Personal Philosophy Essay Examples
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Personal Philosophy Essay Examples" presents a unique set
of challenges. Firstly, delving into one's personal philosophy requires a deep introspection and
thoughtful examination of one's beliefs, values, and principles. This self-reflection process can
be both time-consuming and emotionally demanding.
Furthermore, finding suitable examples to illustrate and support your personal philosophy adds
another layer of complexity. It requires a careful selection of experiences, anecdotes, or real-life
situations that effectively convey the essence of your philosophical standpoint. The challenge lies
in striking a balance between personal depth and universal relevance to engage the reader
effectively.
Articulating these thoughts coherently is another hurdle. Translating abstract concepts into clear
and persuasive language demands a precise and eloquent expression of ideas. Ensuring that the
essay flows seamlessly and maintains the reader's interest throughout is a skill that may take time
to master.
Additionally, addressing potential counterarguments and presenting a well-rounded perspective
contributes to the overall difficulty. It involves anticipating possible objections to your
philosophy and skillfully addressing them, showcasing a nuanced understanding of opposing
viewpoints.
In essence, writing a compelling essay on personal philosophy requires a delicate interplay of
self-exploration, persuasive writing, and the ability to connect with readers on a personal and
intellectual level. Despite the challenges, the process can be immensely rewarding as it allows for
profound self-discovery and the opportunity to articulate one's worldview.

Conservatism Ideology
i)Conservatism as an Ideology
Conservatism is an ideology that strongly values tradition and continues to utilise
the policies put in place by our ancestors before us. Because tradition is fundamental
to conservatives they are very susceptible to change their policies: change will only
be supported if it does no harm and if this can be clearly demonstrated (Young, 2015).
Conservatism itself is a pragmatic ideology with no real goals or purpose other than
to preserve the traditions put in by the generations previous to us.
Conservatives look backwards, not forwards (Alexander, 2014)
Conservatives believe that we have a debt to those who are dead as well as those
who are alive (Alexander, 2014) meaning that humans owe so much to their ... Show

Even if a socialist is conscious of history and wants to understand it, he does not
suppose that we owe a debt to the traditions found in history
What is meant by this quote is that we can reflect on our past, but not dedicate our
lives to recreating history in order to pay our ancestors back for all they have done
for us: the conservative... does suppose we owe such a debt (Alexander, 2014).
Human nature from both socialism and conservatism can relate to the quote.
Socialism reflects back on previous points in time so they can interpret and
understand the way of thinking by political thinkers and policy makers at the time,
but doesn t feel they need to incorporate the traditions of political movements to
create social continuity. Conservatives look back on political movements and points
of time in history and examines the political processes involved in certain
situations. As a sign of respect to their ancestors and a way to pay back the debt to
them; they introduce and incorporate the traditions and political ideas into modern
day society as they believe it is what is necessary to pay them
The Royal Pavilion
The Royal Pavilion The Royal Pavilion was a very fashionable building in it s day.
The architecture was quite fashionable as it used the idillic style which was

Royal Pavilion used was unfashionable. On the outside of the Pavilion the Prince
also used the neo classical style which was fashionable back then. Trompe l oeil

Hi, I m Danny. I m applying to be your Quote of the day person. One reason I have
chosen this job, in particular, is due to my love for quotes and sharing them;

other words, It s saying that If you don t have the willingness to learn no one can
help you, but yourself because the willingness to learn is a choice and if you have
the dedication, determination to do it then nothing and no one can stop you from
learning. Teachers open the door, but you must enter yourself. Moreover,

Driving Into Downtown Tucson
Driving into downtown Tucson there is always traffic. Cars are either finding
parking spots or just passing through to head to where they have to go. There are
small stores that are smashed in between tall buildings. Some of them are empty.
When you talk to your parents they talk about the time when downtown was full of
life, almost the opposite now. Although it may have old buildings that were the
highlight of our parent s younger days, it is not the historic place you think about.
Before there was the TCC or the downtown district, Tucson was enriched with the
lives of the Mexican people who lived here. They had their homes built next to each
other and the plaza to shop at and visit. This was also where Black Americans and
Asian Americans held their businesses either at their homes or in buildings. It was a
community of togetherness and a place people could make into their homes... Show

Some are of old Mexican ladies and there is an image of a young man and his
friend dressed in the similar Pachuco style that causes chaos in Los Angeles during
the time of War World 2. This is a positive sign since before they were characterized
as punks who were nothing but trouble. Now him and his friend grace the wall
near our city streets. Another way the downtown area of Tucson shows its
Mexican side is the annual Dia de los Muertos parade. This parade is held around
Halloween time where families and fellow Tucsonans gather together and march
with music and face paintings to honor the dead. This is a Mexican tradition that
came from Mexico and is celebrated very proudly every year. In my opinion, if you
were to use downtown to describe the people, you would never describe us right.
This town and its people are heavily Mexican. Look around, we are everywhere. But
there is just a small showcase of that. The street names may still have Calle in front of
them, they may even be in Spanish but that is not
The Cahnging Role and Status of the Artist 1300-1600
The Changing Role and Status of the Artist 1300 1600
To explore the changing role and status of the artist during the period 1300 1600
we have first to look at the period of time prior to this. For a thousand years before,
Rome had ruled most of Europe, bringing new developments in technology, education
and government, but after Rome fell to invaders in 542 CE, Western Europe became
stagnant, a period we now term as the Middle Ages. Ordinary people did not venture
far from their hamlets. Local lords ruled with fear and intimidation. Learning took
place only in religious houses, and generations grew up ignorant, illiterate, and
superstitious of outsiders. Artists and merchants during this time formed

Caterina van Hemessen (1528 until after1587) was a Flemish painter. As with many
Renaissance female painters, she was the daughter of a painter, Jan Sanders van
Hemesson
(c. 1500 after 1563), and he was probably her teacher. She is the earliest female
Flemish painter for whom there are verifiable works still existing.
In the late Renaissance the training of artists began to move from the workshops and
to the Academy and women began a long struggle to be able to access this training.
To study the human form required working from male nudes and corpses, and
women were generally thought to be too sensitive and were barred from this type of
training.
Her success is marked by her good standing in the Guild of Saint Luke, and her
eventual position as teacher to three male students. Her patron in the 1540 s was
Maria, Queen of Hungary. In 1554, she married Christian (or ChrГ©tien) de Morien,
an organist at the cathedral in Antwerp, which was at that time an important
position. In 1556, when the Queen of Hungary resigned her position Caterina and
her husband also moved to Spain, on invitation of her patron, to Spain. Two years
later, when Maria died, Caterina was given a sizeable pension for life.

