The Influence Of Western Civilization
The Influence of western Civilization
Western Civilization has had a tremendous influence on many different cultures worldwide. From
the Hispanic cultures in South and Central America, to the Caribbean islands, and also to the
various exotic African countries, and even to the distinguished cultures that reside in the continent
of Asia. In many ways than one, these cultures have been molded to be as westernized as they could
possibly be without losing their traditional customs indefinitely. They re religion, fashion sense, and
family structures have all been altered in some form so that it could resemble the western nation s
patriarch. Countries in North America and Europe have for centuries traveled to different continents
in the world and colonized many nations, as a result of that, many of the customs and traditions of
those people have been shaped to be a bit more westernized.
One prime element in different cultures that was influenced by Western countries is religion.
Religion is defined as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power that could be
one s own personal God, Gods, or even Goddesses. The most popular and followed religion in the
world is Christianity. Christianity is also widely known and accepted as a European/ Westernized
religion though the origin of Christianity began in what is today the Middle East, and Asia. In
fact, Jesus of Nazareth was a Jew; that is, He belonged to an Asian tribe closely related to the

Example Of Irreversible Inequality
Irreversible Inequality In this paper I will be explaining why social inequality is irreversible. A
large part of this is due to social structure (forces outside our control), agency (our choices), and
structuration (the way the previous two work together to shape our lives). This aspect of social
inequality will be dove into deeper in the next paragraph, discussing how it shapes our views of
societal norms. Next, I will discuss social inequality specifically in race and gender and how it
will not be able to be reversed. Using Karl Marx s Conflict Theory, I will point out the flaws in
believing that society can reverse social inequality. By using multiple examples of social
inequality through history, research, and present day, it will become clear that social inequality is
irreversible. Structure, agency, and structuration play a significant role in social inequality. Social
structure are things that are outside a person s control, but still affect the person. Agency is the
actions of individuals and each person s choices. Structuration is referring to how each person s
life is shaped by uncontrollable influences, structure, and by their own choices, agency. An
example of social structure affecting agency would be growing up in a poor neighborhood
effecting what kind of education you receive. Poorer neighborhoods typically have a lower quality
school, resulting in a lower quality education. In every society, there is a cultural norm, or an
expected right behavior. When

Similarities Between Lincoln And Frederick Douglass
The Radical and the Republican Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglas were two extremely
important men. Lincoln grew up in an anti slavery home. His parents were anti slavery and the
church they went to was against slavery. Growing up he thought that blacks should have the same
rights as the white men. [1] Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Lincoln was a nice quite
guy until the Kansas Nebraska Act passed in 1854. This made him unhappy. So he then began to
speak in political debates. Fredrick was a reformer for most of his life. Fredrick didn t notice
Lincoln until his debates with Stephen Douglas. Lincoln would make strong and engaging
speeches. Lincoln was committed to anti slavery politics. Some mistaken him for an abolishes but,

Douglas could not support any ideas that Lincoln had said. Lincoln would present speeches that
made him sound like a racist. Soon he plans to join the Republican party. He is very cautious
when he joins. Fredrick and Lincoln had many views on anti slavery but, many different too. The
difference is that Lincoln choose his words wisely when speaking. Douglas had a thought of
getting rid of slavery completely. When Lincoln heard this he thought there was no way. Lincoln
was also a lawyer at this time. His understanding was that the Constitution protected slavery. So he
thought there was no chance in this happening. Lincoln and Douglas had the same thought but
their pieces just didn t fit together. Lincoln felt forced to sign for Laws he didn t believe in. He
did not agree with the Fugitive Slave Act. Which was if slaves ran away and you found them then
you had to return them. Also if you housed a runaway slave then you were punished. A lot of
whites wouldn t hire the blacks to work for them because they feared that they were a

Historical Accuracy Of The Movie Gladiator
The movie and film industry is known for putting unnecessary amounts of drama into productions
to keep the audience s attention and gain maximum amounts of profit. Historical drama films are
typically more about the entertainment than the historical accuracy. The production Gladiator
directed by Ridley Scott in 2000 is a good example of this but in this film, there are some parts that
are historically accurate.
The movie Gladiator is an epic historical drama film that takes place in Ancient Rome, where a
General by the name of Maximus Decimus Meridius was declared successor to the ill Emperor
Marcus Aurelius. The Emperor wanted Maximus to restore Rome to a republic. However, the
Emperor s son, Commodus was not happy with his father s decision

Bonobo Intelligence Animal Essay
Why do we say that Bonobo has intelligence? Similar to humans might be a partial reason why
Bonobo is classified as intelligence animal. Many evidences show that Bonobo expresses its
intelligence in the natural world. Bonobo is highly intelligence and physically similar to human
ancestor. Bonobos were discovered in the forest along the Congo River in the Democratic
Republic of Congo in 1927. They are named as the pygmy chimpanzees because of the similarities
in their physical traits with chimpanzees. A lot of people make the same mistake in recognizing
Bonoboand Chimpanzeethough they have the same height. However, Bonobo come with leaner
body, smaller head and longer leg than Chimpanzee. Moreover, they physically feature as the
closest primates to humanwho hold almost 98.6 percent of their DNA comparing with human.( http:
//www.nydailynews.com)
Specifically, learning language indicates the most stunning ability about Bonobos intelligence.
Human is regarded as the intelligence animal because we can use language which distinguishes us
with others. Language covers many combinations of words such as grammars, sentences, phrases
that only human can understand. Since I was a child, I usually thought that the world of animal had
its own language that we did not know about it. Although many species can understand what their
species want to transfer in the world of nature by using methods such as waves or signal, but none
of them can deliver it into language. But we know this:

Student s First Amendment Rights
Student s First Amendment Rights: Kindergarten Student Playing a Game If a student says, I am
going to shoot you during recess to his friends, does the school have a right to take disciplinary
actions? Is it a violation of the student s First Amendment? School officials can restrict speech
activities on any student in a school if it has been established there was harm or threats made
against others, including teachers. Although the First Amendment states freedom of expression,
school officials may punish students for expressing their personal views on school grounds. With
the case of S.G. v. Sayreville Board of Education [1], a school s right to discipline a student was
questioned by parental guardianship. The Case: S.G. v. Sayreville Board of Education (2003)
Wilson Elementary School in Sayreville, New Jersey, began disciplining a number of students for
making remarks of threat and acts of gun violence against teachers and students. Over the course of
a week (in early March 2000), three unrelated incidences occurred: one elementary student stated I
m going to shoot you towards another student, a second student threatened to shoot a teacher with
his parent s gun, and a third student threatened to put a gun in a classmate s mouth to kill him.
From the time of the incidences and suspensions given to all the students involved, the principal,
Georgia Baumann addressed every class in regards to the severity of making threatening actions
with a weapon.

The Evils Of The FED And The Federal Reserve
Ever since the Bretton Woods agreement in 1944, the U.S dollar became the world s currency.
Bretton Woods agreement was basically an agreement on which every country currency would
be back up by the dollar, due to the fact that after WWII United States was the only one with the
biggest gold reserve in the world. Although it was proposed as a good idea it had its flaws for one
even though it help the U.S and other countries there was simply not enough gold to continue
backing up the dollar value. Which lead to President Richard Nixon to abolish the gold standard
economy. His abolish of a gold standard economy lead to a new proposal on which the dollar would
be back by. The new proposal that was issue was to create the FED or the... Show more content on

Which goes back on how the dollar is back up. Another deal that countries see is that they can
also exchange the Yuan which they have, to the federal banks of China into gold since their
money is control in a gold standard economy. Although the Yuan is seen as the new alternative
there is one more currency lurking and becoming to be seen as a new way to exchange money,
and that s Bitcoin. Bitcoin is an indented source where individuals create accounts to buy accents
in order to have credit. That credit is later use for other individuals to purchase goods anywhere
in the world without paying fees to any government bank in order to exchange their currency.
But is still works about the same way that the Federal Reserve works since it s money that it s
not back up by any materialize product as gold and silver and instead just faith that the investors
will continue to support it. But the Federal Reserve and Bitcoin still are different since Bitcoin is
not support by any government nor has any centralize bank running it. This causes mayor impact
to the U.S, since companies and countries might no longer have to go and exchange their currency
in dollars and may do it straight forward from one currency to another. In time, the dollar would
lose value and the U.S economy may change drastically. So, should United States tried to go back
in a gold standard economy? Yes and no, although there are new forms of currency going around
the world. The

three semi structured interviews to help me uncover a better understanding of what the impact on
a fluctuation in interest rates from the Federal Reserve has on the economy and market in the U.S

