Romanticism In The Raft Of The Medusa
Romanticism, like most artistic movements, can best be understood when juxtaposed with history.
It was a time of uprisings and conflicts, of liberal thought and confrontation and the winds of
change swept away everyone and everything, from monarchies and governments to French farmers
and salon owners. A new way of thinking and looking at the world was proposed; the shift
revealed itself in the works of new artistic masters who broke out onto the scene, shocking the
critics and the public (mostly bourgeois, old masters, and nobles) with their new styles that
approached art in a way that challenged all traditions. Such changes can be tracked from the mass of
altered techniques and change of focus, usually very manifest in most paintings, and... Show more

His then unorthodox landscape paintings not only are touching to the eye and the heart, but
also provide much food for thought and deep contemplation. If you take a look at several of
Friedrich s works, you ll be able to discover that most of those landscapes include the back(s) of
one or several people, who, like us, are peering over the panorama. The structure allows us to (1)
put ourselves into that person s viewpoint, as if we were on that very site, feeling the winds
brushing our faces and carrying smell of the open air, and (2) wonder what worries or thoughts are

Napoleon III s Impact On France And Germany
Napoleon III and Bismarck both had huge impacts on France and Germany respectively. Both
men had great diplomatic skills and strong personalities which lead to all sorts of reforms within
their nation. Both men are known for their leadership skills and for the Franco Prussian war, and
even though the war technically ended by military means, both of their diplomatic skills had major
impacts on the dynamic and outcome of the war. It is unclear to many how the war ended with a
Prussian victory; and this is an attempt to explain what led to the war, and how those factors
resulted into a Prussian victory.
Napoleon III was born on April 20th 1808 as Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. His father is
Napoleon s younger brother, making him one of Napoleon s nephews. After the imprisonment of
Napoleon after Waterloo in 1815, he and his family were forced into exile by the French
returning monarchy. He was not born as the heir to the Bonaparte claim to the French throne, but
the premature death of Napoleon s only son and the death of his own older brother made him the
apparent heir to claim. He took the claim very seriously, and even attempted multiple coups to
gain power, all of which failed and sentenced to prison. His chance to power came when the last
king of France was forced to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Napoleon III first made agreements with the UK promising UK that France will not attempt to
annex Belgium. This was a lie, and Napoleon sent a secret message to Bismarck indicating to him
that France will not intervene in Prussia s land grabbing , if Prussia did not intervene in France s
goal to annex Belgium and the Western parts of some the South German States. Instead of
accepting these terms, Bismarck showed this to the UK and the different southern German nations.
This resulted in hurting France s relationship with the UK, and increased the Southern German
nations that the threat was Napoleon III, not Bismarck

Observation Of Teaching A Teacher s Classroom
I have a good friend, Courtney, who is doing her student teaching in a fourth grade classroom at
Faubion elementary school, and she arranged for me to come in to observe her cooperating
teacher s classroom. On Friday, December 1st at 10 o clock I had the opportunity to observe Mrs.
Makara s classroom for 45 minutes while the class was doing readingstations. The class is
organized into six table groups with five students in each group. Mrs. Makara s overhead screen
hangs in the front of the room near her table. I noticed that the class was arranged this way in
order for all the students to all easily see the screen as well as collaborate with one another for
the assignments and projects that are assigned in class. When I came into the classroom Mrs.
Makara was finishing up teaching a math lesson. She was using a document camera to project the
worksheet that students had in front of them on screen. She was also using a microphone while
talking to the class. Courtney later informed me that was because one of their students has a
hearing impairment so both Courtney and Mrs. Makara use the microphone when speaking to the
class. Mrs. Makara assigned a couple of math problems for the students to work with their table
groups to figure out. After each group figured out the answer to the problem Mrs. Makara asked
for one volunteer to come up and project their work on the overhead projector. The student showed
her work and talked through how her group figured out the solution. Afterward, Mrs. Makara asked
all the students to put away their math work and get ready for readingstations.
While the students were working to put away their math work Mrs. Makara used her computer to
pull up a slide showing the different reading stations. When I asked my friend about how the
students were split into groups she informed me that they split them up based on their reading
levels because in their class the reading levels are at a wide spectrum. There are some students
who are reading at a sixth grade level and others that are reading at a K 1 level. Therefore, the only
way they could differentiate reading instruction was by splitting the students into groups based on
their reading levels and having them go to the stations that

The Second Golden Era Of The Film Industry
The second golden era of the film industry, new hollywood, came about from 1969 through 1980.
As the 1960 s started off positive and hopeful, there was now many Americans left devastated
from the depressing events that occurred after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, such as the
Vietnam War. There was also a conflict in the movie scene because Hollywood directors were
torn between the old styles of filming and the new techniques. By 1980, this conflict was finally
resolved and a new hollywood era was created. Although the old styles of filming still existed, new
directors did not follow the production code and decided to recreate genres. Directors also started
to mix different genres together into one filmsuch as comedy, romance, and... Show more content on

These thriller films were very mainstream and popular in the box office because they were targeted
towards adults under the age of 25. The Night of the Living Dead also innovated the drive in
movies, although, these are not as popular nowadays. During this time movies only cost $1.50, but
these movies still brought in millions in revenue and this was the turning point for starting the
personal filmmaking trend. This is a clip from Dawn of the Dead, it was released in 1978 and it is
about two SWAT members who try to stop a zombie apocalypse. The director, George Romero, was
instrumental in creating this zombie horror genre. Romero used suspenseful background music
when the zombies were after them to make it scarier, although, I thought the makeup on the
zombies was really fake looking compared to the makeup on new zombie movies and television
shows such as The Walking Dead. It is amazing to see how makeup and editing can really change
the impact movies make on the audience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3 g5wu3bSg In

