The Secession In Michigan
Secession in Michigan Yooperland, Da U.P., and Yoopsconsin, are just some of the names that the
residents of Michigan s Upper Peninsula refer to as home. There have been many conversations
throughout the years about the secession between the Yoopers in the U.P. and the Trolls down in Da
Mitten. Dating back as far as 1836, a time when Michigan had won the U.P. by losing the Toledo Strip
in the Toledo War, the talk of secession is nothing new. To change an economic lifestyle would be
difficult, but the rewards and benefits could be astonishing. A vote for secession would help the Upper
Peninsula become a free and independent state in our country. With Lansing as Michigan s capitol and
legislature, events and laws made there run the lives of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1975, a little over a century since the Toledo war was over, Dominic Jacobetti of Marquette County
reopened the idea of Michigan secession after discussing the decline of state aid money for schools.
With that in mind, the severance tax that would also be put on mines in the U.P., causes fear in
Marquette County because it could result in the loss of money given to schools and municipalities
from Kennecott Eagle Co. mine in Michigamme (Ellison). I ve heard about that U.P. get most of its
money for schools from downstate to help support the big names like NMU or MTU. If the U.P. were
to secede, what happens to these schools? How will we be able to afford them? My idea around it is,
these schools are tremendous in academics and attract students from all over the world, leading me to
believe that with secession, the schools would be able to pay for themselves pretty

The Key to Being a Vegan
For hundreds of thousands of years humans were hunter gatherers, living off the sources of the land
for necessity. Only ten thousand years ago did the human species discover agriculture and the
domestication of other species. The welfare of domesticated animals, used for their exploitation of
products, has drastically diminished since the industrial revolution. Animals are now able to be mass
slaughtered and crammed by the hundreds into cold, metal buildings, quite opposite to their natural
habitat of grass covered feels. Not only are the animals being exploited in horrendous conditions, they
are fed better than the eight hundred and fifty million people in the world how are suffering from
severe undernourishment (worldhunger.org). The animal agriculture business accounts for a staggering
fifty one percent of the greenhouse gas emissions every year (peta.org). With the all the astounding
information on the topic of inhumanity in the animal exploitation world, has left people with the
question, Is cutting out animal bi products worth it? There is a small, yet growing, number of people
who have agreed to cut out any and all animal bi products, be that in food, cosmetology, or fashion.
Individuals who have taken the pledge of veganism can be comforted in their health, ethics, and
humanity. The key to a healthy, nutritionally sound vegan diet is variety. A healthy vegan diet consists
of fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, whole grains, seeds, and legumes

Prenatal Alcohol Exposure And Childhood Behavior At Age 6
Ashley Avalos. PSY 230 Fall 2016 PAPER ASSIGNMENT, REVIEW OF ARTICLE #1
Article.
Sood, B. Delaney Black, V. (2001). Prenatal Alcohol Exposure and Childhood Behavior at Age 6 to 7
Years: I. Dose Response Effect.
Research Question. The main research question proposed in this study: 1) does alcohol affect children
prenatally. The hypothesis that researchers draw is if there are adverse effects of children who were
exposed to a low dosage of alcohol at the age of 6 to 7 years of age. This study wanted to find the
amount of alcohol it would take for children to exhibit problem behaviors. Sample. The focus of this
study were primarily black females within the Detroit University hospital. There is an uneven balance
between racial groups because 90% of woman who go to this hospital are black. Participants had been
screened during their pregnancy for alcohol, cocaine, tobacco, and other drugs that they could have
used during this time. Also, time frame at which participants had to have given birth was between
September 1, 1989, and August 31, 1991. Follow ups were intensively sought after by phone, mailing
address, or if necessary, directly to the front door of the participant. There was no response rate clearly
stated. During the final study conducted, of the 664 participants, 94% of them agreed to be in the
study. Additionally, participants who had missed previous testing appointments, had congenital
malformations other than fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) were excluded

Stereotypes Of Arranged Marriages
Arranged marriages are traditional in Africa, South east Asia, The Middle East and Latin America.
Due to migration the practice has been extended today to western world countries. Many families
choose their daughters husbands according to wealth, so converting the woman into a tradable good.
Arranged marriage is a marital union where a third party matches the bride and the groom; arranged
marriages were common globally until the 18th century. In modern times, arranged marriages are
common in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. In more developed countries,
arranged marriages are still common in royal families, various parts of Japan, and in minority ethnic
groups.

she was genuinely concerned for the prostitute. According to me, fieldwork is a tremendously difficult
and challenging work area because one has to essentially go out and ultimately get their hands filthy

prostitutes had to such as: pimps, crack heads, other prostitutes, vulgar clients, and the horrible

Happiness Is A Personal And Multi Dimensional Notion
Happiness is usually expressed as the point to which an individual assesses the total worth of his or
her existence as a whole positively (Veenhoven, 1993), and regularly, considered on an ordinal scale
of answers to biased questions. Most experimental findings consume various kinds of self reported
ideals on happiness or particular well being dignified from various scaling methods. Happiness is a
personal and multi dimensional notion every distinct person depicts it in a diverse way, it is
comparative, and it is determine by an extensive range of influences, involving individual
personalities. Consequently, allowing it to be assessable and creating causal relationships a task. The
information and experimental studies distinguish between the natures of happiness and noticing the
connected expressions life s satisfaction and well being. The explanations of recognised ideas overlap
through the proposal on happiness and are separated into numerous categories. In this study, the main
ideas associated to happiness and their factors are shortened in order to pinpoint the major distinctions
between the suggested terms and to determine the theoretical agenda. The pursuit for happiness is
significant and is a must to human beings. It is a situation that majority of people attempt to
accomplish. Many of us can account, at least at some phase of our existent, being happy. We all strive
to live happy and fulfil our lives and want happiness for people that we love. So happiness

