The Effects Of Universal Health Insurance Mandate On The...
This paper reviews the effects of the universal health insurance mandate in the Massachusetts labor
market. Using a difference in differences (DID) model, this study focuses on the co evolution of
insurance coverage and labor markets. One found that under the recent legislation, workers from firms
of varying sizes demonstrate different patterns with regards to obtaining insurance coverage. While
employer sponsored health insurance is designed to be the primary source of coverage for
Massachusetts residents under reform, two legal loopholes exist in the employer mandate. For mid
sized organizations, the probability of part time employees working without employer provided
insurance has increased.

Similar to Massachusetts insurance reform, the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(PPACA) also features insurance exchanges, individual and employer mandates, and expanded
Medicaid coverage. Due to the similarity between the Massachusetts health reform and the Affordable
Care Act, much can be learned from Massachusetts s experience on implementing health insurance
coverage expansions and employer provided universal insurance coverage law. In other words, this
case offers insight into how some businesses and their employees might react to federal law
requirements.
Several studies sought to investigate the effect of the universal health reform and its impact on the
labor market outcomes, such as the unemployment rate and average wage (Buchmueller, 2013;
Kolstad, 2012). However, they failed to take into account the potential legal loopholes in part time
status, employer provided coverage and Medicaid, and the impact of companies size, even though
studies have shown that employer provided regulations are not equally demanding to different
businesses (Gruber, 2004).
The primary purpose of this paper is to determine whether the Massachusetts healthcare reform has, in
fact, improved health insurance coverage. If the reform indeed improved the coverage, which channels
were utilized to accomplish this? In order to better assess this issue, one explored the

How Did Upton Sinclair Contribute To The Gilded Age
Though best known for his muckraking efforts that helped to end the Gilded Age, Upton Sinclair
wrote nearly a hundred books in his lifetime. From a young age his mother encouraged in him a love
of reading; when he could, Sinclair would read for up to fourteen hours a day. However, his childhood
was also marked by poverty and by his father s raging alcoholism. His mother took a strong sense of
morality against his father s drinking and of all types of sinning. These strict morals implanted in him
made the socialist party very appealing. Sinclair was willing to make small sacrifices for the greater
good, especially since he had seen how damaging poverty can be. This poverty, alcoholism, and
eventually socialism led to Sinclair s strong sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even going as far to run for mayor and a senatorial seat, Sinclair believed deeply in the socialist cause.
This theme shines in all of his works; in his most famous novel, The Jungle, Sinclair explores the evils
of capitalism. He even goes as far as to compare Jurgis journey through the corrupt urban jungle to
that of Dante through his Inferno, to hear this man describe the animals which came to his place would
have been worthwhile for a Dante or a Zola (Sinclair 80). Suitably, The Jungle and The Divine
Comedy were meant to be taken on both literal and allegorical levels; a point that many original
readers did not understand. Both Dante and Jurgis find salvation at the end of their journeys, Dante in
heaven, and Yurgis in socialism. Throughout The Jungle, Jurgis is searching for something to cling to
in belief. First Jurgis puts his faith in his work ethic and youth to allow him to rise out of poverty.
Then, when that fails in an accident, he puts his faith in his family; which becomes shattered when
Ona reveals that she was selling her body for money. His son s death pushed him over the edge, and
then he put his faith back in himself, this time as the wizened abuser of those who know less. The
judicial system, economic system, and his own morals fail Jurgis. In his despair, the light of socialism
shone through and

Feminism and the Marxist Theory in the Hunger Games
Title Annually in the country once known as North America, the nation of Panem uses their
dictatorship, they call the Capitol to rule over the twelve districts they have created. The Districts have
all had major revolts, as a response to these rebellions the government of the Capitol has enacted a
cruel intimidation tactic called The Hunger Games. It is a violent event televised nationally throughout
all of the districts where a male and female from each district is picked as a Tribute. These Tributes
must fight each other to the death and only one survivor will remain. The Hunger Games is the
governments approach of displaying the amount of power they posses over the demoralized people of
the twelve districts. The character of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a falsehood, not everyone can be rich, because as a capitalist regime that America runs under
that there will be inequality this includes poverty. A Capitalist society is divided into classes that are
defined by the place each class occupies in relation to the production of goods for sale. Owners and
investors possess accumulated wealth or capital that allows them to control the production of goods,
while workers, because they have no accumulated wealth or capital, must give over their lives to labor
in order to survive. (Ryan 59) Capitalism is defied by the investment of accumulated wealth in
production that exploits workers, extracts value from their labor, and turns it into profit and more
wealth for capitalist, causing societies to clash between those who own wealth and the means of
manufacturing goods and those who own nothing but their labor power and must sacrifice their lives
to the making of wealth for others in order to survive. (Ryan 60 61) The Marxist Theory is the struggle
between social classes within a society. Capitalism is the exploitation of the working class. The
working class has many issues such as shortcomings on food, shelter, and clothing things that us as
Americans would take for granite. Those who weren t a part of the working class were divulged in the
finer things that life had to offer, from elaborately colorful clothing to gourmet food. This movie is set

Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge
Forty five minutes south east from the city of San Francisco is an area I ve been meaning to write
about since I started this blog. Mostly because as an outdoor enthusiast I feel thrilled and somewhat
obligated to provide highlights for the conservational efforts that help preserve and protect the natural
world that I love. The Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is one such area.
Founded in 1974, by the congressman who is its namesake, this preserve spans 30,000 acres of salt
ponds, marshes, and open bay. It s notable not only for its ability to sun burn even the hardiest visitor,
but this place is an ornithologist s dream. Featuring a large diversity of wildlife from over 280 species
of birds (including raptors), endangered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But here in this coastal landscape I witnessed something that brought me to question the domination
of the apex predator. Rounding the path where the hills turn to marsh, a flock of birds swarmed
inflight before me. Watching, their movements seemed frantic. Diving and rising. Sporadically flying
this way or that. Some coming so close, that it felt as if I could reach out and touch them midflight.
And yet as they flew over my head I realized their motions weren t without form. They flew in unison.
Guided by instinct or habit or experience. The reason: predation. The flock of thrushes were harassing
a lone raptor. Probably because it ventured too near to their nest. The birds kept toe to toe with the
predator s dives and changes in direction. This seemingly defenseless prey was shepherding this
hunter. Working as group for their full survival. I watched them until they flew are beyond my sight.
Over the hills into the surrounding landscape. As I stood there for a while, with the smell of salt
lingering in the coastal air, I manage to lose myself in despite the closeness of industry around me. It
was a reminder that the nature is still so full of surprises. And without the contribution of others that I,
as well as the rest of the world around me, won t survive. For that I give thanks for all the hard work
of people who came before me. So that places so naturally wonderful, like this, still

Holden Caulfield Conflict Analysis
The Catcher in the Rye s main character, Holden Caulfield has a major problem of alienating himself
from the outside world. This proves to be the main conflict for Holden since it leaves him as a loner.
The root of this problem is Holden not being able to connect with other people or understand their
different backgrounds. When he encounters another person who seems to have conformed to a group
or status he calls them a phony . When Holden is using this term he is showing his own biased opinion
of the people around him. He often calls these people who seem to belong in a group phony since he
himself does not belong to a social group. Being alienated from pretty much everyone in his life
makes Holden very crass in the way he speaks to others

Analysis Of Paul Basden s A Congenial Way
Paul Basden begins his conversation on worship by seeking to define its meaning. However, the
reader will learn quickly that this task is easier said than done. Basden examines worship through
theological, biblical, and historical facets and ultimately determines that Worship has never been
practiced in all places by all people in one way (18). In order to discuss the various types of worship in
a congenial way, Basden introduces six authors that are charged with defending and critique each
other s methods.
First, Paul Zahl defines and defends the practice of formal liturgical worship. For Zahl, formal
liturgical worship is first and foremost vertical worship. Formal liturgical worship emphasizes
structure over spontaneity. Zahl defines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Best acknowledges that often in worship skirmishes what divides is not what is important, namely
truth, but instead what is temporal, namely music style. For Best, the most effective way to worship is
to rely upon the historical truth preserved in the hymn book.
In Chapter 3, Joe Horness sets forth an argument for contemporary music driven worship. This style of
worship has an emphasis on relationship. Horness seeks to set forth the true goal of contemporary
worship. It is not just about the instrumentation; instead it focuses on the communication. Horness
takes the reader personally through his journey from traditional worship to contemporary worship,
including his experience with Willow Creek Church. In his chapter, Horness promotes an emphasis on
connecting: connecting unbelievers with believers and ultimately, connecting all people with God. He
states, People of this generation are longing to experience the genuine presence of God. And God is
longing to move in and among the hearts of his people. If we will learn to worship from hearts that are
fully engaged, God will be glorified and set free to move in us and among us (104). Horness ends his
chapter with some brief warnings for those involved in the contemporary worship. He then encourages
all worshipers to seek above all to bring their best to God

European Colonialism In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe
Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart, and the reading African Challenge both look at the
consequences and benefits of European colonialism on the Igbo people and African culture. The novel
s main character is Okonkwo, who is the head the Umuofia clan, a Nigerian tribe. One of Okonkwo s
personal mission is to not be like his father, who he viewed as a coward and weak. Okonkwo s
accomplishes this mission by being obsessed with masculinity and viewing feminity in a derogatory
way. Okonkwo s hold over his clan is tested by the infusion of missionaries and along with them
colonialism into Nigeria. The African Challenge also talks about the European missionaries and their
mission to spread Christianity amongst the Igbo people and also about the beliefs that both societies
had about eachother. Through the incorporation of the Igbo language throughout his novel, and the
interactions of the Europeans with the Igbo people and their customs presented in both the novel and
African Challenge, we can see both the benefits and consequences that European colonialism had on
the Igbo society and African culture.
Both readings highlight how the Igbo people s insistence on sorcery and ancestral spirits leads to
conflict between the Europeans and the Igbo people. The first instance of conflict that arises in the
novel, is when a missionary to convert a village woman to Christianity, and accidentally kills an
ancestral spirit. This leads to the villagers burning the missionary s huts. The

