The Cauchy Stress Principle
The Cauchy stress principle is one of the main hypotheses in mechanics of solids. The study of linear
and nonlinear wave processes is very important. Elastic waves are high performance instrument to
research strained and deformed state of solids an also to study their structure and properties. Elastic
waves can propagate deeply inside the material without disturbing the material state. The elasto
dynamic problem is a challenging predicament to the modern material scientists. In the last twenty
years the concept of structural deformation levels obtained the recognition in physics of solids and
especially in the science of materials [Panin (1995)]. According to which the concept, each point of a
solid body is a complex system of interacting structures of lower level. In the present work
elastodynamic problem of in elastic solids and the finite deformation in such materials are studied
analytically and investigated the process of wave propagation in the solid.
The elastic solid is assumed as a heterogeneous medium which is homogenized and then applied the
principle of anisotropic expansion to suppress the effects of anisotropy. Due to homogenization the
nonlinear effects are resulted, these non linear effects should be suppressed in the material to clearly
understand the wave propagation in an elastic solid. To investigate the wave propagation in such a
material a thorough study of the internal force and its distribution is to be expected, the action of all

The Pros And Cons Of Immigration In America
There always has to be a restriction on immigration as the U.S can t handle millions of immigrants
that are either crime ridden, diseased, or just poverty stricken people but are sure to let in immigrants
who are seeking opportunity. During the 18 19 centuries, immigrants from around the world wanted to
come to America as it was the land of opportunity. Presidents like Woodrow Wilson set the bar for
immigration as he was a supporter of restriction but not selection. The U.S does not need these type of
people in the country as they give no benefit to the U.S. Of course not every immigrant is crime ridden
or diseased but that s why the U.S made special tests which can sift out the unacceptable immigrants
who will have a negative effect on the U.S and bring in the acceptable immigrants who could enhance
the U.S. As Woodrow Wilson once said, we have generously kept our doors open to all who were not
unfitted by reason of disease or incapacity for self support or such personal records and antecedents as
were likely to make them a menace to our peace and order or to the wholesome and essential
relationships of life. (Wilson Doc B). As many others wanted to pass a bill for immigrants to take a
test of their education but President Wilson rejected the bill as it was unfair to the immigrants as some
mainly come to the U.S for education. There still must be tests that not select certain immigrants but
restrict immigrants who are unfit to come into this country. There s a difference

Karen Sternheimer Media Violence Does Not Cause Youth...
Over the last decade, media has taken over the majority of the world through twenty four hour
coverage, various television shows and movies, and endless advertisements. There is no way to escape
the media, especially the younger generations. Because of the constant coverage, some violence may
be covered on the news, in video games, or entertainment. Some believe that the violence brainwashes
younger generations and causes them to mirror that cruelty. In Media Violence Does Not Cause Youth
Violence, Karen Sternheimer argues the opposite. Through appeals and strong premises, Sternheimer
wrote a sound and valid argument that only has a few minor faults.
To structure and maintain the momentum of her piece, Sternheimer utilized residue reasoning ... Show

In her introduction, she ensure her readers that she is not biased by revealing that she has been accused
of only challenging the media violence connection because [she] is secretly funded by the
entertainment industry (Sternheimer, 2010) but she assures that [she] is not (Sternheimer, 2010). It is
obvious she is trying to build her ethos by saying this but with her background as a lecturer in the
Department of Sociology, she does not need to address this. Beginning with this puts a damper on her
ethos until she established them again with the presented assumptions and rebuttals. Another problem
found was one assumption made: we seldom hear public outcry about the declining morals of adults
(Sternheimer, 2010). Not everyone has the same morals, so to say that adult morals are declining is not
sound; someone, who has different morals, may not see it as that much of a decrease. Also, there are
many counterarguments that the other side could come back with to prove that there is public outcry
about the violence committed by adults. Overall, though, Sternheimer s argument is well thought out
and skillfully

The History and Production of Yummy Jelly Beans Essay
Jelly Beans
Around the world small, sweet, sugar filled candies bring enjoyment to those who consume them.
What are these tiny, pleasure inducing sweets? The answer is jelly beans. Jelly beans are produced in
numerous varieties and flavors; therefore, their story is just as diverse and colorful as they are.
The History of Jelly Beans Initially, the first jelly bean was created in the early 1800s by an unknown
American candy maker. However, one can trace back the beginnings of their production process to
17th century France. The French made Jordan Almonds, sugar glazed almonds, by a process called
panning, which is now used to make the hard sugar coating on jelly beans. Panning is the rocking of a
desired item in a container filled with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then the trays are coated with a light layer of cornstarch, which is then left to dry overnight. The next
day, the cornstarch layer is removed, the middles are put through a moisture steam bath, and are
finally sprayed with sugar and left to sit for another twenty four to forty eight hours. Next, is the
panning process where the centers of the bean are set in a rotating drum, called an engrossing pan.
While the center is rotating, sugar is added gradually to build the hard outer shell. During this time,
colors and flavors are also added to get the unique look and taste of the bean. Once finished,
confectioner s glaze is added to give the beans a shiny, smooth, and silky appearance. After the beans
have been polished (a process that can take two to four days) they are ready to be shipped to
companies and stores. Overall, the whole process can take between seven to twenty one days
depending on the manufacturer. Consumers can find jelly beans in most candy shops, mini marts, and
grocery stores. If interested in specifically buying Jelly Belly brand, consumers can go to the Jelly
Belly website to make their specialized orders.
Flavors To begin with, there were only a few flavors of jelly beans; however, today there are many
brands all with their own unique renditions on numerous flavors. The Jelly Belly Company is known
for its wide and unusual range of flavors. Their most popular has changed throughout the years, but

New York City in Summer
Standing only at five feet high in New York City, the beautiful New York City in the summer time
rises with an amazing sunrise. The rays of the sun mix with three different shades of bright and dark
colors like red, orange, and yellow. The dark blue sky is still filled with lingering clouds that flee from
the sun as it makes its assent. The skyline of New York City casts a gorgeous reflection onto the East
River. New York is one of the best known cities in United States with a total area is 468.9 square

Starry Night shows the meaning of the alluring skyline at night in the city where it has the bright lights
from each of the windows of the buildings and how the sky is yet very dark but still see the shade of
blue in the sky. Also in the painting it shows a little wind which in New York sort of has at night time
a little breeze that can give you slight goose bumps in your arms. The other painting by Vincent Van

bloom up and the bright sun rises up into the city. That feeling when you get up from bed, in the

uplifting. In the center of my living room, I would have this crystal chandelier that is very appealing

Executive Order 906 Summary
III. FACTS:
During World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt signed executive order 9066 that ordered those
with Foreign Enemy Ancestry to be moved to internment camps. Congressional statues provided the
military the ability to remove Japanese citizens from any area that would be crucial to national
defense. The petitioner was Fred Korematsu and the respondent is the United States. The issue at hand
was Korematsu lived in San Leandro California who was ordered to move to a Japanese internment
camp. After refusing to leave San Leandro Korematsu was arrested and convicted. Korematsu claimed
the executive order was against the fifth amendment. After bringing the case to the court of appeals he

COURT DECISION
The Supreme Court decided the case on December 18, 1944. The executive order held and supported
the idea of moving Japanese Americans to internment camps during World War II. The Justices who
supported the United States were Reed, Black, Stone, Douglas, Rutledge, and Frankfurter. The
Justices opposed were Murphy, Jackson, and Roberts. This was a makeup of six votes for the United
States and only three votes against. The Supreme Court agreed with the government to protect the
United states during the war which overruled Korematsu individual rights. VI. OPINION AND
REASONING OF THE COURT:
While the Supreme Court reviewed the case they relied heavily on a case prior, Hirabayashi v. United
States. After the president passed two executive orders giving the secretary of war the ability to
generate military areas. The other order included the ability to remove, supervise, or maintain outside
military areas.
Justice Black s weighed in his opinion which stated:
It should be noted, to begin with, that all legal restrictions which curtail the civil rights of a single
racial group are immediately suspect. That is not to say that all such restrictions are unconstitutional.
It is to say that courts must subject them to the most rigid scrutiny. Pressing public necessity may

