Personal Statement On Family Therapy
Abstract Family Therapy can be implemented in a different ways in a program that provides a facet of
services, but it s imperative that the approaches used are appropriate for the individual or families
utilizing services. Functional Family Therapy is used to help deal with substance abuse in families but
can also be used to assist with behavioral issues in children. A well rounded family service program
can not only use this one approach but utilize other approaches to meet the needs of the population
being served. And while implementing the service ethics will play a major role in the therapy being
providing. Keywords: Family Therpay, Functional Family Therpay.Ethics Compare and Contrast To
get a full understanding of family theory one must first have the understanding of what is theory.
Theory is a systematic collection of concepts and relations. Family however can mean a broad range
of things to a person. One person may consider family to be father, mother, sister and brother;
however, to someone else family could be just one parent with one child; and to another it could their
friends. Family systems theory however defines the family as a system. Family consist of interrelated
parts, each impacting the other and adding to each other s growth (or detriment) of the other. And
because family is always changing, growing, self organizing, and becoming accustomed to each other
and the exterior environment (White Klein, 2008). Now let s take a look at the

Viewpoints On Ageism
In the past one hundred years, the human life expectancy has increased by thirty years. This trend
continues to rise (Hooyman Kiyak, 2018). As a direct result, the amount of elderly people in our
society will also rise. At first glance, this may seem like a positive growth in our society. However,
when taking a second look, you come to realize that with such a positive trend comes a negative trend:
the growth of ageism. Ageism consists of the stereotypical and discriminatory viewpoints placed upon
an individual based solely on age (Hooyman Kiyak, 2018). Stereotypes generalize large groups of
people primarily on the behaviors or appearances of just a small percentage of people within that
group (Cambridge, 2017). Discrimination is the act of treating someone unfairly based upon certain
personal attributes (Cambridge, 2017). Ageist viewpoints create a preconceived divide between the
technological abilities of the younger and older generations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They illustrate the notion that older people are dependent, obtuse, and not as technologically advanced
(Effros, Hsu, Levy Storms, 2017). As we watch these shows, we are reinforcing these ageist views
within our minds and conclude that every person encountered must have those common traits of those
that we see on the screen. Often, these traits cause a divide between the older and younger generation
because the stereotypes create such a dramatic contrast between the two age groups. One of the most
prevalent ageist viewpoints is the idea that millennials are technologically advanced while older
generations are technologically

The Privacy Of The National Security
In an age of what appears to be increasing insecurity, Americans have to make a choice between being
secure and maintaining civil liberties, or leaving it up to the government to decide. The privacy of
Americans should be taken into more consideration when using surveillance and other methods to
watch the people. Privacy today faces growing threats from a developing surveillance apparatus that is
repeatedly justified in the name of the national security. Security is privileged over values, such as
civil liberties after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Due to this horrendous event, the national
government commenced its surveillance attack in hopes of stopping another terrorist outbreak from
happening, but it only created a divide within the American people. The government is trying to
rebuild the security that was lost ( Money ). Their plan involves increasing the surveillance, listening
to phone calls, and monitoring people s searches for keywords, and using the law to their advantage.
These measurements are exaggerated and unnecessary in order to protect Americans. The government
divided the nation through this act. In order to restore the nation to its proper standing, the first step to
fix the nation should have been the Patriot Act, which was put into place after 9/1l, but it is the Patriot
Act that actually started the divide of the people and government. The job of the Patriot Act was to
preserve life and liberty of the people of the United States. The Act

The Federal Express Air Carrier Service
Abstract
Federal Express is a company that was founded on the idea from a term paper created by a Yale
Undergraduate student, Frederick Smith. Smith was able to envision a future with successful, global
air carrier services that delivered what the customer wanted. Using this vision and staying true to the
company values Smith grew his small company in the second largest global carrier. FedEx was built
through hard work and dedication to a better service. FedEx is a strong company today and continues
to deliver packages all over the world from their base in Memphis Tennessee. Keywords: FedEx,
Federal, Express, airline, carrier, services The History of the Federal Express Air Carrier Service
People are always looking for faster and more efficient ways to ship packages. Stores and suppliers
are anxious to deliver their goods faster, and customers are anxious to receive their items sooner.
When the first airplane took flight a new industry was born, air cargo. The first shipment ever
recorded was small parcel of silk sent from a department store to a customer who was pleased to
receive the package faster than previously possible. Since then, this business has developed into a
global industry providing package delivery around the world. One of the leaders in this industry is
Federal Express, now known as FedEx.
The Beginning
When Frederick Smith, a Yale University undergraduate student started thinking about the air carrier
industry, it wasn t a new concept.

