relationship. This
definition remarks there is an actual connection between two people in marriage, but do people
actually consider this when committing to loveand support their partners forever? As research and
studies have shown, people ultimately get married for many reasons, except love. This philosophy
can be easily applied to the short poem, Marriage by Gregory Corso. In this emotional poem, the
author argues marriage is more effectively understood or known for culture and convenience rather
than through the abstract considerations of love. Here, we can identify people generally decide to
marry for the incorrect reasons, for instance the story of the author himself. Corso finds himself
confused multiple times, wondering if he should marry to not be lonely, for tradition and for his
physical and mental health. He disregards love, a relationship or a connection with his future wife.
General ways of convenience like loneliness, health and economic status between cultural
stereotypes and religion are usually the true reasons of why people chose to have the commitment
of marriage with another person.

Australian Football Field Decision-Making Analysis
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION
1.1Introduction
Australian Football is a unique invasion game comprised of two teams of 22 players per side (36
afield), utilizing many skills (*****back and afl). The combination and display of long kicking,
high marking, tackling and nonstop action make it Australia s number one spectator sport (****
ref) and separate it from other football sporting codes. The overall aim of the game is to kick a ball
between goal posts positioned at the opposition team s end of the field to score a goal worth 6
points and the ball can be moved in any direction by hand (handball) and by foot (kick).

1.3.3 Kick Side
The execution of a kick on a players preferred or non preferred foot is likely to alter the kick
technique and pattern (ball 2011 ref*************). A kick performed on the non preferred foot
is typically less coordinated than that of a preferred foot kick (ball 2011), and is likely to travel a
shorter distance and miss the target.
1.3.4 Kick Source
Kick Source is the method in which a player comes in possession of the ball before performing a
kick. These include, but are not limited to marking the ball, receiving the ball via a handball from
either a team in general play or after a mark and a ground ball. Kick source is likely to have an
impact on accuracy of the resulting kick as it can often be an indication of the scenario and the
pressure being applied. For example a player executing a kick as a result of a stoppage is likely to
be under pressure due to congestion of opposition players in the immediate area.

fake news and only on the readers which makes them naturally engaging to their target market. As
a result, it has a 60% increase in print circulation for the past three years (Beato para. 5). Second,
while the news are usually not entertaining, The Onion is fun to read (Beato para. 6). Many

First, children grow up having fewer and fewer friends of the opposite sex which separates their
social universe and makes less knowledgeable of each other s communication beliefs, values, and

their emotions (Goleman 3). Parents talk about emotions with their daughters more than their
sons (Goleman 3). In fact, mothers tend to display a wider range of emotions to daughters than
to sons and discuss emotional states in greater detail with girls than boys (Goleman 3). If they do
talk about emotions with sons, they are focused on anger and its consequences, a topic removed

girls have developed sophistication in handling negative emotion with their vicious gossip and

