Works Cited Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of "Works Cited Essay" can be both challenging and rewarding.
While it might seem straightforward at first, delving into the intricacies of proper citation,
formatting, and the inclusion of relevant sources can make the process quite complex. Crafting a
comprehensive works cited section requires attention to detail, a solid understanding of various
citation styles (such as APA, MLA, or Chicago), and a commitment to accuracy.
One of the primary difficulties lies in navigating the specific rules and guidelines associated with
each citation style. Each style has its own set of rules regarding the format of citations, how to
cite different types of sources, and the proper order and punctuation of elements within a
citation. Keeping track of these details while ensuring consistency throughout the entire essay
can be a demanding task.
Another challenge is the need for thorough research. A works cited essay typically requires a
substantial amount of research to find relevant and reliable sources that contribute to the
argument or topic of the essay. This involves not only finding appropriate sources but also
critically evaluating them for credibility and relevance.
Additionally, writers may encounter challenges when organizing and synthesizing the
information gathered from various sources. Creating a cohesive narrative that integrates these
sources seamlessly into the essay requires skillful writing and analytical thinking.
Despite these challenges, mastering the art of creating a well-crafted works cited essay is a
valuable skill. It not only showcases a writer's ability to conduct research and engage with
scholarly materials but also demonstrates a commitment to academic integrity and the proper
acknowledgment of sources.
In conclusion, while writing a works cited essay may present difficulties, the process ultimately
enhances a writer's academic skills and contributes to the overall quality of the essay. As you
embark on this journey, remember that resources and assistance are available for those who seek
them.

Similarities Between Frost And Heaney
Both poets, Frost and Heaney wrote in the pastoral tradition, drawing on the natural
landscape of Bellaghy, Co Derry and Frost and the farmland of New England,
Massachusetts. Respectively Frost is an influence on Heaney evident in the sound of
sense and Heaney borrowed the Frostian voice of rural vernacular with his use of
unadorned language and natural speech rhythms, giving both poets work a
conversational intimacy. Likewise, both poets used the everyday quotidian to
illuminate universal truths and to extrapolate deeper meanings from ordinary.
Similarly they used interactions with the natural world to produce profound
revelations about the past, mortality, human loss, childhood, the creative process,
journeys and self discovery. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hawaiian Pizza Research Paper
Pizza is an American staple. Families and friends all gather around the circle to
consume one of the most recognizable dishes in society. However, pizza is not yet
perfect. The greatest form of pizza sits on the fringes, but it is often excluded from
the idea Americans have of pizza. While it may seem strange or unfamiliar, evidence
shows that Hawaiian pizza, defined as having pineapple and ham toppings, is the
most superior form of pizza.
To begin, pineapple is great for the economy. According to one study, the world
pineapple market has been expanding rapidly for the last twenty years (Hossain,
2016, p. 11445). Clearly, this makes pineapples a safe investment for U.S. businesses
as growth has occurred for a lengthy time and consumers ... Show more content on

