Elizabeth Barrett Browning And F. Scott Fitzgerald s The...
The universal values portrayed through the texts Sonnets from the Portuguese (1845) by Elizabeth Barrett
Browning and F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby (1926) highlight the similar and different
intertextual perspectives and values relevant to the Victorian Era and 1920 s Jazz Age. Both composers offer
compelling critiques of their society dedicating thematic concerns of the restorative power of hope and
courtly idealised love. Through numerous literal techniques, substantial diversity arises through the historical
context, composer s personal experiences, and human values.
The restorative power of hope is a significant universal value in the setting of the Victorian era focusing on
female empowerment. Browning cultivates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Periodontal Assessment
Some clinical findings I would expect to see at the re evaluation appointment include a halt in the
progression of periodontal disease. At the re evaluation appointment, we would hopefully see healing and a
decrease in probing depth measurements. A new periodontal assessment is needed for a re evaluation
appointment which is a major component of the re evaluation appointment because you need to compare the
new data with the baseline data. The periodontal assessment includes probing depths, bleeding on probing,
attachment level, tooth mobility, furcation involvement, mucogingival involvement, and levels of plaque
biofilm and calculus. At the re evaluation appointment we should see better probing depths but if we don t,
that means the disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sequence of care for a periodontal maintenance appointment would start with updating the medical status
because we always want to know what medications, allergies, or medical problems the patient might have to
provide the best standard of care. The next step would be the patient interview which would include any
social status issues, review of dental care, and clarification of the patient s perceptions of their own oral
status. Next would be the clinical assessment which would include comparing new data to baseline data,
extraoral and intraoral examination, dental examination, radiographs, and periodontal examination. For this
case study patient, I would recommend that 4 vertical bitewings are taken at the periodontal maintenance
appointment and a full mouth series be taken every 3 5 years. The next step in the appointment should be an
evaluation of the effectiveness of self care which would be done by calculating the patient s plaque score.
During this step of the appointment, I would tell the patient where they brush well and where they can
improve brushing. Identification of treatment needs is the next step in the appointment when the clinician
would indicate the needs the patient would have patient such as restorations and reinstitution of active
periodontal therapy. The patient may need professional biofilm removal. For periodontal instrumentation, I
would use the Cavitron to

The New York City Council
A bill is a proposed legislation that is brought to a legislative body. In the case of the New York City Council,
the bill is introduced into the Council at a Stated Meeting and becomes a law after an intricate voting or
vetoing process with the Council and the Mayor of New York City ( Legislative Process ). In the last year,
many bills were passed by the New York City Council. While browsing through the list of bills passed in the
last year, a bill in particular stood out to me Reducing city government emission of greenhouse gases by 40
percent by 2030, as it is a bill that proposes a way to tackle climate change. The bill was dated to be on the
agenda for October 15, 2015, and its co sponsors are Donovan J. Richards, Costa G. Constantinides,
Margaret S. Chin, Mathieu Eugene, Vincent J. Gentile, Corey D. Johnson, Peter A. Koo, Rosie Mendez,
Annabel Palma, Deborah L. Rose, Andrew Cohen, and Ydanis A. Rodriguez. It proposes for the city
government to have at least a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 ( The New York City
Council ).
Four months prior to the bill coming to the agenda of the New York City Council, Mayor Bill de Blasio
pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions in New York City. He presented new targets for greenhouse gas
emissions for New York City and urged other cities to follow suit. Though he did not directly mention the
proposal of the bill to the City Council, he announced at the Vatican that the Big Apple was taking an interim

The War On The Front Lines
The refusal to obey orders, or a violent attempt to take control from people of authority. 1 The Great War was
a rugged time for many throughout its duration from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. The speculations
and thoughts of the general public and the soldiers in battle behind the ongoing war changed drastically over
the four years. The moral and willpower of the soldiers declined heavily, and this had a large impact on how
the war was fought. Many soldiers captured their accounts of these changes in journals as diaries and there is
one French soldier s diary that accurately depicts mutiny on the front lines. There is a clear correlation
between the changes in the amount of recruits and supplies available, the manner in which the war was
fought, and the general feelings behind the war as time went on, which caused some soldiers to choose
mutiny. At the beginning of the war, the duties behind what the soldiers had to do were largely appreciated
and they were held above others as heroes. People of warring countries were rushing to battle and their loved
ones were supporting them all of the way. Battalions were even formed from work groups, as they already
withheld an established chain of command, the members had a close knit bond, and there was a charismatic
feeling about representing the country they worked in. The glorified fighting and risking of one s life was
soon changed.
The way the war was fought also fiercely changed. The battle techniques early on in 1914

Reflection On Aa Meeting
Prior to the meeting I was angry because multiple locations failed to provide the meeting in which I needed
to attend. I could not stay upset for a long time because if I would have given up, I would not have been able
to meet with this group. This meeting place was somewhere I had visited before in order to support a friend.
Since I had previously attended the meeting at this location I expected to see some of the same individuals
from the previous visit. I also expected to experience a different set up for the meeting, but I did not. The step
of the meeting was the same as the previous visit, but due to my anger I did not pay attention to the group s
set up. In the beginning of the meeting, the hostesses both greeted themselves and welcomed everyone to the
meeting. They asked if there were any announcements that were needed to be made, and about two persons
discussed an AA event that was approaching. It was similar to a retreat that individuals could attend with
their sponsors. Another individual shared with the group about different have canceled their AA meetings for
the week due to Easter celebrations. That is most likely why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Common Core Principles Of Person Centred Care
This presentation is going to talk about person centred care, confidentiality, respecting privacy and dignity