Comparison Of Odysseus In The Odyssey And Oedipus The King
Greek epics are the cornerstone of Greek mythology as we know it. Epics tell of voyages and hero s
greater than you could ever imagine. From the powerful son of Zeus, Hercules, to Achilles and that
heel of his. There is a broad spectrum of stories and skill sets that these heroes posses. We all know
that some characteristics of an epic hero would include courage, devotion, loyal and justice. But never
do we touch on intelligence. Is it a trait amongst all hero s? No, however two stand out due to their
cleverness. Odysseus from Homers the Odyssey and Oedipus from Oedipus the King. Now these two
share the fact that they are intelligent, however this shows in different ways; Odysseus has a more
interpersonal sense of intelligence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But when Polyphemus s neighbors run to his aid after hearing his scream, he replies to them Nobody s
killing me . Which is comical and shows the deceptive whit of Odysseus. Later in the book upon his
return to Ithaca, Odysseus, disguised as a beggar, interacts with his former swineherd, Eumaeus. The
use of the disguise allows Odysseus to gain intel on what has become of his home and to see where
loyalty lies. By Odysseus interpersonal intelligence it allows his to work with others in a way that is
beneficial to him and eventually succeed in his ultimate goal of returning home.
Now, we ve taken a look at Odysseus intelligent skill set, lets examine Oedipus. Oedipus is a man with
a true Greek tragedy. Nonetheless he is renowned for the intelligence he s been endowed with. The
type of intelligence he has is different from Odysseus in the simple fact it is more linguistic. He has a
skill for solving riddles which were popular in Greek society. This skill in fact helps him save the city
of Thebes resulting in his reign as king. Thebes was plagued by a terrible supernatural creature known
as a Sphinx, a beast with the face of a human woman, a lion s body and wings. The only way to get rid
of this creature was to solve the riddle it gave; What is the creature that walks on four legs in the
morning, two legs in the noon and three in the evening. If you couldn t give the Sphinx an answer, you

Child s Play
Child s Play is an odd film when you think about it. Who exactly was it made for? It certainly couldn t
have been made for kids, due to the vulgar language from Chucky, so unless you are sneaking a peek
at the film or if you are like me and were allowed to watch them at a young age, the film must be for
adults. Right? I don t know, cause doesn t you think most people wouldn t have given the film a
chance when they heard the plot? A story about a child s doll coming to life and killing people? Most
people would roll their eyes and scoff at the idea of seeing it.
However, that s today and not 1988 when the film came out. People must have been more forgiving

Analysis Of Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven
In a world where assimilation is the easiest way to survive, it can be difficult to maintain two
identities. The development of characters is the foundation in which people use to grow and become
successful in their path of life. Oppression, cultural changes, and pressure to conform to the
stereotypical image of success causes discontent among cultures. Many children have an ideal image
of who they want to be, and often their parents have a conflicting view on who they would like to see
their child become. In the story Two Kinds the Narrator has a rebellious attitude towards the
aspirations of her mother. The amount of pressure placed on her and her lack of success causes
sadness in the main character since she was not able to perform the way her mother wanted. Similarly,
the main character from The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven experiences a feeling of
inferiority from the racial discrimination and lack of financial success in his life. In the story Two
Kinds the Narrator does not want to become the prodigy her mother wishes her to be. The idea of
becoming a famous actor or musician, like Shirly Temple, was a noble idea from her mother since she
only wanted to see her daughter succeed. The pressure she placed on her daughter to follow her orders
and be obedient, however, was not in the likeness of the daughter s interests. This example is evident
when the author s mother states [There are] Only two kinds of daughters, she shouted in Chinese.
Those who are obedient and those who follow their mind! Only one kind of daughter can live in this
house. (Tan 242) The fight that occurs between the narrator and her mother causes a sudden shift in
tone, which indicates that the mother no longer held the same high Johnson 2 expectation from her
daughter. Throughout the story, the main character struggles with her identity. The narrator s family

