Motorcycle Helmet History
It s not set in stone, but it is thought that the earliest motorcycle was built in 1885 by Gottlieb Daimler.
A simple device, not intended for high speed, there was no thought for head protection. Indian
followed suit in 1902, followed closely by Harley Davidson in 1903, with motorcycles that went faster
than the predecessor. These two builders battled it out for fastest bikes in the interim of 1931 and
1953, and as their bikes got faster, so did the fatality rate from motorcycles crashes climb.
The history of the modern motorcycle helmet began in 1953 when Professor C.F. Lombard, known as
Red, of the University of Southern California (USC), applied for a patent for a motorcycle helmet that
featured a dual layer of padding focused on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The United States in 1966, the American National Safety Standard for Motorcycle Helmets was

The Highway Safety Act of 1966 was introduced by the federal government which stated that helmet
laws in all states were required to be eligible for federal funding for highway maintenance and
construction. In 1974 the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) set safety standards that every
motorcycle helmet was required to pass and all helmets must be inspected and have a DOT sticker to
prove that the helmet passed the inspection and met the minimum requirements. The USC Head
Protection Research Laboratories lobbied the federal government in 1997 to upgrade these standards.
Back to 1977, for reasons unknown, the federal government repealed the helmet law and within three
years half of the states followed suit and repealed their own helmet laws. Motorcycle injuries and
fatalities rose sharply, seems the people forgot that 80% of motorcycle accidents resulted in injury or
death. Statistics show that a motorcyclist is twenty one times per driven mile more likely to be killed
than persons driving cars.

Critique of Stanley Milgram’s “Behavioral Study of Obedience”
A Critique of Stanley Milgram s Behavioral Study of Obedience Stanley MIlgram is a Yale University
social psychologist who wrote Behavioral Study of Obedience , an article which granted him many
awards and is now considered a landmark. In this piece, he evaluates the extent to which a participant
is willing to conform to an authority figure who commands him to execute acts that conflict with his
moral beliefs. Milgram discovers that the majority of participants do obey to authority. In this
research, the subjects are misled because they are part of a learning experience that is not about what
they are told. This experiment was appropriate despite this. Throughout the process, subjects are
exposed to various signs that show them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Milgram s findings, the fact that people were inclined to obey to authority figures was already
realized. He just confirmed this belief. Milgram followed effective steps by using precise procedures.
He made sure that the experiment reflected features of an actual situation in which a person would
obey to an authority figure: offering compensation (monetary reward in this experiment), being under
pressure (Prods 1 to 4 in this case), and mentioning that the person who obeys can withdraw. These
features can also be seen in a situation where a soldier is commanded to fire, for instance. A soldier
will get a monetary compensation, is under pressure to obey because he chose to be part of the
military, and he knows that he can resign at any time. Milgram created an experiment so precise and
detailed that more than enough evidence was demonstrated. In this experiment, subjects are explained
that this is a learning experiment to ... study the effects of punishment on memory (4). Yet, the real
intention here is to measure the participants compliance towards the experimenter. This controversy is
unethical as subjects are volunteering for a cause that does not exist. They are misled since they are
not exposed to the real purpose of this study. Nevertheless, this experiment was appropriate.
Throughout the process, participants are exposed to various indications about the intensity of the
experiment. If the question about

Impact Of China s Economic Impact On Australian Property
The introduction The research shows that China has become enormously important to Australia s
economy as its largest export destination, a rapid source of growth in inbound international tourism
and migration, plus a strong source of foreign investment. (Leigh W, 2015) Due to report of Australia
s government records, since 30 June 2015, 28.2% of Australia s estimated resident population was
born overseas. And the number of people who comes from china is the third largest group of Australia
s estimated resident population group (excluding people born in Australia). (Migration, 2015) as we
know, ever since 1980s, China s students flock into Australia to study. After they finished their study,
quite a fair amount of them decide to get Australia s PR or citizenship and stay in Australia. If people
decide to stay, they need a place to live. So these students certainly brought huge impact to Australia s
real estate industry. The impact of China s imigrat on Australian property has been both indirect
through the impact on the broader economy and direct through capital flows and Chinese developers
building Australian businesses. (Leigh W, 2015) so, understanding the new generation of China s
immigrate or will be is significant to Australia s real estate company if they want to be successful. And
this literature review is focusing on analysis the characteristics of the chosen target market China s Me
generation. The Body of Reviews China s me generation means the people who

INTRODUCTION Owing to the developed technology and cheap prices, wireless networks have
increased more preferences over wired networks in the previous few decades.Mobile Ad hoc Network
(MANET) is agroup of mobile nodes armed with both a wirelesstransmitter and a receiver that
connect with each othervia bidirectional wireless links either directly or indirectly. One of themajor
benefits of wireless networks is it allows data to be communicated between different parties and still
maintaintheir movement. The main factor in this type of communication is range of transmitters. That
is the node which is outside the range of one node cannot communicate with the other node which is
outside its range. This difficulty in MANET is resolved by letting ... Show more content on

Adaptive ACKnowledgment (AACK) A)WATCHDOG Watchdog is a technique used for intrusion
detection in Mobile ad hoc networks. There is no any fixed infrastructure for MANETs.Each node in
multihop MANET forwards the packets to the next node and so the battery power, CPU time and
memory are used up. From a pool of nodes in MANET some nodes are unwilling to forward the nodes
to the next node. Such kinds of nodes are called the Selfish Nodes. Selfish nodes are unwilling to
forward the packets in order to save their battery power, memory and CPU time. As, a selfish node will
not cooperate in the transmission of packets which affects the network performance very badly.
Watchdog detects this kind of selfish nodes in the mobile adhoc networks. Collaborative watchdog

Detrimental Effects Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved
We as humans all cope with our memories in varying ways, to varying degrees of success. The
detrimental effects our memories have on us is by no means easy to explain, but is the central issue of
Toni Morrison s novel Beloved. The novel goes into the two main ways we deal with our pasts and
how each affects the person s mental well being. You could be a Paul D, who locks his memories and
pain in his tin tobacco box heart so he almost doesn t even remember them, or a Sethe who deals with
and moves on from her pain, remembering the past but also getting caught in it. She demonstrates that
while it may be initially easier to just forget the past, everyone must come to grips with what they
have seen and what they have done. In Beloved, Morrison uses the characters experiences to explain
the difficulty of remembering the painful past, but also how necessary it is. All the ... Show more

