Analysis Of Pushing Thirty By Jody Paulsen
According to Elle magazine (February 22, 2017), Jody Paulsen describes his artwork as a
millennial approach to becoming an adult , hence the name of his outstanding exhibition, Pushing
Thirty . His unique artwork of text, colour, pattern, imagery and texture, embodies a perfect
balance between optimism versus reality. One can view his incredible work at the SMAC gallery
in the heart of Cape Town s artistic Woodstock area. The artist and fashion designer, Jody Paulsen,
perfectly controls how he expresses his not so typical coming of age story, through the use of bold
statements, challenging stereotypes, vibrant colour and his main use of the unconventional
material, felt, provides a clear and common thread that runs through the exhibition. Furthermore,
Jody makes use of a variety of conceptualised images and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It shows a sense of beauty and freedom with an endless potential of what one can become.
However, I did find the photographic work a bit disheartening as I feel it was a summary of
Paulsen s work which in reality has a much more deeper and personal meaning. It was more of an
overview, which consequently does not show the individual style of the artwork. In conclusion,
his works give off a bold, dramatic statement of socio political and cultural issues that has
personal meaning, identity and freedom, but consequently, may also be viewed to some as an IN
YOUR FACE exaggeration. This however, does not undermine Jody s works and his ability to put
himself out there through his art. Thus the exhibition, Pushing Thirty is all about the issues and
experiences in Jody s life that has shaped who he is today. He is the subject of his artwork. For
that reason he can freely express himself through is magnificent pieces that leaves a long lasting

Summary Of The Story The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
I HAVE READ THE STORY the short happy life of Francis Macomber, and I m going to give
my assessment of the book. This really isn t a happy story. I will tell what I think of the characters
the setting and plot of the story. Let s start with one of the main characters, Robert Wilson.
Robert Wilson ... Wilson, a professional safari guide and hunter, is the strong courageous rugged
blue eyed white man that had made a home for himself in Africa with the Zimbabwe people. His
profession was showing wealthy Americans how to hunt for big game animals such as lions,
impalas and buffalo. In some sense Wilson was a little cocky and arrogant, because his clients
didn t know that he was quite intelligent and spent time in the military before going to Africa. He
was also A real lady s man, and a man s man also. This is probably why Ernest Hemingway really
connected with this character, thus I think making him really opinionated.
Frances Macomber. Now Frances Macomber is a well groomed physically fit man (especially for
his age) looking more like a younger man in his twenties than his thirtyish age and wealthy. He is
also Well educated and great at gentleman sports, like big game fishing.
Margret Margot memsahib Macomber ... the wife of Frances Macomber. A very beautiful and
elegant woman. However, she is kind of a femme fatale type. she is a philander of sorts, she has
cheated on Macomber not once, but several times to be exact. Margot doesn t love her husband,
she loves her husband s

Analyzing Paul Walker s Obituary
My Obituary Analysis
When I think about the qualities of an effective obituary, three things come to mind. The obituary is
bound to be a factual notice of death that includes all the basics about the person: their birth date,
death date, home town, parents, children, and information about their career. This is the framework
that makes up an obituary and is the most significant portion of it. Secondly, it is imperative that
the obituary lists the person s major achievements in life. Lastly, the obituary should conform to
its audience. The families of the deceased benefit from a kind portrayal of their loved one with
highlights from their life. In contrast, a stranger reading it would be more entertained by the
obituary if it was blunt when talking about the person s life. Therefore, an obituary writer should
find a balance between discussing the person s successes and failures. Paul Walker s obituary is
effective because it is factual and portrays his accomplishments. ... Show more content on

For example, it describes Walker as slim, slick and blue eyed (Gilbey 1). The obituary provides a
detailed description of his roles in the Fast and Furious movies and includes quotes from him on
what he thought about making the movies. This allows readers that did not know him as well to
get a glimpse of what it was like for him to star in one of the most popular movie series to date. In
short, Walker s obituary connects readers to what his life was like.
Furthermore, the obituary discusses Walker s major achievements in his acting career. He
appeared in TV shows in the 90 s, but the wildly popular Fast and Furious movies are what
launched his career. As the obituary states, Though he had shown promise in his early film roles,
he could easily have become just another piece of well dressed eye candy had it not been for his
involvement in the colossally successful Fast and Furious franchise, which has grossed $2.38bn
worldwide to date (Gilbey

The Need for Network Security
By: Jose L. Rodriguez
The Need for Network Security
The primary objective with this paper deals with how network security systems protect, detect,
adapt, recover and/or reconfigured from anomalies in order to provide some desired level of security
services. This paper is a strategy for the development of a general security mechanism
/countermeasure valuation scheme. The general objective addresses the question, Given the value
of information to be protected and the threat environment, how strong and assured should security
mechanism(s) be to provide desired security services(s)? [DEL98]

They can create new electronic files, run their own programs, and hide evidence of their

Why the Internet is Vulnerable
In the beginning network protocols that formed part of the Internet infrastructure were designed
without security in mind. Without a fundamentally secure infrastructure, network defense becomes
more difficult. Furthermore, the Internet is an extremely dynamic environment in terms of both
topology and emerging technology. [COH95]
First, because of the inherent openness of the Internet and the original design of the protocols,
Internet attacks in general are quick, easy, inexpensive, and may be hard to detect or trace. [KRO92]
Second, many sites place unwarranted trust in the Internet. It is common for sites to be unaware of
the risks or unconcerned about the amount of the trust they place in the Internet.
Third, much of the traffic on the Internet is not encrypted, confidentiality and integrity are difficult
to achieve. This situation undermines not only applications (such as financial applications that are
network based) but also more fundamental mechanisms such as authentication and no repudiation.
Fourth, another factor contributing to the vulnerability of the Internet is the rapid growth and use
of the network, accompanied by rapid deployment of the network services involving complex
applications. Often these services are not designed, configured, or maintained

Immigration And Immigration
The debates over immigration and immigration policy did not develop in recent memory. In fact,
one could argue that the debates over this issue date back to antiquity. During Biblical times people
did not agree with each other regarding immigration. Even the authors of the Scriptures had
different opinions about immigration. Matthew and Paul are two New Testament authors who each
discuss the topic of immigration in their writings. Matthew did so in the second chapter of his
Gospel, and Paul, in the thirteenth chapter of his letter to the Romans.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the author discusses the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people
could argue that this story is an argument in favor of lenient immigration policies and
international laws, especially those regarding refugees and asylum. Matthew mentions the dream
that Joseph had about an angel of the Lord (Matthew 2:13) telling him to flee to Egypt with his
wife and their new baby because King Herod was searching for baby Jesus in order to kill him
since Herod did not want to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. This dream conversation is
important because part of the context of Matthew is trying to convince people that Jesus is the
Messiah.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees defines a refugee as someone who has been forced to
flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. (UNHCR) An asylum seeker,
according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, is defined as a person who flees their

After hearing about The Big Lebowski years back from a fellow sailor while stationed in Pearl

now that I have I regret not watching it sooner. I have to say that this movie quickly became one
of my favorites while John Goodman s character Walter reminded me of many of my military
friends. The Big Lebowski is full of some great laughs and many, many quotable moments. I will
say that after hearing from multiple friends that this was a great movie I was a bit skeptical
because I m not that big of a fan of the films that the Coen brothers direct, they just aren t my cup

Mcdonald s A Competitive Advantage
SYNOPSIS
In the United States, the fast food market provides consumers quick meals at a reasonable cost. It
has grown significantly in recent years with an 8.7% average annual growth rate throughout the
1980 s. The concept of the industry, providing healthy alternatives to traditional fast food and being
environmentally sound is the latest example how consumers affect the industry. The companies
must be able to change very quickly in order to meet these customer demands and the changing
environment while still conforming to its strategy. For an example, consider McDonald s
Corporation; it is a company that has been able to remain true to its philosophy and still be able to
adapt to the market situation. The resources and capabilities the company has assembled has
allowed it to be a consistent top performer even in a market that is competitive. This paper discusses
several capabilities and resources that provided McDonald s a competitive advantage: food
innovations, customer satisfaction, regulatory standards, intensive training program, quality
products, franchisee relationships, and supplier relations. By applying the VRIO theory to the
information discovered in the case, it was determined that the resources and capabilities that
McDonald s possessed in the 1990 s allowed it to gain a sustainable competitive advantage which
lead to industry success throughout the years.

