1. Of Mice And Men Essay Dreams
Writing an essay on the theme of dreams in "Of Mice and Men" can be both challenging and
rewarding. On one hand, the novel delves into complex characters with unique aspirations,
making it rich material for analysis. However, capturing the essence of these dreams and their
impact on the characters requires a deep understanding of the text and its socio-historical context.
Crafting an essay on this topic involves dissecting the dreams of various characters, exploring the
underlying motivations, and evaluating the outcomes. One must also consider the symbolism
embedded in these aspirations, as well as the harsh reality that often shatters them. It demands a
nuanced interpretation of the American Dream, examining its portrayal through the lens of the
Great Depression.
Furthermore, the task involves weaving together quotes, examples, and analysis to construct a
coherent argument. Balancing the exploration of individual dreams with an overarching theme
can be intricate, requiring careful planning and organization. Additionally, addressing potential
counterarguments and presenting a well-rounded perspective adds another layer of complexity.
The challenge lies not only in comprehending the nuances of the novel but also in expressing
those insights eloquently. Articulating the profound impact of dreams on the characters and the
broader themes of the narrative demands a refined writing style and analytical prowess.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of dreams in "Of Mice and Men" is a formidable task
that necessitates a deep engagement with the text. The ability to navigate the intricacies of
character motivations, symbolism, and broader societal contexts is crucial. Despite the
difficulties, successfully unraveling the layers of this theme can lead to a profound
understanding of the novel and its timeless relevance.

2. Importance Of Deep Sea Ports
The development of deep sea ports as an economic infrastructure plays a vital role in
the transportation and communication system from country to country. The
improvement in such economic infrastructures effects the growth of a country in a
positive way. Coastal countries such as Britain, Spain and Portugal are the finest
example of development by the help of maritime powers. Their Ports had played a
significant and critical role in the development of their economies.
Deep sea port development has positive effects on employment and revenue
earnings of a country. Exports and imports occur through the sea; therefore
making a positive trade and balance of payment. The cluster of activities in sea
ports all over the world clearly shows that ports have significant economic impact
both locally and regionally and nationally. The leading sector of a country like
Singapore is its deep sea port. Ports have enabled Japan to build export processing
zones that have turned Japan into exporters of goods which cannot be produced on
the basis of country s factor endowment profile. As exports create a multiplier effect
on the domestic economy, building a sea port will create an expansion in the export
level. There are at least four significant reasons for establishing a deep sea port in
Sonadia, such as:
1) To provide facilities for uninterrupted coalsupply for the power plants to be
established in
Moheskhali.
2) To retain and support the country s expanding trade needs for the
3. Persuasive Essay On Breastfeeding
Women in this world have a right to bear children and take care of them. As a new
parent, there are millions of questions, worries, and decisions one deals with
throughout the whole child s life. When a child is first born, a mother has to decide
whether or not to breastfeed or formula feed. The nutrition a baby receives in the
first months of life is what determines if the baby has a good or bad start. Women
should breastfeed their children because breastfeedingboosts chances of success for
their child, allows their baby to receive natural immunity from antibodies, mothers
are less likely to develop diseases such as cancers or diabetes, and breastfeeding
stimulates oxytocin to promote bonding between mother and child. Breastfeeding is
the best choice for a baby.
The natural process of breastfeeding is the most beneficial for the baby and many
studies have concluded that breastfeeding boosts chances of success. In Brazil, a
group of doctors took on a project to see if there was a difference from a breastfed
child and a formula fed one. These doctors randomly picked out more than 3,000
babies and studied them from the time they were born until they turned thirty years
old (Breast Feeding). Once these babies reach thirty, they were given an IQ test that
concluded, the subjects who were breast fed for 12 months or more had a higher IQ
than those who were breast fed for less than one month. The difference in IQ was
3.76 points (Horta). Not only does breastfeeding have an
4. Transformational Learning Within The Student Athlete
Recent studies have demonstrated the powerful impact of transformational learning
on feelings of cynicism among college students (Duarte, 2010). Transformational
learning within the student athlete population has not been empirically studied,
although the potential benefits are enormous as student athletes have been found to
experience feelings of cynicism throughout their collegiate careers, despite initial
feelings of optimism (Adler Adler, 1985). The commercialized nature of
intercollegiate athletics today presents a unique environment in which to implement
effective studentathlete focused career development interventions. Student athletes
face developmental difficulties unique to the student athlete experience within a
socially, athletically, and academically micromanaged context (Duarte, 2010).
Transformational learningcan exist as a byproduct of emancipatory learning, which
can help student athletes navigate the demands of conflicting roles, reflect critically,
and negotiate profound transitions. Transformational learning has the potential to
enhance student athlete specific career development initiatives. The barriers of
transformational learning among the student athlete population will be examined
within a social, developmental, and psychological context. The Five Step Career
Planning Strategy considers all aspects of an athlete s life, which may help student
athletes balance their conflicting roles, while encouraging perspective transformation

5. The Case Of Brinegar V. United States
1.Probable cause is a set of facts surrounding a specific circumstances that leads a
reasonable person to believe an individual is committing, has committed or is about
to commit a crime. Probable cause is required in the instances of an arrest, search and
seizure and the issuance of a warrant. To ESTABILISH reasonable cause the officer
can use any trustworthy information. For example the office could use his/her
experience, informant information, first hand observations or knowledge, victim
reports, anonymous tips, or hearsay.
In the case of Brinegar v. United States, the petitioner claimed that the arresting
officer violated his 4th amendment rights and illegally search his car. In the search
and siezure the officer found that the petitioner was transporting intoxicating liquor
into Oaklahoma, which is a direct violation of law. The courts found that the arresting
office had arrested the petitioner on the same violation several months earlier and this
was enough reasonable cause to conduct the search ans seizure.
Reasonable suspicion is different from probable cause as reasonable suspicion allows
an officer to temporarily detain a person if the officer suspects the person of
committing a crime, previously committed a crime, or is about to commit a crime.
This will allow the officer the time to conduct an investigation that may allow him
/her to find the facts that are required to arrest per probable cause. Therefore,
reasonable suspicion is thought of to be a hunch

From Aunt Jullia when we would slowly drive around Memorial and River Oaks to
get new ideas and admire what we saw. You probably know that it takes talent to not
over do it, especially when you have a lot of money.
Barbara then looked directly at the moon and said, Do you think that bright beautiful
moon, casting its light on the plants and creating shadows had something to do with
the Creator s plan? Or what happens when the moon shines down on you, and what
does it create or add to your complex being?
Cassie, at the time, wasn t thinking of her self but about Robert Cody and, I wonder
what Robert Cody is like alone, and I wonder why he looks so sad. Tomorrow, why
don t you ask Uncle Ignacio that question, and besides, he would appreciate your
interest. You know, I think that Uncle Ignacio likes you.