Participant 1 was my number one choice, and once a date and time was scheduled I conducted
the face to face interview that lasted approximately nine minutes. Participant 2 sparked my
interest because of the knowledge I knew he had on the stock market and immediately knew he
would be the perfect fit as one of my interviewees. We had the date and time set for a face to face
interview and it lasted approximately eleven minutes. Participant 3 is very educated and has
experience with the stock market and because of his knowledge I chose him to be my third
interviewee. Participant three was my first phone interview and it lasted around eight minutes.
After completing these three interviews I started my transcribing and coding process. This
process definitely took some time to get used to, actually it s still very complicated. I found
myself keep rewinding back to get all of the exact detail, and everything that was said every few
seconds. My procedure for this was to listen through the whole interview one time to see the
tempo of how the interviewee was talking. I wanted to get used to the sound of his voice and the
dialect he talked with. The second time I listened I would type as much as I could for one
question I asked, and then go back to see what I missed, and keep doing this. As tough as it was I
got through it and it was a great experience. Results The results from the study of the lasting effects

A Note On Disney s Disney
Madeline Rihner
Mr. Helmsing

C Block
The first stock I decided to invest in was Disney. I chose this stock because I have been a Disney
fan my whole life. I think Disney will be a worthwhile stock to follow because it encompasses a
broad spectrum of smaller businesses such as entertainment and merchandise. Disney
demonstrates a consistent level of high quality and high standards in all it does. Disney is also
an innovative company. It always looks to improve and introduce new ideas in all its businesses,
whether it is a new ride in the parks or a new type of animation in its movies. With the company s
current success with its animated movie Frozen and the completion of New Fantasyland in
Disneyworld, the company has been seeing an increase in sales. This in turn, will lead to higher
stock values in the company. Disney is a brand that is familiar to the majority of Americans and
should be a solid company to invest in.
The Walt DisneyCompany was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Studios. Founded by Walt
Disney and his brother, Roy Disney, the company first began their animation work on a series
known as Alice Comedies. These shorts combined both animations with live action video. After the
production of the first short, the company had to file for bankruptcy. The cartoon, however, was
very successful, allowing the brothers to reopen where they continued the production of Alice
Comedies. In 1927, Walt Disney decided to create a new character to

My Personal Experience With The Product
My Personal Experience with the Product
I experienced my first taste of Miller Lite when I was an undergraduate student in college. The
first time I ever purchased it was at a sports bar called O Rielys in Chicago. Miller Lite is a light
lager style beer that has a taste of graininess with hints of grain husk, sweetness, light toasted malt
and a trace of citrus and pine. Miller Lite is a crystal clear, light golden yellow color liquid. The
aroma smells like hoppy bread and it is served cold. I quickly grew partial to the brand because it
was cost effective, it didn t taste as watered down as other cost efficient beers did. I liked the
marketing behind the brand, because being from the college and sports driven city that I am from ...

go to when I want to have an enjoyable, relaxing night with a few friends and when I m not
looking to spend a lot of money. A unique benefit that I appreciate that the brand offers me is the
low price for quality beer. Like stated before, although Miller Lite is not the beer I would go to
if I was looking for a crafted brew, it is the beer I go to that never fails to show me a good time
for a low price. I have always enjoyed their marketing campaigns and Super Bowl commercials,
which is another feature I appreciate. Along with delivering a good product, they make it fun and
enjoyable for consumers, from a marketing standpoint. I am a brand loyalist because Miller Lite
provides me with a product that has never let me down; I have never had a problem with the
beverage. The product has never let me down because it continually has good deals and
promotions, it consistently tastes good, and I associate the drink with the good times I have had in
the past, which makes me want to continue experiencing those good times and create new memories.

Introduction For many years, people have been waiting in anticipation for the opportunity to use
mobile payment as the everyday way to pay for merchandise. As of late this anticipation has grown
because on of the largest producers of smartphones are integrated the technology to do so in its
newest phone release the iPhone6 and iPhone 6 plus. Apple has one of the largest market shares of
smartphone users standing at a market share of 41.3% in the three months ending in January
2015 according to Jason Hahn. With this release the mobile payment buzz truly took off. Since
this release many companies had started offering pay stations that allow for this type of payment
method to be accepted. As a result, it is not a surprise to anyone that many of the largest well
known companies such as Visa, MasterCard, AT T, and Verizon have increased their mobile
application presence. Few companies in the world today achieve the success Apple has earned

Interview Is A 56 Years Old Woman From Cuba
Introduction
We live in a nation that is full of diversity. People from different countries have left their native
country to start a new life here in the U.S. Not only are they leaving their families and friends, but
also their culture. With these new beginnings come new struggles. Many of these people come here
not knowing the culture or even the language. They may settle in communities with other people
who share their culture and language, therefore, not giving themselves an opportunity to learn and
experience the new culture and it language.

because their language rules are different from English language rules. In the Spanish language they

Distracted Driving, And The Dangers Of Distracted Driving
In this essay it will talk about what distracted driving is and the dangers of distracted driving.
Distracted driving is the act of driving while enabling yourself into other activities and not paying
attention to the road or others around you. Since cars have been invented distracted driving has
been around in society. People say that distracted driving is the new drunk driving, it is actually
supposably more dangerous the drinking and driving. Also they say the more a distracted driver
drives with the distractionthe more they get comfortable with it, then the more it happens. It is
hard to prevent distracted driving since it is temporary, they usually do the distraction for a
short period of time then put it away. Distracted driving is very selfish and wrong, people who
are distracted drivers pretty much are telling everyone else on the road that them and their wants
are more important than their own life or other drivers on the road s life. Distracted driving can
affect any age groups, but typically it is the younger age groups between the ages of fifteen to
twenty nine. Truth is though everyone some point in time in their life has been a distracted
driver. Ten percent of all drivers fifteen to nineteen are involved in fatal crashes revolved around
distractions. There are many ways you can get distracted while driving such as cognitive
distractions, which is when your mind is not focused on driving, then there is visual distractions
which is when you the driver is looking at anything besides the road, auditory, which is like
when your music is too loud or responding to a ringing device, lastly the final type of distraction
is manual distraction which is when you take one or both of your hands off the wheel for any
specific reason. Some things that are considered distracted driving are smoking, eating or
drinking, adjusting your radio or climate settings, adjusting seat belts or mirrors, talking to your
passengers, using an electrical device such as a GPS or a cell phone, also just getting lost in
your own thought. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of deaths, also it is usually
caused by cell phone use. Eleven teens die every day as a result of texting while driving. Kansas is

Group Communication Analysis Paper
Analysis Paper
In my opinion, group work is a type of cooperative learning that helps people to accomplish a
certain task in a faster and more effective manner. Team working also helps to achieve the tasks
that are impossible to finish by one individual. However, if people in a group have a lot of
conflicts, group work will not be able to achieve as much as we expected. There are many reasons
which lead to dissatisfaction in group work such as individualism as well as conflicts in opinion
and time.
Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was
in high school, my five other friends and I used to work together in a music competition. Although
we were supposed to get together to practice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, I want to mention our group climate. In my opinion, our group has a supportive climate.
Each member is willing to help other members in the group to complete their tasks. Our group
favors description compared to evaluation. Instead of criticizing others behaviors and ideas, we
often tell our feelings about problems. All the group members always encourage each other to share
their opinions and feelings with the group. Even though some opinions are too conflicting, the main
purpose is trying to give all the members equal opportunities to talk about their ideas. Thus, the
success of the group is the consequence from the equal contributions of all the members.
Besides, in most of the discussions of our group, we are oriented toward problem solving;
therefore, we look for the consensus of the ideas in order to solve the problems effectively and
quickly. Because our group has many members who have senses of humor, we always maintain
an interesting and comfortable atmosphere to gain assertiveness in the group. Sometimes, Ngoc
and Phong share their experiences of how they solve their families problems. Through perceiving
more deeply about each member s own life, we have gradually gotten closer together; therefore,
we are always honest and open to each other. Also, we do not criticize when a group member
cannot finish his or her task as expected because there are always personal issues out of the class.

