The Games And Its Impact On Our Childhood
Many of us have had some sort of gaming in our childhood. It s why we are who we are and why we
play the games we play now, and I assume why you are here reading a gaming article.
ChuckleFish s latest game Stardew Valley has taken the Nostalgia Train and taken a lot of players
back to their roots of Sandbox games, Harvest Moon. Almost everyone I ve talked to about this game
has at least played some sort of Harvest Moon game being that there have been loads that have come
out and still consistently are being released even to this day. However, Stardew Valley has taken us
back to the SNES Graphics style and really delivered a Harvest Moon of Today in terms of gameplay.
After around 50 hours of Gametime, I have lost myself in this simplistic yet addicting style of
gameplay. Every morning I wake up, step out of bed, walk out the door into the vast open world of my
farm. I start out the average morning watering crops doing the mundane stuff. I ll clean up the yard
should a pine tree step out of its invisible bounds that I ve placed that Mother Nature cannot seem to
see, nor understand. However, I can use the extra wood and sap for crafting. Stardew Valley boasts a
comprehensive crafting system. It fails in depth to Minecraft, though there is a lot to be made, and will
make life on the farm a whole lot easier. After my work is finished on the farm, I make my way into
town and do my rounds, pick up some seeds drop off a present to the lovely Leah.
Oddly, I have noticed

The Pros And Cons Of Inmate Re-Incarceration In Prison
SUMMARY: Many inmates are incarcerated in prison for years and sometimes decades, then released
back into society with little education or training. Studies have found that 19 percent of inmates are
entirely illiterate, and 75 percent are functionally illiterate and read at a 4th grade level. Therefore,
without education, vocational training, or the ability to secure employment, many formerly
incarcerated people maladapt to society and return to crime and prison. Thus, a vicious cycle of re
incarceration called inmate recidivism is created. With all the positive outcomes of inmate education,
which include reduced recidivism rates and safer communities, my policy memo addresses why
Congress should consider reinstating Pell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feasibility: currently happening, so Federal Government finds this feasible, though LCTC, Supports
increases in crime, unsafe communities, high incarceration rates and fosters a need for more prisons,

Alternative ll: State Funded Pell grants for Inmate Education Effectiveness: Based on Federal Pell
grant outcomes the creation of individual State funded Pell grant program would assist in large
numbers of inmates gaining access to education, job attainment and, reduce recidivism. Feasibility:
Due to today s political climate may be problematic in getting State Funds allocation passed through
the state legislature. However, this alternative due to positive cost benefits and inmate outcomes
should be highly considered in lieu of federal Pell grant reinstatement, as creation of State Pell grant
type of PEP funding would allow the greatest number of inmate s access to post secondary education

Geography Of China Research Paper
People s Republic of China is not only a country with five thousand years history, but with various
geographic physical features as well. As the third biggest country in the world, with an area of about
9,600,000 km2 (3,700,000 sq mi), China stretches five time zones in East Asian landmass with more
than 1.35 billion inhabitants. Generally, China is high in the west and descends to the east, devided
into three stages, so most rivers flow west east. In this paper, we experience the different environment,
weather, how people affect environment, and political geography through traveling.

This is where grasses begin to shorten, and desert shrubs become evident. Studies show that the
precipitation is pretty low, ranging from 1.5 inches(38mm) per year in the west to 0.4 inch (10mm)
annually in the east. (Petrov) There are two main reasons cause this area aridity. First, within the
latitude of the Tropic of Cancer, it receives much sun radiation, so the air is heated and rise.
Approaching the mid latitude around 39° N, air descends, and subtropical high pressure belt results.
That is to say, high pressure brings considerable sunshine, hot summer weather, and very little
precipination. The great desert of the world, such as Sahara, Kalahari, and Great Victory Desert, are
distributing around subtropical high belts. In the Northern Hemisphere, wind veers toward the right of

Opening Sequences Of The Odyssey And The Penelopiad
Each differing language characteristics can been seen in the opening sequences of The Odyssey and
The Penelopiad. The opening sequence of The Odyssey begins with Homer making a plea to the
Muses to help him compose his epic of Odysseus. Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and
turns driven time and again off course, once he had plundered the hallowed heights of Troy. Many
cities of men he saw and learned their minds, many pains he suffered, heartsick on the open sea,
fighting to save his life and bring his comrades home. But he could not save them from disaster, hard
as he strove the recklessness of their own ways destroyed them all, the blind fools, they devoured the
cattle of the Sun and the Sungod wiped from sight the day of their ... Show more content on

Where shall I begin? There are only two choices: at the beginning or not at the beginning. The real
beginning would be the beginning of the world, after which one thing has led to another; but since
there are differences of opinion about that, I ll begin with my own birth. My father was Kin Icarius of
Sparta. My mother was a Naiad. Daughters of naiads were a dime in a dozen in those days; the place
was crawling with them (Atwood, 33). Here Penelope s dialogue is very much like that of how we
speak in today s society. It s quite evident that Penelope is indifferent to the beginning of the world
and we begin to get a glimpse of her dislike for the gods, demi gods, and nymphs. Atwood decides to
take Penelope s opening monologue in a very different approach than that of Homer s. Her use of
everyday speech and un poetic way of describing the gods through Penelope s voice, helps the readers
identify themselves with Penelope and sympathize with her. Atwood choose to use a form of language
that helps the readers to be able to identify with her characters in her work of fiction, whereas Homer
used his epic to establish a distance between the readers and his characters of the stories

required signed petitions to get the issue back on the ballot. Fifty eight percent of the people in
Nebraska oppose the death penalty and only thirty percent support it (Balko 1). Nebraska currently has
ten death row inmates (Balko 1). They are waiting anxiously for the results if they have to be executed
or if they can have life in prison.
The two most common ways of execution is lethal injection and the electric chair. The electric chair is
much more painful because it feels like you are getting electrocuted. It also takes longer for the person
to die. At the end of the nineteenth century electricity started to become more effective. For more than
a century the lethal effects of electric current was interesting researchers. Benjamin Franklin