Breakfast was at 8:30 the following morning on a screened porch adjacent to the
kitchen and overlooking the lake. Cassie was the last to be seated as she made

Mother, then Uncle Ignacio, and said Uncle Ignacio, tell me about Robert Cody.

8. The IPO of XYZ Construction Inc. Essay
XYZ Construction Inc. like many other organizations has outgrown its geographical
boundaries and as a result the leadership team plans on expanding its horizontal
construction nationally and internationally. du Plessis (2009) suggested that
globalization and internationalization challenges are now demanding that
organizational managers fine tune or draft new policies and procedures to stay
competitive in the global markets. As such, the leadership within XYZ Construction
Inc. has also decided to transition from a private to a public ownership construct and
launch its initial public offering(IPO). Going forward there is a number of issues that
need to be briefed to the executive level within XYZ Construction, Inc. Specifically,
there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons is that Chinese IPO markets are known to be extremely
underpriced and as a result China ranks first among 45 countries with respect to
IPO underpricing. Guo et al. (2011) also suggested that there is a great number of
optimistic investors waiting for high initial day returns despise the greatly reduced
potential benefit from IPOs, nevertheless they are still thought to be highly
profitable. Lastly, during the last decade or so the IPO market in China has
developed and maintained a good track record for profits. Consequently, the China
example is encouraging to support the investors desire to launch XYZ Construction,
Inc. IPO, which as aforementioned may very well benefit from an underpriced IPO
market. Additionally, it is prudent to point out that there are expenses associated
with an IPO yet these are worth in the long run. As suggested by Booth (2011.)
Underpricing comes at the expense of the original owners and venture capitalists of
the issuing firm (Booth, 2011, p. 4). However, there is a general tendency that
investors do not sell their shares after the lockup period expires, nevertheless,
underpricing will be considered a predictable cost of going public (Booth, 2011).
Lastly, XYZ Construction, Inc. stakeholders should realize encouraging results as
capital is generated while simultaneously growing the market capital in both domestic
and international markets.

Refinery Industry пЃ®Global market refining trends 1.Global oil production will
continue to grow as conventional supplies are increasingly complemented by
unconventional sources to meet demand. Physical production limits (so‐called
peak oil ) are unlikely to be reached before 2035. 2.Asian excess supply capacity
this excess refining capacity helps provide a buffer against unexpected demand or
supply shocks surplus capacity does, however, place competitive pressures on
refineries globally, and there will remain a risk of further rationalization in the
Australian refining industry as Australia s relatively small refineries continue to
struggle to compete against mega‐refineries in Asia. 3.Structural change in

structural change is largely the market response to: Excess capacity in Asia and
Middle East changing demand patterns and the makeup of the demand‐barrel

supplies Shifts in regional storage, distribution and trade. In the context of a global
surplus of refining capacity, weak demand and tight refining margins, refiners are
lowering refinery utilization (as they have done globally to historically low levels)
and are closing more marginal refineries. Refinery rationalization since the GFC in
2008 has been, and
10. Stephen Curry Case Study
Stephen Curry has sprained his right knee during the Warriors playoff game against
the Houston Rockets on Sunday. Curry has missed the last two games of the series,
including the Game 3 loss that has now made it a more competitive series.
The Warriors guard was guarding Houston forward Trevor Ariza when he failed to
gain his footing and appeared to injure his own leg. Curry has limped off to his team
s locker room. He tried to return for the second half of the game with the intention of
playing, but went back to the locker room.
Warriors Coach Steve Kerr said that Curry tweaked the inside part of his knee, and
that he slipped on a wet spot on the floor. Despite of his temporary absence , the

Currently, the Warriors still lead the series at 2 1, but the resilient Rockets managed
to bounce back and closed the gap with a one point victory at Game 3. Curry s injury
will continue to test Warriors tenacity, without their top scorer the Warriors need to
take some drastic measures, taking some replacements. The Warriors will likely turn
to the capable Shaun Livingston as Curry s temporary replacement, while Andre
Iquodala and Draymond Green can also make some contributions and ball handling
roles. Since the two have plenty of experience initiating game sets and taking ball

12. The Cost Of Attending College
In today s society, multitudes of our high school graduates are being pushed and
excessively encouraged to attend college. Attending these colleges has negatively
affected many college graduates, such as providing attendees debt and wasted
resources on attaining a college degree. However, the pros considerably outweigh the
cons on the worth of a collegedegree. College is worth the cost because it gives
graduates ample opportunity and success, larger wages than that of non college
graduates, and gives graduates life skills that will stupendously bene/fit them not
only in the work force, but also later in life.