Computer Vs. Personal Computers
Smart phones and computer have been around for quite a while, but the only difference is that
the personal computers have been around way longer than smart phones. Before computers
were a big deal, but now it s all about smart phones and new ones that are launching soon. People
may not think so much about personal computers because today s generation is all about smart
phones now. I understand that people can have their own personal opinion and may disagree
with what I m saying, but my opinion is that personal computers are better. Personal computers
is a better, electronic than smart phones because personal computers are not a distraction, and
are a lot more helpful. First, personal computers are less distracting. Computer actually need
access to Wi Fi in order to do anything. I believe computer are better because if you have no Wi
Fi then you can t access your social media and wouldn t be distracted. You also won t be
distracting while driving because you won t have Wi Fi and it is actually safer because you can
pay more attention to driving than being on social media. Computers also don t receive text
messages nor phone calls, which is a good thing. This electronic is also good for when doing
homework because you can listen to music, type better, and faster on the keyboard. In contrary,
smartphones are very distracting. Smartphones can be helpful when you can t access Wi Fi for
google maps or just looking up a store for hours, email and other notifications. Smart phones

Alkaline Phosphatase Lab
This experiment has allowed the determination and calculation of different kinetic parameters for
alkaline phosphatase. First, it was necessary to generate a standard curve for PNP presenting the
absorbance as a function of the concentration of PNP since the remaining of the experiment is
based on measuring absorbance values of PNP. This standard curve is then a good tool to convert
those absorbance values into PNP concentrationvalues that can be used to study the kinetics of the
alkaline phosphatase enzyme. Once the standard curve was generated, an assay optimization was
performed to determine the best enzyme to be used. This was done through catalyzing the reaction
of conversion of PNPP to PNP by using different alkaline phosphatase concentrations.... Show more
content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, we can talk about error in the standard curve made which could be related to measurements
of the absorbance leading to the equation of the straight line that could affect all of the
calculations. Another source of error, as mentioned before, could be in the choice of the alkaline
phosphatase concentration in B. Choosing a concentration that is not very accurate would have
affected part C in the experiment. As of what concerns future improvements of this experiment,
more standard dilutions could be used to generate the standard curve so that there is a wider
range of values of concentrations of PNP for a more accurate conversion from absorbance values
to PNP concentration values along the experiment. Furthermore, in part B and C more alkaline
phosphatase dilutions and more PNPP dilutions could be prepared for the same reason:
providing a wider range of values and therefore more accuracy in calculations. An addition area of
improvement could also be related to the preparation of alkaline phosphatase in the first, trying to
make a preparation that is as pure as possible for a higher value for the specific activity. Overall,
enzyme kinetics experiments have many complex parts that have different potential areas of errors
but also different areas of improvements as they are implicated in many fields of industrial
applications including experiments to

My Experience In Football
Football has been a major part of my life for seven years now, it has also taught me many
important life lessons never give up in difficult times, always work as a team and never put

stronger but this time it ll be harder.
On the third play of defense I shot off the line and barely slipped by the offensive tackle who
aimed to take out my legs. I bolted down the line pursuing the ball carrier in a mass of offenders
and I was getting ready to tackle the running back. I had planted my foot to help tackle the running
back and all of a sudden the bottom part of my left leg crunched. I tried to get off the ground but
it was difficult. I kept trying to stand up, but my leg wouldn t let me, it kept knocking me off of
my feet. I eventually got up on my right leg and started hopping to the side line. The whole time
I was screaming at the coaches to get me a substitute and I was cursing as well. I was about
halfway to the sideline before I started crying, but I wasn t crying because it hurt, I was crying
because this was my year to do the best that I ever had in football, my senior year. I got to the

one of the coaches kept telling me everything will be okay. I couldn t even listen to them. They
were just distant voices when they were talking, it just made me aggravated. I knew it wasn t okay.

Relationship Between Relationship Marketing And Customer...
When examined historically, relationship marketing and customer relationship management have
been two central essentials in marketing strategy in the past decades. Customer Relationship
Management term originated at the beginning of the 20th century when the concept of marketing
shifted from transactional to relational. The shift toward this more personal marketingapproach has
been stemmed from the increased demand for attention of consumers who want to ensure that the
brands they choose not only offer and sell products or services, but they sincerely care about them.
This emotional demand caused companies to act accordingly and thus human like brand
communication systems and relationship marketingstrategies which try to understand and answer
customers more deeply and carefully started to occur. Brands started to emphasize the real human
beings behind their logos, pay the attention what their customers need and display human like

William Shakespeare s Macbeth
One of the most astounding themes William Shakespeare incorporates in his widely prominent
story of, Macbeth, is the utterly sheer shift in Macbeth s personality throughout the piece. It is
commonly debated that the rapidly altering deposition of Macbeth had since served as the
underlying facets and influences behind his ultimate collapse. However, Arthur Kirsch, Writer of
Macbeths Suicide, insists that perhaps Macbeth did not develop a sense of insanity, but he was
murdering out of confidence in his future. On the other hand, In Miguel Bernad Article, The Five
Tragedies in Macbeth , Bernarddescribes that Macbeth s ever changing deposition and lust for
bloodshed was linked to this downfall. A variety of factors influenced Macbeth to... Show more

Revealing that he is aware that there is no significant reason to kill Duncan other than for personal
gain, this quote can be utilized to pinpoint a significant divulgence in the beginning of Macbeth s
developing insanity while also displaying his overbearing ambitious nature. While in Bernad s
article The Five Tragedies in Macbeth, the author asserts that Macbeth was prompted by inner
ambitions and external urgings he murders the king and assumes the crown... Since to be thus is
nothing but to be safely thus , he plunges into an orgy of crime which eventually loses him his
queen, his crown and his life. (Bernad 1) This quote best supports the common ideology that
Macbeth s overbearing ambition ultimately resulted in his emerging insanity. This inadequate
everlasting sense of eagerness bestowed Macbeth with additional complications. For example,
because of Macbeth s driving impulse to successfully become king, he developed the urge to
achieve his goals by any means possible. Bernad believes that In desperation, Macbeth seeks solace
in blood. But it brings him no peace. (Bernad 51). This quote can be utilized to exploit the general
idea that Macbeth persistently attempts to achieve indisputable serenity throughout the devious,
innocent murders. Thus, providing context as one primary

Summary Of El Cajun
After watching the video footage of the police shootout with a suspect, I believe that the title of
the article called El Cajun Videos Shows Police Officer Shooting Unarmed Black Man, was
another way for the media to portray the police officers as the enemy regarding an issue that has
been angering citizens for years. The issue at hand is that many activist groups have come
together claiming that officers are purposely shooting African American people for no reason.
The La Times article s title is very unfair and does not provide a good briefing on what actually
happened on the scene. Immediately, as a reader, one would automatically assume that the officer
shot the man to death, even though he was unarmed. What the media does not show is the side of
the officer. For instance, the officer claimed that the man had pointed a device towards the officers
that looked like a gun, which would provide objective reason for the officer taking out his gun.
Even though it ended up not being a gun, the officer did not want to find out the hard way that the
man was actually armed with something that would risk his life.... Show more content on

For this reason alone, the officer was allowed to point the gun at the man because he felt his life
was at risk once the man had pointed an object that looked like a gun in his direction. The article

swaying back and forth not complying with the officer. This alone shows the reader that this man

The Human Genome Project Essay
The Human Genome Project is a worldwide research effort with the goal of analyzing the structure
of human DNA and determining the location of the estimated 100,000 human genes. The DNA of a
set of model organisms will be studied to provide the information necessary for understanding the
functioning of the human genome. The information gathered by the human genome projectis
expected to be the source book for biomedical science in the twenty first century and will be of
great value to the field of medicine. The project will help us to understand and eventually treat more
than 4,000 genetic diseases that affect mankind. The scientific products of the human genome
project will include a resource of genomic maps and DNAsequence information... Show more

The overall budget needs for the effort are expected to be about $200 million per year for
approximately 15 years.
Lasers are used in the detection of DNA in many aspects of the project; a very important use is in
sorting chromosomes by flow cytometry. Lasers are also used in confocal fluorescence laser
microscopy to excite fluorescently tagged molecules in genome mapping, in addition to other
mapping uses. In diagnostic applications, lasers are used with fluorescent probes attached to DNA
to light up chromosomes and to create patterns on DNA chips.
From the beginning of the human genome project it was clearly recognized that acquisition and use
of such genetic knowledge would have momentous involvements for both individuals and society
and would pose a number of consequential choices for public and professional deliberation.
As Thomas Lee writes, quot;the effort underway is unlike anything ever before attempted, if
successful, it could lead to our ultimate control of human disease, aging, and death quot;.
Whatever its justification, the human genome project has already inspired society with the hope of
quot;better quot; babies, and one way to deploy pragmatism in the analysis of genetic engineering
is to look at this promise of quot;better quot; babies in its social context: parenthood. Parents hope
for healthy children and, if they could afford it, make choices (such as choosing parental care) to
help quot;engineer quot; healthier babies.