The University Of Oregon School Of Law
Marlen Pikovsky Personal Statement I am applying to the University of Oregon School of Law to
compliment my experiences as an undergraduate and to take the next step on my path towards my
professional goals. In order to become a successful legal professional in the field of international
human rights, one needs to understand the intricate complexities of global communities. The
University of Oregon School of Law will broaden my vantage point to encompass other legal realities
of migration and human rights. The academics, programs, and faculty in the University of Oregon
School of Law will facilitate my career development, and also expand upon what I have learned thus
far as an undergraduate. If admitted, I would tailor my studies to meet my interests in migrant
populations and subsequently, use my law degree to aid vulnerable populations. Like many others, my
perspective and ambitions are driven and profoundly influenced by my family s history. As the
daughter of two Ukrainian refugee immigrants, I have learned firsthand how important it is to have
access to legal resources. While living in the Soviet Union, my family was repeatedly denied
community benefits because of their Jewish heritage. Religious and ethnic persecution impacted my
family s life in negative ways, minimizing their confidence and limiting their opportunities. However,
once they received assistance from an outreach program, they were able to receive asylum in the

A Summary Of The Torah And Tao Te Ching
Ancient text like the Torah and Tao Te Ching reveals what it means to be a successful human. ¬There
is a God who oversees the life of humans and determines if they have lived successfully. The Gods
have all the power so it is necessary to get on their good side. The Torah is the story of creation and
the beginning of time. The Tao Te Ching is the great book of the way of virtue. The Torah and Lao
Tzu s Tao Te Ching show that to be a successful human being it is necessary to be loyal to the God
figure in their religion, through following covenants, taking journeys, and being content with what is
given. Being a successful human in both The Torah and Tao Te Ching requires following the greatest
figure in the culture. In the Torah, the Lord ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All they need to do is praise the highest figure and they will be rewarded. Both the story from the
Torah and Tao Te Ching are similar and show the ideal human life because they both have characters
who get rewarded for respecting and follow the highest figure. These show that to be successful, it is a
necessity to follow these Gods.
In addition to following covenants, a successful life includes a journey in honor of someone. Taking a
journey in the honor of someone shows the selflessness in a person and the care they have for others.
Moses was a person in the Torah that was considered a successful person because he took a journey in
honor of another man. The Torah reads, I led you for forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes did
not fall from you in tatters nor your sandals from your feet; (Deuteronomy 29:4). This is the Lord
talking to Moses. Moses took a 40 year journey in honor of the Lord to show his faith towards him
and show he will do whatever he wants of him. The lord keeps Moses safe for these 40 years by not
letting him lose the protection of his clothing. They stayed in tack for 40 years. The Lord went to test
Moses to see if he could withstand this journey. Moses did all that he was asked and was successful
because of his loyalty throughout his Journey. Similarly, in the Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu writes The
Master gives himself up/ to whatever the moment brings (TTC 50). The Master is

The Basic Functions Of Management
Management Management is defined as the process of coordinating people, and other resources to
achieve the goals of an organization. Management consists of a variety of things and very active job
and duty. Management includes knowing basic management function, what types of managers there
are, skill sets required to be a manager, leadership quality, and decision making. Altogether these
different sections are taken in a much broader perspective diving into the four main resources of
management which consists of material resource, human resource, financial resource, and
informational resources. Through these different parts of the management system, each different part
will be looked at in depth and detail. Starting with what the basic ... Show more content on

This is just the start of what managers can use to implement change and randomly place into their
firms work order. Planning and organizing are not on a schedule.
Thirdly of the basic management of functions is leading and motivating. Working in a management
system, these things are kept to keeping a happy and respectable work environment. Leading is
defined as the process of influencing people to work toward a common goal, as motivating is
providing reasons for people to work. Kristine Tucker from small business stated Lead by example if
you are the manager who is lazy and accomplishes nothing, employees will follow. This is of great
importance to understand when in a manager position because as a manager it is of that person to be

Lastly, of the basic management functions is controlling. What this means is as a manager there is
always evaluating and regulating going on in the work environment, to ensure that all goals achieved.
Carter McNamara wrote, Delegation is an approach to get things done, in conjunction with other
employees. And continued to say Performance reviews provide an opportunity for supervisors and
their employees to regularly communicate about goals, how well those goals should be met, how well
the goals are being met and what must be done to continue to meet (or change) those

The Truth About Stories By Thomas King
In the book, the Truth About Stories, Thomas King sheds light on the power of stories. King explicitly
enforces that one must take caution in the way he or she tells a story, since it will shape one s
thoughts, decision making and future (2). Through the use of literature, King weaves his way through
native history, anecdote by anecdote, informing his readers about the importance of storytelling.
Stories are wondrous things, the author writes. And they are dangerous. (9). To prove this, King
mentions two creation stories; the differences in these stories is the way in which they are told. The
first is a famous native story called, the woman who fell from the sky ; this story is told in a complex,
persuasive way (10 20). This story discusses a society emphasizing the value of cooperation as the
animals work together to create a better world (21 22). The second story, a Judeo Christian biblical
story, describes a Western Capitalist society. It is told in a historical, punitive and direct fashion,
underlining a society of boundaries and punishment. King highlights that storytelling is not just simply
telling a story, rather it is how the stories are told. King uses these particular stories to show how
different stories shape people s perspectives, which impacts their ideas, thoughts and decision making.
Therefore he addresses how sensitive storytelling may be, for once a story is told, it can never be
taken back (10). This is true in all realms of life, cautioning

