Canadian Aboriginal And Canadian Society
Born in 1943, to a Greek mother and a Cherokee father, Thomas King moved to Canada in the late
1970 s to take a teaching job at the University of Lethbridge. There, he met his wife, Helen. Together
they delved into Canadian society and its multicultural essence. However, being of First Nation
descendant, King noticed that in Canada, the Aboriginal population was not as integrated into
Canadian society as it was preserved. Canadian society had a reputation of being multicultural,
accepting and seeking to add other cultural values, practices and morals too it s own. However, King
held the perspective that Canada misrepresented and undermined its Aboriginal inhabitants. Therefore
in 2012, King wrote a history book, that attempted to bring to light the Canadian Aboriginal relations
and a First Nation perspective of their representation, history and political desires to the forefront of
readers attention. The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America,
was the end result that encompassed King s beliefs, findings and objectives. Therefore, it is the
purpose of this essay to discuss and analyze The Inconvenient Indian by identifying its key aims,
highlighting and analyzing its major themes and core arguments, and identify any of the book s
shortcomings.
The first key aim of King s book, was to convey the notion that the book is an account, rather than a
historical book of facts, examples and theories. Uniquely, King does use historical events,

Tennessee Chief Justice Of The United States
Earl Warren was a politician and eventually a renown jurist. He served as the 30th Governor of
California and the 14th Chief Justice of the U.S. As the 14th Chief Justice, he was in charge of the
Warren Court, now known as one of the most liberal courts in the history of the U.S. Warren led
landmark decisions like Brown v. Board of Education, Gideon v. Wainwright, Reynolds v. Sims, and
Miranda v. Arizona that strengthened the power of the judicial branch to be in par with the other two
branches. Warren and his court desegregated public schools and other public sectors, defended the
rights of the accused, banned in school prayers, and instated one man one vote rule in voting districts.
Warren s dedication in desegregation showed how he succeeded in keeping all segregation cases
unanimous. Warren, appointed by Lyndon B. Johnson, headed a panel known as the Warren
Commission to investigate President Kennedy s assassination. Furthermore, Warren, during his time in
Court, nationalized the Bill of Rights to all states. Moreover, Warren and his Court in the landmark
case of Griswold v. Connecticut, established and protected the right to privacy.
George Gallup was a pioneer in survey sampling techniques and founded Gallup Inc., known for the
Gallup Poll. The Gallup Poll is a sector of the company that focuses on conducting public opinion
polls. Gallup and his new company gained recognition in 1936 when he correctly predicted that

Summary Of Dennis Baron s Methods To Pencils
As technology has progressed so has our composing practices. Dennis Baron, a linguist who studies
literacy and communication technologies, wrote From Pencils to Pixels: The Stages of Literacy
Technologies, a paper about how writing has progressed as a result of the progression of writing
technology, for example the pencil and computer. Grabill et. Al, a collaboration of professors and
assistant professors, wrote From Pencils to Pixels: The Stages of Literacy Technologies, a paper about
the writing technologies that students use most, and there importance to the student. The Grabill et. Al
paper demonstrates how students have moved toward computers and away from paper for writing.
Technology has greatly affected composing practices as it has progressed and developed. Baron states
The computer, the latest development in writing technology, promises, or threatens, to change literacy
practices for better or worse, depending on your point of view. (Baron, 691) Baron believes that the
computer is the biggest technological advancement, and that it has changed writing more than any
other technological advancement has previously. Grabill et. Al agrees that the computer has had a

The Effects Of Deep Breathing Exercises On The Prevention...
PICO question: How does the use of incentive spirometers compare to the use of deep breathing
exercises in the prevention of pulmonary complications in post operative, hospitalized patients?
Background and Rationale: Currently, postoperative pulmonary complications account for about 25%
of deaths occurring within 6 days of surgery, (Yoder, M 2015). Post operative pulmonary
complications (PPCs) are of major concern due to the increased length of hospital stays and high rates
of occurrence and death as a result. Those at greater risk of developing a pulmonary complication
include preexisting lung disease, medical comorbidities, poor nutritional status, overall poor health,
and in those who smoke. (Yoder, M, 2015.) The type of surgery the patient is having also affects the
risk. Complications include, but are not limited to, pneumonia, bronchospasm, respiratory failure and
prolonged mechanical ventilation. The development of such complications negatively affects the
expected outcomes for patients. The basic mechanism of PPCs is a lack of lung inflation that occurs
because of a change in breathing to a shallow, monotonous breathing pattern without periodic sighs,
prolonged recumbent positioning and temporary diaphragmatic dysfunction. Mucociliary clearance
along with the decreased cough effectiveness, increases risks associated with retained pulmonary
secretions, (Overend, T., Anderson, C., Lucy, S., Bhatia, C., Jonsson, B., Timmermans, C., 2001).

Types Of Investments And Bonds
Introduction
This paper will examine two basic types of investments; stock and bonds, from an investor s
perspective highlighting the advantages and disadvantages between common stock (equity) and
corporate bonds (debt).
Webster Dictionary defines investment as the outlay of money usually for income or profit usually in a
tangible asset such as property . With both stocks and bonds, the only thing tangible is a simple piece
of paper, a certificate. On the surface, these certificates may seem the same, however there is a very
important fundamental difference. Owning a stock certificate is evidence of being a shareholder;
hence money is exchanged for a portion of ownership in a company. A bond certificate, on the other
hand, represents a contract and evidence of giving a loan to a company. Stocks are considered equity
investments and bonds debt investments. This key difference brings its own set of pros and cons to
each of these types of investment and affects their level of risk and return.
The Advantages of Stocks
Corporations issue both stocks and bonds to raise capital to purchase land, equipment, building, or
even pay off debt. However, there are several advantages to investors to purchase a stock in a
corporation over bonds. First, when you purchase a share of stock you essentially become a part
owner in the company. With this ownership comes special privileges, such as the right to vote on who
sits on the board of directors and on matters that could

Comparing Sara Holbrook s Perspectives On Democracy And 12...
Both Sara Holbrook s and Reginald Rose s perspectives on democracy are shown in the poem
Democracy and in the excerpt from 12 Angry Men . They both express in these passages that
democracy can be unfair, very inefficient at times and also inequality. Yet, both authors don t see eye
to eye, for the things they want equality for. While Holbrook shows more feelings about equality of
resources in her poem, Rose talks about equality in terms of judgement and accusations toward the
accused defendant. This makes their perspectives similar yet different in some ways. In the excerpt
from 12 Angry Men , Reginald Rose shows the reader how democracy isn t always very efficient and
is sometimes unfair. He shows the reader how democracy isn t always