The Iranian Islamic Revolution Ended And The Us
On April 1, 1979 the Iranian Islamic Revolution ended and the US, under the administration of
President Jimmy Carter, begin to reach out to the new effective government in as effort to establish
a new relationship with Iran and as an offer of good will President Carter continued to provide
military support in the hopes that Khomeini and Islamic Iranwould reduce their feeling against
America. The gestures did not stop Khomeini from appointing an anti western Islamic theocracy
or reducing the impact of the historical impact the US an UK have had intervening in Iran s
internal affairs. After fleeing Iran, the former Shah traveled extensively looking for political
refuge and medical treatment for the cancer that had progressed severely. While in Mexico,
unable to seek treatment by his physicians in France, due to the unwelcoming stance of their
government, the Shah insisted that he be treated in the US (NY Times, 1981). The Iranian
sentiment for the US was still quite tense and bathed in suspension, but even after the diplomatic
mission in Tehran warned Carter several times not to allow the Shah entry in to the US, the
president hesitantly decide to allow the Shah to be treated in the US and was admitted on October
22, 1979. Surprisingly the US intelligence was not aware of the Shah s cancer and could not brief

Reflection On Social Justice
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg once said I cannot say whether things will get better if we change;
what I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. Injustices can be explained as
something that is not to everybody s benefit, or simply something this is unfair. Going into this
class, I did not know much about social justiceor cities in general. After being in it for a short 3
weeks, I have learned a lot of new material and am excited to learn more. I believe that social
justice is a combination of the opportunities and freedoms within the different socioeconomic
classes.
Growing up so close to Des Moines, I feel as if I have had plenty of experiences all of which
helped shape my views on social justice. I have lived in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two things that immediately come to mind when I think about social justice in the
real world. Education is one. Typically, people are more prone to go to college if their parents or
siblings go to college. Going back to the topic of East Des Moines, East high school is not a
school that is looked well upon. The teachers are underpaid and most of the students do not care
about their education enough to go to class everyday. Knowing this, students from schools like
that are less likely to go on to college and get an education. This then leads to them not getting
good jobs and making enough money to support themselves. I believe that this is an injustice
because those students do not choose to go to schools like that, but they get started off on the
wrong foot right from the start. People look down on them because of the school they go to. The
other thing I think about when I hear the word social justice is Racism. Segregation is something
that most people don t think is still a problem, but unfortunately it is. They view segregation as an
unfortunate holdover from a racist past, one that is fading progressively overtime (Massey 1).
African American people that live in rougher neighborhoods, Chicago for example, are usually in
the lower socioeconomic class. Being an African American in the lower socioeconomic class
makes it easy for white people to look down on them. Briana Gibson grew up in the rough part of

Interpersonal Skills Are The Lifeblood Of An Efficient...
I sincerely feel interpersonal skills are the lifeblood of an efficient business. In the sections to
follow I hope to shed some light on many of these skills and prove how important they are in
business;
Listening
According to skillsyouneed.com, Listening is the ability accurately to receive and interpret
messages in the communication process. (listening skills ). This may sound as a passive skill
however it is far from it. A good listener is actively involved in trying to understand the
information as the speaker has intended. This skill is vital to good business. One example of
listening in action would be conducting customer surveys to better ensure the needs of the
customer are met. This may be as simple as asking how can we better serve you or a complex as a
large question bank to help judge company performance.
There are many resources to help improve these skills. If you have a minute head on over to http:/

Assertiveness
Assertiveness simply put, without being aggressive, being confident and self assured. An assertive
person is one who is not waiting in the back of the room for something happen; rather they are the
ones instrumental in making them happen. This is a crucial skill to have in the business world as
assertive people tend to create opportunities and innovation. In the business, assertiveness can be
seen in individuals who tend to provide

The Effects Of Chiropractic Adjustment And Myofascial Dry...
The effect of chiropractic adjustment versus myofascial dry needling, of the shoulder and cervical
region, to treat symptoms of shoulder impingement syndrome.
A research proposal presented to the
Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Johannesburg, as partial fulfilment for the Masters degree
in Chiropractic by:
Devin Christopher Ramsden
(Student number: 201106502)
Supervisor: _________________ Date: _________
Co Supervisor: ______________ Date: _________ EXECUTIVE SUMMARY.
Shoulder impingement syndrome is a progressively worsening condition in many individuals. The
use of a chiropractic adjustment or myofascial dry needling as forms of treatment are both yet to
be differentiated as to which is more beneficial (Fitness Pain Free. 2016).
The aim of this study is to research the effect of a chiropractic adjustment on the shoulder and the
cervical spine, and compare to dry needling of the shoulder and cervical musculature.
The research study will include three separate groups that will receive chiropractic adjustments, dry
needling or a combination of the two treatments. The results will then be evaluated and an outcome
will be based on these results as to which treatment is more effective.
1. PROBLEM STATEMENT
The shoulder is made up of joints, bone, muscle and neurovascular tissue. These all allow for the
large range of motion that the shoulder can produce in order to position the rest of the upper limb

Dutch Vs Italian Renaissance Painting
The era of Renaissance art produce some of the most famous works of art that we ve seen during
our lifetimes. Dutch or Northern Renaissance art like Italian both included various forms of
portraits that express variations of human behaviors. The styles were a bit different as Italian
focused on linear perspective and Dutch was more focused on attention to detail and making them
lifelike. Both used oil based paints however, Italian Renaissanceart was more mythical and
religious whereas Dutch were more landscapes, portraits, and scenic displays. The major
difference between the two was how they portrayed the imaged of people in the paintings which
could be interpreted in various ways and provide a lot of areas of discussion with the differences

Connection To Native American Culture
My connection to Native American culture is very limited. The knowledge I do have would
primarily be from the Disney movie Pocachontas as well as what I learned in elementary school
relating to the first settlers and Thanksgiving. I have a basic understanding that their culture is
based deeply in spiritual rituals. I also know that they have been forced to move from their land
and have had to fight to keep the reservations that they currently reside on.
I would say that the Native American culture most influences me in relation to my love of art. The
Native Americans are well known for many artistic things in jewelry and pottery. The Native