Attending college introduces you into a whole different perspective of life. College
provides you an opportunity to have a glimpse of how well you can perform and live
on your own. Yes, you still need to study, achieve the grades to stay in college, and
does expand your knowledge, but the social skill learned by having to meet with the
professor, or having to acquire new friends, or how to manage your time wisely help
an individual prepared for the jobs you will be working on after college. There are a
few reasons that may compel people question if college is worth it, like how will I
pay off my student debt? or I can still find a job that pays just as well. These
reasons are wrong and here s why. College graduates are paid on average $21.77 for
men and $18.43 for women (chart). The minimum wage for non college graduates is
$7.25. That is about a third of what a college education can earn for you. Another
statistic is that college graduates gain almost $20,000 more a year than non college
graduates. The median gap in annual earnings between a high school and college
graduate as reported by the U.S Census Bureau in 2010: $19,550 (Is College Worth

is on average around $30,000. The extra $20,000 made can help pay the debt off and
can help you in the long run if you choose to save

Communication can be classified as formal or informal, internal or external as well.
Informal and formal communication are very common forms of communication
within the business workplace and can also play a role in the daily lives of people.
Informal communication is generally used in daily life because it can be defined as a
less serious way of communicating such as texting, socializing with peers, or a simple
verbal conversation. On the other hand, formal communication is more common in a
workplace environment than informal communication would be. Formal
communication is more common because communication between colleagues and
managers is meant to be held on a certain level of respect and formality and be
focused on the task at hand.
Verbal and nonverbal are also forms of communications that exist within the
workplace as well. Nonverbal is a form of communication that can be translated and
observed based on body language. This can be a difficult thing to manage and
control in the workplace because anything like a handshake that is not firm and eye
contact that is not direct when you are having a conversation with someone can be
interpreted in many ways and some have the possibility as being seen as offensive.
For example, Nonverbal communication can be anything that ranges from facial

In 1988 abortion legislation was abolished by the supreme court of Canada
(Flanagan 120). Current law was deemed to violate a women s security of person
under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Wikipedia). Drafting and
passing abortion legislation became the responsibility of the current Prime Minister
and the House of Commons (Flanagan 121). Attempts by Brian Mulroney to
introduce abortion legislation into the House of Commons and senate failed
repeatedly (Flanagan 121). ) Despite public opinion favoring moderate legislation,
abortion in Canada remains unlegislated (Flanagan 121).Under the circumstances
stated why does Canadian abortion law remain in a state of limbo?

The Members of Parliament could now be categorized according to their opinions.
Flanagan analyzed this data by placing the MP s into seven groups:

2. 12 Pro choice compromisers who voted for amendments one and five
3. 17 Pro choice leaning moderates who voted for amendments one, five and the

4. 38 moderates who voted for the government resolution
5. 12 Pro life leaning moderates who supported the government resolution plus

6. 9 Pro life compromisers who voted for amendment three and the government

7. 96 Resolute pro lifers who voted for amendment two and/or three and against the
government resolution. (Flanagan 127)
A strange phenomenon had occurred: the ninety six pro lifer s voted against the
government resolution in the final vote and by default supported the status quo a
seemingly pro choice option. Flanagan mentions that the expected outcome would be
for the majority to coalesce around the position of the median voter...as is predicted
by elementary rational analysis of uni dimensional conflicts (Flanagan 127). He fails
to explain this comment. What is a uni dimensional conflict and why does this
situation violate its expectations?
A uni dimensional conflict is a dispute involving a single issue, such as abortion, with
gradated strengths of opinion (Brams 28). It can be represented graphically with

Ethnic and national identities of Koreans in Kazakhstan by Yekaterina Pak
On March 1 2013, in the apartment of my older brother, in small town in the north
of Kazakhstan, everything was prepared for the celebration of my niece s first year
birthday that Koreans usually call tol . Small low wooden table was covered with
different subjects symbolizing various good wishes for our little girl s future: a
spool of thread for long life, a book for knowledge, bowl of rice for prosperity,
money for richness and others. My niece was wearing special Korean dress hanbok
that was brought from Korea and was handed over among my relatives whenever
they have their own tol . The tradition of first year birthday has been always kept in
my family as a reminiscence of our ethnic belonging. Currently in Kazakhstan live
about one hundred thousands ethnic Koreans whose families were deported to the
Soviet Kazakhstan almost eighty years ago from the Far East. Stalin s repression
politics regarding ethnic minorities who were living next to the borders has
significantly transformed identities of the deported people. How do Koreans in
Kazakhstan experience their ethnic and national identities in the context of multi
ethnic state? Living all my life in Kazakhstan and being a third generation of ethnic
Koreans living outside the place of ethnic origin, I have never questioned my
identities and have never thought how important it can be. In order to investigate my

Childhood is a time where children learn about the world around themselves. They
see and experience many factors that influence their everyday lives, which help them
grow stronger when they become adults. In Girl ; by Jamaica Kincaid and The
Lesson ; by Toni Cade Bambara the characters within the stories learn valuable lesson
with help them grow to become better individuals. In The Lesson ; the character of
Sugar undergoes a realization that society does not treat everyone equally, that not
every individual has the same opportunity and equality that they should have. In Girl ;

In this quotation Sugar realizes what Miss Moore set out to teach the lower
classed and deprived children, her goal was to open their eyes and make them
aware of how much more there is out there then making pocket change. What kinda
work they do and how they live and how come we ain t in on it? Where we are is
who we are, Miss Moore always pointin out. But it don t necessarily have to be that
way, she always adds then waits for somebody to say that poor people have to

eyes wide open and with her mind curious and educated, Sugar and her friends
realize that in order for them to get some where in life they have to work at it, but
not as in individual but as a whole, a class. The only way for them to make a
difference to change societies view of their class and become part of the rest of
societies.
In Girl ; Kincaid lists a series of orders from a mother to a daughter in such a way
that the characters lives are illuminated and transformed by the mundane
household details. The Girl ; is more of a gender type of a story, but there is also a
lesson that needs to be realized by the girl. In this story the mother of this girl is
her teacher, she tells her daughter of how the world is around her, just like Miss

that he needs to be viewed as a woman within society. Who or what the

One, must also look to the effects of interdependence on inequality between nations.
When looking at inequality among nations, Melinda Hills, examines the
internationalization of markets, tax competition, and volatility of markets. Capital
and Labour are assets becoming more fluid in the interdependent world. This leads
to the race to the bottom as shown above, and the effects negatively impact
industrialized countries the most. As shown in the article, industrialized countries
will lose jobs through companies outsourcing to cheaper areas to produce. This
leads in a shift in industrialized economies, workers in the industrial sector now