To start, all of the ingredients in a Hawaiian pizza are cooked. According to a study
done by Mouritsen (2016), heat treatment leads to [the] gelatinization of starchy
carbohydrates and denaturation of proteins, meaning there are easier accessible
nutrients and more energy (more calories) in the dish (p. 2). All of the ingredients in
Hawaiian pizza are cooked, including the pineapple, and this releases more of the
nutrients in pineapple. As a result, Hawaiian pizza is more nutritious than in dishes
where the pineapple is raw. Because cooked food is more beneficial to human
growth and development, humans evolved senses that could steer us towards food
that is rich in calories and rich in proteins (Mouritsen, 2016, p. 3). In other words,
cooked food is more appetizing and flavorful to humans. Furthermore, the food that
contained the most nutrition became the most appetizing, and the primary tastes [of]
sweet and umami do exactly that, respectively (Mouritsen, 2016, p. 3). Humans are
hard wired to enjoy the taste of umami and sweetness, especially together, as it
represents high energy and nutrition. This makes Hawaiian pizza superior because
not only is it extremely nutritious, but it is also the most appealing combination of
flavors, with umami flavor from the tomato and ham, and sweet flavor from the
pineapple. On top of that, umami also enters a synergistic relationship with sweet
taste; in other words, the presence of umami in a dish can enhance the sweetness
substantially (Mouritsen, 2016, p. 8). Without the addition of sugar or artificial
sweeteners, the combination of ham and pineapple makes Hawaiian pizza more
sweet. In conclusion, Hawaiian pizza has enhanced flavor in almost every category of
taste, all with only the simplest ingredients, and without added salt, butter, or
Comparing The Genesis Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Throughout the Genesis Flood, Atrahasis Flood and the Epic of Gilgamesh flood,
there are many different ways to interpret the different views of The Flood. These
different narratives in these stories have their own explanation on how this myth
took place and the different beliefs that occurred during this flood. The way you
portray each narrative is based on what exactly your beliefs are. When comparing
the Genesis Flood narrative to that of the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, there are
many similar symbols throughout both narratives. In the Genesis version of the
flood, God had chosen to send the flood because the humankind he had created was
evil and he saw their wickedness. For my par, I am going to bring a good of waters
on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life;
everything that is on the earth shall die (Genesis 6:18). This excerpt from the
narrative shows that one God had chosen to send the flood to destroy all
humankind that he had originally created. Just like this narrative, the Gilgamesh
Flood narrative, a God by the name of Enlil orders a flood to destroy humankind.
Decided that the great gods should make a flood (Gilgamesh XI 109). This quote
states how that a flood was to be sent for the city of Shuruppak. In the Genesis
narrative there was a righteous man by the name of Noah that was chosen to build
the ark. Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark and cover it
inside and out with a pitch (Genesis

Walt Disney is a well known name in today s society. Walt Disney once stated, You
can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world but it
requires people to make the dream a reality (Sparks, 2007). Marty Sklar, Vice
Chairman and principal creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering was quoted

One way Disney utilizes the communication from its employees is by using a 120
questions survey about management performance. These surveys convey if the is
effective communication between management and employees. After the surveys are
completed, staff meetings are held to discuss staff concerns and resolutions are
discussed. These meetings are usually held within three weeks to show employees
that Disney is concerned about the welfare of their employees and to help satisfy
them. Walt Disney Company believes that every cast member and staff have valuable
information that can be shared through ongoing communication efforts. As we can
see, communication is as important as the company s values are (Sparks, 2007). As
with any company, strong beliefs, values and communication are needed in order for
a company to succeed. Founded in 1923, the Walt Disney Company has maintained
these strong beliefs, values and communication needed to ensure its success today.
The success in employee training with the Disney Institute has led to other companies
seeking their help (Sparks, 2007). This just strengthens the fact that Walt Disney
Company has never wavered from its mission to be one of the world s leading
producers and providers of entertainment.

Television As A Dominant Theme On Mass Sitcoms
Friends is an American television sitcom, which was remembered as one of the most
in the television history. It marked a change in American culture and also stood out
that a culture where the image of youth has become dominant. The prior sitcoms were
aiming to focus on the live of nuclear families that father and mother were the center
and knew the best, which represented the generation of Baby Boomer. In contrast,
Friends centered on the characters own lives with angst, ambition, fluid notion of
family, and youth culture. It was considered a dominant theme on mass sitcoms,
which reflected a mainstream trend in the society. A generation X represented that
the young people would not be better of than its parents.
As society developed rapidly, mass media became integrated into the American
household. Television was the most significant invention in the 1950s, sharping
American political life and creating a new advertising method of advertising (Out of
Many p.725). Television became a crucial tool for advertising presidential candidates.
The 1960 election campaign featured the first ever televised presidential debates
between John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon. There were about eighty five
million audiences who watched these debates, demonstrating the sweeping influence
of television. In the 1950s, only about nine percent of Americans had a television.
However, approximately 90 percent of American households owned a television. The

students received a personalized feedback packet that contained different data such
as their readiness to change, their alcohol consumption, and other things like their
belief about alcohol consumption (Amaro, 2010, p. 358). In order to ensure proper
intervention procedures nurses were sat in on by other nurses to ensure proper