A Lecture On International Sustainable Tourism
Triple Bottom Line
During a lecture in International Sustainable Tourism, we discussed the Triple Bottom Line or Triple
Bottom Line Reporting, which means expanding the traditional reporting framework to take into
account environmental and social performance in addition to financial performance. This framework
is becoming an accepted approach for organizations to demonstrate they have strategies for
Sustainable Growth. It focuses on decision making and reporting, which explicitly considers an
organization s economic, environmental and social performance. Triple Bottom Line focuses on
Stakeholders instead of Shareholders. A Stakeholder is a person, group, or organization who has an
interest or concern in an organization. In this essay, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means that there is technically a Social Environmental pillar which relates to Environmental
Justice, Natural Resources Stewardship, and Acting Locally, Thinking Globally; A Environmental
Economic pillar which highlights Energy Efficiency, Subsidies, and Incentives for use of Natural
Resources, and finally an Economic Social pillar which deals with Business Ethics, Fair Trade and
Workers Rights. Right smack dab in the middle of the circle graph is Sustainability. When all three
pillars are in play, Sustainability happens.
Moving on, there are three set goal principals for the Triple Bottom Line and they all three relate back
to the three pillars. The goal for the Social pillar is to have Vibrant Communities, where an
organization has a responsibility to its employees and to the wider community in which it works. The
company understands how its practice affects the workers and strives to promote their best interests.
The goal for the Environmental pillar is a Healthy Environment by reducing the environmental
footprint. Finally, the goal for the Economic pillar is Profit. The Triple Bottom line recognizes that
business sustainability rests on social and environmental settings. The cost of pollution, worker
displaces, and other factors and is included into a profit calculation.
When it comes to the mechanics of the Triple Bottom Line, there is no universal standard to calculate
the Triple Bottom Line, and the

LSD is sometimes mixed with another hallucinogen, phencyclidine, or PCP. As it can be produced
with a fairly simple process, PCP labs have sprung up in many areas and can be hard to detect.
CLUB DRUGS
Another category of drugs that forensic scientists have to test for and identify is club drugs. Club
drugs are synthetic drugs that are typically used in bars, nightclubs, raves, and other gatherings. Some
of these drugs have become popular in these settings because they are thought to enhance or improve
the experience, although they also have side effects and dangers. Many of these drugs are used
primarily by teens and young adults.
The settings of raves and nightclubs also support the use of these drugs. Their small, often tablet form
make the drugs easy to conceal, and with so many people dancing and moving, individuals who take
the drugs are often not as noticeable as they might be in another setting even when experiencing the
effects of the drug.
Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), or Ecstasy, as it is more commonly known, is one of the
most popular club drugs. Originally patented as an appetite suppressant, this synthetic drug produces
feelings of happiness as well as hallucinations. Chronic use of the drug has serious effects on the body,
including kidney failure, stroke, and seizures.
Another drug found in the club scene that produces feelings of happiness and hallucinations is
ketamine (also known as Vitamin K or Special K), which is also used as an

Czech Republic s Problem Of Poverty
In terms of poverty, Table 2 shows the percentage of the population in Czech Republic compare with
the world from 2006 to 2012 who live on less than $1.90 a day. From 2006 to 2012, Czech Republic s
poverty headcount ratio at $1.90 a day has been nearly 0% of population compare to nearly 15% of
world population. Not only Czech Republic has a low ratio of poverty headcount at $1.90 a day, but
also has the percentage of population living under the at risk of poverty threshold lower than an
average of 27 European countries. In Table 3 provides the percentage of population living under the at
risk of poverty threshold which set at 60 percent of national median income after social transfer. It
shows that from 2005 to 2014 Czech Republic s percentage of population living under the at risk of
poverty is fluctuated between 8 10%. Furthermore, inequality of income distribution ratio in Table 4,
which indicates total disposable income ratio received by the 20% of the population with the highest
income to that received by the 20% of the population with the lowest income (Eurostat, 2016a), shows
stable rate of inequality around 3.5% since 2005. Gini index is the measurement of inequality level in
family income distribution in a country, range from 0 100 which the lower of Gini index means the
more equal of income distribution (CIA, no date). Hence, from Table 5, Czech Republic has low level
of GINI index with decreased from 27.5 in 2004 to 26.1 in 2012. Apart from income indicator,

accountability movement in education has resulted in increased pressure on HR personnel to
incentivize teachers. Over the last two centuries research shows varying degrees of initiation of merit

teachers for student achievement. Gratz ( 2005) discusses merit pay and performance pay being used