Paul D prefers to forget, choosing to appear strong and unbreakable because that is what a man should
do. Instead of dealing with and coming to terms with the past, he would keep the rest where it
belonged: in that tobacco tin buried in his chest where a red heart used to be. Its lid rusted shut. He
would not pry it loose now in front of this sweet sturdy woman, for if she got a whiff of the contents it
would shame him (Pt 1, Pg73). He can t move on from it because he has not truly tried to deal with his

Summary Of Uncle Calvin s Cafe Essay
Dallas, unlike Seattle, isn t exactly known for its coffee. However, each of these choices seem to stand

basis of style and atmosphere and all around good service; not to mention their great coffee offerings.
All three of these coffeehouses offer a delightful selection of beverages. Two of them are more
conventional coffeehouse choices, while the third offers Asian bubble tea lattes and coffee
drinks. These are my absolute favorite coffeehouses. The next time you re in Dallas, I highly
recommend giving them all a try. First, we have Uncle Calvin s Coffeehouse. Uncle Calvin s has been
providing great coffee and good music for more than 20 years. The weekend live shows are always

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Electricity...
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
The global electricity sector is now facing major challenges i.e. exponentially increasing electricity
demand, fight against climatic changes and increasing trends towards massive urbanization. The first
challenge of ever mounting demands results in continuous depletion of traditional power generation
sources; these are centralized power generation like thermal power plants i.e. combustion (coal, oil,
natural), nuclear power plants etc. and are not suited for environmental and cost issues. The second
challenge relates to the regulation of Greenhouse gas emission. These gases are responsible for
increasing the global temperature. Two third of the global emission are carbon emissions linked to the
energy sector. The third major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reduction in the overall costs.
It becomes easier to find the site for small generators.
Gas turbines, internal combustion engines methods for small generators have been perfected and are
widely practiced and others renewable resources like water, wind solar energies are also finding wider
application in recent years.
Proper allocation and sizing of DG will improve the voltage profile of electrical power system and
reduces losses in the system.
Increased utilization of transmission and distribution network capacity because DG s units are closer
to consumers and this will reduces the stress on transmission system.
Combined heat and power group do not require large and expensive heat networks.
DG s installation time is less and investment risks are also not so high.
If DG s are properly allocated, they will improve system reliability and power quality.

Getting Worse in the Distribution of Income
The studies have shown that 62 percent of the world population has a worsening in the distribution of
income. Income distribution is one of the reason economist believe the Samuelsson model is still an
hypothesis and have not been able to be proven as more of the world engages in trade. With there
being different ways to measure distribution income most of the data collected is confusing to
economist. Data from the World Bank show that 2.8 billion people live below the poverty line.
Changes in income of the poor house can be changed by two variables first economic growth and
distribution of income. According to the author there is growing recognition that distribution is
important to poverty reduction as well as growth. Because of this gap in income distribution most
economist cannot measure the effect globalization has on a country most country or rank twice with
two different numbers making it hard for economist to measure the growth of a country. Samuelsson
says that trade should bring in income helping a country rise above poverty because globalization can
be measured there no way to tell if globalization has a positive effect on country overall growth. If we
take a look at Cross country studies presented by Harrison we see a different take on globalization. It
takes a look at the relationship between poverty, inequality and globalization. Easterly finds that
increasing trade integration is associated with Falling inequalities within developed countries and

No Kill Shelters
According to Sarah Knapton, humans love their dogs in the same way they do their children, and the
feeling is mutual. Everyone loves dogs, dogs can even be a person s best friend. With seeing dogs in a
crowed shelters and dogs getting euthanized is sad. The issue with regular animal shelters is they must
accept, or choose to accept, any and all companion animal s regardless health, temperament, or space
available, with no limitation. As no kill shelters accept animals on a voluntary or space available basis,
a no kill shelter does not euthanize animals who can be adopted or when the shelter is full, reserving
euthanasia for animals who are terminally ill or considered dangerous (Heinz). As proposed by Heinz
I have volunteered at both no kill shelters and traditional shelters. In my experience, the no kill
shelters tend to put down the traditional shelters for euthanizing animals. Likewise, the traditional
shelters have criticized no kill shelters. There are a lot of fights that break out between kill shelters and
no kill shelters. One even went as far as to say that, until all shelters can be no kill shelters, NO ...

Interpersonal Communication Theories
INTRODUCTION The author will analyse scenario 5 (appendix a) as he has no practical experience
of Do Not Resuscitate Orders (DNAR) and believes this is an excellent opportunity to professionally
develop himself in order to improve future patient care. This assignment will reflect, in relation to
paramedic practice, on legal, professional and ethical frameworks whilst also considering
interpersonal communication theories that impact on the delivery of care. Legal frameworks,
including the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) 2005 and Human Rights Act (HRA) 1997, will be
scrutinised alongside professional frameworks offered by the Health and Care Professions Council
(HCPC), such as the Standards of conduct, performance and ethics (2012). The impact of these
frameworks upon duty of care, consent, capacity and best interests will be examined whilst various
interpersonal communication theories will be explored, including transactional analysis and the
influence of verbal and non verbal communication. A conclusion will then be offered with well
supported reasoning for this decision. LEGAL Society uses law as a framework to be abided by with
the distinct aim of keeping the public safe (Gallagher and Hodge, 2012; Griffith and Tengnah, 2010).
To uphold, the Health Professions Order 2001 legislation established the regulator now known as the
HCPC with whom paramedics must register (Health and Care Professions Council, 2012c; Health and

Science fiction is a very big genre. In Terminator 2, the film has many sub genres the movie fall back
on to, because the film is difficult to categorize within the same generic conventions. The sub genres
that are usually emerged are, dystopia, invasion and visitation, space opera, time travel, fantastic
worlds, science out of control, comedy, war, action, and romance. The sub genre dystopia is a society
vision of the world in the future, where it is very bleak and dismal. The world is out of control and has
no law. The protagonists are seen as unwilling anti heroes. Invasion and visitations is a sub genre that
is trying to give answers to satisfy you curiosity on the  what ifÂ...? factor. The product output of
this sub genre often depends upon the current political climate within the country of production. If the
location, America, were feeling susceptible politically there would be a sudden arrival of an action Sci

atmosphere. This means that the films deal with histrionic and real life issues. Time travel is very

Fear is, an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to

Nyctophobia The fear of darkness. I am afraid of death because of two reasons the first reason is
because the feeling is becoming normal and the second one is if I die who will miss me. So many
people that are close either killed or die of natural causes. I know I can t change the process of life

market almost overnight. In 2004, the company s peak period, they had roughly 60,000 employees
working at more than 9,000 stores nationwide. The first Blockbuster opened in October of 1985 by
founder David Cook. Within a short few years, Cook grew the business incredibly and brought it
public on New York Stock Exchange. Before long, Blockbuster stores were popping up in
neighborhoods across the country (Hyatt, 2003). Blockbuster thrived until competition from other
companies offering more convenient means of movie and video game rental began taking over ...