Set in 1931 when Aborigines were thought to be dying out the commitment to speed up their
disappearance by implementing appalling laws which resulted in a story of survival for three young
girls and their wish to return home and live their lives how they accustomed to. Molly, Gracie and
Daisy escape from confinement in a government camp for part Aboriginal children where they are
required to adapt to a strange new world under the government s policy which allows them to become
integrated into white Australian culture that s miles away from home. Part Aboriginal children are
removed from their families and relocated to these camps to save them from themselves (Brandt
Sponseller, 2005). it was supposed to be a good thing by the government to help their living situations
however lots didn t see the benefits of taking these children away under such harsh conditions. These

Told with honest emotion, director Philip Noyce creates a journey for these girls through the outback

music adds to the mystical feeling of the journey, carrying us with them. Along the way, we come

Identity, Hegemony, And Played Through The Dynamics Of...
McIntosh (2009) offers an intriguing case study, where the concepts of personhood, hegemony, and
fractal recursivity are intertwined and played through the dynamics of Swahili Giriama bordered
ethnoreligious interactions. The Giriama geographical, social, religious, and linguistic subordination
to the Swahili Muslims is the framework to negotiate, resist or submit to the hegemonic Swahili Islam.
First, through personhood, the Giriama frame their religious actions and relations with the Swahilis.
Their actions are collective and caused by external powers, rather than individualistically bounded and
rational actors as the Swahilis. How Arabic in this case is perceived amplify this notion, as Swahilis
take it to be accessible via learning and memorizing, and Giriama take it to be accessible through
spirit possession by Muslim spirits. This reinforces their submission and lose of identity by adopting
Arabic (p. 255). Second, hegemony plays a significant role in shaping how power is lived and
replicated in daily life, to be accepted or rejected by the society. Therefore, Giriama attitude towards
Swahili Muslims is exhibited in their refusal to submit to Islam and instead cherish their
traditionalism, yet they oftentimes acknowledge Islam s power and the potency of Arabic through
divination and spirit possession. Third, fractal recursivity is shown through how the Giriama s evident
urbanity is opposed to them living on the margins of the city thus closer to the jungle and their

The Story Makers
The Story Makers
Family members can be a person s greatest blessing or his worst nightmare. There are the relatives that
can help one accomplish their wildest dreams, and there are those who succeed in spite of their
relatives. These two types of relatives are very influential and tend to focus on the important and
stressful topics going on in life. Then there are the relatives that inspire the crazy, wonderful memories
that are told to grandkids generations later. These relatives are extreme in everything they do and can
be classified into three specific types: the Drill Sergeant, the Traditionalist and the Cheek Pincher. The
Drill Sergeant plans everything to his or her idea of perfection. In most cases, The Drill Sergeant in
the family is a woman. She often suffers from OCBD (obsessive children s behavior disorder) and has
a supercilious attitude towards everyone in her family. She pays painstaking attention to the manners
of everyone around her and does not shy from pointing out everyone s mistakes. When the Sergeant
cooks dinner for the family, the meal is often dull and healthy. She adds no seasoning to her dishes
because that would ruin the authenticity of the ingredients. At the dinner table, she stares down each
family member to make sure that they not only chew and swallow every single bite, instead of spitting
out the meal into their napkins like they desperately want to do; she also expects they will pretend to
enjoy the meal with smiles on their faces. Even

Persian Culture Research Paper
The first traces of human settlement in the region date back to the prehistoric period, circa 9000 BCE
Persians have survived millenniums of invasions and conquests. Persia was a powerhouse of academic
knowledge in ancient times with leaders in astronomy, medicine, mathematics, literature and
philosophy. They have left behind not only intricate art objects, but also tools used for smelting and
refining pottery, as well as making wine. One of the recent archaeological discoveries claims that the
earliest and oldest archaeological finding of winemaking and production comes from an area in Persia
called Hajji Firuz Tepe, a Neolithic village site in northern Iran (Ladjevardian 1999, Berkowitz 1996,

They remember Greeks, Arabs, Mongols, Turks, and most recently Saddam Hussein s forces, all
invaded their homeland. Iranians also remember that the British and Russian empires exploited them
economically, subjugated them politically, and invaded and occupied their country in two World Wars
(Ramazani 2009). Through this all, Iran s geographical area and its people identity have remained
more or less the same. The vast land three times the size of France and twenty times that of the Czech
Republic is demarcated to the North by the Caspian Sea (740 km of coastline) and to the South by the
Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman (2,440 km of coastline). Three fifths of the country, especially the
central plateau, lacks the rainfall to sustain permanent agriculture. Farming is confined to rain fed
Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and the Caspian coast, to irrigated villages and oases scattered throughout the
county, especially at the foot of the mountain ranges (See Map 1 2) (Abrahamian 2008, p. 1). Iran is a
neighbour to seven countries (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Armenia,
Azerbaijan), which makes it a natural crossroad of civilizations and trade flows. Its rich history shows
that for many centuries Iran has been a key land bridge between Europe and Asia through the
renowned Silk Road and Spice Route (Central Intelligence Agency 2015, Thompson 1983, UNESCO

Platypus Vs Constitution
What do a platypus and the Constitution of the United States have in common? There have never been
and will never be anything like them again. Of course, for the platypus, that is obvious because God
created all animals uniquely. But the Constitution is a different story. It was the first of its kind. No
country had ever attempted a government like it before. So what makes it special? It was the blueprint
for a democratic republic, and it actually worked. The Constitution has one main pillar that has
supported it for the last 2 centuries. This is its precise balance of the power held by the government.
To accomplish this, the Constitution specifically states what powers Congress and the president have.
The government may not exceed these

little more mystique than the eras that came before. Taking true inspiration from this era in time, this
famous empire has been brought to life by the casino slots game that is simply known as Aztec

past consisted of being a veterinarian, a teacher, an astronomer, an entrepreneur, and a lawyer. I had
specific reasons for choosing these careers, but like most occupations that young children choose to
pursue, my choices were not what I was truly passionate about. There were also many factors those
jobs involved that would make me unhappy, such as being a vet often requires performing surgery and
performing vaccinations. It was also based on what my mindset was at the time, for example, how I
convinced myself that I was destined to be a lawyer for the sole reason that I was a gifted argurer,
which was the equivalent of a moody pre teen. Throughout the entirety of these phases, I created and
progressed in art regularly, and I loved it. Furthermore I had talent, and to my

Using Mobile Technology And Its Impact
Today s workforce has changed dramatically compared to the past. One aspect of this change is in
terms of work life balance, particularly in the realms technological development and globalization,
and their combined effect on the modern workforce. These aspects are responsible for the
transformation of the traditional work week, especially in fields where the work is done through the
use of computers and technologically advanced machinery, as well as jobs that can be relocated in
third world countries. The introduction of new technologies such as mobile devices, portables, and the
internet has accelerated the work pace to obsession over efficiency and precision. Consequently, this
adds pressure on managers and employees, forcing them to take their work home and causing a
deterioration in their quality of life. However, the exact degree of this change from the past remains to
be well studied and researched. To further evaluate this claim, 11 subjects were interviewed about the
use of mobile technology and its impact. These interviews targeted managers of all levels and of
different years of experience. These findings are also supported by using the theory of the economist
Frederick Herzberg, as well as from Robert Tannenbaum and Warren Schimidt, and other articles and
studies done in the business world. Technology as an Important Tool The introduction of new
technologies, like mobile phones, tablets, laptops, portable devices and the new pervasiveness of the