Descartes Meditations On First Philosophy
Conner Ruhl
Professor Copley
Philosophy 1000C
4 May 2015 Descartes, Meditations on First Philosophy Rene Descartes was the first great philosopher
of the modern era, He had a new approach which was focused on scientific and mathematical truths.
Descartes came to reject the scholastic tradition, one of which he was educated, due to his pursuit of
mathematical and scientific truth. Much of Descartes work was done to secure advancement of human
knowledge through the use of the natural sciences. His radical and unorthodox philosophy went
against the church but Descartes managed to cautiously express his radical work in its entirety. In
Descartes Meditations he focuses on universal truths and their proof of existence. In Meditation 5,
Descartes speaks about his proofs of mathematical truths and the existence of god. There are 3 parts
that he focuses on in his Meditation 5 and they are the distinction between fabricated and innate
things, the second proof of gods existence, and his overcoming of the origins argument and recovering
mathematical knowledge.
Descartes speaks about the distinction between innate and fabricated things. An innate thing is defined
as something natural. Fabricated on the other hand is defined as something constructed or
manufactured. According to Descartes, innate ideas have a determinate nature, essence, or form which
is unchangeable and eternal. He uses the example of a triangle to provide proof of this. He points out

The World Of The Gospels A Miracle
Miracle stories were accepted by ancient people as possible. The divine interacted with human kind.
This contrasts with the contemporary scepticism about the sacred or the possibility of miracles. In the
light of scientific, data driven, technological preoccupation, miracles seem to be unnecessary. The gap
between humankind and the divine has widened to the point of being irrelevant, unnecessary or non
existent. However, in the world of the gospels a miracle was anything that caused people to wonder
(Latin miraculum to wonder; mirari to wonder at) or be in awe. According to John Meier (A marginal
Jew, Vol 2:512) a miracle is an unusual startling or extraordinary event that is in principle perceivable
by any interested and fair minded observer, and event that finds no reasonable explanation in human
abilities or in other known forces that operate in our world of time and space and an event that is the
result of a special act of God, doing what no human power can do . There are two elements to a
miracle one which causes wonder, one that is extraordinary phenomenon that is inexplicable in terms
of familiar, everyday causation. This is ascribe to a superhuman force. What demarcates the
extraordinary varies from people to people, culture to culture and age to age.
In the NT miracle accounts are not unique in the Greco Roman world. What was distinguishable in
their reference to the divine; they are attributed not to deities in a polytheism but to the one God of the

How Skateboards Invented
So this is my topic and this is my research for how skateboards have advanced through my words
1950s This was the earliest known advent of what we would recognize as traditional skateboarding,
beginning in California, where surfers invented a plank on wheels to simulate surfing on land.
According to Wikipedia, the first skateboards were originally manufactured for surfers to use when
they weren t in the water. Crafted out of square wooden boards with a set of skate wheels from roller
skates, Wikipedia notes that skateboarding was originally denoted sidewalk surfing and early skaters
emulated surfing style and maneuvers, and performed barefoot. 1970s It took a new type of wheel to

Sun Falcon was celebrated by lots of ancient Americans. He was buried in Cahokia during rituals by
the Cahokians. He was buried looking up toward the live giving sunlight. Falcon was buried in the

My soon to be boyfriend, Daiwan is my mentor. He s about 5 10 and brownskin. He has chinky eyes,
just like me and a beautiful smile. He s technically 11 months older than me, but he s thirsty to say a

Daiwan is more than a mentor to me, he s kind of my inspiration. I wouldn t say he had a terrible
childhood but he been through stuff other kids would not have lived through. Daiwan brother was

Why rehash and put on the tube the negativity of life for every recurring commemoration? It s
important to know what happened and remember the outcomes in our hearts, then put it to rest. Why
keep it alive and let the wounds keep on burning? Showing, and talking about it, keeps it alive and as
such, is an inspiration for the weak minds. We saw and heard the mimicking of those saddening
episodes multiplying, instead than diminishing, not to mention the special interest that lies behind the
feeding of the pain, orchestrated for the money that such recurrence can generate. What can be
targeted as a negative impact shouldn t be kept alive, but replaced with a positive, for a positive
inspiration as a simple and healthy equation. They say we have to remember the negative that was

ours. We are wasting so much time, we are falling short in the progress of formulating a better world.

