Essay An Analysis of Ethical Dilemma of International...
Adoption boundaries have steadily extended since the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War,
where many children became orphans. As a response to them winners, especially Americans, started to
adopt children from the war torn countries (Wilkinson 1995, 174). Thus, it was a start point for
international adoption. Intercountry (international or transnational) adoption is defined as adoption,
where child is removed to the adoptees country. In recent times motives to adopt internationally are
explained as charity of wealthier and more developed nations, a wish to help countries, which are
fighting with economic problems, and also insufficient numbers of babies within the country. The rate
of international adoption increased dramatically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In past years a rate of international adoption increased by approximately 16% from 1998 to 2007
(Selman 2009, 576). Figure 1 shows the rate of international adoption increased dramatically from
approximately 32000 to 45000 children in 1998 2004 years; then it has started to decrease. Such big
numbers in the rate of international adoption and popularity of it raises more and more positive and
negative concerns. The whole society started to pay more attention to it, asking questions and raising
ethical dilemma of international adoption. The importance of this topic is significant, since children
should be considered as the most precious parts of every nation. Country s well being includes not
only economic stability and military force, but children s happiness as well. Especially the future and
happiness of abandoned children depends on international adoption. Accordingly, taking into account
rate of intercountry adoption and its current problems the topic is relevant nowadays. Figure 1: Trends
in intercountry adoptions to 23 receiving countries; top five receiving countries; USA and Europe,
1998 2007
(Selman 2009, 578)
The first argument against international adoption is that it is a way to traffic children. The procedure
of international adoption includes adoption fees, which are often in average ten thousand dollars;

Analysis of The Woman Who Walked into Doors by Roddy Doyle
The Woman Who Walked Into Doors is a novel written by Roddy Doyle, set in Ireland in the early
1990s. This story combines love and violence and shows how the two can go together in one marriage.
The story is written like a diary of Paula Spencer s good and bad memories in her life and gives the
reader the impression that Paula is sharing her life story with us and she is also narrating her life as we
read.
The story begins with a prison guard arriving at Mrs Spencer s door to give Paula the unfortunate
news that her husband, Charlo has died. Then Paula explains the marital status between her and her
husband, which is that they are separated. She talks of their wedding, ... Show more content on

She was married to Charles, better known as Charlo for eighteen years and has four children, Nicola
aged eighteen, John Paul aged sixteen, Leanne aged twelve and Jack aged five and is thirty nine years
of age herself. Her fifth child died during pregnancy, no thanks to the brutal attacks she experienced.
She has become a widow, and before her husband s death, was separated from him. Her father died of
cancer. She has three sisters, one of which is dead and three brothers. Her mother is alive and well.
Paula is an alcoholic and blames it on Charlo because of the horrendous way he treated her. To try and
block this out she started drinking heavily. She fell deeper and deeper into the grip of alcoholism. She
found it made her forget about reality and often made her feel calmer. However, she never drank until
her children were in bed, thus sparing them the heartache of seeing their mother in such a drunken
state. She works as a cleaner, mainly in houses and she cleans an office building on Tuesdays. She
hides her alcohol in the shed and throws the key into the garden until she needs it at night when she
will go and find it. She is very proud of her children because they have helped her survive through the
harder times. Her only main concern is the welfare of her children. She tells us that her favourite child
is Jack, the youngest. Her oldest son, John Paul is living elsewhere and by the time he reaches sixteen,

Radio Raheem As A Role Model
When people think of a role model the first thing that comes to mind is, how is this person successful?
or what kind of achievements have they made in their lifetime. Radio Raheem was known as an
aggressor in the entire movie Do the Right Thing . To the kids he was a man who always walked
around playing loud music and did nothing else. Radio Raheem is not and could never be a role model
in his time because he never achieved a goal; something that people remembered him for. Not for just
his death.
Role models are someone you would want your child to learn from. Someone you would want to be

Comparison Of Friendship Between Of Mice And Men
Friendship from Of Mice and Men and Friendship In an Age of Economics
In the modern age friendship comes in many different shapes and sizes. There s the good and there s
the bad. You might even find some types of friendships surprising, for example an entrepreneurial
relationship . In the book Of Mice and Men Lennie and George are friends, but not very good friends.
George is unfortunately friends with Lennie for the wrong reasons.
Friendship, according to Aristotle there are 3 definitions of friendship. Friendship of Utility, thus
friends whose affection is based on utility do not love each other in themselves, but in so far as some
benefit accrues to them from each other. Friendship of Pleasure, And similarly with those whose
friendship is based on pleasure: for instance, we enjoy the society of witty people not because of what
they are in themselves, but because they are agreeable to us. Friendship of the Good. The perfect form
of friendship is that between the good, and those who resemble each other in virtue. For these friends
wish each alike the other s good in respect of their goodness, and they are good in themselves; but it is
those who wish the good of their friends for their friends sake who are friends in the fullest sense,
since they love each other for themselves and not accidentally. Hence the ... Show more content on