The Effect Of Effective Technology On British Land...
In this essay I will be talking about how effective technology was in British land campaigns during the
First World War and the Second World War. The first source we are presented with is source E. It is an
interpretation of the effectiveness of British generals during the First World War, written by Gary
Sheffield in 2001. It s purpose is to show consensus of the interpretations of the generals in the First
World War, and to also show his personal interpretation. He is doing this since he is a revisionist.
Source E supports the statement because Sheffield uses the word Donkeys to describe the
ineffectiveness of the generals during the First World War and to show that the generals may have
made mistakes. However, the second part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are also some limitations to this source. For example, it misses out a lot of other
technology which was used is the First World War, since this is only an extract we can not see all.
Another limitation is that the extract is from a book, this means the author (Sheffield) may have
deliberately controversial in order for people to interested in is book and ultimately get more sales.
Overall, this source gives us a bit of information, which both support and dispute the statement. The
first part talks about the mistakes made during the First World War, however the second part talks
about how weapons were used successfully, this shows that the source is objective. Source F is a
primary source of a painting, which was created in WW1 by John Sargent. Sargent was paid by the
British government to document the war, so it could be shown to future generations what happened
during the First World War. Its purpose it so make the viewer question the morality of using gas and
the possible affect it could have on thousands of men. The source supports the statement, by showing
the sun setting in the background it symbolises the sacrifice of the wasted life of the men. The source
also shows a group of soldiers playing football in the background, this shows us that gas attacks were
a frequent thing during the First World War, this shows us that technology was not me to prevent gas
attack, overall, supporting the statement. However, the source also disproves the statement,

Good And Evil In Mccarthy s Blood Meridian
It is evident, even in the first few pages of this novel, that evil plays a huge role in Blood Meridian.
On the first page of this book, McCarthy says ...in him broods already a taste for mindless violence
(3). So right from the start, the kids mind was set on evil, not good. There is a similarity in that
sentence with the Christian faith. Christians believe that from the very start of human life, everyone
has an evil nature. No one is born without sin. The whole reason for needing a Savior is because of
man s evil nature. People will search far and wide for something to make them feel whole. Until they
find Christ, they will not be fully satisfied. This thought can parallel with everything that the Kid has
done. From the start, he had evil intentions in his mind. He searched for someone or something to take
that out upon. He found the judge and Glanton, who assisted him in expressing his feelings (the evil
and hatred) through violence. He latched on to those who carried his same thoughts and began to act

Transitioning From High School At College Is Always A...
Transitioning from high school to college is always a struggle for any young adult. The idea of picking
your own classes, living on campus, and separating from lifelong friends is extremely overwhelming

and must work your way back up the status ladder. College opens up a new world that individuals
must explore in order to make the best of their first year. But no matter what college we attend, our
freshman year of college will always have a strong impact on our lives. Over the years as music,
technology, television shows, and trends become different, our experiences and memories of freshman
year will never change. So when interviewing my Great Aunt Arlene Dudie about her freshman year

University beginning in June of 1977.
Speaking with her about her life as a college student back in 1977 allowed me to share another
amazing moment with her that I will never forget. My great aunt is an expressive, sociable, intelligent,

Feminism In Wonder Woman
Who doesn t love a good superhero? The perfect figure, the spandex suit, the flowing cape, flawless
looks, and the powers we can only dream of having. Superheroes have been around for ages now,
leaving an everlasting imprint on our hearts. It is no secret that males dominate the superhero industry;
both the heroes themselves and those who create them. Superman, Batman, Ironman, and Spiderman
have become the top heroes of all time; there is nothing wrong with them holding the spotlight, but
female heroes are underrepresented. There are notable female heroes, but they tend to be drawn with a
busty figure that few women are naturally blessed with, and show little emotional rational in fights.
Take Black Widow (Marvel) for example, anyone would love for her figure and kick ass moves.
Wonder Woman is our hero of the hour, she has made her way onto the big screen; casting her into the
spotlight more than ever. She screams fights for love, promotes peace, is a beacon of hope, and
screams feminism. What s not to love? The new movie released on June 2, 2017, has called more
attention to the American spirited, Amazonian woman than ever before. The movie is the first fully
female directed movie, Patty Jenkins brings a great female to the big screen. Although the movie is
great and supports feminism, is the movie the depiction of Wonder Woman that should be idealized?

One of Lisicky writing piece who has a strong connection to character development was Beachtown
talks about a lady named, Ruby. Ruby is the main character and according to the story, there is
evidence that she might be someone who thinks negatively about everything in the world. An example
of her thoughts would be in the first few sentences, The birds can go elsewhere. The maritime forest?
Let it burn to the ground. The palms along the causeway can go up with it. The spiders, the fleas, the
rats, the snakes: any living creature that lives in the leaves. They can burn up too. ( At the end of her
thinking process, Lisicky

The Symbols Of Righteousness In Dante s Journey
The representations of the different symbols for righteousness are shown through the shine of first
rays of sunrise, which shows that God wants Dante to change, Sin is also symbolized through the three
beasts, which could represent how he has sinned and he can t escape his past. For better insight,
analyze the sins that Dante has committed before stepping onto the path of righteousness to
understand Dante s journey.
The first rays of sunrise show that God had wanted him to change, so he sent a wake up call to Dante.
With the sunrise shining onto the little hill, the Mount of Joy, Dante found a new inspiration. He
wanted to change his ways and get back onto the True Way that God had intended for him to be on.
Dante realized that no matter what he tried, he couldn t get back on the path of righteousness by
himself. His pathway to righteousness has been blocked by his sins that he has committed. He tries to
get around his sins to righteousness, but he can t do it alone. God sends Virgil, his Human Reason
which helped him understand what he needed to do and how to do it, to help him get into the True
Way that God wanted him to lead his life by. For the final ascent to righteousness, ... Show more

Now that he has realized the error of his actions he is trying to change them and the sins are standing
in the way of righteousness. Dante s path to The Mount of Joy is blocked by the Three Beasts of
Worldliness: The Leopard of Malice and Fraud, The Lion of Violence and Ambition, and The She
Wolf of Incontinence. His sins of malice, fraud, violence, ambition, and lack of self restraint had
become physical. These beasts want him to stay a sinner so they try to push him back into the Dark
Wood of Error. As he tries to fight, he is steadily being pushed into the Dark Woods. Dante soon
realizes that his fighting is futile because he is drowning in his sins. No matter what he does, he can t

