Religion Of Islam In America
Muslims have been treated horribly throughout the history of the United States. The attacks on
September 11, 2001 only further put Muslims in a negative standing with other Americans. Many
Americans view all terrorists as Muslims because of the terrorists claiming the religion of Islam for
their actions. The attacks put fear into the hearts of all Americans eventually leading to the war on
terrorism. With a renewed sense of nationalism many Americans joined the armed forces to take down
the terrorist threat. Americans gained strong feelings of resentment towards Muslims due to the
terrorist threat. Because of this misunderstanding many Muslims are shunned by American society as
a result. Many Muslims due to being shunned stray away and practice their religion in seclusion to
avoid scrutiny. The true terrorists and the contributions that many Muslim Americans make to aid the

This claim by terrorist is false because Islam is a religion that does not support violence. Those of true
Islamic faith are peaceful and nonviolent individuals. The religion of Islam is a moral compass for its
followers that give faith and hope (Bhutto 272) helping those of Islamic faith build strong morals. The
religion of Islam is very similar to Judaism and Christianity and their teachings. Islam, Christianity,
and Judaism focus in on having the importance of having a special convent with God. All three
religions also stress moral responsibility and accountability (How is Islam is similar to Christianity
and Judaism. Islami City, N.D. Web. 24 April 2016) further proving Islam focuses on peace as
opposed to violence. Islam should never be viewed as a violent religion separate to Christianity and
Judaism. All three are incredibly similar and proves that true Muslim, Christians, and Jews all follow a

Analysis Of The House Of Mirth By Lara Saltz
Selden, in The House of Mirth, is a character that is part of the Elite class, but that doesn t allow the
constraints of the elites shadow his vision. In her essay, Lara Saltz argues Selden is able to see real,
poetic Lily because he possesses both an acute eye for what is materially in front of him (Saltz 1). She
continues on with this thesis, arguing that Selden posses a balance between realism and imagination,
that allows him to see the real Lily, during her performance of Sir Joshua Reynold s pain, Mrs Lloyd.
Evidence in the novel showing that Selden can see past the illusions of high life, can be seen in Lily
realizing that Selden is detached from the social world, the discussion of love between Lily and Selden
and Lily s final confrontation of Selden and subsequent death. These three pieces of evidence support
Saltz s assertion that Selden can see things for what they really are due to his ability to balance realism
and imagination. The first, being Lily s observation that Selden is detached from the social class. The
party, being thrown by Mrs. Trenor, is the stage in which Lily discovers that Selden is detached from
social class. The entire affair, starts with Lily being asked to help, it seems, to plan the weeding.
during this planning, it is discovered that Mrs. Trenor has scheduled the party in conflict with another
character s own party. They move in this sense, not really caring about who will be offended and even
offer their own view to placate any

Factors of Wind Energy
Wind
Introduction
Wind is created by temperature gradients , created by differences in heat received on the surface of the
earth as a result of incoming radiation from the Sun. These gradients depend on the angle of the
incident sunlight, as well as the characteristics of the terrain and are vital for the formation of specific
regional climates. Land and water masses have different heat capacities which lead to an uneven
heating of the planet s surface. As there are different temperatures in different regions due to the
aforementioned reasons, bulk motion of air molecules is created as the density of air changes with
temperature, leading to concentration gradients and pressure gradients. These pressure gradients are

Figure 2: A typical Weibul distribution for wind speeds
Source : http://www.wind energy the facts.org/the annual variability of wind speed.html Intermittency
The greatest problem for wind power production integration into the electrical grid is intermittency.
The wind is variable on different timescales, as turbulent gusts change the hourly production, and
climate/temperature fluctuate the daily and sometimes seasonal power contained by the wind. This
instability needs regulation and different operational reserves, in order to maintain grid stability and
avoid electricity spillage/shortage.
Energy Storage
Intermittent energy resources can be used in tandem with energy storage systems for better grid
stability. The most common technique for energy storage is pumped hydro, which can be used
together with wind to store excessive energy and provide it when required. Such cooperative systems
increase the overall efficiency and financial viability of such ventures, as the usage of stored energy
shifts to displace more expensive means of power production, like fossil fuels. The low maintenance
costs of pumped hydro systems and money saving on peak electricity production make them
financially appealing even though their starting capital investment is considerable.
Environmental Effects
Wind has minimal environmental effect as it produces no greenhouse gases. The only production of
such gases occurs in the manufacturing stage

Characteristics Of Exotic Pets
Exotic pets
Exotic pets are a certain type of unique pets which are of wild species that are kept in households as
pets. They consist of amphibians, reptiles and rodents. These are usually indigenous to the locale in
which they are brought up.
Therefore their character traits are not similar to those of other domesticated animals. Examples of
exotic animals include bears, alligators, deer, crocodiles, chameleons, garter snakes, octopuses,
kangaroos, zebras, skunks and savannah monitors. In many countries all over the world, human beings
live together with these animals and these people end up having personal relationships with these
exotic animals.
Exotic animals as pets maybe kept for various reasons. Some people keep them for adventure. They

large room for its house or room and also needs a pond or pool. A hedgehog also falls in this category.
These animals are very friendly and create a personal bond with their owners. These types of animals
are usually low maintenance and are calm in nature. The only drawback of these kind of animals is
that they are nocturnal which may prove to be a nuisance especially to their owners. Another animal
that falls in this category of small exotic pets is a skunk. This animal is usually excellent as a pet but
to gain the maximum benefits of this animal, one has to remove their scent glands. These type of
animals are low maintenance. To add on this, these unique pets are very playful which means they can