Persuasive Speech About Drug Use
People are beginning to wake up and realize that drug prohibition is an utter failure a waste of time
and resources, at the very least. Yet, not everyone is quite convinced, thanks to decades of
propoganda, hear say, and misinformation. From an outsider s perspective, it s quite easy to empathize
with people that genuinely think drugs are a gateway to darkness and despair, with the statistics of
violence and criminal activity, potential dangers that come with drug use, and social stigmas, that run
amok in society. However, as we continue to evolve and advance our technological capabilities,
expand our scientific knowledge, and grow closer towards collectively understanding the strange
phenomena we call life , we also learn more about the past. We have more to work with when
formulating hypotheses and theories about our species origins, what our ancestors were like, how far
we ve evolved, etc. Perhaps one of the more shocking bits of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The earliest, most credible account of drug use by humans dates back between 50,000 60,000 B.C., in
which there is a notion that Neanderthals of the time used the psychoactive stimulant, Ephedra, as
evidenced by a burial site in Iraq, where pollen remains of the herbal drug were found. There is
contradictory evidence which states the remains of the ephedra may have come from rodents in the
area, who are known to burrow and store seeds and flowers in their burrows, making it impossible to
come to a concrete conclusion on whether these people did use the drug. Nevertheless, prospectors
believe that if these people actually took use of the drug, that it may have been for medicinal, spiritual,
and/or entheogenic ritualistic purposes, as the effects of the ephedra have euphoric, amphetaminic, and

Intelligence Test and Gifted Requirements Essay
Intelligence Test and Gifted Requirements
The Gifted program exists to provide more academic opportunities for those who qualify as gifted.
Gifted means performing or demonstrating the potential for performing at significantly higher levels
of accomplishment in one or more academic fields due to intellectual ability, when compared to others
of similar age, experience, and environment (Quoted in Gifted ). In order to make it into the program
the student must show higher intellectual ability than the average student at his or her age, but what
determines that factor? The student must take a multidimensional test and score in the 98th percentile.
However, the most weighted part of the test remains an average IQ test. ... Show more content on

She states, In my 24 years as a gifted facilitator, there have been a handful, (3 5) students whose IQ
tests did not accurately reflect their intelligence. She also informed that if a student is close to making
the cut, they are given a second test in a year or two (Sebelius 1). Intelligence tests should not remain
the primary qualification to gain admittance in the gifted program because it allows minorities and the
economically disadvantaged to remain underrepresented in the program. The minorities and the
economically disadvantaged tend to score lower than the average gifted student; as a result, they fail to
gain admittance when they have actually proven qualified. The tests also effect how they are feeling
(sebuleus). If under privileged students feel negatively about their situation it may affect the score of
their test. Under their circumstances, they are not presented with the same opportunities as other gifted
students due to financial or environmental problems. These problems can alter their psychological
state ultimately undermining their score. However, they do better on the test overall, as opposed to just
the IQ segment of the test, but the IQ test still remains more heavily weighted than other means of
testing, when those other means of testing play a more important role than given credit

William Wright s Statue Of Friendship
When walking through the quad here at ISU, William Wright s bronze sculpture Hand of Friendship
(1967) is one of many that will never go unnoticed. The position and realization of an actual hand in
which it depicts resembles great artistic ability and effort. My initial impression was positive because
it helped me realize one of many things that this university stands for friendship . There are plenty of
students who may sometimes feel left out or friendless on a daily basis and this statue speaks great
value. To me, it gives a sense on welcoming and acceptance for all considering that thousands pass
through the quad every day. It also shows the values of this particular class in 1967 half of a century
ago which still stand to this day.
As mentioned previously, the structure and design of this sculpture exposes the time and effort put into
the creation. The color which is a very dull green reminds me of the Statue of Liberty, a famous work
of art that we ve talked a great deal on this semester. Originally, the Statue of Liberty was brown

consequently through the processes of aging and weathering. I don t ... Show more content on

Juxtaposition In Cold Blood
In Cold Blood and the Death Penalty Is the killing of certain people morally acceptable? In his novel,
In Cold Blood, Capote makes an argument about the death penalty. In Cold Blood, written by Truman
Capote, is a seemingly objective account of the Clutter murders of Holcomb Kansas. Capote details
both the lives of the Clutters and the lives of the two men involved in their murder. In this novel
Capote argues against the death penalty using devices such as simile, metaphor, juxtaposition, and. In
the first passage of the book, Capote writes about the incident and the resulting deaths. He writes At
the time not a soul in sleeping Holcomb heard them four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human
lives (Capote 5). This is an example of juxtaposition because it shows the contrast of the sleeping
town and the tragedy that was occurring at the same time. Capote uses this juxtaposition, not only to
detail the nature of the crime, but also to make a subtle argument about the case. After finding out that
the Clutters have been murdered, the community is shocked and horrified. They cannot sleep at night

Heavy Influence On Mexican Culture
Something I learned
Being born into a small town in Texas where a heavy influence on Mexican culture applies to almost
everyone. It makes me realized that food really plays a major part in identifying myself as a Mexican.
Because the food, makes our culture unique. In addition, learning to make my very first ever batch of
tamales made me realized that it was a memorable experience.
It was early in the morning, and I had just woken up because I hear voices and objects being moved
around in my grandma s kitchen. I got up from the bed and made my way down the hallway straight to
the kitchen. Once I entered the kitchen I saw all of my aunts with my grandma kneading the corn
flour. I just stood there by the wooden door and watched as my aunts would laugh and talk to each
other while the kneaded the corn flour. It was a beautiful sight to see because of the sunlight that was
coming in from the window was hitting their faces and making it look like they were glowing. I
started to look around the medium size room and saw the big dining table in the middle of the kitchen
leaving little space to walk around properly.
I had walked into the kitchen, and all my aunts turned around and saw me standing there. My aunt
Diana told me in Spanish Come over and sit down and help us make tamales for Christmas dinner. It s
about time you start learning our Mexican traditions. So I went and washed my hand before being able
to sit down next to her and she told me to help knead the dough with

Cause And Effect On Air Pollution
Diesel trucks, old fire extinguishers and that wood in your fireplace, all have one thing in common;
they re hurting our planet and our bodies. Researchers studied for decades now the effect that air
pollution has on our bodies and our atmosphere. The emissions from a diesel engine can result in a
direct attack against our respiratory systems, this same attack of the atmosphere can come from
Chlorofluorocarbons that are emitted from old refrigerants. Due to the fact that air pollution has
greatly increased over the last 150 years, understanding the chemistry behind it has not only become a
large topic of choice by researchers but has also been governed by officials. Diesel emissions are the
greatest output of atmospheric nanoparticles such as cerium oxide and nitrogen oxides which are the
cause for more than two thirds of all particulate matter that will emit from U.S. transportation
alone.1Since diesel emissions output these semi volatile particles at such a high rate, they have started
to create a ground level ozone which can irritate the respiratory system and cause cardiovascular
illnesses. While diesel fuel is combusting, any excess turns into soot or particulate matter. This is
composed of hundreds of elements which include particulates of all sizes, including ultra fine
particulates that are small enough to pass through the cells of human lungs. When these particulates
get brought into the atmosphere they will vaporize and oxidize which forms a greater mass of
secondary organic aerosol. These ultra fine particles are such an increasing danger to humans because
they make up 80 90% of all diesel emissions. They are causing tens of thousands of deaths worldwide
but particularly in Europe, where there are higher populations in smaller areas.2These deaths are
mostly coming from the nitric oxide being emitted by the uncombusted diesel. (See Figure 1.) An
estimated 100,000 people will continue to die a year from diesel pollutants if governments don t start
to take action. The strange part about nitric oxide is that the same chemicals that come out of diesel
emissions are currently being used as a steroid for bodybuilders. The use of this steroid and the
additive of nitric oxide in the atmosphere can cause