Wind In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
In the allegorical novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of boys get
in a plane crash on a deserted island and it becomes the ultimate race for survival.
The boys decided to vote for a chief, but there is discord because everyone doesn t
respect his leadership. The events that follow result in two factions which changes the
island into a tense battle between opposing groups, that work against each other, and
result in tragic consequences. The elements of nature including windair and humidity
reveal the shift between cooperation and fighting. These elements change to reveal
the author s message message that a crisis brings out the insignificance of mankind
and his or her resourcefulness. Wind, air and humidity change from calm and
peaceful which reflect the boy s initial feeling on the island, to stronger winds which
reflects the disagreements between the boys , then to powerful thunderstorms storms,
rocks crashing and huge gusts of winds that reflects the struggle for life and death .
Even though wind, air and humidity don t seem initially seem significant, reading
below the surface, these elements of nature provide foreshadowing of further events.
In the beginning of Lord of the Flies, wind air and humidity have roles in setting the
mood and tone that change throughout the book. Although the boys were nervous
and scared when they first got on the island, they start to appreciate the scenery and
enjoy the beauty of nature and it allowed a little

Ayatollah Khomeini changed his outlook on nuclear power in 1984. Iran began
seeking international help from states like Pakistan, China and Russia to build its
nuclear program to provide a base for a military usage of nuclear power. The United
States tried to curtail Iran from gaining such help from different international partners
but failed in stopping other states in assisting Iran in becoming closer to nuclear
weapons capabilities. Russia gave key technology to help build the Arak heavy water
reactor, China gave Iran a large quantity of uranium hexafluoride (UF6), or

technology used to enrich uranium. Iran s current nuclear program consists of
complete nuclear fuel capabilities. To include uranium mining, milling, conversion,
and enrichment facilities. Iran has the ability to produce highly enriched uranium for

Iran s current nuclear program is made up of 20,000 gas centrifuges at 3 major
facilities. There is a large nuclear power reactor operating in Iran, and two more are
planned for construction. The country also has a major program developing uranium
enrichment, which was concealed for many years. Iran is now limiting its enrichment
related activities and ceasing its work on heavy water related projects, under an
internationally agreed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Most enriched uranium
has now been removed from the country.

Introduction
Rust, also known as iron (II) oxide, occurs when iron is exposed to oxygen and
moisture for a long period of time. This reaction is called oxidation. Oxidation can
occur on old cars, iron, exhaust and even the burning of fossil fuels. When wood,
natural gas, or coal burns, the oxygen in the air combines with the carbon and
hydrogen in the fuel to produce water and the oxides of carbon.(Prentice Hall
Chemistry The Study of Matter p.599.) Rust may seem like an average everyday
phenomenon, however many things we cannot see take place as the rust begins to

Despite its destructive characteristics it can be stopped by acids or bases that will
dissolve the rust off, but if you leave any bare iron outside exposed to heat and water
rust will occur without doubt. After the rusting process has occurred iron can either
lose its magnetic ability or weaken it. ( Rate of Rust Formation , van.physics.illinois)
SC2 Molar mass of Rust and indicators of chemical properties.
The molar mass of rust is 159.69 g*molв€’1 . The chemical formula is Fe2O3.
Chemical properties in rust are indicated by the change of color, smell, and
production of a solid. Rust as a solid can appear on many household items such as
cars, bikes, and tools. Basically, anything left outside can get rained on, and the
rain will leave the item wet, and overtime rust will appear. Rust has a brown red
orange color. Rust has a smell similar to blood. 4Fe+3O2+6H20 в†’ 4Fe(OH)3 is
the formula for the rusting of iron. So basically, do not leave items that you care for
outside where they can get rained on because the rust will ruin it.