income. This leads... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an ever connected world, travel among states in increasingly common and
accepted. However, a state must maintain power to secure its borders.
Interdependence opens states to threats around the world. For example, the Ebola
virus broke out in West Africa in March 2014, and by October of that year the United
States reported its first case of the virus. The disease also spread to many European
countries. Now, many will point out that this disease was concentrated in Africa, did
not affect the United States or Europe heavily, and does not show the danger of
interdependence and less border security. However, the effect of the disease in other
areas of the world does not matter, all that is being shown is the rate at which
something can spread in the interdependent world. If there were a disease that was
more resistive to Western medical advances one could see how this level of
interdependence could lead to terrible outcomes. Another example that is relevant
in this age of easy travel between countries is that of terrorist organizations. ISIS is
a prime example of how less border security leads to larger threats. ISIS has claimed
credit for and has perpetrated themselves many terrorist attacks abroad. Not only
should nations have stronger border security to stop ISIS affiliates from entering a
country, but also be able to screen individuals leaving the country as to make sure
they are not involved in terrorist groups. Now some may argue that nations can build
up their border security while remaining interconnected, however, as we see it is
cause and effect. Interdependence makes countries border security
19. World War I Was The First Major War
World War I was the first major war where technology was relied on more than the
troops themselves. After what was called the Second Industrial Revolution most
major countries started to create new technologies that in the end would pave the
way for World War I. These technologies ranged from the most used everyday
things all the way up to specific types of weaponry to be used in specific scenarios
along the trenches. Most of these technologies of war, developed from common
civilian or household items, these could only result in better use in war. These
machines of war are so vast and expansive in type, but they are all technologies that
would have needed to have been used to bring the war to a close. Not only were
machines a large part but so was Scientific technologies, and innovations that saved
or took the lives of many. In many European countries two major types of
transportation reigned over the newer types, these being ships and trains. Both were
used extensively and the usage of them would carry into World War I
, changing
tactics armies took and the speed of their movement as well as their survival. Ships
were used mainly for larger distances ( ie: America to Europe ) where Trains were
only able to carry smaller things along the front or from certain Capitals to the front
itself. The usage of the trains allowed for the movement of shells that were
continually made in factories on the home front, the shells could be run along from
the Factories to the shelling

Introduction The most commonly used temperature units in science lab were Celsius,
Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. These three units can use certain equation to change its units
from one to another. The specific heat is a term for a number of calories in heat
needed to raise the temperature of 1g of substance by 1ВєC. A thermometer, beakers,
and calorimeter were frequently used in this lab.
Procedure
The initial temperature of the water was measured when it is in beaker. When the salt
is added, it is concluded how salt can lower the water temperature. The temperature
was measured in Celsius and was changed to both Fahrenheit and Kelvin. The second
experiment involved the heat exchange between metal and water. The metal in beaker

Dickens Use of the Supernatural in A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol is built upon numerous contrasts: rich and poor, family and
loneliness, generosity and miserliness, affection and cruelty, past, present and future.
Most of these contrasting forces are brought to light within the character of Scrooge
himself. The compulsive, lonely, miserly man, who eats his abstemious meals in the
shadows, emerges from his cold heartedness into a generous, fun loving, warm and
caring man. Dickens uses a lot of rich contrasting imagery within the character
Scrooge to prepare the reader for his conversion well before the concluding chapter.

begs to help them, have they no refuge or resource? and he is reminded of the
coldness of his words earlier in the story. They are shown to him I believe because,
like he would be after his death, he is powerless to help them and this causes
outstanding amounts of guilt to whelm up within Scrooge. I also believe the twins
had another message, though this time not for Scrooge. Dickens wanted to make all
the readers of A Christmas Carol, the warm and tender Christmas novella, aware of
the fact that it was based on the poor and starving, Dickens wanted to warm the
heart of the public but also get them to reach out to the young and starving children
on London s street, which like Scrooge they just walk past every day. The twins are
very powerful in getting this message across as the reader could not just ignore the
fact that they are just as bad as Scrooge if they do
22. Why Pursue Legal Education
Through the trajectory of my life, there have been many experiences that have
contributed to my drive to pursue a legal education and seek social justice. From
my family, to my volunteer activities, to my present employment; every single thing
I have taken part in over the last 21 years has played a role in my desire to study and
practice law.
Last December, I received the most definitive phone call of my university career. I
was selected amongst a high number of applicants to be the Head of the Social
Science Orientation Program. I had committed countless hours to this program, my
team, our charity initiatives, and my first year mentees. I was now responsible for
selecting, training, and leading 90 volunteers through the execution of a successful
orientation week, and first year, for 1,700 incoming students. Beyond my designated
role of implementing programming and managing a $20,000 budget, I had two
crucial obligations within this position. First, I was to build a team with strong
leadership skills, to ensure that the incoming class would receive adequate ... Show

My goal is to use my education and critical thinking skills to find solutions and light
in dark situations. I want to pair my commitment to justice and my compassion for
others with a law degree in order to have the chance to improve the quality of life of
those in need and help them to regain hope. The University of Ottawa Faculty of
Law can provide me with that chance. Ottawa s Law school shares my passion for
leadership and community engagement, as made evident through the variety of hands
on experiences available through legal clinics that work closely with the law school.
At Ottawa, I can achieve an exceptional education and continue my active
involvement on campus and within the community. The opportunity to real world

