 It has intertextuality because it comes from the fairy tale story sleeping
beauty:
Its uses the story and pulls the attention all
onto the which rather than sleeping beauty
herself.
It’s a recycled idea from the fairy-tale in
order to make it seem like it’s a new
movie when it’s just a copy of another.
It’s pastiche because it uses the same type
way to create the story and have the story
line with a little twist.
 Maleficent comes from the fairy-tale sleeping
beauty and it is a recycled idea.
 It’s nostalgic because of it’s use of using
something that has been told various times and
it has nothing new to it. The idea and the story
is recycled even though it’s presented in a
slight different way it’s still recycled because
it’s not an original idea.
 It’s hyperealistic because it takes from a idea of
a real message not to trust anyone to create
something form a myth which is not real in
order to create something unrealistic to leave a
hidden message.
 Also because it’s based on a myth created in a
realistic landscape that looks real but is magical
which is not real.
 It has scopophillia because within the text
maleficent pretends to be the ‘good guy’ in
order to hypnotise the princess into thinking
she’s the good guy to destroy the castle.
 She uses scopophillia to pretend to be
something she is not because she knows she
depends on the princess and the princess is
watching her to see if she truly is who she says
she is.
 It uses GCI to create something that is
impossible in real life so that the fairy-tale can
seem believable and understandable.
 It also uses CGI to set the unrealistic moments
to emphasise that it’s a fairy-tale and to
enchant people to feel engaged.