Analysis Of Sandra Cisneros s The House On Mango Street
Just by looking at the front cover of The House on Mango Street, one could grasp an idea of what the
novel is about and how it is presented. It is a story, decorated with colorful detail and authenticity, of a
girl adjusting to a new home and growing up. In the introduction to the novel, Cisneros paints a
picture of who she had been at the time she had written this novel. Cisneros discusses how as a girl
she always wanted to move into a standalone house as opposed to the apartments she had been living
in throughout her early childhood. She also mentions her father s role in her life and how they had not
often seen eye to eye. Her father had never understood why she wanted to live in a house. He also had
wanted Cisneros to marry and have babies, however, at the time she had written this novel, she had
been uninterested in that. Meanwhile, she states that she has never had a father or boyfriend beat her
when she writes about how privileged her life had been up to that point. This is all reflected in The
House on Mango Street. Sandra Cisneros writes in her own unique voice in The House on Mango
Street by using unconventional short anecdotes that feature a cast of distinct characters to include
aspects of her own life. In the beginning of the introduction, Cisneros describes what she was like
when she was a young. Cisneros writes, As a girl, she dreamed of having a silent home, just to
herself... (Cisneros xii). This desire is reflected through Esperanza, the narrator, in the

A Mauling on a Beautiful Summer Day Essay
I could hear the sirens in the distance. Everything blurred into slow motion. It had attacked. . . .
Hot summer sun glistened in the bright blue sky. The white sand felt warm beneath our bare feet. My
friends, Patrick and Tommy, and I had just spent a glorious day at the beach building sand castles and
jumping the white washed waves. It was another perfect day of summer vacation.
Our rumbling stomachs indicated that it was time to venture home. We vaulted on to our scooters and
rode back to Patrick Tommy s apartment. When we got there, we commenced to bring out the food for
the barbeque. Hot dogs, hamburgers, homemade potato salad, apple cider, and fresh homemade apple
pie for dessert were on the menu. The neighbors had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ambulance was approaching and the stench of burning rubber on the scorching black top
permeated the warm summer air as the truck raced around the corner. The truck screeched to a halt in
driveway; the lumbering sound of footsteps hustled down the front path. Two men dressed in dark
blue uniforms bolted through the ajar screen door. The paramedics had arrived. One paramedic was
carrying a small black bag. The other had a stethoscope strewn around his neck.
The paramedic holding the small black bag leaned down to my face to probe the wound. He
immediately reached into his bag and pulled out a large sterilized roll of white gauze, a dark bottle
containing disinfectant, a thermometer, and a device that takes blood pressure. While the other
paramedic talked to my mom to find out what happened, I could feel the blood pressure cuff tighten
around my arm and then, like a balloon, immediately deflate. The plastic tip of the thermometer filled
my ear with a beeping sound as it digitally displayed my temperature. The gauze, drowned in
disinfectant, swam laps across my cheek. The blood had coagulated and the gash exposed itself in all
of its glory. Nearly three inches long, it felt as though my entire face was ripped open.
Paramedics listened intently to my mom as she described the horrific details. What started out as a
beautiful day at the beach was now an evening

How Can Vitamin D Get Breastmilk
Vitamin D and Breastmilk
There is a growing interest in Vitamin D these past few years. Vitamin D is for the metabolism of the
bone. It is important throughout life. Aside from that, Vitamin D have many other functions in the
human body that plays an important role in the prevention of chronic diseases. Vitamin D is very
important and we get enough of it from the time we are born.
Here are the 7 facts you need to know about Vitamin D and the breastmilk
1. Vitamin D is not deficient in breastmilk. It is true that Vitamin D level is low in breastmilk but it is
not nature s fault. There are physiological reasons for it. Breastmilk is the biologically normal way to
feed babies and if breastmilk is a less or plenty, there are good reasons for that.
2. We can get Vitamin D from sun exposure. We are designed to get Vitamin D from sun exposure
rather than from our diet. If we can get enough Vitamin D from sun exposure, ... Show more content

The ideal level of Vitamin D is still unknown. According to the Institue of Medicine, the Vitamin D
level is a blood concentration of at least 50 nmol/L while the Endocrine Society suggests that Vitamin
D level should be at least 75 nmol/L.
6. Each country has different recommendations. The recommendation about Vitamin D varies
depending on the country where you live. In the US, the American Academy of Pediatrics
recommends 400 IU per day of Vitamin D for breastfed babies since birth. On the other hand,
Australia recommends the use of Vitamin D supplement of 400 IU is limited to breastfed babies who
are born to dark skinned and veiled women.
7. Supplementing breastfeeding mothers can improve the level of Vitamin D of their babies.
Breastfeeding mothers who will take Vitamin D supplement of 6400 IU/day will supply her breastmilk
enough Vitamin D to support the requirement of her breastfed baby. This is an alternative way to
giving a supplement directly to the

Should City Council Be Able To Give Teens Curfew
Should city council s be able to give teenagers curfews? If a teenager s parent allows them to be home
later than ten on weekdays or twelve on weekends then so be it. The city council should not be the one
to parent a teenager! A city curfew just will make teenagers want to stay out even longer. If a city
decides to make a curfew that says teenagers cannot stay out later than ten on weekdays and twelve on
weekends will just make them have to sneak out and be breaking the law while they are at it! So if you

their parents let them or make them just break the law? Also, a city curfew for teenagers is
unconstitutional. Teenagers have the

Middle Class, It Is Time To Do Your Research To Save Money Student loan debt has become a big
financial problem for the United States of America. The Student loan debt nationwide is now in the
range of one trillion dollars. President Obama has now addressed this problem with the federal student
loan forgiveness program which will help graduate students with paying for their loan, but that does
not seem like that will be enough to help with this problem. Has anyone asked the question, How did
we allow this to happen and what can we do to help the next generation of graduates? Incoming