Benefits Of Going To College While On Active Duty
Researchers from Student Veterans of America Service Organization say that from 2002 through 2013
only 51.7% of veterans who attended college after the military finished with a degree. This percentage
is lower than non veterans. Why is this statistic important? If a service member waits until they get out
of the military to start college they lose the safety net of the military college office and a steady
paycheck. This could be a major factor why the graduation rate is so low. According to the Pat Tillman
Foundation, Got Your Six, and Operation College Promise the average veteran who attempts to go
back to school after getting out of the military carries with them 28 transfer credits, which
automatically makes them sophomores. This makes it very surprising that the graduation rate is still so
low. What makes going to college while on active duty easier? While on active duty the military
member has many resources to help them complete a degree. With that being said there are difficulties
associated with active duty service members going to college can also be overwhelming, unlike the
civilian sector usually factors such as tuition or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

temporary assigned duties, and permanent change of station orders he/she will have a much easier
time finishing college out in the civilian sector. It is my opinion however that it would be easier to
start and finish a degree while continuing to be on active duty than to do it in the civilian world. The
safety net associated with being on active duty and a student is the main reason why I believe

The Principles Of Systems Analysis
Unit 11 Systems analysis Design 29/09/2014 The principles of systems analysis Iain s Co Iain s Co.
are a large building company that currently employ a team of IT technicians to help them manage their
IT infrastructure and their IT users. They recently have taken over a similar small company that
employs technical staff in the same way. Iain s Co. feel that they need a centralised IT support system
that will monitor, track and report problems that have been identified by their IT users across both
sites. Iain s Co. have hired me as their Systems Analyst to provide them better solutions to manage
their IT Supports system. What is systems analysis and how are systems analysed? Systems analysis is
when business hire individuals to analyse their systems to determine what issues are present with their
current systems and provide a solution that will fix the issues. In order to discover the issues with the
system, the analyst must be able to interact with the business to identify how their current systems
work. This means that a systems analyst must have complete access to their databases as well as being
allowed to interact with employees. The main reason why the systems analyst would need to interact
with the employees is so they are able to find the strengths and weaknesses of the system. This is
useful to them as they will be able to identify what areas of the system need to be changed and what
areas should be kept the same. My Recommendations for Iain s Co In

Apostle Peter And The Last Supper
In Gabriel Sabloff s Apostle Peter and The Last Supper, Sobloff portrays a faithful and powerful
biblical story of dedication, forgiveness, prayer and a message that anything is possible if we have
God in our hearts. This film, stars Robert Loggia, Bruce Marchiano, and Laurence Fuller. This story is
set in Rome in 670 A.D, when Christians were being persecuted for their faith. The Apostle Peter
relives the time he spent with Jesus, from the inspirational Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane.
This movie is not only about Jesus, but it also describes the personalities of the apostles themselves.
In the movie, Apostle Peter has been imprisoned for his believes, he is sentenced to die by crucifixion.
The emperor has announced that followers of Christ should be hunted and persecuted for their beliefs.
While in jail Peter tells the story of Jesus to a young guard named Martinian (Laurence Fuller) who is
more interested in learning about Jesus than he lets on. Though Martinian risks everything by
fraternizing with the Christian prisoner he pressures Peter to tell him of Jesus, His Message, and his
journey with Jesus.
One of the differences between the movie and the Bible is the fact that only the 12 disciples were
present in Jesus Sermon on the Mount when the Bible describes the scene as being crowds gathering,
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to

Prenatal Screening And Prenatal Development
Throughout all of mankind s history all living beings have shared a common trait since their
conception, prenatal development. Prenatal development can easily be categorized as a fascinating
period of great anatomical and physiological progress. Yet, as time progresses and the wonders of
medical technology advance at a limitless pace, such a time has recently been viewed as a period of
constant and profound examinations for unborn infants. The term, prenatal examinations, can be
divided into the three categories of prenatal screenings, genetic screenings, and diagnostic screenings.
Prenatal screenings are primarily involved with the detections of the possible abnormalities and
conditions that may be displayed by the infants. However, it has been vastly emphasized to be a non
definitive diagnosis for most pregnancies. The normal and recommended blood tests as well as
ultrasounds throughout pregnancies classify as a realm of prenatal screenings. Genetic screenings,
considered by many to be a complex version of prenatal screenings, examine the alterations of the
chromosomes, genes, and proteins of the fetus. Currently, genetic screenings are sub divided into three
main categories, molecular genetic screenings, chromosomal genetic screenings, and biochemical
genetic screenings. Molecular screenings examine the genes of a fetus in an attempt to recognize any
mutations in the DNA of the fetus and to detect the likelihood of the development of a genetic
disorder. Chromosomal

A Home Energy Audit
What To Expect When You Get A Home Energy Audit
If your power bills are higher than your friends or neighbors, yet you still feel too hot or too cold in
your home, then your house probably isn t very energy efficient. If you live in an older home, it could
have single pane windows and inadequate insulation. Before you spend a lot of money on upgrades, it
s best to have an energy audit so you know exactly what needs to be done. Here are some of the things
that are examined during the audit.
Power Bills And Lifestyle
The first thing the auditor will do is examine your lifestyle and look at things like how many people
live in your home, the thermostat and hot water heater settings, how often you use the washer and
dishwasher, and whether you have a pool. Next, he or she examines your power bill to see how much
energy you consume. You ll want to gather bills over several months so the auditor can see your
energy consumption during various seasons of the year.
Physical Examination
Next, the auditor makes a complete physical examination of your home. On the exterior he or she
looks for gaps and cracks that allow air to leak into or out of your home. The auditor checks the roof
and type of windows you have. The inside is examined thoroughly for amount and type of insulation,
age of appliances, state of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helps you spend money where it will do the most good. You may need to add insulation to the
attic and between the walls, upgrade your windows, or seal cracks around the exterior. You ll also
receive recommendations for saving energy such as the best settings for your HVAC and water heater.
Although you ll have to pay for the home energy audit, the expense is well worth it since it will save
on your monthly power bill, and more importantly, you and your family will be much more

Concurrent with his singing career, Michael also trademarked some his unique dance moves
accompanied by some of his songs like Billie Jeans and Ghosts . Though I am not a dancer, I am
absolutely awed by his dance moves such as the moonwalk, circle slide, the pelvic thrust and the spin,
all of which serves as a trademark icon to him. No doubt, many dancers all over the world had been
greatly inspired by Michael as with the many singers and musicians.
E.g. Moonwalk, Circle slide, Pelvic Thrust, The Spin
3. As a Humanitarian
No doubt as a well accomplished entertainer, however, Michael s effort as a humanitarian seems to be
relatively unknown to the public at large. His contribution and efforts in supporting good causes
earned him Guisness world record for the most charity supported by a pop singer.
Some of these efforts include
Setting up the Heal the World Foundation which aims at providing medicine for children and fighting
world hunger, drug and alcohol abuse, and child abuse
Michael supported the efforts of the NAACP, to fight prejudice against black artists.
Raised $3.3 million dollars during Michael Jackson and Friends concerts in Korea and Germany for

Brief Summary
Case Name: Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Petitioner v. Abercrombie Fitch Stores,
Inc., No. 14 86 (2015)
Factual History: Ms. Samantha Elauf is a woman who is a practicing Muslim applied for a job at
Abercrombie Fitch Co., which is a national chain of clothing stores. Elauf was interviewed by the
store s assistant manager Heather Cooke, and her interview so went well that it appeared to Elauf that
she was going to get the job. Heather Cooke, the store manager who interviewed Samantha liked her
and recommended that she be hired. Cooke gave Elauf a rating, which qualified her to be hired,
however, she was concerned that her headscarf would conflict with Abercrombie s employee dress
policy. The headscarf that she wore according to her religious obligations conflicted with the store s
look policy . Cooke turned to Randall Johnson, the district manager, and informed Johnson that she
believed Elauf wore her headscarf because of her faith. She wanted to determine whether or not the
headscarf was in violation of this policy. Randall Johnson informed Cooke that Elauf s wearing
headscarf would violate the look policy , and therefore that Elauf should not be hired. As a result,
Elauf didn t get hired by Abercrombie Fitch Co.
Procedural History: The EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) sued Abercrombie on
the behalf of Elauf, claiming that Abercrombie s

How Does Andrew Lloyd Webber Use The Mask In The Phantom...
In the online dictionary, masks are described as being a covering for all or part of the face, worn to
conceal one s identity . Andrew Lloyd Webber utilizes masks in The Phantom of the Opera, in such a
way that really captivates the viewers and helps to highlight and hide certain aspects. Not only does he
use the mask to shield the Phantom s deformation, he also shows what kind of person the Phantom is
with and without the mask, including his behaviour, and actions towards others.
Webber uses masks in many different ways in the play, The Phantom of the Opera. One of the ways
that he uses them is with the characters. Every character in the play wears some kind of mask.

