The National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) conducts regular socio-economic surveys in India. It is divided into four divisions: the Survey Design and Research Division plans surveys and develops methodology; the Field Operations Division conducts fieldwork; the Data Processing Division processes and analyzes the large volumes of data; and the Coordination and Publication Division disseminates results. The NSSO, established in 1950, is the largest organization conducting socio-economic surveys in India.