Impact Of The American Automotive Industry Essay
The American automotive industry is a massive force, to say the least. The historical impacts of
automotive technology and assembly line manufacturing has effected economies around the world and
has also created world wide ecological challenges. Governments, under pressure from
environmentalists, have had to realize, create, implement, and constantly refine manufacturing and
emission standards. Consumers, who foot the gas bill for vehicles, continue to express their desire for
less expensive autos that require less fuel without sacrificing style, comfort, safety, or performance.
One cannot discuss the impacts of the American automotive industry without giving due credit to
Henry Ford. While Ford did not create the first gas powered car, nor the first assembly line, he did
revolutionize both (Voice of America, 2012). He was an accomplished machinist and one day he
discovered a gas powered machine called a Silent Otto (Voice of America, 2012). Henry was a self
motivated independent learner who relished innovative challenges. As his innovations developed
marketable products, Ford insisted on making cars that were affordable for everyone. The
improvements he made to assembly line manufacturing streamlined production and kept consumer
costs low, even though he had to fight tooth and nail to retain this control. Ford s advancements in
mass production lead to foreign expansion in Japan and Western Europe after both World War 1 and

How Did Robespierre Influence The French Revolution
Robespierre was hinting at a society based on virtue defining the political positon of a person set in a
similar society of terror, an early communist like society. But the Convention greatly disagreed with
him and agreed that he had begun to go insane with power, similarly to how Napoleon Bonaparte
would for the following years militaristically. Consumed by the Revolution, Robespierre is then
executed. Starting the war, Robespierre held a firm belief of sovereignty and equality, to form a
republic, and was against the death penalty, viewing it as an excessive punishment. But, as the war
progresses his ideology begins to change, favoring the use of the guillotine and leading a society of
terror. Marat was an extreme radical of the French Revolution. The difference to the others was the
fact that he was not part of any political group, but instead a powerful and influential advocator
through the press. Through his writing, he called for war against the monarchy, death to any traitors,
and declared anyone that did not support the National Assembly was not a true French citizen and
labeled a counterrevolutionary. In voicing these things, the public became more motivated to fight for
the cause and Marat became a saint among the people, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Disability Discrimination And Americans With Disability...
1. Introduction In the field of legal research and practices, it is against the law to discriminate any
person against his/her disability in various areas of their lives. Today, discrimination against disability
has become a complete law by which a person can sue the other party for being discriminated on any
impairment. In the United States, the law is covered by Americans with Disability Act (ADA). The
law prevents one party (specifically employers) to discriminate other party (particularly employees)
on the basis of their physical impairments. The purpose of this paper is to discuss and analyze
disability discrimination. The paper will include detail description and history of disability
discrimination and Americans with Disability Act (ADA). The paper will also include three cases
showing background, issues, questions and holdings of each case. Finally, opinion will be provided for
the paper and conclusion will be drawn on the basis of discussion.

Nuclear Case Study
BLUF: The nuclear proliferation of the Democratic People s Republic of Korea (DPRK) presents a
serious threat to the stability of the East Asian region. Heavily reliant upon the People s Republic of
China (PRC) for economic and diplomatic support, the United States (U.S.) must construct a strategic
agreement with the PRC to pressure the DPRK into non nuclear proliferation to assure stability within
East Asia.
The DPRK s increase in the display of military force, including 30 ballistic missile tests within the last

The DPRK s diplomatic and economic relationships with the PRC is essential to the sovereignty and
stability of the state. Despite the international opprobrium regarding the DPRK s nuclear program, the
PRC continues to use various diplomatic tactics, including military power, territorial size and
contiguity, and veto power in the United Nations (U.N.) Security Council to preserve the interests of
the DPRK from foreign threats. Most recently, was the enactment of the UN Resolution 1718 where
the PRC abolished the proposed economic sanctions against the DPRK. Similarly, the economic
viability of the DPRK is largely dependent upon the food and energy imports from China, which
accounts for nearly 90 percent of the DPRK s total trade volume. Current economic trends display that
the bilateral trade between the PRC and DPRK has increased 37.4 percent within the first quarter of
2017 and is expected to increase throughout the remainder of the present year.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECCOMENDATIONS
A nuclear DPRK presents the U.S. with an urgent and dangerous challenge. The unique Sino North

Analysis Of Behind The Beautiful Forevers
Over the course of this semester our Sociology class was required to read Behind the Beautiful
Forever s. Throughout the novel the characters stories are singled out in order for readers to have a
better understanding of the challenges they faced. The novel begins in Mumbai in the slums of
Annawadi where the main characters are introduced. The novel then goes into detail about the
struggles these people are going through because of the poverty they live in. It is heartbreaking to read
because their situations only seem to get worse. The people of Annawadi are affected negatively by
the local and global changes. Although it seems all hope is lost it does not stop them from dreaming
big and working hard. With positive attitudes and having the want to change anything is possible, and
the people of Annawadi can change their situations. Behind the Beautiful Forever s is a landmark
novel of people working for a better life when all odds are against them.

William Shakespeare was a 16th century playwright that wrote many famous plays. One of his most
famous plays is called Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is about star crossed lovers from rival
families. Shakespeare uses figurative language to highlight main themes such as love, death, and
foolhardiness. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare highlights love through the use of
hyperbole, imagery, similes and metaphors. Romeo and Juliet is a play about two star crossed lovers
from rival families that die trying to be together. In a story, a theme is an idea that is constantly
referenced throughout that story. The theme of love is shown multiple times in Romeo and Juliet

In Romeo and Juliet, similes compare two ideas to prove a point. When Romeo first sees Juliet, he
says As a rich jewel in an Ethiop s ear (Act 1, Scene 5, Line 53). Romeo is saying that Juliet is the
most beautiful person in the room and conveys that through a simile. During the balcony scene, Juliet
says My bounty is as boundless as the sea/ My love as deep (Act 2, Scene 2, Lines 140 141). Juliet
compares her love for Romeo to the depth of a sea through a simile. These quotes show that the love
between Romeo and Juliet is extremely deep. They also show how easy it is to express emotion