Beginning with vulnerability, it is obvious that the Phantom is much more defenseless, and much less
powerful without the mask on. When Christine removes the mask without his permission, he responds
very angrily, saying, Damn you! You little prying Pandora! You little demon...Curse you! You little
lying Delilah! You little viper! In doing so, he demonstrates a much more aggressive and contentious
persona towards her. In the midst of cursing and yelling at her, Erik threw her down, forcefully, after
she removed his mask. It is evident that from the above actions displayed by the Phantom, he doesn t
approbate the removal of the mask without his permission. Another gauge of his behaviour because of
the mask, is hidden deep within his self image. Here, we are able to find out what he actually thinks of
himself. Erik portrays himself as ...a loathsome gargoyle, who burns in hell but secretly yearns for
heaven... this repulsive carcass, who seems a beast, but secretly dreams of beauty . Similarly, he also
doesn t want anyone to know what he really looks like. After Christine removed the mask, the
Phantom said, Is that what you wanted to see?...Now you cannot ever be free! This goes to show that
Erik doesn t have very a ample self esteem, and does not wish for anyone to witness his true
appearance.

Stand By Me Film Techniques
Stand By Me, directed by Rob Reiner, is a film set in the 1950 s, in a small town called Castle Rock. It
is an adventure story about the friendship of four boys who are on a journey to see death. Along the
journey, the boys, Chris, Gordy, Vern and Teddy encounter many problems and challenges which in
turn illustrates the individual personality of each of the boys to the audience. The overall film displays
Rob Reiner s view of how growing up can sometimes be a difficult translation period. Through a
variety of scenes, Reiner has conveyed the idea that the future of young boys will be influenced by
both the positive and negative aspects of their lives. This is clearly evident through the boy s attitude
towards smoking and the types of clothing they each wear. Throughout the film, the boys are
continually imitating Ace and his gang to gain respect amongst the older boys.

director, Rob Reiner has used a close up camera angle to show the expression on Gordy and Chris s
face. The excitement on their faces gives the idea that they have never seen a gun before, and hence
are growing up due to this new experience. As a result of these new experiences, the boys are
becoming more aware and vulnerable to the would around them. This is also evident when the boys

Essays, Not Rants! 203: Window Dressing Taxis are in a rush. That s a known fact (that I thought as I

The arcade style driving game has you speeding around a time, picking up customers and dropping
them off as quick as you can. It s fun, and an excellent time and/or quarter sink. But how vital is the
taxi part of Crazy Taxi? Sure, speeding around an ersatz San Francisco and dodging trucks is great,
but does it need that taxi ness that surrounding narrative to work? Strip away all the window dressing
and the game s mechanics are quite simple: the player drives around an area getting objectives which,
when completed well, nets the player more points and time. Could be in space, could be blocks

The views of Food production companies and customers vary greatly. Food production companies and
farmers believe the advantages of GMO s currently outweigh the disadvantages and will continue to
do so into the future. Farmers and Food production companies believe genetically modified crops do
not need pesticides to achieve stronger protection and resistance against various kinds of pests, insects
and bacteria that may destroy it, (REFERENCE).
Customers believe that GM foods can be used to change the properties of the crop through the
addition of nutrients, making them taste better, or through the reduction of growing time (Chaury,
2004). The food and agricultural organization of the United Nations believes that some GM foods
have been modified to be more nutritious, through minerals or vitamin content (Duvauchelle, 2014).
This is highly valued in developing countries where malnutrition rates are extremely high.

Velocity of water
Flow of water is very important within the ecosystem as it has an effect on other abiotic factors such

It is shown that with the ocean, one of the biggest factors in order to promote the diversity within it is
how fast the water flows, it is proven that with the increase in flow, along with it comes the number of
invertebrate species that live under the rocks within that water. 3
Nature of the Caseless Caddis.
Caseless Caddis larvae are normally found in habitats such as lakes, streams and ponds. They have
certain adaptations which allow them to tolerate low oxygen concentrations. Each of the Caseless
Caddis is adapted to specific conditions such as water temperatures and sunlight exposure.
The Caseless Caddis s are relatives of the moths and it is the larval stage of the Caseless caddis the
aquatic stage of its life. A quality of the fly larva is that they make silk threads which help them adapt
to the conditions that they live in.
The Caseless caddis have adapted so that they create a silk tube in which they are then able to live
within the fast flowing water. Many of the caseless caddis is associated with a particular speed of flow,
mainly fast. The caseless caddis have adapted in a way that they have their abdomens placed safely
within the silk tubing they have. As a result of this sclerotisation may have been made in order to
protect them from small stones and other material hitting them as their habitat is within fast

Even though the Iroquois and other Native American tribes had forged alliances with rivaling
European powers they were unable to maintain any leverage economically and militarily during the

The Jew Hunter is very polite yet vicious and frightening and displays this again through a silent
brutal strangling of one of the spies. These scenes depict Jewish and supporters revolt against Hitler s

Inglourious Basterds argues that the American lens of Jews in World War II is inaccurate by
contrasting the traditional American lens with a strong Jewish lens through parallel plots in the story.
In Inglourious Basterds, we mentioned the opening scene which starts with the Jew Hunter in
complete control and using fear tactics to make a French farmer give up the Jews he is harboring. This
scene shows the Jew Hunter in full control of the situation with all power resting solely in his hands.
The Jewish family being harbored is completely helpless as they hide under the floorboards. The Jews
in this scene are in line with what the American perspective of Jews in World War II, helpless and at

Womenā€™s Inequality in the 20th Century Essay
Throughout the twentieth century, American women fought for the right to vote, the right to make
choices regarding their own bodies, and the right to be their own people. The disparities between men
and women were often overlooked or blindly accepted, but as Gloria Steinem said, history is herstory
too. After nearly 200 years of struggling, women made up only 10% of Congress, received wages less
than 75% of their male counter parts, and are stigmatized based on their class and race. By the end of
the century, female citizens were still treated unfairly in every aspect of American society. Women did

The English word for being devoted to your country is patriotic, which literally translates from Latin
to loyal to a country ruled by men. In America during the 20th century patriotic was still the accurate
word, as men overwhelmingly ruled the United States. Because of this fact, women in the 20th century
did not reach political equality with men. In terms of sexuality, women in the 20th century were not
considered equal to men because they were overwhelmingly abashed and judged due to the personal
decisions they made regarding sex. While men s sexual conquests were disregarded or even praised,
women were often shamed or called derogatory names for choosing to have sex. That the same
decisions made by two different genders could have such opposite results proves that there wasn t
sexual equality in America in the 20th century. Sexual assault is another place where 14.78% of
women in America are victims of rape at some point in their lifetimes as of 2000. Yet the 60% of rape
cases are never reported, and the vast majority of rapists investigated are never charged. That such a
horrendous crime can affect so many women and yet have such a small penalty is appalling and a

