Ancient World Civilizations Ancient and Modern Architecture Assignment: The Pantheon Porch in
Rome and the Wentworth Hall Entrance
Wentworth Institute of Technology was founded by Arioch Wentworth in 1904 by selling his estate
after he died on March 12, 1903. The main purpose of Arioch creating this building was to furnish
education in the mechanical arts for many young men and train them in various skills to prepare for
success in the future. On the other hand, the Pantheon in Rome was introduced originally as a temple
dedicated to all the deities of pagan Rome. It was eventually sanctified and made into a Christian
church in the later century. When taking a closer look at the Wentworth Hall and comparing it to the
Pantheon Porch, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout this comparison, I wish to discover the characteristics shared by both the Wentworth Hall
and Pantheon and the special meanings behind these two old buildings.
The history of the Pantheon project was originally from the emperor Augustus and built by the
architect Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. During the reign of the Roman emperor Titus, in approximately
80 A.D, the Pantheon temple was burned down in a fire. Eventually, the third Roman emperor
Domitian of the Flavian dynasty rebuilt a new temple there, but this one was also destroyed in a fire in
110 A.D. Around 120 A.D Roman period, King Hadrian rebuilt the third Pantheon in a more modern
style and this is the temple we have today. Apollodorus of Damascus, who was an architect designer
during that period of time, assisted King Hadrian in rebuilding the best preserved Roman monument,
the new Pantheon. The reconstruction of this project started soon after Hadrian became emperor and it
was probably completed by 125 A.D. To honor Agrippa, Hadrian left a message over the door written
in early Greek. Hadrian mentioned that he was the originally creator who had built the temple.
The Pantheon building has had just a tremendously complex architectural history. When they built the
Pantheon around 120 A.D, the skilled architects applied advanced engineering technology in

Investigating Concepts Of A Digital Device Essay
The purpose of this assessment is to investigate concepts relating to a system that is used within a
digital device. For my assessment, I chose the A5158 model MP3 player that belongs to my dad.
The features of this device include:
High Contrast LCD Display, Resolution 96 x 32
Integrated Flash Memory
Plays MP3 and WMA Digital Music Files FM Radio
4GB Stores up to 1000 songs
USB 2.0 Hi Speed for fast file transfers
Key lock preventing accidental key presses
Integrated 100mAh Lithium rechargeable battery for up to 5 hours playback
Data Representation
In computer terms, a bit is a numeric value either a zero or a one that holds a single unit of digital
information. Bits are usually strung together in a sequence eight bits normally equals one byte. Bits
are used to write binary numbers, which can be used to store decimal numbers such as 244 or 93 as
patterns of ones and zeroes.
ASCII or American Standard Code for Information Interchange is a computer code that was developed
to allow computers to convert human text into bits that computers could understand. In ASCII code,
for example, the letter A is 65 a number that can then be converted into the binary value 1000001.
In the 1960 s, the 7 bit ASCII table was first adopted. Within a 7 bit number, 128 different characters
can be stored English letters from A Z (upper and lower case), numeric digits from 0 9 and special
characters such as !/*+. The eighth bit was used to detect transmission errors.

Starting an Independent Record Label
Starting an Independent Record Label
Introduction
Throughout these four chapters I will be discussing how to start your own record label.
Part one will be talking about how to get started, like what a record company does.
Part two will be talking about setting up the actual label, like record deals, contracts that you will
need, and making your business plan.
Part 3 will be discussing how to find the group you will represent, like what to look for in an artist,
what is the artist looking for, and indentifying your market.
Part 4 will be the production and part 5 will be the marketing and distribution, like creating the
recording, finding a recording studio, mixing and mastering, and manufacturing and packaging. And
what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It describes the number of recordings the artist will make, the labels responsibility to pay for the
production of the recordings, the record company s rights to the recordings, and the amount the label
will label will pay the artist from the sale of those records.
You will also need a producer s agreement. The producer is the technical and creative person. The
producer works with the artist to complete the master recording that a label will then manufacture into
cassettes etc. its pretty similar to the recording agreement. A producer agreement explains the deal of
the producer will perform on the recording, the record labels rights to the recording, and how much
the label will pay.
Business Plan
Everyone who wants to achieve their goals for their business effectively must create a business plan. It
s the direction you re looking to head in a certain amount of years and how you re going to achieve the
goals you want.
Your labels business plan will show to artists and other professionals that you are organized and
professional. A business plan should include management, your promotion thinking and strategy,
marketing and sales, the whole financial view.
Music Terms
You need to know the basics and importance of the music industry s knowledge.
Such as copyright, the record royalty and the mechanical royalty.

Smithsonian Channel s Final Mystery
April 15, 1912 the unsinkable Titanic had almost three hours before it was no longer afloat, but
plunged to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. Blueprints, journal logs, and tons of witnesses
were thoroughly inspected over the past 100 years to help solve the question agonizing question, why.
For the 100 year remembrance of the tragic event, Smithsonian Channel released a documentary,
Titanic s Final Mystery. Dedicated Titanic detective and historian, Tim Maltin releases his theory on
how the unsinkable sank.
Owner of the Titanic Joseph Bruce Ismay and head designer Thomas Andrews spent $7.4 million to
build the finest ship of the time period. The process took longer than expected, setting the voyage

The way that light passed through that air could have caused distortion to the look of objects by the
horizon. This causing the ice berg kept from being seen until it was thirty seconds away and alter the
Titanic s appearance to a nearby ship, which explains its lack of help when the ship set of distress
calls. Maltin also points out other little things that lead to the sinking of the Titanic and the absence of
enough life boats. One of the biggest errors made by the crew members was when the operator was
listening to telegraphs sent in, looking out for any about the current ice situation ahead of time, he has
accidentally skipped right over the one. The ship had just gotten to a place where they could receive
telegraphs from the United States, the operator was overwhelmed with them. The message warning the
titanic about the iceberg had been written in an informal manner, he thought it be nothing important
before listening to it all. As the titanic began to sink only around 700 people were able to fit on the
amount of life boats that the Titanic was stocked with. Critics shame the ship a lot for not having
enough life boats for everyone aboard, but because the Board of Trade rewarded ships who didn t need
as many life boats and the ship was fully believed to be unsinkable, the designer didn t see a reason to
why they would need that many life

Twelfth Night Mistaken Identity Essay
Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare should be considered a comedy because it fulfills all the
elements of comedy, specifically puns and mistaken identity. Twelfth Night is a play about twins who
are shipwrecked and separated. One of the twins, Viola, disguises herself as a man so she can work in
Duke Orsino s court. She quickly befriends him and is sent to woo Countess Olivia, the object of
Orsino s affection. Much to her dismay, Viola falls in love with the Duke and Olivia falls in love with
her disguised, masculine self. This hilarious play is a shakespearean comedy because it is composed of
five elements: puns, complex plots, mistaken identity, happy endings, and insults. Puns are a play on
words that create a double meaning. This can be confusing like complex ... Show more content on