Mother In Refugee Camp Poem Analysis
Remember by Christina Rossetti, Mother in Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe and War Photographer by
Carol Ann Duffy all explore different perspectives of death and its inevitability. In the poem Mother in
Refugee Camp, Chinua Achebe exposes the reader to the realistic and horrific conditions of a refugee camp,
culminating in the lamentable death of the child. The language, the use of metaphors and similes and
structure call attention to the idea of cyclical death in a refugee camp. The poem War Photographer explores
the continual cycle of death in war zones. Duffy examines the predicament the war photographer faces
whether to intervene in the ongoing conflict or to uncover the reality and destruction of conflict. However,

The New Constitution And The Constitution
The new constitution formulated comprised of seven articles that explain how a government should work in
order to provide its citizens with the basic rights. This new system divided the power between the federal
government and the states. Furthermore, the American Revolution is extremely important as the constitution
that was later formulated still serves the basis of the American constitution. Even though several amendments
have been made to the constitution, the revolutionary principles upon which the Constitution was made are
still influencing the society of the United States. The language and the sentiments involved in the Declaration
of Independence delineate complete devotion to human equality which still serves as the basis of our ... Show

During the revolution, several African American slaves served in the revolutionary war from both sides of the
war. Moreover, this revolutionary war of independence helped the slaves in getting their independence as
well. This is when several thousands of the slaves attained the status of independence by running away. As a
result of the revolution, the slaves started to fight against the slavery after getting the encouragement from
the natural right philosophy of the seventeenth century English philosopher John Locke (Digital History),
which is also a part of the constitution of the United States of America. This natural right philosophy is
nothing else but the right to life and liberty that the constitution of the United States guarantees to provide its
citizens. In addition to this fight of the African American against the slavery, the slaves began to appeal the
Congress in order to destruct the slavery. Furthermore, under the new constitution, the slaves were
considered as 3/5 as productive as a free person (Cardoza and Hume 116). Thus, after the revolution, the
slaves were also given representation while earlier the slaves were not considered to have any kind of rights
since they were not considered the citizens. Moreover, it was this revolutionary war, after which the
abolitionist movements initiated to abolish the slavery and thus, the awareness about slavery increased. Also,

Social Class Reflection Paper
Before this class I always viewed sport as a sanctuary for everyone regardless of their race, social class, and
gender as something they can do together. That once everyone was on the field or at the game, we were all
the same. I believed that it was an activity that did not have a political influence and it was purely for
entertainment. While I still believe some of that is true, this class has challenged my view point by forcing
me to view sports through a different lens. As students, we tend to look at everyday activities through our
personal experiences and assume that everyone else around us is experiencing them the same way. We tend to
overlook the truth because we are uncomfortable admitting that things such as discrimination, and sexism
still happen in today s world.
More specifically, I was challenged to look at my life experiences in three different categories. These
categories include the effect of neoliberalism on today s society, my social class, and my race. Through these
three categories, I was able to pull out the differences between my own life and the lives of others. By
viewing the same experience through another person s eyes, I noticed the extreme differences that they are
going through because of the influence from society.
In the following paper, I will mention how the effect of neoliberalism has influenced the way myself and
others view and experience a sporting experience, how my social class standing has structured what sports I
had access to and

Statutory Background Of Facta Litigation Essay
Before addressing the specific claims of this Comment, it is necessary to examine the statutory background
of FACTA litigation, the realities of class action § 1681c(g) litigation, the case law establishing what
constitutes willfulness, and the standards for a 12(b)(6) motion to dismiss. Sections I.A and I.B will examine
FACTA and its underlying policies, as well as the reasons for the temporary safe harbor Congress later
created for violations of the expiration date requirement. Next, Section I.C will explore the realities of §
1681c(g) litigation, particularly the massive liability that defendants face from the aggregation of statutory
damages via class action suits. Third, because the recovery of statutory damages depends on showing that a
defendant willfully violated FACTA, Section I.D will explore Safeco, the Supreme Court decision
establishing the meaning of willfulness in FACTA cases. Finally, Section I.E will examine the new pleading
standards established in Twombly and Iqbal in order to better inform the later discussion of pre and post Iqbal
1681c(g) case law.
A. The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act
Congress passed FACTA on December 4, 2003, amending the Fair Credit Reporting Act (the FCRA ).
FACTA was intended to address identity theft by, among other provisions, requiring lenders to identify and

Why Is Beowulf Epic Or Awesome
Beowulf is an epic poem, but you already know that. But by modern terms, I would definitely classify this
poem as epic or awesome . I don t quite understand why, but I really enjoyed this poem. It was very easy to
read. I was able to comprehend all of the text without any trouble. From the beginning of the story, you know
that the heroic character is going to have some divine motivations. Beowulf will become the idol of Geats, he
will gain much glory and respect and a little bit of fame. Clearly, these were his motivations for all of his
courageous acts and he certainly fulfilled his expectations.
When Beowulf agrees to battle Grendel, he is purely accepting the challenge because he feels it is his moral
obligation. He knows it is his duty to defend and protect the citizens of Geats. Obviously, no one honestly
wants to fight a massive lizard man, who can crush thirty men at once, but hey, let s let Beowulf give it a
shot. Surprisingly, Beowulf tells the King that he wants to fight the monster with his bare hands; grappling,
would be a better way to describe his intentions. I am still not completely sure why Beowulf chose to deny
any and all kinds of weapons, but his insane game plan ends up working, so I guess that s all that truly
matters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Oddly enough, Beowulf chose to wear armor and use weapons for this battle. Why would he do that? He had
already gained some glory for slaying the monster Grendel. Fortunately, Beowulf knows that women fight a
lot differently than men. Women know how to use our minds in battle. We can deceive you in front of your
very eyes, and you still wouldn t know what is going on. Girls fight dirty, and Beowulf is prepared. At this
point in his life, Beowulf is ready to achieve some fame. Because who doesn t want to profit from some
infamy? He is already seen as the great hero of Geats, so why not progress to the village s