24. The Importance Of Animals In Captivity
Animals in captivity are denied the key elements needed to mentally grow and
physically evolve as a species. Zoos are solely responsible for taking animals from
their natural habitats and placing them in small enclosures where they are not able to
live healthier and fulfilling lives that they were to live if not for being captured. Zoos
are unable to provide proper habitats that replicate an animal s natural habitat, this can
lead the animalsto develop harmful diseases such as arthritis due improper climates
that are fatal to certain animals, or even neurotic diseases caused by deprivation.
Zoos are not suitable to fit the needs of wildlife, as they produce negative effects on
an animal s physical health and jeopardize its psychological state.
The small enclosure that zoos provide to its captives lacks the ability to replicate an
animal s natural habitat which threatens a species physical health. Elephants typically

better to a baby elephant versus an adult elephant. When the animals get older and

sold to farms where hunters pay to kill them. Zoos force animals into artificial
insemination which leads to miscarriages, a mother neglecting her young, and infant
mortality. It also leads to defects in the species gene pool by disrupting the natural
25. Uniting Bowl Kabbalah
The uniting bowl provides a place where everything bonds Before we create
anything we should provide a space and place for it to form. The empty bowl
provides the ingredients a place to unite and transform into dough. Since ancient time
humans mixed dough ingredients in a basin before it reached the stage of kneading.
The bowl s shape caused all contents to arrive at the center at the same time,
therefore the force of mixing caused the integration between them. A woman s belly
is envisioned as a bowl of life. After mixing the materials it creates independent life.

end of the kneading it is an auspicious time, the gate of heaven is open and it is
important to utilize this time for prayers and requests. It is said in the book of
Genesis (48:22) I m giving you one more mountain ridge than your brothers. I took
it from the Amorites with my own sword and bow. Commentators say that my own
sword means my own prayer and that my bow means my request . The sword s
power is from its own sharpness, the bow s power depends on the archer; therefore,
the more the archer pulls, the higher the arrow will fly. As for our prayers: we have
prayers that are like sword they are the ones that our sages taught us, and they are
very powerful and holy. However, we have the right to express our heart s desires,

28. The Influence Of Gays In The Military
Introduction Our military is deeply rooted in history, and looking back, it is very
clear those who served in World War I and even World War II were successful
thanks to the laws then preventing females or homosexuals to serve their country in
combat. Since then, our military has made changes not only in how to conduct
combat operations, but who may serve, and more importantly who may see action
in the air and on the ground as first line defenders. During these early periods, our
military member s sleeping quarters were open bay, and the lavatories were also
open as well as the showers. Additionally, there was stereotyping occurring and men
were to go to combat and the women remained at home and cared for the family and
work in the factories to provide supplies to those in combat. Women and homosexuals
were able to serve their country, however, for women they were not allowed to fill
certain jobs due to the combat requirements of those jobs. On the other hand, men
who were homosexuals were serving in all areas and for both male and female
homosexuals, they could not identify or tell others their sexual preference, as they
would face punishment and then discharged from the military. Just within the past
few years, the removal of any Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) and
homosexual identity within the Department of Defense is now part of our military
history. Eliminating these inequalities within this elite organization continues to

31. The Impact Of Neuropsychology On The Christian Faith
The Christian faith is pluralistic, meaning, There [are] as many ways to love God
as there [are] Christian souls (Salzman, 2000, p.77). This reaches greater
complexity when considering the impact of neuropsychology on the Christian
faith. People experience God in a plethora of ways, but what about seemingly brain
induced experiences? Salzman (2000) describes the journey of Sister John, a nun at
the Carmelite convent in Los Angeles. She experiences headaches that develop into
deep spiritual episodes, which her doctor later informs her, are the symptoms of her
recurring seizures. Sister John has temporal lobe epilepsy and her doctor explains
that it, tend[s] to be more psychological (Salzman, 2000, p.68). Sister John s
spiritual episodes were presumably caused by her medical condition. So, were all of
her spiritual encounters with Goda lie? Was her faith a fabrication? The implication
of these questions can be quite troubling for the Christian faith. Is God simply a
manifestation created within our minds? Objects exist because they exist within the
realm of our senses. If we cannot trust our senses, then what truly exists outside of
ourselves? Sister John describes a memory of her being drawn into service at the
convent. She attended an early morning mass on Christmas Day when something
odd happened. If one looks closely, she describes experiences of depersonalization,
Instead of feeling trapped in a theater showing a bad movie, she saw herself as the

32. Catching A Sport
Sports have always been competitive by nature with each one having a vast number
of viewers and fans that will defend their sport with all their might and slander or
trash talk on all the other sports. The word sport is generally associated with
athletics such as football but when it comes to a non athletic then it becomes a
problem for people to define it as a sport. Sport comes from Old French desport
meaning leisure . Adding to this idea, Sport Accord, the international committee of
sports, defines a sport by having an element of competition, provide no harm to
animals, not rely on equipment from a single supplier, and not rely on any luck .

Catching is an essential skill in football so in order to master the skill an individual
must first learn how to catch and throw. Learning how to perform the skill at a faster
rate is the next step after knowing how to perform the skill. After you learn how to
throw the ball then you can start practicing with the speed of the throw. When you
have learned the skill and have practiced to perform it well then you practice to
perform it consistently by being fatigued, under stress, or under pressure. Overall
practicing a skill takes a tremendous amount of time and effort that separates the
level between all the competitors in a sport. Skills don t necessarily have to be
physical they can be related to mental processes too. For example, in chess where
one must try and predict and read their opponents next possible move, it requires
the use of the mental state to be able to counter the opponent s moves. Every sport
whether physical or mental contains a multitude of skills that must be mastered by
the player. This is what makes every sport extremely tough to compete in due to
the tremendous amount of practice that must be done to be great at every possible
skill. A player s weaknesses lie where skills are either lacking or underdeveloped
such as in basketball where there may be a player that is great at passing, but has
mediocre scoring skills. Skills are essential in order to play any sport since they
apply to each different ability that is performed in the sport. Therefore, applying those
skills to something in a competitive manner makes a

WHAT WAS OLD IS NEW AGAIN
As mentioned in the introduction, operations management has been, and remains,
one of the greatest organizational challenges throughout history. OM arises from the
need to coordinate diverse resources to meet the needs of a complex system. The
concept of the plan execute control model, a discovery made by analysts in the late
1990 s, appears in the historical records of systems management, one of the earliest
mentions circa 4th century BC in China. One of the more versatile models in
modern systems management appeared in 1977 as a result of a joint effort between
Dr J.S. Lawson of the Naval Electronic Systems Command and Dr. Paul Moore of
the Naval Postgraduate School. Figure 2 shows the Lawson Moore model, adapted by
the author for general resource management.
SENSE is the collection of raw data or other collateral information about the
observed environment. PROCESS takes the data through the inference hierarchy,
integrating data within the context of the tasks required of the managed resources.
The situation as best can be determined with the resources is then compared to the
DESIRED STATE. The DESIRED STATE is the result of planning, which drives the
allocation of resources to tasks. The plan exists in generalities, except for enterprises
where goals are achieved with simple tasks assigned to few or