God isn t important. According to what we re taught, We are all that matters. We re all good people but
we ll be failures if we don t make more money than our parents did.
The song deals next with freedom when it says, You can take my life, my land my liberty/Lock me up,
I ll still be free in lines 10 11. Every day in many parts of the world, governments imprison, beat,
torture, and even kill Christians for their faith. To the songwriter, even if he experiences such
atrocities, he is still free. Although these horrors are uncommon here in the United States, I believe
this statement still applies to our country. Freedoms are still taken away from people because of their
beliefs in God, only on a smaller scale. For example, despite the fact that it is illegal, many schools
prohibit Christian clubs from using all the resources that are available to other clubs in the school...all
in the name of the separation of church and state allegedly found in the Constitution.
The song deals lastly with laws when it says, You can take God out of the law/You can make me listen
to ya ll in lines 13 14. This statement shows the songwriter s belief that God has been removed from
laws of our country. As with the other excerpts from the

Peace Synthesis Essay
Authors such as John Lederach, Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that one of the worst ways to go
about building peace in a post conflict country is to approach it with an overly westernized strategy.
Doing so leads to a failure to create public support for the new government and an ultimate failure to
create lasting peace. Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that a far more effective strategy is one of
integration. They believe that it is irresponsible to eliminate traditional structures of governance if
they have been successful in the past at promoting peace. The goal of integration is to take traditional
local sources of governance and use them to establish a better refined national government. This leads
to a wider adoption rate of post conflict government and prevents power vacuums from occurring.
(Chopra Jarat, 2004)
Having both the Puntland and South Central Somalia adopt the Beel System is an exhalent form of
integration. The Beel System already has both western institutions and local cultural roots. The Beel
System creates three governmental branches, an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial
branch, which all operate independently each other. (Jimcaale, Cabdirahman, 2002)This system of
separation of powers mimics western governments in an effort to prevent corruption and ... Show

Software Design Of A Computer Based System
A key requirement of the software design of a computer based system is to transform basic
requirements into an architecture that describes the software s top level structure and identifies its
components. Accomplishment of this requirement is through architectural design, providing a
blueprint for developing the framework of the software (Mattsson, Lundell, Lings, Fitzgerald, 2009).
The establishment of the framework involves examining the software requirements document and
designing a model for providing necessary implementation details. The details specify components of
the system along with all inputs, outputs, functions, and the interactions between the components. This
paper includes a description of the architectural design of a computer based system that has transform
characteristics, and includes a data flow diagram with process narrative, and evaluation of the
architectural design. Further, an assessment of the structuring requirements associated with software
architecture is included.
Architectural Design Structure An architectural design performs key functions, and is of crucial
importance in software engineering during the phase of software development where the essential
requirements of reliability, cost, and performance are determined. Architectural design provides the
definition of the abstraction level at which the software design specifies both the functional and
performance behaviors of the system, and the guidelines for enhancing the system by

Gangs and Injunctions
Gangs and Injunctions Criminal activities and gangs have mostly always been an on going problem in
the United States. Gangs and gang members are frequently involved with a variety of different crimes.
The 2008 National Youth Gang Survey reported that there are approximately 774,000 active gang
members in the United States (Egley, Howell, Moore, 2010). The 2008 National Youth Gang Survey
also states that there are about 27,900 active gangs in the United States (Egley et al., 2010). The active
gangs in California have caused a major impact on the state in many ways. According to the California
Department of Justice, approximately 300,000 gang members are living in California (Crawford,
2009). California also attributes more than 25 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The police force may be looked at negatively for setting such heavy restrictions on regular
neighborhoods because there are injunctions set upon the area. The people from the neighborhoods
would be the individuals that believe gang injunctions should not be enforced. One of the many
problems involved with gang injunctions is that there is not a clear definition of what a gang is.
Numerous definitions of gangs have come about through the decades. For example, the 2006 National
Youth Gang Survey defines a gang as a group of youths in your jurisdiction that you are willing to
classify as a gang (Egley, O Donnell, 2008). This definition of a gang is very vague because any group
of youths can be seen as a gang. This definition does not always work. For example, a group of people
who share a common interest like reading books or collecting baseball cards can be labeled as a gang.
The National Gang Center and federal law define a gang as any ongoing group, club, organization, or
association of five or more person: A) that has as one of its primary purposes the commission of one
or more of the criminal offenses; B) the members of which engage, or have engaged within the past
five years, in a continuing series of offenses; and C) the activities of which affect interstate or foreign
commerce (Brief review of Federal and State definitions, 2009, p.1). Another problem closely
associated with gang injunctions are the violations of constitutional rights.

How Did The Pope Lose His Power
Power is said to be the authority to act. Throughout the years of growth and strong leadership, the
Roman Church began to suffer its grip on the faithfulness of the European people. This downfall was
inevitable due to the strict policies of the Popes that had tremendous power. During the centuries, the
papacy suffered a major decline in authority due to several events and movements. These include, the
incident between King Philip IV and Boniface III, the Great Schism and post Black Death. In the end,
I strongly agree that the Pope s power had declined in relation to all the events and movements that
have happened in the past to affect it severely. During the 10th century, there have been conflict
between the Pope and the king for powers. The most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to all this chaos, Philip accused the Pope of committing crimes against man, nature, and
God. Pope Boniface didn t like the accusation, so he retreated to Avignon. The Pope s movements of
going back to Avignon were a weakness shown because the people of Rome felt very fearful and
anxious with the idea of the Pope overseeing the citizens from a different city. In the perspective of the
people, they didn t believe in the Pope to make wise and crucial decisions for Rome. Things came to
an end when King Philip IV made a powerful order of denouncing the Pope. Later, King Philip
gathered an important council meeting of the Church and talked about the allegations of Pope
Boniface, which includes simony, bribery, and more. To counterattack King Philip, Boniface came up
with a papal bull to banish the king, but it wasn t enough. The last attack happens when Philip
demands an arrest on Boniface, but failed. Finally, Pope Boniface VIII died as he was viewed as a
crude leader by the people of Rome. In fact, many will say that he abused his powers when he moved
in at the Avignon. I think this was one major event that

The Reform And Governmental Statistics On The United States
Since the passage of the ACA, a total of 14.1 million adults have acquired health insurance coverage,
however, a distinction must be made; the ACA was created to expand health insurance, not to better
health care (Office of The Assistant Secretary For Planning and Evaluation, 2015). Texas being the
number one state in all of the U.S. with more than 5 million Texans (19% of the population) uninsured
in 2014 (this was a decrease of 700,000 individuals in 2013) would be expected to hold great support
in order to lower the high rates of the uninsured (Walters, 2015). In order to understand the impact that
the ACA has had on the U.S., but especially in Texas, it is important to look at what state officials say
concerning the reform and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medicaid is a system of inflexible mandates, one size fits all requirements, and wasteful, bureaucratic
inefficiencies. Expanding it as the PPACA provides would only exacerbate the failure of the current
system, and would threaten even Texas with financial ruin (Perry, 2012).
Perry s strong opposition to the ACA makes it questionable whether the reform is for the benefit of the
people or if it benefits the government monetarily. The current Governor of Texas, Greg Abbot, stated
his thoughts of the ACA by stating,
The Supreme Court abandoned the Constitution to resuscitate a failing healthcare law. Today s action
underscores why it is now more important than ever to ensure we elect a President who will repeal
Obamacare and enact real healthcare reforms (Office of The Governor Greg Abbott, 2015). Senator
Ted Cruz also expresses his thoughts on Obamacare as being a manifest disaster (Jones, 2015). On a
live interview on the Road To The White House on C Span Senator Cruz states,
I think health care reform ought to expand competition, it ought to empower patients and it ought to
disempower government bureaucrats from getting in between us and our doctors. I think the best way
to do that, 3 concrete ideas. Our number one, allowing people to purchase health insurance across state
lines... number two as doctor Ben Carson talked about very effectively, expanding health savings

The Light Of The Labyrinth By Wendy Dunn
The term rhetoric is defined as a skill of speaking or writing in order to persuade or impact someone.
Not everyone is required to have the same views on a particular topic or subject in order to be a good
rhetorician. I believe that Anne Boleyn is a prime example of someone who has a wide set of views
about herself. Throughout this course we have been given different texts and films about Anne
Boleyn, and they have all shown Anne from a different perspective. These different outlooks of Anne
allow readers to form their own opinions and decide for themselves who Anne Boleyn really was. We
ve been able to see her character portrayed in the documentary Henry and Anne: The Lovers Who
Changed History, the book The Creation of Anne Boleyn, and ... Show more content on