Power Of Women In The Canterbury Tales
Many medieval texts seem to focus on depicting men and their adventures fighting evil, they
nonetheless have quite a bit to say about women exerting power in these texts. The 2 medieval
works that portrays women exerting power is, The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s tale
prologue and The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and tale , both written by Geoffrey
Chaucer.
The women in these texts portray their power through sexuality. This is one of the abilities that
women can offer to have maximum power. Women are usually shown as an impotent object that
can only bare children and are expected to be mothers. Women typically are not seen as warriors or
heroes, because of the antifeminist views by men back in the medieval texts. The Canterbury tales:
the wife of bath s prologue by Chaucer is about a woman who exercises power and authority
through her instrument of sexuality towards her husbands. This woman has utter control over her
men, which proves the statement that women do exert power over men in these medieval passages.

saying contradicts how she behaves. Is she believes that what the scoundrel said is a lie, then she
has no excuse to behave the way she does to her husbands, except the fact that her husbands are
henpecked. The wife also has an entertaining side of her, which is seemingly positive. The woman
already has five husbands that worship her, but she says that she would marry a sixth man if he

Management Is The Process Of Human Resource Management
Question Two. Management is the process of managing the organizational resources: financial
resources, information resources, physical resources, and human resources. It is important to
mention that the proper usage of other resources depends on the human resources. The success or
failure of the company depends mostly on the capability of its people. The main responsibility of
the human resources professionals is to control the human resources in an effective way but
controlling the human resources during organizational change is very difficult and complex.
Human resources professionals are supposed to act an active role in managing change in the
company. The roles of human resources professionals are not only important to manage the
company change but also to find a culture of change in the company. Human resources
professionals are supposed to play the roles that are parallel to the requirements of changing
situations. They have to come out from the traditional roles framework. Some of changes make

Social Penetration
Why do some relationships progress quickly more than others? In order to understand this,
relationship must be defined. According to Merriam Webster s Dictionary, A relationship is a type
of connection existing between people that have a relation or dealing with each other. It is through
the process of communication, which is the process where human beings transmit ideas, information,
and attitudes to one another, that our relationships are forged. Without communication there would
be no relationships involved with people. Many communication scholars have tried to study on how
these relationships develop. Irwin Altman and Dalmas Taylor had developed a theory, social

With that being said, we move towards the affective exchange where a great deal of open
exchange occurs. Claire finally admits that she is a virgin. Towards the movie the group moves
towards affective exchange when they talk about their attitudes towards their parents. They all
have something in common. They all dislike certain aspects of their parents. They were showing
a form of self disclosure, which involves communication about self that can deepen relationships,
increase self acceptance, and can [help] discover yourself more deeply and in turn you can solve
more problems (Lindsley В¶2); and reciprocity, which is when one person reveals something
about him or herself, the other person tend to reply with similar information (Miller 169).
Reciprocity is seen as a way to establish trust, and once trust is established there is little concern
since unilateral disclosure carries little risk (Porter В¶25 ). Finally at the end of the movie, they
move to stable exchange where in the final scene Claire kisses John and Andrew kisses Allison.
The group of five students, who at first did not get along have become close friends in the end
enriched with communication, candidness [and] emotion (Brown 89)
In most cases people desire to have the stable exchange, which is the final stage of the theory. In
order to obtain the final stage people as we seen in The Breakfast Club one must learn to break
down the barriers that they have built up

Maternal Filicide Essay
A child that is murdered by their mother is known as maternal filicide . Children that killed
within their first year of being born is known as infanticide . An infant killed with the first 24
hours of being born is known as neonaticide (Friedman, S., Resnick, P. J. 2007). Unfortunately,
these words exist because there is a history of children being killed by their parents, which yearly
about 450 children intentionally murdered by a parent. Furthermore, FBI homicide data
correlates three out of four child victims are younger than 5. While Northeastern data a large
portion of filicide are from parents that are going through some form of custody battle (Bello,
2014). These statistics makes Susan s case even more unique that her case goes against the
majority or what data suggest. Another case that goes against the norm is Mitchelle Blair who
also committed maternal filicide. She claim she killed her two children, a 13 year old daughter
and 9 year old son. Mitchelle says she killed her children because they were raping her youngest
child (Chuck, 2015). To add to this list Tonya Thomas murdered her four children ages 12,13, 15,
and 17 years old before killing herself (Jennings, Smith, 2012). Julie Schenecker killed her teen
children also which raises the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The foundation of maternal filicide seems to be filled with some form of depression. New
Zealand study found that depressed mothers tend to contemplate the killing of their children for
days to weeks prior to their crimes (Bello, 2014). Data, reports, interviews, and case studies all can
paint a mother that kills their own child differently (Eriksson, Mazerolle, Wortley, Johnson, 2016). I
believe there are three truths correlated to maternal filicide which are unhappiness, stress, and
depression. All three of these factors in some way come together and contribute to a woman
disregarding what most would consider most

The Conflict Within The Family, By Alison Bechdel, Joan...
Families, which are basic units of human commit, are constructed from individuals with unique
character; these individuals taken as a whole, construct the larger character of the family itself.
However, because no individual s character is perfectly compatible with another s, there exist
inevitable conflict within the family, such as can be expressed as conflict between the self and
either another single member or the entire group. Naturally, the rational self will seek to
ameliorate such as conflict, perhaps by simply accepting it as a natural part of human life. Other
instances, which form the basis of the essay and find roots in essays by Alison Bechdel, Joan
Didion, and Richard Rodriguez, occur when such acceptance does not. I strongly suggest that the
common response to familial conflict, avoidance, that is, escaping the friction between human
characters by refusing on some level to participate in family, introduces a new conflict. While
Didion, Bechdel, and Rodriguez, provide textual support to the birth of this second conflict, I
shall seek to explain its nature. Born of contrasting characters in family and self, conflict will not
be replaced, but bolstered in avoidance. Thus, in acceptance, the self finds resolution. Though I
say it nonetheless, it is fairly obvious that most people participate in some kind of a familial unit
as previously described, and thus are familiar with the conflicts to which I alluded. The piece by
Joan Didion, entitled On Going

Speech On Luck

recipients (deserving or not) of incredible luck. They were at a party and heard cocktail chatter

The first century Roman philosopher Seneca said, Luck is what happens when preparation meets
opportunity. A lot of folks have echoed that sentiment over the millennia. Luck favors those who

mostly, we must make our own luck by taking advantage of every opportunity we recognize or

The Effects Of Radiation Exposure On Medical Radiation
Why is this a problem
About 15% of the ionizing radiation exposure to the people comes from man made sources and
almost all of these exposures are due to medical radiation, which is vastly from diagnostic and
therapeutic sources(9). Out of 3 mSv annual global per caput effective dose (2000), 2.4 mSv is
from natural background and 0.4 mSv from diagnostic medical exams(5,9). and since then many
new therapeutic and diagnostic methods have been implemented making the exposure dose due to
medical radiation to go up. The problem with this increase is that elevated risk of radiation related
cancers such as of the thyroid, salivary gland, central nervous system, skin, and breast as well as
leukemia.(1,6) because of these observed risks the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there are recommendations and guidelines they are modified by criteria where the patient
is at high risk for dental caries(9).
How to minimize dose
Dental X rays accounts for about 2.5 percent of the effective dose from all forms of medical
radiographs (75). As previously discussed, dental radiation exposure is low; but, it is the dentists
responsibility to follow the guidelines such as ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) and
ALADA (As Low as Diagnostically Acceptable) principles(3). Some of the ways that can that be
helpful in minimizing dosage are use of the fastest image receptor compatible with the diagnostic
task (F speed film or digital)(1), proper film exposure and processing techniques, collimation of the
beam to the size of the receptor, use of protective aprons and thyroid collars, (8) and limiting the
number of images obtained to the minimum necessary to obtain essential diagnostic information.
Frequency of exams
As previously mentioned Dental professionals need to carefully examine the patient health
history, oral clinical observation and caries risk assessment to determine if radiographs are
necessary and keep the exposure ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable). When it comes to