Currently, Chipotle serves 100 percent naturally raised pork and over 80 percent naturally raised
chicken and beef. Chipotle is also looking into using more sustainably grown produce and locally
sourced produce when in season.
The Principles of Chipotle
A Few Things, Thousands of Ways Chipotle plans to keep its menu simple, but the combinations of
fresh ingredients create countless meal varieties for customers. The majority of the food products are
fresh and prepared from scratch using kitchen stoves, grills, pots, pans, knives, and other utensils.
Food Served Fast ... So That Customers Can Enjoy It Slowly The employees of Chipotle spend hours
preparing the food at each location so it can be ready for customers in seconds. While there may be
many people waiting to order, the assembly line fashion of adding ingredients to each customer s
specialized order allows for Chipotle crew members to serve up to 300 people per hour (Chipotle,
2011, p. 4).
The Front Line is the Key Chipotle s kitchen and restaurant design intentionally places employees up
front to reinforce a focus on service, through interaction with customers and individual attention by
creating one burrito at a time (Chipotle, 2011, p. 5). While Chipotle combines basic ingredients to
magnify the flavor they also stick to the basics when staffing their restaurants. Chipotle only has two

Violence In Aguirre
Violence in Aguirre The purpose of Spanish conquests during the 1500s was to spread Christianity to
indigenous peoples. In the movie, Aguirre: The Wrath of God, Lope De Aguirre travels the jungles and
mountains of the Incan Empire on a treacherous conquest will an ulterior motive of finding the
illustrious legend of El Dorado, a kingdom ...where gold was said to be so plentiful that it was thrown
into a sacred lake in an annual ritual (Primary Source, 4). Aguirre, in an attempt for power, overthrows

film, Herzog associates his understanding of Aguirre s purpose, in which the expedition of Pedro De

depicts Aguirre s killing of Ursua as an act of gaining power, as no one oppose Aguirre s leadership of

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Literary Analysis
When viewed holistically, one finds it evident that different paradigms are accepted throughout
different cultures and set the foundation for how life should be conducted. Heroes in literature play an
extensive role in the representation of such values. When delving into the monomyth, constructed by
Joseph Campbell, one may witness the perspective and moral code of the hero ,and marvel at the
means by which they overcome tribulation. Yet, ultimately, the ideals of the era are fortified through
example. The literary works of Beowulf and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight convey both cultural
and paradigm shifts in, one dimensional views of humans to a more complex understanding, from the
days when the Anglo Saxons ruled England to the Late Middle ... Show more content on

they did not accompany him on his journey. His company almost receives the news as a sort of jest as

baldric of bright green. (Weston) Although is unintentional, his comrades are mocking his failure, and
are unable to relate to the hero. Ultimately, the medieval society, remains in a state of ignorance
because of what they value. The concepts of love, chivalry, and prestige obscure their view of the

The Seal Hunt As a Newfoundlander I strive to hold on to every bit of our culture and history we have

There is an overabundance of seals, by the government setting a quota and people following that they
ensure that there will still be a thriving population of seals. (FAQS: The Atlantic seal hunt, 2009). The
benefits for Newfoundlanders from the seal hunt are unconceivable; it helps our province become
economically stable and our unemployment rates go down. Most importantly with the population
control of seal, it would hopefully one day lead to the day where the moratorium is lifted. People have
very strong feelings towards the seal hunt. It is one of the most controversial topics in Canada. Many
foundations like Greenpeace and Sea Shepard Conservation Society have been fighting the seal hunt
in Canada for years. Claiming it s inhuman . People like Paul McCartney and Heather Mills come to
Canada and lay down on the ice with a few baby white coats and tug at your heartstrings trying to
convince the world that the seal hunt is killing these baby seals. That is however incorrect, Canada
outlawed the killing of white coats in 1987. (FAQS: The Atlantic seal hunt, 2009) Another fight that
they have is that the club or the hakapik which is a tool used for killing seals, is a inhuman and has no

How Did Honey Affect Aboriginal Culture
Regarded as a very important part of the aboriginal culture, bees have been used by aborigines for
food, tools and trade for thousands of years. Honey held great values and was considered a sign of
respect. This was shown when honey was given to tribal elders by the hunters. Honey was treated as a
highly prized substance, giving as a gift or traded as a valuable product. If this valuable substance was
not traded or gifted, aborigines would simply use it to sweeten foods.
Referred to as Sugarbag by the aborigines, native honey contains a lot of resin from native trees such
as the eucalyptus tree. Due to its value, honey was scavenged for and found in nests located in trees,
stumps, rocky crevices and muddy river banks. In order for the aborigines to find native bee hives,
hunters would catch foraging bees and attach small pieces of light weight materials such as pieces of
feather, spider web or grass to the pollen sacs or resin that was being collected by the bees. ... Show

The bee s flight speed was then decreased and slow enough for the aboriginals to follow it back to its
hive.
Hives that were situated high in a tree were not disturbed by cutting down the tree, instead, the honey
was gathered by carving foot holes into the tree. This allowed for the aboriginals to climb up to the
hive. The contents of the hive would then be obtained and left to recover and rebuild, to be collected at
a later date.
Beeswax and resin were important for making weaponry. These bee by products were used to fasten
pieces of stone to wood. This would be achieved by heating the wax until it became a malleable liquid
and would then be poured over the two materials and left to dry. Once dried, the honey would harden
acting as a strong glue to hold the material together to be used for hunting

Juvenile Justice
Juvenile justice has traditionally followed a punitive model when faced with young transgressors.
Most juvenile justice departments have then also followed this model, creating a system that is in
effect not only separate from the community, but also from the family unit. Many juvenile offenders
are then physically removed both from their communities and their families to be incarcerated into
punitive institutions. According to the Balanced and Restorative Justice model, however,
accountability is best encouraged with the direct involvement of both the community and the family
unit (U.S. Dept. of Justice). This is also the case with young John Black, whose offense was
possession of a fire arm, although this did not lead to any actual harm to others. He is therefore an
excellent candidate for family and community based programs, helping him to learn accountability
and find his place in society in an effective and productive way. Probation in juvenile justice has a
very specific role. The first important thing to keep in mind is the underlying reasons for crimes
committed by youth and the importance of distinguishing this from the reasons why adults would
engage in criminal activity (King County, 2012). As such, the Juvenile Probation Office regards
accountability as important when young people like John commit crimes, but it is also important to
prevent further delinquent activity. Hence, the Office considers incarceration or institutionalization
only as a last resort

Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 3 Counters
We all use counters every day. Whether it be in our watches, or even something like our washing
machines, digital counters are found in nearly anything that involves timing (Electronics Hub, 2015).
Counters have come a very long way over the years, increasing in both efficiency and complexity. One
example of an early counter is the counter developed by Paul Stillman in 1854. This design had a
small manual crank which would turn a dial by one digit each time it was cranked. Once the first dial
had turned by ten digits, it would then turn the next dial by one digit (in a gradual motion). In 1920,
the Veeder Manufacturing Company made a counter that replaced this manual crank, which would
only allow for turning the dials one digit at a time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As these flip flops have a positive edge trigger for the clock input, this means every time the clock
input goes from LOW to HIGH, it triggers the flip flop, updating the Q output to whatever the D input
is, assuming the SET and RESET inputs of the flip flop are both inactive, which they are in this circuit
(Digital Electronics, 2014). At the start, the D input will be HIGH, because D is connected to the
inverted Q output (PyroElectro, 2013). However, the 555 timer has a HIGH output at the start, but due
to the fact the flip flop triggers when the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, the counter still starts
off counting from 0, because it takes one count for the clock to go back to LOW then to HIGH again.
As the clock counts, every second count of the previous flip flop will cause the next flip flop to
change state. Thinking back to simple binary theory, this makes sense. As a digit in binary is double
the previous one, every second time the previous digit changes state, the next digit should change state
once. As this is a four bit counter, once the fourth digit changes state from HIGH to LOW, the counter
resets, and counts from zero

Women During Ww2
Women during World War II World War II caused a shift in the gender roles and stereotypes. While
some countries saw progress: United States, France, Britain, Italy and the Soviet Union, others
oppressed women: Germany and Japan. In countries like the United States and Britain, women began
joining the workforce and the military. French women fought for the Resistance against Germany
when the Germans occupied France. Even though Italy was allied with Germany and a Nazi country,
many women resisted fascism and assisted Jewish people. Many Soviet women flew fighter planes,
some of the first women to do so. Japanese women were required to work in poor conditions. German

Women were a staple in this movement, working in factories making things like silk and textiles.
While these women were crucial, they often did not have a lot of money or a husband. The reason
many of them did not have husbands is because women were supposed to stop being paid for work
after they got married. They were still expected to be hard workers for the family after marriage, but
also be submissive and compliant. In the first 40 years of the 20th century, this became even more
enforced. This meant that in 1937, when the Pacific War began, women were discouraged from
joining the armed forces. By 1943, Japan was having the same problems as many other countries: so
many men in the military were dying, so women had to step up and begin taking over jobs on the
homefront. By 1944, over four million women were working. Anyone considered fit to work was
required to. Women fit to work were not married and over the age of 15. Although not required,
married women were also pushed to work. There were not nearly as many Japanese women working
as there were American, but their involvement in wartime efforts was still a crucial part of Japan s
history. Japanese women in the workforce during World War II were paid less than men and the
conditions afforded them were horrible. Food was scarce, factories were loud and unclean; and the
work was difficult. Many women were required to stay in confined living quarters behind factories.
When the war ended and American military began moving into Japan, they freed working women and
attempted to give them many of the same rights that Western women had. These rights were not being
required to stop working for wages after marriage and other restrictions placed on them. Neither
entering the workforce nor the demands of Americans gave Japanese women any real change. They
hardly had any freedom before, during or after the

Difference Between Inductive And Guided Discovery
Introduction In this provided chapter, the teaching method is more likely to be the inductive approach
to language teaching or learning and deductive approach, or guided discovery. Deductive vs. inductive
grammar teaching There are differences between inductive approach and deductive approach. Gollin
(1998) stated that the inductive approach applied students to work out what the rules are from
examples and find out what the meanings are throughout the given examples or practices whilst the
deductive approach happened when teacher gives the explicit rules first. To be more specific, the
former refers to working from the general to more specific whereas the latter moving from specific
observations to broader generalizations. The concept of discovery techniques in Harmar (1987) is a
keeping of what inductive approach which students start with several examples and will be soon asked
to generate the rules through their experiences and examples. Upon Harmar s idea, Scrivener (2011)
prompt the concept of guided discovery which is activities that allow learners to generate their own
discoveries and explanations (Scrivener, 2005). Broadly speaking, it is a consciousness raising in
order to help learners notice how a structure works. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The enduring nature and extensive range of the debate about dividend policy has spawned a vast
amount of literature that grows by the day. For this reason, a full review of all debates is not feasible1.
However, this paper endeavours to give justice to the importance of both the topic of dividend policy
as an area of financial economic research, and also to the literature that has been produced addressing
that topic, by reviewing the most important and influential studies in this area. It attempts to outline
the main theories and explanations of dividend policies and to review the main empirical studies on
corporate dividend policy. The remaining of this paper is organized as follows. Section 2 gives a short
background of corporate dividend policy. Section 3 analyses the theories of dividend policy starting
with the dividend irrelevance hypothesis of Miller and Modigliani, and then the alternative hypotheses
including bird inthe hand, tax preference, clientele effects, signalling, and agency costs hypotheses.
Section 4 summarises the paper.
2. Background of Corporate Dividend Policy2
The issue of corporate dividends has a long history and, as Frankfurter and Wood (1997) observed, is
bound up with the development of the corporate form itself. Corporate dividends date back at least to
the early sixteenth century in Holland and Great Britain when the captains of sixteenth century sailing
ships started selling financial claims to investors, which

Some Close Encounters of a Mental Kind by Stephen Jay Gould
I spy with my little eye something blue, or is it purple, maybe green? I Spy was one of my favorite
games when I was a little girl. Almost everyone as a child that I know played this game, and if you
did, and your experience was anything like mine, you got stuck on an object or two a couple of times.
If you didn t play, eye spy was a game where someone said a color of something they saw and you
would have to guess what object it was or vice versa. Was it our own vision at fault or that of our
friends that we couldn t find what we were searching for? Doesn t matter since someone saw
something they didn t actually see. Stephen Jay Gould, a teacher of several subjects at Harvard
University, discusses how our brain can play tricks on us in his essay titled Some Close Encounters of
a Mental Kind. Although our minds are powerful things, what we see, or remember seeing, can be
wrong. Perfect is definitely an adjective my mom would use to describe herself. Her eyesight, on the
other hand, is far from satisfactory. When I say that, I don t mean she is in need for glasses, she doesn
t see what is actually happening but rather what she wants to see. Every year my family participates in
this huge celebration known as the Basque Picnic. My dad and brother are in charge of one of the food
items while my grandmother and mom deal with serving. I, on the other hand, am a member of the
traditional Basque dancing group that performs at the festival. One year,