Feed Machine Advantages And Disadvantages
There are advantages and disadvantages that will be exist if we using the feed
machine instead of not using any machines. The advantages that we can observe is
save time and energy. This is because every machine that had been invented is high
technology and can do a various function for a long period of time. Since that the
machine can do a various function, we can say that we can save a lot of time
because the machine can produce a lot of feed in a short period of time and the
feed also can be produced fast and in economic way. In the aspect of energy, we can
also save the energy since that there are reduction of workers that will be used
because of the machine can do their activities by their own without any disturbance

The animal performance also can be improved when the feed are more uniformed in
size and shape compared to powder diet, so they can be taken easily by the animals
due to their high density. The feed also become more compact of the nutrients and
energy that will make the size of the animals become increased rapidly. The size of
the pellet become uniform in size and shape is due to the feed pellet mill that
functions as to make the ingredients to become a pellet. The feed machine also
function to decreased feed wastage because of the pelleting process prevents the
segregation of ingredients in a mixing, handling or feeding process, so animals can
take in all the nutrition contained in the feed. Other than that, the heat generated from
the pelleting process in conditioning and pelleting make the feedstuffs more
digestible by breaking down the starches. From this situation, the pellet will become
more palatable to the animals. After that, feed machine also can reduce the selective
feeding among the animals because of most of the ingredients of the formulation had

Operation Eagle Claw, And It Was A Failure
November 4th 1979American personnel at the US embassy are taken hostage in
Teheran, Iran. The United States had never faced a hostage situation like this before.
It did not have the Joint Special Operations Task Force trained in planning the
mission or the resources for low visibility clandestine missions. The mission to save
the hostages is called Operation Eagle Claw, and it was a failure. This mission on the
other hand highlighted areas in the military that need tobe improved, and when the

Militant student, followers of the Ayatollah stormed the Embassy and took all

a few people remained behind its gates. The students only planned to take the
hostages for a few days, hopping that the United States would return the ousted Shah,
to face trial. When the US refused, to return the Shah, the stalemate began, and the
students held the hostages for 444 days.
The US realized that the hostages are not being released as before, and a rescue
mission was needed to secure their freedom. A group was quickly put together to
plan the rescue. Dubbed Operation Rice Bowl, flag officers from every branch of the

Separation Of Powers And The United Kingdom s...
This essay is aimed to focus on and examine the importance of having a separation of
powers and the reasons for having same in the United Kingdom s constitution. We
shall further look into the structure of the United Kingdom s constitution whilst
assessing its somewhat unclear separation of powers which exist and assess the
reasons why the United Kingdoms system of government does not adhere to the
doctrine of the separation of powers. The separation of powers is defined as the
political doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are
divided to prevent an abuse of power. These three branches are the Legislative,
Executive and Judicial and are assigned special powers to maintain a check and
balance on each other. In this essay, we shall further go on to discuss the roles and
functions of each of the mentioned branches of government and the extent to which
this defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United Kingdom s
system of government taking into account the traditional structure that has been
maintained over the years.
Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative,
which discusses everything of common importance; second the officials; and third,
the judicial element. These three elements as defined by Aristotle are now known as
our Legislative, Executive and Judicial arms of the United Kingdom s system of
government.

Local Governments In Texas
In Texas local governments play a major role in the wellbeing and safety of its
citizens. In each county of Texas there are an average of about 19 general purpose
governments, that means that all the county general purpose local governments
combined would be more than 4,800. In the United States of America all but two
states have governmental units known as counties or parishes. County government is
primarily a way of governing rural areas, because Texasis so vast, with huge areas that
are sparsely populated, county government remains an important aspect of local
government. County governments in rural areas do not actually have the ability to
govern themselves, they act more as an extension of state government. Municipalities

Law enforcement is another one of the important services that the county
government must supply it citizens with. In Texas, the counties have control over
law enforcement budget, but it is often the sheriff who will decide how its spent.
The person in charge of this job is usually a sheriff or constables. Every county in
the state of Texas has a sheriff and a county court which belongs to said sheriff.
Often times operating a county jail can be very expensive especially when the jail
has a capacity of 13 and there s is only one single inmate in the entire facility.
Traditionally in Texas the office of constable has been an elective office with limited
duties. Some constables change their offices into full fledged police departments.
Some constables offices have traffic enforcement roles, some enforce truancy laws,
and some even have formed heavily armed, tactical units that patrol high crime areas

My Son, My Executioner Essay
My Son, My Executioner
In the Donald Hall poem, My Son, My Executioner, Hall depicted a father who has
grown old, holding their young child in their arms. Hall portrayed strong imagery
of a fatherly figure giving up everything to care for his young child. The tone of the
poem is both happy and dark. Hall s theme showed that once a person has a child, the
parent s life is completely changed. My Son, My Executioner is a very well written
poem with a deep, true meaning that readers could relate to. The imagery helps Hall
depict a father caring for their young child. Hall is first telling the reader that the
father is with his child. The child seems to be very young because the father takes
the child in his arms. I take you in my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem could either be taken in a happy tone or a dark tone. The main theme
Hall is trying to express is that once a person has a child, their lives are changed
forever. In the first line, My son, my executioner, is saying that once a child comes
into the world, in a sense the parent s life is taken away. Yet as morbid as that
sounds, the parent s life is made eternal through their child forever. The father
knows his time is now focused on his son. There is a reversal of roles, as the child
gets bigger and stronger, the father gets weaker and will die. Sweet death, small
son, our instrument/of immortality. Another problem was that the parents had their
child young. That day the child was born, their lives were changed and it will
never be the same again. We twenty five and twenty two. In conclusion, Donald
Hall portrays a father who has grown old, holding their young child in their arms. .
The way Hall used imagery, showed the reader a fatherly figure that gives up
everything to care for his son. The tone of the poem was important because it let
the reader know that the poem could be seen as happy or dark. The theme showed
the readers that once they have a child, their lives are changed forever. My Son, My
Executioner is a very well written poem with a deep, true meaning that readers, along
with parents, could relate
How Did Emily Dickinson Influence Her Work
Emily Dickinson is currently considered one of the most famous American authors,
despite the fact that her work was not well known in her own day. Emily was
notable to American Literature, and she sealed the road for several of today s poets.
She was a creative poet, determined writer, and an extreme introvert who never gave
up. Emily Dickinsonwas born on December 10, 1830 and passed away at age 55 on
May 15, 1886. ( Emily Famous). Having grown up in poverty, it influenced her
poems greatly. Emily Dickinson s father, Edward Dickinson, was a lawyer, a
member of Congress, and the treasurer of Amherst College ( Emily Encyclopedia).
Dickinson s mother, Emily Norcross Dickinson was from Monson ( Emily Famous).