Kusado Sengen Essay
Extended Response Kusado Sengen
The discovery of Kusado Sengen in 1928, a long forgotten medieval Japanese town that once used
to be suited near Seto Inland Sea and the mouth of Ashida River, was significant to the historian s
understanding medieval Japan because it changed historians beliefs on medieval Japan through the
many artifacts and remains it has left. These include pottery, coinage and a collection of wooden
objects.
In 1928, a large amount of pottery, coins, imported goods, tools and other artifacts were discovered
during the process of re routing Ashida River. These discoveries lead many historians to believe that
this indicated to location of the forgotten town, Kusado Sengen. In 1961, the Fukuyama Municipal

found from the excavations are now exhibited and protected in the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum
of History which opened in 1989. This museum focuses on Seto Inland Sea and especially Kusado

found and the lifestyle deducted from it.
Historians and Archaeologists discovered many pottery that can be traced back to distant villages in
Japan and even China which tells historians that Kusado Sengen was probably connected to
wide regions of Asia through Seto Inland Sea. Source C (pottery) is a Tokoname Ware jar that
was one of many types of earthenware which was the most common type of pottery. This showed
that Japan had clay, knew how to turn it into ceramics. Archaeologist were also able to find some
everyday wooden objects such as bowls with fancy art on them which was able to give
historians an understanding of medieval Japaneses art. Source B (wooden objects) depicts an
artist impression of a lacquerware bowl which is a wooden bowl with a layer of lacquer which
gives it a shiny look. This proved that Japan had access to lacquer and

The Humanity of Achilles Essay
As George Eliot once said, It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points
of view. Whether viewing a piece of artwork or another person, there are often many points of
view to evaluate in order to find the true core of the subject. In great works of literature, authors
often create complex and dynamic characters to add depth and meaning into the story. In the Iliad,
Homer beautifully depicts the multifaceted character of Achillesas an epic hero. As readers look
closely at Achilles, he reveals different sides of himself as the epic poem develops. Representing
the struggle between his dominant, selfish, and Dionysian nature as an epic hero and his hidden
empathetic Apollonian core, Achilles reveals the mythos of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The taking of Bryseis angered Achilles because she represented his success as a leader. Achilles
also consistently shows another Dionysian trait throughout the Iliad: the seeking of revenge. In the
Iliad Patroclus, a trusted friend of Achilles goes to fight against Hector while Achilles is away from
the war. Ultimately, Patroclus is murdered by Hector on the battlefield and Achilles greatly
mourns him (Homer 16.77 867). Achilles was deeply saddened by the death of his beloved
comrade and grief took hold of [him] (Hamilton 197). Representing Sigmund Freud s principle of
homo lomini lupus or man is a wolf to man, Achilles wants to avenge his friend s life by
murdering the one who murdered him. Mankind has the tendency to do unto others as others
have done unto them. Hector killed Patroclus but Achilles is blind to his motives as to why. He
doesn t see that Hector killed Patroclus in self defense during a battle but he only views Hector
as a murderer. The blindness with which Achilles acts shows an immense force working in
Achilles. According to Simone Weil force is that x that turns anybody who is subjected to it into a
thing (Benfey,82). In this case the force that acts on Achilles is the degrading force of anger due to
war. The war has stripped Achilles of his humanity and ability to act rationally. If Achilles continues
to behave primarily in a Dionysian way, he will become the cause of his own ultimate detriment.

Cultural Context
Cultural Context Part B
To study the cultural context of Sive and Children of Men means to examine the world of each
and the values and attitude of the people in these worlds. The worlds created in Sive and Children
of Men are very distinct but also have many parallels. Both texts explore the concepts of family,
love, fear and control.
The setting of each text was paramount in informing me about the attitudes and values of that
time. Each text depicts an oppressive and controlled society. Children of Men is set in the year
2027, in the future, which contrasts to Sive which is set in the 1950 s, in the past. Children of
Men is set in urban London in the future. On the contrary Sive is set in 1950 s Ireland in a very ...

Similarly in Sive , Sive is a young girl growing up in 1950 s Ireland. There is nothing special
about Sive. Both protagonists receive motivation to stand up for what they believe in. In
children of Men , Theo needs to be bribed at first before he gets motivated. However after he is
bribed Theo learns something which gives him hope and drives him on. Kee the lady he is
protecting is pregnant with the first baby in 18 years, your baby is the miracle the world has
been waiting for . This displays Theo s newfound hope; it is this hope that gives him purpose.
Similarly Sive also receives a reason to hope which also gives her purpose. Liam Scuab and Sive
fall in love. After being matched with Sean Dota it is her love for Liam Scuab that drives her to
rebel against the match. Sive, I love you are the words that give Sive purpose to rebel against
society. Both Alfonso Cuaron and John B. Keane have created situations for the protagonists where
they are forced to rebel in order to get what they believe in.
Both texts explore the ideas of love and marriage. In Children of Men Theo was married to
Julian and they had a son called Dylan. However baby Dylan died and their grief drove them apart
and destroyed their family. In contrast to this, in Sive Sive and Liam are only beginning their
relationship and face many problems together. In Children of Men Julian and Theo were allowed to

The Effects Of Climate And Low Nutritional Status Of...
For more than a century, there has been a heated debate if humans, thru the usage of anthropogenic
fire regimes and direct influence on the extinction of mega faunas, affected the overall environment
in Australia. The scholars that are against these accusations argue that the change developed due to
the effects of climateand low nutritional status of Australian soils. In addition, they also argue that
the evidence provided by the scholars who think humanaffected environment are inconclusive and
not convincing enough. One of the issues is interpreting the information that certain studies
showcase. In many instances, it can say humans are to blame, but also that they aren t to blame.

Therefore, we can conclude that there was an impact on ecosystem by humans. Correlative
evidence can be found regarding rapid extinction in Queensland (Turney et al., 2008; Gillespie et
al., 2012), where there was an abrupt decline in Spororomiella fungal spores indicative of
megahebrivores. Furthermore, since the arrival of humans in Australia, one of the main sources of
obtaining food was hunting mega faunas, which substantially decreased their number and led to
their extinction. Beside hunting, the humans picked fruits and other type of food that might have
been the same source of eating for mega faunas, which additionally pressured them and made theme
extinct. Also, the modification of the fire regime also affected them. To give an example, through
the usage of OSL and uranium series methord to date the megafaunal s remain, the large flightless

for establishment of trees and shrubs (Bond and Keeley, 2005;

process of extinction was underway for some time before the arrival of humans and that the climate

Shades of a White Man
What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving
how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god.
(Shakespeare) Humans were born pure, humble and humane. Politics, science, conflicts and the
innate desire for dominance change who we are, and who we ultimately aspire to be. The
culture we are born into, too, affects who we are in a rather dramatic way; it contributes
significantly in writing the script of a person s life. George Orwell was born into a culture of
white men, a culture that believes in dominance and superiority, a culture that steps on whoever
stands in its way. Imperialism was that culture; the culture that Orwell was influenced by, and
suffered from. From my perspective, I believe that even though George Orwell claimed that he
was against the imperialist, British culture; I was all for the Burmese and against their
oppressors, the British (Orwell, Shooting an Elephant, par. 2), he was an imperialist in disguise,
and had always been one. He was a unique imperialist, one who had morals and ethical
obligations, which seemingly resulted in his lifelong misery, since it would not naturally align
with the culture he belongs to. Orwell was not a perfect white man, yet he was one. Imperialism
is a state of mind, a certain way of looking at people and life. The imperialist culture is a selfish
one; it imprints a seal on all of its descendants, thus creating masters out of

Charles Manson Manson
The 1960s was a decade of revolution focusing on establishing peace and love throughout the
world. Throughout these ten years many social and cultural changes occurred leaving the United
States to be young and vibrant. In 1969 much of the youth was embraced in the Summer of Love
focusing on peace, love, and peaceful protests. Individuals were advocating for their personal
beliefs in a way they never did before. However this all came to a crashing end in August when
eight influential individuals were found murdered in their own homes. On August 9, actress
Sharon Tate, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, and Jay Sebring were found at Tate s home and
one day later, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were found murdered in the same brutal fashion. In
1971 jurors found cult leader Charles Mansonand three of his followers guilty of all murders and
was sentenced to life imprisonment. This would have been Manson s third imprisonment. Although
Manson was a sadistic psychopath, he was heavily influenced by music, especially the Beatles. Cult
followers claim Manson often quoted the Beatles and the Bible , as he believed that the Beatles
were prophets of God. In turn, many songs from The White Album and the Beatles themselves
drastically played into Manson s perspective on life and eventually the Tate LaBianca murders of
1969. Charles Manson lived a difficult childhood. With a fifteen year old mother who was sent

revolution within his country and keep the conventional army forces, who remained loyal to the

Iran cut all ties with the United States and lost its dominance in the area; it s army was

Iranian confrontation with the U.S. ensured it would be cut off from its primary weapons supplier.
During the year after the fall of the Shah, many areas of Iran were approaching civil war; this