Review Of Using Constructionism Learning Theory
By using constructionism learning theory, the classes of the data system for JCTS can be divided into
four categories:
Non human resource (Learning resources): many n part relationships are identified in the EF (Entity
Framework) database. o Learning Objects metadata: Job Techniques. One Technique is one job
competency, which is the objective of learning. o Learning Activities: These Activities can be learning
activities identified for achieving a particular job Technique during a job form creation, and also the
instructional activities applied by the trainee in the job form submitted.

Windows authentications are assigned to the users account which makes the system more secure. Role
Based Access Control (RBAC) is used to control the access of data by different roles of users. For
example: an engineer cannot edit a particular job Technique after logging into the system, although an
administrator has the ability to CRUD (create, read, update and delete) any job Technique in the
system.
Technically, JCTS is based on B/S structure and programmed by ASP.NET technology. All kinds of
database access are done by using EF to call SQL Server stored procedures with ADO.NET
technology. The user web interface is developed by razor html page style and colour scheme is
controlled by Bootstrap. Web interaction is programmed by jQuery. The system operation is stable and
reliable, basically achieved all design features.
3.3 Implementation
The web based job competency tracking application JCTS is built on 3 Tier arch by using ASP.NET
MVC, jQuery, Bootstrap, C#.NET, Entity Framework and Microsoft SQL Server. Because of the
limitation of length, we presents only one activity diagram for the class Activity as an example to
show how MVC is implemented in the code source of JCTS. Figure 13 Activity Diagram for the class

Industrialization Of The Second Industrial Revolution
The Second Industrial Revolution, which reached its peak during 1870 to 1914, marked a significant
turning point in American history. Before this era of progression and industrial excellence, America
was on the verge of expansion like never before. From the vast amounts of land gained through the
Annexation of Texas in 1845, the British retreating from Oregon in 1846, and the Mexican cession of
Southwest territory guaranteed by the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo of 1848, (Engelman) America was
able to expand their territory and access new resources. Industrialization and factory growth in the
North was just budding and beginning to create economic success, along with spurring a rise of

Other plentiful resources include coal, iron, oil, and ore (Pacheco). The utilization of these resources
led to a variety of new inventions. Using iron, one valuable invention that was created to make
agriculture more efficient was the iron bladed plow, created by Jethro Wood in 1819, that could plow
through all types of fields (Alchin). Perhaps the most important advancement was the development of
railroads, such as between 1863 and 1869 when the first transcontinental railroad was built using iron.
This railroad linked the east and west the Atlantic to the Pacific which was a true phenomenon during
this time (Alchin). Both these revolutionary creations, the bladed plow and the transcontinental
railroad, among many others, allowed the economy to prosper, due to the use of the natural resources.
The railroad increased efficiency and wealth for citizens nationwide, as this opened up new markets
for farmers, industrialists, and bankers who could now bring crops and cotton from the Mississippi
River Valley, wheat in the Midwest, and manufactured goods in upstate New York into a global market
based on credit (Engelman). Another significant reason why our economy prospered during this
revolution was the expanding labor force available to work in factories to mass produce products. The
opportunity to work in industrial factories attracted millions around the world, which lead to a
population explosion within cities, as almost 11

Use of Violence as the Main Reason for Mussolini s Consolidation of Power from 1922 1928
Introduction
· Several reasons why Mussolini was able to consolidate his power between 1922 and 1928, such as
Mussolini?s actions and strategy, co operation from the elite and the failure of his opposition.
· However, I believe the most significant reason was the use of violence.
Paragraph 1: Use of Violence
· July 1923: The Chamber, surrounded by Blackshirts, passed the Acerbo Law. This said that the party

Informative Essay On French Podle
Come with me as I take a look at the Wonderful World of Poodles.
History
Although the national breed of France, the Poodle actually originated in Germany where it was used
as a water retriever. Many believe the name Pudel comes from the German word pudel which means
one who plays in water.
In fact, the famous Poodle Clip was created by hunters to help the breed swim faster and more
efficiently. The clip was not created as a decorative element. It was created to protect certain vital
organs and joints of the breed in cold water.
The term French Poodle comes from France s capitalization of the breed s intelligence, trainability and