The Importance Of Math And Science
In order to be who you are, you must be willing to let go of who you think you are Daily Peace by
National Geographic, quote from Michael Singer People often have preconceived notions about who
they are. These ideas are usually detrimental, because these perceptions can cloud one s vision,
causing them to lose sight of who they are. All my life I have adored science and math. Ever since I
was four years old I knew I wanted to be a scientist. In addition to science, I loved writing picture
books (especially about a friendly Tyrannosaurus Rex named Katie), singing, and composing songs on
my little electric piano. However, in middle school, people began trying to figure out who they are and
what their purpose is in the world. My classmates all began discussing whether they were math and
science people, language people, or artsy people. I was not a fan of this discussion. Why couldn t I be
all three? I figured that I would eventually have to decide what I preferred when it was time for me to
get a job, so I decided that I would simply pick my favorite. Thus, I became a self identified math and
science person. I told myself that this didn t mean that I had to quit music or writing. I could always
write and sing as a hobby. I first read this quote on January 31, 2017, halfway through my junior year,
the year everyone must figure out who they are and figure it out quickly. I couldn t get this quote out
of my mind as I started pondering whether I am a math and science person or

Lydia Davis And Marge Piercy
The human species is strange. And it is very hard for one to understand another, yet it is harder for a
human to understand oneself. Lydia Davis and Marge Piercy use Head, Heart and Barbie Doll to
express to readers two different internal struggles that people have. Davis and Piercy both use strong
diction to express the internal fights that humanity has within themselves. Both Davis and Piercy also
use free verse to tell their poems and to get their point across. In Head, Heart , Lydia Davis gets right
to the point with her poem. Her poem is only ten lines long but in those ten lines she uses short
sentences and multiple forms of punctuation. In Head, Heart , Davis writes about the internal fight
between the speakers heart and the speakers head. Davis uses metonymy in her writing. The head to
portray reason and the heart to portray emotion. She writes about how the head is trying to comfort the
broken heart by telling the heart that there will be others and that You will lose the ones you love.
(Davis line 4) The writer uses a conflict between emotion and reason. ... Show more content on

In Barbie Doll , the speaker is fighting herself with accepting who she really is versus who society
wants her to be. Piercy uses exaggerated diction and is very sarcastic with her writing. This shows
readers that it is a silly thing to feel so unaccepted because of physical appearance but the reality of it
is that these things do actually happen to people. And this is a major issue in society as a whole. The
writer tells a story of a girl who is born just like any other girl but grows into this body that is so

Analysis of the Film Inside Man Essay
Patrick Carruthers Neupert Film Studies
The True Inside Man Inside Man was released in 2006 and would later become the highest grossing
film for the director Spike Lee. The film is a crime drama, located primarily in a bank in New York
City run by multi billionaire Arthur Case. Although the film is a thriller and contains bits of action and
suspense, the movie focuses heavily on the difference between good and evil. The movie begins with a
shot in medias res of Clive Owen s character Dalton Russell explaining the difference between being
stuck in a tiny cell and being in prison while he moves around a small room ... Show more content on

As the film unfolds, the audience learns that although there were financial morals fueling the master
plan, there was also the desire to bring justice upon a man that had betrayed and cheated his way to the
top, thus giving the audience a sense of righteousness in what Russell was doing. Russell had become
not only the man literally inside the bank, but inside the lies of Case with the means to expose them.
This alignment serves to form a sort of paradoxical allegiance in which although the audience
understands he is the leader of a criminal group, he is also uncovering the secrets of an evil man and
thus somewhat proving his innocence. This same allegiance causes the audience to enjoy the
conclusion, both out of respect for the intelligence of the plan and because of his ability to escape with
the documents and potentially to uncover the awful past of Arthur Case. Although Ms. White s
thoughts are never truly expressed in the film, she plays a huge role in the formation of the plot.
Recognition of Ms. White comes easily for the fact that she is a woman, and she is of power. An
important aspect of her appearance is her clothing, being that in every shot she is shown wearing
formal clothing and more importantly; heels. The clothing and heels serve to portray her as an

Klamath Exhibit Analysis
The talk on Friday was given by Brittani Orana who is a Hupa tribal member and the curator of the
exhibit. The exhibit is a tribute to the struggles that the tribes of the Klamath river have been thru and
also serves to show that their culture and practices still live on today. The exhibit included historical
and modern photos as well painting and posters from the protest for dam removal. The exhibit is full
of item representing the memories of tribal members and the hardships they have had it face. A lot of
the inspiration for the exhibit came from her experiences as a tanager during the 2002 fish kill and the
protest. She felt that people needed to preserve the memories of that important time for the tribes. The
exhibit consisted of to parts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These challenges include dangerously low water levels to do diversion for farming and overheated
water. These things where both cause by the dams on the Klamath. These factors were part of what
caused the fish kill in 2002. Klamath was also polluted from the dams and was causing the tribes to
get sick. The dams where causing a buildup of toxic algae which made the Klamath un safe to swim
in. This effected the tribes more than most as they use the river in their ceremonies. This on top of the
fish kill was what spared the protest. Thanks to those protest dams were to be put up for removal those
dams include J.C. Boyle, CopCo 1 2, and the Iron Gate. These agreements were reached in 2010 and
would have had the dams removed by 2020. The other big par to the exhibit was the interview which
were from tribal members as well as activist. There where tribal members from Yurok, Karuk, and
Hupa interviewed as well as some of the main activist involved in the protest. Unfortunately, I did not
get to see most of these interviews as I was not able to stay after the talk. But from the talk I was able