  • 3. Summa Becvar Analysis On fall days like these, Jeanne Summa Becvar used to wait for the kids to get off school so they could ride their bikes to her family s hot dog truck in Brentwood. Her father, the namesake of Charlie s Hot Dogs, and mother were there; the smell of the Sabretts steaming and the onion sauce that made the familyfamous warmed the neighborhood. Now, on almost every Saturday since June, she s at the Islip Farmers Market selling those famous onions in 16 ounce jars to community members they brought together for 43 years. The Charlie s faithful come steadily, and the memories still bowl over Summa Becvar, who closed the truck in 2006. One Saturday, a teacher remembers how he used to reward his kids for good grades with the promise of hot dogs. A few weeks later, within two hours, it s a man whose father took him to Charlie s as a boy, a woman who craved the franks during her pregnancy, and a father whose son cried out for a Charlie s T shirt as a keepsake after moving to New Orleans. The memories so enchant Summa Becvar that her two daughters, the third generation of the family raised on the truck, tease her about her familiar trance at the farmers market. I ... • 4. Who Are The Most Powerful Characters In Macbeth What does it mean to be powerful? In William Shakespeare s Macbeth, Macbeth is initially loyal to the throne because he helps fight for Scotland and executes the rebel Thane of Cawdor. Later he becomes a traitor by turning on King Duncan. After Macbeth s actions he falls to his terrible tragedy. Although Macbeths physical traits can be associated with being powerful, the weird sisters are the most powerful characters because they can control the weather, alter sleep patterns, and predict the future. To begin, the witches reveal they can change the direction and force of the winds. After the first witch tells her story about the sailor s wife, the second witch says what she will do about the sailor and his wife. She says I ll give thee a wind (i.iii.12). The witch says that she is going to make the weather outside windy to push his ship further out to sea. Knowing that the witches can make changes to the weather shows they are powerful because they can create a storm at any given time, causing accidents to occur. LIke in the real world, weather that is rainy/ windy ect is associated with unpleasant things happening. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Macbeth says In the affliction of these terrible dreams that shake us nightly (III.ii.21 22). What Macbeth is saying is that he has not been sleeping well because he has been having nightmares. Macbeth is having trouble sleeping because the witches have made him insomnious to bring him to his fatal end. Because the witches can present an obstacle for someone to sleep shows power because sleep is a crucial part to ones life. For example not getting enough sleep in the real word can lead to people being more accident ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. God s Metamorphosis Of The Tower Of Babel Before the Fall of Man everything was good. God created humankind in his own image and left us to take care of the world. In the Garden of Eden, Heaven and Earth were one and God will many times would walk and talk to Adam. Yet, with paradise and completeness with God, Adam and Eve fell short and disobeyed the rule that Godgave them. Sin entered the world through humanity and tainted the relationship we had with Him and the creation as a whole. Although humanity has been the conduit of destruction in this world, God has a plan to redeem creation through humanity. God s threefold plan to restore creation begins with His covenant with Israel, depends on His son Jesus, and ends with the church seeking out to join Heaven and Earth. God starts His plan by choosing a man by the name of Abram, whom God changes his name to Abraham. In Genesis 12, God tells Abraham that He will make of [Abraham] a great nation. At this point of Genesis this promise gives the reader hope, because after the Fall of Man, humanity mounted towards a path of self destruction. By Genesis 11, in the story of the tower of Babel, God seems dissatisfied with humankind and makes it difficult to communicate among one another. The story of Abraham gives hope that God will make a great nation from a man, whom is just as impure as the rest of humanity. God continues his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Social Anxiety And Social Depression Social anxiety is condition that has been described since the days of Hippocrates. Hippocrates described an individual who would avoid social outings due to being timid, bashful, and fear of being misused, disgraced, make a fool of himself, or being sick and believes he is constantly being watched. Will the man who suffers from social anxietyreact differently to mistakes based on social context? A study by Barker, Troller Renfree, Pine, Fox in 2015 attempted to test that. Baker et al. tried to measure the error related negativity, an event potential that occurs 50 ms after the faulty response. The purpose of the study was to see if there is a relationship between the magnitude of the ERN and social anxiety. Barker et al. used two groups of individuals. The first group was a group that hardly exhibit social anxiety and the second group was a group that exhibited high levels of social anxiety. The first group has 10 males and 11 females and the second group had 11 males and 11 females. The individuals were selected by using the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Participants in the study also completed the Penn State Worry Questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory. The reason why Barker et al. selected the PSWQ is because it has shown high internal reliability in clinical and normative populations and has demonstrated the ability to be able to distinguish between the constructs of worry, anxiety, and depression. The BDI was selected because it has shown the ability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Similarities Between Macbeth And Genesis 3 Macbeth vs. Genesis 3 Most people would never even consider Shakespearian plays resembling stories from the Bible, but this may actually be the case with Macbeth and chapter three of the Book of Genesis. Macbeth is a story of greed, sin, and betrayal, which are concepts extremely similar to those from the story of Original Sin. Chapter three of Genesis tells of the tale of Adam and Eve and their betrayal of God , otherwise known as the story of Original Sin. Adam and Eve s story is the basis of all sin, and all fables that include wrongdoings. One obvious similarity between the two tales are the antagonists. The serpent is the antagonist in Genesis, as he coerces Eve into betraying God, and her husband. To convince Eve to commit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through her actions, Eve brought about their destruction. Similar to Eve, Lady Macbeth, after learning of the prophecies, decided to take matters into her own hands to ensure that Macbeth