Why America Needs To Change

to change because we need a bigger punishment for rapists and murderers, we need better gun control,
and we need a stronger military.
First, America needs to change the way we punish rapists and murderers. I think we need to give
rapists and murderers a longer or harsher punishment. The way we punish rapists and murderers is too
easy for what they did to their victims. Murderers should have the same things happen to them as what
they did to their victims. Rapists should have life time in jail. America would be a better country

much water and they should be forced to cut back and save some water for the public even though the

In her article California has cut water to some farmers... Julia Lurie maintains that [California grows]
half of the fruits and veggies that are produced in the U.S. (Lurie 1). California produces 99% of
almonds. Consumers are becoming more demanding with the food production. According to The
Economist quarterly report on Agriculture suggests that by 2050 agricultural production will have to
rise by 70% to meet projected demand (The Economist 1). Because agriculture is vital to this specific
demand, these water cuts will make it nearly impossible for farmers to rise up to this challenge. As
most people know, water is extremely significant in obtaining well grown crops. These farmers are
willing to do this job but can not deliver if water restrictions keep growing on farmers.
To conclude, farmers require a large sum of water. But in the end, it pays off with crop production.
Farmers contribute a great deal deal to society. So California farmers should not suffer from water cuts
because as you have seen water cuts are growing on these farmers, temporary fixes don t have

Essay On Epilepsy
Sixty five million people around the world have epilepsy, three million of those alone are in the
United States. (Joseph I. Sirven MD and Patricia O. Shafer RN, 2014) What is epilepsy? According to
the U.S. National Library of Medicine, epilepsy is a disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of
paroxysmal brain dysfunction due to a sudden, disorderly, and excessive neuronal discharge. The
classification system for epilepsy is usually based upon: (1) clinical features of the seizure episodes,
(2) etiology, (3) anatomic site of seizure origin, (4) tendency to spread to other structures in the brain,
and (5) temporal patterns.

Deloitte s Diagnosis Of Sks
Deloitte s Diagnosis of SKS: During the planning meeting, the Deloitte Consulting Group correctly
identified some of the key issues hindering SKS Manufacturing s performance. For starters, we
believe that Wattley Davis correctly recommended a multi pronged approach to fix the SKS short term
business and manufacturing problems. Like Deloitte, our team also identified problems with the firm s
cost structure and inventory levels that could be alleviated by synchronizing the production and
procurement processes. The Consulting Group structured goals to develop scheduling rules, relieve
severe bottlenecks, and reduce the need for buffer inventory. Also, the Deloitte Touche team s goal to
design and implement a pull based synchronous manufacturing, originally a 12 week plan, can and
will definitely help SKS integrate and increase efficiency across all business departments. However,
with only six weeks remaining in the engagement period, efforts must now be focused on resolving
the firm s shortage of cash flows and high inventory levels. Key Issues SKS Manufacturing Faces: (1)
A Cash flow shortage (2) Poor business integration across the firm s departments (3) The Production
and Procurement processes affecting on time delivery Problem Summary: Due to a lack of internal
integration and effective control systems to oversee procurement and production, SKS Manufacturing
has seen higher inventory levels and lower customer satisfaction due to declining on time

Developing World And Secondly Canada s Responsibility Of...
This paper considers two issues: firstly, human rights in the developing world and secondly Canada s
responsibility of humanitarian assistance. Both issues are of grave importance and are mutually
exclusive as nations lacking strong human rights standards are more likely to require the greatest
humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the need for humanitarian assistance will increase as global
crises become more frequent, due to climate change insecurity (Adger, Huq, Brown, Conway Hulme,
2003). The example of climate change will be utilised throughout this paper to explore the disparaging
links between climate justice and human rights. In defining humanitarian assistance this paper will
take Jamieson s (2004) definition that humanitarian assistance is a response to crises via support in the
short term to overcome disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Whereas, development assistance
considers the longer term issues in developing countries. By defining the two main types of assistance
this paper will propose that greater investment into development aid may reduce the need for
humanitarian aid as nations become more capable to support themselves. The body of this paper will
consider key arguments concerning humanitarian assistance and human rights, including: Canadas
humanitarian response in the developing world, the increasing need for global crisis response, human
rights as a global responsibility and lastly the move from humanitarian to development assistance. In

How Did Roentgen Contribute To The Discovery Of X-Rays
He continued his experiments by using photographic plates, as opposed to screens, which resulted in
the creation of a photograph. Roentgen received quite a lot of recognition for his discovery. In fact, he
received many scientific prizes and awards. Also, many streets were named after him and he was
granted honorary memberships into societies both in Germany, and abroad. However, Roentgen
remained a modest man (Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen, n.d.)
The discovery of x rays revolutionized the entire medical profession, and provided a basis for
diagnostic radiology. The x ray showed the internal structures of the human body, without having to
resort to surgery. Roentgen s discovery of x rays was a discovery that would benefit mankind for
years.