Business And Limited Liability Company
Business can be run through different platform considering advantages the platform will offer. Limited
liability Company is chosen over general partnership to be more advantageous. Limited Liability
Company and general partnership are compared based on flexibility of business, continuity of
business in case of transfer of ownership, and also the risk of possession of personal assets and risk of
incurring business debt. 1.0 INTRODUCTION New business with more than single owner may
consider being Limited Liability Company or general partnership. General partnership requires two or
more people to agree to own and run a company for profit where management duties are shared
among them including profits and loss. In contrast, a single member can own, manage and operate
Limited Liability Company. A limited liability company with single owner can easily set up business
strategies and guidelines without getting approval from anybody. General partnerships are not
mandated to be registered with Registrar of companies. Partners are expected to disclose information
to one another according to The Partnership act 1890 which applies to general partnership. Limited
Liability Company is treated as a separate legal entity according to companies Act 1985. General

The Four Temperaments Of The Keirsey Sorter
Describe the four temperaments of the Keirsey Sorter
The Keirsey Temperament Sorter (KTS) is a self assessed questionnaire that is intended to help people
understand the personality of others and themselves. Embracing the ideas of ancient Greeks, Keirsey
developed the Temperament Sorter. He was intrigued by the work Kretschmer and Sheldon in the late
1940s, which comprised of the study of the human physique and criminality (Kretschmer, 1970).
Finally, Keirsey was introduced to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in the late 50 s and
developed the modern temperament sorter, known at the Keirsey Temperament Sorter (Keirsey, 1994).
The KTS and MBTI are closely associated as two personality questionnaires but Myers types groups

indicators; Supervisors (ESTJ), Inspectors (ISTJ), Provider (ESFJ), and Protector (ISFJ). Each
subcategory that represents the Guardian temperament has a strong conviction of probability and
structure in common. They tend to feel accomplished when they get things accomplished and meeting
expectations of others.
The second temperament is the Artisan. Artisans are creative, optimistic and spontaneous. They are
adventurous and seek all kinds of stimulation. Within this temperament there are four subcategories
which are associated to the Myers Briggs type indicators; Promoter (ESTP), Crafter (ISTP), Performer

The third temperament is the Idealist. This temperament strives in personal growth and development.
They are enthusiastic and want meaningful relationships. Within this temperament there are four

Essay On The Us Constitution And The Bill Of Rights
The U.S Constitution and the Bill of Rights are iconic pieces of American History. These two
documents are very important for every American to know and to read critically because it can highly
affect them. However, there are many people in the country that do not know what is exactly in these
documents. I have read through these pieces, and I will be discussing what I found to be most
surprising to find in the piece. Also, the items that I expected to find in the documents that is not there.
Firstly, I will begin with the Constitution. After reading the Constitution, there were many things that I
was shocked to see in there. The first one was in Article 1, section 2. While I knew it mentioned the

at the end of Article VII, there is a note of all the mistakes made in the piece, this includes, The Word,

first I was very confused as to what exactly those lines meant. However, I feel like that is a nice touch
to keep because it is a reminder of the actual document. In similar fashion, I took a look at the Bill of
Rights. After reviewing the Bill of Rights, there were many things I was surprised to see. The first one
I will start with is the Second Amendment, which states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to
the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. I knew
the Second Amendment gave everyone the right to bear arms, but I did not know it established a well
regulated army for the United States, as well. Everyone around me has just discussed about being able

A Report On The Free Piston Stirling
There are two types of Stirling engines to be considered the kinematic engine and the free piston
engine. Most of the military missions would use Lhe kinematic Stirling that produces mechanical
work directly; and this is the one that has received nearly all the development work to date. The free
piston Stirling is a sealed engine which uses a magnetized power piston to activate alternator coils
outside the pressure walls of the engine, thus producing an electrical output. This configuration avoids
the working fluid leakage problems associated with the moving seals in a kinematic engine, but may
be somewhat less efficient. GENERATOR SETS (MOBILE Electrical power) General Purpose Sets
There are a wide variety of military needs for portable gcneration of electric power to support
weapons systems, communications, housekeeping power, environmental control, and many other
functions. In order to avoid proliferation of makes, models, and sizes, a DoD Standard Family of
Mobile Electric Power Sets has been established from which all users of electric power in the field
must choose to support their system requirements. This family is shown in Table ES 2. It will be noted
that while the power range is 0.5 to 750 kilowatts (kw), the majority of sets are in the 1.5 to 60 kw
range, with the smaller end of the range (under 15 kw) being most numerous. With the exception of
the very small power range, all the engines used are commercially available diesel engines, and there

Neurone Function Essay
Membrane proteins are found in all cell membranes and it is these that determine the majority of the
membranes functions. There are often two types of membrane protein and these can be classified as
integral proteins and peripheral proteins. Integral proteins are situated in the hydrophobic interior part
of the phospholipid bilayer and can have hydrophilic channels that allow the passage of hydrophilic
substances across the membrane. Where as, peripheral proteins are not embedded in the bilayer at all
and are instead loosely bound to the surface of the membrane. Neurons are the basic units of the
nervous system and are involved in the transmission of impulses to all different parts of the body.
Membrane proteins are of great importance when it comes to considering the function of neurones
within the body, as many of the processes that occur would not be possible without the action of
proteins.
One of the key ways that membrane proteins are involved in neurone function is through the
formation of the resting potential. The resting potential is the charge difference across a cell
membrane when a neurone is at rest and not sending a signal, typically between 60 and 80 millivolts.
Potassium and Sodium ions play a fundamental role in the formation of the resting potential (Professor
Sandidge/Moyle, 2012) and these ions each have a concentration gradient across the membrane of a
neuron. In the majority of neurones, the concentration of potassium is greater inside the cell,