Why People Join Cults Analysis
Groups such as the Masons, the Church of Scientology, and political parties can be considered cults
that share different ideologies. In addition, cults have the ability to influence society in terms of
changing an individual s perspective on certain things. Furthermore, people seem to show a strong
interest in the mysteries behind cults despite the dangerous aspect of joining a cult. Over the years, the
number of individuals joining cults has increased. To understand this a bit more, Dr. Adrian Furnham
wrote an article on Psychology Today titled Why Do People Join Cults? In the article, Dr. Furnham
argues the motives behind joining a cult, the different characteristics of a cult, and the misconceptions
that individuals have in their initial encounter with a cult.
Dr. Furnham analyses the reasons why individuals join cults. In his initial assessment, he argues that
certain benefits that cults can offer such as connections, an identity, and a chance to contribute.
Throughout his article, Dr. Furnham questions if the motives are similar to groups such as Al Qaeda,
Hamas, or the Order of the Solar Temple He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, these cults attempt to maintain psychological and physical dependence on their members
through mind controlling tactics. Dr. Furnham argues that members are taught to remove both
individualistic and critical thinking similar to how the army breaks and rebuilds soldiers. He goes as
far as to assert that the mind control techniques are no different than those of the army, religions,
prisons, or organizations. (Furnham, 2014) As a consequence, many members are constantly being
exploited by the organization in order to achieve the goals of the leader. Ultimately, these groups will
use physical and psychological harm, to hurt members, families, friends, and the community. (

injuries.
The first thing you need to do if you are injured is get proper medical treatment. After you have

need to follow proper procedures in accordance with Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. All on the
job injury claims then go through the WSIB,(Workplace Safety and Insurance Board). You can find
more information about WSIB here http://www.wsib.on.ca. Remember to report every injury, no

According to a previous study conducted by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust in the
United Kingdom, which is part of the country s National Health Service, patients who used the d Nav
service had a substantial decrease in their average blood sugar levels (HbA1c); furthermore, there was
a significant reduction in the costs associated with diabetic care during the 12 months of the study.
Ann Baker is Blue Cross/Blue Shield s vice president of wellness and care management: She states
that BC/BS evaluated the data from the United Kingdom study and they are eager to explore the
potential d Nav has in reference to patient care and cost reductions for their members in Michigan who
have type 2 diabetes. Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan is the first health plan within the U.S. to

A Summary Of Phaseolus
Abstract
The sclerenchyma ring in the stem of Phaseolus lunatus, commonly known as lima bean, was
measured in relation to the wavelength of light they were grown in (650, 475 nm). It was hypothesized
that wavelength of light affects plant growth. It was predicted that plants grown when exposed to red
light (650 nm) would grow taller and therefore have thicker sclerenchyma cell rings . The results of
the t test failed to support both the hypothesis and prediction (P = 0.444599). When compared to other
studies, this experiment appears to have skewed data; therefore, although the hypothesis was rejected,
there is still evidence supporting the concept of a full spectrum of light is essential for proper plant
development.

This seems to go against our findings being that blue light does not stimulate gibberellin production
enough that it would create a noticeable difference and therefore not have a height difference. This
suggest that the higher energy blue light might simply be received better by the plants in his study
allowing for an increase in energy production allowing more growth. It is possible that our hypothesis
was rejected due to human error, as when estimating the space the sclerenchyma tissue took up or
even a mechanical over sight such as a low wattage bulbs simulating growth in low light conditions.
That being said it was found that plants grown in low light conditions would have a smaller mass:
length ratio than those grown in a full spectrum (Magda et al. 2006). This would actual support our
findings for the specified conditions being that even if a plant did grow taller it may not develop more
tissue because of the low light

Riordan Manufacturing s Implementation Stage
Riordan Manufacturing s implementation stage is going to take a group effort. To combine talents
from many different fields to complete this stage of the project effectively. This implementation will
rely on the human resources department and the information technology departments. We included
both departments in the design and development processes.
The developers have chosen a software package that was designed by Microsoft to implement the
Riordan HRIS. The decision was largely pushed due to the fact that Riordan current OS is the
Windows platform. Our team will be implementing the Microsoft base software, which will
automatically create a new database on the MySql.
Using the waterfall approach the system developers will be able to focus on one piece of the system
and move on each part separately. This will give the design team more time to focus on small sections
of the new coding. Moving from one stage to the next means that each step has been checked
thoroughly and is completed.
According to Implementation Phase Recommendations (2014), During the testing phase, these test
cases are implemented, automated, and initially executed to verify that, as various parts of the system
reach code complete, testing is ready to verify performance. In addition, anticipate running the
verification tests many times during a test pass as performance bottlenecks are identified and fixes
provided. Having the tests automated makes it easier, faster, and more consistent to re run

Kalam Cosmological Argument
Among various theories supporting the existence of God, cosmological arguments are strongest. This
concept suggests that the existence of the universe has reason (Davies 48). Cosmological arguments
consider how the universe came into existence. The kalam cosmological argument supports the theory
that the universe could not have commenced by itself (Davies 49).
Design arguments are weakest when asserting that the existence of God is attributable to
characteristics displayed by the universe. Aquinas concluded that objects without knowledge cannot
have goals unless a higher power is directing them (Davies 76). Davies uses an example of acorns
consistently growing into oak trees to support this statement (76). However, David Hume suggests that
order in the universe could easily be the result of chance (Davies 79). ... Show more content on