Business Plan For A Strategic Plan Essay
Introduction In this paper, I will select an organization and prepare a strategic plan to grow the
business over the next three years. This strategic plan will include certain criteria. That criteria
includes:
Describing my organization s history and major competitors.
I will explain the current situation of my organization in the market.
I will conduct a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) to determine areas
that offer opportunities for change.
Additionally, to the SWOT, I will choose three areas and why they are essential to the strategic plan. I
will also, use theories that support these three areas.
Lastly, I will explain my method to determine the level of success for my strategic plan.
The organization that I choose for my strategic plan is BoatUS. As I am currently serving in the
United States Coast Guard, I am very familiar with companies that work near or on the water. Boats
and other recreational vessels that operate on the water are also a passion of mine so I have interest in
this subject for when I retire from the Coast Guard.
Body BoatUS is an organization that offers a variety of services to the recreational boater. In fact, they
are the largest organization of its type in the United States with over 500,000 due paying members.
Founded in Richard Schwartz in 1966, it claims to serve the interest of the recreational boaters in the
United States. Some of the services that they include are towing,

Essay about The War of 1812
The War of 1812
On June 18, 1812, the United States declared war on Great Britain. The peace treaty to end the war
was signed in Europe, 1814. The war lasted from 1812 to the spring of 1815 because there was a delay
in communications. It was fought along the Canadian border, along with several sea battles. By the
time the war was over the United States lost 2,260 soldiers, and the British 1,600 soldiers. The war of
1812 was a very significant event that took place in the U.S. It did in fact confirm America s
independence. That is why it is often referred to as the second war of independence or the second
revolutionary war.
The United States had been upset with British for several reasons. British failed to withdraw from

The British maritime policy was influenced by it s jealousy of America s commercial growth. Even
though both France and Britain violated the United States neutral rights on the seas, the United States
resented Britain maritime policies more because they dominated the seas. The U.S. tried to peacefully
change the policies of the European powers. There would not be a British maritime policy if it had not
been for the war with France. The policy was intended to destroy Frances economy.
During the Napoleonic Wars the Royal Navy expanded to 175 ships of the line and 600 ships overall,
requiring 140,000 sailors. The Royal Navy turned to impressments when it didn t have enough able
bodies to man the ships. The Royal Navy went after Royal Navy Veterans or deserters who had left
and became sailors in the United States merchant navy by intercepting and searching U.S merchant
ships. Britain also considered any U.S. citizen born in British liable for impressments. The inability to
distinguish Americans from non Americans due to a wide spread of use of false identity led to frequent
impressments of Americans that had never been British. This became a major grievance.
The United States attempted to change the European policies by the Embargo Act of 1807, after the
Chesapeake affair of 1807. The Embargo Act banned all American ships from foreign trade.

The Class Sequence Could Be Improved
The class sequence could be improved. Some of the classes seemed, either out of sequence or the
information provided would have been better understood if presented first in another class. I believe
Ofc. Marlin tried to sequence these better but had difficulty with coordinating the schedules of the
instructors. When possible, give the training a higher priority and schedule early enough to minimize
last minute changes. This would benefit the training, the students, and Ofc. Marlin. Toward the end of

I am greatly appreciative of both sections this practical training. It was good to have the General
Order, Special Order, and other regulatory organization presented early. The general concept of state
laws, arrests, and violations was early but it would have been helpful to have had the legal class
around the same time. When presented, the legal class was very lawyerly ; meaning somewhat dry and
rote. A little more discussion might have been helpful. Public Speaking was a good class. It adequately
presented the necessary information and allowed us an opportunity to practice in class. Detective
Shirley and Office Yates did a good team job in the presentation. Interpersonal Communication was
also a good class. Ofc. Jones did a good job on the presentation. I m not sure why he presented this
information twice. Verbal Judo was a very important class and Detective Richardson presented it well.
This information was also adequately covered in the test/evaluations. As in Personal Safety and

The Similarities Between John Sloan And John Constable
John Constable was born the in year 1776, in Suffolk, England, and was raised in the English
countryside, which greatly influenced his later career as an artist. Almost one hundred years later, the
artist John Sloan was born in 1871, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His subsequent upbringing in the
city of Philadelphia significantly shaped his later career, in a similar fashion to Constable. Both were
brought up, not necessarily aspiring to be artists, but each found his passion for painting later in life.
Despite having little formal training, they each went on to become one of the most noted artists of
their times, each developing a fairly distinct style from the very beginnings their careers.
From the start, Constable was more disposed toward landscape painting, mostly scenes of his family s
properties that he had grown up on. Sloan, however, was more disposed to painting scenes he saw in
the city, usually involving people from many different walks of life. Even so, a great deal of affinity

The most prominent of these is the differences in composition between them. Constable uses a lower
perspective that is close to the ground in contrast to Sloan s bird s eye view. Constable s perspective
causes the viewer to feel like they are on the same level as the scene he s depicting, while Sloan s
angle causes the viewer to feel as if they are floating somewhere above, looking down on the scene.
Sloan s painting also has a lot more focus on the buildings in his picture; they are right in the
foreground, and they block out most of the view of the sky. The difference of focus can be seen as one
observes and compares that to the more prominent natural components in Constable s piece. The
buildings in his painting are more in the background and don t take up very much space in the picture

Valuation of AirThread
This case deals with the valuation of AirThread Connections Business (ATC) from the perspective of
its potential acquirer, American Cable Communication (ACC). ACC is a large cable operator which
serves the video, internet and landline telephony needs of millions of users across America. However
it is recently looking to acquire ATC which is one of the largest wireless companies in the United