It is very popular because she uses this metaphor through a bird, showing that even
in the hard times we should still have hope ( Emily Study). Theres many reasons
why this poem is so popular, one being the way she puts commas around the word
hope (O Connor). Hope is the Thing with Feathers is also a very positive poem,
and many people feel as if it speaks right to the heart (O Connor). There is a lot of
reviews saying that it just has a pleasant type of message (O Connor). Many people
also find it a very good description of hope, and many people love it because they
feel as if they can relate to it (O Connor). This poem was published in 1891 in the
2nd collection of Dickinson s work, Poems by Emily Dickinson, second series (
Hope Encyclopedia). My opinion of Hope is the Thing with Feathers would have
to be that she was very clear with her message. Not only do I feel that I can relate
to it, I feel as if many other people can relate to it. That poems main point is about
hope and how you should believe in it whenever things are not looking up for you,
and I think that is very true. Many times people get discouraged and think that there
is nothing left but there is, and it is hope. I highly agree with Dickinson in her poem
Hope is the Thing with Feathers . Other people who have written reviews on the
poem say that it gives them chills, and that they adored this poem
Theoretical Essay On Domestic Violence
Nadeen Hamdan
INTS 314 Theoretical Essay 1
February 8, 2016
Domestic Violence is unfortunately a huge social issue that occurs all over the world.
Domestic Violence is a type of exploitation that occurs in a household. This
exploitation may include some sort of physical, emotion, or mental abuse. We
typically tend to believe that domestic violence transpires in an intimate relationship
between a man and a woman. Although this logic may appear more often, we must
understand the general idea behind what domestic violence truly means.
Perpetuators of domestic violence are defined to be the more dominate individual
taking advantage of the victim. Once the perpetuator is able to gain control over the
victim, it is extremely hard to get out of. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child, I was beat many times due to what I always believed to be misbehavior.
Although there have been times where my beatings would be due to my
disobedience, it was more than just that. It was primarily due to aggression that my
father carried home from a stressful day. When I was younger, my sisters and I
understood that once my dad arrived home from work, that we should be extremely
cautious of everything we do. For instance, talking and playing too loud was
frowned upon. His methods of violence included beatings with shoes, coat hanger,
belts, and sometimes just anything he can grab his hands on. Looking back and
understanding why my dad did what he did was due to stress. He was put under a
lot of pressure trying to sustain and support family by making ends meat. He is
self employed as a taxi driver, so there are days where he may make money, and
other times where he may not. It s almost as a gamble, due to no consistent income.
Unfortunately he wasn t aware on how to properly deal with his aggression. His
aggression had lead me to hate as well as be scared of him. My healing process
began as I grew older to defend myself. As I physically grew, I began to fight and
yell back which caught him off guard. By repeating this action, the violence
eventually stopped. He begun to realize his mistake and took initiative to apologize.
This particular experience is what lead my interest to research more about the

and change, while a cataclysmic revolution is a sudden and violent event that brings
great changes. The extent to which the American Revolution was an accelerated
evolution was during events that completely disregarded the government. When
considered politically, economically and socially the extent to which the American

The colonists call for self rule increased with each new act passed. Instead of
listening to the American colonists, Britain kept passing new acts. An example that
shows the extent to which politically the American Revolution can be called an
accelerated evolution rather than a cataclysmic revolution are the battles of
Lexington and Concord. The increased want for independence led the colonists to
create a continental army and begin their fight for change. In 1775, Massachusetts
was proclaimed to be in an open rebellion and British General Thomas Gage was
ordered to put a stop to it. On April 18, 1775 General Gage dispatched 700 soldiers
to capture colonial leaders and supplies at Concord. Fortunately, Paul Revere and
other riders were able to warn the patriots of the attack and at dawn militiamen
confronted the British troops first at Lexington and then Concord. After these battles
73 British soldiers were dead, 174 wounded and 26 were missing. Americans
suffered too with 49 Massachusetts militiamen killed and 39 wounded. The battles at
Lexington and Concord show a more radical way that the colonists chose to achieve
independence from Britain. Due to violence and a want for rapid change, the battles
of Lexington and Concord show politically how the American Revolution can almost
be a cataclysmic revolution. The American Revolution did not happen suddenly, but
built up more as each new act
Fracking Industry Research Paper
One of the greatest concerns today is the damage that industries cause to the
environment. As the gas industries have grown in America, the concern that the
extraction of natural gas from the undergrown increase. With this mention, it is
normal than environmentalist tries to blame contamination to the fracking
industries. First, the shells protect the water for touching chemicals that are on the
field or the engineers use. Next, chemicals that are used in the drill are of daily use
to our life, as an example, sand, detergents, pool cleaners, and more. Lastly, the drill
does not cause any earthquake. Fracking has been going for several years, and there
has not been a single proof that this procedure cause any damage to the environment.

Each industry has their own mixture of chemicals that are added to the water for
the drill procedure. Nevertheless, all the mixtures are created by chemical
engineers, who are more than capable to create a mixture that will not damage the
environment. A new measurement has been introduced by U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin
and Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Barbara Boxer. The measurement stated
that all fracking chemical industries should inform of all location where they store
the chemicals every five years, in addition, they should inform of the location every
three years if there is any water facility closed by ( Toxic Chemical Regulations ).
This create a regulation of all the chemical industries to have a control of their use.
One of the most common mistakes people has are the amount and types of chemicals
that are used in the projects. Weeks let the readers know that, the data is available to
EPA staff with clearances (qtd in U.S Oil Dependance). All the chemicals are

the EPA will not approve a mixture that does not pass regulations. The misunderstood

company was founded in 1912 and is located in Freeport, Maine. The company began
in a single room in Maine selling its first and only product, the Maine HuntingShoe
which is currently known as the L.L Bean Boot. The production of the first pair of
the Maine boots can be traced back to 1911. The founder, Mr. L.L Bean was an
avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Mr. L.L Bean discovered that while outdoors the
usual pair of boots he adorned did not protect his feet from getting wet and cold. Mr.
Leon, consequently, decided to design his own pair of outdoor shoes by combining

The boots main features have remained largely the same apart from a few tweaks,
for instance, the addition of a chain pattern design in the late 1940 s. The demand
for the boot has swung up and down over its 100 year history. In 2011, the
outdoorsy aesthetic became somewhat cool, and after that, they have been a spate
of shortages every few years. This typically happens after the autumn season (Lam,
2015). The fashion world has had a part to play in stemming up demand for the L.L
Bean boot. Moreover, the production of the boot is still done within the United
States and the materials are locally sourced in Maine. However, the downside of
local production which still relies on man hours is that there are fewer people with
the skill of handmaking footwear. The Maine boot s demand is at an all time high,
and the end does not seem to be near. To capitalize on this, the company has
produced a limited edition classic make over of the duck boot with varying colors
and styles (Calfas, 2017). Such developments coupled with recurrent stock outs seem
to be increasing demand for the boat. The boot has had more than 100 year history.
Its aesthetics are not as glamorous, but its survival has largely depended on its
quality, pricing and the fact that it is made in
The Is Not The Right Word Essay
How many people will I kill in my lifetime? I am not some deranged serial killer
with deadly intentions, but I am a person that is aware that my actions could have
ramifications that I cannot possibly fathom. Perhaps kill is not the right word.
How many deaths will I be responsible for by the time I leave this earth? Much
better. As Susan Griffin asserts in Our Secret , the lives of everyone on this planet
are much more intertwined that most like to believe. As are the lives of those who
have come before, and those that will come after. This is what she refers to as us
being part of a larger matrix . There is a particular scene in a favorite movie of
mine, Good Will Hunting, which I think perfectly sums up this idea. Why shouldn

