American DJ Jelly Domes can be used for event lighting effects in various ways. They produce bright, aerial beam effects by hanging them from roofs like mirror balls or pointing them at audiences, walls, or upward. Their wide 150-degree beam angle provides good coverage from just one light. Variables like movement speed and color can be controlled to match themes or song styles. In photos, the beams in the air and light haze from a smoke machine are clearly visible. These lighting effects will be used in two locations in a video project - with two domes in a garden shed and one dome near a pool - to bridge themes of loneliness and movement of life in a way that links to lyrics about clouds rolling in.

Hidden Markov Random Fields and Swarm Particles: a Winning Combination in Ima...EL-Hachemi Guerrout
Image segmentation, a process used to partition images into distinctive regions, is a crucial task in many nowadays ubiquitous applications. Several methods have been developed to perform segmentation. We present a method that combines Hidden Markov Random Fields (HMRF) and Particle Swarm Optimisation (PSO) to perform segmentation. HMRF is used for modelling the segmentation problem. This elegant model leads to an optimization problem. The latter is solved using PSO method whose parameters setting is a task in itself. We conduct a study for the choice of parameters that give a good segmentation. The quality of segmentation is evaluated on grounds truths images using Misclassification Error criterion. We use the NDT (Non Destructive Testing) image dataset to evaluate several segmentation methods. These results show a supremacy of the HMRF-PSO method over threshold based techniques.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. American DJ Jelly Domes – effect event lighting
These lighting effects are very effective and bright creating a big Ariel effect.
They can be used in many ways and for lots of different applications including
handing them from a roof like a mirror ball or pointing them directly at an
audience, pointing them up in the air for beam effects or to point them to a wall
or area to show the many dots that move around. Because of each domes wide
beam angle you can get very good coverage out of even just one light, over 150
degree’s which in my case means that I can create a full wall of beams behind the
performer. Many other elements are also available to control such as the speed
of the movement and the colour of the light which means that I can choose a
colour that could show my related theme or song style, because the song that I
have choose is a slow tempo song I have made the domes just go around at a very
low speed. In the above picture it is clearly visible to see the multiple beams in
the air, a smoke machine that I have placed at the back of the room has created
this. The smoke that I have used creates a very light haze effect, which means
that the smoke is not thick in the air but there is enough to create the beam
effect.
The colour that I have choose to use a lighting test is white as it’s the most
powerful colour that can be created and it gives me an ides of the brightness and
the effect to the song. The reason that I did not try another colour is because if I
know white works and that the light itself fits the song then other colours that I
am thinking of using will fit.
This effect will be used in two locations in my video. The main one will be in the
picture above in the garden shed where I will have two of these domes running,
the other will be near the pool in the garden and that will be with one dome.
I believe that these lights fit the theme really well. I am using them to show a
bridge between the loneliness of the lead actor and performer and the
movement of life and the continuation of life. Also I feel it links directly with the
lyrics as it talks about cloud rolling in and I think this shows that.