Using the other data provided in Exhibit 1 of the case study, we can calculate the Un Levered Free
Cash Flow for ATC during the period 2008 2012 as shown in the above table.
Discount rate calculation for AirThread
To calculate the discount rate for AirThread, we have looked at the industry Asset Beta (this measures
the systematic business risk).
The Asset Beta for each firm is calculated using the formula βa= βe/1+(D/E)(1 t)
e.g. For Universal Mobile this value is computed as follows (we are using the tax rate as 40%)
0.86 / (1 + (0.923)(1 0.4) = 0.5534
The Industry average is simply the average of all the firms listed. Once we have the Asset Beta, we
can calculate the Equity beta using the following formula βe = βa/ (1 (D/V))
The highlighted row represents the average Debt/Value ratio for the industry as seen in the previous
table. Therefore the Unlevered Cost of

Whittington s Argumentative Analysis
The United States Constitution lays out the structure and powers of our nation and acts as the guide to
all future legislation and political decisions in our country. Power is divided in this constitution among
the executive, legislative, and judicial branches this judicial branch is the focus here. The supreme
court is meant to interpret the constitution and limit the powers of the executive and legislative
branches. Its power enumerated in the constitution is judicial review, where the supreme court decides
which laws are constitutional or unconstitutional. Although this seems quite simple given a detailed
constitution of powers and rights, the document and politics surrounding it are incredibly nuanced, as
noted by Professor Wralstad Ulmschneider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Originalists, especially like Whittington and Rehnquist, subscribe to the notion that the framers of the
US constitution were these sorts of omniscient, political masterminds who made a perfect constitution,
which was fully though out, unflawed, and wholly intentional. As Marshall notes in his argument, so
many things in American history point us away from this idea. Marshall points to voting rights,
slavery, and the civil war, but more importantly, these founders were many of the same men who
constructed the Articles of Confederation, a constitution that inarguably failed the American people.
After ten years of this former constitution plaguing the United states with tyranny of the majority and
a poorly balanced government, many of the same men regathered to create a better constitution. Many
of us may agree that this constitution is superior to its predecessor, but what makes us think that it

Although Daley remained popular and influential during his several terms, his administration was
marred by a number of political scandals, by civil rights disturbances, and by a riot at the 1968
Democratic convention. Daley was among John F. Kennedy s key supporters in the 1960 presidential
election, providing him with the delegates who helped him win a first ballot nomination and a massive
Chicago vote that delivered Illinois for Kennedy in his narrow victory over Richard M. Nixon. Daley
hosted the 1968 Democratic National Convention at President Lyndon B. Johnson s request. Daley s
national reputation was seriously tarnished as the result of violence between anti Vietnam War
demonstrators and Chicago police. Ironically, Daley had been a private critic of the Victnam War and
had urged Johnson to withdraw U.S. forces. In 1972, Daley was dealt another blow when the
Democratic National Convention refused to seat his Illinois delegation because of noncompliance with
new selection rules. In 1976, Jimmy Carter said that Daley s endorsement clinched his first ballot
nomination for the presidency, but Daley failed to deliver Illinois for Carter in the election.

Essay on Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy
According to the website www.cpal/geocities.org, I found some valuable information to help me with
my report about exceptionalities in students. This website was almost like a tutorial that walked step
by step through the disability, causes, and treatments.
I found that in definition the words Cerebral Palsy are used to describe a medical condition that affects
control of the muscles. Cerebral means anything in the head and palsy refers to anything wrong with
control of the muscles or joints in the body. If someone has cerebral palsy it means that because of an
injury to their brain (that s the cerebral part) they are not able to use some of the muscles in their body
in the normal way (that s the palsy part). Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Changes in muscle tone let us move.
In this website I also learned that there are several types of CP. I wrote the different types below to
help understand each one individually.
1. Spastic Cerebral Palsy
If muscle tone is too high or too tight, the term spastic is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy.
Children with spastic CP have stiff and jerky movements because their muscles are too tight. They
often have a hard time moving from one position to another or letting go of something in their hand.
This is the most common type of CP. About half of all people with CP have spastic CP.
2. Ataxic Cerebral Palsy
Low muscle tone and poor coordination of movements is described as ataxic CP. Kids with ataxic CP
look very unsteady and shaky. They have a lot of shakiness, like a tremor you might have seen in a
very old person, especially when they are trying to do something like write or turn a page or cut with
scissors. They also often have very poor balance and may be very unsteady when they walk. Because
of the shaky movements and problems coordinating their muscles, kids with ataxic CP may take
longer to finish writing or art projects.
3. Athetoid Cerebral Palsy
The term athetoid is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy when muscle tone is mixed sometimes
too high and sometimes too low. Children with athetoid CP have trouble holding

Histrionic Personality Disorder Analysis
Those living with histrionic personality disorder are referred to as drama queens . Often such persons
are uncomfortable in situations where they are not the center of attention. People with this disorder are
often charming, flirtatious or seductive, and like to dress in an inappropriately provocative way
(Larsen, 2014). They can be theatrical, behaving or expressing emotions in a manner that draws
attention to themselves. Yet simultaneously, their emotional are shallow, lacking in detail and easily
changed. This gives them the air of being hollow and insincere. Moreover, the drama and strong
emotional display often embarrasses friends and family as they may embrace even casual
acquaintances with excessive enthusiasm, or may sob uncontrollably over some minor sentimentality.