These painting techniques show the influences of master ink paintings done by Dong

24 February 2016 Animal Cruelty There are many cruel things that people are doing
to hurt and neglect animals. This is called animal cruelty, and animal cruelty is
when someone harms an animal or does not care for that animal responsibly, such as
not giving a cat or dog food or water and not providing them with veterinary care.
People who neglect animals should be punished and not have the right to own an

and hurry up and help the animal that is being abused, you should not do this
because it is very unsafe and you should always proceed with caution. The ways to
do this safely, is to not touch, which basically means do not try to stop the person
who is the abuser because you may end up actually hurting yourself instead. Also, get
an adult after you see the harsh cruelty happening and tell either family or that adult
what you saw so they can call the animal clinic. Although you may be telling the
The Court Of Justice Of The European Union
The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is a governing body ensuring
law in the European Union (EU) is interpreted and applied in the same manner in
every country in the EU, and also ensures countries and EU institutions abide by EU
law. The CJEU was founded in Luxembourg in 1952 and can settle legal disputes
between national governments and EU institutions. The CJEU can also be used by
individuals, companies or organizations to take legal action against an EU institution,
if they feel that the institution has violated or infringed upon their rights. The Court
can give rulings on the cases that are brought before it based on interpreting the law,
enforcing the law, annulling EU legal acts, ensuring the EU takes action, or
sanctioning EU institutions ( Presentation ). The CJEU is divided into three bodies,
the Court of Justice, the General Court and the Civil Service Tribunal. The Court of
Justice deals with requests for preliminary ruling from national courts and certain
actions for annulment. They also deal with appeals brought before the CJEU. The
General Court rules on actions for annulment brought by companies, individuals and
EU governments. This body generally deals with competition law, State aid, trade,
agriculture and trade marks. The Civil Service tribunal deals with disputes between
the EU and its employees. The judges and Advocates General are appointed for a 6
year term that can be renewed by their national governments. In each of the three

Thin Layer Chromatography ( Tlc )
Thin layer chromatography (TLC) is a technique used to identify components
within a compound and determine the compounds purity. The purpose of this
experiment is to determine what solvent works the best at separating the different
pigments of the paprika extract. The solvents used to develop the plate are hexane
and methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE), as well as three mixtures of the two solutions
(5% MTBE in hexane, 10% MTBE in hexane, and 30% MTBE in hexane). Hexane
is a non polar alkane that is used as a solvent for many different things and MTBE
is a polar ether that is used as a fuel additive. In this experiment, five TLC plates
were set up and ran in each of the five prepared solvents. There are four steps when
performing TLC which include: spot (touch the capillary to the plate briefly so the
compound runs out and forms a small spot on the plate), develop (choose a solvent
to develop the plate, then place the slide in the developing chamber), visualize
(when the solvent reaches the stop line, remove and visualize the data), and
calculate (measure the distance between the spot and start line to calculate the Rf
values). Rf= Distance traveled by spot Distance traveled by solvent Procedure

According to the Stanford University webpage fair use is any copying of
copyrighted material done for a limited and transformative purpose. Transformative
in this interpretation refers to the process by which copyrighted works are used in
creative or alternative manners in which something new is created or made use of.
The nature of how transformative a work is often aids in determining the eligibility
for the first of the fair usefactors. When determining the legality of copyrightissues,
Courts often look to four factors which have been laid out as qualifiers and
evaluators for fair use in a given dispute. These four factors are not concrete in
interpretation and therefore results of given disputes can vary based on the Court...

variation in scope under which the Three s Company parody was presented. The
second fair use factor is the nature of the copyrighted work. This holds that work of
a factual nature can be used more readily than fictional or created work. The public

The Necessity to Swap Ethnic Profiling for Behavioral...
Humanity has always strived to become more civilized . Whether it was the
manipulation of fire, the domestication of animals, the invention of electricity or the
exploration of space, the goal has always been to become more advanced than our
predecessors. We think of civilization as the opposite of brutality and we associate
the former with peace and the latter with violence. For this reason, we are unable to
deem a racethat has walked on the moon as a violent race. However, civilization
doesn t abolish violence it simply removes the individual s right to be violent and
bestows it into the hands of a separate entity (like the military). (Lancaster)

For this reason, ethnic profiling should carry less weight in the decision making of
law enforcement agents and in the realm of criminal justice. In turn, the criminal
justice system should promote the use behavioral profiling, a more effective
alternative with a lesser rate of wrongful arrests.
There is no scientific proof that links crime and race. In fact, most psychologists
admit that ethnic profiling is not scientifically reliable. (Boylan) Nevertheless, no
one has attempted to eradicate it until recently. This is because America s
imprisonment rates were not rising at an alarming rate until a couple of decades
ago. Now that hyper incarceration is a problem experts have begun searching for its
root, and ethnic profiling has surfaced as a probable cause of hyper incarceration.
When you analyses the inner workings of racial profiling you find a direct correlation
between the impact of ethnic profiling and the anxiety levels of the population. In
other words, as people become more scared the likelihood that they will perform or
tolerate racial profiling increases.
Fear and violence go hand in hand, and the 50 s and 60 s left America trembling with
fear. During this period we observed the height of the Cold War and the Civil Rights
Movement. Apparently, the threat of communism and the empowerment of blacks
turned out to be a poor combination

The Curriculum For Excellence And Education
The Curriculum for Excellence, introduced in 2014, aims to transform education in
Scotland for ages 3 18. It intends to progress the standards of education and learning
in the country by moving away from more traditional methods of teaching. This
strategy, developed by the Scottish Government, recognises that learningis a lifelong
process, beginning at birth, and therefore it is important to employ methods which
prepare children from a young age for a life of work. In order to do so, the
curriculum is based on seven key principles which are designed to provide young
people with the knowledge and skills for life in the 21st century. This knowledge and
skill is learnt through experiences and opportunities which are carefully planned for
each age group, encouraging space for learning out with the standard school subject
boundaries. The programme has four main outcomes prompting children to become
successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective
contributors. Once an individual has completed the education programme, reflections
of the curriculum s purpose can be assessed in the child or young person to see if
they have met the proposed outcomes and therefore determining the overall success.
One of the key principles of the curriculum is Health and Wellbeing. This area
focuses on the development and maintenance of young people s mental, emotional,
social and physical health. As well as promoting a healthy lifestyle, full of activity,

Higher Education Essay
Higher Education Education is one of the key ingredients to building a strong
foundation for a successful future; there is not enough emphasis put on education at a
young age. Another question arises though, how hard should we push our children?
They are children after all. On the other hand an absence of interaction between
student and teacher may cause our children to grow up to become mindless drones.
There needs to be a student teacher relationship, not a dictatorship. Students are not
just vessels to be filled with knowledge; they are alive, and must be allowed to grow
on their own. Without interaction and life experiences, the materials that are taught is