They also looked at traditional public schools, charter, private and nonreligious regular schools to
identify if the use of a traditional salary schedule was prevalent. Over 90% of traditional schools use
some form of schedule versus charter 62.2%, private 65.9%, and nonreligious regular schools 45.1%.
Summarizing Podursky et. al. (2007), it was concluded from the data ranging from 1999 2000 that
private and charter schools had a significantly higher use of performance pay bonuses. It is clarified
that because these studies were short lived the overall determinations of effectiveness lie within
motivation and not in sorting of teachers effectiveness. Podursky et. al. (2007) discussed the
comparison of teacher performance on evaluations conducted by the principal to student achievement.
It was concluded, Research literature to date and particularly the recent work by Jacobs and Lefgren
show that subjective evaluations of teacher performance are valid measures of teacher effectiveness as
measured by student achievement gains. (p. 562). Principal evaluations reflecting low stakes were
used to acquire these results. The question still remains if these types of evaluations will continue to
be of value in a merit based system. Also would a principal who would normally give a teacher a
lower performance score, under regular circumstances non high stakes evaluations, do the same if it

The Bad Beginning Or Orphans Essay
The bad beginning or Orphans is a book about protecting properties and the genre of this novel is
mystery, adventure, and family. The main character of this novel are three children whose name are
Baudelaire Violet, Baudelaire Klaus, and Baudelaire Sunny. Violet is an older sister, she likes to skip
rocks. Klaus is a middle child, he is extremely smart and he always goes to the library for reading
books. Sunny is the youngest child, who likes to bite things. At the beginning, their parents die
because of an unexpected fire. Therefore, they went to a man called Count Olaf s house. Count Olaf is
a stage actor, and a distant relatives of the children. Count Olaf is a horrible person, he always planned

The first weakness is some of the actions that is in the book is not really truthful. For example, in
chapter 10, Violet just used a simple invention and climbed up to the tall tower, the most difficult part
is to hook to the tower, and I think the hook is not strong enough to carry a person. The second
weakness is the story may not fit the readers that are above 25 years old because the book is too easy
for them, they might feel boring when they are reading this book. In this book, everything seems
perfect, however, I believe the book still have some parts that did not work really well in the book. For
example, the way that Count Olaf escape is like action movie s segment, I think it does not suit this
book. The book could be done better at make the story more realistic because even though the story is
not real, but the main idea of the novel is not science fiction or action fiction. Next, the novel did not
explain some details such as why Count Olaf s house has many eye drawing and why Count Olaf s

unauthorized material to prepare for her Intro to Politics midterm exam and was not honest in her

Lucy obtained the midterm exam from the photocopying machine. The definition of obtain in the

possession of the test when she picked it up from the photocopy machine. This fact shows that Lucy

Where Worlds Collide By Robert Lake Summary
James G. Peoples, an author said, Culture affects our views of reality. It provides the mental concepts
by which people perceive, interpret, analyze, and explain events in the world around them (notable

A Career As A Chemical Engineer At Texas A M
Chemistry is the science that studies all properties of matter. Chemistry is an immense subject that
exists everywhere in the world, from chemical compounds in the human body to detergents used in

High School I dreamt with becoming a chemical engineer in the near future. Being a chemical
engineer is not just about knowing chemistry, but also implementing the engineering principles to
mass produce products, and share them with consumers. Correspondingly, a chemical engineer utilizes
the principles of chemistry in order to solve problems that involve the production in large scales of

Cleft Lip And Palate Essay
Cleft lip and/or palate are facial and oral malformations that develop during the 1st trimester in
pregnancy. There are three possible conditions that can occur alone or even as part of a genetic
condition or syndrome. These include cleft lip, cleft palate, and cleft lip with palate. The diagnosis of
this condition is sometimes extremely different for parents to hear and the implications of how the
parents react can sometimes negatively affect how the baby develops. The research behind this article
places the importance on the father s role of development and how they cope with diagnosis since
mother s are normally the focus. The purpose of this article is to study the impact of the timing of
diagnosis (prenatal vs. postnatal) of cleft lip and/or palate and how this corresponds with how fathers
emotionally attach themselves to their infants. Parents who receive this diagnosis might influence their
child s psychological functioning and this study discusses major similar themes that emerge with each
family. Identifying which timing of diagnosis is better for parents will allow for a brighter future for a
baby born with cleft. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Matthew Brooks Treacy And The Relationship...
In this essay I will be comparing She, by Matthew Brooks Treacy and the relationship with his mother
to my relationship with my father, and the lessons taught through experiences that occurred. My father
taught the concept of moral obligation, in a similar fashion to Traecy s mother teaching him to use his
hands, through errands, that influenced my decision to make ethical decisions throughout my life. First
off, moral obligation, in this essay, can be defined as an obligation to act in good faith because it lies
within your personal values. In other words, it can be your reasoning for making a morally right
decision. Treacy s mother greatly influenced him and the way he makes decision throughout his life.
He recalls his mother saying, If you go a day without using your hands, you die (39). He calls this ..a
principle that influences the way I do things (39). Furthermore, he goes on to explain that his mother
..always used her hands (39). You can notice the significance of using hands in the family. It was a
lesson deeply engrained in Treacy. A lesson he will always remember through his mother. After all,
our parents are responsible for teaching us some of our greatest lessons. Indeed, my father is
responsible teaching me an excellent lesson that still holds strong to my beliefs today. I absolutely
hated the process, which was a childhood filled with chores, but in the end, the chores weren t so bad
and believe it or not I was eventually doing them without being