Design arguments are less persuasive, because the regularity we experience in the universe could be
due to chance (Davies 79).
There are some weak points in cosmological arguments, however. One major weakness is that there is
no way to prove the existence of the universe has a cause. For example, David Hume believes that if
we are capable of imagining a universe without cause, then it is possible that the universe could have
begun without reason (Davies 50). Another argument states that the universe is infinite, and if that is
the case, then every event has a predecessor. This would mean that there was no beginning of the
universe (Davies 53).
There are few strengths in design arguments with the exception of having an explanation for the
mundane occurrences of life. While I find design arguments intriguing, I cannot believe that inanimate
objects receive instruction from a godly entity. Cosmological arguments are more plausible, as it is not
difficult to accept the theory that the universe came into existence because of

Analysis Of Chickamagua By Ambrose Bierce
In the short story Chickamagua written by Ambrose Bierce, the author follows a young six year old
boy with no name and a hearing and speech impediment s journey throughout the mist of an ongoing
dreadful war. Ambrose describes and narrates the story in an omniscient third person view, which is
important to note because he is partially influenced by his own experiences of war; specially the Civil
War. The central idea and theme being portrayed in this story is how the destruction and chaos of war
destroys this young adolescence s innocence by being introduced to war first hand. To characterize
and depict this, Ambrose uses literary elements such as imagery and symbolism to further his points.
He really wants to drive home how this boy s romanticism for war can be turned upside down,
especially when directly affected by war. Ambrose puts the boy s disconnection with reality into
perspective by initially describing him as a child [who] strayed away from its rude home in a small
field and entered a forest unobserved and as someone who in bodies his ancestors thirst for discovery
and conquest , alluding to the fact that he is carelessly determined to explore (405). This irresponsible
and carefree attitude sets the tone for how the boy responds to war first hand. As the story progresses
further, the boy ends up falling asleep in the woods and later wakes up too an army marching forward
towards battle. The boy naively sees this as a game and joins in, only to experience the

Journey Towards the Dark Side In Greasy Lake, T. Coraghessan Boyle uses setting to portray the
theme of the journey that one goes on to transition from childhood to adulthood. At the beginning of
the short story, greasy lake was seen as this fun place that bad guys went to hangout. They smoked

The story takes place in the 1960s. During this time, there was a really lot of controversy in the United
States involving war. The Vietnam War was was at its peak. The war began in 1955 and did not end
until 1975. Many of the young men went into the war the same way that the narrator and his friends
went to greasy lake. They thought they were perceived as bad and brave. Just as the narrator and his
friends headed to greasy lake, they were unsure of what the night was going to bring. They
experienced and saw things that they were not prepared for. In a way, the narrator s car resembles the
war as well. The car belonged to his parents. He took the car out unharmed, and in good condition. He
brought it home broken and tattered. The car resembles the boys who went off the the war. The
narrator would not have ended up in the situation he was in if he did not lose the keys to the car.
Something as insignificant as misplacing a set of keys changed his life. Just as something insignificant
started the war. Almost every person has experienced a greasy lake at some point or another. Driving
around with a car full of friends on a Friday night is certainly not a new tradition for young people.

Animal Experimentation Research
Imagine yourself strapped to a table while strangers with cold hands pry open your eyes to drop a
burning liquid onto your pupils, all while poking and prodding your limbs. This kind of needless
torture happens hundreds of times every day as scientists try to find answers to scientific questions,
only to find out that all of the pain and suffering was all for nothing. Animal dissection has a long
history that dates back to the Stone Age, but did not gain traction until the seventeenth century. At this
time, English physician William Harvey managed to demonstrate circulation of blood using animals
and then applied it to humans showing the value of vivisection for accurately illustrating physiology

According to NEAV, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has noted that 92 percent of all drugs
that are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests fail in human trials because they don t work or

trials, half of them must be relabeled to account for unforeseen side effects on human subjects. The
ramifications of these failing experiments cost companies millions of dollars. Furthermore, PETA
explains that there are several drugs that are essential to human medicine that react quite negatively in
animals. For example, aspirin kills cats and causes birth defects in several other animals including
dogs and monkeys. If that drug had first been tested on cats, it never would have reached the market
and provided the extensive relief it has to date. Also, animals in laboratories to be experimented upon
are known to display understandably stressed behavior which jeopardizes the accuracy and credibility
of the results. For example, in a NewScientist article by Ann Baldwin, the dangers of anxious animals
are explained. The report writes that rats housed in such conditions (laboratories) show an
inflammatory response in their intestines accompanied by leaky blood vessels. The article proceeds to
examine the outcome of that response (along with others) and

challenged for a spider licking her lips, it is not a sexual act. Even if it was sexual, which it isn t, kids
wouldn t understand it. Lastly, there is the argument that James is too disobedient, and would provide
a bad role model for kids. The book is teaching kids to get out of an abusive relationship. It might be
hard for kids to hear about an abused kid, but unfortunately, for some kids, it is a reality. And they
should learn to get out of or report abuse. Additionally, James is a great role model, he is brave, smart,

