My favorite author has to be Suzanne Collins. Suzanne was born on August 10, 1962 and is the
youngest of 4 children. In her family history was very important, especially with their father. Their
father would tell his children about the war when he was deployed in Vietnam. She feels it is
important for children to learn history even though it may be gruesome but, it was all real and it
happened. Suzanne graduated college at Indiana University, in 1985 as a double major in theater and
telecommunications. She then went on to earn a master s degree in dramatic writing from New York
University. After all of these she started writing for many children television shows. Many of these
were for Nickelodeon, she also recently was a freelancer for the show Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! Her first
book she wrote, Gregor the Overlander, was published in 2003. This book is about a boy and his
discovery of a new world he finds when he fell through a grate of a laundry room in a New York City
apartment building. This book was the start of a 5 part fantasy/war series, The Underland Chronicles.

In this critical article review, an analysis of Kater s (1981 article Hitler in a Social Context will
examine the strengths and weaknesses of the sociological aspects of Hilter s rise to power during the
Third Reich. Kater s motivation for writing this article is primarily based on the need form of
comprehensive socio historical or sociological evaluation of Hitler, which will define the charismatic
effects of Hitler s leadership in the rise of Nazi power. In a historiographical context, various
biographers and social historians have examined Hitler, but the overarching social background of

literary elements, such as conflict which readers see in both Interpreter of Maladies and A Temporary
Matter . Lahiri shows the difficulty of communication which overtime turn into the destruction of the

concept of Justice, the various forms it takes in the world, and its relevance to the lives of men. As
Socrates states, it is about the way we ought to live (I 352d). The dialogue begins by introducing the
commonly held view of justice, via Thrasymachus, Glaucon and Adeimantus, as the non performance
of certain types of unlawful or antisocial acts. However, the entire treatise quickly moves on to
concentrate on a different meaning of justice, as a form of moral virtue. He wishes to demonstrate that
justice and morality are interconnected because humans can only achieve a good life which he claims
is the best way to live if they have those things that are desirable in themselves (II 357b). Therefore
Plato s argument, as it sets out to prove the intrinsic value of living a just life, is neither deontological,
nor consequentialist. In the Republic, Plato is arguing for the transcendent value of justice as a human

The definition of civilization or whether a culture is considered civilized or not has been argued
throughout the course of history. Groups such as the Mongols, the ethnic groups surrounding the
Roman Empire, and just about every group of people not part of a large, unified, strong empire in
ancient history especially, has been thought of by their superior empire peoples as barbaric and
uncivilized. Through the comparison of Tacitus s Germania, and Sima Qian s Account of the Xiongnu,
it has been established that Tacitus paints a the Germans as a simple, and barbaric uncivilized group of
people, whereas Sima Qian looks at the Xingu as barbarians, but respects them as a power a bit more.
This is in regards to how children are trained, military tactics used, traditional family life, and the
availability and use of resources of these certain ethnic groups. Although there are some similarities
between Tacitus and Sima Qian s portrayal of different ethnic groups, there were also some distinct
differences between the ways both authors portrayed their enemy neighbors. Specifically, Sima Qian
does not try to show his bias of superiority of the Han Chinese Empire as much as Tacitus s more
blatant belief that the Roman Empire is far superior to the Germanic tribes in the north. Stronger

Ken Kesey, the author of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, was inspired to write his novel from his
time working as an orderly at a mental health facility. He often experimented with LSD and his
documented drug use provided a realistic perspective of a mental patient. It is almost as if Kesey is an
anti hero himself; in order to achieve a different point of view, being that of a mental patient, and write
a spectacular book, he broke the law by taking drugs. Ken Kesey portrayed the main character,
McMurphy, as an anti hero. Throughout the essay, different aspects of McMurphy s anti heroism will
be explored by comparing the character with other fictional anti heroes, such as Achilles, Jack
Sparrow and Huckleberry Finn. In One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, R.P. McMurphy is portrayed as
an anti hero, as he chose to live his mortal life on his own terms, opposed to sticking by the rules of
society. The excessive pride and self confidence that McMurphy possessed, knowing that no one could
stop him, lead to his eventual downfall, similar to the life of Achilles. It appeared as though
McMurphy and Achilles were immortal, yet what made them human was the certainty that they would
one day die. As Achilles once stated everything is more beautiful because we re doomed . McMurphy
was able to escape a Chinese prison and break Nurse Ratched and Achilles is known as one of the
greatest Greek warriors. Both of the characters actions create the impression they were unstoppable;
although they were eventually conquered by death, both seemingly for a cause. These characters had
different intentions; Achilles chose death over life in order to gain the glory of being remembered
forever, whereas McMurphy died for the men in the institute. Nurse Ratched baits McMurphy to
breaking point, providing an excuse for his lobotomy. She does this in order to retain her power but by
the time McMurphy dies, she had lost her power in the process due to his actions. This realisation is
what freed the boys. McMurphy is portrayed as an anti hero, much like Achilles, as he died for a
cause, which was for the patients to realise that Nurse Ratched didn t necessarily hold all the power.