Personality disorders such as histrionic personality disorder are typically diagnosed by a psychologist

histrionic personality disorder. Many people diagnosed with histrionic personality disorder avoid

Photodegradation of dioxins appears to be the only chemical reaction that leads to the elimination of
dioxins in the environment. Photochemical dechlorination and photooxidation in the presence of
hydroxyl radicals, ozone and PAN (peroxy acetyl nitrate) are two possible types of reactions. These
reactions, their velocities, their products are still poorly characterized.
However, in general, it appears that the photodegradation rates of dioxins increase when the number

However, metabolic rates remain low (2.23% after

What Is Examined Life Essay
n the immortal words of Socrates, The unexamined life is not worth living. Socrates certainly felt
strongly about his beliefs as he was willing to die for them and eventually did. But was it really worth
losing his life over? If so, will examining life make you happier? Life is worth examining, although
doing so will not always make people happy. The question then is why is it worth examining? It is
simple; the purpose of human beings is to grow to be better, something that cannot be achieved if we
do not examine life.
Even though we do not know what our purpose in life is, as a whole it can be agreed that humans seek
to improve themselves. Thinking back to human ancestral species the Homo erectus it is understood
that they did not simply accept the world for what was in front of them.
Rather, when opportunity for discovery was presented to them they set forth to it. For example, when
early hominin species discovered fire they did not simply walk away and accept the fact that it was a
part of nature and should therefore be left to be. Instead they questioned this aspect of nature and
through further examination were able to tame fire, an element that has long been credited for the rise
of human species.
Certainly it was well worth it for human ancestors to have examined life. Although in that situation it
brought happiness, this will not always be the case, allow me to elaborate. The
American government spends billions of dollars protecting its citizens from terrorist by

Inevitably, Sinclair wrote his novel as an appeal to Socialism, because democracy failed to neither

The novel follows Jurgis s Lithuanian immigrant family into the disgusting tenements and meat

America. They find themselves leashed to the grinding poverty and misery of the city slums despite all

Today I will talk about food security in the Democratic Republic of Congo. DR Congo is an African
country that consists of over 2,300,000 square kilometres (Central Intelligence Agency (US), 2013).
The population in DR Congo is around seventy five and a half million people with an average life

religion consists of Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslims plus some other smaller religions

In DR Congo there are two main agriculture regions, Plains of the east and the south and the eastern
highlands (The Washington Post Company, 2001). In the plains coffee beans, potatoes and leeks are
grown, while in the highlands tomatoes, sweet potatoes, yum and pumpkins are grow as the
temperatures are cool and there is more fertile soil (The Washington Post Company, 2001). DR Congo
is ranked 107th (the worst) in the world (Global Food Security Index, 2013). This ranking is produced
by the lack of food affordability, food availability and more importantly the quality and safety of the
food (Global Food Security Index, 2013). Every country, whether it s DR Congo or America, have
some strengths when it comes to food security. For DR Congo their strengths are agricultural import
tariffs (affordability), Volatility of agriculture production (availability), and nutritional standards
(quality and safety of food), just to name some (Global Food Security Index, 2013).
Some challenges that DR Congo face, in terms of food security, can be put in three sections as stated

America s Rights Of Utah
It seemed as though the U.S. would never allow Utah to become a state, at least as long as they
practiced polygamy, which was one issue they wouldn t budge on. Republicans stated that it was
Congress duty ...to prohibit in the Territories those twin relics of barbarism Polygamy, and Slavery.
(Republican Platform of 1856)
By granting Utah statehood, the U.S. Government would be able to better enforce anti polygamy laws
of the United States, such as the Morrill Anti bigamy Act , Poland Act , Edmunds Act , and the
Edmunds Tucker Act , and keep a closer eye on the Mormons. Being a territory without statehood,
Utah was not subject to such laws of the United States. As later exposed by the Utah War, the U.S.
government was misled towards the events occurring in the Utah Territory. The U.S. could not legally
enforce the laws that outlawed polygamy and unlawful cohabitation because of the territory status of
Utah. (Davis)
In addition to keeping a better watch on the Mormons, becoming a state would allow more and more
Gentiles to settle in Utah and disrupt the overwhelming majority of Mormons. As seen in Nebraska s
admission to the Union (1867), the population increased almost ten times, from 120,000 to just over
1,000,000 in 1890, only 23 years later. (Dalstrom) Congress hoped that by granting statehood to the
mainly Mormon territory of Utah there will be an influx of non Mormons to balance out the
population. Congress turned out to be accurate. Utah s population at

Lais Of Marie De France Literary Analysis
Variations of Romance Elements in The Lais of Marie de France The Lais of Marie de France serves
as a collection of stories that independently convey different romantic tales, each having their own
unique presence that come together to create a successful romantic work of literature. The collection s
tales encompass many aspects that can be found throughout the romance genre as a whole and
represent some of what make romance a diverse and utterly distinctive genre. In her different accounts
of love stories, de France showcases tales that have a range of different themes and common elements
of typical romantic literature, many of which stand as some of the most important and necessary parts
of a successful romance. De France shows multiple sides of the same elements throughout her tales
and in doing so, reveals a variety of commonalities in aspects of romantic works of literature. Through
her different tales, de France utilizes variations of elements such as recognition, infidelity, the
supernatural, and reunion in her lais in order to make a collection ... Show more content on

This element serves as a conflict device for many lovers who are pure of heart but separated by one s
prior vows to someone who doesn t have the capacity for true love and in romance, this device allows
protagonists to overcome obstacles in the form of a spouse. Love serves as the spark that causes the
desire to be free of one s own uncaring or loathsome spouse to become something tangible and action
worthy for characters. In certain instances however, infidelity is also a device which allows for impure
or devious characters to receive their just punishment sufficiently. Infidelity in situations where there
is a satisfactory marriage where there is true care for a spouse, adultery becomes something that can
instead be punished in the name of nobility and