Deforestation And Its Effects On Deforestation
Rainforests are found typically in tropical areas with a constant heavy rainfall in its biodiversity.
When areas of rainforests are destroyed, it s not just the trees that disappear. It s time for the
government to take action on deforestation. Rainforests are an important location for indigenous
people and animals because that s where their home belongs. Yet the government and organizations
ignore those facts and just demolish their homes in order to gain a new location for productions. It
s a topic that s constantly debated in politics and society should take a recognition on what s
happening in deforestation. More than half of the world s rainforests are destroyed and is in danger
by humans, therefore, the government shouldn t allow deforestation anymore in order to save the
remaining rainforests in the environment because it affects habitats, species, and indigenous
people. Loss of habitats is an evident threat in the rainforestas the facilities continue to form new
funds to buildings and resources. In deforestation, people can profit and revenue on the resources
to inhibit for society to use. They profit on the resources they sell to other countries after they
obtain the sources they received from the rainforests. Rather than the facilities looking at a profit
for their own benefits, the destruction of the land will cause the species to never return back nor
will it provide shelter for them in their adapting habitat. Even if deforestation is to distribute goods

Social Motivation Of Social Ministry
Introduction Many churches have moved beyond the atonement only gospel to become socially
involved in their community in providing ministries such as, relief services, personal development
services and community development services. This strategy, of social involvement by the church
has been welcomed by many and has increased positive perception of the church and by extension
amplified the impact of the church. But, what is the motivation behind these social involvements
of the church. Is it something that they do in order to be more effective and relevant in sharing
the gospel? Or is it something they do because it is genetically linked to their faith? In this paper,
the writer will argue that in principle, social ministry should not be done as a means to make the
church relevant. That is, the motivation behind church based social interventions should not be
solely based on being relevant in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, which is to
make disciples. The writer proposes that social ministry ought to be a natural outworking of the
church. As such, a church cannot be considered authentic if it is not involved in social ministry.
Self benefit Motivation If the church is motivated to be socially involved because of the need to
make the ministry of church relevant, in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, then
the focus is not on the need of the person or community but, rather it is on the church achieving its
missional goal. In this

Rfid ( Radio Frequency Identification ) Essay
RFID (radio frequency identification) uses radio waves to transmit information between RFID
tags (chips) and RFID readers (What is RFID?, n.d.). There are two basic types of RFID tags.
Active tags are larger and more expensive because they require an independent power supply to
function, passive tags are cheaper, smaller and do not need a separate power supply (The Different
Types of RFIDSystems, n.d.). Initially, we will be implementing the use of passive RFID tags,
which will help control the costs of this project. Once the RFID project is functioning according to
our expectations, we will expand our RFID system to include the use of active RFID tags. The
implementation of RFID technology will require a significant financial investment for a system
wide implementation. Depending upon the extent of our investment in RFID technology, we could
enhance our control of access to certain areas, improve inventory management, and monitor our
patients movements throughout our RFID equipped facilities (Niles, 2015, p. 384)
Phase one of the RFID implementation project will increase the security of our facilities and
parking structures. All hospital staff will be issued new employee identification badges that have
integrated RFID tags inside of them. Instead of replacing current badges, we have the option to
issue RFID sticker tags to be placed on the back of their current ID badge. The use of RFID Stickers

There are some characteristics that Venus does have on the ground. More than a thousand
volcanoes or volcanic centers larger than 12 miles (20 kilometers) in diameter dot the surface of
Venus. Volcanic flows have produced long, sinuous channels extending for hundreds of kilometers.
(Science.NationalGeographic.com para. 8 n.d). The landmass on Venus is potholed by small
craters by meteor or comet strikes. Most of Venus is covered with smooth volcanic plains, with
two large continents standing out. Ishtar Terra lies to the north, covering an area approximately
the size of Australia, while the Africa sized Aphrodite Terra lies just south of the equator. (Reed
para. 4 2012). Unfortunately not much is known about the surface features, however, we know
there are wind swept dunes and volcanoes. The land masses on Venus unlike Earth does not sit on
hard rock or water like the continents do on the Earth and Mars; Venus however, is far too hot for
water and heavy metals would melt due to the heat. The continents on Venus float on liquid magma.

Summary Of Beethoven Sonata First Movement

T252 Conditional Pass Analysis Paper
Fall 2014
Beethoven s Waldstein Sonata First Movement
Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Opus 53 is one of the most technically challenging and
compositionally ambitious piano sonatas by Beethoven. The name of the sonata, Waldstein , is
derived from Beethoven s dedication, Count Ferdinand Ernst Gabriel von Waldstein of Vienna, a
long time close friend and patron of the composer. Composed from 1803 to 1804, it is one of the
most important pieces of Beethoven s middle period and surpasses all the earlier sonatas in scope,
power, and energy. Like many other major pieces around the time the piece was composed,
Beethoven was constantly augmenting the sonata form, giving significantly more ... Show more

The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This
feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the
movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the
movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords.
The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2),
which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic
tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise
motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F,
temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C
major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left
descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift.
We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as
component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the
movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four
measures are repeated, but the music

The Importance Of Drug Smuggling In Australia
Nearly one third of the 545 Australians currently imprisoned or facing charges overseas were
convicted or arrested for drug related crimes, according to the latest figures from the Department of
Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Drug smuggling overseas is an enormous problem in our generation.
Our society has seen countless of offenders in the newspapers and on social media, including the
outrageously infamous Bali Nine, Cassie Sainsbury and Schapelle Corby as the drug smugglers
most emphasised in the media in the last 15 years. Serious criminal offences committed like these
cases see drug smugglers sentenced to harsh sentences in overseas countries like Bali and
Columbia. However for large cases like these, special applications can be made for Serious
Overseas Criminal Matters through the government. The only way to be eligible for Serious
Overseas Criminal Matters is by being sentenced to either imprisonment for 20 years or more, or
the death penalty. To be sentenced to convictions like this the person must have committed a
serious offence, involving a large amount of drugs. When amounts like these are used in cases it s
hard to understand how the convicted person is not guilty. It goes without saying innocent until
proven guilty and cases like Schapelle Corby and Cassie Sainsbury continually express their
innocence, however with evidence and flaws in their cases it s hard to see how innocent is the
case. Drug smuggling, whether it be a mule or the ringleader is a seriously

Blanche Dubois Death
Death, Desire, and DuBois Set in 1947 in the French Quarter of New Orleans, A Streetcar Named
Desire, written by playwright Tennessee Williams, transpires from the motifs of death and desire.
The drama follows the disillusioned, tragically flawed life of Blanche DuBois who seeks refuge
with her sister Stella and brutish brother in law Stanley Kowalskiafter the loss of her family s estate.
As the play progresses, Williams reveals the many layers of Blanche s unfortunate past and the
interpretation behind her escalating hysteria and delusional fate prompted by her inability to
confront reality. In the first scene, Blanche is brought to the Kowalskis by two streetcars. She first
boards the streetcar named Desire and then transfers to the subsequent... Show more content on

She admits, Death―I used to sit here and she used to sit over there and death was as close as you

from the death she has experienced in her past, as well as the fear of its existence in her future.
Williams s creation of death and desire as two perpetual themes throughout the play grow
increasingly dependent upon each other. The synthesis of the two motifs is ultimately the effect
of Blanche s initial experience with a self consuming, one sided relationship that fell short due to
the workings of death. Blanche was married at a young age to a boy she was deeply in love with.
However, his sudden suicide marked her initial desire to disguise her sadness with intimacies with
strangers in an attempt to avoid any further damage that death could cause her. From then on, desire
became Blanche s way of subsisting through

Sociologists of Science Essay
The ethos of science was always been about seeking for the truth. Ptolemy wanted to know what
was in the heavens. Newton wanted to know about motion and force. Einstein wanted to know
about protons and relativity. These scientists and many others have always had that pure desire of
wanting to learn the truth about what they were interested. However, if we were to examine the
present, scientists today are struggling not because of their truth seeking journeys but because of
the need to produce results so that they can still have the opportunity of keeping their jobs
researching the subjects that they have researching for the past few years. In today s lab, we see
researchers scrounging around for grant money and yelling on the phone with... Show more content

Merton believed that communalism, universalism, disinterestedness, and organized skepticism
should be the standards that produce good scientific evidence. Communalism is the idea is that all
theories should be commonly owned by all scientists and the original discoverer should trade the
theory for fame and recognition. Communalism is the thinking that a discovery should not be an
individual s but rather the discovery and its products should be shared among the scientific
community. Universalism is the idea that all scientific claims should not be judged based upon the
discoverer s race, class, gender, religion, or nationality, etc. This idea omits favoritism and
discrimination and produces an impartial platform for all scientists and their findings.
Disinterestedness is the notion that good scientists must act unselfish when judging or creating a
new theory. This thought is necessary because there would be too much bias within the theory if
the scientist acted in a selfish manner, such as choosing only data that suspiciously match with one
s hypotheses. Finally, organized skepticism is the opinion that good scientists must test and
scrutinize thoroughly new theories before they become accepted by the scientific community.
These scientific norms sieve out the imperfections of theories to bring forth the most suitable for
the community. Let us use Aristarchus heliocentric theory as an example to understand the effects