The Causes Of Crime
Crime can never be eliminated in the world and it would be abnormal if it ever did happen in society.
Perhaps, a society without crime is a spiral of our own imagination. Crime can be related to intra class
struggles because it still makes an impact in America. In today s society crime is a norm for many cities in
America. According to Forbes, St. Louis is the most dangerous city in America in 2017. Why are there
increasing rates of crime over the last decade? What are the reasons for crime? The reasons of crime can stem
from poverty, unemployment, politics, drug abuse, and recurring individuals in and out of prison. In past
history, former Mayor Richard J. Daley was involved in a corruption scandal. There is a history of corruption
by officials in Chicago because they would use the political machine to gain political support to win in office.
This machine is produced by a boss or group that demands the support of other officials through scandalous
control. Daley allowed the poor to suffer and the richer get wealthier. The purpose is to gain control over a
particular area. In today s society, the machine is still seen today in Chicago s Police Department. Durkheim
argues that crime makes society functions as a whole. He states that crime is normal because it generates the
collective sentiment. Collective sentiments reinforce the values and ethical standards that society has brought
forth to follow. The rules that are broken are established

Immanuel Kant s Observations Of Enjoyment And Ralph Emerson
The readings of Immanuel Kant s Observations of Enjoyment and Ralph Emerson s pieces titled Art and
Circles displayed a kind of similarity between the two very different writers. Throughout my essay you will
see just how they are similar and what one would possible think of the others ideas. You see no ideas are
necessarily right or wrong ultimately like in life people do not always agree In Observations on the Feeling
of the Beautiful and Sublime section one by Immanuel Kant. Immanuel Kant begins with discussing the idea
that feeling happy or sad does not come from the nature of external things but more of what a person s ability
to let things make them feel pleasure of pain. He stresses that all people are different. Something that may
make someone feel upset can make another happy. Kant then continues to talk about the feeling of the
sublime and beautiful. He uses examples to display his opinions. First he begins to talk about the sight of
mountains along with raging storms in which beautiful things enjoyment can be seen as well as horror. On
the other hand we can look at grazing flocks and Homers portrayal of the girdle of Venus. Kant sees those
through as a pleasant sensation with joy and smiling. You can see that the difference is that certain beautiful
situations can be seen as horror. Kant says that sublime must always be great. It must be simple but the
beautiful can be adorned and ornamented. From the reading I can conclude that Kant strived to get his

Slum Problem In Slums
In India, the capital city of Delhi has a long history and has been an important political centre of India as well
as several empires. (Wikipedia, 2017, May) Delhi has a population of around 18 million and it is one of the
biggest metropolises city in the world, but Delhi faces a major crisis in the sector of health care as nearly half
of its people live in slums and unauthorised colonies without any proper disposing of their waste.
(Dhananjay, 2012, Oct 4] The purpose of this report is to find out why the slum issues remain even after
many years.
Slums in Delhi has been around since the late 70s and it has since continued to grow in the number of the
population living in slums. Slums comprise a social cluster that engenders a distinct set of health problems.
With estimated half of its population living in such communities, this neglected population has a wide
spectrum of health conditions. (Lee W Riley, Albert L Ko, Alon Unger and Mitermayer G Reis,2007, Mar 7)
Water and sanitation in slums are the major cause of the high death rates as diseases spread around and they
do not have good access to healthcare. The water that they fetch is not the water we drink instead it is not
clean and purified for drinking, it is contaminated with diseases that are the major cause for huge death rates,
especially in children.
The issue still exists and does not persist is because mainly of the huge corruption in India`s government.
Corruption in India can be traced back to the country`s

they are superior. This is something that people think is a lot less common than it actually is. It happens
everyday and can have lifelong effects. Even though our society says that it does not approve of those who
judge someone by their skin color, religion, culture, age, or gender, people often act out these prejudices with
violent behavior because they want to prove their own superiority.
People of various cultures have tried to prove superiority violently. A good example of this is in Night when
the nazis slapped Ellie s father, Then as walking from a deep sleep he slapped my father with such force that
he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours (Wiesel 39). This proves superiority ... Show

An excellent example of this is in To Kill A Mockingbird when Judge Taylor declares Tom Robinson guilty
Judge Taylor was polling the jury: Guilty...guilty...guilty...guilty... (Lee 282). This has a long lasting effect on
Atticus and the Finch family because they were the ones that was trying to defend Tom Robinson and not
succeeding to defend him hurt the whole town. Another example of this is in Night when Ellie gives a nobel
winning speech I belong to a traumatized generation, one that experienced the abandonment and solitude of
our people (Wiesel 119). This pretty much summarizes the entire speech and has long lasting effects because
he is trying to spread the word and clearly let others know that it is not ok to do something like this again. A
third great example of this is in Prom Night In Mississippi when the school votes to move away from black
and white proms ( Prom Night n.pag.). This had a long lasting effect on the school because it took them a
while to adjust to what every other school in the country does today. Violence can have often have long

The Career Of A Naval Nurse
The famous Helen Keller once said The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even
touched they must be felt with the heart. When a girl was younger before her grandfather passed away he
used to tell her all about the adventures he went on as a kid. He talked about how he and his brothers used to
get in trouble playing with toy guns and pretending they were soldiers. When he grew up into a handsome
young gentleman he went and joined the Navy. Every time she went to him he always told her a new
adventure he and the boys (the crew) would go on. He was her inspiration to want to join the navy, but her
hero is the real reason for her to want to be a nurse. The career of a Naval Nurse is a lifelong worth of ...

