Global Business Barriers
Global business is defined as the buying and selling of goods and services by people from different
countries (McWilliams Williams 2010). It also has to do with international trade and trade agreements.
Corporations that own businesses in two or more countries are called multinational corporations
(McWilliams Williams 2010). Most of these global businesses main headquarters are found in the
United States or the United Kingdom. Expanding to a global market is quite a complex process and
businesses have to take many different aspects into account such as: social/cultural, legal, political,
economic, environmental and technological factors. These components help create an attractive
business climate. Different businesses operate differently to assess these relevant factors. Strict Import
export rules and regulations also need to be followed. Entering the global market also allows for larger
competition between other similar businesses and to create trade agreements. There are many rules
and regulations when entering into the global market and with each country having different
requirements you must fulfil. These must be followed or the business cannot enter into business in that
country. Global businesses have trade barriers, which are government imposed regulations that
increase the cost and restrict the number of imported goods (McWilliams Williams 2010). Different
types of trade barriers include tariff and also non tariff barriers such as: quotas, voluntary

1 Corinthians Authorship
The date and authorship of 1 Corinthians, in general, is highly uncontested. Most biblical scholars are
comfortable setting the probable date for the writing of 1 Corinthians at 54 56 A.D. and the author as
the apostle Paul. There is a lot of support in the Bible and also historical reinforcement that uphold
this date and authorship for the book of 1 Corinthians. The only major area of contention in regards to
the letter of 1 Corinthians is in its integrity. Some scholars would argue that the letter is a combination
of multiple letters written by Paul that over time were stitched together to form 1 Corinthians, while
others would propose that Paul wrote the letter over an extended period as he received new
information about what was happening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was written while Paul was in Ephesus. Paul had spent approximately eighteen months in 50 to 51
A.D. in the city of Corinth, where he was instrumental in starting up the Corinthian church. This was
one of the longest times he spent with a church during his missionary journeys. After leaving the
Corinthian church, Paul stayed in contact with them. The letters of 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians are
not the only correspondence that transpired between Paul and the church, though they are the only two
letters that are still in existence today. Scholars are confident there were at least four letters, with 1
Corinthians being the second letter Paul sent. The first letter is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 5: 9 10.
The third letter was sent between 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. It is mentioned in 2 Corinthians 2:
4 11 and 2 Corinthians 7: 5 13. Paul also communicated with the Corinthian church through
messengers, who kept him informed over what was transpiring in the church body. He also made
another trip to visit the church, stayed with them for three months, and then made his way to
Jerusalem with the offering he had collected for the Jerusalem

Public Order Crimes
Assignment #4 Ingrid Victorero
1. What are public order crimes, and how are they different from violent and property crimes? Explain
how moral entrepreneurship affects the public perception of morality and thus the creation of new
public order crimes.
Answer:
Public order crimes are crimes against the public consensus of morality. Sometimes public order
crimes are called victimless crimes, as there is no clear victim that can be identified. A crime against
the public order is quite different than a crime against a person. Violent and property crimes are a
direct victimization against a person. The victim has been affected by violence and the act has caused
a loss of something of value. Moral entrepreneurs can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, victimless crimes are often called consensual crimes. One common example of a
victimless crime is prostitution. Offering sexual favors in exchange for money is considered a crime in
many places. Both the solicitor and the prostitute can be arrested for violating public decency laws. If,
however, both parties are deemed to have committed the illegal act consensually, then neither party
may be considered victims in the eyes of the law. Prostitution is often not a free choice. Prostitution is
usually accompanied by forms of force or enslavement Most prostitutes use drugs regularly. Addiction
means they must stay to pay for drugs. Pimping, gangsterism; runaway girls to cities or immigrants
who are promised good jobs. Often, the initial loss of innocence was forced by sexual abuse / rape.
Street prostitution becomes trafficking when a pimp uses force, fraud and/or coercion to maintain
control over the person providing commercial sexual services and cause the person to engage in
commercial sex acts. An individual engaged in street prostitution under the age of 18 is considered a
victim of sex trafficking regardless of the presence of force, fraud or coercion. Unfortunately, when
purchasing a prostitute, many buyers don t think about the serious consequences that come with street
sex. Sexually transmitted disease, infidelity, violence, thefts and many crimes take place with the
average prostitute exchange. Wives, husbands and innocent

The Progressive Era And The New Deal
Despite existing during two different times in the history of the United States, it can be argued that the
New Deal reforms reflected the reform traditions of the Progressive Era. When examining the New
Deal, Progressive influence is evident based first off of the social and political issues addressed by
reforms. Second, the reforms from the two times themselves are uncannily similar, again due to the
focus on the same problems existing in the United States. In addition to this, the icing on the cake is
found when examining President Roosevelt s administration during the New Deal, a majority of which
were intelligent Progressive reformers during the Progressive Era. Because of this, the New Deal
reflected the reform traditions of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite having differentiating reasons behind their reforms, the New Deal and the Progressive Era
focused on the same issues, which is evident in the similarity of their reforms. As we already know
from the aforementioned information, both the Progressive Era and New Deal had a focus on similar
issues, specifically the rights of laborers, the improvement and expansion of public facilities, and the
limitations of corporate power. Reforms during the Progressive era reflected these values, as seen in
the work accomplished by Samuel Jones, President Taft, and President Wilson. Jones, a Progressive
mayor in Toledo, Ohio ...founded night schools and free kindergartens, built new parks, and supported
the right of workers to unionize (Give Me Liberty 699) in an effort to improve public resources.
President Taft one of the presidents during the Progressive era implemented antitrust laws which
attacked corporations influence by limiting the power of the wealthy, either through taxation or
prosecution of antitrust violators. In addition to this, President Wilson reinforced antitrust laws while
passing legislation which empowered laborers through exempting labor unions from antitrust laws,
banning child labor in certain labor markets, and enforcing an eight hour work day on the nation s
railroads. Coincidentally, the New