Analysis Of Katha Pollitt s The Hunger Games Feral...
In Katha Pollitt s essay entitled The Hunger Games Feral Feminism, Pollitt writes about what
reality television might look like if taken to extremes. Reality television is a huge part of our
culture today, and I not only agree with Pollitt s views and ideas of what reality TV would look
if taken to the extremes, but I believe that we have already gotten to that point. Today s reality
TV shows such as Keeping up with the Kardashians , The Bachelorette or any of the Real
Housewives are among many of today s popular shows that focus on extreme aggression,
bullying, physical beauty, and sex appeal. These TV shows teach us that it is not only ok to
compromise morals and values, but that type of behavior accepted and rewarded. In today s age,
reality TV generally has to go negative and go to the extreme in order for it to be interesting
despite the lasting impact that it may have on viewers. Reality TV has an impact on the values of
their viewers and alters how they may perceive real life situations. Therefore, it s important to take
a look at some of the standards portrayed by reality TV.
Reality television is a huge part of our television viewing culture and the line between right and
wrong is not always clear to many of the viewers. The fact is, the extreme behaviors displayed are
not real or normal in the world that exists outside of reality TV. Many reality shows depict women
idealizing beauty and thinness, giving the impression that a woman s value is based

Gomer And Hosea
The book of Hosea has to be one of the oddest books of the entire Bible to some. Who would have
ever thought that God would have asked his obedient and faithful prophet Hosea to go and take
a prostitute to be his wife? There is a common knowledge that God can use anything for His glory.
Therefore, as odd as Hosea and Gomer s story is, it is not exempt from glorifying God. God s loveis
unfailing and unconditional for all of humanity and that was proven in and through the love story
of Hosea and Gomer. In this paper, I will cover God s peculiar instructions for Hosea, Hosea and
Gomer s story, Hosea s heartbreak, the state of Israel during this time, and God s unfailing love for
Israel.
God s Peculiar Instructions for Hosea In Hosea 1:2, God gives Hosea instructions to go out and
marry an adulterous wife and have children of unfaithfulness. God told Hosea to do this because
Israel is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the Lord. In the next verse, Hosea married
Gomer, and Gomer had three children back to back and God told Hosea to name them names that
represented His broken relationship with Israel (Hosea 1:4 8).

she longed for her previous lifestyle before Hosea, as a prostitute ... Show more content on

The Israelites, like Gomer, had turned their backs on God. They, similar to Gomer, proved
themselves unfaithful to their commitment to God. Both Gomer and the Israelites resumed their
old lifestyle which did not honor God or obey his laws. Hosea mirrors the infallibility of God s
love. He says in Hosea 14:4: I will heal their backsliding. I will love them freely. Gomer did not
deserve that kind of forgiveness. Neither did the Israelites. God s love extends beyond the limits of
humanity s sinful humanity. He longs to bring us into a state of restoration with

A lack of objective data on which to assess talent can result in an over reliance on personal

A review and acceptance process will follow were the candidate is studied further and ultimately
chosen or not chosen for continuation. If chosen the candidate is than placed on a development
path to prepare him or her for future roles in the organization. The first step toward development in
the Common Grounds organization is to assign a mentor. Having a mentor will help the candidate
gain insight into internal operations from a seasoned veteran employee. A seasoned employee can
enhance the development process because he or she is aware of and operates within the
organization s cultural parameters and has had proven success. Having a mentor also helps the
candidates learn how to build and maintain relationships. According to Ferrell, Fraedrich and Ferrell
(2011), developing and maintaining relationships is an essential aspect of business. The next step is
to attend workshops that offer exposure and solution training to real world situations. Finally,
special projects are given to ascertain the development of the candidate by their ability to apply their
knowledge in a practical setting. Though the identifying, assessing and development of potential

Altering Reality
Not all fictional literary works are based on fictional events. In fact, many great works of
literature are based on true life events, people, and places. One author who practices this method
of writing is William Shakespeare. In Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth, many similarities
and contrasts of historical accounts are used to fuel the drama s storyline. This is very apparent
amongst the play s characters, events, and settings. Shakespeare begins his historical references
with the use of well known historical characters. Two of the play s main characters are two rivaling
Scottish kings, Duncan I and Macbeth. Shakespeare does an excellent job in using contrasts of the
actual kings, in The Tragedy of Macbeth. Shakespeare s Duncan is... Show more content on

The last example of Shakespeare s historical references is Shakespeare s settings. While most of
Shakespeare s references are contrasts, Shakespeare does stay true to many of the historical
stages set before him. Like the historical background of the Scottish rivalry between Macbeth
and Duncan, the drama takes place throughout the Scottish country side (Shakespeare). In fact,
many of Shakespeare s main settings are based on real Scottish landmarks. One of these
landmarks is the ancient fort of Dunsinane, which is Shakespeare s setting for the castle of the
king of Scotland. Although, this is not the home place of the actual Scottish king, it is in close
proximity to Birnham Wood ( Dunsinane ), the same Birnham Wood referred to by the witches
of The Tragedy of Macbeth. Macbeth shall never vanquished be until Great Birnham Wood to
high Dunsinane Hill Shall come against him (Shakespeare 355; Act IV Scene I ll 92 94).
According to some scholars, the reason for the significance of Birnham Wood in Shakespeare s
tragedy is related to the historical, victorious battle of Macbeth near Dunkeld, a modern region
of Perth and Kinross, which happens to be in close proximity to Birnham Wood as well (
Macbeth ). Birnham Wood is also the setting for one of Macbeth s defeats by Siward, earl of
Northunbria, in 1054 ( Dunsinane ). While these settings are closely related, one of Shakespeare s
settings contrasts quite a bit. Cawdor, a castle in