Introduction. The Bible Is One Of The Bestselling Books
INTRODUCTION
The Bible is one of the bestselling books in the world, for this reason it is incredibly important for Christians
and non Christians alike to examine the reliability of the text. Because the nature of this paper is rather short,
the historical evidence outlined will be brief and not all inclusive. This paper will examine the writings and
thoughts of many great people including Joshua McDowell, J. Walter Wallace and William Craig. For the
purpose of clarity when discussing the Bible or Scriptures this paper is referring to the Christian Bible which
totals of 66 Books. Additionally, the goal of this paper is not to prove the Bible is the Word of God, a
message from God, or inerrant, meaning without error, or even that it is a ... Show more content on

Old Testament scribes copied each manuscript meticulously, counting every letter and comparing it with the
original (McDowell 1992, 50 51). If there was even a single error the copy was discarded and they began
anew. Not only were these manuscripts incredibly accurate they also were numerous. The New Testament has
over 24,000 manuscripts with the earliest copy dating about twenty five years after the original (McDowell
1992, 52). In comparison, Homer s Iliad, one of the most historically accepted manuscripts, has only 642
manuscripts with a 500 year gap between the original and the first surviving copy. Since Homer s Iliad is
considered reliable it seems the New Testament should also be considered a reliable copy of the original.
SUPPORTING EVIDENCE #2
The reliability of the Bible as a historical document is the first form of evidence which points to the
reliability of the Bible as a whole. The most trustworthy records of history are eyewitness accounts, writings
of those who had a trustworthy source (such as an eyewitness), and archeological findings (Bowman 1965,
15). The Bible has all three of these evidences present. For instance, Exodus, Jeremiah, and Matthew are all
examples of accounts written by firsthand eye witnesses. Luke and Acts were written by Luke who was a
friend of many eyewitnesses. Furthermore, even eyewitnesses who were antagonistic towards Christians,
such as Josephus, affirmed the truth

Essay on Metropolis Film Analysis
Metropolis: Breaking down the utopia
In January of1927 Metropolis was released to the German public. The film, which was directed by Fritz
Lang, was one of the first science fiction movies in the history of film. The film focuses on the differences
between the working class who power the city and the wealthy whom indulge in it. The film was host to
many German stars at the time such as Alfred Abel and Brigette Helm. As this conflict is going there is a
separate yet relative story unfolding, a mad scientist has created an android out of love and desperation. Soon
that same desperation drives him to use this robotic woman agansist his fellow man, causing open revolt and
bloodshed. As Joh Frederson, founder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

interesting shot however, was a shot looking outside Joh Frederson s window, showing the majesty of the
city. It was a collaboration of scale models and paintings, which made up an entire futuristic city. It was
breathtaking, especially considering the time period. The story itself was beautifully written by Lang and his
wife. It was the first science fiction film ever made, no one had made a futuristic story about robots before,
but that s just what Metropolis was on the surface. Inside it was a story of love, a story of indifference, a
story of struggle, it was a human story, and that s what made it so successful. It was written simply, it was
easy to understand yet it told a complex multilayered story. The lighting only brought more emotion and
mood to the film. For all the close ups the faces were light very brightly, the natural shadows in the face in
contrast with the bright light stressed the state of the characters. The lighting in Rotwang s lab however was
very dark, and there were a lot of shadows, which exemplified the nature of his character. The main element
that made this film was the acting. It was necessary that all acting be overdramatic, it was the only way for
the audience to truly grasp the emotions of the characters on screen. The best example is the scene where
Freder wanders into the hall of machines and witness the

The Time Of Cholera By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay
Is Gabriel García Márquez s legendary novel, Love in the Time of Cholera, truly a love story ? Unfortunately,
García Márquez does not deal in the art of drug store romance novels, as the narrative of Love in the Time of
Cholera cannot be reduced to its themes, or moral schema. (Wilson 280) His novel does not feed us a
singular concept of true love in the same way such notions have been popularized in western media and
literature it is far more complex and multifarious than such, which is part of the reason Love in the Time of
Cholera maintains such high critical acclaim. It is not one, singular love story with black and white division
between true and illusionary romance, but a twist on such. Love in the Time of Cholera is rather a story of
many loves from Florentino and Fermina, to Fermina and Dr. Urbino, to Fermina and Hildebranda, to
Florentino and his lovers, and so on; all the loves in this novel are genuine, and are nothing besides love.
Of course, the author himself expresses that all the stories he has written are love stories , but in the case of
the dysfunctional romances in Love in the Time of Cholera, do the principles of conventional true love hold
true?
There is plenty of evidence that it does not. Florentino Ariza, as pointed out by Fermina Daza, is in love with
an illusion he is in love with the idea of love, rather than feeling genuine passion for Fermina as a person.
Marriage, which by conventional standards should be a testament to

What Is History Hope For The American Future
American History: Hope for The American Future People look at the future as an opportunity to adjust their
life, because of the things that happened to them in the past. We should not just as one or two people look at
the past, but we all should look back and study on these historical events. As Americans, we can use
historical data or a personal view. People make mistakes everyday, because we are human and sin is in our
nature. Sin is an evil and a corrupt element everyone has. Sin has shaped the United States in an UnGodly
manner. Adam and Eve are historical for not just America to look at but the whole world. God told Adam and
Eve that they had full reign over all of the Garden of Eden, but one tree. God told them to never eat from that
tree as it was the forbidden tree. In Genesis 3:3 God says, You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in
the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die. That does not have anything to do with
American history but is a very helpful event to study. American history has bountiful events we should look
at, I will be giving you some events of the U.S. to look upon. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Blood Doping Essay
Blood doping and EPO use by elite athletes is an unprofessional way of making their way to the top . Athlete
s bodies are affected by the use of these additional cells and can have a major outcome on how they perform
in the long run future. This is an illegal act by athletes and can majorly effect the body and its homeostasis.
says Savannah Rhind. The tiny gap between winning and losing has led athletes to look for what they call
marginal gains, whether that comes from extra sleep, better equipment, or even cheating (David Epstein,
2015). Blood doping is described as an injection containing oxygenated blood that is injected into an athlete
for the sake of sports competitions and enhancing athlete s performances. So how does it affect ... Show more