The Poodle is an exceptionally intelligent dog that excels in obedience training. Its intelligence and
ability to learn makes it one of the most popular breeds in the world. It is considered one of the easiest
breeds to train. Also, its hypoallergenic coat makes it a favorite amongst owners. It does not shed, but
does require grooming on a regular basis. The breed adapts well to any living conditions, making it an
ideal pet for apartments. However, it is an active dog and does require daily exercise.
The Poodle carries itself proudly and has a very distinct air of dignity. The word elegant is most often
used to describe the breed. The Poodle is known to be shy, but sharp at the same time. Poodles are
reserved with strangers and unless trained at an early age, can bark excessively.
The Standard Poodle (Caniche, Barbone, Chien Canne)
The Standard Poodle is considered to be a large dog of high intelligence and trainability. Elegant,
strong and good natured, it makes an excellent family dog. It has a thick, soft, curly coat that does not

In chapter four, Stein discusses how Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin. In
the beginning of the chapter he shows where this idea comes from in the bible (p.63 64). After
showing his readers where the idea that Jesus was born of a virgin, he goes on to say who does and
does not believe this. The critical views of this contradict what is believed by Christians (p. 64 65). He
discusses why Pagans and Jews do not believe that Jesus was born of a virgin Mary (p. 65). He then
goes on to tell the story of the birth of Jesus (p. 73). How Joseph took Mary to Bethlehem, while there
she gave birth to Jesus in a stable, and how wise men came to see Jesus (p. 73 78). He concludes the
chapter by defending the Christian belief of Jesus being born of a virgin (p. 78). All of the information
provided in chapter four is important because the birth of Jesus, of course, plays a huge role in the
entire book because it is discussing the life of Jesus. Although the birth of Jesus might be
controversial, no matter how Jesus was conceived he still lived and breathed and walked the earth.
Chapter four plays a huge role in the book as an entirety because it is the beginning of the life of

He begins by discussing the normalcy of Jesus young life (p. 81). He refers to a story in Luke and

2 In this sense, the role of the pre Cide Hamete deflationist character of Cervantes s authorship of/in
Don Quixote I II as hinted at in the late stages of this prologue and subsequently throughout the book,
is to be understood as part of his strategy to insists on the importance of linguistic self awareness
through the deployment of the self reflective narrative technique, e.g. by warning us that the poems of
praise featuring in his book are counterfeit, but including them nevertheless.
3 Born in 1547, he struggled throughout his entire life, plus upon his enrollment as a soldier, he was
badly wounded in The Battle of Lepanto, his subsequent capture by the Turks earning him a five year
period of imprisonment, not to mention that his request to emigrate to America was twice turned down
and he lived in really precarious conditions during his writing of Don Quixote Part I.
4 This approach is much satirized by Cervantes in Los baños de Argel, La Gran Sultana, La Eleccion
de los Alcaldes de Aganzo (1615) and of course, Don Quixote I II. As Zizek claims, what bothers us in

Everything was so confusing to a second grade girl in an unfair world.
Olivia and her friends talked to Mrs. Lark, We don t deserve this, it s like we are forgotten, broken off

United States Of The Gulf Cooperation Council ( Gcc )
Qatar and other states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) repeatedly face international critique
regarding their treatment of migrant workers in construction and household services. Non
governmental organizations (NGOs) and international organizations (IOs) are reporting abusive and
unsafe working and living conditions while simultaneously trying to influence and mediate between
Gulf Council Cooperation (GCC) governments, migrant workers, and civil society. GCC governments
are attempting to implement labor policies to promote the hiring of local workers; this would reduce
the supply of foreign labor, and possibly ensure adequate treatment of local workers.
This reformation is dependent on the role of international government and non governmental agencies,
and the possibility for these agencies to change local policies. This is taken in the context of growing
global and local awareness about migrant workers and fundamental human rights abuses, including
the human trafficking and forced labor currently occurring within Qatar s migrant worker population.
International migration today is closely associated with state sovereignty. States would engage in
international cooperation through a wide range of transnational issues, but when it comes to
immigrants and refugees, nation states claim that the sovereign right to control one s own boarders to
be the primary responsibility (Sasson 1996). Even if cooperation were recognized as useful or

