Crop
• In order to crop you have to
select crop area on the side.
• You then fix the rule of thirds gird
to the specific size that you
would like to crop your image as
and then simply just press ‘apply’
Dark edges
• Now that the image is
cropped to the correct side.
The image needs to have
more focus on the objects
or people in this case.
• Dark edges would be a good
way to catch focus on the
characters.
• You first select the effects
icon.
• You the select the ‘dark
edges effect’ and the select
the colour you would want
it to be. In this case it will
be black.
• It will give you brush
options so that if the dark
edges are overpowering the
image you can rub some of
it of.
• Once you are happy with
your image click ‘apply’.
Draw, eyeshadow
• As we are creating a
supernatural look and feel I
would like the eyes to me dark
and possessed. However
picmonkey does not have that
so we will improvise with the
eye shadow icon. Then we will
select ‘eye shadow’.
• With the brush options we
will draw inside the eyes to
make them completely black
then add white dots to shine
the eyes so they do not look
matte and unrealistic
• Here is the outcome
Image effect
• Next we would like to make the
image look a little old and used
as it is one of the conventions
that I am using from
supernatural films that they
always have an abandoned
location. Therefore we are
going to make the image look
like it has been abandoned for a
while.
• First we go on effects.
• Then select the film grain
effect.
• Then click apply to have a small
old effect.
Old paper affect
• Even though we have added
an effect to it, it still does
not look right. It does to
express the feeling we want
it to.
• So we go to the ‘texture’
icon.
• Select the ‘smudge’ effect.
• Select the first effect and it
should look good enough to
have the specific feeling we
want.
• Click ‘apply’