Homeostasis also improves how the body adapts to training for competitions. Athletes may lift weights with
the desire to get stronger, but that s not what motivates the athlete s body. Lifting weights damages muscles,
which causes homeostatic stress. Enough damage to that muscle will cause the body to react by imaginatively
saying I don t like this damage so I m going to form the muscle back bigger and stronger. That way, the next
time this stressor is thrown at me, I can homeostatically handle it. (Trevor Connor, 2014).
But, how does the body accomplish the perfect equilibrium? Well hormones play the part of this role. Sensors
in the body can detect any imbalanced pathway in the body and tells the brain to release the appropriate
hormones that is needed to restore a balanced pathway again. Once the stressor is gone, the hormones break
down. The basic feedback loop diagram below represents how our bodies are able to reach homeostasis after
a stressor occurs and what happens if they occur again, this cycle is important for our bodies to function

Topics in Labor Relations
Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name implies,
is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something. Specifically, it is
achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide important terms and conditions
regarding employment. These terms and conditions include compensation as well as rights and
responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can also include guidelines for resolving
problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13). According to our text book, Labor Relations:
Striking a Balance, increased focus on quality and greater competitiveness caused changes in business that

This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who championed it.
In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor
Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the
establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers representation questions and
settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It
identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority
support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other
conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire
employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the
NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release
describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non
union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s
main production line is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union
plant was because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future.

Media s Influence On The Public Perception Of The Media
Journalism is an industry that provides a source of information and news for the public, while popular culture
is a source of portrayal of the image of the journalist. Popular culture provides a glimpse and shapes the
people s impressions of the news media , whether it is portrayed in a positive or negative light. There is no
denying that popular culture possesses a large effect on what the public perceives and thinks about journalists
and the industry through how the characters, plotlines are presented. Sociologists have even argued that
popular culture s depictions...of real world professions have a major influence on the public s realistic
perception of that respective field. Thus, it is not a surprise that in the 1930s, journalist organizations
deliberately advocated positive portrayals of the press in Hollywood. An example of a film that stands as a
positive representation is The Front Page. Although the film presents reporters and editors lying and hurting
innocent people , the audience is able to fall for their unique charm and charisma they are brash, fast paced,
intelligent, composed, independent, passionate and investigative. They embody what America ultimately
champions: self reliance, drive for action and accomplishment. However, popular culture also perpetuates
negative, unlovable notions that journalists [are] hard drinking, foul mouthed social misfits concerned with
only twisting the truth . In novels like John Andross written by Rebecca Harding

Deoxygenated Blood Circulation
An understanding of the circulation of blood through the heart might help the reader to get an better
understanding of how the different parts of the heart relate. It helps to think of all the blood vessels in the
body as a huge, sophisticated railway network, where essentially all the blood in the veins throughout the
body ends up in the vena cava, the railway end station. The superior vena cava receives blood from the upper
part of the body, whereas the inferior vena cava receives blood from the lower part of the body. As the blood
fills up in the RA, the increased pressure eventually makes the tricuspid valve shut open, allowing
deoxygenated blood to enter the RV. As the deoxygenated blood flows into the RV, the pressure in front of the

Benjamin Franklin And John Winthrop
Benjamin Franklin and John Winthrop, men with different ideals, present the same notion that America
should be presented as a city upon a hill. Franklin believed that the American dream should be presented as
an ideal where men and women are equal and can both move up in social class on their own, practicing any
religion they desired. On the other hand, Winthrop believed that the new world was a religious safe haven
only for the Puritans. American Exceptionalism was overall the main focus, guiding America to define itself
as a special nation founded upon democratic values and liberty.

Franklin had a lot of respect for women, especially in a social setting. He did not a typical man s perspective
about women, he had a different understanding of women and their role in marriage. In his autobiography,
Franklin spoke of his wife with compassion and appreciation quoting an English proverb He that would
thrive must ask his wife (Franklin 62). Franklin respected his wife for her work ethic and considered himself
lucky to such an amazing woman in his life. Through his respect for his wife, Franklin demonstrated a
respect for all women and not just their ability to do basic household chores but their ability to perform
difficult tasks in the workplace as well. He believed that there was room for women in the American Dream.
During this time, women did not have very large roles in society besides being in charge or maintaining the
household, but Franklin foreshadowed an America that would have women as a strong part of the workforce
and leadership. He had high hopes that women would climb the ranks of society just as men did.
Franklin, himself climbed the ranks society having emerged from the poverty and obscurity in which [he]
was born and bred to a state of affluence and some degree of reputation in the world (Franklin 27). He had