Pros And Cons Of Assisted Suicide
Debate Paper
On the positive side of assisted suicide, it is strongly believed that the right to assisted suicide allows
the terminally ill to have a clean and fair death. No one wants to live with pain and sorrow. From their
perspective, doctor s help the suffering and terminally ill to die when they choose is nothing wrong.
From what they had argued, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution allows people the
right to freedom of speech, press, petition, religion. With this logic, it would be reasonable to believe
that you are allowed to have the right to die. The right to assisted suicide can help the patients with the
terminally ill to release from pain and suffering, reduce the damaging financial effects of hospital care
on their families, and preserve the individual right of people to determine their own fate.
However, on the negative side of the assisted suicide debate, It is argued that a physician s goal is to
help their patient get the proper care and help they need in order to get better and heal; it should not be
through killing them. From Procon.org, In Compassion in Dying v. State of Washington, it was stated
that physician assisted suicides acts as a slippery slope to those who aren t terminally ill and will take
advantage of it. Once we allow assisted suicides, it opens the way to offering it to people who are no
longer mentally competent. And then to people who are in distress but not terminally ill. So this is
saying that if anyone suffered

The Characteristics Of A Leader In Mala Yousafzai s...
A leader, in simplest terms is someone who believes strongly in something, so much so that they can
motivate others to participate in a seek for change. First, a good leader must be compassionate, and
believe in their cause no matter how hard it gets to achieve any change. In addition, one must be
persistent, and ready to sacrifice themselves and things they care about most. Lastly, a leader must be
educated, and know exactly who they are fighting for, why it would be beneficial to seek change, and
the effect their cause would have. In Malala Yousafzai s own autobiography, it is clear that she fits all
of these qualities,https://www.grammarly.com/blog/comma before and/ and many more, which is why

must have all of these characteristics, and Malala Yousafzai is a perfect example of what it means to
be an impactful leader. Being compassionate towards those who would benefit from a cause, and
caring about the effect of one s work is very important in becoming a great leader. It is evident that
Malala cares about all different kinds of people, no matter their race or religion. In her autobiography,

What Role Does Diophantus Play In The Evolution Of Algebra
Algebra is the basis of all math and its advancement took place in three major steps. The first stage of
algebra is rhetorical algebra dating back to before 275 BCE. Rhetorical algebra was a form of algebra
that contained no symbols so to them +, , and*, did not exist. It was usually explained orally or written
on scribes. They were able to do things such as find squad and cubed roots, solve linear equations, and
explain fractions. As well as recognizing irrational numbers and identifying that quadratics had two
answers. The next phase in algebra s evolution was Syncopated math. This was most popularly used
between 275 BCE 1600. Diophantus played a crucial role in this stage by being the first to develop
algebraic notations and abbreviations.

Are We Raising A Generation Of Helpless Children Summary
Is there such thing as being too protective of your child? There comes a point where parents have to
let their children grow up on their own and make mistakes, but it seems parents now are raising a
generation full of helpless children. Helicopter parenting is being a way of parenting that everyone
seems in on, but what the parents are understanding is that keeping children sheltered from the real
world and mistakes can damage them in the future. In the article Are We Raising a Generation of
Helpless Kids? by Mickey Goodman discusses how helicopter parenting is holding children back from
their full potential. In another article No, Helicopter parents aren t ruining kids after all by Valerie
Strauss, goes on the other side of helicopter parenting by discussing how this form of parenting is not

Being a child of a helicopter parent, I don t believe that having a helicopter parent made me dependent
on my mom, if anything I ve distanced myself so that I can have more independence. My mom means
well she just wants to protect my sisters and I, but how does she expect us to learn if we never get hurt
or fail? The effects of helicopter parenting, in my experience, is distancing so that we can do what we
want. Rebelling from parents is another effect, again because of the need for independence. I do think
that if parents are willing to do their child s homework and projects then they might as well let them
live at home for the rest of their lives because once someone experiences that kind of sheltering they
aren t going to want to do work for themselves if they know their parents are willing to do everything
for them. In some cases this type of parenting will not have bad effects on the children. It s natural for
parents to want to protect their children, but there comes a point where parents have to let their
children fail in order for them to learn what to do and what not to

Shame, By Tim O Brian
Throughout this quarter we have read many books and many genres, at first glance they don t seem to
have any intertwining themes or ideas. Yet when you dig deeper than face value you can see that there
is many underlying themes that the average reader might easily overlook. Shame is an overall human
element that is seen all throughout; The Things They Carried, the Fifth Child, and Pocatello. Shame is
the key to good literature, it is what drives the other emotions, and without shame people would not be
people. The Things They Carried, was riddled with the idea of shame. One simple example is when
Tim O Brian was drafted and he wanted to run away to Canada to be safe from the U.S. military. This
was an important internal battle for him, which he ultimately decided to fight against and join the
army, as law required. Shame was important in this piece of literature to bring out the soldiers feelings
and their true intentions. Shame also came out in the burning of First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross letters
from his sweetheart, Martha, after a man in his company died. He felt shame. He hated himself. He
had loved Martha more than his men, and as a consequence Lavender was now dead. He burned the
letters because he was ashamed that he let the letters get to him and distract him from, what he
decided was more important, the war. Ben had to deal with a kinds of shame, he had his family
ashamed of him and he was ashamed of himself. His whole family was disgraced the way he look and