Chinese Culture And Western Culture In Child Rearing
Introduction
Culture is a set of values that are ingrained in human beings from birth. They define our actions, our
view of what is good, fair, and just, and shape the way we live our lives. The definition of cross
cultural values and beliefs is that of where people from different countries or regions interact, bringing
their different values, viewpoints, and practices unique to their culture (Dictionary, 2017). In this
literature review, we will analyze the differences between Chinese and Western culture in child
rearing, with a focus on the impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts,
how children accommodate or resist those socialization efforts, and finally, we will discuss the
implications for parents and teachers.
Socializing behavior is defined as behavior enacted towards children, or in the presence of children, to
induce or shape their behavior or understanding of behavior (LeCuyer Zhang, 2015).
The impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts
The Chinese culture is known for its collectivism with focus on group success over personal success,
and hierarchal authority where children are expected to obey parents, teachers, and other authorities in
power. This style is characterized by attempts to shape and control the child according to absolute
standards, with a high value of obedience to authoritative figures (Lieber, Fung, Wing Leung Leung,
2006). Chinese people, in general, are more willing to

What is the history of Chinatown? What is the history of Chinatown and its residents?
Why did Chinese people come to live in Australia?

Critical Analysis Of Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
Extremely Loud Incredibly Close is a 2005 book by Jonathan Safran Foer about a young boy dealing
with the death of his father in the attacks on September 11, 2001. A critical analysis of the firebombing
of Dresden and how it connects and grows the main themes of the novel will be stated forthwith.
Oskar Schell was nine years old when his father was tragically taken from him by two jetliners flown
by terrorists. This was especially unfortunate for him as his father seemed to be the only person that
fully understood how Oskar s Aspergers affected him and could use that to keep Oskar in a state of
growth. Thomas Schell, Oskar s father, would assign Oskar reconnaissance missions in which the
young boy had to converse with strangers and do other tasks in order to grow his social skills and get
him out of his shell. This was the point at which the class noticed that Oskar s father seemed to be
such a great father to make up for the fact that his own father was absent for his entire life. This moves
onto the analysis of Thomas Schell Sr. Thomas Schell Sr. lived in Dresden Germany as a child and
was raised there. As a young boy, Thomas was full of hope, love, and emotion. Today, the city of
Dresden represents a devastation incendiary bombing by the allies near the end of the second world
war. Thomas lived through this bombing and lost the love of his life as well as his unborn child. The
young man was hunkering down in a cellar attempting to shelter from the burning when he realized
that Anna, his lover, was missing. Insisting on going back out despite his parent s wishes, Thomas
went headstrong into the inferno. After the bombing, Dresden was encompassed by a firestorm
blowing air heated to hundreds of degrees fahrenheit at hurricane speeds. This brings to mind the
devastating dust cloud that touched down in NYC after the WTC attacks. This moves onto the next
chronological analysis. There are quite a few striking similarities in Oskar s and Thomas situation and
this helps to strengthen and connect Foer s novel. Oskar and Thomas both experienced extreme loss at
a relatively young age. Thomas went through the death of his lover and unborn child, while Oskar
experienced the death of the only man

The Pearl Meaning
Enchanting. Glossy. A radiant angelic white. These are the words that could be used to describe at first
a giant pearl called the Pearl of the World that a Native Mexican man named Kino found. But as the
story progresses, those adjectives changed dramatically as Kino first sees an innocent pearl that will
save his family from poverty into Being blinded by hopefulness prevents Kino from seeing the
unbearable truth until its consequences overwhelmed him. Kino is pushed through trial after trial,
holding onto the tiniest milligram of hope to search for an impossible result to happen to him and his
family. But Kino had become as deadly as steel. Deliberately he threw the lever of the rifle, and then
he raised the gun and aimed deliberately and fired (87). Kino was willing to kill three men to protect

attempted theft of the pearl shows that even Kino s closest family member cares for him enough to try
to throw the pearl away to keep Kino from suffering its unknown consequences. It is the pearl, said
Juan Tomas. There is a devil in this pearl. You should have sold it and passed on the devil. Perhaps
you can still sell it and buy peace for yourself (65). Juan Tomas worries for his brother and his family
s safety so he advises Kino to sell it cheaply to have peace again. Kino s own brother warned him
about the pearl s dangers even though is Kino did become rich, he would have given some of the
money to Juan Tomas which meant that Juan Tomas was sincerely scared for Kino about the pearl s

Comparing the Search in Plato s Allegory of the Cave and...
The Search for Truth in Plato s Allegory of the Cave and Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio
The novel Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson has many themes that present themselves
throughout the book. One such recurring theme is a search for truth. The characters in the book do not
fully realize that they are searching for truth, but they do feel a vague, indescribable thing that pushes
and prods their minds to actualize a higher plane of thought. This search for a higher plane by the
characters of Winesburg nearly parallels another literary work of ancient Greek origin Plato s Allegory
of the Cave, which is a portion of his famous writing The Republic. I contend that the town of
Winesburg is the equivalent of the Cave in Plato s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Life for the prisoners goes on this way without occurrence until one of them is freed, led up outside
the cave, and shown the real world. The freed person will realize that the truth of the shadowed reality
is actually a falsehood. After this realization the person who visited the upper world is returned to
imprisonment in the cave. Her eyes have to adjust to the darkness of the cave once again. However,
this adjustment naturally takes a long time. As a result, the once free person can no longer see the
shadows as well as she did before her release into the upper world. To the people who have remained
in the cave, it seems as though going into the upper world has destroyed her faculty for seeing reality.
Some of the captives then say that trying to reach the outer world is harmful, and that anyone caught
trying to loose themselves or another person for the purpose of reaching the outside will be punished.
Plato says that the cave symbolizes the world of sight and the outside represents the world of
knowledge. Plato also instructs people to interpret the journey upwards to be the ascent of the soul
into the intellectual world. Plato s belief is that in the world of knowledge the idea of good appears,
and that humans should strive to reach this goodness through philosophical thought.
The connection between Winesburg, Ohio and the Allegory of the Cave presents itself in the very first
passage, The Book of the Grotesque. In this first

this community in Bushwick have proven themselves to be not responsible enough to carry arms due