No one way is more correct than another. If life was an equation we could solve,
then we, as a race, would never survive, people would not be able to adapt, and we
would be unable to make further progress. It is not ones ability to recall what has
been taught it is there ability to teach it to others. It is those people who know how to
use the knowledge bestowed on them that will survive. In Dewey s Thinking in
Education he speaks a lot of knowledge; he states that knowledgeВ… [is]
indispensable(305). Dewey puts a large emphasis on how knowledge is gained
through experience and not through reading textbooks alone. Experience alone is
a slow teacher, though in order to gain knowledge one must have the proper
foundation. That foundation starts with a proper education. Studying the past,
learning from it, and being able to use it. Newton did not just sit under an apple
tree and get hit by an apple to discover gravity. He used what he learned from
proper schooling as a foundation. If he did not have proper schooling, Sir Isaac
Newton most likely would have just been irritated for having just been hit in the
head with an apple. Not that Dewey is wrong though, one must have real world
applications for what they have learned. If you are able to apply what you have
learned in a real life situation, then you are being taught properly. No amount of
improvement in the personal technique of the instructor will wholly remedy the state
of things (303). A teacher

But, over the years, the reverse has more often than not be the case in Nigeria.
Before and after independence, the state of Nigeria has always been riddled with the
problem of ethnicity, and the civil service as an institution that is suppose to be
transparent and impartial has been affected by this trend, so much so that the
citizenry are beginning to lose faith in the civil service institution due to poor and
ineffective service delivery. Given the above view, this paper intends to ascertain the
claim that, ethnicity has impacted negatively on civil service delivery in Nigeria. In
the circumstance effort will be made to answer the following questions:
(i)What gave rise to ethnicity in the civil service?
(ii)How has it affected the service?
(iii)What concrete measures have been take to solve the problem?
(iv)How could such problems be overcome?

The Great Famine
Introduction The Great Famine occurred in Ireland between 1845 and 1850 (Gray
2004). The famine was caused by infectious diseases to potato crops and to humans,
but also by structural issues in Ireland at the time of the occurrence (Gray 2004). The
demography of Ireland changed drastically during the span of less than a decade.
Prior to the famine, the Irish population was at 8.4 million in 1844 but as a result of
the famine, a decline of 2.2 million people left Irelandwith only a population of 6.6

and accompanying diseases killed approximately 1.1 million people and the other
half became emigrants (Gray 2004). The Irish were incredibly vulnerable to this...

reacted to the peak by implementing more costly head taxes on immigrants and
harsher rules of navigation laws, such as the Passengers to North America Act of
1848. The new laws caused a drastic drop of Irish immigrants, with the figure of
31,065 Irish emigrants in the same year (Collombier Lakeman 2015). Although
people of Canada were sympathetic to the Irish situation, the surge of Irish
immigrants posed an imbalance in Canadian population that would have affected the
infrastructure at the time. Thus, the government posed laws as a method of
regulation to maintain their
How Does Norman Bates Relate To Psychology
Alfred Hitchcock s original contemporary film Psycho shocks the conservative
audiences of the 1960s era by delving into the demented intricacies of Norman Bates
mind, and questioning the façade of normality that society expects of us. Sigmund
Freud s Psychoanalytical lens allows the audience to expound Bate s unhinged
character and to bring some meaning to the pure psychoticism of his actions.
Hitchcock s manic antagonist Norman Bates disturbing behaviour can be scrutinised
using Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytical perspective; thus perusing the motives
behind his horrifying matricide and subsequential murders. Bates childlike
disposition throughout the film, seen through his poor social skills, stutter and
obsessive candy chewing could be
Critical Discourse Analysis
2.1. Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA): 2.1.1. What is CDA? 2.1.1.1. Critical,
discourse and analysis Before beginning to address what CDA is, it is important to
be clear about what is meant by the concepts of critical, discourse, and analysis: The
notion of critical is primarily associated with the critical theory of the Frankfurt
School where social theory should be oriented towards critiquing and changing
society. In CDA, the concept of critical is applied to the engagement with power
relations. In this sense the role of CDA is to uncloak the hidden power relations,
largely constructed through language, and to demonstrate and challenge social
inequities reinforced and reproduced.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.1.3. The functions and aims of CDA: Van Dijk (1993) argued that CDA deal
primarily with the discourse dimensions of power abuse and the injustice and
inequality that result from it . He (1993) added that CDA criticize the power elites
that enact, sustain, legitimate, condone or ignore social inequality and injustice and
that CDA focuses on real problems, that is the serious problems that
Cognitive Development In Children
Motor development is essential to children development. The large motor skills are
the gross motor skills that allows the child to use their large muscles such as
throwing, running, and climbing. The gross motor skills allow children to combine
skills that will allow the child to coordinate their movement. Fine motor skillare the
small movements that children learn. These skills consist of picking up things such
as a penny using the thumb and index finger which is known as the pincer grasp.
Motor skillshelps a child with physical activity. Cognitive development in children is
important for children because it helps the child learn about the world and how it
works. Kindergarten children learn based on watching, imitating, listening and asking
Essay On A Confederate Divided
A Confederate Divided The American Civil War has become a point of controversy
and argument when discussing key events in shaping America. The arguments that
arise when discussing the war tend to focus on whether the Confederate was
constitutionally justified in seceding, or whether the North had the right to prevent
the secession. However, when discussing the America Civil War and the idea of
separation, it is important to be mindful that separation did not simply end at the
state level. Letters written by Jesse Rolston, Jr. and Jedediah Hotchkiss portray two
significantly different attitudes toward the war, despite the fact that the writers both
fought for the Confederate States and give accounts of the same battle, one of which
ended in the Confederate s favor. When examining the documents, both writers
express different viewpoints on life on and off the battlefield. This significant
difference represents a division amongst the Confederate army. The letter from Jesse
Rolston immediately establishes himself as a very humble soldier. He is presumably
an infantryman, as he gives personal accounts of his part in the battle. Rolston s
intention when writing this letter is mainly an attempt to reassure his family that he
is still alive and wishes to return home. He states how much [more] satisfied [he]
would be [if he were home], where [he] could be with [his wife] and the children and
hear them prattle . Jedediah Hotchkiss letter portrays a man of higher military

A discussion on the Rwandan Genocide and Kenyan Post Election Violence
Presented by: K. Ntinyari Mbogori 15 1658
Presented to: Reverend Steven Nduto
Date: 29|09|17
1.What was the main reason that triggered the Rwandan Genocide on April 7, 1994?
The country of Rwanda comprises an old kingdom that spanned several hundreds of
years, established, ruled and ran by a people who spoke the language Kinyarwanda.
Within its years, these people split into two groups namely the Hutu and the Tutsi. It
is unclear why, but it is speculated that it may have been because of the different
occupations they took; the Hutu being farmers and the Tutsi raising cattle. The Tutsi,