Boeing s Product Is Planes Essay
Boeing s product is aircrafts. These aircrafts include commercial airplanes freight airplanes, and
Boeing Business Jets (BBJ). All of Boeing s aircrafts stem from their five jet families: 737, 747,
767, 777, 787 (Boeing, 2016). Each family differs in size, engine, build, range, and capacity in
order to meet the needs of all Boeingcustomers. The commercial section of Boeing aircraft
focuses on mass transit of passengers and has a jet from each of the five families offered
(Boeing, 2016). The commercial airplanes range from small 50 person planes that travel
between relatively close cities, to large 600 passenger planes that travel across the globe. The
freight section of Boeing aircraft focuses on planes capable of carrying goods to be delivered to
and from different areas or regions (Boeing, 2016). These freight versions of the Boeing aircraft
family do not come equipped with any of their commercial aircraft such as cabin seating,
overhead storage, lights, air vents, or any cabin service features. These are planes intended to

Puritans Expository Essay
Reformed Protestant individuals, with the main goal of purifying society, were considered Puritans.
Puritans disagreed with the ritualistic practices of the Church of England, and sought out new land
to practice their own personal beliefs. The first brave group of Puritans to completely disconnect
themselves from the Church were the Pilgrims. In the beginning, the Pilgrims migrated to the
Dutch Republic, but after they began to see their children adopt Dutch language and way of life, the
search for new land started once again. Therefore, in 1620, Pilgrims migrated to the Plymouth
Colony (present day Massachusetts), which was governed by William Bradford, an English
separatist leader. On board the Mayflower ship, that landed in Cape Cod, Bradford... Show more

Paragraph 3)
If any alternative influences entered Massachusetts Bay colony, the Puritans showed that they can
be just as intolerant as the Church of England. For example, Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson
questioned some of the practices of the colony. Williams argued the need for a complete separation
from the Church of England. This was a highly unpopular opinion amongst Puritan people.
Williams also did not think the state could compel true orthodoxy, or a true religious doctrine.
These claims were considered dangerous by Puritan law. Anne Hutchinson also disagreed with
Puritan way of life. She noticed the shallow teaching of Protestantism that emphasized the covenant
of works opposed to the covenant of grace . Literate women also joined Hutchinson to challenge the
male minister s authority, especially the authority of Governor John

Leinaweaver Child Circulation Summary
In Jesseca B. Leinaweaver s Child Circulation: Kinship, Adoption and Morality in Andean Peru,
Leinaweaver s central point is on how the movement of the children play a part on how kinship is
determined socially. It examines the phenomenon of formal and informal adoption practices. The
descriptive anthropology deals with a universal perspective on culture. What is made utile through
the circulation of children is gender, adoption and kinship to influence the organization of the
Andean community. Kinship means where you are from and where family ties in together.
Living in a certain area can lead to our religion and passed on to generations. Family ties may cause

At the beginning of the course, we also learned about feminist anthropology and how it initially
focused on women, gender construction, and gender inequality, increasingly concerned with
power and inequality in general. Using a reading from class, I am able to understand how social
constructions of gender is able to vary cross culturally. The Berdache Tradition explains the
difference between sex and gender. Sex is a biological form when gender can be perceived more
as a choice. Meaning, there are more than two genders. It is able to be varied among cultures. In
the reading, men played a third gender, doing housework. In some of the cultures, the berdache is
able to become a wife to a man. This ties in to a Leinaweavers work of a child of circulation.
Many Native Americans were able to understand that gender roles had to do with more than just a
biological sex. Individuals were a part of the natural order of the universe itself, with something
special to contribute. This all helped me with the understanding of gender relations to understand
the lives of the adopted children in Ayacucho,

A Brief Biography of Antonio Vivaldi
Introduction Vivaldi is one of the most well known composer and conductor in the baroque
period. A search about his life time has been conducted in this research paper. Although he was
forgotten for a couple of years, his most famous music piece The Four Seasons is still played to
this date. The Four Seasons will be analyzed by dividing it into its four different sonnets
Vivaldi s Life Antonio Vivaldiwas a baroque musician born in Venice to a father that was a
violinist. His father was his only important teacher, and they sometimes played the violin
together in church. Antonio was born into a large family. He had four brothers and four sisters.
He was taught to play the violin at a young age with his father who then took him on a playing
tour in Venice. When he was fifteen, he began studying to become a priest. He became a priest
in 1703. Vivaldi was known as the red priest due to his bright red hair. Kings and princes knew
him and he was asked to play for them. He was a violin teacher, composer, and conductor for
most of his life at the music school of Pieta, when he was 25, an orphanage for girls in Venice.
He also wrote for Venetian opera houses. He is best known for his 450 or more concerti grossi
and solo concertos although he has composed operas and church music. He had a suffered from a
medical problem called tightening of the chest, or as we may know it the asthma. However, his
sickness did not prevent him from pursuing his passion in music. He died in 1741

A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis
Avila, Bryan
Lang and Lit Year 2
11/11/17
Written Task 2
Title of the text for analysis: A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams. 2004.
Part of the course to which the task refers: Part 4 Literature, a Critical Study
Prescribed Question: How and why is a social group represented in a particular way?
My critical response will:
в—ЏShow how the males are portrayed in the text
в—ЏShow how Stanley is the alpha male and what his role is
в—ЏShow how Mitch is the omega male and what his role is
In A Streetcar Named Desire, men are the social groups represented with these roles alpha, beta,
omega. Males are portrayed as a big part in Tennessee s book, which shows the respect and rights
they hold. The men are shown this way to give off their looks and personality. The way things are
set up in the book shows the understanding of each male characters and where they stand.
The top dog Stanley is the alpha, Pablo and Steve are betas and Mitch is the omega. For
example,in the book the author writes, Stanley doesn t give me a regular allowance; he likes to
pay bills himself. (pg 78) . Making it seemed as if Stanley is the man and has it all under control .
The author wants the audience to know that Stanley has the money so he is the one in charge and
what he want has to be done, and done his way. But on the other hand the author introduces Mitch
as a very soft, awkward man that is a mamas boy .The book quotes, Hurry back and we ll fix you
a sugar tit. (pg 48). The quote refers that Mitch is as a man who can t do anything on his own
and he still is a baby and lives off his mom and has her do things for him. Tennessee used
different reference to show how the men are described in, A Streetcar Named Desire. Alphas are
always the first or leaders in the group. While betas back the alphas up and got their backs. And
last are omegas they are the loser. Betas are more anti and careless of what others care, they don t
care what others think. Steve and Pablo are kind and they try to not interfere in much of what goes
on which are characteristics of a beta. Stanley is forced, pinioned by the two men, into the
bedroom. (pg 63).
In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stanley is to be seen and known as to the most dominant

Warfarin Therapy Research Paper
There has been much debate between physicians about the need for heparin or a low molecular
weight heparin (LMWH) use when initiating warfarin therapy for anticoagulation. The use of
heparin or a LMWH when initiating warfarin therapy has been justified by a theoretical possibility
of a transient hypercoaguable state from the warfarinuse. Many physicians believe that the only
safe and effective way to start a patient on warfarin is with the use of one of these heparins,
however, the hypercoaguable state is just a theoretical possibility. Also, heparin bridging must be
done in a hospital where the levels can be monitored, while a LMWH can be done at home, but is
usually relatively expensive and requires the patient to give themselves injections.... Show more

on to conclude that warfarin naГЇve patients (patients who have never taken warfarin previously)
with atrial fibrillation might have a greater increased risk for thrombotic events during the first 30

due to a warfarin induced hypercoaguable state, or it may be due to the extended time interval it
takes for a therapeutic INR to be achieved by inexperienced warfarin

Twisted Tornadoes
Whats a tornado s favorite game? Twister! Tornadoes cause a lot of damage, because they have
high wind speeds, kill and injure people, cover large amounts of land, they can mix with wild fire
to cause firenadoes, and they are on the ground so they are close to people and structures.
Tornadoes happen most often in the spring time, which is why it is called tornadoseason. Tornado
Alley is where the most tornadoes happen annually. Tornado Alley includes Oklahoma, Kansas, the
Texas Panhandle, Nebraska, Eastern South Dakota, and Eastern Colorado(12 Twisted Tornado
Facts.).
A tornado is a type of natural disaster. Tornadoes are violent and destructive windstorms that
happen on land(Tornado). A windstorm cannot be considered a tornado until it has touched the
ground. Tornadoes form when moist warm air is trapped under cold dry air. When the warm air is
pushed up, if the conditions are right, the air will start to spin and a tornado will form(12 Twisted
Tornado Facts).
Tornadoes can be very dangerous if you are caught in one, like the people of St. Louis in 1896, or
the people caught in the tornadoes of the tornado outbreak in 1974. In the past we didn t have
technology to help us predict tornadoes. Now we can predict them with 70% accuracy.
There was a tornado outbreak in 1947. Three hundred thirty people were killed, and two thousand
and five hundred were injured. One hundred forty eight tornadoes touched down in three states. In
all, there were tornadoes in 13