The Moral Philosophy Of Ethical Egoism
Timothy Walter

Research Paper
The Moral Philosophy of Ethical Egoism
Let him be the best of men, and let him be thought the worst; then he will have been put to the
proof; and we shall see whether he will be affected by the fear of infamy and its consequences. And
let him continue thus to the hour of death; being just and seeming to be unjust. When both have
reached the uttermost extreme, the one of justice and the other of injustice, let judgment be given
which is the happier of the two. Glaucon, from The Republic (Pojman, Vaughn, 464).
Every day there are children dying of starvation in poor countries all over the world. In more
prosperous countries people are afforded luxuries such as lavish cars and weekly movies at the
cinema. If asked, these people will tell you that we do, in fact, have a moral obligation to help
the children if we are in a position to do so. So why, do we choose to buy the luxury car? Why do
we spend enough to feed a small village on one trip to the cinema with family? It is because deep
inside we know that our primary concern is our own self interest; the pursuit of happiness. Ethical
egoism at first glance seems counter intuitive, however, upon deeper inspection we see that ethical
egoism is the moral philosophy that should be adopted if we wish to obtain the goal of happiness.
Ethical egoism is the ethical view that one ought to do whatever and only whatever is in one s own
maximum interest, benefit, advantage, or

Furthermore, this poem can be viewed as counter hegemonic. It shows that her stanzas connote a re
enunciation of personality and requires a redistribution of emblematic power. Therefore, this poem
exhibits an innovative piece that points to more grounded potential outcomes for Middle Eastern
women dealing with the atrocities of war from a feminist critique point of view. The Poem speaks

Marina Abramovic Research Papers
Marina Abramovic has been called by many as the grandmother of performance art, because of her
arduous and risky performances which test the limits and endurance of the body, engaging the
audience and even making them participate in most of her performances.
She was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, her familywas catholic and they raised her in a very tight
and firm environment, she states she felt as if she grew up in a boot camp more than an actual

She has said in interviews before that her family background and how she was raised have been a
great influence in her work. Thanks to this and especially the way she was brought up, has taught
her the discipline required to carry out her endurance testing performances.

Race And Ethnicity Are Integral Parts Of America
Race and Ethnicity are integral parts of America. They are often used interchangeably. Race is
associated with biology. It is a socially and politically constructed category of individuals who are
assumed to share common inborn biological traits, such as bone structure, hair type, skin, or eye
color. These distinctions have been used to the detriment or advantage of American groups over
time. Whereas ethnicity is associated with culture factors. It is often tied to nationality of origin
and characterized by a person s ethnic traits, customs, and/or associations. Raceand ethnicity in
some ways go hand in hand and in other ways differ. Although the similarities are not quite the
same they still have the same concept. Today s society plays a huge role in defining these terms.
Humans have been separated into biological races. Although all humans belong to the same
species, there are minor genetic differences around the world that generate distinct physical
appearances, such as variations in skin color. There was a time when religion, social status, and
language were more important than physical appearances. The term race, with ambiguous
meaning, has transformed over time. It is not solely based on genetics and how people look on the
outside. It is simply a categorization created by the people of American society. Race is more of a
contemporary idea that developed out of certain historical circumstances. The historical meaning of
race is an immutable and distinct species,

The Ottoman And The Aztec Empire
Comparative Essay The post classical era in history (600CE 1250CE) saw the rise and fall of
many great empires. In the early part of the era, the Islamic Caliphates acted as a core region in
the Middle East, heavily influencing the region around them. On the other side of the world, the
Aztec Empire rose to power in the later part of the era with minimal trans regional influence.
Although on different sides of the world, both empires found similar ways to adapt to their diverse
environments. In the post classical era, the rise of the Islamic Caliphates and the AztecEmpire were
similar in that they established cohesion through their respective cultures and used military
conquest to come to power. Although there are similarities in the rise of power in the Caliphates
and the Aztec Empire, there is a difference in the speed of expansion given that the Caliphates were
located in a central trading region while the Aztec Empire was not.
Both the Caliphates and the Aztec Empire show a similarity in how each used their cultures to
achieve cohesion among their respective empires. In the Caliphates, Islamic culture helped unite the
population while Aztec ritualistic culture unified the ethnically diverse peoples of the Aztec
Empire. Islamic culture unified much of the region under Umayyad and Abbasid rule. As Islamic
merchants and missionaries spread Islam to the people, forms of Islamic culture spread with them.

My Reflection Of My Writing And Communication
Writing is essential to communicating on many levels, and it can display your level of
understanding or lack of understanding communicating. Whether is Facebook, Twitter, an email
to your co works, or a professional document you will be judged by your writing style based on if it
s good or bad. If your writingstyle full of miss spelled words, bad grammar, and horrible flow you
will fail to get your point across clearly and people will think you are uneducated. This class is
step one on my journey improving my writing and learning as much as possible about the
English language. Just like anything else you have to start with the basics and I feel like I
accomplished that over this last eight weeks. The first bad habit this class help me correct was
mixing up future, past tense, and current situations in one paragraph. My papers didn t have
good flow because I didn t maintain parallelism, I was just all over the place. Some of my papers
read like a bad scary movie, just jumping all over the place. That can confuse the reader because
the document become hard to follow. Parallelism add smooth flow to your paper, it can keep the
reader eyes on your document. Additionally this method helps the writer maintain consistency, and
a balanced flow of ideas. Parallelism is most important when you are trying to persuade your
audience. Run on and fragments are something most of us struggle with. Social media is full of
run on and fragments and it drive my wife crazy. I

A Discussion Of Administrative Law Essay
A Discussion of Administrative Law Congress and the state legislature pass laws that align to the
U.S. Constitution. However, the laws enacted are general provisions that do not explain how they
should be utilized. Consequently, federal, state, and local agencies must define the policies and
regulations of the statutes. The rules and regulations established by the agency are known as
administrative laws (Walsh, Maniotis, Kemerer, 2014). Educators must follow the laws passed by
the state legislature such as the TexasEducationCode (TEC), which contains numerous guidelines
related to the education of our students (Essex, 2008). Administrative laws impact the daily
instruction of the K 12 education system. Educators must be cognizant of these laws because the
laws ensure a successful learning environment for all students. Moreover, the laws provide
guidelines that influence the education of students with unique needs such as English Learners
(ELs).
Administrative Law
Federal Administrative Law At the federal level, the U.S. Department of Education serves as a
major entity for the well being of America s students. The Department of Education (ED)
originated in 1867, to provide an adequate education system by gathering data on schools and
teachers. Modifications to the ED have taken place because of new laws and events that have
occurred. In 1980, the U.S. Congress appointed the ED to take part as a cabinet agency; hence, the