The start of probation can be linked to England s criminal law. During Henry VIII s time, harsh
sanctions were placed on adults and children for violations of the law that were sometimes minor
(New York City Government, 2015). The upper class members of the society eventually became

Before the mid nineteenth century offenders received determinate sentences in prison (Rank, n.d.).
Determinate sentence is a non negotiable sentence of incarceration for the specific amount of time as
required by statute for that specific crime (U.S. Legal, 2015). Determinate sentencing became
problematic because prisons were often overcrowded, which forced governors to issue pardons or
prison wardens had to randomly release inmates to make room for new intake (Rank, n.d.).
Captain Alexander Maconochie and Sir Walter Crofton are credited for implementing early parole
system in England (Rank, n.d.). Maconochie was governor of an English penal colony at Norfolk
Island (Rank, n.d.). Convicted English offenders were transported to Australia from England and from
Australia to the island; unfortunately, the conditions were extremely bad for the offenders (Rank, n.d.).
Maconochie discontinued determinate sentencing and created a mark system (Rank, n.d.). Under the
mark system , inmates could be granted release from prison based upon their hard work and good
behavior (Rank, n.d.). Inmates earned marks, which were used to buy a reduction in sentence or
goods; unfortunately, inmates had to undergo a variety of stages before they were released and the
climbing through the stages depended on the number of marks received (Rank, n.d.).
Similar to Maconochie, Sir Walter Crofton was convinced that the prison sentence should not

GM, Ford, and Chrysler have independently created major initiatives to develop Toyota like

Fred Castleberry Dressing In Code
Dressing in code
The better you dress, the worse you can behave. Fred Castleberry .
This quote from Castleberry is relevant in many ways. When female students dress in code, they re
less likely to be targeted for every little thing they do. However, when that same student wears a
slightly shorter pair of shorts, or a low cut sweater, they re harassed. Some schools argue that the code
is to keep girls modest. In order to be modest you first must be sexualized, but who is qualified to run
a school if they sexualize 14 18 year old girls? Students from various schools, boys and girls, are more
likely to be distracted by a teacher calling someone out, than they are for a student wearing those
items. Schools have dress codes in place to keep girls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should we completely get rid of the dress code, or should we start a uniform policy? There are many
possible solutions, and each has consequences. One of these examples is using uniforms to control the
entire school population. If this happened, everyone would be wearing the same clothing: those who
get caught not wearing their uniform would face penalties. This would narrow down students asking
Am I allowed to wear this to school? In general facing uniforms as an answer to Timberline s dress

account that students already fume over the schools no shoulders policy. If female students with their

sometimes this results in calls home. Last year there was a staged free the shoulder day. There was a

things to consider before making this judgement such as the child s age, emotional attachment to one
parent, physical and mental health and each parent s lifestyle including the ability to provide food,

Nigeria, The Niger Delta and the Nigerian Government
Nigeria might be rich in resources; its population lives in poverty. With a Multidimensional Poverty
Index (MPI) of .31, it was ranked number 157 out of the 186 United Nations (UN) member states in
2012. Also, according to the World Bank, the poverty headcount ratio was 68%, meaning this part of
the population lived with less than $1.25 a day in 2010.
The Niger Delta is one of the nine states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It counts about 20 million
people and around 70 000 km² of land. The region is one of the most prominent wetlands in the world.
Oil has produced about $600 billion since the 1960 s.
Despite its wealth in resources, the majority of the people live under poor conditions. To counter this
poverty, the Nigerian government has set up several commissions in the past. The most prominent are
the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission (OMPADEC) and the Niger Delta
Development Commission (NDDC).
The OMPADEC was established in 1993 and focused on the development of the Niger Delta Region
(NDR). It however failed due to factors as corruption, mismanagement and non sufficient funding.
Hereafter, the NDDC was to replace the OMPADEC. It would create socio economic development in
the NDR. The NDDC set up various projects in the region. However, due to the poor structure of the
organisation and inadequate funding the NDDC have

According to beliefs of the Baha i faith, the most one can know about God is that God exists, so when
we try to describe God, such qualities are just analogies that are the best the human mind can
understand of God. Since the Baha i faith recognizes that different religions have different names for
the same one God, the Baha i faith accepts all these faith traditions as valid. Abdu l Bahá put it like
this: The differences among the religions of the world are due to the varying types of minds
(Introduction to Bahá í Beliefs and God). A Baha i believes that views of God might vary slightly
across religions because the views are formed from the cultures and different time periods.
Nonetheless, no idea of God by humans encapsulates the true qualities of God. God Himself if
believed to be omnipotent, perfect, and have complete knowledge of life. In addition, followers of the
Baha i faith also believe that God cannot become incarnate in a human being, this is one difference
compared to other monotheistic traditions. Lastly, God is not believed to have a gender, even though
masculine pronouns are often used in Baha i writings. (Introduction to Bahá í Beliefs and