Stream of Consciousness in Katherine Anne Porter s The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
In The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, Katherine Anne Porter applies the rhetorical technique stream of
consciousness to guide her audience through the last sixty years of a leathery, bitter woman jilted in
life, and finally in death. The seemingly aimless and casual technique, similar to a human s thought
pattern, effectively develops the exposition, conflict, and denouement.
By using the stream of consciousness technique, Porter establishes Granny Weatherall s background.
The occasional glimpse into the main character s past reveals the demanding responsibilities of a
young widow. She reflects on how digging post holes, riding country roads in the ... Show more

This technique establishes the dramatic conflict as Granny Weatherall recalls how her beau, George,
jilted her at the altar. Although it is unclear to the reader what leads up to the wedding day
abandonment, she was clearly haunted for sixty years as she had prayed against remembering him and
against losing her soul in the deep pit of hell. She becomes a bitter, controlling woman striving for a
neat and orderly life by tucking in the edges as if it were a sheet. She spends her life avoiding and
despising surprises, after the stunning surprise at the altar.
By applying the stream of consciousness technique to demonstrate the effects of Granny Weatherall s
lifetime struggle with the jilting and its effects, Porter establishes the main character s need to control
circumstances, even death. The darkness of death, like the familiar dark, smoky hell of being jilted,
surprises Granny Weatherall. After sixty years of anger and bitterness, the jilting of death blocks out
any other sorrow because the grief of dying erases them from her memory. Determined to control her
death as she had her life, she blows out the light.
In conclusion, Porter s flowing inner monologue provides an opportunity for many interpretations. Did
the jilting cause her to be an angry, bitter woman

A fundamental aspect of managing any computer system, UNIX or otherwise, is the backup of user
and system data for possible retrieval purposes in the case of system failure, data corruption, etc.
Users, both teacher, student, or counselor, expect and depend on the admin to recover files that have
been accidentally erased, or lost due to hardware problems. Backup devices may be locally connected
to a system or remotely accessible across a network. Typical backup media types include: 1/4 cartridge
tape, 8mm cartridge tape (used infrequently today) DAT (very common) DLT (where lots of data must
be archived) Floptical, ZIP, JAZ, SyQuest (common for user level backups) Backup tapes, disks and
other media should be well looked after in a secure location within the university, primarily at a main

tools, file and directory oriented tools such as tar, filesystem oriented tools, standard UNIX utilities,
and high level tools (normally commercial packages) such as IRIS NetWorker. The most commonly

unknown comes a very steep price and this price is to incredibly high that not one person in a new

Japan and the United States the governments helped to begin the industrial age in their nations by
providing government contracts as seen in America with the arms industry of the mid 19th century or
in Japan where the government decided to start the whole industrial revolution by themselves but then
ultimately had to sell their government factories to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sadly, the Japanese government decided to industrialize rapidly and did not foresee any of the
problems that would ensue. With the government owning and operating multiple industries, the
government was quickly spending too much money on maintaining these industries. The responsibility
of maintaining these industries proved to be too strenuous upon the economy of the Japanese
government, as Tessa Morris Suzuki points out in The Technological Transformation of Japan By the
early 1880s the costs of industrial investment were imposing immense strains on the budget and
fueling the fires of spiraling inflation. Thus the Japanese government was forced to sell their industries
to private enterprises for a fraction of what they cost just to break somewhat even. Once the private
enterprises gained control of these industries, the future of these industries began to turnaround
because of the simple fact that the government had trained the workforce on how to use and operate
the machinery and had educated the working population in industries. By having an educated
workforce at their disposal, the private enterprises were set up for success and soon would see large
amounts of profits being made. What made the private enterprises successful was the fact that the

What Is The Success Of The Battle Of Pork Chop Hill
The Battle of Pork Chop Hill
Introduction
The US ARMY field artillery begins in the colonial period when American patriots were fighting
against the British for imposing the three intolerable acts that infringed on the rights of the Americans
especially for the residents of Boston who were more affected by these laws. In retaliation, the
Americans were forming a militia and had created a supply depot to support these militia
organizations. The General at that time sent troops to destroy the supply stores and in anticipation of
this, the American militia waited along the British routes and poured fire on the British. The General
sent a troop with two pounds of explosives used to destruct and disperse the Americans. This was
when the Americans realized that they needed Artillery as well ( RIGHT OF THE LINE , 1984).
The American Field Artillery was born in November, 1775 under the leadership of Henry Knox a
twenty six year old book sales man who was a self made Artillery man. Through his leadership, the
Americans were able to launch several attacks against the colonists. The last attack was in in 1781 in
the battle at Yorktown when the British finally surrendered and retreated to Britain. The success of the
Field Artillery was evident in the final battle against the British although the British at that time had
more artillery weapons than the Americans. It is the skill of the Soldiers and training to endure long
hours of war that enabled the American Soldiers to win the battle

Gulliver s Travels By Jonathan Swift
A Humbling Inspiration In 1726 author Jonathan Swift published a satirical, narrative entitled Gulliver
s Travels (Davis, Harrison and Johnson 229). Gulliver s Travels is a novel that has continued to
contribute and thrive in both literature and the film genres. Swift uses comical events and
extraordinary characters to address moral issues that remain decades later in today s society. Gulliver s
Travels has since been reproduced in the film industry multiple times, most recently in 2010 (Gulliver
s Travels). Swift s creative work takes his prideful main character and protagonist, Lemuel Gulliver
through many events which leads to his most traumatizing and humbling experience. A minor
characters within the text, Don Pedro de Mendez is one of the most influential characters that impacts
Gulliver s traveling experience. Don Pedro de Mendez is a character that helps uplift Gulliver from
mild depression and encourages him to embrace who he is while remaining thoughtful of his
shortcomings. Don Pedro de Mendez as a minor character contributes to both Gulliver s life and the
theme of the text. Mendez is a Portuguese captain who discoveries Gulliver on an island after his exile
by the Houyhnhnm tribe. During Gulliver s and Mendez s interactions the readers are introduced to
the moral concept of humbleness and how pride can affect one s perception. Gulliver s exile from the
island of the Houyhnhnm tribe and Yahoos causes him to fall into a great depression, due to his