  • 2. Canadian Aboriginal And Canadian Society Born in 1943, to a Greek mother and a Cherokee father, Thomas King moved to Canada in the late 1970 s to take a teaching job at the University of Lethbridge. There, he met his wife, Helen. Together they delved into Canadian society and its multicultural essence. However, being of First Nation descendant, King noticed that in Canada, the Aboriginal population was not as integrated into Canadian society as it was preserved. Canadian society had a reputation of being multicultural, accepting and seeking to add other cultural values, practices and morals too it s own. However, King held the perspective that Canada misrepresented and undermined its Aboriginal inhabitants. Therefore in 2012, King wrote a history book, that attempted to bring to light the Canadian Aboriginal relations and a First Nation perspective of their representation, history and political desires to the forefront of readers attention. The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America, was the end result that encompassed King s beliefs, findings and objectives. Therefore, it is the purpose of this essay to discuss and analyze The Inconvenient Indian by identifying its key aims, highlighting and analyzing its major themes and core arguments, and identify any of the book s shortcomings. The first key aim of King s book, was to convey the notion that the book is an account, rather than a historical book of facts, examples and theories. Uniquely, King does use historical events, ... • 3. Tennessee Chief Justice Of The United States Earl Warren was a politician and eventually a renown jurist. He served as the 30th Governor of California and the 14th Chief Justice of the U.S. As the 14th Chief Justice, he was in charge of the Warren Court, now known as one of the most liberal courts in the history of the U.S. Warren led landmark decisions like Brown v. Board of Education, Gideon v. Wainwright, Reynolds v. Sims, and Miranda v. Arizona that strengthened the power of the judicial branch to be in par with the other two branches. Warren and his court desegregated public schools and other public sectors, defended the rights of the accused, banned in school prayers, and instated one man one vote rule in voting districts. Warren s dedication in desegregation showed how he succeeded in keeping all segregation cases unanimous. Warren, appointed by Lyndon B. Johnson, headed a panel known as the Warren Commission to investigate President Kennedy s assassination. Furthermore, Warren, during his time in Court, nationalized the Bill of Rights to all states. Moreover, Warren and his Court in the landmark case of Griswold v. Connecticut, established and protected the right to privacy. George Gallup was a pioneer in survey sampling techniques and founded Gallup Inc., known for the Gallup Poll. The Gallup Poll is a sector of the company that focuses on conducting public opinion polls. Gallup and his new company gained recognition in 1936 when he correctly predicted that Franklin D. Roosevelt would beat Alf Landon in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of Dennis Baron s Methods To Pencils As technology has progressed so has our composing practices. Dennis Baron, a linguist who studies literacy and communication technologies, wrote From Pencils to Pixels: The Stages of Literacy Technologies, a paper about how writing has progressed as a result of the progression of writing technology, for example the pencil and computer. Grabill et. Al, a collaboration of professors and assistant professors, wrote From Pencils to Pixels: The Stages of Literacy Technologies, a paper about the writing technologies that students use most, and there importance to the student. The Grabill et. Al paper demonstrates how students have moved toward computers and away from paper for writing. Technology has greatly affected composing practices as it has progressed and developed. Baron states The computer, the latest development in writing technology, promises, or threatens, to change literacy practices for better or worse, depending on your point of view. (Baron, 691) Baron believes that the computer is the biggest technological advancement, and that it has changed writing more than any other technological advancement has previously. Grabill et. • 5. The Effects Of Deep Breathing Exercises On The Prevention... PICO question: How does the use of incentive spirometers compare to the use of deep breathing exercises in the prevention of pulmonary complications in post operative, hospitalized patients? Background and Rationale: Currently, postoperative pulmonary complications account for about 25% of deaths occurring within 6 days of surgery, (Yoder, M 2015). Post operative pulmonary complications (PPCs) are of major concern due to the increased length of hospital stays and high rates of occurrence and death as a result. Those at greater risk of developing a pulmonary complication include preexisting lung disease, medical comorbidities, poor nutritional status, overall poor health, and in those who smoke. (Yoder, M, 2015.) The type of surgery the patient is having also affects the risk. Complications include, but are not limited to, pneumonia, bronchospasm, respiratory failure and prolonged mechanical ventilation. The development of such complications negatively affects the expected outcomes for patients. The basic mechanism of PPCs is a lack of lung inflation that occurs because of a change in breathing to a shallow, monotonous breathing pattern without periodic sighs, prolonged recumbent positioning and temporary diaphragmatic dysfunction. Mucociliary clearance along with the decreased cough effectiveness, increases risks associated with retained pulmonary secretions, (Overend, T., Anderson, C., Lucy, S., Bhatia, C., Jonsson, B., Timmermans, C., 2001). • 6. Types Of Investments And Bonds Introduction This paper will examine two basic types of investments; stock and bonds, from an investor s perspective highlighting the advantages and disadvantages between common stock (equity) and corporate bonds (debt). Webster Dictionary defines investment as the outlay of money usually for income or profit usually in a tangible asset such as property . With both stocks and bonds, the only thing tangible is a simple piece of paper, a certificate. On the surface, these certificates may seem the same, however there is a very important fundamental difference. Owning a stock certificate is evidence of being a shareholder; hence money is exchanged for a portion of ownership in a company. A bond certificate, on the other hand, represents a contract and evidence of giving a loan to a company. Stocks are considered equity investments and bonds debt investments. This key difference brings its own set of pros and cons to each of these types of investment and affects their level of risk and return. The Advantages of Stocks Corporations issue both stocks and bonds to raise capital to purchase land, equipment, building, or even pay off debt. However, there are several advantages to investors to purchase a stock in a corporation over bonds. First, when you purchase a share of stock you essentially become a part owner in the company. With this ownership comes special privileges, such as the right to vote on who sits on the board of directors and on matters that could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparing Sara Holbrook s Perspectives On Democracy And 12... Both Sara Holbrook s and Reginald Rose s perspectives on democracy are shown in the poem Democracy and in the excerpt from 12 Angry Men . They both express in these passages that democracy can be unfair, very inefficient at times and also inequality. Yet, both authors don t see eye to eye, for the things they want equality for. While Holbrook shows more feelings about equality of resources in her poem, Rose talks about equality in terms of judgement and accusations toward the accused defendant. This makes their perspectives similar yet different in some ways. In the excerpt from 12 Angry Men , Reginald Rose shows the reader how democracy isn t always very efficient and is sometimes unfair. • 9. Identity, Hegemony, And Played Through The Dynamics Of... McIntosh (2009) offers an intriguing case study, where the concepts of personhood, hegemony, and fractal recursivity are intertwined and played through the dynamics of Swahili Giriama bordered ethnoreligious interactions. The Giriama geographical, social, religious, and linguistic subordination to the Swahili Muslims is the framework to negotiate, resist or submit to the hegemonic Swahili Islam. First, through personhood, the Giriama frame their religious actions and relations with the Swahilis. Their actions are collective and caused by external powers, rather than individualistically bounded and rational actors as the Swahilis. How Arabic in this case is perceived amplify this notion, as Swahilis take it to be accessible via learning and memorizing, and Giriama take it to be accessible through spirit possession by Muslim spirits. This reinforces their submission and lose of identity by adopting Arabic (p. 255). Second, hegemony plays a significant role in shaping how power is lived and replicated in daily life, to be accepted or rejected by the society. Therefore, Giriama attitude towards Swahili Muslims is exhibited in their refusal to submit to Islam and instead cherish their traditionalism, yet they oftentimes acknowledge Islam s power and the potency of Arabic through divination and spirit possession. Third, fractal recursivity is shown through how the Giriama