Behavior Plan for Violence in a 1st Grade Class
Through the last two weeks I noticed some behavioral changes in my first grade class; to be more
specific I noticed increased rate of violence, increased rate of conflicts, increased rate of complains
from two students, increased rate of bulling and increased rate of crying and screaming.
So, I decided to schedule a set of observations for the whole class and other specific observations for
the 2 students from which I received most of the complains to go deeper in to details and know the
reason behind these symptoms to be able to solve the situation, as one of my roles is to maintain the
emotional health of the students and create an emotionally balanced environment to go through
learning process smoothly.
I noticed that most of these behaviors are during recess time or PE session so I decided to attend all
the recesses and the PE sessions to observe the two students. Mean while we will be observing the
whole class.
I have a relativity small class with almost balanced ratio of girls and boys as I have 9 students (5 girls
and 4 boys) with narrow age range 6 7 years old .They are all Egyptians with no special needs
students in class.
As I mentioned before I will observe the students in both the recess and PE sessions. Both take place
in the play ground; it is divided into three areas: green area, shaded area and sand pit. Play ground

Summary Of Letting Go By Atul Gawande
Letting Go by Atul Gawande provides an intriguing perspective on people s stubborn expectations
from the healthcare system. What should medicine do when it can t save your life? Most everyone
seems to believe they should fight to the bitter end, until they can t possibly have anymore tubes
coming out of them or medications going in. Gawande suggests that state of being is no longer living,
so he raises the question of why people do it to themselves or their families. Gawande also provides
the benefits of hospice care such as discontinuing medications. When patients stop fighting and start
accepting the time they have, they gain more. This concept made me wonder about myself and what
types of treatment I ll choose for myself one day. Will I

Gospel Is The Good News
The word gospel is derived from Old English meaning good news or glad tidings . The Greek word
euangelion which means good message is the the source for the word evangelist. 1.
Mark s Gospel, now considered the first of the synoptic gospels makes no delay in the identification of
who this man, Jesus, is. He is the Messiah, the anointed one, from the Greek word Christos. From the
very first verse of this Gospel, the evangelist knows and proclaims who Jesus is: the Messiah, the Son
of God. 2. Now this evangelist will, through his Gospel, begin a discourse which will allow all the
characters from the disciples to the centurion to realize that Surely, this was the Son of God. Mark 15:

Jesus authority to forgive sins is central to the good news. However, for Mark it is more than
forgiveness. John baptized with water, but the good news of Jesus coming is that he will baptize with
the Holy Spirit which is proclaimed by John the Baptist in verse 8. 7. When Jesus heals the paralyzed
man and then tells him that his sins are forgiven the teachers of the law are incredulous. This is part of
the good news. Jesus has the power to forgive sins however upsetting it is to the religious
establishment.
Mark 1:15 goes up to say to believe in the good news. Belief, faith, is the core of the good news. Mark
9:23 sums it best: Everything is possible for one who believes . Mark 11: 24; Therefore I tell you
whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours . Jesus also shows
the healing power of faith in Mark 2:5,34 and 10:52 as he heals the paralytic man and the woman who
touched his clothes wishing to be healed. He teaches us a valuable lesson in that it was their faith that
healed them which should be an example for us today.
Another motif which is sewn in the fabric of the good news is what William Loder calls the radical
inclusiveness of Jesus or simply put we are all part of God s kingdom . 8. He enlists fisherman, a tax

Child s Real Time Referential Processing Development
Introduction Language processing has been a largely studied area of research over the past _ years.
More recently, studies have looked into real time referential processing abilities in children in order to
understand how processing works as well as what contributes to levels of efficiency. Some factors that
effect proficiency of this ability includes exposure to infant directed speech, onset of exposure to first
language, socioeconomic status, as well as various individual differences such as language
impairments and/or deafness. This paper strives to collect supporting ideas of what factors contribute
to a child s real time referential processing development. Exposure to Language In some cultures,
around the world, it is common to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The findings support that experiencing language fosters development of vocabulary through positively
influenced processing efficiency. It has also been seen that children from higher socioeconomic status
families show greater interaction and exposure to language which leads to larger vocabularies as well
as efficient real time processing (Fernald, A., Marchman, V. A., Weisleder, A., 2013). Ultimately,
children who are more exposed to speech are able to interpret words, create mental lexicon
representations leading them to be able to familiarize with words quicker and with better accuracy
during speech in real time. This ability later shows rapid growth in vocabulary. (Weisleder et al., 2013)
The looking while listening test is a good resource, however in some cases this test cannot be used.
Such reasons arise in the assessment of deaf children that heavily rely on ASL signs as their primary
tool for communication. Spoken language learning processes require visual and auditory modalities
where as comprehension and processing of sign language requires visual attention to real world
referents as well as attention to visual linguistic signs (Lieberman et al., 2015). Lieberman et al.
(2015) at the University of California looked at real time processing in ASL signs and finds evidence
to support that when deaf children are exposed to ASL from birth, they are developing sub lexical
features within their