Typical in other shakespearean comedies, Twelfth Night immediately uses mistaken identity when
Viola disguises herself as a man. But the most hysterical example of mistaken identity in Twelfth
Night is Malvolio´s love letter. Malvolio is a pompous steward of Olivia who the other servants do not
like. After being scolded by him, Maria, along with Sir Toby and another servant play a trick on
Malvolio. Since Malvolio is secretly in love with Olivia, Maria forges a letter declaring her love for
him in Olivia s penmanship. This leads Malvolio to believe Olivia loves him back. The letter asks
Malvolio to show he loves her back by ¨let it appear in thy smiling¨ (Shakespeare). Now whenever
Malvolio is in Olivia´s presence, he vows to smile. This is hilarious because Olivia is still mourning
her brother´s death whilst he stands around her, smiling like an idiot. Maria pretended to be Olivia and
now Malvolio looks like a fool. Her mistaken identity generates humor in the manner that Malvolio is
humbled from his condescending position. Shakespeare s use of mistaken identity and puns makes

Summary Of The Mother s Loathing Of Kidneys
Mothers are notorious for falling apart after their children have left the home. In the poem, The
Mother s Loathing of Balloons by A.E. Stallings, a mom is dealing with the loss of her most important
job; being a mother. While of course she will always be a mom, something changes when her children
are no longer feet from her. While for many, this is a depressing and somber change, the diction and
tone of the poem suggests that for this particular speaker, the event of her children leaving home
brings her a sense of relief and freedom. The diction of the poem is crucial in understanding the
underlying meaning of the poem. In the beginning, and for most of the poem, it seems like a normal
and predictable poem of a mother dealing with the

The Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Asd )
Biology Coursework
Introduction
An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition that effects social interaction and behaviour. (1) It
is relatively common in young children, with around 1% of 5 year olds being diagnosed. Both
Asperger s Syndrome and Childhood Autism fall into the category of an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Many reasons have been placed forward about how and why an ASD occurs in certain people. The
majority accept that genetic factors are the most likely cause. Research is ongoing to find any genes
that may increase the likelihood of developing an ASD. Aside from genetics, other factors such as
environmental (i.e. upbringing) have been suggested as possible explanations. Recently, there was a
scare in the UK when it was claimed the MMR (measles mumps rubella) vaccine was causing ASD in
young children. (2)There was no link found between the two in studies however, but it demonstrates
how an ASD can affect everyone s life at some point, and how quick it can act.
Providing Solutions
Over the past few years, many breakthroughs have been made when studying Autism and looking at
potential solutions. Because of this, a number of potential treatments for the disorder have been
suggested. Although incurable as it is genetic, Autism Spectrum Disorders are measured in severity. It
is hoped treatment can lower the severity of individual cases of ASD. One particularly interesting
potential treatment is the use of Levocarnitine Therapy in young children diagnosed with

Wal-Mart, the Big Bad Wolf of the Economy
Wal Mart is one of the largest corporations in America today. It serves to millions of consumers a day
and is known for its motto lower prices everyday. For the last few years however, there has been the
controversy of whether Wal Mart is truly good for the American economy or not. On one hand people
believe Wal Mart is good for the economy because it saves the average consumer money due to the
low priced products. Along with being an easy one stop shop where everything a person could
possibly need is found there. Aside from the low prices and convenience, Wal Mart is bad for the
American economy. In early December of 2005 a poll was commissioned by Wakeup Wal Mart, a
union funded group that has been pressuring Wal Mart to raise employee ... Show more content on

Health Insurance has been another controversy in the debates of Wal Mart. Wal Mart employees,
especially full time employees should get health care. The opposition to this is that aside from
Starbucks no large employer gives health insurance to part time employees due to high costs of health
care (Is Walmart Bad For The Economy). However compared with other large companies Wal Mart
covers only 43% of employees with health insurance as oppose to the average 66% that other large
companies cover. If Wal Mart were to reach the average coverage rate, they would be covering an
additional 320,000 employees. Wal Mart employees are paid poorly if at all for their work and are
rarely covered with health insurance. The Wal Mart corporation states that 90% of it s workers have
health insurance. In actuality, the 90% who are covered, around 50% of those are insured because of
their spouses employer, who, by the way, may be a union employer. Wal Mart is an anti union
corporation. The first ever unionized Wal Mart was in Quebec, Canada. It was quickly shut down once
is became unionized however, and this is not the only case like this. Many attempts have been made to
change Wal Mart into a union employer, but all attempts have failed. Wal Mart is often portrayed as
the big bad wolf of companies. It s accused of harming smaller mom and pop businesses. But it is in
fact worse then that.

Identifying Substances Lab Report
Identifying Substances Using Properties Purpose: To identify unknown substances by observing their
physical and chemical properties (e.g. colour, state, clarity, crystal shape, behaviour in water,
behaviour in acid), and comparing them to the physical and chemical properties of known substances.
Hypothesis: I predict that by observing and testing the properties, as well as comparing them to those
of known substances, we can identify all 5 of the unknown substances. I think this will happen
because every substance has a physical and/or chemical property or properties that differentiates it
from other substances, no matter how similar. For example, baking powder and baking soda. These
two substances are similar physically white, powdery, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I almost mistook the sodium nitrate for salt because they also have similar chemical and physical traits
they are both solid, white, clear, soluble in water, and dissolves in acid. However the sodium nitrate
has crystal shape which is granular, and that is different from salt s crystal form, which is cubic. That
is how I confirmed that sample C was sodium nitrate. Sample D was identified as sodium thiosulphate
because of a chemical property its reaction to acid. When the two drops of hydrochloric acid was
added, the sodium nitrate turned cloudy and yellow, which is a distinct trait of sodium thiosulphate. I
did not mistake this substance for any other substance because its reaction with acid is what confirmed
that it was sodium thiosulphate. Sample E was identified as chalk because of its behaviour in water,
also known as its solubility. After the two drops of water were added to the chalk, and it was mixed,
with a clean toothpick we saw that sample E did not mix with the water. Chalk is the only solid, out of
the five, that is insoluble. I almost mistook sample E for baking soda because the two substances have
very similar physical traits. Both substances are white, solid, opaque and a powder. However, chalk s
reaction to water and acid is different from baking soda. The chalk is insoluble with water, and its
reaction with acid is that it fizzes and some dissolves. Meanwhile, baking soda is soluble with water,

Essay on The Modern Relevance of Themes in James Joyce s...
James Joyce is widely considered to be one of the best authors of the 20th century. One of James
Joyce s most celebrated short stories is Eveline. This short story explores the theme of order and
hazard and takes a critical look at life in Dublin, Ireland in the early 20th century. Furthermore, the
themes that underlie Eveline were not only relevant for the time the story was wrote in, but are just as
relevant today. The major theme explored in Eveline is the idea of order and hazard. In society, the
idea of order has a lot more positive connotation than hazard. People often quote popular sayings such
as life is not always greener on the other side of the pastor to indicate this belief. Contrary, the idea of
taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A second group of readers however see Joyce s reaction to Eveline as uncompassionate. These readers
do not blame Eveline for not choosing to take a chance, but rather see Eveline as a sympathetic
character. These people look at the decision that Eveline is faced with as very fortuitous, and therefore
hold the belief that Eveline cannot be blamed for her decision not to leave Dublin. Other critics of
Joyce have seen his fierce criticism of Eveline as chauvinistic. This argument is based on the idea that
Joyce, a male author, does not have the right to criticize a female character, in this case Eveline.
Furthermore, there is evidence outside of his criticism of Eveline that some would say furthers the
case of Joyce s chauvinism. For example Joyce was once quoted as saying, Men are governed by lines
of intellect women: by curves of emotion (Think Exist). Many quotes said by Joyce such as this one
could be viewed as chauvinistic. Whether or not Joyce s criticism of Eveline is chauvinistic is up for
debate, but one could definitely make the case that it is. Another major theme of Eveline is Joyce s
criticism of life in Dublin in the early 20th century. One criticism Joyce has of the people of Dublin
was covered above ,which, is he believed that they settled for routine over taking opportunities to
make a better life for themselves. Joyce is perhaps critical of this trend to not settle for the norm