How Did The Industrial Revolution Change British Society
The Industrial Revolution was a period of transition which took place in the late 18thcentury, England.
This transition included the change in lifestyle, agricultural production, manufacturing, mining,
transportation and technology. It had profound effects within the society and economy changing the
structure of British society we know today.
The beginnings of the Industrial Revolution came from the agricultural sector. Farmers were
developing new ideas for crop rotations and inventions which increase the production of food. The
first iconic figure at that time was an inventor called Jethro Tull, who invented convectional tools
which increased the efficiency of planting. The horse hoe and the seed drill tool, were inventions that

This innovation increased the workload at minimal effort and time. This device however was not the
first to be made, as John Kays s Flying shuttle was the original. The flying shuttle doubled the
production of cloth however, it took ten people to prepare a yarn for one weaver and four spinners to
keep up with one cotton loom. Although the flying shuttle was the original, it lacked the speed and
was difficult to maneuver. These inventions would have a positive effect in the textile industry, as yarn
effectively became industrialized the cost of making cotton yarn dropped significantly.
The first transition towards the Industrial Revolution starts to take form, as the fast production of yarn,
needed to be transported in large quantities. The first steam engine was produced by Thomas
Newcomen, however the machine was weak and needed the abundance of coal to power the machine.
In 1769 a more refined steam engine was introduced by James Watts, it was more powerful and
efficient. The engine used pistons rather than pumps to drive the wheel, providing Britain with an

Summary Of Missoula By Jon Krakeur
In Jon Krakeur s book, Missoula, he focuses on bringing awareness to the most underreported crime
of acquaintance rape. I believe it is critical for all students, male and female, to be thoroughly
informed on this subject, we need to be aware of the danger, as well as the possible repercussions, in
reporting a rape. As I begin my college journey as a freshman in a new town, I am thankful
Jacksonville State University chose this informative book as the summer read for incoming freshman.
I have never heard of an acquaintance rape, but assumed in beginning this book that it meant being
raped by someone that is a part of one s daily life. As students read this book, I believe it will be a

Impact Of Economic Liberalisation On Livelihoods
The Impact Of Economic Liberalisation On Livelihoods In Nigeria
Economic liberalization on livelihoods in Nigeria refers to how the decrease in government control,
through deregulation and lesser restrictions in the economy to promote greater participation of private
entities, serves as a means of securing the basic necessities of life i.e. food, water, shelter and clothing.
This is done in an effort to encourage economic development through the doctrine is associated with
classical liberalism. Following in the pattern of major economic reforms of emerging markets such as
Brazil, China and India, Nigeria has followed the same path of economic liberalisation to ameliorate
itself in the global competition, in order to achieve a higher standard of living.
In Nigeria, economic liberalization through deregulation and privatization, has been implemented for
various reasons, such as the demand for efficient and effective Public Enterprises, reduction in
external borrowing, stronger capital markets, and improve accountability, but most important of all,
for generation of employment and sustainable livelihoods for the betterment of Nigerian welfare
(World Bank, 2013).
SAP and NEEDS.
Economic reform through liberalization was first introduced in Nigeria in 1986 through the IMF s
Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP), which was introduced to many sub Saharan African

Pros And Cons Of The NCAA
The NCAA is an easy organization to make fun of. The governing body of college sports loves to
wield its hammer of justice in the most uninformed, one sided way as possible. That is true, although,
sometimes we forget about the difficult terrain it has to navigate.
In what will almost certainly end with Mark Emmert becoming a punching bag to those who loathe
the collegiate athletic model, the NCAA is claiming that it can t mandate diversity hiring.
Let s start with the context.
In October, six members of Congress asked Emmert to address the status of a pledge the NCAA had
asked schools to sign last year in support of diversifying their hiring pools when jobs become
available. This was after Congress addressed its concerns over the majority of college coaches being
white males.

Universities and colleges retain their autonomy and authority in this regard. We remain vigilant and
concerned about representational diversity of ethnic minorities and women in coaching and athletics
administration.
Here is where things get tricky and vernacular matters.
Lost in all the hatred the NCAA and Emmert receives is the fact that the organization is just an
extension of its university members. The NCAA isn t running college sports, it is overseeing it, on
behalf of the schools it represents. Or, more simply put, the actual bosses at least in the grand scheme
of things are the schools. Not the NCAA.
Emmert represents the schools. He is similar in his position as are those who oversee the NFL and
NBA. He s the face of the governing body, but he isn t the one making up the rules. He helps,
obviously, but he is meant to represent what the majority of universities want. If all schools wanted
something to be fixed, the NCAA would likely

The Therapeutic Benefits Of Yoga And Mindfulness Meditation
The Therapeutic Benefits of Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation We live in a world today in which we
are continuously looking for the new thing. With the speed of technological advances in our society,
individuals have become accustomed to reading up on the newest, most innovative to date jet plane,
new shoes with new technology for speed and agility, and, of course, new iPhones coming out twice a
year with cool new applications. The common word here is new and it is a simple syllable that has the
power to make any novel thing be perceived as appealing. As modern medicines continue to develop,
the public is also in demand for new age therapies, and thus we have seen an increase in attention
being directed toward the use of holistic medicines. Naturalistic and holistic methods are receiving
positive criticisms leading to an increase in the attention it is being granted them from multiple fields
of study. Due to the positive effects often observed as a result of such therapies, as well as their lack of
negative side effects, therapies that exclude the use of chemical medicines and focus on natural
healing are gaining international popularity. With media s current emphasis on physical fitness, society
is showing in an increased interest in keeping up with the trend a constructive trend when compared to
other subjects emphasized by the media. Furthermore, there have been countless reports stating the