Beginning Of...
My view on leadership has not changed very much from the beginning of this
course. However, I have been able to learn more formal theories and ideas that
support my definition of leadership. I have always compared leadership to
management because though the two are different when it comes down to it, they do
share a few similarities. My definition of leadershipthat I referred to throughout this
course was: a continuous process where an individual motivates changes and
inspires others to achieve a common purpose. This course really confirmed for me
that leadership is an ongoing process and one is never done learning how to
become a leader. This course made me realize though, how management is good,
but good leadership is more important to a company. We look at several studies
about how a manager s leadership can influence sales, employee motivation, and so
much more. For me, this reinforces my idea that being a manager is just not enough
anymore, but one also has to be an inspiring leader for their followers. Leadership is
taking what management does a step further by understanding their followers,
encouraging growth, and inspiring a way to get there. Finally, this course confirmed
for me that there are no set personality traits that make someone a good leader.
Instead, there are traits that are common amongst leaders. This does not mean that
those who do not possess those traits cannot become leaders, it just mean they may
have to work a bit harder than others.

35. Examples Of Materialism In A Perfect Day For Bananafish
John Steinbeck suggests that to a monster the norm must seem monstrous, since
everyone is normal to himself . Just as some people are born missing limbs or with
another physical birth defect, such as a birthmark, others could be born missing a
trait vital to communicate with the world around them or lose a trait throughout
the course of their life. Although this missing trait is not visible to others in
society, does not mean it is any less serious. For instance, Seymour has a severe
case of PTSD after returning from war that causes his actions to seem abnormal to
those around him, even his family. Furthermore, Seymour finds that the actions of
those around him, the materialistically obsessed, are difficult for him to cope with.
In J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish , Salinger depicts how life is for the
monsters like Seymour in such a materialistic society. Seymour, a seemingly normal
man to the naked eye, is secluded from the world around him. Searching for an
escape from such an uninviting society, Seymour takes some big grasps for help
before committing to his eventual demise. Salinger begins his depiction of Seymour
through disdain before he brings the audience to his heart breaking conclusion.
Salinger indicates that the emotionally fragile cannot survive in a materialistic and
superficial society because society is not willing to accept those who are different.
Salinger begins his short story by depicting a materialistic society; in turn, he creates

South Park wanted to show homage to the French satirical paper that published
comedic pictures of Muhammad. The creators dedicated 200 and 201 to the paper
after their own convictions; both episodes would feature Muhammad as well.
Comedy Central received threats of extreme violence if the prophet Muhammad
was displayed in any way on the show. The creative group behind South Park was
prepared to endure the repercussions of their comedy. In 200, Muhammad is in a
truck to include, but exclude the character from vision. I think they were
concerned about the approach of giving in to the ultimatum, and essentially
backing down altogether. The boundaries regarding freedom of expression should
not adjust to the whims or threats of bullies otherwise known as terrorists. The
network received more threats of terror and the morning of the airing of 201, the
network censored Muhammad with a giant box all over his face with CENSORED
written on it. There are no copies of 201 uncensored available whatsoever and you
can only watch the episode on the commemorative DVD package of the season.

38. Lady Macbeth s Behavior
The Analysis of Lady Macbeth How does the mastermind and accomplice of a
murder cope with the crime they helped commit? What happens if their partner in
crime goes rogue? In Shakespeare s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is introduced as a
power obsessed individual who bullies her husband into killing their king and exits
as a woman whose guilt has consumed her to the point where she cannot continue.
The source of her cruelty can be attributed to the demons she invited to rid her of
feminine qualities in preparation for the murder. The behavior of this woman can be
compared to the actions of another famous queen: Queen Elizabeth I. In a play
centered on a man whose morality is deteriorating, the sanity and will to live of a
woman diminishes. The transformation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Portillo states that Queen Elizabeth knew how to command, and understood
instinctively how to make use of the symbols of authority (9). Obtaining authority
through the manipulation of Macbeth would be an example of Lady Macbeth s
behavior that is similar to Queen Elizabeth s behavior. Another example of how
Lady Macbeth and Queen Elizabeth are similar is their usage of the concept of
power replacing children. It can be assumed that Lady Macbeth had lost a child
because of the lines previously mentioned and the lack of a Baby Macbeth in the
play. Queen Elizabeth had forgone the joys of...childbearing in order...to be
mother of all English people (Portillo 9). The final similarity between the two is
their replacement by a new power. Lady Macbeth s husband was replaced by
Malcolm who planned to reinvent Scotland, as evidenced by the following lines,
What s more to do, / Which would be planted newly with the time ... So thanks to
all at once and to each one, / Whom we invite to see us crowned at Scone (Macbeth
5.8.65 76). The reign of Elizabeth I can be described as a wonderful awakening in
its intellectual, military, and artistic life (Portillo 10), however, the reign of her
relative, James I, was significantly different. The relation of Lady Macbeth and
Queen Elizabeth I through their actions and behavior, lack of children, and
significance of death as the end of an era may have been the whole reason the play
Macbeth was
39. The Trial Process For A Criminal Case
Introduction There are many aspects of the pre trial process for a criminal case.
First step of the process begins with the persons arrest. A suspect is then booked
into the system and may be able to post bail. Then comes the arraignment and they
maybe a possible plea bargain and then a preliminary hearing if no plea bargain is
reached. Two Types of Crimes In Pretrial criminal cases there are two types of
crimes, misdemeanors and felonies. There are two events that can occur. One is a
criminal complaint and the other is a warrantless arrest. A warrantless arrest can
happen if someone commits a crime right in the presence of an officer. The officer
does not have time to go get an arrest warrant and go find the suspect. So in this case