Equipment For Operation Iraqi Freedom And Operation...
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM What were the causes for the excess and the abandonment of
equipment for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom? BACKGROUND Most
logistical tacticians have a tendency to review historical documents before developing strategies to
deploy and redeploy troops and equipment. This common practice is very successful to deploying
soldiers and equipment, but historically there is a lack of emphasis on the redeployment, or retrograde
of equipment. The soldiers are undoubtedly brought home; nonetheless antiquity shows us equipment
is sometimes not a priority to return. Logistic American retrograde issues were first publically noticed
in 1847 following war with Mexico. A published Army bulletin revealed property divesting as an issue
and needed a high priority because of the great loss of left behind equipment. Again after World Wars
I and II, the military had immense amounts of equipment scattered across the Pacific and Europe.
There was no specific need for the equipment after the war, and much of it was abandoned in place,
and although lack of retrograde operations occurred, the abandoned equipment turned useful in
supporting the Korean War. Logisticians learning their lessons from previous wars, vowed to not be
unprepared while entering the Vietnam War. Specialized programs and systems were established to
document, classify and store all equipment entering Vietnam. Continental Army Command initialized

Nuclear Fission Lab Report
NUCLEAR FISSION
INTRODUCTION
Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassman, two German chemists discovered the process of nuclear fission on
17th December, 1938. However, it was theoretically explained later by two Austrian British physicists,
Lise Meitner and Otto Robert Frisch in the 1939. Nuclear fission is the process by which a heavy
nucleus disintegrates or decays into two lighter nuclei of slightly similar weights when they absorb
slow moving neutrons known as thermal neutrons. The nuclei undergoing disintegration is known as
the parent nuclei and the nuclei s formed after the decay are known as the daughter nuclei. Along with
the daughter nuclei very large amount of energy is also released and some gamma photons are also
released. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this explanation they assumed the nucleus of a heavy atom to be comparable to a spherical drop of
liquid. The spherical shape of the liquid drop is maintained due to surface tension of water and also
due columbic force of attraction. When a neutron is absorbed by the nuclei its energy is increased due
to increased oscillations, due to which there is change in the spherical shape of the water droplet to
ellipsoidal. if further there is increase in the oscillating energy, the columbic force of attraction
between the nucleons decreases so the shape becomes more irregular and becomes dumb bell. The
surface tension of water tends to make the water droplet to obtain its original shape which, finally,
takes place by breaking the water droplet into two smaller water droplets of almost comparable sizes.
Similarly, the nuclear fission process can be explained. The following diagram below shows various
steps in the liquid drop

Causes Of Animal Extinction
Across the world, animal extinction is a problem causing thousands of animals to die each year.
Throughout time hundreds of animals are being slaughtered across the world. Some of the animals
that we may know and love are slowly becoming extinct. Although it may not be animals such as our
precious dogs or adorable kittens, there are animals in the world slowly declining in their population
size. Animals such as rhinos, eagles, and different species of fish are becoming endangered and some
are on the brink of extinction. Animal extinction is a problem that is gaining recognition across the
world. The most known causes of animal extinction are habitat fragmentation, poaching, and
deforestation. The first problem animals face is habitat fragmentation. Habitat fragmentation is the
process by which habitat loss results in the division of large, continuous habitats into smaller, more
isolated remnants . This is a problem because it means that large groups of animals are losing their
homes. This causes them to try and look for new homes for survival. This later causes a problem for
animals that have a small chance for survival without a home. For some animals, their home is the
most protective place for them. These animals may not possess many predatory traits for survival.
Unfortunately this makes them an easy target for the animals that are big and dangerous. For the
animals lucky enough to find a new home, they still have problems to face for survival. Animals
choose their habitat based on their environment. For a habitat to be suitable, it has to fit the
requirements for that animal. It should be close to a food source. It must be an appropriate size for that
animal. As well as provide a secure location for the animal and its possible children. Once this habitat
is destroyed, it is hard for an animal to find another home that it fits their essential needs. This means
that it may take too long for that animal to find a new home which makes its chances of survival slim.
This can be fixed by providing homes for those animals that no longer have one. Rescue centers are
working hard to find animals that have lost their homes. Once they are found, the people nurture them
back to a stable healthy state, and give

Moving Human Resources into an Employee Empowerment Culture
Situation Moving Human Resources into an Employee Empowerment Culture
Issue Employees are no longer content to work in an environment of adversity and autocracy. Instead,
the decade long tradition of the Human Rights Movement for more than one generation lets
individuals know that empowerment, change, respect, and actualization are powerful tools that will
not only benefit employees, but increase productivity and profits for owners and managers. This has
been the case for Yammer, the San Francisco based company that makes social networking software
for businesses (Hoge, 2012).
Theory Empowerment theory is tied up in Total Quality Management and the new models of Strategic
Human Resource Management. Both TQM and SHRM move from simply the tactical to the strategic,
looking at long term results, development of employees, retention as a strategy, and utilizing the
human element as part of the overall business planning cycle (Wilkinson, 1998).
Results Empowerment theory allows the organization as a whole to participate in the planning and
execution process of the company. It allows non managerial staff members to take ownership, feel part
of a larger whole, and increase their own performance as well as that of their departments and co
workers. Using empowerment theory, absences decrease, job satisfaction increases, and almost all
stakeholders report a more positive working experience and environment (Employee Empowerment,
2011).