Narrative Essay On My Grandparents House
My Grandparent s House The Bloodstains That Won t Come Out We fought like siblings, my mother
said. We fought like sissies, my uncle said. We fought like the goddamn Irish, my papa yelled. And we
did, my cousins and I fought enough to have scrambled eggs for brains. But we always stopped when
the loser started to bleed. I was 5, my cousin Collin was 6, his sister Carley was 9, my other cousin
Milan was also 9 and her brother Entonio was too old to be with kids like us. My grandparents were
building a new house, a house with a basement, a house with a barn to the side, a house with a creek
flowing behind. We all went to where the almost finished barn would be to play. This will be where
MY horse goes, and MY saddle, and MY wheelbarrow. Carley gloated, pointing to all the places in the
barn where HER stuff would be. My, my, my, it was all about Carley, it was her barn, none of the other
cousins had a horse, nor would grandma buy any of us a horse like they did for her. Shut up Carley!
No one cares about your stupid barn or horse, Collin yelled at her sister. Don t say shut up Collin thats
a bad word, Carley threatened. How do you know it s a bad word? Because I m older and not a stupid

Serial Killers in the World
Overview
In the 1980s serial killers were understood to be a new development, a phenomenon frequently
accredited to the excesses of American culture. It was a decade of change, one of freedom and great
music. It was also a decade that brought the shock and fear of serial killers. Today it seems as if all
societies have serial killers. People in today s society are left with questions such as: Who are they?
Why are they so different? Why do they commit such horrific crimes? There are many theories that
psychologists and sociologists have researched but found no definite answers. The Bureau of Justice
Statistics partnership with MINCAVA reported that, between 1976 and 1994 there were an estimated
405,089 murders in the United States. Of these, the circumstances surrounding the murder are known
in 317,925, or 78.5%. Among the cases with known circumstances, an estimated 4,807, or 1.5%, were
classified as involving rape or another sex offense (Greenfeld 1997). Though the vast majority of
violent sex offending involves males assaulting female victims, females account for a small
percentage of known offenders, and males account for a small percentage of victims (Greenfeld,
1997).
Serial killers are a disturbing piece of the puzzle of society that we must figure out to save the lives of
the public in the future. Although the term serial killer loosly means killing serveral people by
different means, there are those who are indeed survivors of these horrific acts and live to tell

1992 and 1993 audits E Y had discovered numerous disbursements made by CBI in the first few
weeks of the next fiscal year that were unrecorded liabilities. These disbursements included payments
to the company s vendors that had been labeled as advances in the company s accounting records. The
explanation that was given by the CBI s personnel was that when CBI is at its credit limit with a large
vendor, the vendor may hold an order until they receive an advance, CBI then applies the advance to
the existing A/P balance . E Y auditors readily accepted the explanation and chose not to record the
items as unrecorded liabilities. In fact, the financial statements prepared by E Y did not fairly present
CBI s financial position because E Y did not detect certain unrecorded liabilities when it performed

FDI Inflow, Current Account Balance, Inflation And Interest Rate: How Do They Impact The

Abstract
This article seeks to find which of the macroeconomic variables among FDI inflow, current account
balance, inflation and interest rate play a significant role in economic growth in Malaysia using the
SPSS Regression method for a time period of 14 years from 1995 to 2008 (Oct). The results of the

In fact, FDI is said to be the most important contributing factor for Malaysia s economic performance.
The early beginnings of luring foreign investors to Malaysian soil started with the introduction of the
Investment Incentives Act 1968, and followed by the establishment of the Free Trade Zones (FTZs)
during the Second Malaysia Plan (1971 75). Since then, Malaysia has attracted a large portion of the
investment dollar that flowed into Asia. In 1995, for example, Malaysia was the second largest FDI
recipient among Asian economies at US$ 5.8 billion.
Malaysia recorded inward FDI of USD 7.3 billion and USD 6.3 billion in 1996 and 1997 respectively.
The lower figures in 1997 may be attributed to the lack of confidence as a result of the Asian financial
crisis but by 1998, figures indicate that investor confidence had improved. Malaysia s highest FDI
inflow was recorded in 2007 when the amount surged to USD 8.4 billion from USD 6.0 billion in
2006.
FDIs are private sector investments that are made by a company into a foreign country. Foreign direct
investments create a strong demand for a local currency and help boost the economy. With money
coming into a country, strong foreign direct investment is one way governments can finance current
account deficits. However, just as funds flow in, they also can flow out,

Congenital Cataracts Cause Blindness Around The World
Congenital Cataract is one of the leading preventable diseases that causes blindness around the world,
being one of the easiest diseases to treat, the major complication being that some countries do not
have the sufficient resources to treat it. The disease is formed in the eye and forms a sort of cloud in
the natural lens of the eye that could eventually lead to blindness if not treated properly. This type of
cataract is different from most cataracts, since congenital cataracts is present in an individual since
birth, meaning that it was most likely inherited from the parents. The way that it is inherited is by
some sort of abnormality, which would transpire during the making of the proteins that make the lens
clear. There are many different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study done by these researchers proved that timely surgery can be beneficial to the vision of
individuals who suffer from congenital cataracts. They analyzed results from the aftermath of eye
surgery there was a small improvement to most of the individuals vision. There were various
individuals whose vision was not corrected and in fact was worsened. The children at the time were
around 11 years old, so it was concluded that some of the children had had the disease for too long for
it to be corrected. This underlines the significance of discovering and treating congenital cataracts at a
young age, preferably as an infant. Most developing countries are still aiming to improve their health
care and avoiding the consequences of congenital cataracts, yet they are in trouble with nearly 30% of
health professions in Africa and Asia plan to migrate to a different country (Lenhart, 2016). In Lenhart
s research article, he concludes that most troubles these developing countries have roots from financial
struggles. These financial struggles lead to poor resources within the countries. These developing
countries do not even have the machinery to detect eye diseases in children, such as the red reflex
screening. Without these tests, infants are left with a preventable disease

Example Of Ghandi Personal Statement
Life is not fair, nor will it ever be fair. In order to make a difference you must be the change you wish
to see in the world as Ghandi put it. You must be aggressive with you actions and desires in order to
alter the distaste that surrounds you. The only way to inflict change is through great effort and
determination, a trait that was instilled in me at an early age. My senior year of high school marked
the eighth school I attended. My parents were never together and my mother moved to New Orleans
when I a three, leaving behind all family, friends, and familiarity. Kansas was boring and she yearned
for a change. Raising a toddler in an unfamiliar state all alone was admiral, I never had to want for
anything; my mother took care of me. After hurricane Karina and two years post Katrina, money fell
short and life got difficult, rather than let me suffer for what she couldn t provide, she sent me to live

I was provided for and educated. Transferring to a college preparatory school in Texas, from a state

Peripheral Catheters
Peripheral intravenous catheters are one of the most routinely used devices in hospitalized patients.
They are used in anticipation of an emergent need, to administers fluids, nutrition, medications, blood