Some jurisdictions don t require an initial appearance by the suspect. The suspect
should be brought before a judge within a reasonable amount of time, ideally less
than 6 hours. The initial appearance advises the suspect of the reason for
detainment, their right to have appointed counsel, their protection against self
incrimination. Bail can also be set at this point. The initial appearance is usually a
brief hearing. Probable Cause Hearing The 4th Amendment requires that a
probable cause hearing be held if an arrest is made without a warrant. The purpose
of the probable cause hearing is to determine if there is probable cause to hold a
person in custody. To prevent prolonged confinement the probable cause hearing is
usually held quickly to determine the validity of the arrest charges. A neutral party
needs to determine the validity so that the suspect is not detained unnecessarily as
detainment affects their income and family. Bail If someone has been arrested for a
minor offense and does not pose a flight risk they may be eligible for pre trial
release. If there is a chance the suspect might not show up for court then they are
likely to remain jailed until their court date. To insure that a suspect will show up for
their court date they are required to post bail. This is a payment made to the court on
behalf of the suspect. The Eighth Amendment states that
40. Essay about Analysis of German Film Run Lola Run
Analysis of German Film Run Lola Run
Run Lola Run, is a German film about a twenty something woman (Lola) who has
20 minutes to find $100,000 or her love (Manni) will be killed. The search for the
money is played through once with a fatal ending and one would think the movie
was over but then it is shown again as if it had happened ten seconds later and
changed everything. It is then played out one last time. After the first and second
sequence, there is a red hued, narrative bridge. There are several purposes of those
bridges that affect the movie as a whole. The film Run Lola Run can be analyzed by
using the four elements of mise en scene. Mise en scene refers to the aspects of film

Surrounding Lola and Manni is a number of frightened customers and cashiers. This
contrast in setting shows how private the bridge scene is compared to the robbery
scene. The privacy of the bedroom scene allows Lola and Manni to show their more
sensitive and vulnerable sides. The next element of mise en scene is lighting. As stated
earlier, the entire bedroom scene has a red hue to it. This red hue also goes along
with the whole idea of privacy. The red tint seems to be the chosen shade because it
runs parallel with the idea of two people in a bedroom possible being intimate. On the
other hand, the lighting in the robbery scene is completely different. The entire front
half of the grocery store is a huge window. The time of the robbery is high noon, so
there is a lot of natural sunlight pouring though the window. Since this light is
coming from the front area of the store, often when Lola and Manni are facing
inward the lighting is only hitting their backs, which gives the viewer more of a
feel that it is actually robbery. This contrast in light also shows how the bedroom
scene is more of a forum to discuss feelings than say that of a grocery store is.
The third element of mise en scene is costume. Obviously the costume in the red
scenes is scarce. It appears that the only thing Lola and Manni are wearing is a sheet
that is covering them up. This red hue also puts them in a more natural position.

42. Animal Euthanasia Should Be Illegal Essay
Animals all around the US are being treated synthetically being stabbed with
needles or worse then, never see daylight again. Harmless animals are being
expected to find a family but tragically when unwanted are being euthanized (killed).
My whole life i ve always wanted endless amounts of cats now knowing that 71% of
them are being killed breaks me. Personally the regungant future of all pets not just
cats is gruesome. Think about the fate of these animals more people walk in to
admire them not realizing the shocking process that happens to most. The Euthanasia
of dogs and cats in the US should be banned for the untrained employees, mediocre
methods, and plunges into nothing.
Pet Euthanasia decrease the population of cats and dogs in the US. Statistics show
that 56% of dogs and 71% of cats that enter shelters and are euthanized. Can you
believe that we re putting animals in shelters to help them from the streets then most
of them are killed. Many people believe that this helps their population a little bit,

chambers are still prevalent for the killing of animals. Gas chambers are small,
pitch black, box where animals are placed where gas comes pouring into and
renders animals dead. Terrifying as this is some gas chambers are old so animals
must take another round of this or a ill,old animal can take much longer also having
its organs shut down while it s still consilience. There s not much known about the

analyse the factors that cause differences in the hazards posed by volcanoes around
the world (40 marks)
A hazard is a situation that poses a level of threat tolife, health, property or
environment. The level of hazard posed by different volcanoes can very greatly,
from a weak eruption with minimal impact that causes little damage, to a voilent and
life threatening explosion. Most of the sixty plus volcanoes that erupt each year are
low risk, however a combination of factors can cause a volcano to be a serious hazard.
The factors causing these variations will be explained in this essay.
The first factor that must be considered is the viscosity of the magma. This can
determine how powerful an eruption is and what shape the volcano ... Show more

Anpother factor that can have an impact on the level of hazard posed by a volcano
is the type of plate margin on which it occurs. Volcanoes occuring at constructive
plate boundaries are usually much less violent than those occuring at destructive
plate boundaries. This is because the magma produced by plates moving apart is
Basic, and therefoe has a low viscosity, allowing it to flow easily. The lavais
produced from a central vent or fissure and erupts regularly but not usually
violently. Also, constructive plate boundaries are often found under the sea and
create submarine volcanoes, such as along the Mid Atalntic ridge, so pose few
threats to humans. As a result, the hazards posed by volcanoes at constructive plat
eboundaries is relatively low. However, the subduction of one plate under another
at destrctive plat eboundaries can form an acidic magma chamber, due to the build
up of intense heat. Acidic magma is very viscous and resisitant to flow, meaning
that there is often a huge build up of pressure, which can result in very violent and
dangerous eruptions involving ash and pyroclastic flow. This can pose a a serious
hazard. Pyroclastic flowsa are extremely dense, containing toxic gases at very high
temperatures, and can move at speeds over 100km/h. The consequences of such an
unpredictable hazard can be extremely seruous