Bloomberg s Commitment to Public Health
Bloomberg s commitment to public health was certainly strong throughout his time as mayor of
New York. On the one hand, he understood the importance in addressing some of the largest
health issues of our time. On the other however, it seems that many of his policies were made
without proper scientific evidence and backing and were made based on his own personal
philosophies rather those of the people they affected. He himself said I just spent roughly $600
million of my own money to try to stop the scourge of tobacco {NYT}
Positive Aspects:
The Mayor took charge of the fight against numerous issues and implemented some of the strictest
public health legislation in the world. Some of the more notable examples were his stances on
smoking and obesity. Not only did Bloomberg make policies, which directly addressed the core
cause of the issues, but also he succeeded in levying the blame and burden of these policies upon
the industries that were profiteering at the cost of the public s health. Among the most significant
of these policies were the efforts to tax sugary drinks and ban others in a move that stated that the
sale of any cup or bottle of sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces about the size of a
medium coffee, and smaller than a common soda bottle would be prohibited {NYT}. Evidently,
this policy was aimed at reducing the runaway obesity rates that were being experienced in New
York City. Additionally, the smoking ban in restaurants and in the work

Alison Bechdel Sparknotes
I believe that Alison Bechdel used this book as a platform to highlight the various challenges and
issues that some homosexual individuals among others in the LGBTQ community face. She wanted
to allow to the audience to empathise with this community in a different light. In some cases, when
people don t understand the unfamiliar, the tend to fear it. So, with this book, people from a variety

She mentioned that her father was molested by a farm hand when he was young. Even though her
parents didn t act like a married couple, he trusted her enough to tell that deep of a secret to her. I
feel like she betrayed him even though he also betrayed her multiple times. That is not a secret a
mother should tell her children about their father. However, it also seems like the mother was
blaming the homosexuality on the molestation. Maybe that was her way of dealing with his
unfaithfulness especially with young men.
There are many instances where they show Bruce looking at young teenagers, or even
interacting with them. Her mother ignored the behavior and Alison, in the future, just didn t
fully address his behavior. The first instance was when Bruce looked at the altar boy and her
mother just rolled her eyes at him. Then Alison had a narration stating But would an ideal
husband and father have sex with teenage boys? (pg.17). It was quite a telling scene about her
mother s attitude towards her father. She was willing to let her husband prey after young boys
instead of protecting them. It also surprised me how hypocritical Bruce was. On their trip to New
York, when John wandered off, Bruce was extremely alarmed and he mentioned a phrase
Chickenhawks . Elly defined them as men that prey on boys. This shows that Alison was aware of
his pedophilic ways but in a way chose to ignore them.

Securing the Castilian Throne Essay example
To suggest that Isabella was successful from the outset in securing the Castilian crown and the
support of its people would be a foolish interpretation. It took ten years before she was fully
accepted as rightful ruler, during which time a number of important factors developed that today
can be seen as the clearest reasons for her success. Paramount among these was her determined,
intellectual and shrewd personality and character. Without these traits, the other factors would have
been irrelevant. In October 1469, Isabella was married to Ferdinand of Aragon. What is interesting
here is the terms of the treaty drawn up after the ceremony that both of them signed. It claimed
Isabella to be the rightful and true heir of Castile, that their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the early years of Ferdinand and Isabella s union, the advantages were firmly weighted in
favour of Castile. This is no great surprise as, after all, there was no problem with a succession in
Aragon. Influences that Ferdinand had over affairs concerning Castilian affairs most concerned
the military. He and his troops played a vital role in putting down rebellions in towns and cities.
Men were supplied (in line with the terms of the marriage contract) from Castile to help stave off
and defeat the Portuguese as well as supporters of Joanna Enriquez, who was Isabella s main rival
to the throne. Because Ferdinand played an important part in halting these problems, the union
between Isabella and Ferdinand, and the acquiescence that Ferdinand and Aragon showed them,
can be seen to be a significant contributor to Isabella s eventual victory in 1479. The fact that
Ferdinand s presence was not too overbearing helped keep grandees happy. They were important
members of society. Isabella needed their support and without it she would have struggled to retain
popularity and secure her throne. Therefore, before even becoming Queen, it was imperative that
she had them on her side, away from Joanna. Originally, only a few grandee families supported
Isabella s cause. It was not until 1470, four years before Isabella became Queen, that opinion
switched. An important reason for

The increasing demands of energy and oil, insecure energy resources and emission of hazardous
gases have attracted the attention of the whole world towards renewable energy. In the world, at
this time the future of energy is concentrated much amount on renewable energy sources as the
fossil fuels are decreasing and becoming costly day by day. This proposes very simple, low cost,
high reliable, photovoltaic monitoring system. Lab view is a virtual programming code. So we
can write simple codes in programming them to do assigned task for it. The time taken for writing
code in a lab view is very less compared to the MATLAB and SIMULINK. In this project, we will
monitor the data of PV solar cell using Lab VIEW software. First of all, solar radiation will come
on solar cell. Next, charge will controlled by charge controller and also save the battery from
overcharging. Then, from the battery, given sensor will sense the parameter of solar cell. The
sensed data will be given to Lab view software in this project.

opportunity to the public in ways of starting their own means of making income. EBay,

Rhetorical Analysis Paper Three
This semester, I am taking Intro to Sociology and we have been looking at different perspectives
of our society. One thing we are studying is how from at such a young age, we are taught to
assign gender roles. In Patricia J. Williams magazine article, Are We Worried about Storm s
Identity or Our Own , an essay taken out of the Nation magazine (June 2011), she tells a story
about Storm, whose parents choose not to reveal the sex of their baby. She is a legal scholar and
examines issues related to law and culture. Williams focuses on all the stereotypes that we associate
with gender, how we as a society find social order in assigning gender roles, and the need to have
the proper pronouns so that we know how/what to label a person. The author s use of ethos and
logos really brings the point home that we need to be more open about all the possibilities
associated with gender and pronouns. In the beginning of her essay, Williams use of ethos makes
the reader question as to why we have to associate certain words with boys and girls. She wants us