The meta analysis of all the studies cited in Morrison and Holt s research, if approved by the CDC

Iris Patterns
Sarah Heimann
Mr. Hickey
PLS 3410 01
14 November 2017
Iris Patterns As time moves along and society becomes more technological, more techniques of
solving crime with advanced technology are practiced. Not only can we solve crime with fingerprints
and behavioral characteristics such as gait, voice, signature and odor, but we can also solve crime with
the use of iris recognition. Iris recognition is a biometric identification method of identifying
individuals based on their iris patterns. It has slowly been emerging, since 1994 into biometric
technology as an alternate means to do the same job as fingerprinting. This paper will go into quite a
bit of detail on the iris recognition system and explain the development of the iris and what the iris s
function is for the eye and answer the questions that follow: are there any changes to the iris between
birth and adulthood or even after death, how does the iris recognition system operate and what
countries, if any, are currently exercising the use of the iris recognition system and how is it working
out for them, is the iris recognition system reliable and do contacts and glasses effect the system in
any way, and finally, can iris recognition be applied to an iris after death?
First, one may be wondering what the function of the iris is in the eye. The iris is the plainly visible
colored ring shaped membrane behind the cornea made entirely of connective tissues, smooth muscle
fibers and pigments. It begins to form in the third month of gestation (development in the womb). The
pigments of the eye are made of melanin (the same pigment that gives skin its color). The amount of
pigment in the eye is what gives the eye its color. Lack of pigment gives one no color at all. These are
the pink eyes of albinisms. Very little pigment gives the eye a blue color and then in increasing
amounts of pigment give one green, hazel, and finally brown. The iris also controls the amount of
light that reaches the retina. It has an adjustable round opening in the center that is called a pupil. It is
responsible for controlling the diameter and size of that pupil. With the help of the pupil, the iris s
function is to regulate the amount of light that gets into the eye. Too much or not

positive things for a job well done, because you need and deserve it. Intently focusing for long periods
of time on certain tasks can become extremely frustrating so you need a release, which is why you
should reward yourself. On the flip side, it is also making you become stronger because you are

The Great Gatsby Narrator Analysis
A narrator is a character who recounts the events of a novel. These characters narrate the novel in their
point of view and how they perceive the events that occur. Their narration may be unreliable due to
bias and dishonesty. F. Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a first person narrator,
tells the story through his point of view and interprets the events and characters in the novel. Nick is
an unreliable narrator because he is biased on his interpretations of the characters and the events that
occur, like Gatsby s death. For example, he speaks negatively of Tom throughout the novel, and
speaks highly of Gatsby due to their relationship. Nick s interpretation of Gatsby s death is seen as
unreliable because Nick s morals change, and he focuses the event on himself.
Nick s interpretations of the characters in the novel are biased due to the relationships he has with
them. Nick describes himself as one of the few honest people that [he has] ever known (Fitzgerald 59).
Nick desperately tries to prove that he is reliable and trustworthy, showing that he is insecure. Early in
the book, Nick shares the piece of advice that his father gave to him when he was younger. He says,
Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone . . . just remember that all the people in this world haven t
had the advantages that you ve had . . . I m inclined to reserve all judgments (1). Nick s desire to be an
authentic narrator, compels people to trust him and his side of the story.

He seemed particularly interested in my idiomized setting of Psalm 148 to the tune of Vera Lynn s hit

his religious conditioning did not permit him to regard Vera Lynn s 1940 s swing style of music as a

These are individuals who if a situation is dire enough, can t even get a short term loan and are
unfortunate targets for predatory lending schemes.
In contrast to individuals struggling within Liquid asset poverty, the liquid asset rich individuals place
other considerations onto the real estate markets. Since the measure of liquid asset poverty is a
consideration of the amount of capital necessary over time, once the three months marker is met the
metric lacks any definition as to what liquid asset wealth is measured by. For purposes of this
research, I will define liquid asset wealth as a ceiling value of six months of living costs saved within
easily liquidated assets. While it may be helpful to understand the effects of high liquid wealth within
a context of real estate development, the author understands that an increase in wealth will not
necessitate an increase in liquid assets due to the lower return on investment compared to illiquid
assets. An investor who has more than six months of assets stored in a liquid manner is likely to not be
using their assets in a responsible manner, assuming a reasonable investing market, it would be
unlikely to see liquid assets rise with wealth instead of simply plateauing. The effects of these
wealthier individuals has been documented within the work of Rodrigo Fernandez, annelore Hofman
and Manuel B Aalbers in their article, London and New York as a safe deposit box for the

Medea s Quest For The Golden Fleece
Synopsis
The play of Medea was written by Seneca around 50 CE. In Greek Myth Medea is the daughter of
King Aeetes of Colchis, granddaughter of Helios and niece of Circe. She seeks revenge on her
husband Jason after he abandons her in Corinth in order to marry Creon s daughter. Over ten years
before the start of the play Medea had met Jason when she assisted him in his quest for the Golden
Fleece using her powers to aid him in impossible tasks that her father had set in front of Jason as his
price for obtaining the Golden Fleece. As assisting Jason meant that she was betraying both her family
and her country she fled with Jason to Thessaly. Their peace did not last long and they were forced to
flee back to Corinth where everything was fine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is set on getting revenge for the wrongs done against her right from the beginning of the play. The
Medea in Seneca s play is no weak damsel or victim of fate, she is a strong and powerful woman, a
force of nature, who will destroy anyone or anything that wrongs her, even killing her sons without
hesitation or lament. She demands to be feared rather than pitied and does not hesitate to do what she
feels she must in order to right the wrongs against her.
The Chorus Seneca s chorus is objective and does not hesitate in condemning the actions they are
witnessing. This is fine because Medea does not need their sympathy or permission, she is a woman
who makes things happen and does not rely on the gods.
Jason
In my opinion Jason takes the feminine role in the play. He comes across as rather weak and helpless
allowing the fates to dictate his course rather than fighting. He is also too willing to try to help Medea
and to trust her, when she pretends to have a change of heart. Also the fact that at the end of the play
he laments to the gods able why they allow such things to happen, rather than vowing to avenge his
son s deaths, confirms to me that he has taken the feminine role in the play.

Human Impact On No2 And Company Comparison
Human Activity Impact on NO2 and CO Comparison
Lynn Dietrich

Abstract
Human activity can change the world incredibly fast. We have to monitor those changes the best we
can in order to understand any damage that is being done. We use satellites and specialized
instruments to monitor the changes in our atmosphere. The levels of pollution that humans are
responsible for has to be monitored so that any danger can be avoided. We have to study the
components of the atmosphere to understand what is harmful and what is not.