This young audience would then be exposed to a positive version of Anne, which would in turn
influence how they would see her. I believe this novel greatly impacted what would go into my
interpretation of Anne Boleyn, because I do see Anne in a respectful way. In my opinion this book is a
great example of rhetoric. As defined before rhetoric can be a piece of writing that is used to persuade
someone to think a certain way. Since the book is fiction, most would probably assume that it is just
for entertainment. However, if you step back and look at the big picture, you can definitely see a hint
of persuasion in it. I feel that Dunn was able to influence her readers to think of Anne the way she
does, and sways them to look at Anne in a not so typical way. This novel also shows great support for
feminism. Feminism is a belief to advocate women s rights and interests. Both of the main female
characters, Anne and Kate, show an immense amount of strong traits and interests. They are both
mature, honest women who stand up for what they believe is right.
Another work that has centered around Anne Boleyn is the documentary by Suzannah Lipscomb
called Henry and Anne: The lovers Who Changed History. The goal of this film is to try to reveal the
truth about Henry and Anne s love story while also providing a different idea of how the two were

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO) defines Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) as a management concept whereby companies integrate social and
environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders . The term
is explained through a Triple Bottom Line Approach as being the way through which a company
achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives ( Triple Bottom Line ) while at
the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders (Elkington, 1997). This
approach assumes a very significant light in today s dynamic world where every aspect of life is inter
connected in a very mysterious fabric, where the alteration of one can affect the others in ways beyond
comprehension. Corporate Social Responsibility, both as a term and concept, started becoming
popular in the 1960s, when industrialization which sprouted in the Industrial Revolution was fixating
its roots all across the world. Industrialization can be defined as the period of social and economic
change that transforms a human group from an agrarian society into an industrial one . Just like the
correlation and dependence of the various aspects of life with each other, it is seen that CSR and
Industrialization shared their space of mutual effects as well.
This paper aims to present a historic view on CSR, based on the trends and influencing factors, related
to the booming of industrialization.