College Essay On Becoming A Nurse
Becoming a Nurse is more than a job, it s an experience
To me, becoming a nurse is far more than just showing up to work daily. It s a lifestyle choice, a
continuous learning process that you engage in daily, a pursuit that s guided by passion and
integrity. A wonderful journey where you can make a direct impact in someone s life daily. From
educating patients about medication and treatment plans, to holding their hand at the end of life s
journey. Nursing truly defines what it means to be human.
I started my experience 2010, when I attended Hancock County Technical Center my senior year of
high school obtaining my CNA. I then started working at Narraguagus Health Care Facility the
summer after graduation taking care of long term care patients. I worked there for 3 years,
while attending Beal College to earn my Associates Degree in Medical Assisting. Once, I
graduated from the Medical Assisting program in 2013. I worked in home health taking care of a
patient, who was shut in for a little over a year. I got my current job at EMMC in the

Mdh Assay Lab Report
Enzymes are biological catalysts, usually made up of protein molecules that act on one or more
specific substrates, converting them to products with different molecular structures. Malate
Dehydrogenase (MDH) is one example of an enzyme that catalyzes oxaloacetic acid and NADH
into malic acid and NAD+ as part of the citric cycle. In order to perform the MDH assay, a solution
of pure MDH was collected from bovine heart. A control assay was performed, along with three
experimental groups to test concentration, pH, and temperature. Units of activity were calculated
and showed that all three variables have an effect on enzyme activity. MDH was shown to have an
optimum pH, concentration, and temperature at which enzyme activity was at its highest... Show

It was hypothesized that as the enzyme concentration increases, the reaction rate increases. Also
that as the pH moves away, both increasing and decreasing, from the optimum pH (7.5) the reaction
rate decreases. Lastly, as the temperature moves away, both increasing and decreasing, from the
optimum temperature (37 oC) the reaction rate decreases. All of the results, as described below,
were consistent with the hypothesis that was made. As the results show in Figure 1, as the
concentration of enzymes is increased, the units of activity also increased with the maximum being
0.0622 Вµmol/min at 1X concentration. This may be because when the enzyme is in a higher
concentration there is more catalyst present, causing the reaction rate to increase. As Figure 2
shows, altering the pH, either higher or lower, had a negative effect on the reaction rate. This
indicates that the optimum pH for this reaction is approximately 7.5, giving a rate of 0.0622 Вµmol
/min. It is possible that altering the pH to extreme highs or lows causes the configuration of the
enzyme to be altered and inhibits the biochemical system. The results also show that temperature
has an affect on the reaction

Questions And Answers From A Troubled Peace
Four questions and answers from A Troubled Peace
1. Why President Reagan had a good relationship with President Chun, and what incidents make this
relationship stronger?
в†’ President Reagan had basic ideas about the danger of appeasement and the evils of communism.
He regarded South Korea as a stalwart ally and a valiant symbol of resistance to communism.
Therefore, Reagan ignored President Chun s record of antidemocratic activities (p.113). In Reagan
s view, Chun resembled former President Park in terms of his strong political leadership, anti
Communist commitment, and emphasis on economic advancement. Also, Reagan administration
was satisfied with the consolidation of a stable situation under President Chun (p.116). In addition,
two accidents strengthen the Reagan administration s support to South Korea. First, on October 9,
1983, North Korean attack in the Martyrs Mausoleum of Rangoon, Burma, killed 17 South
Koreans and four Burmese. Even though President Chun saved his life, South Korea lost many
high ranking officials (p.119). Second, on September 1, 1983, the Soviet Union attacked Korean
Air Lines Flight 007 because the flight had intruded into Soviet territory to gather military
intelligence for the U.S. After the incident, Reagan assailed Soviet s massacre and savagery in his
public addresses and launch a vigorous anti Soviet campaign (p.117). After these two events,
President Reagan visited South Korea three days in November 1983 and expressed the U.S.

Bement Drug Problem
Bement, Illinois is a village where people talk to their neighbors and offer a helping hand in the

aren t able to easily access drugs. Even with a drugproblem, Bement is one of the strongest
community s I have ever seen. Parents always stepped up to plate and volunteer their time to help
the teachers with projects. The people in the community try to give their money back to community

Immanuel Kant And Kant s Philosophy Essay
Immanuel Kant in his work An answer to the Question: What is Enlightenment? reflects his
understanding of immaturity as the main source for not being enlighten(p.41). It is true that Kant
animalized human beings , It is so easy to be immature is best understood as an attack towards
human beings because of our naivetГ©. It is only normal for us to apprehend knowledge from
others. Immanuel Kantemphasizes on the lack of self esteem, caring, and trustworthiness in
ourselves. The lack of zeal to discover what is good for thyself and what is not. An immature
person has always been known as somebody who cannot take care of himself. The immature will
never seek to understand on his own but borrow ideologies from others. According to Kant
immaturity is the inability to use one s understanding without guidance from another (WE p.41).
Assuredly, we can see throughout the text that Kant is not stressing on an age or period in our
lives to be able to eventually be matured enough to takes grown up affairs into consideration and
become mature. What he really means is that we must learn how to be dependent by ourselves,
Kant states for after falling a few times they would end. certainly learn to walk ( WE p.41).
However, the claim that Kant mentioned does not mean that we must learn how to become
geniuses by our own instinct, this would be quite a ludicrous claim to state, but he is trying to
emphasize on the fact that we take too much time to do so after we have the means and

The Power Of The Executive Branch
As the President of the United States, we see him, or possibly in the future her, as the supreme

assumes the position as head of state and Commander in Chief of the armed forces. Everything
you hear from the President is supposed to carry a heavy weight because it is coming from a
higher authority figure. You would think with a stroke of a feather light pen and whatever wish
the President has asked for has been granted. Not exactly. The president has powers outlined
specifically by Article II Section II of Constitution. Although it implements fewer explicit
powers to the president than it does Congress. Opposing popular belief, our president powers are

it limits powers of the President but Congress, as well. It comes downs to the approval of a bill, the
proposed legislation goes through congress before a decision is made. As we learned, if a President