It is formed when hydrocarbon fuels are burned (Thompson). CO is mainly produced by industrial
processes, some fires, and internal combustion engines (Blakemore and Jennett, 2016). Like NO2, the
highest levels of carbon monoxide will be found in places with large cities and industries. Carbon
monoxide has local and global effects. High amounts are dangerous to people s health locally. CO can
be spread by winds throughout the troposphere, having a global effect (Ichoku). Carbon monoxide is
being studied to see its role in atmospheric chemistry and the ability of the atmosphere to cleanse itself
of harmful pollutants (Ichoku). Humans are the source of a huge amount of pollution. Human activity
has caused nitrogen dioxide levels to rise. This rise has increased pollution levels and has hurt the
atmosphere. Human activity has also caused carbon monoxide levels to rise, but unlike NO2, carbon
monoxide can easily be spread around the world by wind. The spread of carbon monoxide has added
to pollution and hurt the atmosphere. Human activity can have a very drastic effect on our world in a
relatively short amount of time. With the help of satellites and monitoring instruments, we can see
those effects and try to act on the data before any major damage is done. As humans continue to
pollute the environment, scientists continue to monitor the constant changes in the atmosphere and

It is such a striking feature in the Ptolemaic family that almost every scholar who had written about
Ptolemaic Egypt commented on the incest that took place between its family members (citation
PERIPD). The royal family resisted marriage with commoners or Egyptians with significantly lower
status and over time the Ptolemies began to abstain from exogamy altogether, marrying within
themselves. One of the main reasons of course, is because committing incest is a symbol of power.
There is also a cultural reason to it as well, derived from myths where the Greek goddess Gaia (Earth)
mated with her son Ouranos (Heaven) and brought order and structure out of chaos. However,
incestuous activity is mainly done to assert power and display dominance; committing the taboo set
the Ptolemies apart from ordinary standard rules of human behaviour (citation PERIPD). There is also
the desire to preserve the purity of royal blood and prevent it from being tainted by commoners and
outsiders. Finding a suitable and high status partner is another reason to participate in inbreeding. With
no other high status equivalent, the Ptolemies turn to their own family members as they are of equal
status and high rank and are sired from the same high class individuals. There is again the cultural
influence where in myths, gods marry each other and because the Ptolemies considered themselves
gods, incest was completely acceptable. Another benefit to incestuous marriage is the control of the
spread of genes. The male has reproductive control over his wife therefore by marrying her he is able
to counteract possible rivals. The relative shares some of the same genes as the king, so by making her
his wife, the king is preventing her from siring offspring with possible rivals and passing on his genes
to outsiders

Essay on The Power of Women in Richard III
The Power of Women in Richard III
In Shakespeare s The Tragedy of King Richard the Third, the historical context of the play is
dominated by male figures. As a result, women are relegated to an inferior role. However, they
achieve verbal power through their own discourse of religion and superstition. In the opening speech
of Act 1, Scene 2, Lines 1 30 Lady Anne orients the reader to the crucial political context of the play
and the metaphysical issues contained within it (Greenblatt, 509). Lady Anne curses her foes, using
strong language to indicate her authority. She speaks in blank verse, by which she utilizes imagery to

It is significant that her glowing, positive praise of the King is produced with the religious language of
holiness and honor which gives her power.
In addition to mourning the death of the King, she laments the fall of the House of Lancaster. The
dispute between the house of York and the house of Lancaster is the crucial background of the tragedy.
She asserts the right of the Lancaster dynasty rule in her statement: Th untimely fall of virtuous
Lancaster, / Thou bloodless remnant of that royal blood (1:2:6 7). Taken literally, the ashes, and the
bloodless King relate to a funeral pyre and the white skin tone of death. However the pale ashes, can
also be interpreted as the white rose which represents the King. A bloodless rose is also the white rose
of the King s shield. This division and conflict between the white rose and the red rose are outside the
sphere of Lady Anne s control. The War of the Roses is a war in the sense that it is within the male
sphere and she is unable to change the unhappy result of the dispute which results in the death of her
husband and father in law.
By addressing the ghost of the King, Lady Anne introduces the supernatural. At line 5 she turns from
the pallbearers to address the lifeless form of the King. She describes the figure of the king as key cold
(1:2:5) associating the imagery of the cold metal with the chill of death. Having