Schema Theory And The Schema Theory
Schema theory
Humans live and operate by using past experiences, which enables them to think in the present and
about the future. Why is it that the past still plays an important role in everyday lives and is not
forgotten? The answer is allegedly because of memory. Mental representations are how we store
images in our memory, what we already know affects the way we define events and store knowledge.
The structures and processes involved in the storage and retrieval of information comes in the three
stages; encoding, storage and recovery. The way the mind process memory is influenced by the
schema theory as cognitive theory about information processing. The term schema was introduced my
Piaget and this idea was later brought back into psychology and education by Bartlett. Schema theory
proposes that what we already know influences the outcome of information processing. Piaget had
three factors to the cognitive theory and the schema theory happened to be one of them. He described
the schema as a cohesive, repeatable action sequence possessing component actions that are tightly

Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling
Homeschooling was first introduced in the 1972. In a case Supreme Court case Wisconsin vs. Yoder
they fought over the fact that public schools were violating their religious beliefs. The court decided to
rule in favor of religious freedom, instead of favoring the states who wanted to require public
education for everyone. The ruling that the Supreme Court made did not allow the homeschooled
parents to teach the kids however the want. The government was still allowed to intervene to check the
child s mental and physical health (Homeschooling, 2017). The main reason the homeschooling began
was because of religious reason. Parents didn t want public education to be forced onto their child,
since it may of went against their religion. There are even more reasons now to be homeschooled. It
would be for religious reasons, or it could be for health reasons. Many parents believe that when their
child is being homeschooled they are getting a better, more personalized education. Although
homeschooling is seen as not being a viable alternative for public school,it should be. Students who
are homeschooled have more skills, and receive a better education in primary school. This will help
them greatly once they graduate high school, and go onto college, and even in the workforce.
HIghschooling should be a more prominent option for all students. Although proponents say that
homeschooling doesn t properly prepare children for the future, homeschooling allows children to have

The Inferno Of Dante Alighieri
The Inferno of Dante Alighieri translated by Ciaran Carson, originally written by Dante himself is a
classical piece of literature. It is the first part of Dante s three part epic poem entitled, The Divine
Comedy . The Inferno of Dante Alighieri transports the reader into a gradual ride, going from an
familiar and earthly land, to descending the depths of Hell in the search of salvation. The imagery
conjured up while reading this book is plentiful as Dante s writing is impeccable. Naturally, with such
narrative content, later artists would look at this great work and become inspired themselves. A work I
would like to discuss is one by the Italian painter, Sandro Botticelli entitled, Dante and Beatrice in the
Stars . With support of Reading Dante s Stars a work by Alison Cornish, I feel that the stars as a motif
not in the Inferno played a significant role in establishing the setting and the ego of the self. I feel like
this Botticelli s work alters the meaning of Dante by giving us a visual mechanism to help us
understand Dante s experience in this world, which is dictated by the decisions made of these
individuals that are based upon the perversions of love or manifestations of God s love.
Dante in real life is caught in a tricky situation in his hometown of Florence. It is a time where there
are opposing political parties that cause great strife in his city which consequently banished him out.
The time where he wanders in real life is an obvious parallel to the

The Development of AI in The AI Revolution is on by...
When the earth began there was no life, it was a world of fire and oceans of lava, after thousands of
year s life began in the ocean and soon came onto land. The land creatures developed into dinosaurs
which ruled the world for thousands of years until a meteor wiped them out and a great ice age came.
Once the ice age ended monkeys came and from them humans. We have been around for two thousand
years and now we have created artificial intelligence which is becoming more and more integrated
into our ever increasingly complicated world to make it simpler but have humans also created the next
cycle of evolution? The AI Revolution is on by Steven Levy is about Artificial intelligence (AI). Levy
writes about how the AI came around and how it affects our daily life. Levy explains impeccably how
its developers strayed away from imitating human intelligence, and how it is integrated into our
society. Levy has been reporting on digital technology for over twenty five years and his articles have
been published in many distinguished magazines according to Writing and Reading Across the
Curriculum. Levy s article begins by talking about how robots are used in ware houses that are linked
to a main computer that tells the robots what they need to get. The ware house is organized in small
groups of products spread out threw out it, this way the robots don t have to travel as far to get the
product but to a human it looks like a random pile or stuff that isn t sorted at all. Levy goes on

According to your belief, because quality is not definable and is is not based on pure transcendental
knowledge, it is false. Nevertheless, I will attempt to explain to you where your principles seem to fall
short. Quality is scientifically immeasurable and therefore cannot or must not be defined. However
this does not mean it doesn t exist or that it cannot be justified. I now invite you to picture a world
where good and bad has been removed. On the principles of realism, a thing exists of a world cannot
function without it normally . I will attempt to show you the way in which this principle applies to the
existence of quality. A world without good and bad would be meaningless and without purpose. Art,
sports, dance, comedy, flavor, in fact all that relies on the senses would be ruined. The masses would
not be able to tell what was good from bad, funny from boring, bland from savory; life would be
utterly boring. Although the world can function without quality it clearly cannot function normally,
therefore, quality indeed exists regardless if it is defined or not. In fact Quality is what makes up
reality, it is the parent of knowledge, the source of all subjects and objects.
Plato: Such a notion is ridiculous. Truth is based on fixed and defined principles. What you describe as
quality are ever changing sensory experiences and therefore cannot be justified without a preceding

Thousands of new products are introduced each year and many of them fail, failure and success rates
vary in different industries and from company to another, some studies suggest that consumer products
are more likely to fail than those directed at business markets. Products fail for many reasons, one of
the most common reason is the company s failure to match product offerings to customer needs, when
products do not offer value and lack the features customers want, they fail in the marketplace, other
reasons often given for new product failure include technical or design problems, poor timing,