The Art And Baroque Art Of Peter Paul Rubens
Peter Paul Rubens (b. Siegen, Germany, 1577; d. Antwerp, 1640) was a Flemish painter revered
as the most versatile and influential baroque artist of Northern Europe in the 17th century. Rubens
s art emphasizes the theory of artistic imitation, and blends features of the Italian High
Renaissance and Northern realism with elements from antiquity. Rubens specialized in making
altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects.
In his painting Venus and Adonis, mid 1630s, Rubens juxtaposed Ovid s Metamorphoses (book
X) and Titian s Venus and Adonis, 1553 1554, to generate his own invention that relies on his
theories of artistic imitation. Rubens painting is predominantly influenced by, but not modeled
after Titian s piece, which he copied in Madrid in 1629. Rubens was born in the German town of
Siegen, in Westphalia. His father, Jan Rubens, a lawyer and alderman of Antwerp, had fled the
Spanish Netherlands in 1568 with his wife, Maria Pypelinckx, and four children to escape religious
persecution for his Calvinist beliefs. After Jan s death in 1587, the family returned to Antwerp,
where young Peter Paul, raised in his mother s Roman Catholic faith, and received a classical
education. His humanist education seriously began with his apprenticeship to Otto van Veen, with
whom he probably worked with from 1594 to 1598. During this period, Antwerp developed into an
important center for the Counter Reformation due to a serious

Informative Essay On Tutor House
The Architecture that is put into houses in the United States is a huge factor when considering
what kind of house you want to live in. Another factor that you want to consider when you are

The Great Gig In The Sky
The Great Gig in the Sky is a metaphor for death. As one grows older there are fears of dying, but
this song sings a tune of the character not frightened of dying (Floyd, The Great Gig in the Sky).
The character has lived his unfulfilled life of stress, anxiety, and the passing of time, that now
dying seems pleasant. Talking with elders, some are scared of dying because they wonder if
they did have an unfulfilled life, but this character seems to accept it, and because of that he or

a serious danger to birds and marine mammals that often mistake them for food. Thousands die

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Administrative Reports
Administrative Reports
Overview with tools, software, best practices and alternatives
What is an administrative report?
An administrative report is a document that presents the status and progress of certain work within
a team or a company.
Who does administrative reports?
An administrative report is usually done by a person with an administrative function. Common
examples are office secretaries and administrative delegates. Those with higher position such as
managers and supervisors are also eligible to create an administrative report.
Why do people write administrative reports?
Administrative reports are prepared to give the current status and progress of a certain project

including the assessment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the reports inform team members about these existing or rising issues, they will be able to

Disadvantages of administrative reports
While administrative reports help in the workflow of a team s project, it also presents some flaws.
Some administrative reports have inaccurate or incomplete information, which may adversely affect
the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of data. For instance, inaccuracy of the
numbers in an inventory report in an administrative report may affect the succeeding shipment of
products. Another example is a list of cases in an administrative report in a hospital. Failure to list
all kinds of cases may change the results when data are analyzed.
The other negative point in administrative reports is that some readers only read the end part the
summary, conclusion, and recommendation. It may sometimes end up the reader asking questions,
instead of reading the whole paper.

Gene Expression Of Soybeans ( Glycine Max )
Gene Expression of Soybeans (Glycine max) in Response to Bacterial Inoculants, Rhizoboost,
Defensor and Rhizobium under abiotic Stress (heat condition) in Glycine max
Proposal by Noor Sairafi and Dr. Sue Hum Musser
Western Illinois University, Department of Biology
Abstract Several microorganisms have the ability to promote plant growth and produce compounds
which are known to stimulate plant defenses by inducing systemic resistance (ISR) in attacked
plants (1). Bacillus species are commonly used in formulating microbial fertilizers due to their rapid
beneficial effects in colonizing plant root and establishing Rhizobia bacteria mutualism inside their
root structure. In this paper research, I will observe this unique interaction by examining the gene
expression of soybeans (Glycine max) and their response to bio inoculants under a heat stress. I will
use four different treatments: control, Defensor, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium, and
Rhizoboost and Rhizobium. Once the infected seeds germinate, I will incubate soybean seeds at 25
oC and 37 oC for approximately 16 hours followed by grinding seeds for RNA purification. Gene
expression data will be then obtained and collected via qPCR analysis followed by microarray
analysis for more data confirmation. Additionally, a two way ANOVA and a Tukey s multiple

The Basics Of Synchronous And Asynchronous Circuits
ABSTRACT The aim of the presented report is to understand the basics of synchronous and
asynchronous circuits. The term paper is about synchronous and asynchronous circuits and their
differences. The advantages and disadvantages of both synchronous and asynchronous circuits
are discussed further. Digital circuits and sequential circuits are also described in brief at the
beginning of the report. The clock gating, self clock gating and clock signals are explained.
Further, the sequential machines moore and mealy are discussed along with their differences
and variations. In the end, the differences between the two types of circuits are highlighted. Also,
the term paper is summed with a conclusion in the end. What are digital circuits? Those circuits
wherever the signal should be one in every of 2 distinct levels is referred to as digital circuit.
Every level is taken into account jointly of 2 completely different states. Example on/off, 0/1,
true/false etc. In comparison to analog circuits, digital circuits are less susceptible to noise or
degradation in quality, additionally the errors are detected and corrected simply with the
assistance of digital signals. EDA ELECTRONIC style AUTOMATION tools (a style of package
that improves or enhance the logic in digital circuit) is employed by the engineer to automatize the
method of coming up with such circuits. ADVANTAGES Some of the essential benefits of

African Americans And Caucasian Americans
The tensions are still there also because there still continue to be separate standards society sets

Interracial marriage or dating is still considered a socially unacceptable sighting or experience.

When President Eisenhower spoke these words to the graduating cadets, whose place he had

Eisenhower had already accomplished a massive goal at the time he made this address, which
was to end the Korean War just months after his inauguration, and the majority of his time in
office was still ahead of him. Little did President Eisenhower know, these words would ring loud

How did I choose this question?
On the right is a mind map which I created in order to narrow down my topic and my question. I
combined both of my mind maps into one to save space. My topic started with just the capability,
ICT, particularly the Creating with ICT. From there, I narrowed it down to either a software or a
hardware project, because they are the main sections within computers. From software I had the
idea of either programing a game, programming a physics engine (program an object to respond
realistically to physics within a digital environment), or to program procedural generation (digitally
generating a random yet realistic landscape). From hardware I decided on either building a computer
cluster (Several computers linked which can then work as one) or to build a computer. From both
hardware and software, I had the idea to build my own gaming console with an Arduino (small
programmable circuit board), or to program an operating system for a Raspberry Pi (a single circuit

The master computer delegates tasks to different nodes, and then each node will send the data
back to the master. This is the same process which computers currently use when they contain
more than one processor, and is referred to as parallel processing. After the cluster has been built,
the efficiency will be measured by measuring physical dimensions, processing power, and power

societies and to develop a type of communication system and in a way help them to establish the
first trading system which in turn, was the fundamental factor to establish a communication
channel with other societies. For example, the article titled Mathematics in pre history says that
there is an archeological evidence which describe that they have used some kind of basic
mathematics as early as 30, 000 BCE, the article mentions that bone artifacts where discovered
that had use for reckoning time in sequences of numbers that agree with the number of days
included in successive phases of the moon . So, ancient math is an accepted fact, and maybe the
first method of counting was just a simple method like adding tow objects, or dividing food among
all the family members. Some scholars agree that they started counting by using their hands and
fingers, others say scientist say that the early man started counting by using sticks and stones.
However, we can only speculate on the effectiveness of these systems, but it is obvious that despite
being so simple it was an effective system for them.