  • 2. Ancient World Civilizations And Modern Architecture... Ancient World Civilizations Ancient and Modern Architecture Assignment: The Pantheon Porch in Rome and the Wentworth Hall Entrance Wentworth Institute of Technology was founded by Arioch Wentworth in 1904 by selling his estate after he died on March 12, 1903. The main purpose of Arioch creating this building was to furnish education in the mechanical arts for many young men and train them in various skills to prepare for success in the future. On the other hand, the Pantheon in Rome was introduced originally as a temple dedicated to all the deities of pagan Rome. It was eventually sanctified and made into a Christian church in the later century. When taking a closer look at the Wentworth Hall and comparing it to the Pantheon Porch, some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout this comparison, I wish to discover the characteristics shared by both the Wentworth Hall and Pantheon and the special meanings behind these two old buildings. The history of the Pantheon project was originally from the emperor Augustus and built by the architect Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa. During the reign of the Roman emperor Titus, in approximately 80 A.D, the Pantheon temple was burned down in a fire. Eventually, the third Roman emperor Domitian of the Flavian dynasty rebuilt a new temple there, but this one was also destroyed in a fire in 110 A.D. Around 120 A.D Roman period, King Hadrian rebuilt the third Pantheon in a more modern style and this is the temple we have today. Apollodorus of Damascus, who was an architect designer during that period of time, assisted King Hadrian in rebuilding the best preserved Roman monument, the new Pantheon. The reconstruction of this project started soon after Hadrian became emperor and it was probably completed by 125 A.D. To honor Agrippa, Hadrian left a message over the door written in early Greek. Hadrian mentioned that he was the originally creator who had built the temple. The Pantheon building has had just a tremendously complex architectural history. When they built the Pantheon around 120 A.D, the skilled architects applied advanced engineering technology in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bits are usually strung together in a sequence eight bits normally equals one byte. Bits are used to write binary numbers, which can be used to store decimal numbers such as 244 or 93 as patterns of ones and zeroes. ASCII or American Standard Code for Information Interchange is a computer code that was developed to allow computers to convert human text into bits that computers could understand. In ASCII code, for example, the letter A is 65 a number that can then be converted into the binary value 1000001. In the 1960 s, the 7 bit ASCII table was first adopted. Within a 7 bit number, 128 different characters can be stored English letters from A Z (upper and lower case), numeric digits from 0 9 and special characters such as !/*+. The eighth bit was used to detect transmission errors. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Smithsonian Channel s Final Mystery April 15, 1912 the unsinkable Titanic had almost three hours before it was no longer afloat, but plunged to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. Blueprints, journal logs, and tons of witnesses were thoroughly inspected over the past 100 years to help solve the question agonizing question, why. For the 100 year remembrance of the tragic event, Smithsonian Channel released a documentary, Titanic s Final Mystery. Dedicated Titanic detective and historian, Tim Maltin releases his theory on how the unsinkable sank. Owner of the Titanic Joseph Bruce Ismay and head designer Thomas Andrews spent $7.4 million to build the finest ship of the time period. The process took longer than expected, setting the voyage behind three weeks. and had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The way that light passed through that air could have caused distortion to the look of objects by the horizon. This causing the ice berg kept from being seen until it was thirty seconds away and alter the Titanic s appearance to a nearby ship, which explains its lack of help when the ship set of distress calls. Maltin also points out other little things that lead to the sinking of the Titanic and the absence of enough life boats. One of the biggest errors made by the crew members was when the operator was listening to telegraphs sent in, looking out for any about the current ice situation ahead of time, he has accidentally skipped right over the one. The ship had just gotten to a place where they could receive telegraphs from the United States, the operator was overwhelmed with them. The message warning the titanic about the iceberg had been written in an informal manner, he thought it be nothing important before listening to it all. As the titanic began to sink only around 700 people were able to fit on the amount of life boats that the Titanic was stocked with. Critics shame the ship a lot for not having enough life boats for everyone aboard, but because the Board of Trade rewarded ships who didn t need as many life boats and the ship was fully believed to be unsinkable, the designer didn t see a reason to why they would need that many life ... • 6. Twelfth Night Mistaken Identity Essay Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare should be considered a comedy because it fulfills all the elements of comedy, specifically puns and mistaken identity. Twelfth Night is a play about twins who are shipwrecked and separated. One of the twins, Viola, disguises herself as a man so she can work in Duke Orsino s court. She quickly befriends him and is sent to woo Countess Olivia, the object of Orsino s affection. Much to her dismay, Viola falls in love with the Duke and Olivia falls in love with her disguised, masculine self. This hilarious play is a shakespearean comedy because it is composed of five elements: puns, complex plots, mistaken identity, happy endings, and insults. Puns are a play on words that create a double meaning. This can be confusing like complex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Typical in other shakespearean comedies, Twelfth Night immediately uses mistaken identity when Viola disguises herself as a man. But the most hysterical example of mistaken identity in Twelfth Night is Malvolio´s love letter. Malvolio is a pompous steward of Olivia who the other servants do not like. After being scolded by him, Maria, along with Sir Toby and another servant play a trick on Malvolio. Since Malvolio is secretly in love with Olivia, Maria forges a letter declaring her love for him in Olivia s penmanship. This leads Malvolio to believe Olivia loves him back. The letter asks Malvolio to show he loves her back by ¨let it appear in thy smiling¨ (Shakespeare). Now whenever Malvolio is in Olivia´s presence, he vows to smile. This is hilarious because Olivia is still mourning her brother´s death whilst he stands around her, smiling like an idiot. Maria pretended to be Olivia and now Malvolio looks like a fool. Her mistaken identity generates humor in the manner that Malvolio is humbled from his condescending position. Shakespeare s use of mistaken identity and puns makes Twelfth Night a ... Stallings, a mom is dealing with the loss of her most important job; being a mother. While of course she will always be a mom, something changes when her children are no longer feet from her. While for many, this is a depressing and somber change, the diction and tone of the poem suggests that for this particular speaker, the event of her children leaving home brings her a sense of relief and freedom. The diction of the poem is crucial in understanding the underlying meaning of the poem. • 8. The Autism Spectrum Disorder ( Asd ) Biology Coursework Introduction An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition that effects social interaction and behaviour. (1) It is relatively common in young children, with around 1% of 5 year olds being diagnosed. Both Asperger s Syndrome and Childhood Autism fall into the category of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Many reasons have been placed forward about how and why an ASD occurs in certain people. The majority accept that genetic factors are the most likely cause. Research is ongoing to find any genes that may increase the likelihood of developing an ASD. Aside from genetics, other factors such as environmental (i.e. upbringing) have been suggested as possible explanations. Recently, there was a scare in the UK when it was claimed the MMR (measles mumps rubella) vaccine was causing ASD in young children. (2)There was no link found between the two in studies however, but it demonstrates how an ASD can affect everyone s life at some point, and how quick it can act. Providing Solutions Over the past few years, many breakthroughs have been made when studying Autism and looking at potential solutions. Because of this, a number of potential treatments for the disorder have been suggested. Although incurable as it is genetic, Autism Spectrum Disorders are measured in severity. It is hoped treatment can lower the severity of individual cases of ASD. One particularly interesting potential treatment is the use of Levocarnitine Therapy in young children diagnosed with ... • 9. Wal-Mart, the Big Bad Wolf of the Economy Wal Mart is one of the largest corporations in America today. It serves to millions of consumers a day and is known for its motto lower prices everyday. For the last few years however, there has been the controversy of whether Wal Mart is truly good for the American economy or not. On one hand people believe Wal Mart is good for the economy because it saves the average consumer money due to