  • 2. The Influence Of Western Civilization The Influence of western Civilization Western Civilization has had a tremendous influence on many different cultures worldwide. From the Hispanic cultures in South and Central America, to the Caribbean islands, and also to the various exotic African countries, and even to the distinguished cultures that reside in the continent of Asia. In many ways than one, these cultures have been molded to be as westernized as they could possibly be without losing their traditional customs indefinitely. They re religion, fashion sense, and family structures have all been altered in some form so that it could resemble the western nation s patriarch. Countries in North America and Europe have for centuries traveled to different continents in the world and colonized many nations, as a result of that, many of the customs and traditions of those people have been shaped to be a bit more westernized. One prime element in different cultures that was influenced by Western countries is religion. Religion is defined as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power that could be one s own personal God, Gods, or even Goddesses. The most popular and followed religion in the world is Christianity. Christianity is also widely known and accepted as a European/ Westernized religion though the origin of Christianity began in what is today the Middle East, and Asia. In fact, Jesus of Nazareth was a Jew; that is, He belonged to an Asian tribe closely related to the Syrians and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Example Of Irreversible Inequality Irreversible Inequality In this paper I will be explaining why social inequality is irreversible. A large part of this is due to social structure (forces outside our control), agency (our choices), and structuration (the way the previous two work together to shape our lives). This aspect of social inequality will be dove into deeper in the next paragraph, discussing how it shapes our views of societal norms. Next, I will discuss social inequality specifically in race and gender and how it will not be able to be reversed. Using Karl Marx s Conflict Theory, I will point out the flaws in believing that society can reverse social inequality. By using multiple examples of social inequality through history, research, and present day, it will become clear that social inequality is irreversible. Structure, agency, and structuration play a significant role in social inequality. Social structure are things that are outside a person s control, but still affect the person. Agency is the actions of individuals and each person s choices. Structuration is referring to how each person s life is shaped by uncontrollable influences, structure, and by their own choices, agency. An example of social structure affecting agency would be growing up in a poor neighborhood effecting what kind of education you receive. Poorer neighborhoods typically have a lower quality school, resulting in a lower quality education. In every society, there is a cultural norm, or an expected right behavior. When ... • 5. Similarities Between Lincoln And Frederick Douglass The Radical and the Republican Abraham Lincoln and Fredrick Douglas were two extremely important men. Lincoln grew up in an anti slavery home. His parents were anti slavery and the church they went to was against slavery. Growing up he thought that blacks should have the same rights as the white men. [1] Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Lincoln was a nice quite guy until the Kansas Nebraska Act passed in 1854. This made him unhappy. So he then began to speak in political debates. Fredrick was a reformer for most of his life. Fredrick didn t notice Lincoln until his debates with Stephen Douglas. Lincoln would make strong and engaging speeches. Douglas could not support any ideas that Lincoln had said. Lincoln would present speeches that made him sound like a racist. Soon he plans to join the Republican party. Douglas had a thought of getting rid of slavery completely. When Lincoln heard this he thought there was no way. Lincoln was also a lawyer at this time. His understanding was that the Constitution protected slavery. So he thought there was no chance in this happening. Lincoln and Douglas had the same thought but their pieces just didn t fit together. Lincoln felt forced to sign for Laws he didn t believe in. He did not agree with the Fugitive Slave Act. Which was if slaves ran away and you found them then you had to return them. • 6. Historical Accuracy Of The Movie Gladiator The movie and film industry is known for putting unnecessary amounts of drama into productions to keep the audience s attention and gain maximum amounts of profit. Historical drama films are typically more about the entertainment than the historical accuracy. The production Gladiator directed by Ridley Scott in 2000 is a good example of this but in this film, there are some parts that are historically accurate. The movie Gladiator is an epic historical drama film that takes place in Ancient Rome, where a General by the name of Maximus Decimus Meridius was declared successor to the ill Emperor Marcus Aurelius. • 7. Bonobo Intelligence Animal Essay Why do we say that Bonobo has intelligence? Similar to humans might be a partial reason why Bonobo is classified as intelligence animal. Many evidences show that Bonobo expresses its intelligence in the natural world. Bonobo is highly intelligence and physically similar to human ancestor. Bonobos were discovered in the forest along the Congo River in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1927. They are named as the pygmy chimpanzees because of the similarities in their physical traits with chimpanzees. A lot of people make the same mistake in recognizing Bonoboand Chimpanzeethough they have the same height. However, Bonobo come with leaner body, smaller head and longer leg than Chimpanzee. Moreover, they physically feature as the closest primates to humanwho hold almost 98.6 percent of their DNA comparing with human.( http: //www.nydailynews.com) Specifically, learning language indicates the most stunning ability about Bonobos intelligence. Human is regarded as the intelligence animal because we can use language which distinguishes us with others. Language covers many combinations of words such as grammars, sentences, phrases that only human can understand. Since I was a child, I usually thought that the world of animal had its own language that we did not know about it. Although many species can understand what their species want to transfer in the world of nature by using methods such as waves or signal, but none of them can deliver it into language. • 9. Student s First Amendment Rights Student s First Amendment Rights: Kindergarten Student Playing a Game If a student says, I am going to shoot you during recess to his friends, does the school have a right to take disciplinary actions? Is it a violation of the student s First Amendment? School officials can restrict speech activities on any student in a school if it has been established there was harm or threats made against others, including teachers. Although the First Amendment states freedom of expression, school officials may punish students for expressing their personal views on school grounds. With the case of S.G. v. Bitcoin is an indented source where individuals create accounts to buy accents in order to have credit. Methods To enhance the data, I gathered for my research and bring it all together, I conducted three semi structured interviews to help me uncover a better understanding of what the impact on a fluctuation in interest rates from the Federal Reserve has on the economy and market in the U.S and other countries. During this time, I had three participants who donated their time to tell me a little more about themselves and what they knew about my topic. We had the date and time set for a face to face interview and it lasted approximately eleven minutes. Participant 3 is very educated and has experience with the stock market and because of his knowledge I chose him to be my third interviewee. Participant three was my first phone interview and it lasted around eight minutes. After completing these three interviews I started my transcribing and coding process. This process definitely took some time to get used to, actually it s still very complicated. I found myself keep rewinding back to get all of the exact detail, and everything that was said every few seconds. My procedure for this was to listen through the whole interview one time to see the tempo of how the interviewee was talking. I wanted to get used to the sound of his voice and the dialect he talked with. The second time I listened I would type as much as I could for one question I asked, and then go back to see what I missed, and keep doing this. • 12. A Note On Disney s Disney Madeline Rihner Mr. Helmsing November 10, 2014 C Block The first stock I decided to invest in was Disney. I chose this stock because I have been a Disney fan my whole life. I think Disney will be a worthwhile stock to follow because it encompasses a broad spectrum of smaller businesses such as entertainment and merchandise. Disney demonstrates a consistent level of high quality and high standards in all it does. Disney is also an innovative company. It always looks to improve and introduce new ideas in all its businesses, whether it is a new ride in the parks or a new type of animation in its movies. With the company s current success with its animated movie Frozen and the completion of New Fantasyland in Disneyworld, the company has been seeing an increase in sales. This in turn, will lead to higher stock values in the company. Disney is a brand that is familiar to the majority of Americans and should be a solid company to invest in. The Walt DisneyCompany was founded in 1923 under the name Disney Studios. Founded by Walt Disney and his brother, Roy Disney, the company first began their animation work on a series known as Alice Comedies. These shorts combined both animations with live action video. After the production of the first short, the company had to file for bankruptcy. The cartoon, however, was very successful, allowing the brothers to reopen where they continued the production of Alice Comedies. In 1927, Walt Disney decided to create a new character to ... Miller Lite is a crystal clear, light golden yellow color liquid. The aroma smells like hoppy bread and it is served cold. A unique benefit that I appreciate that the brand offers me is the low price for quality beer. Like stated before, although Miller Lite is not the beer I would go to if I was looking for a crafted brew, it is the beer I go to that never fails to show me a good time for a low price. I have always enjoyed their marketing campaigns and Super Bowl commercials, which is another feature I appreciate. Along with delivering a good product, they make it fun and enjoyable for consumers, from a marketing standpoint. I am a brand loyalist because Miller Lite provides me with a product that has never let me down; I have never had a problem with the beverage. As a result, it is not a surprise to anyone that many of the largest well known companies such as Visa, MasterCard, AT T, and Verizon have increased their mobile application presence. Few companies in the world today achieve the success Apple has earned over the last couple of decades. Apple was founded by co founders Steve Jobsand Steve Wozniak in 1976 in Cupertino, California, in which both men dropped out of Reed College and UC Berkeley respectively. The year prior, the two men had teamed up to create 50 100 of the first Apple computers. Distracted driving is the act of driving while enabling yourself into other activities and not paying attention to the road or others around you. Since cars have been invented distracted driving has been around in society. People say that distracted driving is the new drunk driving, it is actually supposably more dangerous the drinking and driving. Also they say the more a distracted driver drives with the distractionthe more they get comfortable with it, then the more it happens. It is hard to prevent distracted driving since it is temporary, they usually do the distraction for a short period of time then put it away. Distracted driving is very selfish and wrong, people who are distracted drivers pretty much are telling everyone else on the road that them and their wants are more important than their own life or other drivers on the road s life. Distracted driving can affect any age groups, but typically it is the younger age groups between the ages of fifteen to twenty nine. Truth is though everyone some point in time in their life has been a distracted driver. Ten percent of all drivers fifteen to nineteen are involved in fatal crashes revolved around distractions. Group Communication Analysis Paper Analysis Paper In my opinion, group work is a type of cooperative learning that helps people to accomplish a certain task in a faster and more effective manner. Team working also helps to achieve the tasks that are impossible to finish by one individual. However, if people in a group have a lot of conflicts, group work will not be able to achieve as much as we expected. There are many reasons which lead to dissatisfaction in group work such as individualism as well as conflicts in opinion and time. Initially, I had a negative view on group working because of the challenges that I had. When I was in high school, my five other friends