Aristotle s Three Artistic Proofs
Persuasion consists of artistic and inartistic proof. This theory comes from the great Greek philosopher
Aristotle. Artistic proof is controlled by the persuader who can control the choice of evidence, the
organization of the persuasion, style of delivery, and language choices. Aristotle believed that there
were three main types of artistic proof, ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is persuasion depending on a
source s credibility. Pathos uses the emotions to appeal to people. Lastly, logos uses the idea of logical
and rational appeals. By implementing the three artistic proofs when raising awareness for the disease

they will be aware of the symptoms and be able to educate others. Grasping what people with this

Characterisation Of Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s...
Shakespeare created the character of Iago in a complex way that made critics differ when interpreting
the role he played in the Othello drama. A.C. Bradley consider that the tragedy is the undoing of the
noble Moor by the devilish cunning of Iago, (1963[1952], p. 137). It was external evil, the malice of
the devil, that turned a happy story of romantic lovers who were capable to live happily ever after, so
to speak into a tragedy while literary critic F. R. Leavis attacks the Bradley view, asserting that the fact
is that in Shakespeare s tragedy of Othello Othello is the chief personage the chief personage in such a
sense that the tragedy may fairly be said to be Othello s character in action. Iago is subordinate and
merely ancillary. (p. 138).
Surely there is some truth in both views. Whether we agree or disagree with these views depends on
how we read the whole play, and how we understand Shakespeare s characterisation of Othello and
Iago throughout.