The Persians are losing the engagement, but the valiant horseman is clearly holding
his own; the nude figure, rather than representing a known Macedonian, is a brave
Graeco Macedonian warrior about the meet a noble death. In this description,
Waldemar Heckel describes one of the battle scenes on the Alexander Sarcophagus,
a piece which has much meaning in the study of Alexander the Great and the lives
of the ancient Greeks and Persians as a whole. The artifact has speculative ties to the
ancient kings Abdalonymus and Mazaeus. To begin with, this paper will discuss the
embellishment and making of the Sarcophagus, the locational and creator s
information, and the accuracy of the Wikipedia page on the sarcophagus. Following
this, the paper examines any information lacking in the Wikipedia article, facts
which could be added and enhanced, and the relations between Persians and Greeks
and how they impacted ancient Greek society. Moreover, this paper will examine the
Alexander Sarcophagus through the lens of information available to individuals
online, more specifically referring to its Wikipedia article. Analyzing the Wikipedia
article on the Alexander Sarcophagus shows a view of the artifact which contains
many flaws. To begin with, the Alexander Sarcophagus employed a variety of
methods in its making and ornamentation. In the first place, marble is the material the
item is created from and the item contains meticulously carved out subjects, with the

47. Prohibition Of Marijuana, Heroin, And Other Drugs
It is also possible that drug users are irrational decision makers and might not
understand the adverse long term effects and addictive properties. Prohibition should
reduce demand through legal penalties; however, since not all drug users are rational
choice makers, demand can increase by creating a forbidden fruit effect. The
consequences of increased use add to the complexity and costs of enforcement on
both drugusers and the general population. Drug users, trying to avoid the legal
consequences of their use, often times interact with non users in ways that are
harmful and costly. Additionally, non users are also impacted by increased taxes to
pay for the enforcement, by regulations to check for drugs that take time and are
inconvenient, and by becoming innocent bystanders that can get caught in the middle
of attempted arrests, often with deadly affects.
The long federal experiment in prohibition of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and other
drugs has given us unprecedented crime and corruption combined with a manifest
failure to stop the use of drugs or reduce their availability to children. The factor that
determines the amount of violence created by prohibition is the level of enforcement.
There are two main reasons for this. One, black markets only form when the
enforcement is very strict and, two, increasingly strict enforcement leads to violence
both in making arrests and as competing suppliers seek to capture market share. The
violence not only impacts those
48. Summary Of Daniel James Brown s The Boys In The Boat
I recently read Daniel James Brown s riveting, captivating, and inspiring nonfiction
story The Boys in the Boat. The author s message that was conveyed throughout the
book was that triumph can be achieved against the greatest of odds, and that nothing
is impossible when matched with the power of hard work and persistence. The Boys
in the Boat is the story of the rowingcrew of the University of Washington and their
incredible journey from a somber beginning in the Great Depression struck city of
Seattle to victory in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The story has a great focus on one
specific member of the team, Joe Rantz, and his own personal struggles, from losing
his one and only mother, to being virtually abandoned and left to live on his own at
a very young age. It also shines light on the never ending adversity the University of
Washington crew had to overcome as a whole. Both of these concepts, along with a
lot more, greatly contribute to the powerful message that was conveyed by the author.

He tried to use dreary and desolate words to describe the city of Seattle and its state
during the Great Depression to capture the mood of how hopeless everyone had
felt at the time, as well as how hard the boys physically had to work to earn just a
little bit of money. This was a great way for the author to express his message in my
opinion, because it showed just how difficult the conditions were for the boys from a
very early stage in the book, and made their eventual success at the Olympics much
more triumphant. By showing where the boys had started in their journey, with hard
work to get through the Great Depression, the author truly emphasized his message
that anything can be achieved, no matter how difficult it may
49. Unreliable Narrator In A Rose For Emily
A Rose for Emily is told by what I consider one of the most unreliable narrators that
I have read so for this semester. Throughout the story we are bombarded with the
narrator s opinion and the opinion of the towns folk of Jefferson however the
narrator seems to have no firsthand knowledge of Miss Emily and instead has
formed an opinion based entirely on hearsay. Despite this I would easily find myself
believing the story s this narrator tells and I would find it hard to believe that he
does not as well. An unreliable narrator is a narrator who intentionally or
unintentionally relates events in a subjective or distorted manner. The author usually
provides some indication early on in such stories the narrator is not to be completely
trusted (Kennedy 1459). Within the first paragraph we are shown that the narrator
has little knowledge of that in which he speaks and is simply relaying information
that he has been told by others. When Miss Emily Grierson... Show more content on

when Colonel Sartoris, the mayor he who fathered the edict that no Negro woman
should appear on the streets without an apron remitted her taxes (Kennedy 30). He
finishes this tale by showing us what happened when the next generation decided
that she did in fact have to pay taxes. They started by sending her letters which she
promptly ignored and finally decided that they would speak to her in person where
they were told in no uncertain terms See Colonel Sartoris. (Colonel Sartoris had
been dead almost ten years.) I have no taxes in Jefferson. Tobe! The Negro appeared.

50. Women s Role For A Management Job
Mothers are held to a higher standard than fathers may when it comes to proving
competence. Therefore, a Mother who is also a manager and takes time off such as
leave, leads to perceptions that she is not well suited for a management job,
According to Gill and Davidson (2001), long hours, frequent travel and attendance at
work related functions are essential for mothers who seek advancement in managerial
or professional jobs. These authors concluded that work and family identities were
incompatible in the minds of many professionals and employers. It is however
interesting to note that women and men are entitled to take time off work following
childbirth known as parental leavebut A study by (Suk, 2010) shows that women take
98 % of all unpaid parental or maternityleave, even though this leave is available to
both men and women which reinforces the stereotype of women being the main
caretaker of children, Additionally the provisions of these schemes aim to ensure that
the mother, can maintain her position in the labour market despite taking time off to
care for her child , however this is not necessarily the case as women are prone to
discrimination and stigmatization following childbirth. Parental leaveschemes vary in
their duration, and in their benefit provision, as the UK provides statutory
maternity leave of 56 weeks and provision of statutory maternity pay (SMP) which is
paid for up to 39 weeks and includes 90% of the employees average weekly earnings
before tax,