A Speech On Bombay Poona Road
After he finished, he held me in his arms, his heavy lips like a hippopotamus arrested my lips,
took me to his bar room and opened a scotch, thereafter he started playing around with dirty
jokes, poked at me with his utterly foolish orgies, spin my nipples, glasses after glasses
continued making the rounds, I must appreciate he was a connoisseur of hard liquor, despite
getting drunk heavily, he had the courage to walk straight and not a word bubbled from his mouth.
It was well past 10:30 P.M, Bombay after a feverish day prepared to go for a sleep midst of cool
breeze. Looking through my half empty glass I proposed, Shouldn t we go for a long drive before
we take our dinner? He pondered for a moment and said, It will be fantastic,... Show more content

Blood oozed out like a big water dam splitting into two and the gushing water taking away with
force all it can find in its path. From top to bottom I was doused in a puddle of blood. A few
minutes later Jaywant stopped his taxi and I came shivering out of the car with the revolver in
my hand and boarded the taxi and asked him to take me to the hospital immediately. The
moment he saw me splashed with blood he lost his wits, his sound blew like a typhoon. His
reasoning and intellect took a straight nosedive and asked me with a bewildered eye, tongue in
cheek, what the hell you have done, murdered the minister, do you know how well connected he
is? I said, Jaywant, this not the ideal time to ask any questions, I will let you know everything
once I am out of the hospital. Now first arrange some water so that I can wash and change into
hospital clothes, let my all the clothes be consigned to flame and I am handing you with a
revolver and a dagger to keep safely with you . After going for some miles, he arranged four big
water bottles from a roadside hotel, at a secluded place I washed, changed my clothes and with
the help of petrol my all the clothes with blood marks were burnt. Jaywant cleared all the blood
stains in his taxi with his trembling hands and perhaps must, have hurled at me within his heart the
choicest abuses. He drove at a good speed and by 01:45 AM at night, I was in the hospital room
along with Jaywant. To hoodwink the hospital

Don Pedro And Don John Foil
In fiction, a foil is a character who contrasts with another character usually the protagonist in order
to highlight particular qualities of the other character. . In Much Ado About Nothing A character
named Don John tries to ruin Claudio and Hero s wedding. In this book there is a lot of confusion
and trickery and the other character must figure out Don John s plan before the wedding is ruined.
In the play Much Ado About Nothingby William Shakespeare, Don John and Don Pedro are foils
of each other because they have different views on life, different social status, and have different
personalities.
The reason Don pedro and Don john are foils of each other is because of the polar opposites of
social status. For Don Jon says I wonder that thou, being, as thou sayest thou art, born under Saturn,
goest about to apply a moral medicine to a mortifying mischief. I cannot hide what I am: I ... Show

Don John says There is no measure in the occasion that breeds; therefore the sadness is without
limit. (Shakespeare 13). Don john is explaining how miserable his life is and how he is sad. He
sees life as miserable and awful whilst, Don Pedro sees the world in an entirely different
way.For example he says This once, thou lovest, And I will fit thee with the remedy.I know we
shall have reveling tonight.I will assume thy part in some disguise And tell fair Hero I am
Claudio, And in her bosom I ll unclasp my heart And take her hearing prisoner with the force
And strong encounter of my amorous tale .(Shakespeare 11) In this part of the book Don Pedro
is going to help Claudio get hero. Because Don pedro is a good friend he helps Claudio this
shows he is happy with his life because he is helping others and has friends. Don John would
never have done that for Conrad and Borachio. These differences emphasizes the foil of Don John

Pgc Personal Statement
I am currently studying for a BA (Hons) in History at Sheffield Hallam University, and it is my
ambition to study for a Primary PGCE. I have always been interested in teaching and after
completing work experience at a nursery while in high school, I was eager to gain even more
classroom experience whilst at University. The time I have spent in a primary schoolwhile at
University has reinforced my desire to teach.
My experiences with children in Key Stage 1 have proved both rewarding and enlightening. In
particular, the time spent in the classroom allowed me to fully appreciate how much I enjoy
communicating with children at this level. The interaction allows discovery of their understanding,

What I observed was a teacher who made her class interactive and entertaining, as well as tasking,
which kept the children engaged and focused throughout all the activities. She gave the children a
chance to succeed by giving them different tasks to suit their intellectual ability. It was evident to
me that when children felt a task was achievable, they stayed focused and succeeded. In turn, this
was extremely confidence boosting. She had such a positive attitude towards her work and the
children, which provided a positive learning environment.
I have a passion for education and believe that teaching children at a primary level is extremely
rewarding as it is the initial step in transforming the lives of young people to prepare them for high
school, university and careers. I am looking forward to developing my knowledge of the

Disadvantages of World Trade Organization (Wto)
Disadvantages of World Trade Organization (WTO)
1. The WTO only serves the interests of transnational corporations
The WTO is as democratic as its member governments; and between the members it is ultra
democratic because decisions are taken by consensus all members have to be persuaded. The rules
are written by member governments, no one else has access to the negotiations. However,
governments, which are elected democratically by their citizens, do take into account the views of
various groups in their societies. How they do that is up to them and their citizens. Governments
regularly cite pressure from consumer, environmental, human rights and labor organizations, as
well as business. The structure of negotiations also helps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

7. The WTO undermines local development and penalizes poor countries
Most favored nation treatment means non discrimination between countries. Equal treatment is an
overwhelmingly important and useful principle for both fairness and efficiency. Most favored
nation does not mean treating all corporations equally. A government can reward or penalize
corporations, but the same criteria for doing this must normally apply to all foreign companies.
(There are some constraints on what those rules might say.)
8. The WTO is increasing inequality Free trade is not working for the majority of the world.
During a most recent period of rapid growth in global trade and investment 1960 to 1998 inequality
worsened both internationally and within countries. The UN Development Program reports that the
richest 20 percent of the world s population consume 86 percent of the world s resources while the
poorest 80 percent consume just 14 percent. WTO rules have hastened these trends by opening up
countries to foreign investment and thereby making it easier for production to go where the labor is
cheapest and most easily exploited and environmental costs are low. This pulls down wages and
environmental standards in developed countries that have to compete globally.
9. The WTO undermines national sovereignty By creating a supranational court system that has the
power to economically sanction countries to force them to comply with its rulings, the WTO has

Wiccans Goddess
Although some Wiccans focus on particular gods from particular world mythologies, Wiccans
may worship many gods and goddesses by many different names. Most worship some form of the
Great Goddess and Her consort, The Horned God. Such duo theistic forces are often conceived as
embodying complementary polarities, not in opposition. In some traditions worship of the Goddess
is emphasized, although in others the Goddess and Godare seen as complementary co equals. The
Goddess and God may be seen as associated with certain things (such as the Goddess with the earth
or moon, God with sun and wildlife, etc.), but there are no hard and fast rules. Some traditions
worship the Goddess alone while others see Divinity as essentially beyond human understanding,...

Some Wiccans conceive deities as similar to thought forms.
According to current Gardnerian Wiccans, the exact names of the Goddess and God of traditional
Wicca remain an initiatory secret, and they are not given in Gardner s books about witchcraft.
However, the collection of Toronto Papers of Gardner s writings has been investigated by
American scholars such as Aidan Kelly, leading to the suggestion that their names are Cernunnos
and Aradia. These are the names used in the prototype Book of Shadows known as Ye Bok of Ye
Arte Magickal.
For most Wiccans, the Lord and Lady are seen as complementary polarities: male and female,
force and form, comprehending all in their union; the tension and interplay between them is the
basis of all creation, and this balance is seen in much of nature. The God and Goddess are
sometimes symbolized as the Sun and Moon, and from her lunar associations the Goddess
becomes a Triple Goddess with aspects of Maiden , Mother and Crone corresponding to the Moon s
waxing, full and waning

Stereotypes In The Film Bran Nue Dae
Bran Nue Dae purposefully represents Catholics in a negative light, using specific film codes to
persuade the viewer to see them as the villains of Bran Nue Dae. They are stereotyped as
disciplined, committed and vindictive for the duration of the film. When Willie first arrives at
school, the camera zooms in while non diegetic horror music plays and a dark light is cast over
the school. Technical codes such as these present the school as menacing and eerie and help the
audience to see the school and Catholics as Willie does a sort of own personal horror movie.
Similarly, the audience is also influenced to feel frightened by the Catholic school and Benedictus.

The Change Management Model And Kotter s 8 Step Model
Academics such as Lewin and Kotter have outlined frameworks which fellow re searchers can
refer to when trying to implement organisational change successful ly. Although there are many
theories regarding change management, this research will focus Lewin s change management
model and Kotter s 8 step model. 3.1 Lewin change model The force field analysis by Lewin
(1951) demonstrates that there are three neces sary processes which organisation need to
consider when processing or imple menting change. The force field analysis aims to investigate
the balance of power between the driving forces of change and the resisting force or barriers to
success ful change implementation. It argues that there is a need to identify the key players
involved in the decision making and identify methods to influence those against change (Wagner
et al. 2011). The term force refer to any factor that has the potential of affecting the change
process within the organisation (Schwering, 2003). The three processes are specifically known
as Unfreeze stage, Change stage and final ly Refreezing stage. The unfreezing stage can be
regarded to some degree as a pre stage to change. The point of this stage is to get ready people to
change and making the organisation prepared to move from the present position to the new sought
one. Since amid the unfreezing stage people could feel the present state of affairs debilitated, it is
urgent that the greater part of the representatives get to be mindful from the

Bronfenbrenner s Social Ecological Model
Introduction
The social ecological perspective is seen as a dynamic process in the development of people. The
focus of the social ecological model is the interaction between the person and environment. The
fundamental assumption is that behaviour is the result of the interaction between individuals and
the contexts they are exposed to. (Visser, 2007, p. 103) Personality characteristics and behaviour
develop in that interaction process. However psychological and biological factors do play an
important role in this process. The personality development is mainly determined by the interaction
between psychological, biological and environmental factors. (Moen, Elder, Luscher, 1995) There
are various theories about the social ecological development of people. One of them is Urie
Bronfenbrenner social ecological model. In this assessment I will be discussing Bronfenbrenners
social ecological model and its relevance to my own life. I will explore the ecological model in
terms of my own childhood and will discuss the impact it has on the distinctiveness in the South
African context.