Short Story Morg The Greatest Inventors Of All Time
Garret Morgan is easily one of the greatest inventors of all time. Morgan was born on March 4, 1877,
in Paris, Kentucky to two former slaves Sydney Morgan and Elizabeth Reed Morgan. Morgan left his
home at the age of fourteen and ended up in Ohio, where began to work finding odd jobs till he was
able to save up enough money and start a business of his own. Morgan opened his own tailoring shop
where he fixed sewing machines, and he eventually expanded it to clothing made from the sewing
machines he built. Garret Morgan loved working with his hands and experimenting with new
machines and products. In 1912 Morgan developed the safety hood which would eventually be known
as the gas mask, it had a hood with an insert for fresh air and an exit for exhaled air; it was also
connected to a tube in the back, which was an open end that contained a water soaked sponge, the
sponge would filter out smoke and so fresh air could get in. Because Garret Morgan was African
American, the gas mask was not widely accepted, particularly in the south. Garret had to hire a white
male to pose as the inventor of the safety hood; he himself would act as a test dummy during the
presentations of the product. This worked in Morgan s favor the presentations skyrocketed the sales of
the safety hood, especially among police and firefighters.
The great importance of the safety hood was not fully understood until 1916 when workers building a
tunnel in Lake Erie hit a pocket of natural gas, this caused an

The Last Mohicans
The Last of the Mohicans Essay Everyone knows the famously old Arabic proverb, The enemy of my
enemy is my friend and how it demonstrates itself in various points throughout history. The movie The
Last Mohicans , which based of the bloody true event of the French and Indian War in 1757, is
certainly no exception. The film portrays the interactions, as well as relationships between the two
Native American tribes, the French, and the English. In the beginning, there was no separation of
which tribe was which. Due to the lack of identification, there was no distinction of tribes until the
main Huron, Magua, led the British troop into a Huron ambush while escorting them to the Fort.
Unlike their peaceful comparison tribe, the Mohicans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite having a somewhat uncertain alliance, the Natives treated the soldiers with respect, even
referring to commanders as their English Fathers . Frontiersmen, or colonists, also were also honored,
due to the tight bond they shared with the tribe in everyday life. In comparison to the vengeful enemy,
the small tribe acted on keeping the English colonists, as well as the military, safe from the French and
their ally. To counteract the quiet ambush style of the Hurons, many survival techniques such as
walking along a waterfall to mask the sound of movement were shown to the few English to conceal
their position. These procedures kept the few still standing English alive, without the tops of their
heads cut off (for the time being). Albeit most interactions were positive, some were going against the
unwritten alliance. Seeing many colonists houses decimated and the inhabitants killed, it was
understandable for the men to want to get back home and defend the remaining frontier homes.
However, the English commanders would not allow them to return home to defend their own land, as
previously promised. Seeing them so desperate and witnessing the horrors of what the Hurons could
do, the Mohicans decided to help the colonists escape from the Fort, but for a price. Considered to
now to be traitors, the English captains took them prisoner in hand bindings, as if they had not saved
them from certain death from French soldiers and Huron tribesmen countless of times. Overall, the
relationship was mostly beneficial for the English, whereas the Mohicans only really prevented
themselves from becoming prisoners of the king

Review Of Robert Mundell s Trilemma Essay
Section I: Exchange Rates Paper
Robert Mundell s Trilemma, also known as the Impossible Trinity, states that a nation cannot realize
monetary policy autonomy, free capital movements, and exchange rate stability at the same time.
While either of the two goals can combine and actualize in any given period, as a simultaneous and
three fold effort, each objective cannot coexist. Together they are simply incompatible. Thus, and
holding true to the tradeoff nature of economics, Mundell s undisputed theory illustrates that in order
for a nation to attain its preferred monetary goals it must give up one desired option. Nevertheless, it is
no easy decision. Before any resolution is made, nations must invest substantial time and energy into
understanding the consequences at stake because the policies that they do deicide to implement are not
only felt at a national or international level but personally amongst those that they govern.
To exemplify the tradeoffs that define the Trilemma s policy combinations, consider a nation with a
long history of high inflation and a central bank that has limited credibility. Bearing in mind that low
inflation is a primary macroeconomic goal amongst world powers and likened to symbolize economic
stability, would not the aim of the nation be to promote steady financial growth through deflation?
And while the costs of inflation are substantially high on their own, when coupled with uncertainty
produced by an unreliable central bank the costs are only

A History of the World in 6 Glasses by Tom Standage is a non fiction historical novel, whose main
purpose is to show the surprisingly pervasive influence of certain drinks on the course of history. Then
it takes the reader on a journey through time to show the history of mankind through the lens of
beverages. The thesis of the novel is that through history certain specialty beverages have affected

Coffee quickly became the drink of intellect and industry being known to sharpen the mind. Taverns
were replaced with a more sophisticated meeting place, the coffeehouse. These led to the
establishment of scientific societies and financial institutions, the founding of newspapers, and
provided fertile ground for revolutionary thought. [4] Once established as England s national drink,
tea imports from first China and India led to massive trade. The book describes the power of the
British East India Company, which generated more revenue than the British government and ruled
over far more people,
wielding more power than any other corporation in history. [5] This imbalance of power had an
enormous effect on British foreign policy, and led to the independence of the U.S. Like most of the
drinks discussed in this novel, Coca Cola was originally devised as a medical drink. More than any
other product, Coca Cola has stood as the symbol of America s vibrant consumer capitalism. [4]
Rather than shrink at the challenge, Coca Cola took full advantage of the challenging times it found
itself in, gaining ground through the depression, and then traveling alongside our soldiers into WWII,
becoming a global phenomenon. A History of the World in 6 Glasses is very useful and beneficial to
the AP World History curriculum. In a teaching course, the teacher could assign a chapter of reading