The Growth And Development Of A Free Market
INTRODUCTION
What development means depends on how the rich nations feel, Environment is no
exception to this rule . (Sachs, 1992, p.26)
Ever since the 1970s, capitalism has entered into the era of neoliberal development.
Simply put, capitalism is an economic system that propagates private and or corporate
ownership trough investments. Private decisions, prices, production and distribution
of goods are determined by the competition in a free market. All of this in turn
decides the path of aforementioned investments.
Neoliberalism is the academic theory behind the development model being currently
pursued for economic growth and development. This model of development
propagates economic policies that promote a free flow of trade and ... Show more

It is then followed by of analyzing the efforts made by international agencies and
governments to address environmental issues. The analysis of these international
/global projects will help in answering whether so far capitalism has been successful
in addressing environmental concerns or not. Taking a Marxist perspective, the
essay emphasizes that while awareness has been raised exponentially about the
dangers of environmental deterioration, capitalism has a long way to go before it
can be called green . On a spectrum of black to bright green, capitalism is currently
swimming in the murky depths of brown. For an environmentally sound world,
capitalism itself may need to be replaced with a different economic system.
THERE IS NO ONE PERSPECTIVE TO ENVIRONEMTAL CRISES
Core ideologies dominating the environmental debate revolve around neoliberalism,
Marxism and environmentalism. All of these ideologies are umbrella terms for they
bifurcate into many sub categories or approaches to environmental crises.
While many believe that Marx and later on Engels, had nothing useful to say about
the environment since their critique of capitalism was believed to be limited to class
struggle and exploitation of labour under a capitalist class. However, Marx (1964,
1970, 1977, 1981) and Engels (1973, 1979) have, perhaps, the longest historical
connection to environmentalism. For the longest time, environmental socialist did
not derive any clear arguments from Marxist
The Republican Party Platform Of 1860
As the Republican Party Platform of 1860 came into existence, there were
situations that occurred in the United States that were inevitable. The civil war was
inevitable, just as the many other occurrences that happened and were yet to happen.
Without the Republicans arising in that time and creating a platform to abide by, life
in
the United States would have erupted. The platform was created to secure the union
and
to stop succession by the south and to abolish slavery. Another issue the Republicans
brought forward to society to view was that majority of what the Constitution stated,
was
being neglected or against in the times before 1860. They further developed a
principle
that will forever, permanently, cease into existence, which will demand its peace and
achievement in the United States.
The act of disunion predominantly went unnoticed to the Republican Party. By
the act of sectional divisions in the Constitutional Union Party, it presented in
significance of denying a free government. Amongst the other parties, Democratic
members advocated threats of disunion. However, the Republicans did not evidently
join
in these threats of disunion and feel that they should be applauded for this because the
threats were vital to the central government that was yet to exist. Through this
occurrence, the Republicans did not want to separate because they believed that the
denial of a free government was a part of treason. They wanted the United

In concentration camps, Jews were given their own portion of food which

With SS men controlling the fate of your life day and night, they can do anything

Anshelm´s Proof of God´s Existence
The question about the existence of God or, more generally speaking, of a
supernatural entity that steers the course of the world, is probably as old as humanity
itself. Many great philosophers were concerned with this basic and yet so important
question which remains to be a controversial issue to this day! In the following I will
commit myself to the above mentioned question by firstly reconstructing AnselmВґs
proof of GodВґs existenceand secondly considering his position in the light of the
critique put forward by Gaunilo, Aquinas and Kant.