First, in 1999, Blockbuster had a $5 billion IPO, and when Netflix began bursting at the seams, they
had the opportunity to buy Netflix out. Instead, they practically laughed at the then small but growing
company (Siegler, 2011). Another failure for Blockbuster came in the way of management. As the
store essentially became a convenience store of sorts with the implementation of candy and throw
away toys, the digital technology did not help to prompt people to come in for visits, except for the
few hit releases that came a few times each year (Baskin, 2013). Instead, Blockbuster should have had
associates become recommenders and catalog persuading de factos. Another fatal mistake was the
procrastination that Blockbuster deployed in getting into the online DVD rental business. By the time
they decided to get into the online racket in 2004, Netflix was already powerhousing the market and
Redbox had recently launched. Blockbuster was dead in the water, and their utmost tragic mistake was
in the arrogance Blockbuster officials displayed in underestimating the newly founded competition.
They had a six year span to take on the changing market and counter their competition, but decided
instead to sit around and let their company slowly

Reactive Attachment Disorder Of Children
Reactive Attachment Disorder in Children
Introduction to the Diagnosis
According to Bowlby, the founder of attachment theory, a dependable, safe, and caring relationship
with a primary caregiver is vital to an infant s psychological health (Bowlby, 1951). In particular,
children lacking a secure attachment with their primary caregivers are at risk of developing emotional
and behavioral issues (Blakely Dziadosz, 2015). Unfortunately, the human bonds normally formed in
infancy are fractured in neglected and abused children suffering from RAD (Shi, 2014). As a result,
these children become withdrawn, distrustful, and fearful of the world (Shi, 2014).
RAD is located under Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders in the Diagnostic and ... Show more

Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children Youth and Families, 2015).
According to the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS), in 2014, over

Analysis Of The Film Gladiator
There has been numerous of movies and shows based on historical events. Movie makers remake
movies based on historical events to help people understand in a more modern way. Most people tend
to believe that they are based on what truly happened during that time period. Some movies and shows
have half the truth to the real story and have fake facts that have nothing to do with what really
happened just to add more action to it. I picked the movie the Gladiator (2000) and using a primary
source with help me determine if the movie is legit and accurately portrays the real event. The movie
is about a Roman solider who was take in as a slave and trained to be a gladiator. Marcus Aurelius
talks to Maximus about him having control over the empire instead of Marcus own son. Commodus
who was Marcus s son found out that he was not going to be able to take over the empire himself. He
ended up suffocating his father and killing him and lies about it so he can end up being emperor of
Rome. This man [Commodus] was not naturally wicked, but, on the contrary, as guileless as any man
that ever lived. Maximus ends up getting caught because he knows something is up with Marcus dying
because he knows someone was involved. He ends up being a slave to Commodus and is turned in to a
gladiator. Maximus ends up escaping and goes back to his family but Commodus beats him there and
end up slaughtering his family. After seeing his family dead, he passes out and is taken to place in

Point Of View In Story Of An Hour
Viewpoint, is an outlook of a story, poem, or diary entry one chooses to write from. In the short story,
Story of an Hour , the viewpoint is from a third person perspective of a lady, Mrs. Mallard, who has
been struggling with heart troubles for a large percentage of her life. To write in a third person
viewpoint of the main character is a remarkable skill that the author, Kate Chopin, has developed over
her years of writing. In this short story, Chopin certainly explores the mind of Mrs. Mallard, who has
received news on a railroad disaster that has killed her husband Brentley Mallard. This perspective
shows the high intensity of emotion in each character, giving the reader a great understanding of how
Mrs. Mallard is truly misunderstood and holds back from everyone around her including her husband.
Third person, not only showed the reader the emotions stirring within the house, but the reactions of
each and every character and how they dealt with the position of having to inform Mrs. Mallard of the
shocking news of her husband s death without initiating any of her heart problems, as well. Although,
when having her Epiphany of her new life crushed by the news of her husband being completely safe
was what initially caused initiated her heart problems. In the short story The Story of an Hour the
reader is shown a third person point of view, which clearly shows all of the most important aspects of
the story to help one understand and comprehend the shocking twist with ease.

Examples Of Imagery In Macbeth
The use of imagery invokes pictures with the use of all five senses. The readers can understand the
emotions of the characters and feel empathy. Symbols are used to represent ideas, and to connect very
different topics. There are various examples of imagery and symbolism throughout this scene.
Here s the smell of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand. This
quote is an example of literal imagery, because it allows the readers to imagine the smell of blood that
Lady Macbeth is trying to rid her hand of. By saying that no perfume can take the smell away,
Shakespeare gives readers a vivid experience that appeals directly to their sense of smell. This quote is
also a hyperbole and displays figurative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While unconscious she confesses to all of her crimes. The Superego and the Id clash to gain control on
Lady Macbeth. The fight between her morals, values, and ambitions are evident throughout the play,
but her mental instability is clearly shown in this scene.
What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? This quote shows the
struggle between the Id and Superego. Lady Macbeth worries that someone will find about their
crimes, and fears the punishment, but at the same time, she believes that there is no one who can
oppose their power, so she needn t fear. The Superego is her fear of punishment for their wrongdoings
because she knows it s a grave crime. The Id is her pride on being the queen and having no one to
oppose them. She believes that as long as they stay in power, no one can reveal their dark deeds.
What s done cannot be undone. This shows Lady Macbeth s guilt on killing so many people, to
achieve her desires. She understands that she cannot right her mistakes, and her hands will forever be
stained. By thinking this way, she deepens her guilt. Her behavior and personality is severely affected,
as she starts sleepwalking, and becomes depressed and remorseful. This shows how her Ego was