  • 2. The Cauchy Stress Principle The Cauchy stress principle is one of the main hypotheses in mechanics of solids. The study of linear and nonlinear wave processes is very important. Elastic waves are high performance instrument to research strained and deformed state of solids an also to study their structure and properties. Elastic waves can propagate deeply inside the material without disturbing the material state. The elasto dynamic problem is a challenging predicament to the modern material scientists. In the last twenty years the concept of structural deformation levels obtained the recognition in physics of solids and especially in the science of materials [Panin (1995)]. According to which the concept, each point of a solid body is a complex system of interacting structures of lower level. In the present work elastodynamic problem of in elastic solids and the finite deformation in such materials are studied analytically and investigated the process of wave propagation in the solid. The elastic solid is assumed as a heterogeneous medium which is homogenized and then applied the principle of anisotropic expansion to suppress the effects of anisotropy. Due to homogenization the nonlinear effects are resulted, these non linear effects should be suppressed in the material to clearly understand the wave propagation in an elastic solid. To investigate the wave propagation in such a material a thorough study of the internal force and its distribution is to be expected, the action of all such internal ... • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Immigration In America There always has to be a restriction on immigration as the U.S can t handle millions of immigrants that are either crime ridden, diseased, or just poverty stricken people but are sure to let in immigrants who are seeking opportunity. During the 18 19 centuries, immigrants from around the world wanted to come to America as it was the land of opportunity. Presidents like Woodrow Wilson set the bar for immigration as he was a supporter of restriction but not selection. The U.S does not need these type of people in the country as they give no benefit to the U.S. Of course not every immigrant is crime ridden or diseased but that s why the U.S made special tests which can sift out the unacceptable immigrants who will have a negative effect on the U.S and bring in the acceptable immigrants who could enhance the U.S. As Woodrow Wilson once said, we have generously kept our doors open to all who were not unfitted by reason of disease or incapacity for self support or such personal records and antecedents as were likely to make them a menace to our peace and order or to the wholesome and essential relationships of life. (Wilson Doc B). As many others wanted to pass a bill for immigrants to take a test of their education but President Wilson rejected the bill as it was unfair to the immigrants as some mainly come to the U.S for education. There still must be tests that not select certain immigrants but restrict immigrants who are unfit to come into this country. There s a difference ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Karen Sternheimer Media Violence Does Not Cause Youth... Over the last decade, media has taken over the majority of the world through twenty four hour coverage, various television shows and movies, and endless advertisements. There is no way to escape the media, especially the younger generations. Because of the constant coverage, some violence may be covered on the news, in video games, or entertainment. Some believe that the violence brainwashes younger generations and causes them to mirror that cruelty. In Media Violence Does Not Cause Youth Violence, Karen Sternheimer argues the opposite. Through appeals and strong premises, Sternheimer wrote a sound and valid argument that only has a few minor faults. To structure and maintain the momentum of her piece, Sternheimer utilized residue reasoning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In her introduction, she ensure her readers that she is not biased by revealing that she has been accused of only challenging the media violence connection because [she] is secretly funded by the entertainment industry (Sternheimer, 2010) but she assures that [she] is not (Sternheimer, 2010). It is obvious she is trying to build her ethos by saying this but with her background as a lecturer in the Department of Sociology, she does not need to address this. Beginning with this puts a damper on her ethos until she established them again with the presented assumptions and rebuttals. Another problem found was one assumption made: we seldom hear public outcry about the declining morals of adults (Sternheimer, 2010). Not everyone has the same morals, so to say that adult morals are declining is not sound; someone, who has different morals, may not see it as that much of a decrease. Also, there are many counterarguments that the other side could come back with to prove that there is public outcry about the violence committed by adults. Overall, though, Sternheimer s argument is well thought out and skillfully ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then the trays are coated with a light layer of cornstarch, which is then left to dry overnight. The next day, the cornstarch layer is removed, the middles are put through a moisture steam bath, and are finally sprayed with sugar and left to sit for another twenty four to forty eight hours. Next, is the panning process where the centers of the bean are set in a rotating drum, called an engrossing pan. While the center is rotating, sugar is added gradually to build the hard outer shell. During this time, colors and flavors are also added to get the unique look and taste of the bean. Once finished, confectioner s glaze is added to give the beans a shiny, smooth, and silky appearance. After the beans have been polished (a process that can take two to four days) they are ready to be shipped to companies and stores. Overall, the whole process can take between seven to twenty one days depending on the manufacturer. Consumers can find jelly beans in most candy shops, mini marts, and grocery stores. If interested in specifically buying Jelly Belly brand, consumers can go to the Jelly Belly website to make their specialized orders. The Justices who supported the United States were Reed, Black, Stone, Douglas, Rutledge, and Frankfurter. The Justices opposed were Murphy, Jackson, and Roberts. This was a makeup of six votes for the United States and only three votes against. The Supreme Court agreed with the government to protect the United states during the war which overruled Korematsu individual rights. VI. The other order included the ability to remove, supervise, or maintain outside military areas. Justice Black s weighed in his opinion which stated: It should be noted, to begin with, that all legal restrictions which curtail the civil rights of a single racial group are immediately suspect. • 10. Persuasive Speech About Drug Use People are beginning to wake up and realize that drug prohibition is an utter failure a waste of time and resources, at the very least. Yet, not everyone is quite convinced, thanks to decades of propoganda, hear say, and misinformation. From an outsider s perspective, it s quite easy to empathize with people that genuinely think drugs are a gateway to darkness and despair, with the statistics of violence and criminal activity, potential dangers that come with drug use, and social stigmas, that run amok in society. However, as we continue to evolve and advance our technological capabilities, expand our scientific knowledge, and grow closer towards collectively understanding the strange phenomena we call life , we also learn more about the past. We have more to work with when formulating hypotheses and theories about our species origins, what our ancestors were like, how far we ve evolved, etc. Perhaps one of the more shocking bits of ... There is contradictory evidence which states the remains of the ephedra may have come from rodents in the area, who are known to burrow and store seeds and flowers in their burrows, making it impossible to come to a concrete conclusion on whether these people did use the drug. Nevertheless, prospectors believe that if these people actually took use of the drug, that it may have been for medicinal, spiritual, and/or entheogenic ritualistic purposes, as the effects of the ephedra have euphoric, amphetaminic, and sympathomimetic (mimics the effects of neurotransmitter substances, such as adrenaline and dopemine) ... Gifted means performing or demonstrating the potential for performing at significantly higher levels of accomplishment in one or more academic fields due to intellectual ability, when compared to others of similar age, experience, and environment (Quoted in Gifted ). In order to make it into the program the student must show higher intellectual ability than the average student at his or her age, but what determines that factor? The student must take a multidimensional test and score in the 98th percentile. However, the most weighted part of the test remains an average IQ test. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She states, In my 24 years as a gifted facilitator, there have been a handful, (3 5) students whose IQ tests did not accurately reflect their intelligence. She also informed that if a student is close to making the cut, they are given a second test in a year or two (Sebelius 1). Intelligence tests should not remain the primary qualification to gain admittance in the gifted program because it allows minorities and the economically disadvantaged to remain underrepresented in the program. The minorities and the economically disadvantaged tend to score lower than the average gifted student; as a result, they fail to gain admittance when they have actually proven qualified. The tests also effect how they are feeling (sebuleus). If under privileged students feel negatively about their situation it may affect the score of their test. Under their circumstances, they are not presented with the same opportunities as other gifted students due to financial or environmental problems. These problems can alter their psychological state ultimately undermining their score. However, they do better on the test overall, as opposed to just the IQ segment of the test, but the IQ test still remains more heavily weighted than other means of testing, when those other means of testing play a more important role than given credit ... • 12. William Wright s Statue Of Friendship When walking through the quad here at ISU, William Wright s bronze sculpture Hand of Friendship (1967) is one of many that will never go unnoticed. The position and realization of an actual hand in which it depicts resembles great artistic ability and effort. My initial impression was positive because it helped me realize one of many things that this university stands for friendship . There are plenty of students who may sometimes feel left out or friendless on a daily basis and this statue speaks great value. To me, it gives a sense on welcoming and acceptance for all considering that thousands pass through the quad every day. In his novel, In Cold Blood, Capote makes an argument about the death penalty. In Cold Blood, written by Truman Capote, is a seemingly objective account of the Clutter murders of Holcomb Kansas. Capote details both the lives of the Clutters and the lives of the two men involved in their murder. In this novel Capote argues against the death penalty using devices such as simile, metaphor, juxtaposition, and. In the first passage of the book, Capote writes about the incident and the resulting deaths. He writes At the time not a soul in sleeping Holcomb heard them four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives (Capote 5). This is an example of juxtaposition because it shows the contrast of the sleeping town and the tragedy that was occurring at the same time. Capote uses this juxtaposition, not only to detail the nature of the crime, but also to make a subtle argument about the case. It makes me realized that food really plays a major part in identifying myself as a Mexican. Because the food, makes our culture unique. In addition, learning to make my very first ever batch of tamales made me realized that it was a memorable experience. It was early in the morning, and I had just woken up because I hear voices and objects being moved around in my grandma s kitchen. I got up from the bed and made my way down the hallway straight to the kitchen. Once I entered the kitchen I saw all of my aunts with my grandma kneading the corn flour. I just stood there by the wooden door and watched as my aunts would laugh and talk to each other while the kneaded the corn flour. It was a beautiful sight to see because of the sunlight that was coming in from the window was hitting their faces and making it look like they were glowing. I started to look around the medium size room and saw the big dining table in the middle of the kitchen leaving little space to walk around properly. I had walked into the kitchen, and all my aunts turned around and saw me standing there. My aunt Diana told me in Spanish Come over and sit down and help us make tamales for Christmas dinner. • 15. Cause And Effect On Air Pollution Diesel trucks, old fire extinguishers and that wood in your fireplace, all have one thing in common; they re hurting our planet and our bodies. Researchers studied for decades now the effect that air pollution has on our bodies and our atmosphere. The emissions from a diesel engine can result in a direct attack against our respiratory systems, this same attack of the atmosphere can come from Chlorofluorocarbons that are emitted from old refrigerants. Due to the fact that air pollution has greatly increased over the last 150 years, understanding the chemistry behind it has not only become a large topic of choice by researchers but has also been governed by officials. Diesel emissions are the greatest output of atmospheric nanoparticles such as cerium oxide and nitrogen oxides which are the cause for more than two thirds of all particulate matter that will emit from U.S. transportation alone.1Since diesel emissions output these semi volatile particles at such a high rate, they have started to create a ground level ozone which can irritate the respiratory system and cause cardiovascular illnesses. While diesel fuel is combusting, any excess turns into soot or particulate matter. This is composed of hundreds of elements which include particulates of all sizes, including ultra fine particulates that are small enough to pass through the cells of human lungs. When these particulates get brought into the atmosphere they will vaporize and oxidize which forms a greater mass of secondary organic