  • 2. The Effects Of Universal Health Insurance Mandate On The... This paper reviews the effects of the universal health insurance mandate in the Massachusetts labor market. Using a difference in differences (DID) model, this study focuses on the co evolution of insurance coverage and labor markets. One found that under the recent legislation, workers from firms of varying sizes demonstrate different patterns with regards to obtaining insurance coverage. While employer sponsored health insurance is designed to be the primary source of coverage for Massachusetts residents under reform, two legal loopholes exist in the employer mandate. For mid sized organizations, the probability of part time employees working without employer provided insurance has increased. 1. Introduction Since the Patient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to Massachusetts insurance reform, the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) also features insurance exchanges, individual and employer mandates, and expanded Medicaid coverage. Due to the similarity between the Massachusetts health reform and the Affordable Care Act, much can be learned from Massachusetts s experience on implementing health insurance coverage expansions and employer provided universal insurance coverage law. In other words, this case offers insight into how some businesses and their employees might react to federal law requirements. Several studies sought to investigate the effect of the universal health reform and its impact on the labor market outcomes, such as the unemployment rate and average wage (Buchmueller, 2013; Kolstad, 2012). However, they failed to take into account the potential legal loopholes in part time status, employer provided coverage and Medicaid, and the impact of companies size, even though studies have shown that employer provided regulations are not equally demanding to different businesses (Gruber, 2004). The primary purpose of this paper is to determine whether the Massachusetts healthcare reform has, in fact, improved health insurance coverage. If the reform indeed improved the coverage, which channels were utilized to accomplish this? In order to better assess this issue, one explored the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Did Upton Sinclair Contribute To The Gilded Age Though best known for his muckraking efforts that helped to end the Gilded Age, Upton Sinclair wrote nearly a hundred books in his lifetime. From a young age his mother encouraged in him a love of reading; when he could, Sinclair would read for up to fourteen hours a day. However, his childhood was also marked by poverty and by his father s raging alcoholism. His mother took a strong sense of morality against his father s drinking and of all types of sinning. These strict morals implanted in him made the socialist party very appealing. Sinclair was willing to make small sacrifices for the greater good, especially since he had seen how damaging poverty can be. This poverty, alcoholism, and eventually socialism led to Sinclair s strong sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even going as far to run for mayor and a senatorial seat, Sinclair believed deeply in the socialist cause. This theme shines in all of his works; in his most famous novel, The Jungle, Sinclair explores the evils of capitalism. He even goes as far as to compare Jurgis journey through the corrupt urban jungle to that of Dante through his Inferno, to hear this man describe the animals which came to his place would have been worthwhile for a Dante or a Zola (Sinclair 80). Suitably, The Jungle and The Divine Comedy were meant to be taken on both literal and allegorical levels; a point that many original readers did not understand. Both Dante and Jurgis find salvation at the end of their journeys, Dante in heaven, and Yurgis in socialism. Throughout The Jungle, Jurgis is searching for something to cling to in belief. First Jurgis puts his faith in his work ethic and youth to allow him to rise out of poverty. Then, when that fails in an accident, he puts his faith in his family; which becomes shattered when Ona reveals that she was selling her body for money. His son s death pushed him over the edge, and then he put his faith back in himself, this time as the wizened abuser of those who know less. The judicial system, economic system, and his own morals fail Jurgis. In his despair, the light of socialism shone through and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Feminism and the Marxist Theory in the Hunger Games Title Annually in the country once known as North America, the nation of Panem uses their dictatorship, they call the Capitol to rule over the twelve districts they have created. The Districts have all had major revolts, as a response to these rebellions the government of the Capitol has enacted a cruel intimidation tactic called The Hunger Games. It is a violent event televised nationally throughout all of the districts where a male and female from each district is picked as a Tribute. These Tributes must fight each other to the death and only one survivor will remain. The Hunger Games is the governments approach of displaying the amount of power they posses over the demoralized people of the twelve districts. The character of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a falsehood, not everyone can be rich, because as a capitalist regime that America runs under that there will be inequality this includes poverty. A Capitalist society is divided into classes that are defined by the place each class occupies in relation to the production of goods for sale. Owners and investors possess accumulated wealth or capital that allows them to control the production of goods, while workers, because they have no accumulated wealth or capital, must give over their lives to labor in order to survive. (Ryan 59) Capitalism is defied by the investment of accumulated wealth in production that exploits workers, extracts value from their labor, and turns it into profit and more wealth for capitalist, causing societies to clash between those who own wealth and the means of manufacturing goods and those who own nothing but their labor power and must sacrifice their lives to the making of wealth for others in order to survive. (Ryan 60 61) The Marxist Theory is the struggle between social classes within a society. Capitalism is the exploitation of the working class. The working class has many issues such as shortcomings on food, shelter, and clothing things that us as Americans would take for granite. Those who weren t a part of the working class were divulged in the finer things that life had to offer, from elaborately colorful clothing to gourmet food. Mostly because as an outdoor enthusiast I feel thrilled and somewhat obligated to provide highlights for the conservational efforts that help preserve and protect the natural world that I love. The Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is one such area. Founded in 1974, by the congressman who is its namesake, this preserve spans 30,000 acres of salt ponds, marshes, and open bay. It s notable not only for its ability to sun burn even the hardiest visitor, but this place is an ornithologist s dream. But here in this coastal landscape I witnessed something that brought me to question the domination of the apex predator. Rounding the path where the hills turn to marsh, a flock of birds swarmed inflight before me. Watching, their movements seemed frantic. Diving and rising. Sporadically flying this way or that. Some coming so close, that it felt as if I could reach out and touch them midflight. And yet as they flew over my head I realized their motions weren t without form. They flew in unison. Guided by instinct or habit or experience. The reason: predation. The flock of thrushes were harassing a lone raptor. Probably because it ventured too near to their nest. The birds kept toe to toe with the predator s dives and changes in direction. This seemingly defenseless prey was shepherding this hunter. Working as group for their full survival. I watched them until they flew are beyond my sight. Over the hills into the surrounding landscape. As I stood there for a while, with the smell of salt lingering in the coastal air, I manage to lose myself in despite the closeness of industry around me. It was a reminder that the nature is still so full of surprises. And without the contribution of others that I, as well as the rest of the world around me, won t survive. • 6. Holden Caulfield Conflict Analysis The Catcher in the Rye s main character, Holden Caulfield has a major problem of alienating himself from the outside world. This proves to be the main conflict for Holden since it leaves him as a loner. The root of this problem is Holden not being able to connect with other people or understand their different backgrounds. When he encounters another person who seems to have conformed to a group or status he calls them a phony . When Holden is using this term he is showing his own biased opinion of the people around him. • 7. Analysis Of Paul Basden s A Congenial Way Paul Basden begins his conversation on worship by seeking to define its meaning. However, the reader will learn quickly that this task is easier said than done. Basden examines worship through theological, biblical, and historical facets and ultimately determines that Worship has never been practiced in all places by all people in one way (18). In order to discuss the various types of worship in a congenial way, Basden introduces six authors that are charged with defending and critique each other s methods. First, Paul Zahl defines and defends the