Essay on North American Free Trade Agreement NAFTA
NAFTA:
North American Free Trade Agreement
Implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) began on January 1, 1994,
and is one of the United States most significant regional trade agreements. The final provisions of the
NAFTA were fully implemented on January 1, 2008. With full implementation, the last remaining
trade restriction on a handful of agricultural commodities such as U.S. exports to Mexico of corn, dry
edible beans, nonfat dry milk and high fructose corn syrup and Mexican exports to the United States
of sugar and certain horticultural products are now removed. As you can see this agreement will have
the potential to remove most barriers to agricultural trade and investment among the United States, ...

This concept was carried over into the NAFTA. Chapter 8 of the NAFTA permits, under specified
conditions, the parties to impose a temporary, emergency safeguard measure that is, an increase in the
tariff to the prevailing MFN level in the event imports cause, or threaten to cause, serious injury to
domestic producers. In 2008, a NAFTA partner could, assuming the associated conditions are
satisfied, invoke a Chapter 8 safeguard provision until 1 year following full implementation of the
NAFTA commitments, i.e., until January 1, 2009. Beyond January 1, 2009, the NAFTA Partner could
maintain a safeguard arrangement only with the consent of the Party against whose good the action
would be taken. (Teslik)

The eight movement song cycle From the Diary of Virginia Woolf is a musical setting of excerpts
from Virginia Woolf s famed diary by American composer Dominick Argento. Each of the eight diary

Woolf s first entry (April 1919) to Woolf s last entry (March 1941). The diary text is brought to life

Nobody ever listens to a teenager. Everybody thinks you should be happy just because you re young.
They don t see the wars that we fight every single day. And one day, my war will end. And I won t die.
And I will not tolerate abuse from anyone. I am strong. These are the words of one of Erin Gruwell s
Long Beach, California high school students. The actors and actresses of Freedom Writers are Hilary
Swank, April Lee Hernandez, and Patrick Dempsey. They represent Erin Gruwell, Maria Reyes, and
Scott Casey ( Freedom Writers True Story ). The movie Freedom Writers is based on a true story, it is
easy to question how much of the plot is factual when seeing these words. However, almost every
situation contained in the film portrays what actually occurred. In the movie, when the students read
from their diaries, these are the real diaries from the students. Scenes including a Toast for Change ,

the film Freedom Writers is gang life and the effects of it on children; there are many lessons to be

The Differences and Similarities of the Ottoman Empire and...
While taking the class of Early Modern European History there was two states that really stuck out

compare and contrast both the Ottoman Empire and Early Modern Europe during the 16th Century
through the 18th Century, you will see that there are a number of similarities as well as differences
when you look at the expansion of the states. You will also see many of these contrasts as well when
you look in terms of each states military and commerce. Although the Ottoman Empire existed before
the 16th century and continued to exist past the 18th century and in great decline until the early 20th

Also, there is such a thing called supply and demand, and the consumer chooses what is needed or

mercantilism capitalism. Both the articles had a significant impact on the societies of each state.
Perhaps the greatest comparisons can be made in how the two states expanded, grew, and changed
point of view within the time period. The second comparison point would be what role religion played
in to the time period, with the scope of the protestant uprising in the late 15th century and the change
in what citizens perceived the role of god and religion in society. Also important with this is the role
that the Millet system played within the Ottoman Empire specifically when overtaking new lands and
expanding. The third comparison point revolves around the economy and taxation habits of both
states, looking closely at the mercantile, trade, Industrial Revolution, and taxation. Lastly, you can
also look at the fall or change of both great states through important events and how those events
shaped their futures in many ways. Though the end of the 18th century and the Battle of Vienna didn t
mark the end of the Ottoman Empire, it did note the start to the downfall of the great state. With the

Disastrous Self-Cannibalism
In Western culture a fundamental belief states that humans are profoundly different from animals. In
defense of our position as higher beings, we use culture and rationality to distinguish ourselves from
animals and savages. The eighteenth century European man saw himself as the very pinnacle of
culture and greatness. Advances in science had enabled man to understand and predict god s world,
and innovations in art allowed man to create works of increasing divine beauty. The progress of
society was evident and continued to propel mankind to greater status with increasing distance from
lowly animals. However, several eighteenth century authors present a different account of the idea of
progress. For Jonathan Swift, Alexander Pope, and William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In particular, Swift shows this theme of human degeneration in A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to
Bed (1731). The poem depicts Corinna, a prostitute, as she is removing her makeup and other fashion
accessories at the end of the day. However, this nymph s evening practices elicit shock and horror:
Corinna Takes off her artificial Hair, plucks out her Crystal Eye, and Untwists a Wire; and from her
Gums/ A Set of Teeth completely comes (A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed lines 10, 11, 19
20). This deconstruction of the female form functions as a sort of cannibalism. It mirrors the process
by which a butcher might process an animal so that its meat may be served. Indeed, Corinna is self
cannibalizing her own body and her own humanity. As her ritual progresses, she Unlaces next her
Steel rib d Brodice, which conjures up imagines of metal machinery and suggests that she is less than
human and therefore lacks the power of reason that would keep her together. Furthermore, the
prostitute s steady progress in revealing her grotesquely fragmented body parallels the same falseness
in society that Swift aims to reveal in his poetry. But perhaps most horrifying is imagining how the
Corinna, Must ev ry Morn her Limbs unite ( A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed 66). This
process of reconstruction only works to hide her true nature, which she disguises by presenting herself
as fully human. Ultimately, Corinna is made monstrous by the demands to uphold cultural standards of