The Earth’s Nuclear Core Essay
The Earth s Nuclear Core
The Earth s core is like a massive nuclear reactor, burning uranium into lighter elements, and
producing much of the geological phenomenon observed on the Earth. This fission reactor is
responsible for producing most of the Earth s heat and energy, as well as, the phenomenon of
geomagnetism. There is substantial reason to believe that the center of the Earth is a massive nuclear
reactor derived from empirical data observed in the earth, and logical evidence to prove that the theory
is true.
The theory started when geologists in the fifties began whether natural occurring nuclear fission was
possible. Eventually, empirical evidence presented itself. In 1972 at the Oklo uranium mine in western

In the case of the Earth, the reactions in question are fueled by the element uranium 235, and uranium
238. Uranium is the heaviest naturally occurring element on Earth and it is common in fission
reactions. Early in the Earth s formation, numerous elemental changes were taking place. Some
elements would combine with other elements to become stable. In the case of the newly formed Earth,
many elements looked for oxygen to become stable. However, early in the formation of the earth there
was little oxygen present. That meant that elements that combine with oxygen, such as uranium and
magnesium, would have no where to go, but into the Earth s core. It is estimated that from this
process, about 64 percent of the earth s uranium actually sank to the Earth s center. If these elements
were abundant enough and were allowed to gather over a long period of time they would be able to
initiate their own self sustaining fission reactions.
Much of what is known about the Earth s nuclear core can be learned from logical, mathematical
reasoning. A great deal is understood about radioactive decay, and fission so with basic knowledge of
the elemental pieces of the theory it is not difficult to make accurate estimates and predictions about
the quantity, and commonality of these processes in the earth. Today the core of the Earth would be an
estimated five miles in diameter.

The purpose of this company analysis is to discover why one company would be better to invest in

these two companies compare in products and services, they do not relate in overall size. To assist in
making an educating decision, many areas of each company were looked at. A comprehensive
financial ratio analysis was completed for each company, as well as an evaluation of their strengths,
weaknesses and future opportunities. While it is important to consider how a company manages its
finances, it is equally important to consider its future prospects as well. Below you will find a brief

look at Raytheon s financial position, the data from a financial ratio analysis can be viewed. To
compare both Raytheon and Northrop Grumman, a financial ratio analysis was constructed for the two
companies. There were 19 total ratios and other financial factor utilized to compare both companies.
Out of all 19, Raytheon was able to best Northrop Grumman in 11. Some of the bigger areas that are
of concern are: current ratio, debt to asset ratio, times interest earned ratio, gross profit rate, and asset
turnover ratio. This is a good accomplishment for a company that sees s much smaller revenues than
many of its competitors. Although the company has much going for it, there are still some concerns
that should be taken into consideration. As mentioned above, the company does see smaller revenues
than many of its competitors. This lower generation of revenues could end up putting the company at
a disadvantage in such a competitive market. Raytheon s size could also lead to a reduction in
bargaining power against its competition (DATAMONITOR). Another weakness is the company s
dependence on government contracts. Since these contracts are

How advanced was the Anasazi culture in the southwestern regions of North America?
Most Amerindian people lived by hunting or food gathering west of the Mississippi River basin.
Agriculture knowledge spread up the rivers to the Great Plains during the first millennium C.E.
Farming was practiced far west. The Anasazi culture was really advanced in the southwestern regions
of North America. An agricultural community was established by the Anasazi people from northern
New Mexico and Arizona southwestern Colorado and southern Utah. They never discovered the wheel

The Impact Of Digital Technology On The Creation Of...
Henry Jenkins describes convergence as a situation where multiple media systems coexist and where
media content flows fluidly across them (2006: 282). An important part of the information transferred
across platforms are the techniques utilised in creation. Digital technologies have no doubt had a large
impact on moving images and how they are developed and produced in the modern world. There has
been the introduction of inexpensive consumer digital recording devices, and the ability to create a
video with mobile phones rather than needing a separate dedicated device. This has led to growth in
the creation of amateur moving images on platforms such as YouTube in a variety of forms. As well as
inspiring the creation of new areas of production, digital advances have enabled further evolution in
more traditional areas. Early cinematic pioneers dabbled with in camera trickery in order to create
fantastical scenes and amaze viewers, and this principle carries forward to today. Matt Reeve s Dawn
of the Planet of the Apes (2014) is a good example of the intriguing applications of digital technology
in order to achieve these old goals in a potentially better way. As with the introduction of any new way
to achieve a goal, the opportunities available to content creators have multiplied with the growth in the
variety of digital techniques. The power particular innovations in technology can have in their
contribution is perhaps underlined by the impact they have had in less revered