conceived not to be and thus must exist. Put it another way, it is simply impossible
for God not to exist, which even refers back to Boethius (480 AD 524 AD) reasoning,
which Anselm had studied extensively. God differs from humans, animals or any
other non living subjects in that their existence is always contigent on something or
someone else. Thus, a child is contigent on his parents; if the mother had not
conceived it, it would never have come to existence. God, however, is not contigent
on anyone or anything else but himself!
Of course, as it is the case with most of the sensational publishments throughout
human history, it did not take long until AnselmВґs ontological argument was
subjected to criticism. Up to now many famous philosophers have published papers
refuting AnselmВґs argument and questioning its validity, amongst others Gaunilo,
Aquinas and Immanuel Kant.
One of the first objections documented, was put forward by Gaunilo of Marmoutiers
(11th century). Although Gaunilo was a firm believer in God, he did not agree on
AnselmВґs method to prove GodВґs existence and hence played the devilВґs
advocate to demonstrate the flawed reasoning in AnselmВґs argument. Gaunilo tried
to show up the problem with the logic of the first argument by
Max Weber Sociology Of Religion
Along with Durkheim and Marx, Weber was one of the most influential thinkers in
the foundation of the field of sociology, Weber namely in establishing the subject of
the sociology of religion. Weber s mother was a devout Calvinist, while his father
was involved in politics and intellectual pursuits. In addition to his vast education in
many fields, Weber was also a jurist, and a teacher at the Universities of Berlin and
Heidelberg. Max Weberfavoured a hermeneutical approach to studying religion
(McCutcheon 2007, p.188) in a method known as Verstehen. This refers to wishing
to understand the deeper significance of something, in this case religion, by
studying it from the perspective and experience of another, and the meaning they
then attach to it. Since religious beliefs affect people s behaviour, Weber believed
that religions could have profound effects on societies and their development
(Connolly 1999, p.199). While Weber, like Marx, saw religion as emerging from
suffering, he had a more positive attitude towards it, seeing it as having benefits.
He saw religion as being something which gave humans meaning in life and a way
to respond to suffering (Herling 2015, p.74). An example the Christian doctrine of
original sin can serve as an explanation for evil in the world, thereby offering a
solution for people to reconcile and cope with their suffering in the world and their
lives (Weber 1965, p.139). Unlike Marx, he did not see it as being an inherently

The Han Dynasty is the largest dynasty since the Zhou Dynasty, although this is not

we are living in has learned much from the dynasties before it and used them to
shape our civilization today. In the Han Dynasty we use our language, beliefs, and
government all together for a successful system to live in. These three things are
crucial to our individual lives and why Chinawill retain power for many more

Compare And Contrast Percheron And Quarter Horses
Percherons and Quarter horses have copious similarities and differences. The
physical features of the Quarter horse and the Percheron contrast dramatically.
Both breeds of horses have several similar jobs and a few different jobs. The
weight, height and life expectancy of the Percheron versus the Quarter horse vary.
While Quarter horses come in bounteous colors, Percherons come in a several eye
catching colors, and each breed also has a different blood type, or in other words,
temperament. Both Percherons and Quarter horses can have several different
health problems. The history and breed development of the Percheron contrasts
dramatically from that of the Quarter horse, with only a few similarities.
Percherons and Quarter horses each have different physical features. Both the
Percheron and the Quarter horse have straight profiled heads. While the Quarter
horse has a short and small refined head, the Percheron has an exceptionally broad
forehead, small ears, and large eyes. Both Percherons and Quarter horses have very
deep and broad chests. Although the Quarter horse has strong legs and flat knees,
the Percheron has clean and heavily muscled feet and legs. Percherons and quarter
horses share several of the same jobs and a few different ones. Both Percherons and
Quarter horses are used for dressage, jumping, and racing. Both breeds are also used
for general riding. While Quarter horses are used for rodeos and hunting, Percherons

Internet Addiction: Cybersex and Porn Vs. a Dependency on Video Games
Abstract
Within our modern world, the notion that human beings are distancing themselves
farther and farther from inter personal communication cannot be closer to the truth. In
today s world, people utilize technology to make things easier, and to better
understand the world surrounding the individuals. What ever happened to the
relationship between a single person and their peers when knowledge came to be a
defining factor? In this research paper, it will be discussing what an addiction to this
technology does to a person. It will be investigating the differences and comparisons
between two forms of an internet addiction: Cybersex and porn, and a dependency
on video games. It will also be considering what these two addictions do and how
they affect the lives of both single people, and parents who have adopted
responsibilities within their households by declaring themselves part of a family unit.
Summary
Internet addiction is a new age phenomenon that not all people are active in the
modern world fully understand. According to (Kuss Griffiths 2015) internet
addiction has been conceptualized as behavioural addiction involving the excessive
use of the online applications and leading to detrimental impacts on the affected
individuals lives (2). To many people think or even say, it is simply playing on the