What possible benefits did the Kenyans got from the 2007/2008 PEV?
Post election violence occurred following similar ethnic frustrations to the Rwandan
Genocide. Once again, the perceived marginalization of one community
economically, politically and socially led to an uprising that devastated the country.
Prior to this, Kenya had been considered the most stable and the most successful
democracies in East Africa following the landslide victory that overthrew Daniel Arap
Moi.
Following the announcement of the election victor on December 27th 2008 and the
subsequent clandestine swearing in ceremony of the announced winner Mwai
Kibaki, violence erupted around the country with tribes of the western part of
Kenya namely the Luo and Kalenjin rising up against the Kikuyu and the latter s
retaliation. The violence spread and lasted until February the next year after which
followed the peace, power sharing and mediation talks conducted by Kofi Anan the
former UN Secretary General. By this time, an estimated 1500 Kenyans had been
killed and thousands others displaced, doomed to live several years in Internally

The Minimum Drinking Age
For many adults, alcohol is considered a luxury, but it might be better for young
adults and teens to hold off on this forbidden fruit until they of proper age. The
minimum drinking age has been a topic of controversy in Ontario for a while,
changing from 21, to 18, and now 19. While the consumption of alcohol in
regulated small amounts is okay, many younger adults and teens lack the necessary
self control, and indulge in binge drinking. This type of behaviour can often have a
negative effect on their bodies. There are also major concerns regarding road safety,
as car accidents involving an alcohol impaired driver are more frequent in those of
younger age in comparison to their older counterparts. The current minimum legal
drinking ageis too low, as there have been more cases of underage drinking, and
abuse of other substances. All of these issues could be avoided if the legal age for
consumption of alcohol in Ontario was raised back to the age of 21. Younger adults
and teens should abstain from alcohol in order to protect the development of their
bodies. A study done by The Royal Australasian College of Physicians states
Adolescents and young adults are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of
alcohol. Alcohol affects the development of the brain, which continues to form and
mature throughout adolescence ( Should the drinking age be lowered from 21 to a
younger age? ). Alcohol can cause irreversible damage to two parts of the brain; the
hippocampus and the
Essay about The History of the Navajo Indians
The Navajo Indians used to live in northwestern Canada and Alaska. 1,000 years
ago the Navajo Indians traveled south, because there was more qualities they had
seeked there. When the Navajo Indians traveled south there was a lot of oil in the
1940 s. Today the Navajo Indians are located in the Four Corners. The marriage
practices for the Navajo Indians are very unique. The bride must be bought with
horses, sheep, or other valuable items. What many Navajo Indians used to use in
the 40 s were love potions. These love potions include many plants and herbs in
them, and were used to make someone fall in love with someone else. In many
traditions for Navajo weddings they used a lot of plants and herbs. After the wedding
ceremony they would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other foods such as, wild grapes, jack rabbits, wood rats, yucca fruit, wild potatoes,
juniper, berries and mountain sheep were eaten all the time. The houses Navajo
Indians used to live in were called Hogan s. A Hogan was made of logs, brush, and
earth. The Navajo summer houses were also utilized and made of brush with a
windbreak. The Navajo Indians are separated within two clans to live together. The
two clans were immediate family and extended family. In warm climates men were
mostly naked, but the women wore simple knee length skirts and blouses. In the
colder climates they would wear warm trousers and hooded anoraks. They would
mostly wear animal skin from the animals they hunted or raised. The Navajo
Indians would also wear paintings on their body, or permanent makings of a tattoo.
The art on ones body would signify a persons age, social or material status, or for
men, their level of skill as a warrior. The Navajo Indians would also wear many
jewelry pieces. The Navajo Indians did not use silver jewelry until around 1870.
The increase of silver jewelry among the Navajo s at the time reflected the
adaptation of these peoples to life as herds and silversmiths on the newly established
reservations. The Navajo Indians had to make their own weapons, such as the bow
and arrow. The bow and arrow was one of the main weapons to use to kill animals.
The Navajo Indians used other weapons like prayer sticks, claw dance stick, war
shields, tomahawked,

Innovation, Design, Creativity, and the United States Postal Service
OI 361 Innovation, Design, and Creativity
July 9, 2012
Benefits and Drivers Just as in nature, in business it is survival of the fittest. The key
to success and longevity for businesses in the modern world is to be innovative and
creative. To be innovative, it is imperative that a company develop a culture that
encourages new ideas, welcomes the latest technology, and implements pioneering
processes. For the United States Postal Service (USPS), an independent government
agency responsible for providing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunate for the future of the agency; however, the United States Postal
Service s policies, procedures, and postal rates are governed by the Board of
Governors of the United States Postal Service. The board consists of nine
members who are appointed by the President. Despite that the United States Postal
Service is legally defined as an independent establishment of the executive branch
of the Government of the United States, it is still a business. As a business it is
difficult to make changes when its high executive leaders are government officials
that are content. Economic uncertainty, an external factor that influences innovation
is perhaps the most important and impactful. Money funds innovate ideas and at
moment, there seems so be very little left in the United States Postal Service s
budget to support new designs and processes. The United States Postal Service has
seen a decline in use since the introduction of e mails. According to statistics
presented by the Radicati Group, in 2010 an average of 294 billion e mails was
sent each day. The market is no longer what it used to be. However, the United States
Postal Service can use technology to its advantage. Technology is an external driver
of innovation. In its early history, the United States Postal Service has used
technology to its advantage. In recent years; however, it had fallen behind in

A Family Walks Through The Pathway Of A Backyard
Beautifully ripened tomatoes seen as a family walks through the pathway in a
backyard. Alongside those tomatoes stand some juicy orange habanero chilies and
diverse all year round fruits and veggies. In a patch, children along with their
proud parents, planting pumpkin seeds for the fall season in the garden. Starting a
garden benefits families who want to experience a rewarding and enjoyable
hobby. Growing a garden reduces the amount of money for groceries, families
spend at the store. Therefore, families who garden at home do not need to spend
money on gas, and instead, pick the food out from their own garden. Because
families will have money left over, they can use it on other expenses. Other types
of food may be harder to keep fresh but the natural garden foods will be savory on
their own. In this case, families who get what they need from the garden will enjoy
the food as well. Moreover, growing a garden is straightforward so, families can
cooperate and involve the whole family in the simple recreational activity. Not only
will there be time for bonding, but also be a great way to stay active and includes
great health benefits. Endurance, flexibility, and strength are the three different types
of exercises associated with gardening. Gardening benefits the whole family and it is
something that will be enjoyable to do. Gardening benefits people s psychological
health; it increases the overall mental health by allowing people to figure out how to
deal with unfortunate

this title. I also wanted to make sure the person I interviewed was a woman, just so
I could connect with them on another level, and to get a better picture on how she
was treated in this industry. I called Aimclear and asked to speak to Megan, she was
out of the office so I left her a detailed voicemail explaining: who I was, what I
wanted, and why she should care. She called me back explaining she was actually in