Syria Is The Heart Of The Middle East
Syria is located in Southwest Asia. According to National Geographic Syria is considered to be the
heart of the Middle East because of its borders. Syria borders Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Turkey,
Cyprus, but most importantly the Mediterranean Sea. Even though, the relationship between Russia
and Syria wasn t the best throughout the years it has become important. Syria has become an
important ally to Russia. Russia and Syria s relationship can be best described as a strategic plan. It
can be viewed as a strategic plan due to Russia s main concerns or interests toward Syria s weapons,
trade, natural resources and the access to the Mediterranean Sea. The Syrian Civil War is a war fought
to bring an end to the Authoritarian practices performed from the Assad family (Sharwood, pg. 1).
From 1971 to 2000 Hafez al Assad was President of Syria. Following the reign of Hafez al Assad his
son Bashar al Assad became President of Syria. Throughout the reign of his father violence was used
to suppress protests. This included the excessive use of police, military and paramilitary forces.
Therefore, these practices have served as a guide to solving problems. It is stated, The malign but
tactically brilliant Hafez al Assad blighted the Middle East with disproportionate Syrian influence for
decades. His son, the feckless Bashar, has continued this pattern since 2000 by sending terrorists to

Consumer behaviours have changed over the years; this is shown by consumers today purchasing a

more knowledgeable as well as manufacturers having by law to print the ingredients and content of

And also in some cases going to the extreme in stating that parents are slowly killing their children
with feeding them specific foods. This is a huge factor that has brought about changes in the way
consumers purchase and behaviour. Other factors are current events, such as when the 9/11 incident
occurred; a lot of patriotic Americans bought and consumed American made products to help the
American economy grow. The American government also put out campaigns to promote American
produced and made products to the public to change the views of consumer purchases. Just another
example of factors that support change in consumer behaviours.
Governments and consumer groups control or filter what information is known about certain products.
The Australian consumers association or ACA produces a magazine that informs consumers about
their rights and about the value and safety of products. The government on the other hand works in
conjunction with the health department to reveal the real truths about products, such as the smoking
campaign, that informs us of what really is in a cigarette and how much damage it is doing to your
body. These groups play a vital role in educating the consumers about certain truths that need to be