would become king; Hie thee hither,/ That I may pour my spirits in thine ear/ And chastise with the valor of my tongue/ All that impedes thee from the golden round, (Macbeth, Act I, Scene V, Lines 28 31). Lady Macbeth compelled her husband into killing the, then, current king, King Duncan, so he would be able to take his place. Macbeth followed his wife s advice, as he was letting his greed for power overrule his morals, which eventually led to his and his wife s demise. These characters each led their spouse astray and brought consequences on themselves and on their husbands. All of the events in these stories led to the inevitable doom of the characters. In other words, the characters actions ricocheted back and impacted their lives negatively. These impacts, in both stories, affect the characters daily lives monumentally. In Genesis, Adam and Eve, after eating from the tree of life, became aware of their nakedness, Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves, (Genesis 3:7). German beer in fact is seen as the king of all beers. Around the world, Germany s beer is one of the most respected varieties, in part due to the strict legislation that governs brewing , but also because it seems that the German people take great pains to brew a good beer. Brewing beer grew to be a respectable profession (2002). A student writing on this subject might want to note that while it was a profession at the time, today s beers are generally made by large companies. It has been proven that the production of good quality beer demanded certain temperatures, but temperatures at the time prior to refrigeration were only available during the winter ( German beer, 2002). The invention of refrigeration made it possible and did allow for beer to be brewed year round (2002). Another important development was the discovery of microorganisms and after that, the science of the fermentation process had finally been established (2002). 4.0 Location: Where the Beer is Made With the increase in exports, Germany developed world famous beer cities by the time the 1300s rolled around ; Bremen had been the midpoint for beer exports to England, Holland and Scandinavia ( German beer, 2002) . • 10. Goldfish Metabolism Metabolism refers to the sum of all the necessary chemical processes that allow living organisms to interconvert and use energy to maintain cellular activity. It can be subdivided into two categories, the first process is called catabolism which is the process of breaking down molecules to obtain energy, and the second process is called anabolism which is using energy to synthesize molecules to sustain cellular activity (Mandal et. al, 2013). With the knowledge that all living organisms undergo metabolic processes in order to survive, it is important that we understand the process of metabolismand how specific changes in environmental conditions can affect overall metabolic activity. • 11. The Problem Of Evil In Richard Swinburne s Natural Evil In Richard Swinburne s Natural Evil, he argues that the free will defense accounts for the existence of evil. Following Swinburne s example, I will argue that the Problem of Evil does not give us good reason to believe that an omnipotent, benevolent deity does not exist. To do so, I will first summarize Epicurus original question of the problem of evil. Then, I will defend my claim by proposing the free willdefense. Furthermore, I will discuss how the concepts of benevolence and omnipotence are inconsistent with the definition of God according to the free will defense. Lastly, I will address and respond to a possible objection to my argument. In David Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, he claims that Epicurus s old question is yet unanswered. (Cahn, end of page 958) The question he refers to are the following: Is he willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is impotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence then is evil? (Cahn, end of page 958, beginning of page 959) The he specifies God. Thus, the question can be translated to the following: God is good if he wants to prevent evil. If God does not want to prevent evil, he is bad. If God can prevent evil, he is all powerful. If God cannot prevent evil, he is not all powerful. Therefore, if God is both good and all powerful, then evil should not exist. • 12. An Analysis of quot; The Sun Rising, quot; by John Donne... The Sun Rising, by John Donne, is a lyric poem about two lovers. The poem is divided into three stanzas, each ten lines long. The rhyme scheme in each stanza is ABBACDCDEE. This is a dramatic poem where the speaker and his lover are in bed together. The speaker personifies the sun, and is speaking to it throughout the poem. As the sunlight comes through the windows, the speaker tells the sun to leave them alone. He seems to feel that their life together is complete, and that the sun is being a nuisance. He then tells the sun that his lover is worth more than anything the sun can ever find outside their bedroom. The sunrise has provoked the speaker to speak. The sun is symbolic of an intruder. Although the speaker acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gets right to the point of the poem in the very first sentence, maybe because the sun has woken him up, and he wants his readers to think that this was the very first thing on his mind. In the second stanza, the speaker s tone becomes more insulting and modest. He attacks the sunshine by pointing out that he can cut the sun out of his life by closing his eyes. Even though he is being arrogant, he is forced to admit that without the sun, he would not be able to see his lover. His attitude then seems to change again when he says, If her eyes have not blinded thine. From this point on, he focuses less on the sun and more on his lover and their situation together. He is saying that his lover and himself are the center of the world. As we move on to the third stanza, the speaker s conceit continues. The first two lines imply that the lovers are every state, everywhere. He says, and all princes, I, nothing else. He seems to believe that he has all control. When the speaker says, Princes do but play us....All wealth alchemy, he believes that nothing or no one else matters besides him and his lover. At the end of the third stanza, the speaker decides that since nothing else matters in the world, the sun should only shine in the room containing him and his lover, Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere: This bed thy center is, these walls, thy ... The act of testing on live animals for the purpose of scientific research is called vivisection. According to a nationwide survey of biology educators commissioned by NAVS in 2014, the use of animals as dissection specimens in biology classrooms remains a prevalent practice in the United States, with 84% of pre college biology educators reporting the use of dissection as a teaching tool. The use of vivisection is carried out in middle schools, high schools, and universities. Animals are also used in testing for