the low priced products. Along with being an easy one stop shop where everything a person could possibly need is found there. Aside from the low prices and convenience, Wal Mart is bad for the American economy. Health Insurance has been another controversy in the debates of Wal Mart. Wal Mart employees, especially full time employees should get health care. The opposition to this is that aside from Starbucks no large employer gives health insurance to part time employees due to high costs of health care (Is Walmart Bad For The Economy). However compared with other large companies Wal Mart covers only 43% of employees with health insurance as oppose to the average 66% that other large companies cover. If Wal Mart were to reach the average coverage rate, they would be covering an additional 320,000 employees. Wal Mart employees are paid poorly if at all for their work and are rarely covered with health insurance. The Wal Mart corporation states that 90% of it s workers have health insurance. In actuality, the 90% who are covered, around 50% of those are insured because of their spouses employer, who, by the way, may be a union employer. Wal Mart is an anti union corporation. The first ever unionized Wal Mart was in Quebec, Canada. It was quickly shut down once is became unionized however, and this is not the only case like this. Many attempts have been made to change Wal Mart into a union employer, but all attempts have failed. Wal Mart is often portrayed as the big bad wolf of companies. It s accused of harming smaller mom and pop businesses. But it is in fact worse then that. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Identifying Substances Lab Report Identifying Substances Using Properties Purpose: To identify unknown substances by observing their physical and chemical properties (e.g. colour, state, clarity, crystal shape, behaviour in water, behaviour in acid), and comparing them to the physical and chemical properties of known substances. Hypothesis: I predict that by observing and testing the properties, as well as comparing them to those of known substances, we can identify all 5 of the unknown substances. I think this will happen because every substance has a physical and/or chemical property or properties that differentiates it from other substances, no matter how similar. For example, baking powder and baking soda. These two substances are similar physically white, powdery, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I almost mistook the sodium nitrate for salt because they also have similar chemical and physical traits they are both solid, white, clear, soluble in water, and dissolves in acid. However the sodium nitrate has crystal shape which is granular, and that is different from salt s crystal form, which is cubic. That is how I confirmed that sample C was sodium nitrate. Sample D was identified as sodium thiosulphate because of a chemical property its reaction to acid. When the two drops of hydrochloric acid was added, the sodium nitrate turned cloudy and yellow, which is a distinct trait of sodium thiosulphate. I did not mistake this substance for any other substance because its reaction with acid is what confirmed that it was sodium thiosulphate. Sample E was identified as chalk because of its behaviour in water, also known as its solubility. After the two drops of water were added to the chalk, and it was mixed, with a clean toothpick we saw that sample E did not mix with the water. Chalk is the only solid, out of the five, that is insoluble. I almost mistook sample E for baking soda because the two substances have very similar physical traits. Both substances are white, solid, opaque and a powder. However, chalk s reaction to water and acid is different from baking soda. The chalk is insoluble with water, and its reaction with acid is that it fizzes and some dissolves. Meanwhile, baking soda is soluble with water, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Essay on The Modern Relevance of Themes in James Joyce s... James Joyce is widely considered to be one of the best authors of the 20th century. One of James Joyce s most celebrated short stories is Eveline. This short story explores the theme of order and hazard and takes a critical look at life in Dublin, Ireland in the early 20th century. Furthermore, the themes that underlie Eveline were not only relevant for the time the story was wrote in, but are just as relevant today. The major theme explored in Eveline is the idea of order and hazard. In society, the idea of order has a lot more positive connotation than hazard. People often quote popular sayings such as life is not always greener on the other side of the pastor to indicate this belief. Contrary, the idea of taking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A second group of readers however see Joyce s reaction to Eveline as uncompassionate. These readers do not blame Eveline for not choosing to take a chance, but rather see Eveline as a sympathetic character. These people look at the decision that Eveline is faced with as very fortuitous, and therefore hold the belief that Eveline cannot be blamed for her decision not to leave Dublin. Other critics of Joyce have seen his fierce criticism of Eveline as chauvinistic. This argument is based on the idea that Joyce, a male author, does not have the right to criticize a female character, in this case Eveline. Furthermore, there is evidence outside of his criticism of Eveline that some would say furthers the case of Joyce s chauvinism. For example Joyce was once quoted as saying, Men are governed by lines of intellect women: by curves of emotion (Think Exist). Many quotes said by Joyce such as this one could be viewed as chauvinistic. Whether or not Joyce s criticism of Eveline is chauvinistic is up for debate, but one could definitely make the case that it is. Another major theme of Eveline is Joyce s criticism of life in Dublin in the early 20th century. One criticism Joyce has of the people of Dublin was covered above ,which, is he believed that they settled for routine over taking opportunities to make a better life for themselves. Joyce is perhaps critical of this trend to not settle for the norm ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was 5, my cousin Collin was 6, his sister Carley was 9, my other cousin Milan was also 9 and her brother Entonio was too old to be with kids like us. • 16. Serial Killers in the World Overview In the 1980s serial killers were understood to be a new development, a phenomenon frequently accredited to the excesses of American culture. It was a decade of change, one of freedom and great music. It was also a decade that brought the shock and fear of serial killers. Today it seems as if all societies have serial killers. People in today s society are left with questions such as: Who are they? Why are they so different? Why do they commit such horrific crimes? There are many theories that psychologists and sociologists have researched but found no definite answers. The Bureau of Justice Statistics partnership with MINCAVA reported that, between 1976 and 1994 there were an estimated 405,089 murders in the United States. Of these, the circumstances surrounding the murder are known in 317,925, or 78.5%. Among the cases with known circumstances, an estimated 4,807, or 1.5%, were classified as involving rape or another sex offense (Greenfeld 1997). Though the vast majority of violent sex offending involves males assaulting female victims, females account for a small percentage of known offenders, and males account for a small percentage of victims (Greenfeld, 1997). Serial killers are a disturbing piece of the puzzle of society that we must figure out to save the lives of the public in the future. Although the term serial killer loosly means killing serveral people by different means, there are those who are indeed survivors of these horrific acts and live to tell ... These disbursements included payments to the company s vendors that had been labeled as advances in the company s accounting records. The explanation that was given by the CBI s personnel was that when CBI is at its credit limit with a large vendor, the vendor may hold an order until they receive an advance, CBI then applies the advance to the existing A/P balance . E Y auditors readily accepted the explanation and chose not to record the items as unrecorded liabilities. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, FDI is said to be the most important contributing factor for Malaysia s economic performance. The early beginnings of luring foreign investors to Malaysian soil started with the introduction of the Investment Incentives Act 1968, and followed by the establishment of the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) during the Second Malaysia Plan (1971 75). Since then, Malaysia has attracted a large portion of the investment dollar that flowed into Asia. In 1995, for example, Malaysia was the second largest FDI recipient among Asian economies at US$ 5.8 billion. Malaysia recorded inward FDI of USD 7.3 billion and USD 6.3 billion in 1996 and 1997 respectively. The lower figures in 1997 may be attributed to the lack of confidence as a result of the Asian financial crisis but by 1998, figures indicate that investor confidence had improved. Malaysia s highest FDI inflow was recorded in 2007 when the amount surged to USD 8.4 billion from USD 6.0 billion in 2006. FDIs are private sector investments that are made by a company into a foreign country. Foreign direct investments create a strong demand for a local currency and help boost the economy. With money coming into a country, strong foreign direct investment is one way governments can finance current account deficits. However, just as funds flow in, they also can flow out,