The Fat Man And The Fat Man Literary Analysis
Russian literature is characterised by its unchallengeable presentation of rank and hierarchy,
particularly evident in the influential works of Chekhov and Gogol. In this essay I will discuss how
the comedic writings of The Nose and The Fat Man and The Thin Man use absurd comic elements and
coded meanings such as the presentation of the body to powerfully draw upon anxieties about identity
and belonging in the bureaucratic anarchy of Imperial Russia. The entrenched social structure which
forms the lives of Chekhov s and Gogol s characters often results in a depiction of the body as a home
for deliration while they explore the themes of rank and hierarchy, divisions and oppositions, and
misery and humiliation.
Chekhov explores divisions and oppositions in the hierarchical society of Tsarist Russia. He begins
The Fat Man and The Thin Man by acknowledging the difference in physicality between two old
friends. Their bodies symbolise their position in society the fat man as a privy councillor, his fat
stature indicating an abundance and his indulgence of the finer things which his title prohibits him,
and the thin man as a collegiate assessor, his thin physique representative of the financial strain that
his job imposes on his life and portrays how little he has in comparison to his former friend, The
salary s poor . He develops this physical difference through a description of odour, the fat man
smelling of sherry and perfume which denotes luxury and emphasises his prosperity while the thin
man smelt of ham and coffee grounds, relatively inexpensive and easily accessible food and drink.
Chekhov contrasts the old friends physical appearance to highlight the division between rank and how
this alienates two individuals from one another. This concept is further explored through the change in
speech, behaviour, and demeanour in the characters, particularly the thin man, upon learning of their
respective ranks.

Social Medi A Social Perspective Essay
For the baseline week, time spent on social media is 25 hours and 12 minutes, average 3 hours and 36
minutes per day. I spent more time on social media on weekends compared to weekdays where I
would have university. Antecedents are stimulus that precedes a behavior, events or actions occurring
before behavior that triggers behaviour(Weiten, 2013). This can be divided using biopsychosocial
model. For decreasing social media use, my most relevant antecedents are social or environmental
factors and psychological factors. Social or environmental antecedents include time I usually use
social media. I use social media after waking up and before sleeping. I use social media most in bed.
Another social antecedent is when I am in a social setting where my friends are using social media, I
am more likely to also check my social media. One psychological antecedent is when I am bored, I
will use social media. On weekends, I have more free time and hence use social media more, while I
am least likely to use social media when I am busy. On Thursday, I spent the shortest time as I had to
be in University all day. I will also use social media when I am studying as an avoidance behaviour.
When I reach a topic I feel is challenging, I want to procrastinate and seek instant gratification by
using social media, to avoid doing the challenging work. I will also use social media when I am taking
a break from my studies. Another psychological antecedent is feeling stress and anxiety. I use social

1 Clone Detection
When the software are created, many times the codes are simply copy pasted, with small changes.
This is called cloning. Investigating these copy pasted sections of source codes is called Clone
Detection. It was discovered that about 10 15% of the code in a software system was copy pasted[1]
For refac toring, or at least noting. Clone detection techniques try to nd cloned codes. Techniques
for detecting clones may include programming language speci c parsing to simple text based analysis.
Parsing code technique have an advantage as they are semantically aware which allows them to detect
similarities between the structures of di erent code segments where the dif ference between naming
of variables and parameters is too much. The latter, on the other hand, can be used over a broad
variety of material as they aren t language speci c.
NiCad[2], a clone detector tool, uses hybrid clone detection method, com bining features of both
language sensitive parsing and text based analysis.
It works in three stages Parsing, Normalization and comparison. The rst stage involves parsing the

My Life Changing Learning Experience
School has always come easy for me, and rarely am I ever challenged. I am currently a 4.0 student,
who has received A s their entire life, and I never had to work hard for a good grade. You can imagine
how surprised I was when I began this class because it pushed me like no other class has before. I
learned skills in this class that I will actually use in the future and real life. I have grown as a writer,
and a learner, like I never have before. Foundations of Writing is the hardest class I ve ever taken, but
it is by far my most life changing learning experience.
I had no doubt this class would be more challenging than any other english class I have taken, but the
structure helped tremendously. Before we learned a single thing in this class, we had to write two
essay. One was to see where we stood, in terms of our writing ability, and the other was our first
official paper. After we wrote the second essay, it was time to learn. We spent the next couple week
learning and practicing the skills required to write a good paper. After that we had the opportunity to
go back and fix our essay. This was so helpful for me, and it truly made the class much easier. I saw
how horrible my writing was, and I was able to fix what needed to be changed. If the class structure
was arranged in any other way, I would not have taken as much knowledge from it.
I have never in my life grown so greatly from a class and at the same time learned just as much. I am

Steven Spielberg: Revolutionary and Visionary
Who would have thought that a brilliant career in filmmaking could have originated with a modest jar
of Skippy Peanut Butter smeared on a neighbor s window in a tiny Cincinnati suburb? One might not
think that such an average boyhood prank could evolve a boy into a man who would become the most
financially successful film director in history. Well, that is exactly where Leah Spielberg, Steven

The grin of a clown, a deadly tree outside a window, and being afraid at night, all out of 1982 s
Poltergeist, were all born out of Steven s real childhood phobias (5). Influence for films such as 1993 s
Academy Award winning drama/documentary Schindler s List could be attributed Steven growing up
in a Jewish family. Steven has recalled that during his days in school he felt discriminated from others
for being apart of the only Jewish family within the whole community (Graham 530). During the
Christmas season, he would be embarrassed that his family s house would be the only one without
lights or decorations. When his father offered to place a menorah in the window, Steven responded,
No!...People will think we re Jewish (Graham 528).
Steven has claimed to have learned his numbers as a toddler with the help of a concentration camp
survivor who pointed out the numerals tattooed on his arm. However, it was at high school, where he
was first exposed to anti Semitic behavior. He would suffer verbal and sometimes physical abuse from
other students. Making movies was definitely an escape for Steven who told the New York Post, I