Radio Frequency Identification Chips Essay
Radio Frequency Identification Chips
The Food and Drug Administration has considered approving radio frequency
identification chips or RFID chips that are implanted under the skin that will hold
information about the person that the chip is implanted into. Would you like to have
all of you personal information about your entire life on a tiny computer chip, the
size of a grain of rice, implanted under your skin? The FDA should not approve the
implantation of RFID chips in humans. First, the problem with RFID chips will be
discussed and second, the possible solutions to RFID chips will be discussed.
The problem with implanting the RFID chips, or the VeriChip, is privacy. Every
detail of your life is defined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the information on these chips is personal and private. The information that is
put on these chips should be decided on by the person who is having it implanted in
them. As of right now, every bit of your information goes on this chip without a
question of what you would want and what you would not want on it. The only way
to keep some information off of the chip is if the chip runs out of memory. According
to Lou Dolinar of the Orlando Sentinel a newspaper based out of Orlando, Florida,
published in October of 2004, the chips have very limited memory. These chips are
limited in memory because they are adapted from a product the company sells to
track lost pets and livestock.
Even if the security was stronger, there are still problems with the chips after they
have been implanted. According to Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the
Electronic Privacy Information Center, in a 2004 article in The New York Times,
after the chip is placed under the skin, it cannot be removed. If the chip cannot be
removed, than how can all of your information be updated? Your information changes
almost everyday and if it cannot be updated, you may be twenty one inches long for
the rest of your life.
The FDA should regulate the implantation of Radio Frequency Identification Chips.
The FDA should allow the people to decide what information goes on the chip.

The Bible Is True And Not Myths
Archaeology has verified that the bible is true but how? First, archeology has
confirmed the biblical stories are true and not myths, as the world believed, because
of ancient sites and civilizations discovered. Second, manuscripts that were found and
translated has shown people today how the people back in the biblelived and worked.
Last but not least, archeology has shown where major events, like battles, have gone
on and during what year, they happened. According to Archeology and the Old
Testament, the book of Judges took place around the Iron Ageperiod, which was 1200
586 BC. Excavations have provided some useful information about daily life in
ancient Israelduring Judges, including the land, climate and people. However,
before we learn about how people lived their daily lives in Israel during the Iron
Ages, we should learn about the geography of Israel. The land of Israel stretches
from Dan in the North to Beersheba in the South and from the Mediterranean Sea
in the west to the Transjordan in the east. Israel s landscape is divided into five
main regions and even though the regions are in the same place they all receive
different amounts of rain, which produce different crops. The first region, the
coastal plain, goes along the Mediterranean coast to Rosh HaNiqura, receives about
25 to 16 inches of rain which is a great place to grow grain. The second region, is
the central mountain range that goes from Galilee to Negev Highlands; this region

Jefferson Davis And The American Civil War
Jefferson Davis lived from (1808 1889) and was a Mexican War hero, a U.S.
senator from Mississippi, and U.S. secretary of war and president of the
Confederate States of America for the duration of the American Civil War (1861
1865). Prior to the start of the war, Davis had argued against secession, but when
Mississippi seceded he resigned from the U.S. Senate. In February 1861 he was
elected president of the Confederacy states. Davis faced difficulties throughout the
war as he struggled control and manage the Southern war effort, maintain control the
Confederate economy and keep a new nation together and united. Davis often
arduous and contentious personality led to conflicts with other politicians as well as
his own military officers. In May 1865, several weeks after the Confederate
surrender, Davis was captured, imprisoned and charged with treason, but never
tried.Davis had an incredible and impressive political career before he became
president of the Confederate states of America, but he was appointed, not elected, to
many of the offices he held in his antebellum career. His limited experience and
lack of study with electoral politics he was a handicap to his presidency, and,
perhaps more important, he lacked the personal qualities that made Abraham a
successful president. Raised on the Mississippi frontier, Davis s life was shaped and
molded by his brother Joseph, who was twenty four years his senior. Joseph Davis