Joy Hulga Good Country People
Pride, The Downfall Of Man
According to the catholic theology, the feeling of pride is considered one of the mortal sins. The
mortal sins are believed to be the root cause of all other sins and generally all that is wrong in the
world. The idea behind the churches condemnation of pride is that if a man takes too much pride in
himself his narcissistic tendencies may began to lessen his idolization of his lord and project it onto
himself. Flannery O connor being a devout catholic made pride a dominant personality trait of the

attempt to separate that identity from the ones that she is surrounded by. She is quick to stigmatize
those who she indiscriminately identifies as having a substandard IQ. Her pride was depicted by her
beliefs that she was too educated to be outwitted by anyone found in the rural areas surrounding her
home. Joy/Hulga believed that the only necessary or worthwhile education was the one she has been
privy to, however, she finds herself proven wrong when she is left hung out to dry by a man she had
quickly assumed was an innocent dimwit. She saw this man as something she could use her superior
intellect to manipulate, this is illustrated when she imagined that she very easily seduced him and that
then, of course, she had to reckon with his remorse. (O connor, 180) The author follows with the
statement true genius can get an idea across even to an inferior mind. (O connor, 180) These two short

What is brand personality?
As defined by Aaker (1997), brand personality refers to the set of human characteristics associated
with a brand. Aaker assumes that the brands are the same with the human personality or character, and
the brand personality is created when a consumer attached his or her personality like character to a
specific brand. According to Hawkins, et al (2001), brand personality can be considered as what type
of person the brand would be if it were human and what it would do and like .

Millions of researches are being carried out across the world. Hence the scope is very limited for a
person/organization to follow all the studies going on. Even if you track a study, it becomes a real
problem to analyze data that is being updated continuously on that trial. Apart from this problem, there
are many other obstacles like inaccurate results in search of a particular medical problem and even if
you do find accurate results, it becomes hard to put all information at one place retrieved from various
sources. In order to overcome the above problems, we are developing a one stop clinical trials user
friendly application that addresses all the related problems. In addition, we plan on providing a
platform for business users to analyze the stocks of the companies that are conducting the clinical
trials. Business users can benefit by making use of these analyses to make right choice before
investing on a stock. When a company starts the research on any disease, its stock prices see a change
relative to this research. If the research seems useful and helpful for the society, it grabs the attention
of the investors thereby, increases the stock prices of that firm. This analysis is carried out in this
project. 1.2 Problem and motivation There are numerous clinical trials being conducted around the
world every day. In spite of the technological advances like Internet,

Was Germany s War On France And Russia To Aid...
After the assassination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand, Germany pledged their full support to Austria
Hungary in a potential war. When Serbia failed to agree to Austria Hungary s ultimatum, Austria
decided to declare war on Serbia. Russia, an ally of Serbia, mobilized their troops in response to
Austria declaring war, and received support from their other ally France. Consequently, Germany
declared war on France and Russia to aid Austria Hungary. To avoid a two front war with France in
the west and Russia in the east, Germany formulated the Schlieffen Plan. Created by General Alfred
von Schlieffen, the Schlieffen Plan involved invading Belgium and quickly defeating France.
Germany knew that it would take Russia six weeks to mobilize their troops,