Philippines East Asian Economic Miracle
Philippines East Asian Miracle From the 1960 s through the 1990 s, during what is referred to as the
East Asian economic miracle period, several East Asian economies experienced unexpected high
growth that was sustained for more than 20 years. The Philippines had great potential early on to
become a developed country, due to an abundance of natural resources, a special relationship with the
United States, a high literacy rate, a high domestic savings rate, and a promising manufacturing sector
Leipzeger 448 449. However, despite these advantages, they experienced far slower growth than many
of the other economies in the region. Today, they continue to face numerous obstacles to becoming a
developed state. This paper will examine some of the reasons why the Philippines overall economic
growth during the East Asian economic miracle period, has been slower than that of the other East
Asian developing countries. One of the reasons that the Philippines lagged behind their rapidly
developing neighbors, is that the Philippines have historically had a political system that caters to the
wealthy elite. Second, they have accumulated massive foreign debt and have made it a priority to
repay it at the expense of other growth promoting ventures. Third, the Philippine government has not
been successful in changing economic policies that have inhibited growth. Fourth, investment in
human capital in the Philippines has not been as effective as in other countries in the region. Finally,

The first recommendation is for every member that surrounds that child to be vaccinated. Parents
should make sure that every member receive immunization as a family. There are public clinics that

about these opportunities which leads to the second recommendation of education. Some parents and
community just don t know the risks of not having their child vaccinated. It is the responsibility of the
government to create programs in every community that will educate the matriarchs of that
community because it is more likely that a child will receive vaccination if the mother or a female
member knows the benefits and risks. The final recommendation would be to introduce health lifestyle

Inherent and treated are two terms that are used a lot in the flame resistant world. The term inherently
flame resistant fabric is one that is used for fabrics that do not required the addition of flame retardant
chemicals after the yarns have been spun or the fabric has been woven or knitted. The yarns of these
fabric use only fibres that are naturally flame resistant. The common theme is no flame retardant
chemicals are added to the yarn or fabric.
Unlike inherent fabrics, flame resistant treated fabrics(flame retardant fabrics) have the flame
retardant chemicals added to the fabric after it has been woven or knitted.
Most of the chemicals used for fire retardant finishing of cotton textile are synthetic compounds and
they are available in the market. These chemicals and their application procedures are hazardous,
expensive and non eco friendly [4].
Cellulosic cotton textile catches flame readily that is quite difficult to extinguish. This poses a serious
risk to the health and life of a living and damages potential to textile products. Banana is one of most

Inside Sport By Robert Drane Summary
There was a time when Billie Jean King was always in the news. Robert Drane writes about the
uphills of women s tennis for Inside Sport. Being a respected tennis athlete as a girl in the 1970s was
all but easy, but Billie Jean King demanded the respect she deserved. Drane shows the readers that
King altered the way women s sports were looked at, which led to an even bigger movement in
women s equality. King had always been a huge feminist advocate and Drane writes about her strength
as a player and a person. Using logical facts and King s credibility the article successfully shows how
King changed the course of women s tennis, when it seemed there was no hope.
First, Drane goes on to show the reader that King was highly respected in women s tennis. He states,
After all, she won a total of 12 grand slam singles titles, including six Wimbledons, a total of 39 grand
slam titles altogether, and had celebrated rivalries with Margaret Court, Chris Evert, and Martina
Navratilova. She had so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Former Wimbledon champion, Bobby Riggs decided that women s tennis was not worthy of any fame,
as he claimed he could beat any of their top players, even at age 55. Drane writes that King was
challenged by him in a match, it was a famous match named the battle of the sexes. King knew that
losing this match would set us back 50 years... It would ruin women s tennis and affect all women s
self esteem. After he beat Australia s Margaret Court, he dubbed himself as a hustler . King wanted to
prove herself and make Riggs eat his words as they say. So she did, when she won 6 4, 6 3, 6 3,
against Riggs. The event drew 30,500 people and was aired in 37 countries. The stats do not lie, King
was a force to be reckoned with and she would not back down when it came to saving her good name
and the reputation of women around the

What Is Holden s Opinion Of The Catcher In The Rye
Throughout the novel The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, the main character Holden Calfied
gives us his opinion on many topics. However, he also tells us lies, and he is obviously not thinking
entirely clearly at many points. But I do believe that Holden is right about children are innocent and
pure in three ways; Holden s ideas, my own experience, and the information I gathered. In the novel
The Catcher in the Rye , the main character Holden had a brother called Allie. He was really nice and
intelligent. Everybody liked Allie, but he died at the age of ten. Holden misses him terribly. And he
seems to idealize all the children. He thinks that children are innocent and untainted by adult world
and he is revere of the purity of the youth. I agree with him. I think one ... Show more content on

For example, the reason he left Elkton Hills is because he thinks all the people there are phonies. He
saw Mr.Haas shook hands with funny looking parents and gave them a phony smile. And he walked
away to start talking someone else s parents for maybe a half an hour. He says I can t stand that stuff.
It drives me crazy. It makes me so depressed I go crazy. I hated that goddamn Elkton Hills. (Salinger,
14) Holden thinks that adults are insincere and hypocritical. But kids are not phonies, they are pure
and cute. When Holden sneaks into his home and sees Phoebe sleeping, she had her mouth wide open.
It s funny. You take adults, they look lousy when they are asleep and they have their mouth way open,
but kids don t. Kids look all right. Another reason that I think Holden loves children is because he
wants to protect all the people who are vulnerable. For example, Jane Gallagher was Holden s
neighbor, but Jane had a lousy childhood. Holden got nervous when he knew Strandlater dating Jane.
He said I kept thinking

Along the northern end of Utah s Wasatch Front is a scenic region of land known as Weber County.
This county ranges from the peaks of the Wasatch Mountains into a portion of the Great Salt Lake of
the lower valley. The Weber and Ogden rivers and their tributaries run through its valleys (Weber
County, 2015). Weber County is the second smallest county in land mass and has the fourth largest
population in the state. County population in 2012 was 236,000 (94% urban, 6% rural), comprised of
the communities of Ogden, Farr West, Harrisville, Hooper, Huntsville, Marriot Slaterville, North

Poverty level for Weber County 12.5% (Weber County, Utah, 2015) with Ogden City at 23.4% (Ogden
City, Utah, 2015). According to the Weber Morgan Health Department the top five causes of Mortality
in this county are heart disease, cancer, stroke, accidents and chronic respiratory disease. Due to
Weber counties documented higher than Utah states rates of obesity, drinking and smoking, which are
leading contributors of heart disease, cancer and stroke deaths, Weber County s life expectancy
reflects the national average versus Utah s rate (Weber Morgan Health Annual report, 2010). The
Weber Morgan Health Department annotates that suicide is the leading cause of preventable diseases
in Utah and Weber County with 180.7 per 1,000,000 which is higher than even the state average
(Weber County, Utah, 2015). There are many concerns in Weber County, but the health concerns
which are unfavorably affecting the quality of life in Weber County are obesity, adolescent pregnancy,
sexually transmitted diseases and air quality. In 2009, 64.65% of adults in Weber and Morgan counties
were considered overweight or obese (Weber Morgan Health Department, 2014). The teen pregnancy
rate in downtown Ogden has consistently ranked among the highest in the nation which brings Weber
County s rates up far above Utah s average (Weber Morgan