External conflict is when there is a problem that many characters are involved in. When a character

Actions And Characters In A Separate Peace By John Knowles
In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the seasons develop actions and characters in
the story. The story takes place at an all boys boarding school in New Hampshire during World
War II based off of the author s previous experiences at a boarding school. The two main characters,
Finny and Gene, experience character development alongside different seasons. In written works,
seasons are commonly used to symbolically represent a change in the character s personalities. The
nature or setting of the story is used to specifically evolve Finny and Gene in seasons such as the

government is the one which really change my life. It effects my life in both positive and

Under the scheme, the CSSA recipients will get certain amount of payment from the
government monthly. The amount varies based on the age, household size and the health of the
recipients. There are also supplement such as the single parent Supplement and the residential

STORY COMMENTS
THE STRENGTH OF TEN MEN is a captivating action, thriller. The strength of this story is no
doubt the complex and highly compelling characters that drive the plot. The core characters are
thrust into a harrowing life and death situation where the stakes are extremely high.
The script offers intriguing twist and turns. There are solid themes about trust, family, believing, and
faith.

For the most part, it sounds crisp and has a nice rhythm. The voices of the characters are consistent
with their personalities and reveals information about them.
The only area that should be polished is the running gag about whores. This is still overdone. It s
funny in the beginning, but then loses its charm. The discussion about big dicks isn t all that
engaging.
The overall tension works best in the opening. The conflict and tension in the second act can be
stronger if there s more of an urgency and ticking clock. The current pace hinders this. The tension
doesn t enhance again until the midpoint.
The script is professionally presented although there are a few minor typos (pages 4, 45, and 54).
Also, the character of Dennis introduced twice.
SUMMARY MARKETABILITY
The plot is engaging and merits consider with revisions, especially in the first half of the script
regarding the goal, tension, pace, and action.
The strengths of this script are the characters and they can attract talent.
The action is also well crafted.
The script should be marketable in both the domestic and international market.
The script should appeal to the mainstream action, thriller audience.

What Is The Role Of Reasoning In Judicial Decision Making
It s important to understand how judges come to their decisions, as it can often be more than
just simply applying legal principles to get to the relevant solution. It is common for there to be
many potential outcomes to a case, and these outcomes shape the way in which laws shift and
change thus having a profound impact on society as a whole our laws are what define our
civilization, values, beliefs, and morality. As Lord Dyson stated: The business of judging often
involves a choice between different conclusions, any of which it may be possible to reach by
respectable legal reasoning. The choice made is likely to be motivated at a far deeper level by the
judge s own approach to the law . This essay will cover the role of reasoning in judicial decision
making; how it allows judges to interpret statute and precedent, as well as leading the way for
reform and the establishing of new case law. It will also cover the limitations of reasoning, some of
which help keep the balance of power in check Such as binding precedent and the rule of law, as
well as other subconscious factors that may influence a judge s ability to use reason when making a
decision.
Reasoning plays an important role in judicial decision making. No matter how many precedent
cases, guidelines, and statutes may exist, reasoning will always be essential because it allows these
factors to be interpreted on a case by case basis; this is necessary because statutes are too limited to

Papua New Guinea Essay
Why are we driving cars and using cell phones, while people of Papua New Guinea are using
sticks and stones to chop down a tree and hunt?! It s all because of our geographical inequality.
Our world is so unequal depending on where you are in the world. People in Eurasia got the best
climate to grow wheat. What does wheat have to do with inequality? Wheat won t grow in Papua
New Guinea! Wheat grows in humid climates and takes little effort to grow and farm. Wheat is
an easy crop to harvest and grow, not to mention it takes very few people to go out, collect and
regrow it again. Not to mention that wheat can be stored for 7 8 months. People of Papua New
Guinealive in a tropical and very wet climate, not only that, but the ground is to dense to plant
wheat. That means People of Papua New Guinea can t get wheat. Instead they have to go out and
hunt for their food. One type of food that they eat, is called the Sago... Show more content on

Iron was mined and they needed better tools and weapons. Eurasia had a perfect climate for
keeping a hot fire (over 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit ). It took time and many failed attempts, to
actually forge steel. Then to turn it into tools and swords was another challenge. Spain mastered
the sword, light weight long swords with heavy counterweight pommels. Spain also made steel
plate armor for battle. The Spanish sailed to South America to eliminate the Incas to find
Eldorado, City of Gold. They kinda did, the Incas had only gold as their material. Gold was
common to them so they made almost everything of of gold. While the Spanish had steel swords
and armor. The Incas had gold and lots of it, but gold was too brittle to make swords and armor
out of it. The Incas were an army of thousands, and Spanish only hundreds on horseback and steel.
The Spanish conquered the Incas because of how powerful steel was, they also had a little help
from diseases, but that ll be covered

Workplace Motivation In The Workplace
One skill that managers and leaders must be able to exhibit is the ability to motivate their
employees. Administrators in all fields must find ways to hire, retain, and motivate employees
(Kroth, 2007). Workplace motivation is a result of a set of internal and external forces that cause
an employee to choose an appropriate course of action and engage in certain behaviors (Newstrom,
2015). Motivationalso requires discovering and understanding employee drives and needs, since it
originates within an individual (Newstrom, 2015). The beginning stages of motivation stem from
the manager and their behaviors, and also the employee and their drive. As we know, people tend
to develop certain motivational drives as a product of the cultural environment in which they live
(Newstrom, 2015). Engstrom Auto mirror plant began to face a recession in productivity and
employee motivation, while also facing a downturn in the industrial field as well. The plant
adopted the Scanlon Plan, the plan was originated by Joseph Scanlon in the 1930 s in order to help
small, distressed companies (Beers Collins, 2008). Problems began to develop at Engstrom when
the company began to redesign product lines to incorporate new technology. The long production
delays resulted in alienated customers, and the plant manager lacked the proper knowledge in
regards to the new technology. The plant manager was let go and Ron Bent was hired to attempt a
turnaround. Bent and Hayley had confidence in incentive