and I used to work together in a music competition. Each member is willing to help other members in the group to complete their tasks. Our group favors description compared to evaluation. Instead of criticizing others behaviors and ideas, we often tell our feelings about problems. All the group members always encourage each other to share their opinions and feelings with the group. Even though some opinions are too conflicting, the main purpose is trying to give all the members equal opportunities to talk about their ideas. Thus, the success of the group is the consequence from the equal contributions of all the members. Besides, in most of the discussions of our group, we are oriented toward problem solving; therefore, we look for the consensus of the ideas in order to solve the problems effectively and quickly. Because our group has many members who have senses of humor, we always maintain an interesting and comfortable atmosphere to gain assertiveness in the group. Sometimes, Ngoc and Phong share their experiences of how they solve their families problems. Before computers were a big deal, but now it s all about smart phones and new ones that are launching soon. People may not think so much about personal computers because today s generation is all about smart phones now. I understand that people can have their own personal opinion and may disagree with what I m saying, but my opinion is that personal computers are better. Personal computers is a better, electronic than smart phones because personal computers are not a distraction, and are a lot more helpful. First, personal computers are less distracting. Computer actually need access to Wi Fi in order to do anything. I believe computer are better because if you have no Wi Fi then you can t access your social media and wouldn t be distracted. You also won t be distracting while driving because you won t have Wi Fi and it is actually safer because you can pay more attention to driving than being on social media. Computers also don t receive text messages nor phone calls, which is a good thing. This electronic is also good for when doing homework because you can listen to music, type better, and faster on the keyboard. In contrary, smartphones are very distracting. • 19. Alkaline Phosphatase Lab This experiment has allowed the determination and calculation of different kinetic parameters for alkaline phosphatase. First, it was necessary to generate a standard curve for PNP presenting the absorbance as a function of the concentration of PNP since the remaining of the experiment is based on measuring absorbance values of PNP. This standard curve is then a good tool to convert those absorbance values into PNP concentrationvalues that can be used to study the kinetics of the alkaline phosphatase enzyme. Once the standard curve was generated, an assay optimization was performed to determine the best enzyme to be used. This was done through catalyzing the reaction of conversion of PNPP to PNP by using different alkaline phosphatase concentrations.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, we can talk about error in the standard curve made which could be related to measurements of the absorbance leading to the equation of the straight line that could affect all of the calculations. Another source of error, as mentioned before, could be in the choice of the alkaline phosphatase concentration in B. Choosing a concentration that is not very accurate would have affected part C in the experiment. As of what concerns future improvements of this experiment, more standard dilutions could be used to generate the standard curve so that there is a wider range of values of concentrations of PNP for a more accurate conversion from absorbance values to PNP concentration values along the experiment. Furthermore, in part B and C more alkaline phosphatase dilutions and more PNPP dilutions could be prepared for the same reason: providing a wider range of values and therefore more accuracy in calculations. An addition area of improvement could also be related to the preparation of alkaline phosphatase in the first, trying to make a preparation that is as pure as possible for a higher value for the specific activity. Overall, enzyme kinetics experiments have many complex parts that have different potential areas of errors but also different areas of improvements as they are implicated in many fields of industrial applications including experiments to ... When examined historically, relationship marketing and customer relationship management have been two central essentials in marketing strategy in the past decades. Customer Relationship Management term originated at the beginning of the 20th century when the concept of marketing shifted from transactional to relational. The shift toward this more personal marketingapproach has been stemmed from the increased demand for attention of consumers who want to ensure that the brands they choose not only offer and sell products or services, but they sincerely care about them. This emotional demand caused companies to act accordingly and thus human like brand communication systems and relationship marketingstrategies which try to understand and answer customers more deeply and carefully started to occur. Brands started to emphasize the real human beings behind their logos, pay the attention what their customers need and display human like humour and intelligence in the way they communicate with their customers to get ahead and compete in the market. Bernad believes that In desperation, Macbeth seeks solace in blood. But it brings him no peace. (Bernad 51). The issue at hand is that many activist groups have come together claiming that officers are purposely shooting African American people for no reason. The La Times article s title is very unfair and does not provide a good briefing on what actually happened on the scene. Immediately, as a reader, one would automatically assume that the officer shot the man to death, even though he was unarmed. What the media does not show is the side of the officer. For instance, the officer claimed that the man had pointed a device towards the officers that looked like a gun, which would provide objective reason for the officer taking out his gun. Power Of Women In The Canterbury Tales Many medieval texts seem to focus on depicting men and their adventures fighting evil, they nonetheless have quite a bit to say about women exerting power in these texts. The 2 medieval works that portrays women exerting power is, The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s tale prologue and The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and tale , both written by Geoffrey Chaucer. The women in these texts portray their power through sexuality. This is one of the abilities that women can offer to have maximum power. Women are usually shown as an impotent object that can only bare children and are expected to be mothers. Women typically are not seen as warriors or heroes, because of the antifeminist views by men back in the medieval texts. The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s prologue by Chaucer is about a woman who exercises power and authority through her instrument of sexuality towards her husbands. However, because no individual s character is perfectly compatible with another s, there exist inevitable conflict within the family, such as can be expressed as conflict between the self and either another single member or the entire group. Naturally, the rational self will seek to ameliorate such as conflict, perhaps by simply accepting it as a natural part of human life. Other instances, which form the basis of the essay and find roots in essays by Alison Bechdel, Joan Didion, and Richard Rodriguez, occur when such acceptance does not. I strongly suggest that the common response to familial conflict, avoidance, that is, escaping the friction between human characters by refusing on some level to participate in family, introduces a new conflict. While Didion, Bechdel, and Rodriguez, provide textual support to the birth of this second conflict, I shall seek to explain its nature. Born of contrasting characters in family and self, conflict will not be replaced, but bolstered in avoidance. Thus, in acceptance, the self finds resolution. Though I say it nonetheless, it is fairly obvious that most people participate in some kind of a familial unit as previously described, and thus are familiar with the conflicts to which I alluded. The Effects Of Radiation Exposure On Medical Radiation Why is this a problem About 15% of the ionizing radiation exposure to the people comes from man made sources and almost all of these exposures are due to medical radiation, which is vastly from diagnostic and therapeutic sources(9). When areas of rainforests are destroyed, it s not just the trees that disappear. It s time for the government to take action on deforestation. Rainforests are an important location for indigenous people and animals because that s where their home belongs. Yet the government and organizations ignore those facts and just demolish their homes in order to gain a new location for productions. It s a topic that s constantly debated in politics and society should take a recognition on what s happening in deforestation. More than half of the world s rainforests are destroyed and is in danger by humans, therefore, the government shouldn t allow deforestation anymore in order to save the remaining rainforests in the environment because it affects habitats, species, and indigenous people. Loss of habitats is an evident threat in the rainforestas the facilities continue to form new funds to buildings and resources. In deforestation, people can profit and revenue on the resources to inhibit for society to use. They profit on the resources they sell to other countries after they obtain the sources they received from the rainforests. • 40. Social Motivation Of Social Ministry Introduction Many churches have moved beyond the atonement only gospel to become socially involved in their community in providing ministries such as, relief services, personal development services and community development services. This strategy, of social involvement by the church has been welcomed by many and has increased positive perception of the church and by extension amplified the impact of the church. But, what is the motivation behind these social involvements of the church. Is it something that they do in order to be more effective and relevant in sharing the gospel? Or is it something they do because it is genetically linked to their faith? In this paper, the writer will argue that in principle, social ministry should not be done as a means to make the church relevant. That is, the motivation behind church based social interventions should not be solely based on being relevant in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, which is to make disciples. The writer proposes that social ministry ought to be a natural outworking of the church. As such, a church cannot be considered authentic if it is not involved in social ministry. Self benefit Motivation If the church is motivated to be socially involved because of the need to make the ministry of church relevant, in order to be more effective in carrying out its mission, then the focus is not on the need of the person or community but, rather it is on the church achieving its missional goal. There are two basic types of RFID tags. Initially, we will be implementing the use of passive RFID tags, which will help control the costs of this project. Once the RFID project is functioning according to our expectations, we will expand our RFID system to include the use of active RFID tags. The implementation of RFID technology will require a significant financial investment for a system wide implementation. Depending upon the extent of our investment in RFID technology, we could enhance our control of access to certain areas, improve inventory management, and monitor our patients movements throughout our RFID equipped facilities (Niles, 2015, p. 384) Phase one of the RFID implementation project will increase the security of our facilities and parking structures. The name of the sonata, Waldstein , is derived from Beethoven s dedication, Count Ferdinand Ernst Gabriel von Waldstein of Vienna, a long time close friend and patron of the composer. Composed from 1803 to 1804, it is one of the most important pieces of Beethoven s middle period and surpasses all the earlier sonatas in scope, power, and energy. The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords. The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2), which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F, temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift. We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four measures are repeated, but the music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of the results, as described below, were consistent with the hypothesis that was made. As the results show in Figure 1, as the concentration of enzymes is increased, the units of activity also increased with the maximum being 0.0622 Вµmol/min at 1X concentration. This may be because when the enzyme is in a higher concentration there is more catalyst present, causing the reaction rate to increase. As Figure 2 shows, altering the pH, either higher or lower, had a negative effect on the reaction rate. This indicates that the optimum pH for this reaction is approximately 7.5, giving a rate of 0.0622 Вµmol /min.