History Of The Cherokee Indians
`The Cherokee Indians were a very modern group of Native Americans; they had successfully blended
into the American way of life. For example, they made their government like the American way,
translated the Bible, and even used American rules for owning property. Life for the Cherokee nation
seemed to be going well, but in 1832 they would have to fight for their land. Gold was discovered in
Georgia, so Georgians wanted to force the Cherokee Indians out, so they would have more gold. The
Cherokee Indians fought in a nonviolent way; they sued. In Worcester v. Georgia (1832), which
followed a similar case from the ear before, Cherokee, Georgia, the Supreme Court ruled that the
Cherokee nation was a sovereign nation and that the state of Georgia

Personal Experience In My Life
I forgot to make Johnny and Cora, my younger siblings, their lunches again today. It s been very hard
on me, I have so much more responsibility than I have ever had before. With my older sister, Betsy,
sick in bed with the Spanish Flu, my mama working in a factory, and my father away fighting in the
Great War, I have to do everything I can for my family. I cook, clean, get the kids ready, help with
homework, care for Betsy, and I don t mind it all that much. The only thing I miss most about my old
life is getting to go to school and have opportunities to learn. All I can do now is sit at home and read
in the little free time I have. Today, I have to go to the pharmacist and refill Betsy s medicine. I walk
out of the door and into the busy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Papa s coming home! I yell as I thrust the newspaper into her cold hands. Oh Rose, this is such good
news. Papa s coming home! she says weakly, but with a huge grin on her face. We sit together and talk
about what it ll be like with papa back at home. I read through the rest of the newspaper with her
looking over my shoulder. Betsy, look at this! There were 53,402 casualties in the war, that s a great
deal of men. I say with a frown. We seem to both know the possibility that papa didn t make it, but we
keep quiet. I hear the door swing open and run downstairs. Cora! Johnny! The Great War s over! I yell
as they put down their bags. Does that mean papa s coming home? Johnny cried out with tears of joy.
Yes it does Johnny. We ll all be together soon. I say as I pull them into a hug. Once they go to bed, I sit
by the fire and read through the newspaper some more. I see an article about Women s Suffrage and
wonder why my mama hadn t talked about this at all. It talks about women fighting for equal job
opportunities and even the right to vote. As I am caught up in reading, I hear a knock at the door. I
look through the window and see that it is my mother standing in the cold. Right when I open the
door, I realize that something is wrong. Mama? What s wrong? I say, dreading what her answer will
be. It s papa. He s gone. I got a letter at work today, she says, her voice shaky and soft. All I can do is
stand here, paralyzed with grief. My father,

Conviction Is An American Drama Television
Conviction is an American drama television show that centers around a new department of the New
York County District Attorney s Office called the Conviction Integrity Unit or the CIU. The CIU was
created to reinvestigate any cases that could have been wrongfully convicted due to any external
factors. The team has four members, an Assistant District Attorney (Sam Spencer), a former New York
Police Department Detective who became District Attorney Investigator (Maxine Bohen), a Paralegal
(Tess Larson) and a Forensic Technician (Frankie Cruz). They work under a Defense Attorney who
was intimidated into the job as a result of a possible arrest because of drug possession.
Every week, the team leader must choose a case that has been closed. They have five days to figure
out what details in the case which could have by any chance caused a false conviction of an innocent
person. They must go through past interviews, witnesses, photos of the crime scenes and any other
information that could be in the case files.
The episode that I chose was, A Simple Man, it is about how a man, Leo Scarlata, was convicted of
arson and murder. It was proven that he had a mental deficiency as the results of an IQ, Intelligence
Quotient, test his score was 70. The average score for an IQ test was 100, anything below that score
means that individual is cognitively impaired. He should not have been charged for the crime or give
the punishment that he received, but the score was not low enough.

No Formal Diagnostic Criteria For Postpartum Disorders And...
Introduction
Almost all countries have laws against killing of infants, but most give special consideration if the
child is less than 1 year old, or if the woman can be shown to be depressed or mentally ill. Many
infant deaths are never investigated and never charged because the cause of death is unclear SIDs,
accident, etc. If a doctor signs off as natural causes, it is unlikely that it will go any further.
U.S. law does not allow for reduced charges in the first year and a woman who kills her child is
generally charged with homicide. If convicted she faces a long prison sentence or even the death
penalty. Although she can plead not guilty by reason of insanity, there are no formal diagnostic criteria
for postpartum disorders and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fortunately, in each of these cases, the baby was rescued and survived without apparent serious injury,
but given the opportunity to hand over a baby to a fire station, church or hospital without any
questions asked or penalty imposed, one cannot help but wonder what social forces drive these young
women to harm or abandon their babies?
This paper will discuss the reasons why a young woman might feel unable to keep her baby/child. We
will discuss the legal ramifications of these choices and what other countries do. Finally we will make
policy recommendations regarding changes to US law.
Why a Woman Would Kill Her Child
There are many reasons why a woman would give up a child including her health, the child s health,
parental pressure, economics, and social, cultural and religious taboos. While in the U.S., having a
baby while unmarried has become relatively common, and many families accept an out of wedlock
baby readily, many others do not. There are young people who are too afraid to admit the situation to
their parents and others who are simply not in a position, either financially or mentally, to raise a
child.
Neonaticide almost always occurs on the first day after birth (Friedman, Kavney and Reskick, 2012).
It is generally linked with a hidden pregnancy and possibly denial of both pregnancy and child. In
these cases, the mother rarely gets prenatal care and may deliver in secret. According to