Essay On Presbycusis
Please answer these questions as thoroughly as you possibly can.
1. Please describe presbycusis of the cochlea giving the types and the anatomical site effect and the
implications.
Presbycusis is an acquired hearing loss associated with aging. There are four types of presbycusis:
sensory presbycusis, neural presbycusis, metabolic presbycusis, and mechanical presbycusis. Sensory
presbycusis occurs as a result of damage to the outer hair cells and inner hair cells of the organ of
Corti. More damage is noted with the outer hair cells than the inner hair cells. Speech discrimination is
typically normal in this population because the hearing loss is typically confined to high frequencies.
Neural presbycusis affects hearing all frequencies of pure tones. The hearing loss associated with this
type of presbycusis increases as the frequency of the sound increases. Speech discrimination is
approximately 60% accurate. Neural presbycusis is degeneration of the spiral ganglion and the loss of
auditory neurons throughout the cochlea and auditory pathways. Neural presbycusis is not evident
until the number of normally functioning neurons fall below a critical minimum. The impact of this
type of presbycusis varies in age of onset and severity. It is also thought to be simultaneous with
phonemic regression. Phonemic regression occurs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

degeneration in stria vascularis is directly related to the magnitude of the hearing loss. Patients with
metabolic presbycusis commonly have very good speech recognition

The teens walk in collectively, laughing and kidding about the things teens laugh and kid about. The

The Pros And Cons Of Forgiveness
According to Mc CuUough, Pargament, Thoresen, 2000, social scientists have adopted many
conceptualization of forgiveness, alternatively characterizing the construct as an emotion, a decision, a
behaviour, and a motivational change. According to Worthington (2001), Forgiveness is defined as the
emotional replacement of (1) hot emotions of anger or fear that follow a perceived hurt or offense, or
(2) unforgiveness that follows ruminating about the transgression, by substituting positive emotions
such as unselfish love, empathy, compassion, or even romantic love.

Pro and Cons of Forgiveness
We can gain some benefits from forgiveness. One of the benefits of forgiveness is that it is good for
our heart. This is because when we try to forgive other people, we can train our heart to be more
patience when we are dealing in some issues in our daily life. Besides that, forgiveness also can
always train us to be more forgiven people rather than someone who hold revenge towards others,
which is not good for our heart. It can cause the hatred within our heart. According to Siromi (2012),
forgiveness reflects our heart attitude towards God and the person who sinned.
In this context, we can forgive, because there are two components to forgiveness which is attitudinal
and transactional. Before we approach the person who sinned against us, we must approach God and
battle to have a forgiving and merciful heart. To forgive someone, we really need to be sincere so that
there would not be revenge that particular individual. We have to make sure that our heart is ready to
forgive that person and we really mean it. Thus, we will be very easy and the peaceful finally be with
us. Our heart will be in peace because there is no more hatred and we can go through our life happily.
So, the forgiveness is really good for our heart. It trains us to be more patient in order to deal with
person who did wrong to us. It also gives us a mercy heart so that there will be no revenge between

even religions have been created by men and for men and they have great opposition to women
infiltrating their management positions. Men have created glass ceilings for women in the workplace.
A glass ceiling is an artificial barrier that allows women to see the top of the corporate ladder, but at
the same time denies them access to the higher rungs of that ladder. Women keep hitting their heads

Women do most of the invisible work in Corporate America. If this work were made visible, men in
Corporate America would not receive all the glory for the jobs they have. As you see, educational
attainment is a key ingredient to shattering the glass.
Women are beginning to see that the best way to get to the top of any type of business is to create their
own business. In women owned businesses today, the women seem to accept any business background
shortcomings and seek education and training before they take the leap. Women try to base their
decisions on logic and on sound business decisions. They do not seem to shoot from the hip the way
many men do in the business world. In corporations that have dared to hire today s businesswoman, it
seems these women officials are easier to work with in a consensus team building environment.
Women tend to offer higher wages to their employees and fight for better benefits for them as well.
Women know the need for flexible hours, childcare, and better insurance. All in all, it seems that
women understand the problems of their employees. They work hard to be number one and in turn
make their employees feel like they are number one to them.
In most corporations today, the glass ceiling goes unnoticed and certainly unquestioned. Corporations
boast of being a great place for women to work, but women are always middle management, not

Weapons Trafficking in Somalia Essay
Weapons trafficking in Somalia is a complex issue with global implications. Extremist organizations,
such as Al Shabaab, appear to be the primary beneficiary to the unrestricted flow of weapons and use
them to achieve their objectives. Furthermore, the availability of weapons, particularly that of small
arms, compromises regional stability and undermines United States strategy. The purpose of this paper
is to address the significance of the arms trafficking network in Somalia by examining the culture in
which it thrives, the motivation of Al Shabaab to obtain them, the sources of illegal arms, and the
United States point of view.

Somalis also have one of the lowest school enrollment rates in the world. Only 20% of primary school
age and 6% secondary school age Somalis are enrolled in school. These numbers contribute to low
literacy, about 37% in adults (TCC, 2011).
The impact
Somalia is a frightening case as all of the individual factors contributing to national instability are
cyclical and compounding. If an effective government is the main pillar supporting all aspects of a
country, then in Somalia, this pillar crumbled in 1991 and has yet to be rebuilt on asolid foundation.
Somali National Security Forces (SNSF) and police forces are ineffective at enforcing law and
providing security at the borders and for the people. According to a United Nations Security Council
(UNSC) report, the SNSF target innocent Somalis through extortion during their operations (UNSC,
2013). In result, Somalia is incapable of attacking the humanitarian catastrophe from within. Somalis
survival of the fittest philosophy and lack of education further separates people from the government.
Somali options
If culture is adaptive behavior in response to their environment, outside in analysis suggests that
Somalis have four viable options of self preservation. The first option is to leave Somalia. This is a
popular choice among many Somalis as the number of refugees fleeing into neighboring countries
rises exponentially each year. The second