  • 2. Elizabeth Barrett Browning And F. Scott Fitzgerald s The... The universal values portrayed through the texts Sonnets from the Portuguese (1845) by Elizabeth Barrett Browning and F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby (1926) highlight the similar and different intertextual perspectives and values relevant to the Victorian Era and 1920 s Jazz Age. Both composers offer compelling critiques of their society dedicating thematic concerns of the restorative power of hope and courtly idealised love. Through numerous literal techniques, substantial diversity arises through the historical context, composer s personal experiences, and human values. The restorative power of hope is a significant universal value in the setting of the Victorian era focusing on female empowerment. Browning cultivates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Periodontal Assessment Some clinical findings I would expect to see at the re evaluation appointment include a halt in the progression of periodontal disease. At the re evaluation appointment, we would hopefully see healing and a decrease in probing depth measurements. A new periodontal assessment is needed for a re evaluation appointment which is a major component of the re evaluation appointment because you need to compare the new data with the baseline data. The periodontal assessment includes probing depths, bleeding on probing, attachment level, tooth mobility, furcation involvement, mucogingival involvement, and levels of plaque biofilm and calculus. At the re evaluation appointment we should see better probing depths but if we don t, that means the disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sequence of care for a periodontal maintenance appointment would start with updating the medical status because we always want to know what medications, allergies, or medical problems the patient might have to provide the best standard of care. The next step would be the patient interview which would include any social status issues, review of dental care, and clarification of the patient s perceptions of their own oral status. Next would be the clinical assessment which would include comparing new data to baseline data, extraoral and intraoral examination, dental examination, radiographs, and periodontal examination. For this case study patient, I would recommend that 4 vertical bitewings are taken at the periodontal maintenance appointment and a full mouth series be taken every 3 5 years. The next step in the appointment should be an evaluation of the effectiveness of self care which would be done by calculating the patient s plaque score. During this step of the appointment, I would tell the patient where they brush well and where they can improve brushing. Identification of treatment needs is the next step in the appointment when the clinician would indicate the needs the patient would have patient such as restorations and reinstitution of active periodontal therapy. The patient may need professional biofilm removal. For periodontal instrumentation, I would use the Cavitron to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The New York City Council A bill is a proposed legislation that is brought to a legislative body. In the case of the New York City Council, the bill is introduced into the Council at a Stated Meeting and becomes a law after an intricate voting or vetoing process with the Council and the Mayor of New York City ( Legislative Process ). In the last year, many bills were passed by the New York City Council. While browsing through the list of bills passed in the last year, a bill in particular stood out to me Reducing city government emission of greenhouse gases by 40 percent by 2030, as it is a bill that proposes a way to tackle climate change. The bill was dated to be on the agenda for October 15, 2015, and its co sponsors are Donovan J. Richards, Costa G. Constantinides, Margaret S. Chin, Mathieu Eugene, Vincent J. Gentile, Corey D. Johnson, Peter A. Koo, Rosie Mendez, Annabel Palma, Deborah L. Rose, Andrew Cohen, and Ydanis A. Rodriguez. It proposes for the city government to have at least a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 ( The New York City Council ). Four months prior to the bill coming to the agenda of the New York City Council, Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged to cut greenhouse gas emissions in New York City. He presented new targets for greenhouse gas emissions for New York City and urged other cities to follow suit. Though he did not directly mention the proposal of the bill to the City Council, he announced at the Vatican that the Big Apple was taking an interim step by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The War On The Front Lines The refusal to obey orders, or a violent attempt to take control from people of authority. 1 The Great War was a rugged time for many throughout its duration from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. The speculations and thoughts of the general public and the soldiers in battle behind the ongoing war changed drastically over the four years. The moral and willpower of the soldiers declined heavily, and this had a large impact on how the war was fought. Many soldiers captured their accounts of these changes in journals as diaries and there is one French soldier s diary that accurately depicts mutiny on the front lines. There is a clear correlation between the changes in the amount of recruits and supplies available, the manner in which the war was fought, and the general feelings behind the war as time went on, which caused some soldiers to choose mutiny. At the beginning of the war, the duties behind what the soldiers had to do were largely appreciated and they were held above others as heroes. People of warring countries were rushing to battle and their loved ones were supporting them all of the way. Battalions were even formed from work groups, as they already withheld an established chain of command, the members had a close knit bond, and there was a charismatic feeling about representing the country they worked in. The glorified fighting and risking of one s life was soon changed. The way the war was fought also fiercely changed. The battle techniques early on in 1914 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I could not stay upset for a long time because if I would have given up, I would not have been able to meet with this group. This meeting place was somewhere I had visited before in order to support a friend. Since I had previously attended the meeting at this location I expected to see some of the same individuals from the previous visit. I also expected to experience a different set up for the meeting, but I did not. The step of the meeting was the same as the previous visit, but due to my anger I did not pay attention to the group s set up. In the beginning of the meeting, the hostesses both greeted themselves and welcomed everyone to the meeting. They asked if there were any announcements that were needed to be made, and about two persons discussed an AA event that was approaching. It was similar to a retreat that individuals could attend with their sponsors. Mother In Refugee Camp Poem Analysis Remember by Christina Rossetti, Mother in Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe and War Photographer by Carol Ann Duffy all explore different perspectives of death and its inevitability. In the poem Mother in Refugee Camp, Chinua Achebe exposes the reader to the realistic and horrific conditions of a refugee camp, culminating in the lamentable death of the child. The language, the use of metaphors and similes and structure call attention to the idea of cyclical death in a refugee camp. The poem War Photographer explores the continual cycle of death in war zones. Duffy examines the predicament the war photographer faces whether to intervene in the ongoing conflict or to uncover the reality and destruction of conflict. However, Remember exhibits a ... Moreover, this revolutionary war of independence helped the slaves in getting their independence as well. This is when several thousands of the slaves attained the status of independence by running away. As a result of the revolution, the slaves started to fight against the slavery after getting the encouragement from the natural right philosophy of the seventeenth century English philosopher John Locke (Digital History), which is also a part of the constitution of the United States of America. This natural right philosophy is nothing else but the right to life and liberty that the constitution of the United States guarantees to provide its citizens. In addition to this fight of the African American against the slavery, the slaves began to appeal the Congress