What is ORGANIZATION?
Organization is the structural framework for
writing.
Provides readers with a framework to help them
fulfill their expectations for the text.
Makes it easy for readers to follow the text.
Logical progression and completeness of ideas in
a text.
INTRODUCTION
BODY
CONCLUSION
INVERTED
PYRAMID
INTRODUCTION
Comes from the Latin verb
introducere, meaning “to lead in”
INTRODUCTION
Serves as “road map” to the readers.
Leads the reader from the general area to a particular
topic of inquiry.
Establishes the scope, context, and significance of the
text.
HOW TO WRITE AN INTRODUCTION
PURPOSES:
Get the reader interested in your paper.
Tell the reader what you are writing about.
The introduction may explain why the topic is relevant
or why you have written the paper.
HOW TO DRAW ATTENTION OF READER
Start with a quote that is related to your topic.
Start with a short story or anecdote related to your topic.
Pull important phrases of your work and use it as a quote
to get you started.
BODY
 This is where the elaboration of your introduction takes place.
5 Basic Organizational Structures

3. Cause and effect
4. Compare and contrast
5. Problem and solution
CONCLUSION
Restate or recap your main points and your thesis
statement.
Show how you have proven your position.
Must be done with conviction
Must not introduce new ideas that were not covered in
your paper.

Part 2 unit 1 lesson 1 organization

  • 2. What is ORGANIZATION? Organization is the structural framework for writing. Provides readers with a framework to help them fulfill their expectations for the text. Makes it easy for readers to follow the text. Logical progression and completeness of ideas in a text.
  • 4. INTRODUCTION Comes from the Latin verb introducere, meaning “to lead in”
  • 5. INTRODUCTION Serves as “road map” to the readers. Leads the reader from the general area to a particular topic of inquiry. Establishes the scope, context, and significance of the text.
  • 6. HOW TO WRITE AN INTRODUCTION PURPOSES: Get the reader interested in your paper. Tell the reader what you are writing about. The introduction may explain why the topic is relevant or why you have written the paper.
  • 7. HOW TO DRAW ATTENTION OF READER Start with a quote that is related to your topic. Start with a short story or anecdote related to your topic. Pull important phrases of your work and use it as a quote to get you started.
  • 8. BODY  This is where the elaboration of your introduction takes place.
  • 9. 5 Basic Organizational Structures 1. Sequence 2. Description 3. Cause and effect 4. Compare and contrast 5. Problem and solution
  • 10. CONCLUSION Restate or recap your main points and your thesis statement. Show how you have proven your position. Must be done with conviction Must not introduce new ideas that were not covered in your paper.