s evident urbanity is opposed to them living on the margins of the city thus closer to the jungle and their ... • 10. The Story Makers The Story Makers Family members can be a person s greatest blessing or his worst nightmare. There are the relatives that can help one accomplish their wildest dreams, and there are those who succeed in spite of their relatives. These two types of relatives are very influential and tend to focus on the important and stressful topics going on in life. Then there are the relatives that inspire the crazy, wonderful memories that are told to grandkids generations later. These relatives are extreme in everything they do and can be classified into three specific types: the Drill Sergeant, the Traditionalist and the Cheek Pincher. The Drill Sergeant plans everything to his or her idea of perfection. In most cases, The Drill Sergeant in the family is a woman. She often suffers from OCBD (obsessive children s behavior disorder) and has a supercilious attitude towards everyone in her family. She pays painstaking attention to the manners of everyone around her and does not shy from pointing out everyone s mistakes. When the Sergeant cooks dinner for the family, the meal is often dull and healthy. She adds no seasoning to her dishes because that would ruin the authenticity of the ingredients. At the dinner table, she stares down each family member to make sure that they not only chew and swallow every single bite, instead of spitting out the meal into their napkins like they desperately want to do; she also expects they will pretend to enjoy the meal with smiles on their faces. • 11. Persian Culture Research Paper The first traces of human settlement in the region date back to the prehistoric period, circa 9000 BCE Persians have survived millenniums of invasions and conquests. Persia was a powerhouse of academic knowledge in ancient times with leaders in astronomy, medicine, mathematics, literature and philosophy. They have left behind not only intricate art objects, but also tools used for smelting and refining pottery, as well as making wine. One of the recent archaeological discoveries claims that the earliest and oldest archaeological finding of winemaking and production comes from an area in Persia called Hajji Firuz Tepe, a Neolithic village site in northern Iran (Ladjevardian 1999, Berkowitz 1996, Ayatollahi 2003, Kessler Associates 1999, BBC ... Iranians also remember that the British and Russian empires exploited them economically, subjugated them politically, and invaded and occupied their country in two World Wars (Ramazani 2009). Through this all, Iran s geographical area and its people identity have remained more or less the same. The vast land three times the size of France and twenty times that of the Czech Republic is demarcated to the North by the Caspian Sea (740 km of coastline) and to the South by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman (2,440 km of coastline). Three fifths of the country, especially the central plateau, lacks the rainfall to sustain permanent agriculture. Farming is confined to rain fed Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, and the Caspian coast, to irrigated villages and oases scattered throughout the county, especially at the foot of the mountain ranges (See Map 1 2) (Abrahamian 2008, p. 1). Iran is a neighbour to seven countries (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan), which makes it a natural crossroad of civilizations and trade flows. Its rich history shows that for many centuries Iran has been a key land bridge between Europe and Asia through the renowned Silk Road and Spice Route (Central Intelligence Agency 2015, Thompson 1983, UNESCO ... Of course, for the platypus, that is obvious because God created all animals uniquely. But the Constitution is a different story. It was the first of its kind. No country had ever attempted a government like it before. So what makes it special? It was the blueprint for a democratic republic, and it actually worked. The Constitution has one main pillar that has supported it for the last 2 centuries. This is its precise balance of the power held by the government. It was the dream I never considered to continue into a career because of stereotypes such as, Few people make enough money from art to sustain themselves. I have experienced countless lessons in my life, but this is the most important one I developed on my own. I am excited and exceedingly proud of my journey to find that belief, the way I discovered it, and what this realization means to me. I believe what you are meant to do in life is what you love most. I have always wanted to be successful, and the drive that pushes me to constantly give my best effort has not dulled. The careers that I wanted to peruse in the past consisted of being a veterinarian, a teacher, an astronomer, an entrepreneur, and a lawyer. I had specific reasons for choosing these careers, but like most occupations that young children choose to pursue, my choices were not what I was truly passionate about. There were also many factors those jobs involved that would make me unhappy, such as being a vet often requires performing surgery and performing vaccinations. It was also based on what my mindset was at the time, for example, how I convinced myself that I was destined to be a lawyer for the sole reason that I was a gifted argurer, which was the equivalent of a moody pre teen. Throughout the entirety of these phases, I created and progressed in art regularly, and I loved it. Furthermore I had talent, and to my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reynolds Industries acquired Nabisco brands in one of the largest takeovers in business history. In earlier years the company was called N.B.C. In 1934 N.B.C. met with the great success when it launched Ritz Crackers as a new prestige item. In 1941 the letters N.B.C. in the official trademark were exchanged for the word Nabisco. The change was part to reduce confusion with the recently established National Broadcasting Company. During World War II Nabisco was again faced with the problem of rationed flour, butter, sugar, and oil. Recipes were altered and substitutes were used. This was a troubled time for Nabisco. During the Depression, Nabisco had neglected many capital improvements, and many bakeries were outdated and in need of renovation. In 1945 the Nabisco board elected the young and energetic George Coopers as president. Due to Coopers new attitude he began to modernize Nabisco s bakeries. Within ten years Coopers had spent more than $150 million renovating old plants and building new ones. • 16. Using Mobile Technology And Its Impact Today s workforce has changed dramatically compared to the past. One aspect of this change is in terms of work life balance, particularly in the realms technological development and globalization, and their combined effect on the modern workforce. These aspects are responsible for the transformation of the traditional work week, especially in fields where the work is done through the use of computers and technologically advanced machinery, as well as jobs that can be relocated in third world countries. The introduction of new technologies such as mobile devices, portables, and the internet has accelerated the work pace to obsession over efficiency and precision. Consequently, this adds pressure on managers and employees, forcing them to take their work home and causing a deterioration in their quality of life. However, the exact degree of this change from the past remains to be well studied and researched. To further evaluate this claim, 11 subjects were interviewed about the use of mobile technology and its impact. These interviews targeted managers of all levels and of different years of experience. These findings are also supported by using the theory of the economist Frederick Herzberg, as well as from Robert Tannenbaum and Warren Schimidt, and other articles and studies done in the business world. • 17. The Effect Of Effective Technology On British Land... In this essay I will be talking about how effective technology was in British land campaigns during the First World War and the Second World War. The first source we are presented with is source E. It is an interpretation of the effectiveness of British generals during the First World War, written by Gary Sheffield in 2001. It s purpose is to show consensus of the interpretations of the generals in the First World War, and to also show his personal interpretation. He is doing this since he is a revisionist. Source E supports the statement because Sheffield uses the word Donkeys to describe the ineffectiveness of the generals during the First World War and to show that the generals may have made mistakes. Overall, this source gives us a bit of information, which both support and dispute the statement. The first part talks about the mistakes made during the First World War, however the second part talks about how weapons were used successfully, this shows that the source is objective. Source F is a primary source of a painting, which was created in WW1 by John Sargent. Sargent was paid by the British government to document the war, so it could be shown to future generations what happened during the First World War. Its purpose it so make the viewer question the morality of using gas and the possible affect it could have on thousands of men. The source supports the statement, by showing the sun setting in the background it symbolises the sacrifice of the wasted life of the men. The source also shows a group of