  • 2. Romanticism In The Raft Of The Medusa Romanticism, like most artistic movements, can best be understood when juxtaposed with history. It was a time of uprisings and conflicts, of liberal thought and confrontation and the winds of change swept away everyone and everything, from monarchies and governments to French farmers and salon owners. A new way of thinking and looking at the world was proposed; the shift revealed itself in the works of new artistic masters who broke out onto the scene, shocking the critics and the public (mostly bourgeois, old masters, and nobles) with their new styles that approached art in a way that challenged all traditions. Such changes can be tracked from the mass of altered techniques and change of focus, usually very manifest in most paintings, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The structure allows us to (1) put ourselves into that person s viewpoint, as if we were on that very site, feeling the winds brushing our faces and carrying smell of the open air, and (2) wonder what worries or thoughts are occupying that person s ... • 3. Napoleon III s Impact On France And Germany Napoleon III and Bismarck both had huge impacts on France and Germany respectively. Both men had great diplomatic skills and strong personalities which lead to all sorts of reforms within their nation. Both men are known for their leadership skills and for the Franco Prussian war, and even though the war technically ended by military means, both of their diplomatic skills had major impacts on the dynamic and outcome of the war. It is unclear to many how the war ended with a Prussian victory; and this is an attempt to explain what led to the war, and how those factors resulted into a Prussian victory. Napoleon III was born on April 20th 1808 as Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. His father is Napoleon s younger brother, making him one of Napoleon s nephews. After the imprisonment of Napoleon after Waterloo in 1815, he and his family were forced into exile by the French returning monarchy. He was not born as the heir to the Bonaparte claim to the French throne, but the premature death of Napoleon s only son and the death of his own older brother made him the apparent heir to claim. Observation Of Teaching A Teacher s Classroom I have a good friend, Courtney, who is doing her student teaching in a fourth grade classroom at Faubion elementary school, and she arranged for me to come in to observe her cooperating teacher s classroom. On Friday, December 1st at 10 o clock I had the opportunity to observe Mrs. Makara s classroom for 45 minutes while the class was doing readingstations. The class is organized into six table groups with five students in each group. Mrs. Makara s overhead screen hangs in the front of the room near her table. I noticed that the class was arranged this way in order for all the students to all easily see the screen as well as collaborate with one another for the assignments and projects that are assigned in class. When I came into the classroom Mrs. Makara was finishing up teaching a math lesson. She was using a document camera to project the worksheet that students had in front of them on screen. She was also using a microphone while talking to the class. Courtney later informed me that was because one of their students has a hearing impairment so both Courtney and Mrs. Makara use the microphone when speaking to the class. Mrs. Makara assigned a couple of math problems for the students to work with their table groups to figure out. After each group figured out the answer to the problem Mrs. Makara asked for one volunteer to come up and project their work on the overhead projector. The student showed her work and talked through how her group figured out the solution. Afterward, Mrs. Makara asked all the students to put away their math work and get ready for readingstations. While the students were working to put away their math work Mrs. Makara used her computer to pull up a slide showing the different reading stations. When I asked my friend about how the students were split into groups she informed me that they split them up based on their reading levels because in their class the reading levels are at a wide spectrum. There are some students who are reading at a sixth grade level and others that are reading at a K 1 level. Therefore, the only way they could differentiate reading instruction was by splitting the students into groups based on their reading levels and having them go to the stations that ... As the 1960 s started off positive and hopeful, there was now many Americans left devastated from the depressing events that occurred after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, such as the Vietnam War. There was also a conflict in the movie scene because Hollywood directors were torn between the old styles of filming and the new techniques. By 1980, this conflict was finally resolved and a new hollywood era was created. There are two things that immediately come to mind when I think about social justice in the real world. Education is one. Typically, people are more prone to go to college if their parents or siblings go to college. Going back to the topic of East Des Moines, East high school is not a school that is looked well upon. The teachers are underpaid and most of the students do not care about their education enough to go to class everyday. Knowing this, students from schools like that are less likely to go on to college and get an education. This then leads to them not getting good jobs and making enough money to support themselves. I believe that this is an injustice because those students do not choose to go to schools like that, but they get started off on the wrong foot right from the start. People look down on them because of the school they go to. The other thing I think about when I hear the word social justice is Racism. Segregation is something that most people don t think is still a problem, but unfortunately it is. They view segregation as an unfortunate holdover from a racist past, one that is fading progressively overtime (Massey 1). In Katha Pollitt s essay entitled The Hunger Games Feral Feminism, Pollitt writes about what reality television might look like if taken to extremes. Reality television is a huge part of our culture today, and I not only agree with Pollitt s views and ideas of what reality TV would look if taken to the extremes, but I believe that we have already gotten to that point. Today s reality TV shows such as Keeping up with the Kardashians , The Bachelorette or any of the Real Housewives are among many of today s popular shows that focus on extreme aggression, bullying, physical beauty, and sex appeal. These TV shows teach us that it is not only ok to compromise morals and values, but that type of behavior accepted and rewarded. In today s age, reality TV generally has to go negative and go to the extreme in order for it to be interesting despite the lasting impact that it may have on viewers. Reality TV has an impact on the values of their viewers and alters how they may perceive real life situations. God s loveis unfailing and unconditional for all of humanity and that was proven in and through the love story of Hosea and Gomer. In this paper, I will cover God s peculiar instructions for Hosea, Hosea and Gomer s story, Hosea s heartbreak, the state of Israel during this time, and God s unfailing love for Israel. God s Peculiar Instructions for Hosea In Hosea 1:2, God gives Hosea instructions to go out and marry an adulterous wife and have children of unfaithfulness. God told Hosea to do this because Israel is guilty of the vilest adultery in departing from the Lord. In the next verse, Hosea married Gomer, and Gomer had three children back to back and God told Hosea to name them names that represented His broken relationship with Israel (Hosea 1:4 8). In fact, many of Shakespeare s main settings are based on real