  • 2. Global Business Barriers Global business is defined as the buying and selling of goods and services by people from different countries (McWilliams Williams 2010). It also has to do with international trade and trade agreements. Corporations that own businesses in two or more countries are called multinational corporations (McWilliams Williams 2010). Most of these global businesses main headquarters are found in the United States or the United Kingdom. Expanding to a global market is quite a complex process and businesses have to take many different aspects into account such as: social/cultural, legal, political, economic, environmental and technological factors. These components help create an attractive business climate. Different businesses operate differently to assess these relevant factors. Strict Import export rules and regulations also need to be followed. Entering the global market also allows for larger competition between other similar businesses and to create trade agreements. There are many rules and regulations when entering into the global market and with each country having different requirements you must fulfil. These must be followed or the business cannot enter into business in that country. Global businesses have trade barriers, which are government imposed regulations that increase the cost and restrict the number of imported goods (McWilliams Williams 2010). • 3. 1 Corinthians Authorship The date and authorship of 1 Corinthians, in general, is highly uncontested. Most biblical scholars are comfortable setting the probable date for the writing of 1 Corinthians at 54 56 A.D. and the author as the apostle Paul. There is a lot of support in the Bible and also historical reinforcement that uphold this date and authorship for the book of 1 Corinthians. The only major area of contention in regards to the letter of 1 Corinthians is in its integrity. Some scholars would argue that the letter is a combination of multiple letters written by Paul that over time were stitched together to form 1 Corinthians, while others would propose that Paul wrote the letter over an extended period as he received new information about what was happening ... Paul had spent approximately eighteen months in 50 to 51 A.D. in the city of Corinth, where he was instrumental in starting up the Corinthian church. This was one of the longest times he spent with a church during his missionary journeys. After leaving the Corinthian church, Paul stayed in contact with them. The letters of 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians are not the only correspondence that transpired between Paul and the church, though they are the only two letters that are still in existence today. Scholars are confident there were at least four letters, with 1 Corinthians being the second letter Paul sent. The first letter is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 5: 9 10. The third letter was sent between 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. It is mentioned in 2 Corinthians 2: 4 11 and 2 Corinthians 7: 5 13. Paul also communicated with the Corinthian church through messengers, who kept him informed over what was transpiring in the church body. Explain how moral entrepreneurship affects the public perception of morality and thus the creation of new public order crimes. Answer: Public order crimes are crimes against the public consensus of morality. Sometimes public order crimes are called victimless crimes, as there is no clear victim that can be identified. The Progressive Era And The New Deal Despite existing during two different times in the history of the United States, it can be argued that the New Deal reforms reflected the reform traditions of the Progressive Era. When examining the New Deal, Progressive influence is evident based first off of the social and political issues addressed by reforms. Second, the reforms from the two times themselves are uncannily similar, again due to the focus on the same problems existing in the United States. Pros And Cons Of Assisted Suicide Debate Paper On the positive side of assisted suicide, it is strongly believed that the right to assisted suicide allows the terminally ill to have a clean and fair death. No one wants to live with pain and sorrow. From their perspective, doctor s help the suffering and terminally ill to die when they choose is nothing wrong. From what they had argued, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution allows people the right to freedom of speech, press, petition, religion. With this logic, it would be reasonable to believe that you are allowed to have the right to die. The right to assisted suicide can help the patients with the terminally ill to release from pain and suffering, reduce the damaging financial effects of hospital care on their families, and preserve the individual right of people to determine their own fate. However, on the negative side of the assisted suicide debate, It is argued that a physician s goal is to help their patient get the proper care and help they need in order to get better and heal; it should not be through killing them. From Procon.org, In Compassion in Dying v. State of Washington, it was stated that physician assisted suicides acts as a slippery slope to those who aren t terminally ill and will take advantage of it. Once we allow assisted suicides, it opens the way to offering it to people who are no longer mentally competent. And then to people who are in distress but not terminally ill. Well, not General Don Carlos Buell! When he was given orders through Acting General in Chief Hallek, to move east along the Memphis and Charleston Railroad to capture Chattanooga and then drive the enemy out of East Tennessee, he would act accordingly. But, not Gen. Buell. He had a far different battle plan in mind. Apparently, he thought he could tell the President of the United States how to run the war. He, like Gen. McClelland, preferred a strategy of maneuver and siege to one of all out battle as proposed by the President. • 13. What Role Does Diophantus Play In The Evolution Of Algebra Algebra is the basis of all math and its advancement took place in three major steps. The first stage of algebra is rhetorical algebra dating back to before 275 BCE. Rhetorical algebra was a form of algebra that contained no symbols so to them +, , and*, did not exist. It was usually explained orally or written on scribes. They were able to do things such as find squad and cubed roots, solve linear equations, and explain fractions. As well as recognizing irrational numbers and identifying that quadratics had two answers. The next phase in algebra s evolution was Syncopated math. This was most popularly used between 275 BCE 1600. Diophantus played a crucial role in this stage by being the first to develop algebraic notations and abbreviations. ... There comes a point where parents have to let their children grow up on their own and make mistakes, but it seems parents now are raising a generation full of helpless children. Helicopter parenting is being a way of parenting that everyone seems in on, but what the parents are understanding is that keeping children sheltered from the real world and mistakes can damage them in the future. In the article Are We Raising a Generation of Helpless Kids? by Mickey Goodman discusses how helicopter parenting is holding children back from their full potential. Being a child of a helicopter parent, I don t believe that having a helicopter parent made me dependent on my mom, if anything I ve distanced myself so that I can have more independence. My mom means well she just wants to protect my sisters and I, but how does she expect us to learn if we never get hurt or fail? The effects of helicopter parenting, in my experience, is distancing so that we can do what we want. Rebelling from parents is another effect, again because of the need for independence. I do think that if parents are willing to do their child s homework and projects then they might as well let them live at home for the rest of their lives because once someone experiences that kind of sheltering they aren t going to want to do work for themselves if they know their parents are willing to do everything for them. In some cases this type of parenting will not have bad effects on the children. • 15. Shame, By Tim O Brian Throughout this quarter we have read many books and many genres, at first glance they don t seem to have any intertwining themes or ideas. Yet when you dig deeper than face value you can see that there is many underlying themes that the average reader might easily overlook. Shame is an overall human element that is seen all throughout; The Things They Carried, the Fifth Child, and Pocatello. Shame is the key to good literature, it is what drives the other emotions, and without shame people would not be people. The Things They Carried, was riddled with the idea of shame. One simple example is when Tim O Brian was drafted and he wanted to run away to Canada to be safe from the U.S. military. This was an important internal battle for him, which he ultimately decided to fight against and join the army, as law required. Shame was important in this piece of literature to bring out the soldiers feelings and their true intentions. Shame also came out in the burning of First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross letters from his sweetheart, Martha, after a man in his company died. He felt shame. He hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his men, and as a consequence Lavender was now dead. He burned the letters because he was ashamed that he let the letters get to him and distract him from, what he decided was more important, the war. Ben had to deal with a kinds of shame, he had his family ashamed of him and he was ashamed of himself. His whole family was disgraced the way he look and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The seemingly aimless and casual technique, similar to a human s thought pattern, effectively develops the exposition, conflict, and denouement. Although it is unclear to the reader what leads up to the wedding day abandonment, she was clearly haunted for sixty years as she had prayed against remembering him and against losing her soul in the deep pit of hell. She becomes a bitter, controlling woman striving for a neat and orderly life by tucking in the edges as if it were a sheet. She spends her life avoiding and despising surprises, after the stunning surprise at the altar. By applying the stream of consciousness technique to demonstrate the effects of Granny Weatherall s lifetime struggle with the jilting and its effects, Porter establishes the main character s need to control circumstances, even death. The darkness of death, like the familiar dark, smoky hell of being jilted, surprises Granny Weatherall. After sixty years of anger and bitterness, the jilting of death blocks out any other sorrow because the grief of dying erases them from her memory. Determined to control her death as she had her life, she blows out the light. In conclusion, Porter s flowing inner monologue provides an opportunity for many interpretations. With the government owning and operating multiple industries, the government was quickly spending too much money on maintaining these industries. The responsibility of maintaining these industries proved to be too strenuous upon the economy of the Japanese government, as Tessa Morris Suzuki points out in The Technological Transformation of Japan By the early 1880s the costs of industrial investment were imposing immense strains on the budget and fueling the fires of spiraling inflation. Thus the Japanese government was forced to sell their industries to private enterprises for a fraction of what they cost just to break somewhat even. Once the private enterprises gained control of these industries, the future of these industries began to turnaround because of the simple fact that the government had trained the workforce on how to use and operate the machinery and had educated the working population in industries. By having an educated workforce at their disposal, the private enterprises were set up for success and soon would see large amounts of profits being made. In retaliation, the Americans were forming a militia and had created a supply depot to support these militia organizations. The General at that time sent troops to destroy the supply stores and in anticipation of this, the American militia waited along the British routes and poured fire on the British. • 38. The Differences and Similarities of the Ottoman Empire and... While taking the class of Early Modern European History there was two states that really stuck out and peaked my interest the most. They were the Ottoman Empire and Early Modern Europe. If you compare and contrast both the Ottoman Empire and Early Modern Europe during the 16th Century through the 18th Century, you will see that there are a number of similarities as well as differences when you look at the expansion of the states. You will also see many of these contrasts as well when you look in terms of each states military and commerce. Although the Ottoman Empire existed before the 16th century and continued to exist past the 18th century and in great decline until the early 20th century, when looking at the state as a whole the time ... This article also signified the evolution of the English economy of moving away of mercantilism capitalism. Both the articles had a significant impact on the societies of each state. Perhaps the greatest comparisons can be made in how the two states expanded, grew, and changed point of view within the time period. The second comparison point would be what role religion played in to the time period, with the scope of the protestant uprising in the late 15th century and the change in what citizens perceived the role of god and religion in society. Also important with this is the role that the Millet system played within the Ottoman Empire specifically when overtaking new lands and expanding. The third comparison point revolves around the economy and taxation habits of both states, looking closely at the mercantile, trade, Industrial Revolution, and taxation. Lastly, you can also look at the fall or change of both great states through important events and how those events shaped their futures in many ways. Though the end of the 18th century and the Battle of Vienna didn t mark the end of the Ottoman Empire, it did note the start to the downfall of the great state. • 39. Disastrous Self-Cannibalism In Western culture a fundamental belief states that humans are profoundly different from animals. In defense of our position as higher beings, we use culture and rationality to distinguish ourselves from animals and savages. The eighteenth century European man saw himself as the very pinnacle of culture and greatness. Advances in science had enabled man to understand and predict god s world, and innovations in art allowed man to create works of increasing divine beauty. The progress of society was evident and continued to propel mankind to greater status with increasing distance from lowly animals. However, several eighteenth century authors present a different account of the idea of progress. For Jonathan Swift, Alexander Pope, and William ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In particular, Swift shows this theme of human degeneration in A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed (1731). The poem depicts Corinna, a prostitute, as she is removing her makeup and other fashion accessories at the end of the day. However, this nymph s evening practices elicit shock and horror: Corinna Takes off her artificial Hair, plucks out her Crystal Eye, and Untwists a Wire; and from her Gums/ A Set of Teeth completely comes (A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed lines 10, 11, 19 20). This deconstruction of the female form functions as a sort of cannibalism. It mirrors the process by which a butcher might process an animal so that its meat may be served. Indeed, Corinna is self cannibalizing her own body and her own humanity. As her ritual progresses, she Unlaces next her Steel rib d Brodice, which conjures up imagines of metal machinery and suggests that she is less than human and therefore lacks the power of reason that would keep her together. Furthermore, the prostitute s steady progress in revealing her grotesquely fragmented body parallels the same falseness in society that Swift aims to reveal in his poetry. But perhaps most horrifying is imagining how the Corinna, Must ev ry Morn her Limbs unite ( A Beautiful Young Nymph Going to Bed 66). This process of reconstruction only works to hide her true nature, which she disguises by presenting herself as fully human. Ultimately, Corinna is made monstrous by the demands to uphold cultural standards of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mortal sins are believed to be the root cause of all other sins and generally all that is wrong in the world. Her pride was depicted by her beliefs that she was too educated to be outwitted by anyone found in the rural areas surrounding her home. Joy/Hulga believed that the only necessary or worthwhile education was the one she has been privy to, however, she finds herself proven wrong when she is left hung out to dry by a man she had quickly assumed was an innocent dimwit. She saw this man as something she could use her superior intellect to manipulate, this is illustrated when she imagined that she very easily seduced him and that then, of course, she had to reckon with his remorse. As defined by Aaker (1997), brand personality refers to the set of human characteristics associated with a brand. Aaker assumes that the brands are the same with the human personality or character, and the brand personality is created when a consumer attached his or her personality like character to a specific brand. According to Hawkins, et al (2001), brand personality can be considered as what type of person the brand would be if it were human and what it would do and like . Apart from this problem, there are many other obstacles like inaccurate results in search of a particular medical problem and even if you do find accurate results, it becomes hard to put all information at one place retrieved from various sources. In order to overcome the above problems, we are developing a one stop clinical trials user friendly application that addresses all the related problems. In addition, we plan on providing a platform for business users to analyze the stocks of the companies that are conducting the clinical trials. Business users can benefit by making use of these analyses to make right choice before investing on a stock.