Brad Manner wrote this persuasive essay for his freshman composition course, where he shared his
unique relationship with his father, as the two bonded through ritualistic father son competitive arm
wrestling. His father s arm symbolizes the strength and love he has for his son. However, as the story

security. Manner himself said, Whenever I am near him I am unafraid, knowing his arms are ready to

In the mid nineteenth century women s choices were severely limited; their lives were slightly better
than those of slaves. They were expected to obey men unquestionably. This essay will focus on Ruskin
s Sesame and Lilies and J. S. Mill s The Subjection of Women; paying particular attention to the
representation of chivalry in general and gender relations and equality in specific. The essay will

women; nor treat them as jewelry putting them in a safe place to protect them from dangers. In both
cases, women would be objectified and valued only their beauty. For Mill, this is not the right way to

A Rose For Emily Grierson s Life Essay
Being that I am an only child, I am very family oriented. When I was young, I lost my grandfather to
esophageal cancer. As a result, I shut everyone out of my life, so I would not get close to anyone and
have them taken away from me as well. The protagonist, Emily Grierson, in the short story A Rose for
Emily, has shut everyone out of her life due to the death of her loved one, just as I did. Crystal s essay,
One for us... describes how Grierson s community would not accept her private life, and they turn her
personal life into a public conversation. According to Willow D. Crystal, William Faulkner s A Rose
for Emily suggests the relationship between private and public can have an effect on one s life. I agree,
but I would add that the power of death may lead to insanity. I agree with Crystal s argument that
Grierson s community shows no separation between the private and public life regarding Emily
Grierson s life. For example, as stated in One for us... , Miss Emily s house begins to emit an
unpleasant smell, the town officials decide to solve the problem by dusting her property with lime

How Have Castles Changed Over Time
Castles are huge, strong houses, where kings and lords once lived with their families, soldiers and
servants. They were built to provide safety from attack and to display the owner s wealth. The first
proper castles were built in England after the Norman Conquest in 1066. They were introduced by
William the Conqueror, when he invaded England from his homeland in France. Castle designs have
changed over history. This is because of changes in technology over time. The first castles were
simply mounds of earth, and medieval castle designs improved on these basics adding ditches in the
Bailey design, which is the name given to the lay out of the castle. In Goodrich Castle the great hall

during wars. As a development of Stone Keep castles, concentric castles were built from 1250
onwards. The concentric design was copied from the castles in the Middle East; knowledge and
understanding of design and structure came into England through returning crusaders (soldiers) during
the 1200 s.
The castles were built to demonstrate the strong bond between the King and his nobility. They were
seen as a reflection of a more stable and secure society with respect for law and the authority of the
government.
The castle was owned by many rich men. In 1086 the castle was owned by Godric Mappestone. In
1204 king John gave Goodrich castle to William Marshall, he built towers and more walls. Then the