The welfare of domesticated animals, used for their exploitation of products, has drastically diminished since the industrial revolution. Animals are now able to be mass slaughtered and crammed by the hundreds into cold, metal buildings, quite opposite to their natural habitat of grass covered feels. Not only are the animals being exploited in horrendous conditions, they are fed better than the eight hundred and fifty million people in the world how are suffering from severe undernourishment (worldhunger.org). The animal agriculture business accounts for a staggering fifty one percent of the greenhouse gas emissions every year (peta.org). With the all the astounding information on the topic of inhumanity in the animal exploitation world, has left people with the question, Is cutting out animal bi products worth it? There is a small, yet growing, number of people who have agreed to cut out any and all animal bi products, be that in food, cosmetology, or fashion. Individuals who have taken the pledge of veganism can be comforted in their health, ethics, and humanity. The key to a healthy, nutritionally sound vegan diet is variety. • 8. The Importance Of Math And Science In order to be who you are, you must be willing to let go of who you think you are Daily Peace by National Geographic, quote from Michael Singer People often have preconceived notions about who they are. These ideas are usually detrimental, because these perceptions can cloud one s vision, causing them to lose sight of who they are. All my life I have adored science and math. Ever since I was four years old I knew I wanted to be a scientist. In addition to science, I loved writing picture books (especially about a friendly Tyrannosaurus Rex named Katie), singing, and composing songs on my little electric piano. However, in middle school, people began trying to figure out who they are and what their purpose is in the world. My classmates all began discussing whether they were math and science people, language people, or artsy people. I was not a fan of this discussion. Why couldn t I be all three? I figured that I would eventually have to decide what I preferred when it was time for me to get a job, so I decided that I would simply pick my favorite. Thus, I became a self identified math and science person. I told myself that this didn t mean that I had to quit music or writing. I could always write and sing as a hobby. I first read this quote on January 31, 2017, halfway through my junior year, the year everyone must figure out who they are and figure it out quickly. I couldn t get this quote out of my mind as I started pondering whether I am a math and science person or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lydia Davis and Marge Piercy use Head, Heart and Barbie Doll to express to readers two different internal struggles that people have. Davis and Piercy both use strong diction to express the internal fights that humanity has within themselves. Both Davis and Piercy also use free verse to tell their poems and to get their point across. In Head, Heart , Lydia Davis gets right to the point with her poem. Her poem is only ten lines long but in those ten lines she uses short sentences and multiple forms of punctuation. In Head, Heart , Davis writes about the internal fight between the speakers heart and the speakers head. Davis uses metonymy in her writing. The head to portray reason and the heart to portray emotion. She writes about how the head is trying to comfort the broken heart by telling the heart that there will be others and that You will lose the ones you love. Analysis of the Film Inside Man Essay Patrick Carruthers Neupert Film Studies The True Inside Man Inside Man was released in 2006 and would later become the highest grossing film for the director Spike Lee. The film is a crime drama, located primarily in a bank in New York City run by multi billionaire Arthur Case. Although the film is a thriller and contains bits of action and suspense, the movie focuses heavily on the difference between good and evil. The movie begins with a shot in medias res of Clive Owen s character Dalton Russell explaining the difference between being stuck in a tiny cell and being in prison while he moves around a small room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the film unfolds, the audience learns that although there were financial morals fueling the master plan, there was also the desire to bring justice upon a man that had betrayed and cheated his way to the top, thus giving the audience a sense of righteousness in what Russell was doing. Russell had become not only the man literally inside the bank, but inside the lies of Case with the means to expose them. This alignment serves to form a sort of paradoxical allegiance in which although the audience understands he is the leader of a criminal group, he is also uncovering the secrets of an evil man and thus somewhat proving his innocence. This same allegiance causes the audience to enjoy the conclusion, both out of respect for the intelligence of the plan and because of his ability to escape with the documents and potentially to uncover the awful past of Arthur Case. Although Ms. White s thoughts are never truly expressed in the film, she plays a huge role in the formation of the plot. Recognition of Ms. White comes easily for the fact that she is a woman, and she is of power. An important aspect of her appearance is her clothing, being that in every shot she is shown wearing formal clothing and more importantly; heels. The clothing and heels serve to portray her as an ... The dams where causing a buildup of toxic algae which made the Klamath un safe to swim in. This effected the tribes more than most as they use the river in their ceremonies. Most of the military missions would use Lhe kinematic Stirling that produces mechanical work directly; and this is the one that has received nearly all the development work to date. The free piston Stirling is a sealed engine which uses a magnetized power piston to activate alternator coils outside the pressure walls of the engine, thus producing an electrical output. This configuration avoids the working fluid leakage problems associated with the moving seals in a kinematic engine, but may be somewhat less efficient. • 17. Neurone Function Essay Membrane proteins are found in all cell membranes and it is these that determine the majority of the membranes functions. There are often two types of membrane protein and these can be classified as integral proteins and peripheral proteins. Integral proteins are situated in the hydrophobic interior part of the phospholipid bilayer and can have hydrophilic channels that allow the passage of hydrophilic substances across the membrane. Where as, peripheral proteins are not embedded in the bilayer at all and are instead loosely bound to the surface of the membrane. Neurons are the basic units of the nervous system and are involved in the transmission of impulses to all different parts of the body. Membrane proteins are of great importance when it comes to considering the function of neurones within the body, as many of the processes that occur would not be possible without the action of proteins. One of the key ways that membrane proteins are involved in neurone function is through the formation of the resting potential. The resting