What Is The Concentration Of Salt Concentration In
Osmosis
Based on the data, the 1% salt solution had the least change in mass. Its mass only
went down by 0.1 grams. The 5% and 10% solutions caused the mass to decrease,
while 0% salt solution was the only one that lead to an increase in the mass. From
these results, it can be concluded that as the salt concentration get higher, the potato s
mass starts to decrease. When there is barely any salt in the solutionthe mass will
increase. When comparing the turgidity of the cells a similar type of pattern emerged.
As the salt concentrationgot higher, the potato became flaccid. However, at lower salt
concentrations the potato remained crisp. An increase in the salt concentrations
ended up changing the turgidity of the potatoes and making them flaccid.
These results arose because of the different solutions the cells were put. When the
potato mass, decreased the cells of the potatoes were in an hypertonic solution
because the solute concentration outside the cells is greater than in the cell so
water will flow out of the cells to maintain equilibrium. Since there was osmosis of
water out of the cell it lost weight. This also explains why cells appeared flaccid.
The loss of water can cause it to loose its shape and shrink A source mentions, in
hypertonice soltions, water rushes out of the cell, and the cell shrinks away from the
rigid [cell] wall, resulting in plasmolysis (http://www.phschool.com/science
/biology_place/biocoach/biomembrane1/isotonic.html). The opposite happened in the
0% salt solution. The potato gained mass because the solute concentrations was
greater inside the cell than the outside which caused water to move into the cell. A
microscopic view reveals the vacuoles of plant cells appear noticeably larger (https:/
/sciencing.com/happens hypertonic hypotonic isotonic environments 8624599.html )
The water intake kept it study and crisp. .However, too much water could have
caused many potato cells to burst. Lastly, the 1% solution was isotonic to cells
because its mass remained about the same. In an isotonic solution the water
movement in and out of the cells is balanced to there is no net gain, making it stay
the same. We had a 0.1 gram decrease but, that could be due measuring errors. In fact,

Stress Factors
Stress can be defined as the feeling felt in time of difficulty, fear and when facing
challenging situations. Stress is a feeling in which a person feels like they cannot
cope with a certain situation. Stress comes in many forms and may be physical,
psychological or emotional. Factors that cause stress are known as stressors.
Events that occur in a person s life may cause feelings of stress, which may consist of:
Large changes
Overwhelming responsibility
Lack of change in one s life
Facing overwhelming pressure.
Stress may not only be caused by a single event but it may be caused by an
accumulation of more minor challenges which makes it more difficult to pin point
what is actually causing a person stress.

the historian used lots of evidence from witnesses to create his story. Victor Kugler

day changed their lives. This is why they had exact recollections of everything that
happened on that day. Harry Paape relied on evidence from witnesses so his story is

China Has A Long And Rich History
China has had a long and rich history that is not devoid of its fair share of
revolutions and political upheavals. It is these changes that have increasingly shaped
the country into becoming one of the major economic powers of the current decade.
This has also given the country a greater standing when considering the political
influence that the country now enjoys in the global environment. One may consider
the period that span three decades from 1890 as having the greatest impact in the
trajectory that modern day has taken in the past and is going to take in the future.
This period saw a number of very significant changes both in ideology and belief that

In the consideration of the period between 1890s to the 1920s there are three major

economic environments of china during this period. This will include an analysis of
the environments inherent characteristics at the time, the role these characteristics