Comparison Carree And Gallier Hall
Maison Carree and Gallier Hall
Architecture should not be seen as representing a magical transition from the worldly to the
heavenly, as had been implied by the Baroque Style, but rather as a medium that told nothing less
than the story of the origins of mankind. (Ching 610) These words, as argued by Marc Antoine
Laugier, perfectly demonstrates Thomas Jefferson s intentions in the design of the Virginia State
Capitole Building, and subsequently in the design of Gallier Hall in New Orleans, Lousiana. His
intention was to boost America s morale by likening the young nation to the powerful Greek
democracy, the first democracy. The Capitole building, modeled after Maison Carree, a Roman
temple of antiquity, planted the seeds for the birth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

War On The Battle Field And The Return Home
Danfung Dennis perfectly portrayed the difficulties of war on the battle field and the return home
in Hell and Back Again . Following a wounded solider throughout his tour in Afghanistan as well
as his first few months back home shines light on the hardship that these soldiers go through while
serving their country. This film takes a look inside the nightmares of war on the battle field and in
the heads of the soldiers that come home. Sending men and women into war not only has a
damaging physical effect, but also has a devastating mental effect as well.
Sergeant Nathan Harris served two tours in the Echo Company 2nd Battalion 8th Regiment of the
US Marine Corp. In the summer of 2009, when the fighting was at its highest ever since the first
initial attack, he was severely wounded and relieved of his duties. Once he is sent home he is left
to deal with the physical pain and hardship of rehabbing his broken hip. Along with the physical
pain, he fights to keep his mental health stable as well. Struggling with the effects of war on his
brain alongside the struggle of taking handfuls of narcotics each day without becoming dependent
on them. His story is just a glimpse of what thousands of men and women deal with after returning
home from the battlefield.
It s no secret that our government has sent men and women into the battle field to return in pieces,
if not in a wooden box. We have all seen the images and heard the stories of our wounded warriors

Discuss the reasons why the research and development of anti retroviral drugs (ARVs) has
impacted differently on people suffering from HIV/AIDS in developed and developing world
HIV/AIDS still does not have a know cure, but has a treatment that slows down the affects of HIV
/AIDS which is called ARV (anti retroviral drug)
The ARV drug is a very exclusive drug because as it is very expensive, around $400 a month if not
more depending on which stage you are in, and that is a huge dilemma because many people cannot
afford to pay that amount of money so they are not able to receive the treatment.

In Africa the education is something that not everyone gets, so they are not aware about how
they get the disease, how they can prevent it or what are the affects. A reason for why in Africa
they do not receive the education is because there are a very few amount of teachers, and the
teachers that they have may also be contaminated and are not able to execute their job correctly.
HIV/AIDS affects everyone in their community because the disease spreads fast in their case (the
people in Africa). This is due to their sexual behavior.
Their culture does not have monogamy or a custom of only one sexual partner, but they have
many different sexual partners, and that is why HIV/AIDS spreads so quickly in Africa. They
also do not use protection because it is not available to most people and so chances are higher to
get HIV/AIDS. Another cultural aspect is that there is a lot of prejudice against testing. Many
people do not want to get tested for HIV/AIDS because one, they are scared the test might come
back positive, second if it does result positive how will they tell their family/friends and thirdly
how will they get the treatment they need to get. If the people get tested and do want to not tell
anyone, because of various reasons, and as a result the problem amplifies and does not get solved.
Another problem for the cultural aspect is get the people to take responsibility and try to change.
Of coarse it is easier to ignore the problem and pretend it is not there, but

The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Robert Lewis Stevenson
The doctrine that there are two independent divine beings or eternal principles, one good and the

attempting to portray as one of the biggest themes in the book The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and
Mr.Hyde Robert Lewis Stevenson. Dualism and the idea of duality are the main theme I would
like to focus on in this essay. In reality, the duality of man is often analyzed as merely a
possibility. We tryto investigate this facet of human behavior and spend much time trying to
determine the ways that a dual personality can affect people. Today s movies and literature deal

Comparing Anne Peter And The Anne Frank Book And Play
Book or Play? There s always differences and similarities between them both, in this essay I will
compare and contrast the Anne Frank book and the Anne Frank play. The book is an emotional,
well narrated story written by Anne Frank, and the play is also an emotional, well performed
story based on Anna Franks book. This story is about a 13 year old girl whom grew up during
the Holocaust, and her journey throughout it. She talks about living in the Secret Annexe and the
different relationships she built with the seven other people living with her whether it be good
or bad. In each paragraph I will be explaining the differences and similarities from traits of both
the play and the book. First I will talk about Peter and Anne, in the play Peter and Anne s first
impressions were that they disliked each other because there personalities were polar opposite,
Anne is a very talkative, energetic girl and Peter is a shy, introverted boy. Some differences
between the book and the play is Peter is a very kind, clumsy kid in the book but, in the play he
s a fiery hot headed kid. Also Anne is more disrespectful and rude to her parents and the other
adults in the play, but in the book she keeps more of her anger towards her mom and the other
adults to herself, she doesn t really disrespect them as much. Some similarities of Peter in the
book and the play is, that he tries to shy away from everyone and keep to himself and he really
only plays with his cat Mouchi or talks to Anne. Some