  • 2. The Games And Its Impact On Our Childhood Many of us have had some sort of gaming in our childhood. It s why we are who we are and why we play the games we play now, and I assume why you are here reading a gaming article. ChuckleFish s latest game Stardew Valley has taken the Nostalgia Train and taken a lot of players back to their roots of Sandbox games, Harvest Moon. Almost everyone I ve talked to about this game has at least played some sort of Harvest Moon game being that there have been loads that have come out and still consistently are being released even to this day. However, Stardew Valley has taken us back to the SNES Graphics style and really delivered a Harvest Moon of Today in terms of gameplay. After around 50 hours of Gametime, I have lost myself in this simplistic yet addicting style of gameplay. Every morning I wake up, step out of bed, walk out the door into the vast open world of my farm. I start out the average morning watering crops doing the mundane stuff. I ll clean up the yard should a pine tree step out of its invisible bounds that I ve placed that Mother Nature cannot seem to see, nor understand. However, I can use the extra wood and sap for crafting. Stardew Valley boasts a comprehensive crafting system. It fails in depth to Minecraft, though there is a lot to be made, and will make life on the farm a whole lot easier. After my work is finished on the farm, I make my way into town and do my rounds, pick up some seeds drop off a present to the lovely Leah. Oddly, I have noticed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Inmate Re-Incarceration In Prison SUMMARY: Many inmates are incarcerated in prison for years and sometimes decades, then released back into society with little education or training. Studies have found that 19 percent of inmates are entirely illiterate, and 75 percent are functionally illiterate and read at a 4th grade level. Therefore, without education, vocational training, or the ability to secure employment, many formerly incarcerated people maladapt to society and return to crime and prison. Thus, a vicious cycle of re incarceration called inmate recidivism is created. With all the positive outcomes of inmate education, which include reduced recidivism rates and safer communities, my policy memo addresses why Congress should consider reinstating Pell ... Feasibility: currently happening, so Federal Government finds this feasible, though LCTC, Supports increases in crime, unsafe communities, high incarceration rates and fosters a need for more prisons, prison personnel, and more police in unsafe communities. Alternative ll: State Funded Pell grants for Inmate Education Effectiveness: Based on Federal Pell grant outcomes the creation of individual State funded Pell grant program would assist in large numbers of inmates gaining access to education, job attainment and, reduce recidivism. Feasibility: Due to today s political climate may be problematic in getting State Funds allocation passed through the state legislature. However, this alternative due to positive cost benefits and inmate outcomes should be highly considered in lieu of federal Pell grant reinstatement, as creation of State Pell grant type of PEP funding would allow the greatest number of inmate s access to post secondary education and vocational ... As the third biggest country in the world, with an area of about 9,600,000 km2 (3,700,000 sq mi), China stretches five time zones in East Asian landmass with more than 1.35 billion inhabitants. Generally, China is high in the west and descends to the east, devided into three stages, so most rivers flow west east. In this paper, we experience the different environment, weather, how people affect environment, and political geography through traveling. Starting our journey from the first stage of China, Tibet, where the average elevation is 4,000m above sea level. There lies the tallest mountains in the world, known as the Roof of the ... Studies show that the precipitation is pretty low, ranging from 1.5 inches(38mm) per year in the west to 0.4 inch (10mm) annually in the east. (Petrov) There are two main reasons cause this area aridity. First, within the latitude of the Tropic of Cancer, it receives much sun radiation, so the air is heated and rise. Approaching the mid latitude around 39° N, air descends, and subtropical high pressure belt results. That is to say, high pressure brings considerable sunshine, hot summer weather, and very little precipination. The great desert of the world, such as Sahara, Kalahari, and Great Victory Desert, are distributing around subtropical high belts. In the Northern Hemisphere, wind veers toward the right of the direction of travel, which is the Coriolis effect. These prevailing winds blow from the west to the east called westerlies. • 5. Opening Sequences Of The Odyssey And The Penelopiad Each differing language characteristics can been seen in the opening sequences of The Odyssey and The Penelopiad. The opening sequence of The Odyssey begins with Homer making a plea to the Muses to help him compose his epic of Odysseus. Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns driven time and again off course, once he had plundered the hallowed heights of Troy. Many cities of men he saw and learned their minds, many pains he suffered, heartsick on the open sea, fighting to save his life and bring his comrades home. But he could not save them from disaster, hard as he strove the recklessness of their own ways destroyed them all, the blind fools, they devoured the cattle of the Sun and the Sungod wiped from sight the day of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Where shall I begin? There are only two choices: at the beginning or not at the beginning. The real beginning would be the beginning of the world, after which one thing has led to another; but since there are differences of opinion about that, I ll begin with my own birth. My father was Kin Icarius of Sparta. My mother was a Naiad. Daughters of naiads were a dime in a dozen in those days; the place was crawling with them (Atwood, 33). Here Penelope s dialogue is very much like that of how we speak in today s society. It s quite evident that Penelope is indifferent to the beginning of the world and we begin to get a glimpse of her dislike for the gods, demi gods, and nymphs. Atwood decides to take Penelope s opening monologue in a very different approach than that of Homer s. Her use of everyday speech and un poetic way of describing the gods through Penelope s voice, helps the readers identify themselves with Penelope and sympathize with her. Atwood choose to use a form of language that helps the readers to be able to identify with her characters in her work of fiction, whereas Homer used his epic to establish a distance between the readers and his characters of the stories ... Fifty eight percent of the people in Nebraska oppose the death penalty and only thirty percent support it (Balko 1). Nebraska currently has ten death row inmates (Balko 1). They are waiting anxiously for the results if they have to be executed or if they can have life in prison. The two most common ways of execution is lethal injection and the electric chair. The electric chair is much more painful because it feels like you are getting electrocuted. It also takes longer for the person to die. A Lecture On International Sustainable Tourism Triple Bottom Line During a lecture in International Sustainable Tourism, we discussed the Triple Bottom Line or Triple Bottom Line Reporting, which means expanding the traditional reporting framework to take into account environmental and social performance in addition to financial performance. This framework is becoming an accepted approach for organizations to demonstrate they have strategies for Sustainable Growth. It focuses on decision making and reporting, which explicitly considers an organization s economic, environmental and social performance. Right smack dab in the middle of the circle graph is Sustainability. When all three pillars are in play, Sustainability happens. Moving on, there are three set goal principals for the Triple Bottom Line and they all three relate back to the three pillars. LSD is sometimes mixed with another hallucinogen, phencyclidine, or PCP. As it can be produced with a fairly simple process, PCP labs have sprung up in many areas and can be hard to detect. CLUB DRUGS Another category of drugs that forensic scientists have to test for and identify is club drugs. Club drugs are synthetic drugs that are typically used in bars, nightclubs, raves, and other gatherings. Some of these drugs have become popular in these settings because they are thought to enhance or improve the experience, although they also have side effects and dangers. Many of these drugs are used primarily by teens and young adults. The settings of raves and nightclubs also support the use of these drugs. Their small, often tablet form make the drugs easy to conceal, and with so many people dancing and moving, individuals who take the drugs are often not as noticeable as they might be in another setting even when experiencing the effects of the drug. Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), or Ecstasy, as it is more commonly known, is one of the most popular club drugs. Originally patented as an appetite suppressant, this synthetic drug produces feelings of happiness as well as hallucinations. Chronic use of the drug has serious effects on the body, including kidney failure, stroke, and seizures.