in order to destruct the slavery. Furthermore, under the new constitution, the slaves were considered as 3/5 as productive as a free person (Cardoza and Hume 116). Thus, after the revolution, the slaves were also given representation while earlier the slaves were not considered to have any kind of rights since they were not considered the citizens. • 11. Social Class Reflection Paper Before this class I always viewed sport as a sanctuary for everyone regardless of their race, social class, and gender as something they can do together. That once everyone was on the field or at the game, we were all the same. I believed that it was an activity that did not have a political influence and it was purely for entertainment. While I still believe some of that is true, this class has challenged my view point by forcing me to view sports through a different lens. As students, we tend to look at everyday activities through our personal experiences and assume that everyone else around us is experiencing them the same way. We tend to overlook the truth because we are uncomfortable admitting that things such as discrimination, and sexism still happen in today s world. More specifically, I was challenged to look at my life experiences in three different categories. These categories include the effect of neoliberalism on today s society, my social class, and my race. Through these three categories, I was able to pull out the differences between my own life and the lives of others. By viewing the same experience through another person s eyes, I noticed the extreme differences that they are going through because of the influence from society. In the following paper, I will mention how the effect of neoliberalism has influenced the way myself and others view and experience a sporting experience, how my social class standing has structured what sports I had access to and ... Statutory Background Of Facta Litigation Essay Before addressing the specific claims of this Comment, it is necessary to examine the statutory background of FACTA litigation, the realities of class action § 1681c(g) litigation, the case law establishing what constitutes willfulness, and the standards for a 12(b)(6) motion to dismiss. Sections I.A and I.B will examine FACTA and its underlying policies, as well as the reasons for the temporary safe harbor Congress later created for violations of the expiration date requirement. Next, Section I.C will explore the realities of § 1681c(g) litigation, particularly the massive liability that defendants face from the aggregation of statutory damages via class action suits. Third, because the recovery of statutory damages depends on showing that a defendant willfully violated FACTA, Section I.D will explore Safeco, the Supreme Court decision establishing the meaning of willfulness in FACTA cases. Finally, Section I.E will examine the new pleading standards established in Twombly and Iqbal in order to better inform the later discussion of pre and post Iqbal 1681c(g) case law. A. The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act Congress passed FACTA on December 4, 2003, amending the Fair Credit Reporting Act (the FCRA ). • 16. Why Is Beowulf Epic Or Awesome Beowulf is an epic poem, but you already know that. But by modern terms, I would definitely classify this poem as epic or awesome . I don t quite understand why, but I really enjoyed this poem. It was very easy to read. I was able to comprehend all of the text without any trouble. From the beginning of the story, you know that the heroic character is going to have some divine motivations. Beowulf will become the idol of Geats, he will gain much glory and respect and a little bit of fame. Clearly, these were his motivations for all of his courageous acts and he certainly fulfilled his expectations. When Beowulf agrees to battle Grendel, he is purely accepting the challenge because he feels it is his moral obligation. He knows it is his duty to defend and protect the citizens of Geats. Obviously, no one honestly wants to fight a massive lizard man, who can crush thirty men at once, but hey, let s let Beowulf give it a shot. Surprisingly, Beowulf tells the King that he wants to fight the monster with his bare hands; grappling, would be a better way to describe his intentions. I am still not completely sure why Beowulf chose to deny any and all kinds of weapons, but his insane game plan ends up working, so I guess that s all that truly matters ... • 17. The Causes Of Crime Crime can never be eliminated in the world and it would be abnormal if it ever did happen in society. Perhaps, a society without crime is a spiral of our own imagination. Crime can be related to intra class struggles because it still makes an impact in America. In today s society crime is a norm for many cities in America. According to Forbes, St. Louis is the most dangerous city in America in 2017. Why are there increasing rates of crime over the last decade? What are the reasons for crime? The reasons of crime can stem from poverty, unemployment, politics, drug abuse, and recurring individuals in and out of prison. In past history, former Mayor Richard J. Daley was involved in a corruption scandal. There is a history of corruption by officials in Chicago because they would use the political machine to gain political support to win in office. This machine is produced by a boss or group that demands the support of other officials through scandalous control. Daley allowed the poor to suffer and the richer get wealthier. The purpose is to gain control over a particular area. In today s society, the machine is still seen today in Chicago s Police Department. Durkheim argues that crime makes society functions as a whole. He states that crime is normal because it generates the collective sentiment. Collective sentiments reinforce the values and ethical standards that society has brought forth to follow. The rules that are broken are established ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You see no ideas are necessarily right or wrong ultimately like in life people do not always agree In Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and Sublime section one by Immanuel Kant. Immanuel Kant begins with discussing the idea that feeling happy or sad does not come from the nature of external things but more of what a person s ability to let things make them feel pleasure of pain. He stresses that all people are different. Something that may make someone feel upset can make another happy. Kant then continues to talk about the feeling of the sublime and beautiful. He uses examples to display his opinions. First he begins to talk about the sight of mountains along with raging storms in which beautiful things enjoyment can be seen as well as horror. On the other hand we can look at grazing flocks and Homers portrayal of the girdle of Venus. Kant sees those through as a pleasant sensation with joy and smiling. You can see that the difference is that certain beautiful situations can be seen as horror. Kant says that sublime must always be great. It must be simple but the beautiful can be adorned and ornamented. From the reading I can conclude that Kant strived to get his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you must have an accident that totals your older vehicle, the auto insurance company will only pay you cheaper wholesale value of cars. That is why we want to hold the driver, well, more than the vehicle itself. You can also save with cheaper car insurance by combining coverage on their vehicles with other types of insurance, such as insurance or renters homeowners. The water that they fetch is not the water we drink instead it is not clean and purified for drinking, it is contaminated with diseases that are the major cause for huge death rates, especially in children. • 22. Examples Of Superiority In To Kill A Mockingbird Have you ever wondered how people prove superiority? Superiority is when people try to prove to others that they are superior. This is something that people think is a lot less common than it actually is. It happens everyday and can have lifelong effects. Even though our society says that it does not approve of those who judge someone by their skin color, religion, culture, age, or gender, people often act out these prejudices with violent behavior because they want to prove their own superiority. People of various cultures have tried to prove superiority violently. A good example of this is in Night when the nazis slapped Ellie s father, Then as walking from a deep sleep he slapped my father with such force that he fell down and then crawled back to his place on all fours (Wiesel 39). Another example of this is in Night when Ellie gives a nobel winning speech I belong to a