Scottish landmarks. One of these landmarks is the ancient fort of Dunsinane, which is Shakespeare s setting for the castle of the king of Scotland. The Moral Philosophy Of Ethical Egoism Timothy Walter PHI101 5:45PM Research Paper The Moral Philosophy of Ethical Egoism Let him be the best of men, and let him be thought the worst; then he will have been put to the proof; and we shall see whether he will be affected by the fear of infamy and its consequences. And let him continue thus to the hour of death; being just and seeming to be unjust. When both have reached the uttermost extreme, the one of justice and the other of injustice, let judgment be given which is the happier of the two. Glaucon, from The Republic (Pojman, Vaughn, 464). Every day there are children dying of starvation in poor countries all over the world. In more prosperous countries people are afforded luxuries such as lavish cars and weekly movies at the cinema. If asked, these people will tell you that we do, in fact, have a moral obligation to help the children if we are in a position to do so. So why, do we choose to buy the luxury car? Why do we spend enough to feed a small village on one trip to the cinema with family? It is because deep inside we know that our primary concern is our own self interest; the pursuit of happiness. Ethical egoism at first glance seems counter intuitive, however, upon deeper inspection we see that ethical egoism is the moral philosophy that should be adopted if we wish to obtain the goal of happiness. Ethical egoism is the ethical view that one ought to do whatever and only whatever is in one s own maximum interest, benefit, advantage, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is a socially and politically constructed category of individuals who are assumed to share common inborn biological traits, such as bone structure, hair type, skin, or eye color. These distinctions have been used to the detriment or advantage of American groups over time. Whereas ethnicity is associated with culture factors. It is often tied to nationality of origin and characterized by a person s ethnic traits, customs, and/or associations. Raceand ethnicity in some ways go hand in hand and in other ways differ. Although the similarities are not quite the same they still have the same concept. Today s society plays a huge role in defining these terms. Humans have been separated into biological races. Although all humans belong to the same species, there are minor genetic differences around the world that generate distinct physical appearances, such as variations in skin color. There was a time when religion, social status, and language were more important than physical appearances. The term race, with ambiguous meaning, has transformed over time. However, the laws enacted are general provisions that do not explain how they should be utilized. Consequently, federal, state, and local agencies must define the policies and regulations of the statutes. The rules and regulations established by the agency are known as administrative laws (Walsh, Maniotis, Kemerer, 2014). Educators must follow the laws passed by the state legislature such as the TexasEducationCode (TEC), which contains numerous guidelines related to the education of our students (Essex, 2008). Administrative laws impact the daily instruction of the K 12 education system. Educators must be cognizant of these laws because the laws ensure a successful learning environment for all students. On the one hand, he understood the importance in addressing some of the largest health issues of our time. He himself said I just spent roughly $600 million of my own money to try to stop the scourge of tobacco {NYT} Positive Aspects: The Mayor took charge of the fight against numerous issues and implemented some of the strictest public health legislation in the world. Some of the more notable examples were his stances on smoking and obesity. Not only did Bloomberg make policies, which directly addressed the core cause of the issues, but also he succeeded in levying the blame and burden of these policies upon the industries that were profiteering at the cost of the public s health. Among the most significant of these policies were the efforts to tax sugary drinks and ban others in a move that stated that the sale of any cup or bottle of sweetened drink larger than 16 fluid ounces about the size of a medium coffee, and smaller than a common soda bottle would be prohibited {NYT}. The first instance was when Bruce looked at the altar boy and her mother just rolled her eyes at him. Then Alison had a narration stating But would an ideal husband and father have sex with teenage boys? (pg.17). It was quite a telling scene about her mother s attitude towards her father. She was willing to let her husband prey after young boys instead of protecting them. It also surprised me how hypocritical Bruce was. On their trip to New York, when John wandered off, Bruce was extremely alarmed and he mentioned a phrase Chickenhawks . Elly defined them as men that prey on boys. Securing the Castilian Throne Essay example To suggest that Isabella was successful from the outset in securing the Castilian crown and the support of its people would be a foolish interpretation. It took ten years before she was fully accepted as rightful ruler, during which time a number of important factors developed that today can be seen as the clearest reasons for her success. Paramount among these was her determined, intellectual and shrewd personality and character. Without these traits, the other factors would have been irrelevant. In October 1469, Isabella was married to Ferdinand of Aragon. What is interesting here is the terms of the treaty drawn up after the ceremony that both of them signed. In the early years of Ferdinand and Isabella s union, the advantages were firmly weighted in favour of Castile. This is no great surprise as, after all, there was no problem with a succession in Aragon. Influences that Ferdinand had over affairs concerning Castilian affairs most concerned the military. He and his troops played a vital role in putting down rebellions in towns and cities. Men were supplied (in line with the terms of the marriage contract) from Castile to help stave off and defeat the Portuguese as well as supporters of Joanna Enriquez, who was Isabella s main rival to the throne. Because Ferdinand played an important part in halting these problems, the union between Isabella and Ferdinand, and the acquiescence that Ferdinand and Aragon showed them, can be seen to be a significant contributor to Isabella s eventual victory in 1479. The fact that Ferdinand s presence was not too overbearing helped keep grandees happy. They were important members of society. Isabella needed their support and without it she would have struggled to retain popularity and secure her throne. Therefore, before even becoming Queen, it was imperative that she had them on her side, away from Joanna. Originally, only a few grandee families supported Isabella s cause. One thing we are studying is how from at such a young age, we are taught to assign gender roles. In Patricia J. Williams magazine article, Are We Worried about Storm s Identity or Our Own , an essay taken out of the Nation magazine (June 2011), she tells a story about Storm, whose parents choose not to reveal the sex of their baby. She is a legal scholar and examines issues related to law and culture. Williams focuses on all the stereotypes that we associate with gender, how we as a society find social order in assigning gender roles, and the need to have the proper pronouns so that we know how/what to label a person. The author s use of ethos and logos really brings the point home that we need to be more open about all the possibilities associated with gender and pronouns. In the beginning of her essay, Williams use of ethos makes the reader question as to why we have to associate certain words with boys and girls.