  • 1. Personal Philosophy Essay Examples Crafting an essay on the subject of "Personal Philosophy Essay Examples" presents a unique set of challenges. Firstly, delving into one's personal philosophy requires a deep introspection and thoughtful examination of one's beliefs, values, and principles. This self-reflection process can be both time-consuming and emotionally demanding. Furthermore, finding suitable examples to illustrate and support your personal philosophy adds another layer of complexity. It requires a careful selection of experiences, anecdotes, or real-life situations that effectively convey the essence of your philosophical standpoint. The challenge lies in striking a balance between personal depth and universal relevance to engage the reader effectively. Articulating these thoughts coherently is another hurdle. Translating abstract concepts into clear and persuasive language demands a precise and eloquent expression of ideas. Ensuring that the essay flows seamlessly and maintains the reader's interest throughout is a skill that may take time to master. Additionally, addressing potential counterarguments and presenting a well-rounded perspective contributes to the overall difficulty. It involves anticipating possible objections to your philosophy and skillfully addressing them, showcasing a nuanced understanding of opposing viewpoints. In essence, writing a compelling essay on personal philosophy requires a delicate interplay of self-exploration, persuasive writing, and the ability to connect with readers on a personal and intellectual level. • 2. Conservatism Ideology i)Conservatism as an Ideology Conservatism is an ideology that strongly values tradition and continues to utilise the policies put in place by our ancestors before us. Because tradition is fundamental to conservatives they are very susceptible to change their policies: change will only be supported if it does no harm and if this can be clearly demonstrated (Young, 2015). Conservatism itself is a pragmatic ideology with no real goals or purpose other than to preserve the traditions put in by the generations previous to us. Conservatives look backwards, not forwards (Alexander, 2014) Conservatives believe that we have a debt to those who are dead as well as those who are alive (Alexander, 2014) meaning that humans owe so much to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if a socialist is conscious of history and wants to understand it, he does not suppose that we owe a debt to the traditions found in history What is meant by this quote is that we can reflect on our past, but not dedicate our lives to recreating history in order to pay our ancestors back for all they have done for us: the conservative... does suppose we owe such a debt (Alexander, 2014). Human nature from both socialism and conservatism can relate to the quote. Socialism reflects back on previous points in time so they can interpret and understand the way of thinking by political thinkers and policy makers at the time, but doesn t feel they need to incorporate the traditions of political movements to create social continuity. Conservatives look back on political movements and points of time in history and examines the political processes involved in certain situations. As a sign of respect to their ancestors and a way to pay back the debt to them; they introduce and incorporate the traditions and political ideas into modern day society as they believe it is what is necessary to pay them

One reason I have chosen this job, in particular, is due to my love for quotes and sharing them; especially on social media. Another reason is to inspire, motivate, and to make the class smile. A favorite quote of mine, I yearn to share states, If you re not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you re determined to learn, no one can stop you. In other words, It s saying that If you don t have the willingness to learn no one can help you, but yourself because the willingness to learn is a choice and if you have the dedication, determination to do it then nothing and no one can stop you from learning. • 6. Driving Into Downtown Tucson Driving into downtown Tucson there is always traffic. Cars are either finding parking spots or just passing through to head to where they have to go. There are small stores that are smashed in between tall buildings. Some of them are empty. When you talk to your parents they talk about the time when downtown was full of life, almost the opposite now. Although it may have old buildings that were the highlight of our parent s younger days, it is not the historic place you think about. Before there was the TCC or the downtown district, Tucson was enriched with the lives of the Mexican people who lived here. They had their homes built next to each other and the plaza to shop at and visit. This was also where Black Americans and Asian Americans held their businesses either at their homes or in buildings. Another way the downtown area of Tucson shows its Mexican side is the annual Dia de los Muertos parade. This parade is held around Halloween time where families and fellow Tucsonans gather together and march with music and face paintings to honor the dead. This is a Mexican tradition that came from Mexico and is celebrated very proudly every year. In my opinion, if you were to use downtown to describe the people, you would never describe us right. This town and its people are heavily Mexican. Look around, we are everywhere. But there is just a small showcase of that. The street names may still have Calle in front of them, they may even be in Spanish but that is not

For a thousand years before, Rome had ruled most of Europe, bringing new developments in technology, education and government, but after Rome fell to invaders in 542 CE, Western Europe became stagnant, a period we now term as the Middle Ages. Ordinary people did not venture far from their hamlets. Local lords ruled with fear and intimidation. His previous interest and work in mathematics and geometry obviously helped in his study of perspective and his contemplative approach to his paintings is apparent in all his works. Caterina van Hemessen (1528 until after1587) was a Flemish painter. As with many Renaissance female painters, she was the daughter of a painter, Jan Sanders van Hemesson (c. 1500 after 1563), and he was probably her teacher. She is the earliest female Flemish painter for whom there are verifiable works still existing. In the late Renaissance the training of artists began to move from the workshops and to the Academy and women began a long struggle to be able to access this training. To study the human form required working from male nudes and corpses, and women were generally thought to be too sensitive and were barred from this type of training. Her success is marked by her good standing in the Guild of Saint Luke, and her eventual position as teacher to three male students. Her patron in the 1540 s was Maria, Queen of Hungary. In 1554, she married Christian (or ChrГ©tien) de Morien, an organist at the cathedral in Antwerp, which was at that time an important position. In 1556, when the Queen of Hungary resigned her position Caterina and her husband also moved to Spain, on invitation of her patron, to Spain. Two years later, when Maria died, Caterina was given a sizeable pension for life. She

The separation of powers is defined as the political doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are divided to prevent an abuse of power. These three branches are the Legislative, Executive and Judicial and are assigned special powers to maintain a check and balance on each other. In this essay, we shall further go on to discuss the roles and functions of each of the mentioned branches of government and the extent to which this defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United Kingdom s system of government taking into account the traditional structure that has been maintained over the years. Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative, which discusses everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the judicial element. These three elements as defined by Aristotle are now known as our Legislative, Executive and Judicial arms of the United Kingdom s system of government. Montesquieu believes, everything would come to an end