aerosol. These ultra fine particles are such an increasing danger to humans because they make up 80 90% of all diesel emissions. They are causing tens of thousands of deaths worldwide but particularly in Europe, where there are higher populations in smaller areas.2These deaths are mostly coming from the nitric oxide being emitted by the uncombusted diesel. (See Figure 1.) An estimated 100,000 people will continue to die a year from diesel pollutants if governments don t start to take action. The strange part about nitric oxide is that the same chemicals that come out of diesel emissions are currently being used as a steroid for bodybuilders. The use of this steroid and the additive of nitric oxide in the atmosphere can cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Benefits Of Going To College While On Active Duty Researchers from Student Veterans of America Service Organization say that from 2002 through 2013 only 51.7% of veterans who attended college after the military finished with a degree. This percentage is lower than non veterans. Why is this statistic important? If a service member waits until they get out of the military to start college they lose the safety net of the military college office and a steady paycheck. This could be a major factor why the graduation rate is so low. According to the Pat Tillman Foundation, Got Your Six, and Operation College Promise the average veteran who attempts to go back to school after getting out of the military carries with them 28 transfer credits, which automatically makes them sophomores. This makes it very surprising that the graduation rate is still so low. What makes going to college while on active duty easier? They recently have taken over a similar small company that employs technical staff in the same way. Iain s Co. feel that they need a centralised IT support system that will monitor, track and report problems that have been identified by their IT users across both sites. Iain s Co. have hired me as their Systems Analyst to provide them better solutions to manage their IT Supports system. What is systems analysis and how are systems analysed? Systems analysis is when business hire individuals to analyse their systems to determine what issues are present with their current systems and provide a solution that will fix the issues. In order to discover the issues with the system, the analyst must be able to interact with the business to identify how their current systems work. This means that a systems analyst must have complete access to their databases as well as being allowed to interact with employees. The main reason why the systems analyst would need to interact with the employees is so they are able to find the strengths and weaknesses of the system. This is useful to them as they will be able to identify what areas of the system need to be changed and what areas should be kept the same. My Recommendations for Iain s Co In ... This film, stars Robert Loggia, Bruce Marchiano, and Laurence Fuller. This story is set in Rome in 670 A.D, when Christians were being persecuted for their faith. The Apostle Peter relives the time he spent with Jesus, from the inspirational Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane. While in jail Peter tells the story of Jesus to a young guard named Martinian (Laurence Fuller) who is more interested in learning about Jesus than he lets on. Though Martinian risks everything by fraternizing with the Christian prisoner he pressures Peter to tell him of Jesus, His Message, and his journey with Jesus. One of the differences between the movie and the Bible is the fact that only the 12 disciples were present in Jesus Sermon on the Mount when the Bible describes the scene as being crowds gathering, Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. (Matt 5:1). Apostle Peter and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prenatal development can easily be categorized as a fascinating period of great anatomical and physiological progress. Yet, as time progresses and the wonders of medical technology advance at a limitless pace, such a time has recently been viewed as a period of constant and profound examinations for unborn infants. The term, prenatal examinations, can be divided into the three categories of prenatal screenings, genetic screenings, and diagnostic screenings. Prenatal screenings are primarily involved with the detections of the possible abnormalities and conditions that may be displayed by the infants. However, it has been vastly emphasized to be a non definitive diagnosis for most pregnancies. The normal and recommended blood tests as well as ultrasounds throughout pregnancies classify as a realm of prenatal screenings. Genetic screenings, considered by many to be a complex version of prenatal screenings, examine the alterations of the chromosomes, genes, and proteins of the fetus. Currently, genetic screenings are sub divided into three main categories, molecular genetic screenings, chromosomal genetic screenings, and biochemical genetic screenings. Molecular screenings examine the genes of a fetus in an attempt to recognize any mutations in the DNA of the fetus and to detect the likelihood of the development of a genetic disorder. Quentin Tarantino s Inglorious Bastards Quentin Tarantino s 2009 film Inglourious Bastards entails a Jewish revenge fantasy that is told through a counterfactual history of events in World War II. However, this story follows a completely different plot than what we are currently familiar with. Within these circumstances, audiences now question the very ideas and arguments that are often associated with World War II. We believe that Inglourious Basterds is a Jewish revenge fantasy that forces us to rethink our previous understandings by disrupting the viewers sense of content and nature in the history of World War II. These scenes depict Jewish and supporters revolt against Hitler s reign and the war in itself it was before American involvement. Inglourious Basterds argues that the American lens of Jews in World War II is inaccurate by contrasting the traditional American lens with a strong Jewish lens through parallel plots in the story. In Inglourious Basterds, we mentioned the opening scene which starts with the Jew Hunter in complete control and using fear tactics to make a French farmer give up the Jews he is harboring. This scene shows the Jew Hunter in full control of the situation with all power resting solely in his hands. The Jewish family being harbored is completely helpless as they hide under the floorboards. The Jews in this scene are in line with what the American perspective of Jews in World War II, helpless and at the mercy of the Nazis. However the Basterds violently contradict the American lens of Jew s role in World War II history. This is done so in the way the film is laid out with alternating five different chapters, which alternate between Jews having power and lacking power. The Basterds reverse the power structure and become the ones inflicting fear. They begin to not only kill Nazis they make the Nazis fear Jews. Nature has been deteriorating since the introduction of the human species, and Cronon attributes this issue to the destructive nature of humans. The essay begins with his thesis the time has come to rethink wilderness (Cronon 1). He challenges the reader to find the difference between wilderness and wildness. Cronon s biggest fear is violating the holiness of nature. Humanity s culture is based off the desire to have a unity with wilderness. Womenā€™s Inequality in the 20th Century Essay Throughout the twentieth century, American women fought for the right to vote, the right to make choices regarding their own bodies, and the right to be their own people. The disparities between men and women were often overlooked or blindly accepted, but as Gloria Steinem said, history is herstory too. After nearly 200 years of struggling, women made up only 10% of Congress, received wages less than 75% of their male counter parts, and are stigmatized based on their class and race. By the end of the century, female citizens were still treated unfairly in every aspect of American society. The English word for being devoted to your country is patriotic, which literally translates from Latin to loyal to a country ruled by men. In America during the 20th century patriotic was still the accurate word, as men overwhelmingly ruled the United States. Because of this fact, women in the 20th century did not reach political equality with men. In terms of sexuality, women in the 20th century were not considered equal to men because they were overwhelmingly abashed and judged due to the personal decisions they made regarding sex. While men s sexual conquests were disregarded or even praised, women were often shamed or called derogatory names for choosing to have sex. That the same decisions made by two different genders could have such opposite results proves that there wasn t sexual equality in America in the 20th century. Sexual assault is another place where 14.78% of women in America are victims of rape at some point in their lifetimes as of 2000. Yet the 60% of rape cases are never reported, and the vast majority of rapists investigated are never charged. That such a horrendous crime can affect so many women and yet have such a small penalty is appalling and a testimony to the sexual inequality of women. Another issue ... • 43. Peace Synthesis Essay Authors such as John Lederach, Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that one of the worst ways to go about building peace in a post conflict country is to approach it with an overly westernized strategy. Doing so leads to a failure to create public support for the new government and an ultimate failure to create lasting peace. Jarat Chopra, and Tanja Hohe explain that a far more effective strategy is one of integration. They believe that it is irresponsible to eliminate traditional structures of governance if they have been successful in the past at promoting peace. The goal of integration is to take traditional local sources of governance and use them to establish a better refined national government. This leads to a wider adoption rate of post conflict government and prevents power vacuums from occurring. Software Design Of A Computer Based System A key requirement of the software design of a computer based system is to transform basic requirements into an architecture that describes the software s top level structure and identifies its components. Accomplishment of this requirement is through architectural design, providing a blueprint for developing the framework of the software (Mattsson, Lundell, Lings, Fitzgerald, 2009). The establishment of the framework involves examining the software requirements document and designing a model for providing necessary implementation details. The details specify components of the system along with all inputs, outputs, functions, and the interactions between the components. This paper includes a description of the architectural design of a computer based system that has transform characteristics, and includes a data flow diagram with process narrative, and evaluation of the architectural design. The people from the neighborhoods would be the individuals that believe gang injunctions should not be enforced. One of the many problems involved with gang injunctions is that there is not a clear definition of what a gang is. Numerous definitions of gangs have come about through the decades. For example, the 2006 National Youth Gang Survey defines a gang as a group of youths in your jurisdiction that you are willing to classify as a gang (Egley, O Donnell, 2008). This definition of a gang is very vague because any group of youths can be seen as a gang. This definition does not always work. For example, a group of people who share a common interest like reading books or collecting baseball cards can be labeled as a gang. The National Gang Center and federal law define a gang as any ongoing group, club, organization, or association of five or more person: A) that has as one of its primary purposes the commission of one or more of the criminal offenses; B) the members of which engage, or have engaged within the past five years, in a continuing series of offenses; and C) the activities of which affect interstate or foreign commerce (Brief review of Federal and State definitions, 2009, p.1). In the perspective of the people, they didn t believe in the Pope to make wise and crucial decisions for Rome. Things came to an end when King Philip IV made a powerful order of denouncing the Pope. Texas being the number one state in all of the U.S. with more than 5 million Texans (19% of the population) uninsured in 2014 (this was a decrease of 700,000 individuals in 2013) would be expected to hold great support in order to lower the high rates of the uninsured (Walters, 2015). Throughout this course we have been given different texts and films about Anne Boleyn, and they have all shown Anne from a different perspective. I believe this novel greatly impacted what would go into my interpretation of Anne Boleyn, because I do see Anne in a respectful way. In my opinion this book is a great example of rhetoric. As defined before rhetoric can be a piece of writing that is used to persuade someone to think a certain way. Since the book is fiction, most would probably assume that it is just for entertainment. However, if you step back and look at the big picture, you can definitely see a hint of persuasion in it. I feel that Dunn was able to influence her readers to think of Anne the way she does, and sways them to look at Anne in a not so typical way. This novel also shows great support for feminism. Feminism is a belief to advocate women s rights and interests. Both of the main female characters, Anne and Kate, show an immense amount of strong traits and interests. They are both mature, honest women who stand up for what they believe is right. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization The United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO) defines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders . The term is explained through a Triple Bottom Line Approach as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives ( Triple Bottom Line ) while at the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders (Elkington, 1997). This approach assumes a very significant light in today s dynamic world where every aspect of life is inter connected in a very mysterious fabric, where the alteration of one can affect the others in ways beyond comprehension. Corporate Social Responsibility, both as a term and concept, started becoming popular in the 1960s, when industrialization which sprouted in the Industrial Revolution was fixating its roots all across the world.