  • 2. Essay An Analysis of Ethical Dilemma of International... Adoption boundaries have steadily extended since the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War, where many children became orphans. As a response to them winners, especially Americans, started to adopt children from the war torn countries (Wilkinson 1995, 174). Thus, it was a start point for international adoption. Intercountry (international or transnational) adoption is defined as adoption, where child is removed to the adoptees country. In recent times motives to adopt internationally are explained as charity of wealthier and more developed nations, a wish to help countries, which are fighting with economic problems, and also insufficient numbers of babies within the country. The rate of international adoption increased dramatically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In past years a rate of international adoption increased by approximately 16% from 1998 to 2007 (Selman 2009, 576). Figure 1 shows the rate of international adoption increased dramatically from approximately 32000 to 45000 children in 1998 2004 years; then it has started to decrease. Such big numbers in the rate of international adoption and popularity of it raises more and more positive and negative concerns. The whole society started to pay more attention to it, asking questions and raising ethical dilemma of international adoption. The importance of this topic is significant, since children should be considered as the most precious parts of every nation. Country s well being includes not only economic stability and military force, but children s happiness as well. Especially the future and happiness of abandoned children depends on international adoption. Accordingly, taking into account rate of intercountry adoption and its current problems the topic is relevant nowadays. Figure 1: Trends in intercountry adoptions to 23 receiving countries; top five receiving countries; USA and Europe, 1998 2007 (Selman 2009, 578) The first argument against international adoption is that it is a way to traffic children. Analysis of The Woman Who Walked into Doors by Roddy Doyle The Woman Who Walked Into Doors is a novel written by Roddy Doyle, set in Ireland in the early 1990s. This story combines love and violence and shows how the two can go together in one marriage. The story is written like a diary of Paula Spencer s good and bad memories in her life and gives the reader the impression that Paula is sharing her life story with us and she is also narrating her life as we read. The story begins with a prison guard arriving at Mrs Spencer s door to give Paula the unfortunate news that her husband, Charlo has died. Then Paula explains the marital status between her and her husband, which is that they are separated. She talks of their wedding, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was married to Charles, better known as Charlo for eighteen years and has four children, Nicola aged eighteen, John Paul aged sixteen, Leanne aged twelve and Jack aged five and is thirty nine years of age herself. Her fifth child died during pregnancy, no thanks to the brutal attacks she experienced. She has become a widow, and before her husband s death, was separated from him. Her father died of cancer. She has three sisters, one of which is dead and three brothers. Her mother is alive and well. Paula is an alcoholic and blames it on Charlo because of the horrendous way he treated her. To try and block this out she started drinking heavily. She fell deeper and deeper into the grip of alcoholism. She found it made her forget about reality and often made her feel calmer. However, she never drank until her children were in bed, thus sparing them the heartache of seeing their mother in such a drunken state. She works as a cleaner, mainly in houses and she cleans an office building on Tuesdays. She hides her alcohol in the shed and throws the key into the garden until she needs it at night when she will go and find it. She is very proud of her children because they have helped her survive through the harder times. Her only main concern is the welfare of her children. She tells us that her favourite child is Jack, the youngest. Her oldest son, John Paul is living elsewhere and by the time he reaches sixteen, he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Radio Raheem As A Role Model When people think of a role model the first thing that comes to mind is, how is this person successful? or what kind of achievements have they made in their lifetime. Radio Raheem was known as an aggressor in the entire movie Do the Right Thing . To the kids he was a man who always walked around playing loud music and did nothing else. There s the good and there s the bad. You might even find some types of friendships surprising, for example an entrepreneurial relationship . In the book Of Mice and Men Lennie and George are friends, but not very good friends. George is unfortunately friends with Lennie for the wrong reasons. Friendship of Utility, thus friends whose affection is based on utility do not love each other in themselves, but in so far as some benefit accrues to them from each other. Friendship of Pleasure, And similarly with those whose friendship is based on pleasure: for instance, we enjoy the society of witty people not because of what they are in themselves, but because they are agreeable to us. Friendship of the Good. The perfect form of friendship is that between the good, and those who resemble each other in virtue. For these friends wish each alike the other s good in respect of their goodness, and they are good in themselves; but it is those who wish the good of their friends for their friends sake who are friends in the fullest sense, since they love each other for themselves and not accidentally. In the article, Dr. Furnham argues the motives behind joining a cult, the different characteristics of a cult, and the misconceptions that individuals have in their initial encounter with a cult. Dr. Furnham analyses the reasons why individuals join cults. A Summary Of Phaseolus Abstract The sclerenchyma ring in the stem of Phaseolus lunatus, commonly known as lima bean, was measured in relation to the wavelength of light they were grown in (650, 475 nm). It was hypothesized that wavelength of light affects plant growth. It was predicted that plants grown when exposed to red light (650 nm) would grow taller and therefore have thicker sclerenchyma cell rings . The results of the t test failed to support both the hypothesis and prediction (P = 0.444599). When compared to other studies, this experiment appears to have skewed data; therefore, although the hypothesis was rejected, there is still evidence supporting the concept of a full spectrum of light is essential for proper plant development. It is possible that