  • 3. Motorcycle Helmet History It s not set in stone, but it is thought that the earliest motorcycle was built in 1885 by Gottlieb Daimler. A simple device, not intended for high speed, there was no thought for head protection. Indian followed suit in 1902, followed closely by Harley Davidson in 1903, with motorcycles that went faster than the predecessor. These two builders battled it out for fastest bikes in the interim of 1931 and 1953, and as their bikes got faster, so did the fatality rate from motorcycles crashes climb. The history of the modern motorcycle helmet began in 1953 when Professor C.F. Critique of Stanley Milgram’s “Behavioral Study of Obedience” A Critique of Stanley Milgram s Behavioral Study of Obedience Stanley MIlgram is a Yale University social psychologist who wrote Behavioral Study of Obedience , an article which granted him many awards and is now considered a landmark. In this piece, he evaluates the extent to which a participant is willing to conform to an authority figure who commands him to execute acts that conflict with his moral beliefs. Before Milgram s findings, the fact that people were inclined to obey to authority figures was already realized. He just confirmed this belief. Milgram followed effective steps by using precise procedures. He made sure that the experiment reflected features of an actual situation in which a person would obey to an authority figure: offering compensation (monetary reward in this experiment), being under pressure (Prods 1 to 4 in this case), and mentioning that the person who obeys can withdraw. These features can also be seen in a situation where a soldier is commanded to fire, for instance. A soldier will get a monetary compensation, is under pressure to obey because he chose to be part of the military, and he knows that he can resign at any time. Milgram created an experiment so precise and detailed that more than enough evidence was demonstrated. In this experiment, subjects are explained that this is a learning experiment to ... study the effects of punishment on memory (4). Yet, the real intention here is to measure the participants compliance towards the experimenter. This controversy is unethical as subjects are volunteering for a cause that does not exist. Impact Of China s Economic Impact On Australian Property The introduction The research shows that China has become enormously important to Australia s economy as its largest export destination, a rapid source of growth in inbound international tourism and migration, plus a strong source of foreign investment. (Leigh W, 2015) Due to report of Australia s government records, since 30 June 2015, 28.2% of Australia s estimated resident population was born overseas. And the number of people who comes from china is the third largest group of Australia s estimated resident population group (excluding people born in Australia). (Migration, 2015) as we know, ever since 1980s, China s students flock into Australia to study. After they finished their study, quite a fair amount of them decide to get Australia s PR or citizenship and stay in Australia. If people decide to stay, they need a place to live. So these students certainly brought huge impact to Australia s real estate industry. The impact of China s imigrat on Australian property has been both indirect through the impact on the broader economy and direct through capital flows and Chinese developers building Australian businesses. The detrimental effects our memories have on us is by no means easy to explain, but is the central issue of Toni Morrison s novel Beloved. The novel goes into the two main ways we deal with our pasts and how each affects the person s mental well being. You could be a Paul D, who locks his memories and pain in his tin tobacco box heart so he almost doesn t even remember them, or a Sethe who deals with and moves on from her pain, remembering the past but also getting caught in it. She demonstrates that while it may be initially easier to just forget the past, everyone must come to grips with what they have seen and what they have done. Income distribution is one of the reason economist believe the Samuelsson model is still an hypothesis and have not been able to be proven as more of the world engages in trade. With there being different ways to measure distribution income most of the data collected is confusing to economist. Data from the World Bank show that 2.8 billion people live below the poverty line. Changes in income of the poor house can be changed by two variables first economic growth and distribution of income. According to the author there is growing recognition that distribution is important to poverty reduction as well as growth. Because of this gap in income distribution most economist cannot measure the effect globalization has on a country most country or rank twice with two different numbers making it hard for economist to measure the growth of a country. Samuelsson says that trade should bring in income helping a country rise above poverty because globalization can be measured there no way to tell if globalization has a positive effect on country overall growth. The issue with regular animal shelters is they must accept, or choose to accept, any and all companion animal s regardless health, temperament, or space available, with no limitation. As proposed by Heinz I have volunteered at both no kill shelters and traditional shelters. In my experience, the no kill shelters tend to put down the traditional shelters for euthanizing animals. First, in 1999, Blockbuster had a $5 billion IPO, and when Netflix began bursting at the seams, they had the opportunity to buy Netflix out. Instead, they practically laughed at the then small but growing company (Siegler, 2011). Another failure for Blockbuster came in the way of management. As the store essentially became a convenience store of sorts with the implementation of candy and throw away toys, the digital technology did not help to prompt people to come in for visits, except for the few hit releases that came a few times each year (Baskin, 2013). Instead, Blockbuster should have had associates become recommenders and catalog persuading de factos. Another fatal mistake was the procrastination that Blockbuster deployed in getting into the online DVD rental business. By the time they decided to get into the online racket in 2004, Netflix was already powerhousing the market and Redbox had recently launched. • 28. The Fat Man And The Fat Man Literary Analysis Russian literature is characterised by its unchallengeable presentation of rank and hierarchy, particularly evident in the influential works of Chekhov and Gogol. In this essay I will discuss how the comedic writings of The Nose and The Fat Man and The Thin Man use absurd comic elements and coded meanings such as the presentation of the body to powerfully draw upon anxieties about identity and belonging in the bureaucratic anarchy of Imperial Russia. The entrenched social structure which forms the lives of Chekhov s and Gogol s characters often results in a depiction of the body as a home for deliration while they explore the themes of rank and hierarchy, divisions and oppositions, and misery and humiliation. Chekhov explores divisions and oppositions in the hierarchical society of Tsarist Russia. He begins The Fat Man and The Thin Man by acknowledging the difference in physicality between two old friends. Their bodies symbolise their position in society the fat man as a privy councillor, his fat stature indicating an abundance and his indulgence of the finer things which his title prohibits him, and the thin man as a collegiate assessor, his thin physique representative of the financial strain that his job imposes on his life and portrays how little he has in comparison to his former friend, The salary s poor . He develops this physical difference through a description of odour, the fat man smelling of sherry and perfume which denotes luxury and emphasises his prosperity while the thin man smelt of ham and coffee grounds, relatively inexpensive and easily accessible food and drink. Chekhov contrasts the old friends physical appearance to highlight the division between rank and how this alienates two individuals from one another. This concept is further explored through the change in speech, behaviour, and demeanour in the characters, particularly the thin man, upon learning of their respective ranks. ... The title of the song tells a story on its own, the room the band first started in had no windows nor any clocks, so when they wanted to know the time they would peak their head outside the door and guess the