  • 2. Analysis Of Pushing Thirty By Jody Paulsen According to Elle magazine (February 22, 2017), Jody Paulsen describes his artwork as a millennial approach to becoming an adult , hence the name of his outstanding exhibition, Pushing Thirty . His unique artwork of text, colour, pattern, imagery and texture, embodies a perfect balance between optimism versus reality. One can view his incredible work at the SMAC gallery in the heart of Cape Town s artistic Woodstock area. The artist and fashion designer, Jody Paulsen, perfectly controls how he expresses his not so typical coming of age story, through the use of bold statements, challenging stereotypes, vibrant colour and his main use of the unconventional material, felt, provides a clear and common thread that runs through the exhibition. Furthermore, Jody makes use of a variety of conceptualised images and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It shows a sense of beauty and freedom with an endless potential of what one can become. However, I did find the photographic work a bit disheartening as I feel it was a summary of Paulsen s work which in reality has a much more deeper and personal meaning. It was more of an overview, which consequently does not show the individual style of the artwork. In conclusion, his works give off a bold, dramatic statement of socio political and cultural issues that has personal meaning, identity and freedom, but consequently, may also be viewed to some as an IN YOUR FACE exaggeration. This however, does not undermine Jody s works and his ability to put himself out there through his art. Thus the exhibition, Pushing Thirty is all about the issues and experiences in Jody s life that has shaped who he is today. He is the subject of his artwork. For that reason he can freely express himself through is magnificent pieces that leaves a long lasting explosion of an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of The Story The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber I HAVE READ THE STORY the short happy life of Francis Macomber, and I m going to give my assessment of the book. This really isn t a happy story. I will tell what I think of the characters the setting and plot of the story. Let s start with one of the main characters, Robert Wilson. Robert Wilson ... Wilson, a professional safari guide and hunter, is the strong courageous rugged blue eyed white man that had made a home for himself in Africa with the Zimbabwe people. His profession was showing wealthy Americans how to hunt for big game animals such as lions, impalas and buffalo. In some sense Wilson was a little cocky and arrogant, because his clients didn t know that he was quite intelligent and spent time in the military before going to Africa. He was also A real lady s man, and a man s man also. This is probably why Ernest Hemingway really connected with this character, thus I think making him really opinionated. Frances Macomber. Now Frances Macomber is a well groomed physically fit man (especially for his age) looking more like a younger man in his twenties than his thirtyish age and wealthy. He is also Well educated and great at gentleman sports, like big game fishing. Margret Margot memsahib Macomber ... the wife of Frances Macomber. A very beautiful and elegant woman. However, she is kind of a femme fatale type. she is a philander of sorts, she has cheated on Macomber not once, but several times to be exact. Margot doesn t love her husband, she loves her husband s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analyzing Paul Walker s Obituary My Obituary Analysis When I think about the qualities of an effective obituary, three things come to mind. The obituary is bound to be a factual notice of death that includes all the basics about the person: their birth date, death date, home town, parents, children, and information about their career. This is the framework that makes up an obituary and is the most significant portion of it. Secondly, it is imperative that the obituary lists the person s major achievements in life. Lastly, the obituary should conform to its audience. The families of the deceased benefit from a kind portrayal of their loved one with highlights from their life. In contrast, a stranger reading it would be more entertained by the obituary if it was blunt when talking about the person s life. Therefore, an obituary writer should find a balance between discussing the person s successes and failures. Paul Walker s obituary is effective because it is factual and portrays his accomplishments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, it describes Walker as slim, slick and blue eyed (Gilbey 1). The obituary provides a detailed description of his roles in the Fast and Furious movies and includes quotes from him on what he thought about making the movies. This allows readers that did not know him as well to get a glimpse of what it was like for him to star in one of the most popular movie series to date. In short, Walker s obituary connects readers to what his life was like. Furthermore, the obituary discusses Walker s major achievements in his acting career. He appeared in TV shows in the 90 s, but the wildly popular Fast and Furious movies are what launched his career. As the obituary states, Though he had shown promise in his early film roles, he could easily have become just another piece of well dressed eye candy had it not been for his involvement in the colossally successful Fast and Furious franchise, which has grossed $2.38bn worldwide to date (Gilbey ... Rodriguez The Need for Network Security The primary objective with this paper deals with how network security systems protect, detect, adapt, recover and/or reconfigured from anomalies in order to provide some desired level of security services. This paper is a strategy for the development of a general security mechanism /countermeasure valuation scheme. The general objective addresses the question, Given the value of information to be protected and the threat environment, how strong and assured should security mechanism(s) be to provide desired security services(s)? They can create new electronic files, run their own programs, and hide evidence of their unauthorized activity. [BAR96] Why the Internet is Vulnerable In the beginning network protocols that formed part of the Internet infrastructure were designed without security in mind. Without a fundamentally secure infrastructure, network defense becomes more difficult. Furthermore, the Internet is an extremely dynamic environment in terms of both topology and emerging technology. [COH95] First, because of the inherent openness of the Internet and the original design of the protocols, Internet attacks in general are quick, easy, inexpensive, and may be hard to detect or trace. [KRO92] Second, many sites place unwarranted trust in the Internet. It is common for sites to be unaware of the risks or unconcerned about the amount of the trust they place in the Internet. Third, much of the traffic on the Internet is not encrypted, confidentiality and integrity are difficult to achieve. This situation undermines not only applications (such as financial applications that are network based) but also more fundamental mechanisms such as authentication and no repudiation. Fourth, another factor contributing to the vulnerability of the Internet is the rapid growth and use of the network, accompanied by rapid deployment of the network services involving complex applications. Often these services are not designed, configured, or maintained