  • 27. Iris Patterns Sarah Heimann Mr. Hickey PLS 3410 01 14 November 2017 Iris Patterns As time moves along and society becomes more technological, more techniques of solving crime with advanced technology are practiced. Not only can we solve crime with fingerprints and behavioral characteristics such as gait, voice, signature and odor, but we can also solve crime with the use of iris recognition. Iris recognition is a biometric identification method of identifying individuals based on their iris patterns. It has slowly been emerging, since 1994 into biometric technology as an alternate means to do the same job as fingerprinting. This paper will go into quite a bit of detail on the iris recognition system and explain the development of the iris and what the iris s function is for the eye and answer the questions that follow: are there any changes to the iris between birth and adulthood or even after death, how does the iris recognition system operate and what countries, if any, are currently exercising the use of the iris recognition system and how is it working out for them, is the iris recognition system reliable and do contacts and glasses effect the system in any way, and finally, can iris recognition be applied to an iris after death? First, one may be wondering what the function of the iris is in the eye. The iris is the plainly visible colored ring shaped membrane behind the cornea made entirely of connective tissues, smooth muscle fibers and pigments. It begins to form in the third month of gestation (development in the womb). The pigments of the eye are made of melanin (the same pigment that gives skin its color). The amount of pigment in the eye is what gives the eye its color. Lack of pigment gives one no color at all. These are the pink eyes of albinisms. Very little pigment gives the eye a blue color and then in increasing amounts of pigment give one green, hazel, and finally brown. The iris also controls the amount of light that reaches the retina. It has an adjustable round opening in the center that is called a pupil. It is responsible for controlling the diameter and size of that pupil. With the help of the pupil, the iris s function is to regulate the amount of light that gets into the eye. Too much or not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a first person narrator, tells the story through his point of view and interprets the events and characters in the novel. Nick is an unreliable narrator because he is biased on his interpretations of the characters and the events that occur, like Gatsby s death. For example, he speaks negatively of Tom throughout the novel, and speaks highly of Gatsby due to their relationship. Nick s interpretation of Gatsby s death is seen as unreliable because Nick s morals change, and he focuses the event on himself. This Research Paper Seeks To Understand The Current Economic This research paper seeks to understand the current economic relationship between individual/family assets within larger economic forces and theorize at possible responses though real estate development. Research will include how liquid asset poverty, liquid asset wealth, changing class structures, and increased student debt obligations affect the real estate market. Trends within the housing market will then be analyzed as well as initial market responses. Finally, a networked response between these considerations will be used as a proponent for a subsidized model for housing, the Ice House. This first research segment is designed to consider current situations specifically looking at aspects of liquid asset poverty and wealth along with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are individuals who if a situation is dire enough, can t even get a short term loan and are unfortunate targets for predatory lending schemes. In contrast to individuals struggling within Liquid asset poverty, the liquid asset rich individuals place other considerations onto the real estate markets. Since the measure of liquid asset poverty is a consideration of the amount of capital necessary over time, once the three months marker is met the metric lacks any definition as to what liquid asset wealth is measured by. For purposes of this research, I will define liquid asset wealth as a ceiling value of six months of living costs saved within easily liquidated assets. While it may be helpful to understand the effects of high liquid wealth within a context of real estate development, the author understands that an increase in wealth will not necessitate an increase in liquid assets due to the lower return on investment compared to illiquid assets. An investor who has more than six months of assets stored in a liquid manner is likely to not be using their assets in a responsible manner, assuming a reasonable investing market, it would be unlikely to see liquid assets rise with wealth instead of simply plateauing. The effects of these wealthier individuals has been documented within the work of Rodrigo Fernandez, annelore Hofman and Manuel B Aalbers in their article, London and New York as a safe deposit box for the transnational wealth elite. • 36. Medea s Quest For The Golden Fleece Synopsis The play of Medea was written by Seneca around 50 CE. In Greek Myth Medea is the daughter of King Aeetes of Colchis, granddaughter of Helios and niece of Circe. She seeks revenge on her husband Jason after he abandons her in Corinth in order to marry Creon s daughter. Over ten years before the start of the play Medea had met Jason when she assisted him in his quest for the Golden Fleece using her powers to aid him in impossible tasks that her father had set in front of Jason as his price for obtaining the Golden Fleece. As assisting Jason meant that she was betraying both her family and her country she fled with Jason to Thessaly. Their peace did not last long and they were forced to flee back to Corinth where everything was fine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is set on getting revenge for the wrongs done against her right from the beginning of the play. The Medea in Seneca s play is no weak damsel or victim of fate, she is a strong and powerful woman, a force of nature, who will destroy anyone or anything that wrongs her, even killing her sons without hesitation or lament. She demands to be feared rather than pitied and does not hesitate to do what she feels she must in order to right the wrongs against her. The Chorus Seneca s chorus is objective and does not hesitate in condemning the actions they are witnessing. This is fine because Medea does not need their sympathy or permission, she is a woman who makes things happen and does not rely on the gods. Jason In my opinion Jason takes the feminine role in the play. He comes across as rather weak and helpless allowing the fates to dictate his course rather than fighting. He is also too willing to try to help Medea and to trust her, when she pretends to have a change of heart. Also the fact that at the end of the play he laments to the gods able why they allow such things to happen, rather than vowing to avenge his son s deaths, confirms to me that he has taken the feminine role in the play. ... • 37. Human Impact On No2 And Company Comparison Human Activity Impact on NO2 and CO Comparison Lynn Dietrich Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars Abstract Human activity can change the world incredibly fast. We have to monitor those changes the best we can in order to understand any damage that is being done. We use satellites and specialized instruments to monitor the changes in our atmosphere. The levels of pollution that humans are responsible for has to be monitored so that any danger can be avoided. We have to study the components of the atmosphere to understand what is harmful and what is not. Human Activity Impact on NO2 and CO Comparison OMI, or Ozone Monitoring Instrument, is an instrument that records ozone and other atmospheric parameters (Brill). OMI monitors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is formed when hydrocarbon fuels are burned (Thompson). CO is mainly produced by industrial processes, some fires, and internal combustion engines (Blakemore and Jennett, 2016). Like NO2, the highest levels of carbon monoxide will be found in places with large cities and industries. Carbon monoxide has local and global effects. High amounts are dangerous to people s health locally. CO can be spread by winds throughout the troposphere, having a global effect (Ichoku). Carbon monoxide is being studied to see its role in atmospheric chemistry and the ability of the atmosphere to cleanse itself of harmful pollutants (Ichoku). Humans are the source of a huge amount of pollution. Human activity has caused nitrogen dioxide levels to rise. This rise has increased pollution levels and has hurt the atmosphere. Human activity has also caused carbon monoxide levels to rise, but unlike NO2, carbon monoxide can easily be spread around the world by wind. The spread of carbon monoxide has added to pollution and hurt the atmosphere. Human activity can have a very drastic effect on our world in a relatively short amount of time. With the help of satellites and monitoring instruments, we can see those effects and try to act on the data before any major damage is done. As humans continue to pollute the environment, scientists continue to monitor the constant changes in the atmosphere and other components to try and understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effects Of Inbreeding On Royal Families To further investigate the inbreeding and its implications within royal families, studies have been conducted regarding the Habsburg royal dynasty of Spain, which came to an end after the demise of Charles II, a severely inbred individual. Charles II, known as El Hechizado (The Hexed) was a severely disabled man who suffered from mental retardation, learning difficulties and many health problems. He was short, he had a large head compared to his body size, he had blood in his urine, he had difficulties chewing his food, and his two wives reported him to be impotent (citation KIIFHKOBBL). He did not talk until 4 years of age and he did not walk until he was 8 years old. He was also the victim of two recessive genetic disorders: combined pituitary ... It is such a striking feature in the Ptolemaic family that almost every scholar who had written about Ptolemaic Egypt commented on the incest that took place between its family members (citation PERIPD). The royal family resisted marriage with commoners or Egyptians with significantly lower status and over time the Ptolemies began to abstain from exogamy altogether, marrying within themselves. One of the main reasons of course, is because committing incest is a symbol of power. There is also a cultural reason to it as well, derived from myths where the Greek goddess Gaia (Earth) mated with her son Ouranos (Heaven) and brought order and structure out of chaos. However, incestuous activity is mainly done to assert power and display dominance; committing the taboo set the Ptolemies apart from ordinary standard rules of human behaviour (citation PERIPD). There is also the desire to preserve the purity of royal blood and prevent it from being tainted by commoners and outsiders. Finding a suitable and high status partner is another reason to participate in inbreeding. With no other high status equivalent, the Ptolemies turn to their own family members as they are of equal status and high rank and are sired from the same high class individuals. There is again the cultural influence where in myths, gods marry each other and because the Ptolemies considered themselves gods, incest was completely acceptable. Another benefit to incestuous marriage is the control of the spread of genes. The male has reproductive control over his wife therefore by marrying her he is able to counteract possible rivals. The relative shares some of the same genes as the king, so by making her his wife, the king is preventing her from siring offspring with possible rivals and passing on his genes to outsiders ... • 39. Essay on The Power of Women in Richard III The Power of Women in Richard III In Shakespeare s The Tragedy of King Richard the Third, the historical context of the play is dominated by male figures. As a result, women are relegated to an inferior role. However, they achieve verbal power through their own discourse of religion and superstition. In the opening speech of Act 1, Scene 2, Lines 1 30 Lady Anne orients the reader to the crucial political context of the play and the metaphysical issues contained within it (Greenblatt, 509). Lady Anne curses her foes, using strong language to indicate her authority. She speaks in blank verse, by which she utilizes imagery to emphasize her emotions and reinforce her pleas. Her speech clearly illustrates the distinction between the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is significant that her glowing, positive praise of the King is produced with the religious language of holiness and honor which gives her power. In addition to mourning the death of the King, she laments the fall of the House of Lancaster. The dispute between the house of York and the house of Lancaster is the crucial background of the tragedy. She asserts the right of the Lancaster dynasty rule in her statement: Th untimely fall of virtuous Lancaster, / Thou bloodless remnant of that royal blood (1:2:6 7). Taken literally, the ashes, and the bloodless King relate to a funeral pyre and the white skin tone of death. However the pale ashes, can also be interpreted as the white rose which represents the King. A bloodless rose is also the white rose of the King s shield. This division and conflict between the white rose and the red rose are outside the sphere of Lady Anne s control. The War of the Roses is a war in the sense that it is within the male sphere and she is unable to change the unhappy result of the dispute which results in the death of her husband and father in law. By addressing the ghost of the King, Lady Anne introduces the supernatural. At line 5 she turns from the pallbearers to address the lifeless form of the King. She describes the figure of the king as key cold (1:2:5) associating the imagery of the cold metal with the chill of death. Having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