traumatized generation, one that experienced the abandonment and solitude of our people (Wiesel 119). This pretty much summarizes the entire speech and has long lasting effects because he is trying to spread the word and clearly let others know that it is not ok to do something like this again. A third great example of this is in Prom Night In Mississippi when the school votes to move away from black and white proms ( Prom Night n.pag.). The Bible Is One Of The Bestselling Books INTRODUCTION The Bible is one of the bestselling books in the world, for this reason it is incredibly important for Christians and non Christians alike to examine the reliability of the text. Because the nature of this paper is rather short, the historical evidence outlined will be brief and not all inclusive. This paper will examine the writings and thoughts of many great people including Joshua McDowell, J. Walter Wallace and William Craig. For the purpose of clarity when discussing the Bible or Scriptures this paper is referring to the Christian Bible which totals of 66 Books. If there was even a single error the copy was discarded and they began anew. Not only were these manuscripts incredibly accurate they also were numerous. The New Testament has over 24,000 manuscripts with the earliest copy dating about twenty five years after the original (McDowell 1992, 52). In comparison, Homer s Iliad, one of the most historically accepted manuscripts, has only 642 manuscripts with a 500 year gap between the original and the first surviving copy. Since Homer s Iliad is considered reliable it seems the New Testament should also be considered a reliable copy of the original. SUPPORTING EVIDENCE #2 The reliability of the Bible as a historical document is the first form of evidence which points to the reliability of the Bible as a whole. The most trustworthy records of history are eyewitness accounts, writings of those who had a trustworthy source (such as an eyewitness), and archeological findings (Bowman 1965, 15). The Bible has all three of these evidences present. For instance, Exodus, Jeremiah, and Matthew are all examples of accounts written by firsthand eye witnesses. Luke and Acts were written by Luke who was a friend of many eyewitnesses. Furthermore, even eyewitnesses who were antagonistic towards Christians, such as Josephus, affirmed the truth ... The film, which was directed by Fritz Lang, was one of the first science fiction movies in the history of film. The film was host to many German stars at the time such as Alfred Abel and Brigette Helm. It was a collaboration of scale models and paintings, which made up an entire futuristic city. It was breathtaking, especially considering the time period. The story itself was beautifully written by Lang and his wife. It was the first science fiction film ever made, no one had made a futuristic story about robots before, but that s just what Metropolis was on the surface. Inside it was a story of love, a story of indifference, a story of struggle, it was a human story, and that s what made it so successful. It was written simply, it was easy to understand yet it told a complex multilayered story. The lighting only brought more emotion and mood to the film. For all the close ups the faces were light very brightly, the natural shadows in the face in contrast with the bright light stressed the state of the characters. The lighting in Rotwang s lab however was very dark, and there were a lot of shadows, which exemplified the nature of his character. The main element that made this film was the acting. It was necessary that all acting be overdramatic, it was the only way for the audience to truly grasp the emotions of the characters on screen. • 27. The Time Of Cholera By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay Is Gabriel García Márquez s legendary novel, Love in the Time of Cholera, truly a love story ? Unfortunately, García Márquez does not deal in the art of drug store romance novels, as the narrative of Love in the Time of Cholera cannot be reduced to its themes, or moral schema. (Wilson 280) His novel does not feed us a singular concept of true love in the same way such notions have been popularized in western media and literature it is far more complex and multifarious than such, which is part of the reason Love in the Time of Cholera maintains such high critical acclaim. It is not one, singular love story with black and white division between true and illusionary romance, but a twist on such. Love in the Time of Cholera is rather a story of many loves from Florentino and Fermina, to Fermina and Dr. Urbino, to Fermina and Hildebranda, to Florentino and his lovers, and so on; all the loves in this novel are genuine, and are nothing besides love. Of course, the author himself expresses that all the stories he has written are love stories , but in the case of the dysfunctional romances in Love in the Time of Cholera, do the principles of conventional true love hold true? There is plenty of evidence that it does not. What Is History Hope For The American Future American History: Hope for The American Future People look at the future as an opportunity to adjust their life, because of the things that happened to them in the past. We should not just as one or two people look at the past, but we all should look back and study on these historical events. As Americans, we can use historical data or a personal view. People make mistakes everyday, because we are human and sin is in our nature. Sin is an evil and a corrupt element everyone has. Sin has shaped the United States in an UnGodly manner. Adam and Eve are historical for not just America to look at but the whole world. God told Adam and Eve that they had full reign over all of the Garden of Eden, but one tree. God told them to never eat from that tree as it was the forbidden tree. In Genesis 3:3 God says, You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die. Athlete s bodies are affected by the use of these additional cells and can have a major outcome on how they perform in the long run future. This is an illegal act by athletes and can majorly effect the body and its homeostasis. says Savannah Rhind. The tiny gap between winning and losing has led athletes to look for what they call marginal gains, whether that comes from extra sleep, better equipment, or even cheating (David Epstein, 2015). Athletes may lift weights with the desire to get stronger, but that s not what motivates the athlete s body. Lifting weights damages muscles, which causes homeostatic stress. Enough damage to that muscle will cause the body to react by imaginatively saying I don t like this damage so I m going to form the muscle back bigger and stronger. That way, the next time this stressor is thrown at me, I can homeostatically handle it. (Trevor Connor, 2014). But, how does the body accomplish the perfect equilibrium? Well hormones play the part of this role. Sensors in the body can detect any imbalanced pathway in the body and tells the brain to release the appropriate hormones that is needed to restore a balanced pathway again. Once the stressor is gone, the hormones break down. The basic feedback loop diagram below represents how our bodies are able to reach homeostasis after a stressor occurs and what happens if they occur again, this cycle is important for our bodies to function ... Topics in Labor Relations Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something. Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13). In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. Media s Influence On The Public Perception Of The Media Journalism is an industry that provides a source of information and news for the public, while popular culture is a source of portrayal of the image of the journalist. Popular culture provides a glimpse and shapes the people s impressions of the news media , whether it is portrayed in a positive or negative light. There is no denying that popular culture possesses a large effect on what the public perceives and thinks about journalists and the industry through how the characters, plotlines are presented. Sociologists have even argued that popular culture s depictions...of real world professions have a major influence on the public s realistic perception of that respective field. Thus, it is not a surprise that in the 1930s, journalist organizations deliberately advocated positive portrayals of the press in Hollywood. An example of a film that stands as a positive representation is The Front Page. Although the film presents reporters and editors lying and hurting innocent people , the audience is able to fall for their unique charm and charisma they are brash, fast paced, intelligent, composed, independent, passionate and investigative.