This poem could either be taken in a happy tone or a dark tone. The main theme Hall is trying to express is that once a person has a child, their lives are changed forever. In the first line, My son, my executioner, is saying that once a child comes into the world, in a sense the parent s life is taken away. Yet as morbid as that sounds, the parent s life is made eternal through their child forever. The father knows his time is now focused on his son. There is a reversal of roles, as the child gets bigger and stronger, the father gets weaker and will die. Sweet death, small son, our instrument/of immortality. Another problem was that the parents had their child young. That day the child was born, their lives were changed and it will never be the same again. We twenty five and twenty two. In conclusion, Donald Hall portrays a father who has grown old, holding their young child in their arms. . The way Hall used imagery, showed the reader a fatherly figure that gives up everything to care for his son. The tone of the poem was important because it let the reader know that the poem could be seen as happy or dark. The theme showed the readers that once they have a child, their lives are changed forever. This poem was published in 1891 in the 2nd collection of Dickinson s work, Poems by Emily Dickinson, second series ( Hope Encyclopedia). My opinion of Hope is the Thing with Feathers would have to be that she was very clear with her message. Not only do I feel that I can relate to it, I feel as if many other people can relate to it. That poems main point is about hope and how you should believe in it whenever things are not looking up for you, and I think that is very true. Many times people get discouraged and think that there is nothing left but there is, and it is hope. I highly agree with Dickinson in her poem Hope is the Thing with Feathers . An example that shows the extent to which politically the American Revolution can be called an accelerated evolution rather than a cataclysmic revolution are the battles of Lexington and Concord. The increased want for independence led the colonists to create a continental army and begin their fight for change. In 1775, Massachusetts was proclaimed to be in an open rebellion and British General Thomas Gage was ordered to put a stop to it. On April 18, 1775 General Gage dispatched 700 soldiers to capture colonial leaders and supplies at Concord. Fortunately, Paul Revere and other riders were able to warn the patriots of the attack and at dawn militiamen confronted the British troops first at Lexington and then Concord. After these battles 73 British soldiers were dead, 174 wounded and 26 were missing. Americans suffered too with 49 Massachusetts militiamen killed and 39 wounded. The battles at Lexington and Concord show a more radical way that the colonists chose to achieve independence from Britain. The purpose of this experiment is to determine what solvent works the best at separating the different pigments of the paprika extract. The solvents used to develop the plate are hexane and methyl tert butyl ether (MTBE), as well as three mixtures of the two solutions (5% MTBE in hexane, 10% MTBE in hexane, and 30% MTBE in hexane). It intends to progress the standards of education and learning in the country by moving away from more traditional methods of teaching. This strategy, developed by the Scottish Government, recognises that learningis a lifelong process, beginning at birth, and therefore it is important to employ methods which prepare children from a young age for a life of work. In order to do so, the curriculum is based on seven key principles which are designed to provide young people with the knowledge and skills for life in the 21st century. This knowledge and skill is learnt through experiences and opportunities which are carefully planned for each age group, encouraging space for learning out with the standard school subject boundaries. The programme has four main outcomes prompting children to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors. Higher Education Essay Higher Education Education is one of the key ingredients to building a strong foundation for a successful future; there is not enough emphasis put on education at a young age. Another question arises though, how hard should we push our children? They are children after all. On the other hand an absence of interaction between student and teacher may cause our children to grow up to become mindless drones. There needs to be a student teacher relationship, not a dictatorship. Students are not just vessels to be filled with knowledge; they are alive, and must be allowed to grow on their own. Without interaction and life experiences, the materials that are taught is stored, but not understood. We would do without thinking, feeling, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No one way is more correct than another. If life was an equation we could solve, then we, as a race, would never survive, people would not be able to adapt, and we would be unable to make further progress. It is not ones ability to recall what has been taught it is there ability to teach it to others. It is those people who know how to use the knowledge bestowed on them that will survive. In Dewey s Thinking in Education he speaks a lot of knowledge; he states that knowledgeВ… [is] indispensable(305). Dewey puts a large emphasis on how knowledge is gained through experience and not through reading textbooks alone. Experience alone is a slow teacher, though in order to gain knowledge one must have the proper foundation. That foundation starts with a proper education. Studying the past, learning from it, and being able to use it. Newton did not just sit under an apple tree and get hit by an apple to discover gravity. He used what he learned from proper schooling as a foundation. If he did not have proper schooling, Sir Isaac Newton most likely would have just been irritated for having just been hit in the head with an apple. Not that Dewey is wrong though, one must have real world applications for what they have learned. If you are able to apply what you have learned in a real life situation, then you are being taught properly. No amount of improvement in the personal technique of the instructor will wholly remedy the state of things (303). A teacher

The famine was caused by infectious diseases to potato crops and to humans, but also by structural issues in Ireland at the time of the occurrence (Gray 2004). The demography of Ireland changed drastically during the span of less than a decade. Prior to the famine, the Irish population was at 8.4 million in 1844 but as a result of the famine, a decline of 2.2 million people left Irelandwith only a population of 6.6 million people in 1951 (Mokyr 2016). The following year, over 110,000 Irish people left from either their country or from Britain to reach Canada, causing a peak in immigration rates referred to as Black 47 (Collombier Lakeman 2015). Canada reacted to the peak by implementing more costly head taxes on immigrants and harsher rules of navigation laws, such as the Passengers to North America Act of 1848. The new laws caused a drastic drop of Irish immigrants, with the figure of 31,065 Irish emigrants in the same year (Collombier Lakeman 2015). Although people of Canada were sympathetic to the Irish situation, the surge of Irish immigrants posed an imbalance in Canadian population that would have affected the infrastructure at the time. • 43. Essay On A Confederate Divided A Confederate Divided The American Civil War has become a point of controversy and argument when discussing key events in shaping America. The arguments that arise when discussing the war tend to focus on whether the Confederate was constitutionally justified in seceding, or whether the North had the right to prevent the secession. However, when discussing the America Civil War and the idea of separation, it is important to be mindful that separation did not simply end at the state level. Letters written by Jesse Rolston, Jr. and Jedediah Hotchkiss portray two significantly different attitudes toward the war, despite the fact that the writers both fought for the Confederate States and give accounts of the same battle, one of which ended in the Confederate s favor. When examining the documents, both writers express different viewpoints on life on and off the battlefield. This significant difference represents a division amongst the Confederate army. The letter from Jesse Rolston immediately establishes himself as a very humble soldier. He is presumably an infantryman, as he gives personal accounts of his part in the battle. Rolston s intention when writing this letter is mainly an attempt to reassure his family that he is still alive and wishes to return home. He states how much [more] satisfied [he] would be [if he were home], where [he] could be with [his wife] and the children and hear them prattle . Jedediah Hotchkiss letter portrays a man of higher military

Prior to this, Kenya had been considered the most stable and the most successful democracies in East Africa following the landslide victory that overthrew Daniel Arap Moi. Following the announcement of the election victor on December 27th 2008 and the subsequent clandestine swearing in ceremony of the announced winner Mwai Kibaki, violence erupted around the country with tribes of the western part of Kenya namely the Luo and Kalenjin rising up against the Kikuyu and the latter s retaliation. • 45. The Minimum Drinking Age For many adults, alcohol is considered a luxury, but it might be better for young adults and teens to hold off on this forbidden fruit until they of proper age. The minimum drinking age has been a topic of controversy in Ontario for a while, changing from 21, to 18, and now 19. While the consumption of alcohol in regulated small amounts is okay, many younger adults and teens lack the necessary self control, and indulge in binge drinking. This type of behaviour can often have a negative effect on their bodies. There are also major concerns regarding road safety, as car accidents involving an alcohol impaired driver are more frequent in those of younger age in comparison to their older counterparts. The current minimum legal drinking ageis too low, as there have been more cases of underage drinking, and abuse of other substances. All of these issues could be avoided if the legal age for consumption of alcohol in Ontario was raised back to the age of 21. Younger adults and teens should abstain from alcohol in order to protect the development of their bodies. A study done by The Royal Australasian College of Physicians states Adolescents and young adults are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of alcohol. Alcohol affects the development of the brain, which continues to form and mature throughout adolescence ( Should the drinking age be lowered from 21 to a younger age? ). Alcohol can cause irreversible damage to two parts of the brain; the hippocampus and the