soldiers playing football in the background, this shows us that gas attacks were a frequent thing during the First World War, this shows us that technology was not me to prevent gas attack, overall, supporting the statement. • 18. Good And Evil In Mccarthy s Blood Meridian It is evident, even in the first few pages of this novel, that evil plays a huge role in Blood Meridian. On the first page of this book, McCarthy says ...in him broods already a taste for mindless violence (3). So right from the start, the kids mind was set on evil, not good. There is a similarity in that sentence with the Christian faith. Christians believe that from the very start of human life, everyone has an evil nature. No one is born without sin. The whole reason for needing a Savior is because of man s evil nature. People will search far and wide for something to make them feel whole. Until they find Christ, they will not be fully satisfied. This thought can parallel with everything that the Kid has done. From the start, he had evil intentions in his mind. He searched for someone or something to take that out upon. He found the judge and Glanton, who assisted him in expressing his feelings (the evil and hatred) through violence. He latched on to those who carried his same thoughts and began to act just ... College opens up a new world that individuals must explore in order to make the best of their first year. But no matter what college we attend, our freshman year of college will always have a strong impact on our lives. Over the years as music, technology, television shows, and trends become different, our experiences and memories of freshman year will never change. So when interviewing my Great Aunt Arlene Dudie about her freshman year of college, I visualized her journey and what her experience was like attending Illinois State University beginning in June of 1977. Speaking with her about her life as a college student back in 1977 allowed me to share another amazing moment with her that I will never forget. Honey held great values and was considered a sign of respect. This was shown when honey was given to tribal elders by the hunters. Honey was treated as a highly prized substance, giving as a gift or traded as a valuable product. If this valuable substance was not traded or gifted, aborigines would simply use it to sweeten foods. Referred to as Sugarbag by the aborigines, native honey contains a lot of resin from native trees such as the eucalyptus tree. Due to its value, honey was scavenged for and found in nests located in trees, stumps, rocky crevices and muddy river banks. In order for the aborigines to find native bee hives, hunters would catch foraging bees and attach small pieces of light weight materials such as pieces of feather, spider web or grass to the pollen sacs or resin that was being collected by the bees. ... Beeswax and resin were important for making weaponry. These bee by products were used to fasten pieces of stone to wood. • 30. Juvenile Justice Juvenile justice has traditionally followed a punitive model when faced with young transgressors. Most juvenile justice departments have then also followed this model, creating a system that is in effect not only separate from the community, but also from the family unit. Many juvenile offenders are then physically removed both from their communities and their families to be incarcerated into punitive institutions. According to the Balanced and Restorative Justice model, however, accountability is best encouraged with the direct involvement of both the community and the family unit (U.S. Dept. of Justice). This is also the case with young John Black, whose offense was possession of a fire arm, although this did not lead to any actual harm to others. He is therefore an excellent candidate for family and community based programs, helping him to learn accountability and find his place in society in an effective and productive way. Probation in juvenile justice has a very specific role. The first important thing to keep in mind is the underlying reasons for crimes committed by youth and the importance of distinguishing this from the reasons why adults would engage in criminal activity (King County, 2012). As such, the Juvenile Probation Office regards accountability as important when young people like John commit crimes, but it is also important to prevent further delinquent activity. Whether it be in our watches, or even something like our washing machines, digital counters are found in nearly anything that involves timing (Electronics Hub, 2015). Counters have come a very long way over the years, increasing in both efficiency and complexity. One example of an early counter is the counter developed by Paul Stillman in 1854. This design had a small manual crank which would turn a dial by one digit each time it was cranked. Once the first dial had turned by ten digits, it would then turn the next dial by one digit (in a gradual motion). In 1920, the Veeder Manufacturing Company made a counter that replaced this manual crank, which would only allow for turning the dials one digit at a time, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As these flip flops have a positive edge trigger for the clock input, this means every time the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, it triggers the flip flop, updating the Q output to whatever the D input is, assuming the SET and RESET inputs of the flip flop are both inactive, which they are in this circuit (Digital Electronics, 2014). At the start, the D input will be HIGH, because D is connected to the inverted Q output (PyroElectro, 2013). However, the 555 timer has a HIGH output at the start, but due to the fact the flip flop triggers when the clock input goes from LOW to HIGH, the counter still starts off counting from 0, because it takes one count for the clock to go back to LOW then to HIGH again. As the clock counts, every second count of the previous flip flop will cause the next flip flop to change state. Thinking back to simple binary theory, this makes sense. As a digit in binary is double the previous one, every second time the previous digit changes state, the next digit should change state once. As this is a four bit counter, once the fourth digit changes state from HIGH to LOW, the counter resets, and counts from zero ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They were still expected to be hard workers for the family after marriage, but also be submissive and compliant. In the first 40 years of the 20th century, this became even more enforced. This meant that in 1937, when the Pacific War began, women were discouraged from joining the armed forces. By 1943, Japan was having the same problems as many other countries: so many men in the military were dying, so women had to step up and begin taking over jobs on the homefront. • 35. Difference Between Inductive And Guided Discovery Introduction In this provided chapter, the teaching method is more likely to be the inductive approach to language teaching or learning and deductive approach, or guided discovery. Deductive vs. inductive grammar teaching There are differences between inductive approach and deductive approach. Gollin (1998) stated that the inductive approach applied students to work out what the rules are from examples and find out what the meanings are throughout the given examples or practices whilst the deductive approach happened when teacher gives the explicit rules first. To be more specific, the former refers to working from the general to more specific whereas the latter moving from specific observations to broader generalizations. The concept of discovery techniques in Harmar (1987) is a keeping of what inductive approach which students start with several examples and will be soon asked to generate the rules through their experiences and examples. Upon Harmar s idea, Scrivener (2011) prompt the concept of guided discovery which is activities that allow learners to generate their own discoveries and explanations (Scrivener, 2005). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The enduring nature and extensive range of the debate about dividend policy has spawned a vast amount of literature that grows by the day. For this reason, a full review of all debates is not feasible1. However, this paper endeavours to give justice to the importance of both the topic of dividend policy as an area of financial economic research, and also to the literature that has been produced addressing that topic, by reviewing the most important and influential studies in this area. The remaining of this paper is organized as follows. Section 2 gives a short background of corporate dividend policy. Stephen Jay Gould, a teacher of several subjects at Harvard University, discusses how our brain can play tricks on us in his essay titled Some Close Encounters of a Mental Kind. Although our minds are powerful things, what we see, or remember seeing, can be wrong. Perfect is definitely an adjective my mom would use to describe herself. Her eyesight, on the other hand, is far from satisfactory. When I say that, I don t mean she is in need for glasses, she doesn t see what is actually happening but rather what she wants to see. Every year my family participates in this huge celebration known as the Basque Picnic. My dad and brother are in charge of one of the food items while my grandmother and mom deal with serving. I, on the other hand, am a member of the traditional Basque dancing group that performs at the festival. One year, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
