The document describes the process of editing an image in Photoshop for a poster and magazine. First, the images were sorted and one was selected and cropped to focus on the actress. The layer was duplicated to experiment without affecting the original. YouTube tutorials were used to learn how to remove the background in order to add a new one. The quick selection tool was used to select parts of the image, and the refine edge tool was used to smooth the selection. Effects like sketch, chrome, water paper were tried on half the image to see the results and find ones that could make the image look ghostly. The smudge tool was useful to merge the two halves without a sharp cut.

2. The first stage of the Photoshop process was to sort the images I had in terms of which ones were good
images and which ones were bad.
3. After I selected an image to experiment with, the first thing I did was crop it and resize because there was a
really big background of the white wall and I wanted to focus on the image of the actress.
4. I then duplicated layer so that I could experiment with the image, but then if I wanted to restart from
scratch, I could just easily delete the layer and I will be left with my original image.
5. After watching some YouTube tutorials, I learnt how to get rid of the background in order to put another
background on. To do this, the first thing I had to do was use the quick selection tool to select the parts of
the image I wanted to keep.
6. After I clicked on ‘Refine Edge’ and then played around with the amount of feathering to
ensure I got a smoother edge.
7. With the quick selection tool, I selected half the image so that I could experiment with different effects. I
only selected half the image so that I could kind of see a before and after comparison.
8. I first experimented by clicking on the different tools such as ‘Sketch’ and then ‘Chrome’ to see what kind of
effects I would get.
9. I also tried effects such as ‘Water paper’ and tried distorting the image found effects which could make the
image look ghostly if I wanted to make it look ghostly for example to portray the genre of my film.
10. I also experimented with the smudge tool because I wanted to see what effect I could get with it. I found
that the smudge tool was useful in merging the two halves of the image together so that there wasn’t a
sharp cut in the middle.