The Iranian Islamic Revolution Ended And The Us
On April 1, 1979 the Iranian Islamic Revolution ended and the US, under the administration of
President Jimmy Carter, begin to reach out to the new effective government in as effort to establish a
new relationship with Iran and as an offer of good will President Carter continued to provide military
support in the hopes that Khomeini and Islamic Iran would reduce their feeling against America. The
gestures did not stop Khomeini from appointing an anti western Islamic theocracy or reducing the
impact of the historical impact the US an UK have had intervening in Iran s internal affairs. After
fleeing Iran, the former Shah traveled extensively looking for political refuge and medical treatment
for the cancer that had progressed severely. While in Mexico, unable to seek treatment by his
physicians in France, due to the unwelcoming stance of their government, the Shah insisted that he be
treated in the US (NY Times, 1981). The Iranian sentiment for the US was still quite tense and bathed
in suspension, but even after the diplomatic mission in Tehran warned Carter several times not to
allow the Shah entry in to the US, the president hesitantly decide to allow the Shah to be treated in the
US and was admitted on October 22, 1979. Surprisingly the US intelligence was not aware of the Shah
s cancer and could not brief the specialist at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center where the
Shah would be diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. The reception of the Shah incenses the people of

Master Of Science Degree Programs
Master of Science Degree Programs
This entry gives a general overview of online Master of Science programs, then specifically examines
programs in high demand and those offered in accelerated formats. Next, the entry focuses on
information students need to succeed in M.S. programs: how to find the right program, and a major
problem that they will likely face during online matriculation.
A Master of Science degree (in Latin, Magister Scientaie) is a postgraduate academic Master s Degree
awarded by universities worldwide. In abbreviated form, the degree may appear on academic
transcripts variously as MSc., M.Sc., M.Sci., M.Si., Sc.M., M.S., MS, AM or SM. After the Master of

The latter option is most common. It involves writing and defending a thesis or completing a research
project which represents the culmination of the material learned.
Admission to a Master s program is normally contingent upon holding a bachelor s degree. Should the
student desire to graduate from a doctoral program, Master s level training is a prerequisite. In some
fields or graduate programs, work on a doctorate can begin as soon as the bachelor s degree is
finished. Some programs offer a joint Bachelor s and Master s degree after four to five years of study.
At the completion of these programs both a B.A. and an M.S. can be awarded.
For thesis projects, students will typically work with an academic adviser to propose a topic, write a
research prospectus and draft a final paper describing the research results. The research process takes
about one year. The thesis is then reviewed by the student s academic committee who must approve
the paper before the student can proceed to graduation. If revisions are needed, graduation could be
delayed for one or more semesters.
Many graduate schools have residency requirements to complete a degree. A student may be required
to spend at least one year living on campus and must accumulate a minimum number of course credits
to be considered eligible for his degree. As online graduate education advanced, this residency
requirement has been adjusted. Matriculation online may