our hypothesis was rejected due to human error, as when estimating the space the sclerenchyma tissue took up or even a mechanical over sight such as a low wattage bulbs simulating growth in low light conditions. That being said it was found that plants grown in low light conditions would have a smaller mass: length ratio than those grown in a full spectrum (Magda et al. 2006). This implementation will rely on the human resources department and the information technology departments. We included both departments in the design and development processes. The developers have chosen a software package that was designed by Microsoft to implement the Riordan HRIS. The decision was largely pushed due to the fact that Riordan current OS is the Windows platform. Our team will be implementing the Microsoft base software, which will automatically create a new database on the MySql. Using the waterfall approach the system developers will be able to focus on one piece of the system and move on each part separately. This will give the design team more time to focus on small sections of the new coding. Moving from one stage to the next means that each step has been checked thoroughly and is completed. According to Implementation Phase Recommendations (2014), During the testing phase, these test cases are implemented, automated, and initially executed to verify that, as various parts of the system reach code complete, testing is ready to verify performance. • 15. Kalam Cosmological Argument Among various theories supporting the existence of God, cosmological arguments are strongest. This concept suggests that the existence of the universe has reason (Davies 48). Cosmological arguments consider how the universe came into existence. The kalam cosmological argument supports the theory that the universe could not have commenced by itself (Davies 49). Design arguments are weakest when asserting that the existence of God is attributable to characteristics displayed by the universe. Aquinas concluded that objects without knowledge cannot have goals unless a higher power is directing them (Davies 76). Davies uses an example of acorns consistently growing into oak trees to support this statement (76). However, David Hume suggests that order in the universe could easily be the result of chance (Davies 79). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Design arguments are less persuasive, because the regularity we experience in the universe could be due to chance (Davies 79). There are some weak points in cosmological arguments, however. One major weakness is that there is no way to prove the existence of the universe has a cause. For example, David Hume believes that if we are capable of imagining a universe without cause, then it is possible that the universe could have begun without reason (Davies 50). Another argument states that the universe is infinite, and if that is the case, then every event has a predecessor. This would mean that there was no beginning of the universe (Davies 53). There are few strengths in design arguments with the exception of having an explanation for the mundane occurrences of life. While I find design arguments intriguing, I cannot believe that inanimate objects receive instruction from a godly entity. • 16. Analysis Of Chickamagua By Ambrose Bierce In the short story Chickamagua written by Ambrose Bierce, the author follows a young six year old boy with no name and a hearing and speech impediment s journey throughout the mist of an ongoing dreadful war. Ambrose describes and narrates the story in an omniscient third person view, which is important to note because he is partially influenced by his own experiences of war; specially the Civil War. The central idea and theme being portrayed in this story is how the destruction and chaos of war destroys this young adolescence s innocence by being introduced to war first hand. To characterize and depict this, Ambrose uses literary elements such as imagery and symbolism to further his points. He really wants to drive home how this boy s romanticism for war can be turned upside down, especially when directly affected by war. Ambrose puts the boy s disconnection with reality into perspective by initially describing him as a child [who] strayed away from its rude home in a small field and entered a forest unobserved and as someone who in bodies his ancestors thirst for discovery and conquest , alluding to the fact that he is carelessly determined to explore (405). This irresponsible and carefree attitude sets the tone for how the boy responds to war first hand. As the story progresses further, the boy ends up falling asleep in the woods and later wakes up too an army marching forward towards battle. Abdu l Bahá put it like this: The differences among the religions of the world are due to the varying types of minds (Introduction to Bahá í Beliefs and God). A Baha i believes that views of God might vary slightly across religions because the views are formed from the cultures and different time periods. Nonetheless, no idea of God by humans encapsulates the true qualities of God. God Himself if believed to be omnipotent, perfect, and have complete knowledge of life. In addition, followers of the Baha i faith also believe that God cannot become incarnate in a human being, this is one difference compared to other monotheistic traditions. Lastly, God is not believed to have a gender, even though masculine pronouns are often used in Baha i writings. (Introduction to Bahá í Beliefs and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Equipment For Operation Iraqi Freedom And Operation... STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM What were the causes for the excess and the abandonment of equipment for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom? BACKGROUND Most logistical tacticians have a tendency to review historical documents before developing strategies to deploy and redeploy troops and equipment. This common practice is very successful to deploying soldiers and equipment, but historically there is a lack of emphasis on the redeployment, or retrograde of equipment. The soldiers are undoubtedly brought home; nonetheless antiquity shows us equipment is sometimes not a priority to return. Logistic American retrograde issues were first publically noticed in 1847 following war with Mexico. A published Army bulletin revealed property divesting as an issue and needed a high priority because of the great loss of left behind equipment. Again after World Wars I and II, the military had immense amounts of equipment scattered across the Pacific and Europe. There was no specific need for the equipment after the war, and much of it was abandoned in place, and although lack of retrograde operations occurred, the abandoned equipment turned useful in supporting the Korean War. Logisticians