In this essay I will be comparing She, by Matthew Brooks Treacy and the relationship with his mother to my relationship with my father, and the lessons taught through experiences that occurred. My father taught the concept of moral obligation, in a similar fashion to Traecy s mother teaching him to use his hands, through errands, that influenced my decision to make ethical decisions throughout my life. First off, moral obligation, in this essay, can be defined as an obligation to act in good faith because it lies within your personal values. In other words, it can be your reasoning for making a morally right decision. Treacy s mother greatly influenced him and the way he makes decision throughout his life. He recalls his mother saying, If you go a day without using your hands, you die (39). He calls this ..a principle that influences the way I do things (39). Furthermore, he goes on to explain that his mother ..always used her hands (39). You can notice the significance of using hands in the family. It was a lesson deeply engrained in Treacy. A lesson he will always remember through his mother. After all, our parents are responsible for teaching us some of our greatest lessons. • 24. Chinese Culture And Western Culture In Child Rearing Introduction Culture is a set of values that are ingrained in human beings from birth. They define our actions, our view of what is good, fair, and just, and shape the way we live our lives. The definition of cross cultural values and beliefs is that of where people from different countries or regions interact, bringing their different values, viewpoints, and practices unique to their culture (Dictionary, 2017). In this literature review, we will analyze the differences between Chinese and Western culture in child rearing, with a focus on the impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts, how children accommodate or resist those socialization efforts, and finally, we will discuss the implications for parents and teachers. Socializing behavior is defined as behavior enacted towards children, or in the presence of children, to induce or shape their behavior or understanding of behavior (LeCuyer Zhang, 2015). The impact of cultural values on parents and/or teachers socialization efforts The Chinese culture is known for its collectivism with focus on group success over personal success, and hierarchal authority where children are expected to obey parents, teachers, and other authorities in power. • 26. Critical Analysis Of Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close Extremely Loud Incredibly Close is a 2005 book by Jonathan Safran Foer about a young boy dealing with the death of his father in the attacks on September 11, 2001. A critical analysis of the firebombing of Dresden and how it connects and grows the main themes of the novel will be stated forthwith. Oskar Schell was nine years old when his father was tragically taken from him by two jetliners flown by terrorists. This was especially unfortunate for him as his father seemed to be the only person that fully understood how Oskar s Aspergers affected him and could use that to keep Oskar in a state of growth. Thomas Schell, Oskar s father, would assign Oskar reconnaissance missions in which the young boy had to converse with strangers and do other tasks in order to grow his social skills and get him out of his shell. This was the point at which the class noticed that Oskar s father seemed to be such a great father to make up for the fact that his own father was absent for his entire life. This moves onto the analysis of Thomas Schell Sr. Thomas Schell Sr. lived in Dresden Germany as a child and was raised there. As a young boy, Thomas was full of hope, love, and emotion. Today, the city of Dresden represents a devastation incendiary bombing by the allies near the end of the second world war. Thomas lived through this bombing and lost the love of his life as well as his unborn child. The young man was hunkering down in a cellar attempting to shelter from the burning when he realized that Anna, his lover, was missing. Insisting on going back out despite his parent s wishes, Thomas went headstrong into the inferno. After the bombing, Dresden was encompassed by a firestorm blowing air heated to hundreds of degrees fahrenheit at hurricane speeds. This brings to mind the devastating dust cloud that touched down in NYC after the WTC attacks. This moves onto the next chronological analysis. There are quite a few striking similarities in Oskar s and Thomas situation and this helps to strengthen and connect Foer s novel. Oskar and Thomas both experienced extreme loss at a relatively young age. Thomas went through the death of his lover and unborn child, while Oskar experienced the death of the only man ... The Search for Truth in Plato s Allegory of the Cave and Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio The novel Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson has many themes that present themselves throughout the book. The characters in the book do not fully realize that they are searching for truth, but they do feel a vague, indescribable thing that pushes and prods their minds to actualize a higher plane of thought. Her eyes have to adjust to the darkness of the cave once again. However, this adjustment naturally takes a long time. As a result, the once free person can no longer see the shadows as well as she did before her release into the upper world. These activists take their ideas from another group in the Bronx named Take Back The Bronx and have also suggested monitoring police to limit what they can do until they are forced to not abuse their power or retreat from ... • 31. The Earth’s Nuclear Core Essay The Earth s Nuclear Core The Earth s core is like a massive nuclear reactor, burning uranium into lighter elements, and producing much of the geological phenomenon observed on the Earth. This fission reactor is responsible for producing most of the Earth s heat and energy, as well as, the phenomenon of geomagnetism. There is substantial reason to believe that the center of the Earth is a massive nuclear reactor derived from empirical data observed in the earth, and logical evidence to prove that the theory is true. The theory started when geologists in the fifties began whether natural occurring nuclear fission was possible. Eventually, empirical evidence presented itself. In 1972 at the Oklo uranium mine in western ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of the Earth, the reactions in question are fueled by the element uranium 235, and uranium 238. Uranium is the heaviest naturally occurring element on Earth and it is common in fission reactions. Early in the Earth s formation, numerous elemental changes were taking place. Some elements would combine with other elements to become stable. In the case of the newly formed Earth, many elements looked for oxygen to become stable. However, early in the formation of the earth there was little oxygen present. That meant that elements that combine with oxygen, such as uranium and magnesium, would have no where to go, but into the Earth s core. It is estimated that from this process, about 64 percent of the earth s uranium actually sank to the Earth s center. If these elements were abundant enough and were allowed to gather over a long period of time they would be able to initiate their own self sustaining fission reactions. Much of what is known about the Earth s nuclear core can be learned from logical, mathematical reasoning. A great deal is understood about radioactive decay, and fission so with basic knowledge of the elemental pieces of the theory it is not difficult to make accurate estimates and predictions about the quantity, and commonality of these processes in the earth. Today the core of the Earth would be an estimated five miles in diameter. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is a good accomplishment for a company that sees s much smaller revenues than many of its competitors. Although the company has much going for it, there are still some concerns that should be taken into consideration. As mentioned above, the company does see smaller revenues than many of its competitors. This lower generation of revenues could end up putting the company at a disadvantage in such a competitive market. Raytheon s size could also lead to a reduction in bargaining power against its competition (DATAMONITOR). Another weakness is the company s dependence on government contracts. • 34. The Impact Of Digital Technology On The Creation Of... Henry Jenkins describes convergence as a situation where multiple media systems coexist and where media content flows fluidly across them (2006: 282). An important part of the information transferred across platforms are the techniques utilised in creation. Digital technologies have no doubt had a large impact on moving images and how they are developed and produced in the modern world. There has been the introduction of inexpensive consumer digital recording devices, and the ability to create a video with mobile phones rather than needing a separate dedicated device. This has led to growth in the creation of amateur moving images on platforms such as YouTube in a variety of forms. As well as inspiring the creation of new areas of production, digital advances have enabled further evolution in more traditional areas. Early cinematic pioneers dabbled with in camera trickery in order to create fantastical scenes and amaze viewers, and this principle carries forward to today. Matt Reeve s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) is a good example of the intriguing applications of digital technology in order to achieve these old goals in a potentially better way.