cosmetics, tox screenings, and xenotransplantation, a process of transplanting organs or tissues between different species . Many creatures around the world are forced into a life in cage where they obliged to endure painful tests. Robinson led the Women s Political Council, which plotted strategy for a one day bus boycott in Montgomery following Rosa Parks arrest. The Council was able to recruit clergy to lend their churches for mass meetings and was able to tap into a new minister in town, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. to lead the Montgomery Improvement Association, which would coordinate the larger Montgomery Bus Boycotts . One might think of a celebrity, a stereotype, a character trait, or a group of specifically similar people associated with each word. For some, these three words may not even bring anything or anyone significant to mind. But no matter what thoughts arise through them, all three of these words represent an ideology, and two of them commonly have to do with diet. Feminism, or the advocacy of women s rights and gender equality, and veganism, or the lifestyle and diet of avoiding animal products, are widely known and decently popular. However, locavorism, which is the lifestyle and diet of purchasing and eating locally and sustainably grown food in order to help the environment and be healthy, is more of a modern concept that was not always relevant or present in American society. In fact, it only became popular in the past decade (Rudy, 2012, p. 27). Nonetheless, the point still stands that feminism, veganism, and locavorism may not seem to have any connections aside from the fact that they are indeed all ideologies and they share a suffix. Basic legal contract principles should therefore be applied to establish if a contract was in place, if it had been breached, along with potential remedies applied to each party. To identify if there was a breach of contract between John (the client) and Chris (the Contractor) it is key to establish if there was a legally binding contract in place. In order for a contract to be deemed legally binding , it must abide by three key elements which are offer, consideration and acceptance. By placing restrictions and filters on who receives the payments, people who need the money will actually receive it. The argument that the providers of the reparations will benefit rather than the beneficiaries is simply not true, since the poorest of families will be able to improve their standard of living and ultimately better their children s education and surroundings which will cause success in the long run. In addition, after the Civil War, the US created a reparations plan that promised former slave families forty acres of tillable land and a mule from the Union Army. I know that is a very excellent reason to back up that he is a very mean and rude man. Another example from the text says A couple of guys came up asking for donations for the poor, Scrooge tells them to stuff it. Another fine example of how much he hates Christmas is Scrooge says it is the one time of year when the clerk is allowed to rob him. • 56. Summary Of Marriage By Gregory Corso Marriage Marriage has been a heated controversy for the past few years because people often marry for the wrong reasons. Anyone who thinks of an ideal marriage would think of two people loving each other and sharing a personal bond or goals together. Marriage is regularly defined as the legally or formally recognized union of two lovers as partners in a personal relationship. This definition remarks there is an actual connection between two people in marriage, but do people actually consider this when committing to loveand support their partners forever? As research and studies have shown, people ultimately get married for many reasons, except love. This philosophy can be easily applied to the short poem, Marriage by Gregory Corso. In this emotional poem, the author argues marriage is more effectively understood or known for culture and convenience rather than through the abstract considerations of love. Here, we can identify people generally decide to marry for the incorrect reasons, for instance the story of the author himself. Corso finds himself confused multiple times, wondering if he should marry to not be lonely, for tradition and for his physical and mental health. He disregards love, a relationship or a connection with his future wife. General ways of convenience like loneliness, health and economic status between cultural stereotypes and religion are usually the true reasons of why people chose to have the commitment of marriage with another person. Comparing Beyonce s Pretty Hurts And Christina Aguilera Compare and Contrast BeyoncГ© s Pretty Hurts and Christina Aguilera s Beautiful After watching both BeyoncГ© s video and Christina Aguilera s I started to compare and contrast the two. I found the videos to be more a like than unlike. However, there were a lot more contrasts made than comparisons. One of the first contrasts that I believe is very obvious and can be made automatically is the speakers are different. In the Pretty Hurts video the speaker is BeyoncГ© and in the Beautiful video the speaker is Christina Aguilera. Secondly, I noticed that the intended audiences were different. In BeyoncГ© s ... Amusing Ourselves To Death By Greg Beato In Amusing Ourselves to Death, Greg Beato compares and contrasts The Onion to traditional newspapers and determiness why the former is more successful. First, while newspapers scramble to add extras that will make their content more engaging to readers, The Onion focuses on making fake news and only on the readers which makes them naturally engaging to their target market. As a result, it has a 60% increase in print circulation for the past three years (Beato para. 5). Second, while the news are usually not entertaining, The Onion is fun to read (Beato para. 6). Many journalists find humor as the opposite of seriousness, so they cannot embrace the same entertaining value as The Onion (Beato para. 7). Also, while traditional... In fact, mothers tend to display a wider range of emotions to daughters than to sons and discuss emotional states in greater detail with girls than boys (Goleman 3). If they do talk about emotions with sons, they are focused on anger and its consequences, a topic removed in discussions with girls (Goleman 3). Likewise, girls usually develop their language skills more quickly then boys, so they become more experienced in expressing their feelings, unlike boys for whom the verbalization of affects is de emphasized, may become largely unconscious of their emotional states, both in themselves and others (Goleman 4). By the time kids are 13 years old, girls have developed sophistication in handling negative emotion with their vicious gossip and indirect vendettas, while boys simply resort to aggressive confrontation mechanisms (Goleman 5). Moreover, girls focus on their intimate social networks when playing, while boys are geared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