  • 2. Religion Of Islam In America Muslims have been treated horribly throughout the history of the United States. The attacks on September 11, 2001 only further put Muslims in a negative standing with other Americans. Many Americans view all terrorists as Muslims because of the terrorists claiming the religion of Islam for their actions. The attacks put fear into the hearts of all Americans eventually leading to the war on terrorism. With a renewed sense of nationalism many Americans joined the armed forces to take down the terrorist threat. Americans gained strong feelings of resentment towards Muslims due to the terrorist threat. Because of this misunderstanding many Muslims are shunned by American society as a result. Many Muslims due to being shunned stray away and practice their religion in seclusion to avoid scrutiny. • 3. Analysis Of The House Of Mirth By Lara Saltz Selden, in The House of Mirth, is a character that is part of the Elite class, but that doesn t allow the constraints of the elites shadow his vision. In her essay, Lara Saltz argues Selden is able to see real, poetic Lily because he possesses both an acute eye for what is materially in front of him (Saltz 1). She continues on with this thesis, arguing that Selden posses a balance between realism and imagination, that allows him to see the real Lily, during her performance of Sir Joshua Reynold s pain, Mrs Lloyd. Evidence in the novel showing that Selden can see past the illusions of high life, can be seen in Lily realizing that Selden is detached from the social world, the discussion of love between Lily and Selden and Lily s final confrontation of Selden and subsequent death. These three pieces of evidence support Saltz s assertion that Selden can see things for what they really are due to his ability to balance realism and imagination. The first, being Lily s observation that Selden is detached from the social class. The party, being thrown by Mrs. Trenor, is the stage in which Lily discovers that Selden is detached from social class. The entire affair, starts with Lily being asked to help, it seems, to plan the weeding. during this planning, it is discovered that Mrs. Trenor has scheduled the party in conflict with another character s own party. • 4. Factors of Wind Energy Wind Introduction Wind is created by temperature gradients , created by differences in heat received on the surface of the earth as a result of incoming radiation from the Sun. These gradients depend on the angle of the incident sunlight, as well as the characteristics of the terrain and are vital for the formation of specific regional climates. Land and water masses have different heat capacities which lead to an uneven heating of the planet s surface. As there are different temperatures in different regions due to the aforementioned reasons, bulk motion of air molecules is created as the density of air changes with temperature, leading to concentration gradients and pressure gradients. These pressure gradients are what is we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 2: A typical Weibul distribution for wind speeds Source : http://www.wind energy the facts.org/the annual variability of wind speed.html Intermittency The greatest problem for wind power production integration into the electrical grid is intermittency. The wind is variable on different timescales, as turbulent gusts change the hourly production, and climate/temperature fluctuate the daily and sometimes seasonal power contained by the wind. This instability needs regulation and different operational reserves, in order to maintain grid stability and avoid electricity spillage/shortage. Energy Storage Intermittent energy resources can be used in tandem with energy storage systems for better grid stability. The most common technique for energy storage is pumped hydro, which can be used together with wind to store excessive energy and provide it when required. Such cooperative systems increase the overall efficiency and financial viability of such ventures, as the usage of stored energy shifts to displace more expensive means of power production, like fossil fuels. The low maintenance costs of pumped hydro systems and money saving on peak electricity production make them financially appealing even though their starting capital investment is considerable. Environmental Effects Wind has minimal environmental effect as it produces no greenhouse gases. The only production of such gases occurs in the manufacturing stage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Analysis Of Sandra Cisneros s The House On Mango Street Just by looking at the front cover of The House on Mango Street, one could grasp an idea of what the novel is about and how it is presented. It is a story, decorated with colorful detail and authenticity, of a girl adjusting to a new home and growing up. In the introduction to the novel, Cisneros paints a picture of who she had been at the time she had written this novel. Cisneros discusses how as a girl she always wanted to move into a standalone house as opposed to the apartments she had been living in throughout her early childhood. She also mentions her father s role in her life and how they had not often seen eye to eye. Her father had never understood why she wanted to live in a house. He also had wanted Cisneros to marry and have babies, however, at the time she had written this novel, she had been uninterested in that. Meanwhile, she states that she has never had a father or boyfriend beat her when she writes about how privileged her life had been up to that point. This is all reflected in The House on Mango Street. Sandra Cisneros writes in her own unique voice in The House on Mango Street by using unconventional short anecdotes that feature a cast of distinct characters to include aspects of her own life. In the beginning of the introduction, Cisneros describes what she was like when she was a young. Cisneros writes, As a girl, she dreamed of having a silent home, just to herself... (Cisneros xii). The paramedics had arrived. One paramedic was carrying a small black bag. The other had a stethoscope strewn around his neck. The paramedic holding the small black bag leaned down to my face to probe the wound. He immediately reached into his bag and pulled out a large sterilized roll of white gauze, a dark bottle containing disinfectant, a thermometer, and a device that takes blood pressure. While the other paramedic talked to my mom to find out what happened, I could feel the blood pressure cuff tighten around my arm and then, like a balloon, immediately deflate. The plastic tip of the thermometer filled my ear with a beeping sound as it digitally displayed my temperature. The gauze, drowned in disinfectant, swam laps across my cheek. The blood had coagulated and the gash exposed itself in all of its glory. Nearly three inches long, it felt as though my entire face was ripped open. • 12. Impact Of The American Automotive Industry Essay The American automotive industry is a massive force, to say the least. The historical impacts of automotive technology and assembly line manufacturing has effected economies around the world and has also created world wide ecological challenges. Governments, under pressure from environmentalists, have had to realize, create, implement, and constantly refine manufacturing and emission standards. Consumers, who foot the gas bill for vehicles, continue to express their desire for less expensive autos that require less fuel without sacrificing style, comfort, safety, or performance. One cannot discuss the impacts of the American automotive industry without giving due credit to Henry Ford. While Ford did not create the first gas powered car, nor the first assembly line, he did revolutionize both (Voice of America, 2012). He was an accomplished machinist and one day he discovered a gas powered machine called a Silent Otto (Voice of America, 2012). Henry was a self motivated independent learner who relished innovative challenges. As his innovations developed marketable products, Ford insisted on making cars that were affordable for everyone. The improvements he made to assembly line manufacturing streamlined production and kept consumer costs low, even though he had to fight tooth and nail to retain this control. Ford s advancements in mass production lead to foreign expansion in Japan and Western Europe after both World War 1 and World War II (The Automotive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Did Robespierre Influence The French Revolution Robespierre was hinting at a society based on virtue defining the political positon of a person set in a similar society of terror, an early communist like society. But the Convention greatly disagreed with him and agreed that he had begun to go insane with power, similarly to how Napoleon Bonaparte would for the following years militaristically. Consumed by the Revolution, Robespierre is then executed. Starting the war, Robespierre held a firm belief of sovereignty and equality, to form a republic, and was against the death penalty, viewing it as an excessive punishment. But, as the war progresses his ideology begins to change, favoring the use of the guillotine and leading a society of terror. Marat was an extreme radical of the French Revolution. The difference to the others was the fact that he was not part of any political group, but instead a powerful and influential advocator through the press. Through his writing, he called for war against the monarchy, death to any traitors, and declared anyone that did not support the National Assembly was not a true French citizen and labeled a counterrevolutionary. The Similarities Between John Sloan And John Constable John Constable was born the in year 1776, in Suffolk, England, and was raised in the English countryside, which greatly influenced his later career as an artist. Almost one hundred years later, the artist John Sloan was born in 1871, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. His subsequent upbringing in the city of Philadelphia significantly shaped his later career, in a similar fashion to Constable. Both were brought up, not necessarily aspiring to be artists, but each found his passion for painting later in life. Despite having little formal training, they each went on to become one of the most noted artists of their times, each developing a fairly distinct style from the very beginnings their careers. From the start, Constable was more disposed toward landscape painting, mostly scenes of his family s properties that he had grown up on. Socrates certainly felt strongly about his beliefs as he was willing to die for them and eventually did. But was it really worth losing his life over? If so, will examining life make you happier? Life is worth examining, although doing so will not always make people happy. The question then is why is it worth examining? It is simple; the purpose of human beings is to grow to be better, something that cannot be achieved if we do not examine life. Even though we do not know what our purpose in life is, as a whole it can be agreed that humans seek to improve themselves. Thinking back to human ancestral species the Homo erectus it is understood that they did not simply accept the world for what was in front of them. Rather, when opportunity for discovery was presented to them they set forth to it. For example, when early hominin species discovered fire they did not simply walk away and accept the fact that it was a part of nature and should therefore be left to be. Instead they questioned this aspect of nature and through further examination were able to tame fire, an element that has long been credited for the rise of human species. Republicans stated that it was Congress duty ...to prohibit in the Territories those twin relics of barbarism Polygamy, and Slavery. (Republican Platform of 1856) By granting Utah statehood, the U.S. Government would be able to better enforce anti polygamy laws of the United States, such as the Morrill Anti bigamy Act , Poland Act , Edmunds Act , and the Edmunds Tucker Act , and keep a closer eye on the Mormons. Being a territory without statehood, Utah was not subject to such laws of the United States. As seen in Nebraska s admission to the Union (1867), the population increased almost ten times, from 120,000 to just over 1,000,000 in 1890, only 23 years later.