  • 3. Viewpoints On Ageism In the past one hundred years, the human life expectancy has increased by thirty years. This trend continues to rise (Hooyman Kiyak, 2018). The Privacy Of The National Security In an age of what appears to be increasing insecurity, Americans have to make a choice between being secure and maintaining civil liberties, or leaving it up to the government to decide. The privacy of Americans should be taken into more consideration when using surveillance and other methods to watch the people. Privacy today faces growing threats from a developing surveillance apparatus that is repeatedly justified in the name of the national security. Security is privileged over values, such as civil liberties after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Due to this horrendous event, the national government commenced its surveillance attack in hopes of stopping another terrorist outbreak from happening, but it only created a divide within the American people. The government is trying to rebuild the security that was lost ( Money ). Their plan involves increasing the surveillance, listening to phone calls, and monitoring people s searches for keywords, and using the law to their advantage. These measurements are exaggerated and unnecessary in order to protect Americans. The government divided the nation through this act. In order to restore the nation to its proper standing, the first step to fix the nation should have been the Patriot Act, which was put into place after 9/1l, but it is the Patriot Act that actually started the divide of the people and government. • 10. Analysis Of Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven In a world where assimilation is the easiest way to survive, it can be difficult to maintain two identities. The development of characters is the foundation in which people use to grow and become successful in their path of life. Oppression, cultural changes, and pressure to conform to the stereotypical image of success causes discontent among cultures. Many children have an ideal image of who they want to be, and often their parents have a conflicting view on who they would like to see their child become. In the story Two Kinds the Narrator has a rebellious attitude towards the aspirations of her mother. The amount of pressure placed on her and her lack of success causes sadness in the main character since she was not able to perform the way her mother wanted. Similarly, the main character from The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven experiences a feeling of inferiority from the racial discrimination and lack of financial success in his life. In the story Two Kinds the Narrator does not want to become the prodigy her mother wishes her to be. The idea of becoming a famous actor or musician, like Shirly Temple, was a noble idea from her mother since she only wanted to see her daughter succeed. The pressure she placed on her daughter to follow her orders and be obedient, however, was not in the likeness of the daughter s interests. This example is evident when the author s mother states [There are] Only two kinds of daughters, she shouted in Chinese. Those who are obedient and those who follow their mind! Only one kind of daughter can live in this house. (Tan 242) The fight that occurs between the narrator and her mother causes a sudden shift in tone, which indicates that the mother no longer held the same high Johnson 2 expectation from her daughter. Descartes came to reject the scholastic tradition, one of which he was educated, due to his pursuit of mathematical and scientific truth. Much of Descartes work was done to secure advancement of human knowledge through the use of the natural sciences. His radical and unorthodox philosophy went against the church but Descartes managed to cautiously express his radical work in its entirety. In Descartes Meditations he focuses on universal truths and their proof of existence. In Meditation 5, Descartes speaks about his proofs of mathematical truths and the existence of god. There are 3 parts that he focuses on in his Meditation 5 and they are the distinction between fabricated and innate things, the second proof of gods existence, and his overcoming of the origins argument and recovering mathematical knowledge. Descartes speaks about the distinction between innate and fabricated things. An innate thing is defined as something natural. Fabricated on the other hand is defined as something constructed or manufactured. According to Descartes, innate ideas have a determinate nature, essence, or form which is unchangeable and eternal. • 13. The World Of The Gospels A Miracle Miracle stories were accepted by ancient people as possible. The divine interacted with human kind. This contrasts with the contemporary scepticism about the sacred or the possibility of miracles. In the light of scientific, data driven, technological preoccupation, miracles seem to be unnecessary. The gap between humankind and the divine has widened to the point of being irrelevant, unnecessary or non existent. However, in the world of the gospels a miracle was anything that caused people to wonder (Latin miraculum to wonder; mirari to wonder at) or be in awe. According to John Meier (A marginal Jew, Vol 2:512) a miracle is an unusual startling or extraordinary event that is in principle perceivable by any interested and fair minded observer, and event that finds no reasonable explanation in human abilities or in other known forces that operate in our world of time and space and an event that is the result of a special act of God, doing what no human power can do . There are two elements to a miracle one which causes wonder, one that is extraordinary phenomenon that is inexplicable in terms of familiar, everyday causation. This is ascribe to a superhuman force. What demarcates the extraordinary varies from people to people, culture to culture and age to age. In the NT miracle accounts are not unique in the Greco Roman world. In the latest Tomb Raider game she is attractive, realistically proportioned, properly clothed and is more human like which makes her an acceptable sexualisation because she s not objectified. Sexism in the Gaming Industry For 20 years the industry s attitude was women don t play video games , although they are slowly changing their attitude because 48% of gamers are in fact female, there is still major sexism in the industry that remains. An indie female game developer Zoe Quinn, was trying to release her game Depression Quest , an interactive fiction game where you play as someone living with depression, on