learning their lessons from previous wars, vowed to not be unprepared while entering the Vietnam War. Specialized programs and systems were established to document, classify and store all equipment entering Vietnam. Continental Army Command initialized the program STOP/SEE to ... • 32. Nuclear Fission Lab Report NUCLEAR FISSION INTRODUCTION Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassman, two German chemists discovered the process of nuclear fission on 17th December, 1938. However, it was theoretically explained later by two Austrian British physicists, Lise Meitner and Otto Robert Frisch in the 1939. Nuclear fission is the process by which a heavy nucleus disintegrates or decays into two lighter nuclei of slightly similar weights when they absorb slow moving neutrons known as thermal neutrons. The nuclei undergoing disintegration is known as the parent nuclei and the nuclei s formed after the decay are known as the daughter nuclei. Along with the daughter nuclei very large amount of energy is also released and some gamma photons are also released. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this explanation they assumed the nucleus of a heavy atom to be comparable to a spherical drop of liquid. The spherical shape of the liquid drop is maintained due to surface tension of water and also due columbic force of attraction. When a neutron is absorbed by the nuclei its energy is increased due to increased oscillations, due to which there is change in the spherical shape of the water droplet to ellipsoidal. if further there is increase in the oscillating energy, the columbic force of attraction between the nucleons decreases so the shape becomes more irregular and becomes dumb bell. The surface tension of water tends to make the water droplet to obtain its original shape which, finally, takes place by breaking the water droplet into two smaller water droplets of almost comparable sizes. Similarly, the nuclear fission process can be explained. The following diagram below shows various steps in the liquid drop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Causes Of Animal Extinction Across the world, animal extinction is a problem causing thousands of animals to die each year. Throughout time hundreds of animals are being slaughtered across the world. Some of the animals that we may know and love are slowly becoming extinct. Although it may not be animals such as our precious dogs or adorable kittens, there are animals in the world slowly declining in their population size. Animals such as rhinos, eagles, and different species of fish are becoming endangered and some are on the brink of extinction. Animal extinction is a problem that is gaining recognition across the world. The most known causes of animal extinction are habitat fragmentation, poaching, and deforestation. The first problem animals face is habitat fragmentation. Habitat fragmentation is the process by which habitat loss results in the division of large, continuous habitats into smaller, more isolated remnants . This is a problem because it means that large groups of animals are losing their homes. This causes them to try and look for new homes for survival. This later causes a problem for animals that have a small chance for survival without a home. For some animals, their home is the most protective place for them. These animals may not possess many predatory traits for survival. Unfortunately this makes them an easy target for the animals that are big and dangerous. For the animals lucky enough to find a new home, they still have problems to face for survival. Animals choose their habitat based on their environment. For a habitat to be suitable, it has to fit the requirements for that animal. It should be close to a food source. It must be an appropriate size for that animal. As well as provide a secure location for the animal and its possible children. Once this habitat is destroyed, it is hard for an animal to find another home that it fits their essential needs. This means that it may take too long for that animal to find a new home which makes its chances of survival slim. This can be fixed by providing homes for those animals that no longer have one. Rescue centers are working hard to find animals that have lost their homes. Once they are found, the people nurture them back to a stable healthy state, and give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Norris And Soloway Analysis Professor Cathleen A. Norris and Professor Elliot Soloway write positive information about the benefits of the Internet in education. They say that, wealthy or not, the internet provides our youth with an unequivocal access to knowledge and unmatched ability to communicate. Specifically, Norris and Soloway argue that, For a youth living below the poverty line in Detroit, an Internet connected smartphone is arguably the most empowering opportunity in that child s life (qtd. in Greenblatt). While they point out the positive benefit of connectivity and access to information, they also touch on the need for a guiding hand. Norris and Soloway go on to say how education will only improve with this tool, Within five years every child in every ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Moving Human Resources into an Employee Empowerment Culture Situation Moving Human Resources into an Employee Empowerment Culture Issue Employees are no longer content to work in an environment of adversity and autocracy. Instead, the decade long tradition of the Human Rights Movement for more than one generation lets individuals know that empowerment, change, respect, and actualization are powerful tools that will not only benefit employees, but increase productivity and profits for owners and managers. This has been the case for Yammer, the San Francisco based company that makes social networking software for businesses (Hoge, 2012). Theory Empowerment theory is tied up in Total Quality Management and the new models of Strategic Human Resource Management. Both TQM and SHRM move from simply the tactical to the strategic, looking at long term results, development of employees, retention as a strategy, and utilizing the human element as part of the overall business planning cycle (Wilkinson, 1998). Results Empowerment theory allows the organization as a whole to participate in the planning and execution process of the company. It allows non managerial staff members to take ownership, feel part of a larger whole, and increase their own performance as well as that of their departments and co workers. Using empowerment theory, absences decrease, job satisfaction increases, and almost all stakeholders report a more positive working experience and environment (Employee Empowerment, 2011). Analysis One of the ways in which the late ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