potential is the charge difference across a cell membrane when a neurone is at rest and not sending a signal, typically between 60 and 80 millivolts. Potassium and Sodium ions play a fundamental role in the formation of the resting potential (Professor Sandidge/Moyle, 2012) and these ions each have a concentration gradient across the membrane of a neuron. In the majority of neurones, the concentration of potassium is greater inside the cell, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The findings support that experiencing language fosters development of vocabulary through positively influenced processing efficiency. It has also been seen that children from higher socioeconomic status families show greater interaction and exposure to language which leads to larger vocabularies as well as efficient real time processing (Fernald, A., Marchman, V. A., Weisleder, A., 2013). Ultimately, children who are more exposed to speech are able to interpret words, create mental lexicon representations leading them to be able to familiarize with words quicker and with better accuracy during speech in real time. This ability later shows rapid growth in vocabulary. (Weisleder et al., 2013) The looking while listening test is a good resource, however in some cases this test cannot be used. Such reasons arise in the assessment of deaf children that heavily rely on ASL signs as their primary tool for communication. Spoken language learning processes require visual and auditory modalities where as comprehension and processing of sign language requires visual attention to real world referents as well as attention to visual linguistic signs (Lieberman et al., 2015). Despite having a somewhat uncertain alliance, the Natives treated the soldiers with respect, even referring to commanders as their English Fathers . Frontiersmen, or colonists, also were also honored, due to the tight bond they shared with the tribe in everyday life. In comparison to the vengeful enemy, the small tribe acted on keeping the English colonists, as well as the military, safe from the French and their ally. To counteract the quiet ambush style of the Hurons, many survival techniques such as walking along a waterfall to mask the sound of movement were shown to the few English to conceal their position. These procedures kept the few still standing English alive, without the tops of their heads cut off (for the time being). Albeit most interactions were positive, some were going against the unwritten alliance. Seeing many colonists houses decimated and the inhabitants killed, it was understandable for the men to want to get back home and defend the remaining frontier homes. However, the English commanders would not allow them to return home to defend their own land, as previously promised. Seeing them so desperate and witnessing the horrors of what the Hurons could do, the Mohicans decided to help the colonists escape from the Fort, but for a price. Considered to now to be traitors, the English captains took them prisoner in hand bindings, as if they had not saved them from certain death from French soldiers and Huron tribesmen countless of times. • 30. Review Of Robert Mundell s Trilemma Essay Section I: Exchange Rates Paper Robert Mundell s Trilemma, also known as the Impossible Trinity, states that a nation cannot realize monetary policy autonomy, free capital movements, and exchange rate stability at the same time. While either of the two goals can combine and actualize in any given period, as a simultaneous and three fold effort, each objective cannot coexist. Together they are simply incompatible. Thus, and holding true to the tradeoff nature of economics, Mundell s undisputed theory illustrates that in order for a nation to attain its preferred monetary goals it must give up one desired option. Nevertheless, it is no easy decision. Before any resolution is made, nations must invest substantial time and energy into understanding the consequences at stake because the policies that they do deicide to implement are not only felt at a national or international level but personally amongst those that they govern. To exemplify the tradeoffs that define the Trilemma s policy combinations, consider a nation with a long history of high inflation and a central bank that has limited credibility. Bearing in mind that low inflation is a primary macroeconomic goal amongst world powers and likened to symbolize economic stability, would not the aim of the nation be to promote steady financial growth through deflation? And while the costs of inflation are substantially high on their own, when coupled with uncertainty produced by an unreliable central bank the costs are only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The thesis of the novel is that through history certain specialty beverages have affected more than just the diet of people and changed political aspects, economic standings, religious ceremonies and social views throughout human history. The book describes the power of the British East India Company, which generated more revenue than the British government and ruled over far more people, wielding more power than any other corporation in history. • 34. Essay On Presbycusis Please answer these questions as thoroughly as you possibly can. 1. Please describe presbycusis of the cochlea giving the types and the anatomical site effect and the implications. Presbycusis is an acquired hearing loss associated with aging. There are four types of presbycusis: sensory presbycusis, neural presbycusis, metabolic presbycusis, and mechanical presbycusis. Sensory presbycusis occurs as a result of damage to the outer hair cells and inner hair cells of the organ of Corti. More damage is noted with the outer hair cells than the inner hair cells. Speech discrimination is typically normal in this population because the hearing loss is typically confined to high frequencies. Neural presbycusis affects hearing all frequencies of pure tones. The hearing loss associated with this type of presbycusis increases as the frequency of the sound increases. Speech discrimination is approximately 60% accurate. Neural presbycusis is degeneration of the spiral ganglion and the loss of auditory neurons throughout the cochlea and auditory pathways. Neural presbycusis is not evident until the number of normally functioning neurons fall below a critical minimum. The impact of this type of presbycusis varies in age of onset and severity. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pro and Cons of Forgiveness We can gain some benefits from forgiveness. One of the benefits of forgiveness is that it is good for our heart. This is because when we try to forgive other people, we can train our heart to be more patience when we are dealing in some issues in our daily life. Besides that, forgiveness also can always train us to be more forgiven people rather than someone who hold revenge towards others, which is not good for our heart. In this context, we can forgive, because there are two components to forgiveness which is attitudinal and transactional. Before we approach the person who sinned against us, we must approach God and battle to have a forgiving and merciful heart. In women owned businesses today, the women seem to accept any business background shortcomings and seek education and training before they take the leap.
