Our music video pitch
1. Music video:
“On top of the world”- Imagine Dragons, it was released as a
single on March 18th 2013. The song also appears on their album
“Night Visions”.
2. Main ideas:
• 4 actors each having a story told about what makes them happy
or brings them joy, which may not be commonly known.
• These include : gamer, motorcycle enthusiast, artist, someone
who loves animals.
• Throughout the video the actors will be introduced and their
stories will be told, this supports the ‘feel good’ sound to the
song.
Locations:
• Motorbike (Matlock)
• Gamer- Jamie’s house (for gaming equipment)
• Animal/dog person (scenic fields, walking route etc)
• Artist- Megan (school)
3. • With our idea for the music video, the main intentions are to appeal
to an audience that is roughly our own age (16+) due to all of the
actors/actresses being featured are of that age.
Uses and gratification theory:
• Using this theory it may explain that some of our audience will
watch our music video for reasons such as: entertainment or
escapism.
4. • The genre of the chosen song is considered ‘folk rock’, which
generally has the connotations of: happy, feel good, light hearted
music.
• Therefore our idea for the video is fairly suitable because we are
aiming to create a happy/feel good video by representing that through
the stories of the actors that will be shown.
• Furthermore our video wont contain any graphic scenes/imagery or
sexualisation of the characters in the video so it will be appropriate for
an audience of all ages.