  • 7. Immigration And Immigration The debates over immigration and immigration policy did not develop in recent memory. In fact, one could argue that the debates over this issue date back to antiquity. During Biblical times people did not agree with each other regarding immigration. Even the authors of the Scriptures had different opinions about immigration. Matthew and Paul are two New Testament authors who each discuss the topic of immigration in their writings. Matthew did so in the second chapter of his Gospel, and Paul, in the thirteenth chapter of his letter to the Romans. In the Gospel of Matthew, the author discusses the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people could argue that this story is an argument in favor of lenient immigration policies and international laws, especially those regarding refugees and asylum. Matthew mentions the dream that Joseph had about an angel of the Lord (Matthew 2:13) telling him to flee to Egypt with his wife and their new baby because King Herod was searching for baby Jesus in order to kill him since Herod did not want to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. This dream conversation is important because part of the context of Matthew is trying to convince people that Jesus is the Messiah. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees defines a refugee as someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. (UNHCR) An asylum seeker, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, is defined as a person who flees their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Big Lebowski Analysis After hearing about The Big Lebowski years back from a fellow sailor while stationed in Pearl Harbor and how he enjoyed going to The Lebowski fest, I ve wanted to watch this movie and now that I have I regret not watching it sooner. I have to say that this movie quickly became one of my favorites while John Goodman s character Walter reminded me of many of my military friends. The Big Lebowski is full of some great laughs and many, many quotable moments. I will say that after hearing from multiple friends that this was a great movie I was a bit skeptical because I m not that big of a fan of the films that the Coen brothers direct, they just aren t my cup of tea. • 10. Mcdonald s A Competitive Advantage SYNOPSIS In the United States, the fast food market provides consumers quick meals at a reasonable cost. It has grown significantly in recent years with an 8.7% average annual growth rate throughout the 1980 s. The concept of the industry, providing healthy alternatives to traditional fast food and being environmentally sound is the latest example how consumers affect the industry. The companies must be able to change very quickly in order to meet these customer demands and the changing environment while still conforming to its strategy. • 13. The Humanity of Achilles Essay As George Eliot once said, It is a narrow mind which cannot look at a subject from various points of view. Whether viewing a piece of artwork or another person, there are often many points of view to evaluate in order to find the true core of the subject. In great works of literature, authors often create complex and dynamic characters to add depth and meaning into the story. In the Iliad, Homer beautifully depicts the multifaceted character of Achillesas an epic hero. As readers look closely at Achilles, he reveals different sides of himself as the epic poem develops. Representing the struggle between his dominant, selfish, and Dionysian nature as an epic hero and his hidden empathetic Apollonian core, Achilles reveals the mythos of... Achilles also consistently shows another Dionysian trait throughout the Iliad: the seeking of revenge. In the Iliad Patroclus, a trusted friend of Achilles goes to fight against Hector while Achilles is away from the war. Ultimately, Patroclus is murdered by Hector on the battlefield and Achilles greatly mourns him (Homer 16.77 867). Achilles was deeply saddened by the death of his beloved comrade and grief took hold of [him] (Hamilton 197). Representing Sigmund Freud s principle of homo lomini lupus or man is a wolf to man, Achilles wants to avenge his friend s life by murdering the one who murdered him. Mankind has the tendency to do unto others as others have done unto them. Hector killed Patroclus but Achilles is blind to his motives as to why. He doesn t see that Hector killed Patroclus in self defense during a battle but he only views Hector as a murderer. The blindness with which Achilles acts shows an immense force working in Achilles. According to Simone Weil force is that x that turns anybody who is subjected to it into a thing (Benfey,82). In this case the force that acts on Achilles is the degrading force of anger due to war. The war has stripped Achilles of his humanity and ability to act rationally. If Achilles continues to behave primarily in a Dionysian way, he will become the cause of his own ultimate detriment. ... Furthermore, since the arrival of humans in Australia, one of the main sources of obtaining food was hunting mega faunas, which substantially decreased their number and led to their extinction. Shades of a White Man What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god. (Shakespeare) Humans were born pure, humble and humane. Politics, science, conflicts and the innate desire for dominance change who we are, and who we ultimately aspire to be. The culture we are born into, too, affects who we are in a rather dramatic way; it contributes significantly in writing the script of a person s life. George Orwell was born into a culture of white men, a culture that believes in dominance and superiority, a culture that steps on whoever stands in its way. Imperialism was that culture; the culture that Orwell was influenced by, and suffered from. From my perspective, I believe that even though George Orwell claimed that he was against the imperialist, British culture; I was all for the Burmese and against their oppressors, the British (Orwell, Shooting an Elephant, par. 2), he was an imperialist in disguise, and had always been one. He was a unique imperialist, one who had morals and ethical obligations, which seemingly resulted in his lifelong misery, since it would not naturally align with the culture he belongs to. Tennessee used different reference to show how the men are described in, A Streetcar Named Desire. Alphas are always the first or leaders in the group. While betas back the alphas up and got their backs. And last are omegas they are the loser. Betas are more anti and careless of what others care, they don t care what others think. Antwerp, 1640) was a Flemish painter revered as the most versatile and influential baroque artist of Northern Europe in the 17th century. Rubens s art emphasizes the theory of artistic imitation, and blends features of the Italian High Renaissance and Northern realism with elements from antiquity. Rubens specialized in making altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and history paintings of mythological and allegorical subjects. In his painting Venus and Adonis, mid 1630s, Rubens juxtaposed Ovid s Metamorphoses (book X) and Titian s Venus and Adonis, 1553 1554, to generate his own invention that relies on his theories of artistic imitation. Rubens painting is predominantly influenced by, but not modeled after Titian s piece, which he copied in Madrid in 1629. Rubens was born in the German town of Siegen, in Westphalia. His father, Jan Rubens, a lawyer and alderman of Antwerp, had fled the Spanish Netherlands in 1568 with his wife, Maria Pypelinckx, and four children to escape religious persecution for his Calvinist beliefs. After Jan s death in 1587, the family returned to Antwerp, where young Peter Paul, raised in his mother s Roman Catholic faith, and received a classical education. Gene Expression Of Soybeans ( Glycine Max ) Gene Expression of Soybeans (Glycine max) in Response to Bacterial Inoculants, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium under abiotic Stress (heat condition) in Glycine max Proposal by Noor Sairafi and Dr. Sue Hum Musser Western Illinois University, Department of Biology Abstract Several microorganisms have the ability to promote plant growth and produce compounds which are known to stimulate plant defenses by inducing systemic resistance (ISR) in attacked plants (1). Bacillus species are commonly used in formulating microbial fertilizers due to their rapid beneficial effects in colonizing plant root and establishing Rhizobia bacteria mutualism inside their root structure. In this paper research, I will observe this unique interaction by examining the gene expression of soybeans (Glycine max) and their response to bio inoculants under a heat stress. I will use four different treatments: control, Defensor, Rhizoboost, Defensor and Rhizobium, and Rhizoboost and Rhizobium. Once the infected seeds germinate, I will incubate soybean seeds at 25 oC and 37 oC for approximately 16 hours followed by grinding seeds for RNA purification. Gene expression data will be then obtained and collected via qPCR analysis followed by microarray analysis for more data confirmation. Additionally, a two way ANOVA and a Tukey s multiple comparison test will be used to determine the significance of the data. The term paper is about synchronous and asynchronous circuits and their differences. The advantages and disadvantages of both synchronous and asynchronous circuits are discussed further. Digital circuits and sequential circuits are also described in brief at the beginning of the report. The clock gating, self clock gating and clock signals are explained. Further, the sequential machines moore and mealy are discussed along with their differences and variations. In the end, the differences between the two types of circuits are highlighted. Also, the term paper is summed with a conclusion in the end. What are digital circuits? Those circuits wherever the signal should be one in every of 2 distinct levels is referred to as digital circuit. Every level is taken into account jointly of 2 completely different states. Example on/off, 0/1, true/false etc. In comparison to analog circuits, digital circuits are less susceptible to noise or degradation in quality, additionally the errors are detected and corrected simply with the assistance of digital signals. (Ching 610) These words, as argued by Marc Antoine Laugier, perfectly demonstrates Thomas Jefferson s intentions in the design of the Virginia State Capitole Building, and subsequently in the design of Gallier Hall in New Orleans, Lousiana. His intention was to boost America s morale by likening the young nation to the powerful Greek democracy, the first democracy. The Capitole building, modeled after Maison Carree, a Roman temple of antiquity, planted the seeds for the birth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Western Europe. • 53. War On The Battle Field And The Return Home Danfung Dennis perfectly portrayed the difficulties of war on the battle field and the return home in Hell and Back Again . Following a wounded solider throughout his tour in Afghanistan as well as his first few months back home shines light on the hardship that these soldiers go through while serving their country. This film takes a look inside the nightmares of war on the battle field and in the heads of the soldiers that come home. Sending men and women into war not only has a damaging physical effect, but also has a devastating mental effect as well. Sergeant Nathan Harris served two tours in the Echo Company 2nd Battalion 8th Regiment of the US Marine Corp. In the summer of 2009, when the fighting was at its highest ever since the first initial attack, he was severely wounded and relieved of his duties. Once he is sent home he is left to deal with the physical pain and hardship of rehabbing his broken hip. Along with the physical pain, he fights to keep his mental health stable as well. Struggling with the effects of war on his brain alongside the struggle of taking handfuls of narcotics each day without becoming dependent on them. His story is just a glimpse of what thousands of men and women deal with after returning home from the battlefield. It s no secret that our government has sent men and women into the battle field to return in pieces, if not in a wooden box. We have all seen the images and heard the stories of our wounded warriors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christine Carraro 10B Biology Discuss the reasons why the research and development of anti retroviral drugs (ARVs) has impacted differently on people suffering from HIV/AIDS in developed and developing world HIV/AIDS still does not have a know cure, but has a treatment that slows down the affects of HIV /AIDS which is called ARV (anti retroviral drug) The ARV drug is a very exclusive drug because as it is very expensive, around $400 a month if not more depending on which stage you are in, and that is a huge dilemma because many people cannot afford to pay that amount of money so they are not able to receive the treatment. If people in the first world countries cannot receive the drug, how do people in the third world receive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Africa the education is something that not everyone gets, so they are not aware about how they get the disease, how they can prevent it or what are the affects. A reason for why in Africa they do not receive the education is because there are a very few amount of teachers, and the teachers that they have may also be contaminated and are not able to execute their job correctly. HIV/AIDS affects everyone in their community because the disease spreads fast in their case (the people in Africa). This is due to their sexual behavior. Their culture does not have monogamy or a custom of only one sexual partner, but they have many different sexual partners, and that is why HIV/AIDS spreads so quickly in Africa. They also do not use protection because it is not available to most people and so chances are higher to get HIV/AIDS. Another cultural aspect is that there is a lot of prejudice against testing. Many people do not want to get tested for HIV/AIDS because one, they are scared the test might come back positive, second if it does result positive how will they tell their family/friends and thirdly how will they get the treatment they need to get. If the people get tested and do want to not tell anyone, because of various reasons, and as a result the problem amplifies and does not get solved. Another problem for the cultural aspect is get the people to take responsibility and try to change. Of coarse it is easier to ignore the problem and pretend it is not there, but ... • 55. The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Robert Lewis Stevenson The doctrine that there are two independent divine beings or eternal principles, one good and the other evil. This definition of dualism and duality provide a great foundation to what I am attempting to portray as one of the biggest themes in the book The Strange Case of Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde Robert Lewis Stevenson. Dualism and the idea of duality are the main theme I would like to focus on in this essay. In reality, the duality of man is often analyzed as merely a possibility. We tryto investigate this facet of human behavior and spend much time trying to determine the ways that a dual personality can affect people. Today s movies and literature deal with the possibility of a good and evil twin residing in the same body, sometimes in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Barnes and Noble Strategic Audit Strategic Analysis: Barnes Noble Executive Summary Barnes Noble is a key player in the Book Retail Industry. This mature industry has been experiencing slow growth over the last several years, much slower than overall retail sales. Barriers to entry into this industry are quite high, and suppliers have modest influence over booksellers. The introduction of the Internet has brought about many changes to this industry. It has increased rivalry, buyer power, and substitutes. Spending time surfing the net is one of many substitutes to reading books nowadays. Other technological advances, such as VCR s and video games, have replaced time otherwise spent reading. Buyers have greater influence over the industry, because they... Total bookstore sales for 1997 were $12.5 billion. Industry surveys indicate that the four largest chains accounted for approximately 45.2% of total sales in 1997. #61490; According to the 1997 Consumer Research Study on Book Purchasing, book purchases per U.S. household grew just 0.6 percent from 1996 to 1997. During the same period, the U.S. population grew approximately 1 percent. This statistic shows that the U.S. book market is growing slower than the population. #61491; The 1998 Consumer Research Study on Book Purchasing found that as the American economy thrives and sets impressive new growth records, growth in book sales continues to slow. This survey found that it was the upper income ( $75,000) professional households, also the heaviest book buyers, who are most responsible for the drop in unit sales. According to the Book Industry Study Group, the study suggests that the book industry appears to react counter cyclically to the overall economy. In good times, consumers may spend their disposable income on other forms of entertainment or on more expensive durable goods. This study also revealed that 1.9 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Comparing Anne Peter And The Anne Frank Book And Play Book or Play? There s always differences and similarities between them both, in this essay I will compare and contrast the Anne Frank book and the Anne Frank play. The book is an emotional, well narrated story written by Anne Frank, and the play is also an emotional, well performed story based on Anna Franks book. This story is about a 13 year old girl whom grew up during the Holocaust, and her journey throughout it. She talks about living in the Secret Annexe and the different relationships she built with the seven other people living with her whether it be good or bad. In each paragraph I will be explaining the differences and similarities from traits of both the play and the book. First I will talk about Peter and Anne, in the play Peter and Anne s first impressions were that they disliked each other because there personalities were polar opposite, Anne is a very talkative, energetic girl and Peter is a shy, introverted boy. Some differences between the book and the play is Peter is a very kind, clumsy kid in the book but, in the play he s a fiery hot headed kid. Also Anne is more disrespectful and rude to her parents and the other adults in the play, but in the book she keeps more of her anger towards her mom and the other adults to herself, she doesn t really disrespect them as much. Some similarities of Peter in the book and the play is, that he tries to shy away from everyone and keep to himself and he really only plays with his cat Mouchi or talks to Anne. Some ...