practice of formal liturgical worship. For Zahl, formal liturgical worship is first and foremost vertical worship. Formal liturgical worship emphasizes structure over spontaneity. Zahl defines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Best acknowledges that often in worship skirmishes what divides is not what is important, namely truth, but instead what is temporal, namely music style. For Best, the most effective way to worship is to rely upon the historical truth preserved in the hymn book. In Chapter 3, Joe Horness sets forth an argument for contemporary music driven worship. This style of worship has an emphasis on relationship. Horness seeks to set forth the true goal of contemporary worship. It is not just about the instrumentation; instead it focuses on the communication. Horness takes the reader personally through his journey from traditional worship to contemporary worship, including his experience with Willow Creek Church. In his chapter, Horness promotes an emphasis on connecting: connecting unbelievers with believers and ultimately, connecting all people with God. He states, People of this generation are longing to experience the genuine presence of God. And God is longing to move in and among the hearts of his people. If we will learn to worship from hearts that are fully engaged, God will be glorified and set free to move in us and among us (104). Horness ends his chapter with some brief warnings for those involved in the contemporary worship. He then encourages all worshipers to seek above all to bring their best to God ... • 8. European Colonialism In Things Fall Apart By Chinua Achebe Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart, and the reading African Challenge both look at the consequences and benefits of European colonialism on the Igbo people and African culture. The novel s main character is Okonkwo, who is the head the Umuofia clan, a Nigerian tribe. One of Okonkwo s personal mission is to not be like his father, who he viewed as a coward and weak. Okonkwo s accomplishes this mission by being obsessed with masculinity and viewing feminity in a derogatory way. Okonkwo s hold over his clan is tested by the infusion of missionaries and along with them colonialism into Nigeria. The African Challenge also talks about the European missionaries and their mission to spread Christianity amongst the Igbo people and also about the beliefs that both societies had about eachother. Through the incorporation of the Igbo language throughout his novel, and the interactions of the Europeans with the Igbo people and their customs presented in both the novel and African Challenge, we can see both the benefits and consequences that European colonialism had on the Igbo society and African culture. Both readings highlight how the Igbo people s insistence on sorcery and ancestral spirits leads to conflict between the Europeans and the Igbo people. The first instance of conflict that arises in the novel, is when a missionary to convert a village woman to Christianity, and accidentally kills an ancestral spirit. The University of Oregon School of Law will broaden my vantage point to encompass other legal realities of migration and human rights. The academics, programs, and faculty in the University of Oregon School of Law will facilitate my career development, and also expand upon what I have learned thus far as an undergraduate. If admitted, I would tailor my studies to meet my interests in migrant populations and subsequently, use my law degree to aid vulnerable populations. Like many others, my perspective and ambitions are driven and profoundly influenced by my family s history. As the daughter of two Ukrainian refugee immigrants, I have learned firsthand how important it is to have access to legal resources. While living in the Soviet Union, my family was repeatedly denied community benefits because of their Jewish heritage. Religious and ethnic persecution impacted my family s life in negative ways, minimizing their confidence and limiting their opportunities. The most intense battles of the cola wars were fought over the $60 billion industry in the United States, where the average American consumed 53 gallons of carbonated soft drinks (CSD) per year. In a carefully waged competitive struggle, from 1975 to 1995 both Coke and Pepsi achieved average annual growth of around 10% as both U.S. and worldwide CSD consumption consistently rose. • 14. The Truth About Stories By Thomas King In the book, the Truth About Stories, Thomas King sheds light on the power of stories. King explicitly enforces that one must take caution in the way he or she tells a story, since it will shape one s thoughts, decision making and future (2). Through the use of literature, King weaves his way through native history, anecdote by anecdote, informing his readers about the importance of storytelling. Stories are wondrous things, the author writes. And they are dangerous. (9). To prove this, King mentions two creation stories; the differences in these stories is the way in which they are told. The first is a famous native story called, the woman who fell from the sky ; this story is told in a complex, persuasive way (10 20). This story discusses a society emphasizing the value of cooperation as the animals work together to create a better world (21 22). The second story, a Judeo Christian biblical story, describes a Western Capitalist society. It is told in a historical, punitive and direct fashion, underlining a society of boundaries and punishment. King highlights that storytelling is not just simply telling a story, rather it is how the stories are told. King uses these particular stories to show how different stories shape people s perspectives, which impacts their ideas, thoughts and decision making. Therefore he addresses how sensitive storytelling may be, for once a story is told, it can never be taken back (10). This is true in all realms of life, cautioning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Developing World And Secondly Canada s Responsibility Of... This paper considers two issues: firstly, human rights in the developing world and secondly Canada s responsibility of humanitarian assistance. Both issues are of grave importance and are mutually exclusive as nations lacking strong human rights standards are more likely to require the greatest humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the need for humanitarian assistance will increase as global crises become more frequent, due to climate change insecurity (Adger, Huq, Brown, Conway Hulme, 2003). The example of climate change will be utilised throughout this paper to explore the disparaging links between climate justice and human rights. In defining humanitarian assistance this paper will take Jamieson s (2004) definition that humanitarian assistance is a response to crises via support in the short term to overcome disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Whereas, development assistance considers the longer term issues in developing countries. By defining the two main types of assistance this paper will propose that greater investment into development aid may reduce the need for humanitarian aid as nations become more capable to support themselves. The body of this paper will consider key arguments concerning humanitarian assistance and human rights, including: Canadas humanitarian response in the developing world, the increasing need for global crisis response, human rights as a global responsibility and lastly the move from humanitarian to development assistance. • 25. Schema Theory And The Schema Theory Schema theory Humans live and operate by using past experiences, which enables them to think in the present and about the future. Why is it that the past still plays an important role in everyday lives and is not forgotten? The answer is allegedly because of memory. Mental representations are how we store images in our memory, what we already know affects the way we define events and store knowledge. The structures and processes involved in the storage and retrieval of information comes in the three stages; encoding, storage and recovery. The way the mind process memory is influenced by the schema theory as cognitive theory about information processing. The ruling that the Supreme Court made did not allow the homeschooled parents to teach the kids however the want. The government was still allowed to intervene to check the child s mental and physical health (Homeschooling, 2017). The main reason the homeschooling began was because of religious reason. Parents didn t want public education to be forced onto their child, since it may of went against their religion. There are even more reasons now to be homeschooled. It would be for religious reasons, or it could be for health reasons. Many parents believe that when their child is being homeschooled they are getting a better, more personalized education. Although homeschooling is seen as not being a viable alternative for public school,it should be. Students who are homeschooled have more skills, and receive a better education in primary school. It is the first part of Dante s three part epic poem entitled, The Divine Comedy . The Inferno of Dante Alighieri transports the reader into a gradual ride, going from an familiar and earthly land, to descending the depths of Hell in the search of salvation. The imagery conjured up while reading this book is plentiful as Dante s writing is impeccable. With support of Reading Dante s Stars a work by Alison Cornish, I feel that the stars as a motif not in the Inferno played a significant role in establishing the setting and the ego of the self.