time, around 9 in the afternoon, creating the name of the first song of their album Pretty. Odd. Through the examination of Panic! At The Disco s son, Nine In The Afternoon Characteristics of a martyr archetype becomes evident along with a deeper background of the bands antiquity. • 40. Inside Sport By Robert Drane Summary There was a time when Billie Jean King was always in the news. Robert Drane writes about the uphills of women s tennis for Inside Sport. Being a respected tennis athlete as a girl in the 1970s was all but easy, but Billie Jean King demanded the respect she deserved. Drane shows the readers that King altered the way women s sports were looked at, which led to an even bigger movement in women s equality. King had always been a huge feminist advocate and Drane writes about her strength as a player and a person. Using logical facts and King s credibility the article successfully shows how King changed the course of women s tennis, when it seemed there was no hope. First, Drane goes on to show the reader that King was highly respected in women s tennis. He states, After all, she won a total of 12 grand slam singles titles, including six Wimbledons, a total of 39 grand slam titles altogether, and had celebrated rivalries with Margaret Court, Chris Evert, and Martina Navratilova. It would ruin women s tennis and affect all women s self esteem. After he beat Australia s Margaret Court, he dubbed himself as a hustler . King wanted to prove herself and make Riggs eat his words as they say. So she did, when she won 6 4, 6 3, 6 3, against Riggs. The event drew 30,500 people and was aired in 37 countries. • 41. What Is Holden s Opinion Of The Catcher In The Rye Throughout the novel The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, the main character Holden Calfied gives us his opinion on many topics. However, he also tells us lies, and he is obviously not thinking entirely clearly at many points. But I do believe that Holden is right about children are innocent and pure in three ways; Holden s ideas, my own experience, and the information I gathered. In the novel The Catcher in the Rye , the main character Holden had a brother called Allie. He was really nice and intelligent. Everybody liked Allie, but he died at the age of ten. Holden misses him terribly. And he seems to idealize all the children. He thinks that children are innocent and untainted by adult world and he is revere of the purity of the youth. I agree with him. He saw Mr.Haas shook hands with funny looking parents and gave them a phony smile. And he walked away to start talking someone else s parents for maybe a half an hour. He says I can t stand that stuff. It drives me crazy. It makes me so depressed I go crazy. I hated that goddamn Elkton Hills. (Salinger, 14) Holden thinks that adults are insincere and hypocritical. But kids are not phonies, they are pure and cute. When Holden sneaks into his home and sees Phoebe sleeping, she had her mouth wide open. It s funny. You take adults, they look lousy when they are asleep and they have their mouth way open, but kids don t. Kids look all right. Another reason that I think Holden loves children is because he wants to protect all the people who are vulnerable. For example, Jane Gallagher was Holden s neighbor, but Jane had a lousy childhood. Holden got nervous when he knew Strandlater dating Jane. He said I kept thinking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. History Of The Cherokee Indians `The Cherokee Indians were a very modern group of Native Americans; they had successfully blended into the American way of life. For example, they made their government like the American way, translated the Bible, and even used American rules for owning property. Life for the Cherokee nation seemed to be going well, but in 1832 they would have to fight for their land. Gold was discovered in Georgia, so Georgians wanted to force the Cherokee Indians out, so they would have more gold. The Cherokee Indians fought in a nonviolent way; they sued. In Worcester v. It s been very hard on me, I have so much more responsibility than I have ever had before. With my older sister, Betsy, sick in bed with the Spanish Flu, my mama working in a factory, and my father away fighting in the Great War, I have to do everything I can for my family. I cook, clean, get the kids ready, help with homework, care for Betsy, and I don t mind it all that much. The only thing I miss most about my old life is getting to go to school and have opportunities to learn. All I can do now is sit at home and read in the little free time I have. Yes it does Johnny. We ll all be together soon. I say as I pull them into a hug. Once they go to bed, I sit by the fire and read through the newspaper some more. • 45. Conviction Is An American Drama Television Conviction is an American drama television show that centers around a new department of the New York County District Attorney s Office called the Conviction Integrity Unit or the CIU. The CIU was created to reinvestigate any cases that could have been wrongfully convicted due to any external factors. The team has four members, an Assistant District Attorney (Sam Spencer), a former New York Police Department Detective who became District Attorney Investigator (Maxine Bohen), a Paralegal (Tess Larson) and a Forensic Technician (Frankie Cruz). They work under a Defense Attorney who was intimidated into the job as a result of a possible arrest because of drug possession. Every week, the team leader must choose a case that has been closed. They have five days to figure out what details in the case which could have by any chance caused a false conviction of an innocent person. They must go through past interviews, witnesses, photos of the crime scenes and any other information that could be in the case files. The episode that I chose was, A Simple Man, it is about how a man, Leo Scarlata, was convicted of arson and murder. It was proven that he had a mental deficiency as the results of an IQ, Intelligence Quotient, test his score was 70. The average score for an IQ test was 100, anything below that score means that individual is cognitively impaired. He should not have been charged for the crime or give the punishment that he received, but the score was not low enough. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. No Formal Diagnostic Criteria For Postpartum Disorders And... Introduction Almost all countries have laws against killing of infants, but most give special consideration if the child is less than 1 year old, or if the woman can be shown to be depressed or mentally ill. Many infant deaths are never investigated and never charged because the cause of death is unclear SIDs, accident, etc. If a doctor signs off as natural causes, it is unlikely that it will go any further. U.S. law does not allow for reduced charges in the first year and a woman who kills her child is generally charged with homicide. If convicted she faces a long prison sentence or even the death penalty. Although she can plead not guilty by reason of insanity, there are no formal diagnostic criteria for postpartum disorders and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fortunately, in each of these cases, the baby was rescued and survived without apparent serious injury, but given the opportunity to hand over a baby to a fire station, church or hospital without any questions asked or penalty imposed, one cannot help but wonder what social forces drive these young women to harm or abandon their babies? This paper will discuss the reasons why a young woman might feel unable to keep her baby/child. We will discuss the legal ramifications of these choices and what other countries do. Finally we will make policy recommendations regarding changes to US law. Why a Woman Would Kill Her Child There are many reasons why a woman would give up a child including her health, the child s health, parental pressure, economics, and social, cultural and religious taboos. While in the U.S., having a baby while unmarried has become relatively common, and many families accept an out of wedlock baby readily, many others do not. There are young people who are too afraid to admit the situation to their parents and others who are simply not in a position, either financially or mentally, to raise a child. Neonaticide almost always occurs on the first day after birth (Friedman, Kavney and Reskick, 2012). It is generally linked with a hidden pregnancy and possibly denial of both pregnancy and child. In these cases, the mother rarely gets prenatal care and may deliver in secret. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