to Stream Greenlight. Evidently her gender, or her desire to design game, or some combination of the two caused her to receive men dialling her number to spout rape threats, sexist comments and telling her to kill herself. The abuse got so bad that Zoe had to change her phone number. She eventually took the game down because she couldn t handle the abuse anymore. She then in the long run decided to try Greenlight again, she stated that, I thought since the game got into [International independent game ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. United States Of The Gulf Cooperation Council ( Gcc ) Qatar and other states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) repeatedly face international critique regarding their treatment of migrant workers in construction and household services. Non governmental organizations (NGOs) and international organizations (IOs) are reporting abusive and unsafe working and living conditions while simultaneously trying to influence and mediate between Gulf Council Cooperation (GCC) governments, migrant workers, and civil society. GCC governments are attempting to implement labor policies to promote the hiring of local workers; this would reduce the supply of foreign labor, and possibly ensure adequate treatment of local workers. This reformation is dependent on the role of international government and non governmental agencies, and the possibility for these agencies to change local policies. This is taken in the context of growing global and local awareness about migrant workers and fundamental human rights abuses, including the human trafficking and forced labor currently occurring within Qatar s migrant worker population. International migration today is closely associated with state sovereignty. States would engage in international cooperation through a wide range of transnational issues, but when it comes to immigrants and refugees, nation states claim that the sovereign right to control one s own boarders to be the primary responsibility (Sasson 1996). Even if cooperation were recognized as useful or necessary, in properly managing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Manner realized that the roles between he and his father were beginning to change. His father s arms were once a symbol of his father s strength, love, and security. Manner himself said, Whenever I am near him I am unafraid, knowing his arms are ready to catch me and keep me safe , (170). This essay will focus on Ruskin s Sesame and Lilies and J. S. Mill s The Subjection of Women; paying particular attention to the representation of chivalry in general and gender relations and equality in specific. The essay will demonstrate Ruskin and Mill s contrasting positions, demonstrating that Ruskin presents chivalry favorably as a positive concept. For Mill, treating women in a good way is the mark of civilization. At first, this statement seems poorly considered as Mill does not define what he means by good treatment. However, he eventually explains that it does not mean to idealize or worship women; nor treat them as jewelry putting them in a safe place to protect them from dangers. In both cases, women would be objectified and valued only their beauty. • 38. A Rose For Emily Grierson s Life Essay Being that I am an only child, I am very family oriented. When I was young, I lost my grandfather to esophageal cancer. As a result, I shut everyone out of my life, so I would not get close to anyone and have them taken away from me as well. The protagonist, Emily Grierson, in the short story A Rose for Emily, has shut everyone out of her life due to the death of her loved one, just as I did. Crystal s essay, One for us... describes how Grierson s community would not accept her private life, and they turn her personal life into a public conversation. According to Willow D. Crystal, William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily suggests the relationship between private and public can have an effect on one s life. I agree, but I would add that the power of death may lead to insanity. I agree with Crystal s argument that Grierson s community shows no separation between the private and public life regarding Emily Grierson s life. For example, as stated in One for us... , Miss Emily s house begins to emit an unpleasant smell, the town officials decide to solve the problem by dusting her property with lime (792). This intrusion reveals that the town s officials have no respect for Grierson s personal life. To show that the officials respect her privacy, they should have inquired about how they could assist with containing the odor, rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. How Have Castles Changed Over Time Castles are huge, strong houses, where kings and lords once lived with their families, soldiers and servants. They were built to provide safety from attack and to display the owner s wealth. The first proper castles were built in England after the Norman Conquest in 1066. They were introduced by William the Conqueror, when he invaded England from his homeland in France. Castle designs have changed over history. This is because of changes in technology over time. The first castles were simply mounds of earth, and medieval castle designs improved on these basics adding ditches in the Bailey design, which is the name given to the lay out of the castle. In Goodrich Castle the great hall was an important status symbol. Its cheer size and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a development of Stone Keep castles, concentric castles were built from 1250 onwards. The concentric design was copied from the castles in the Middle East; knowledge and understanding of design and structure came into England through returning crusaders (soldiers) during the 1200 s. The castles were built to demonstrate the strong bond between the King and his nobility. They were seen as a reflection of a more stable and secure society with respect for law and the authority of the government. The castle was owned by many rich men. • 40. Cinderella 1950 The ability to dream is magical in itself. A girl often plays the game of, Happily ever after, where she goes to a ball and falls madly in love with the prince. Disney first captured this idea in the film Cinderella in 1950. One fact that seemed to bother some viewers was that the destined couple met and fell in love at first sight. It is perfectly plausible, but somewhat unrealistic. A new adaptation of the basic story of Cinderella has taken this concern and altered how they met to meeting in the woods days before the ball.