This theme is mainly cognizant of the fact that there was a great deal of foreign
activity in china during this time and that improvements in transport means had given
many Chinese people the opportunities to travel far and wide, aside from their

these three factors will largely be as a unit as there were great interplays of
Summary Of The Short Story Going On Meet The Man By...
AFAS 101 In the short story Going to Meet the Man by James Baldwin, we see
how psychological conditioning at a young age turned an innocent minded boy
into a full bodied racist. In this short story is filled cover to cover with extensive
racism and prejudices, the reader is invited to see how apathetic a crowd of people
can be in the face of a lynching. Through a mob mentality, a young Jesse transforms
from a young man with African descendant friends, to someone today defined as a
classic bigot. The largest attribution to Jesse s hatred towards blacks can be found
in his environment. In a post Civil War south, there is a great deal of anger and
bitterness towards northern ideals. When Jessy interrogates one of the ringleaders
of the singing debacle at the local prison, he tells the ringleader, You are going to

What Are The Pros And Cons Of The Internet
The Internet, a Good Invention or a Bad One At All?

goods and services to exchange among the world (Morozov, 2010). There is no

developed countries. People cannot live without it because of its wide usage.
However, the Internet causes some negative impacts to our life as well as to our
society. In order to discuss whether the Internet helps in developing a better life to

will conclude that the Internet is a modern trend to provide a better life to us as well

Ethical Standards By The APA For Psychological Research
I agree with Jeff Probst about what he considers to be endlessly entertaining . The
producers create conflict and stress for the people in the show to see how they will
get themselves out of the situation. I would enjoy being a producer of that show
because of the entertainment one could have with messing with the contestants. I
was shocked that Jonny Fairplay would lie about his grandmother dying just so he
could get the reward challenge. I noticed that the show picks the contestants who
have troubles solving problems, will explode if something goes wrong, or the
unreasonable people. They do not pick contestants that will think through something
thoroughly to make the correct decision because that is not as enjoying for viewers.
I do think that the ethical standard by the APA for psychological research should be
applied to reality based television shows. I say this because I do not think sexual
harassment should be aloud on the show. Physical moves or verbal or nonverbal that
is sexual in nature should not be permitted on the show because that should never be

Personal Statement For MS In Mechanical Engineering
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Starting from the first steam engine, Aeolipile to today s Mars rover, the
transcendental pervasion of mechanical engineering has shaped the life on this planet
as we know it today. This progress seems never ending as the new technologies are
engendering ever new complex challenges. Therefore, merging of fundamental
research with real world applications is demanding now more than ever. As a student
of Mechanical Engineering, I am well aware of these facts and have decided to
pursue an active career in cutting edge research. I am strongly motivated to undertake
graduate studies in order to pursue an MS in Mechanical Engineering, which, I
believe, will prepare me for my further study at the doctoral level.
I completed my undergraduate studies in November, 2016 from Islamic University
of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. My
undergraduate study at IUT gave me the exposure to existing knowledge in my field

Maria Voss Voss 1 Mrs. Flowers 8 October 2013 Arguing A Position Paper World
Benefits When Buying Local Global warming, pollution, and dwindling fossil fuels
will always be the conservational problems if nobody starts to buy local grown
foods. Katherine Spriggs, author of the essay, On Buying Local, explains how having
a large variety of foods at all times of the year is not worth the negative effects in the
communities and their economies (Spriggs 92). As a community, many
environmental challenges are being faced; Buying local will help bring advantages to

However, agriculture is the central issue. While pesticides are being used to keep
crops alive, a benefit to farmers, the natural ecosystem is not exactly experiencing
the same effect; the ecosystem is being destroyed. An effective way agriculturists
can improve on decreasing the amount of pesticides is to use continuous
production, where it is reusing the fields, without wasting and hurting them.
Another important environmental issue is the waste of energy and fuel used
when transporting crops across the country. Semi trucks consume a large amount
of fuel and give off a large amount of pollutants when driving long distances.
Spriggs includes that interstate trucking is expensive both financially and
ecologically (Spriggs 97). Buying locally would eliminate the waste of energy and
fuel from driving city to city. The food is also handled more when having to be
transported across the states. The less hands we have on our food, the cleaner it is.
Besides the environmental factors, another point would be that small farms benefit
greatly when consumers buy locally grown foods. Small, locally owned farms Voss
3 usually are more reliable and consumers are willing to pay a larger sum of money
for the goods. The produce is usually fresher and comes from a smaller line of
handling compared to that from larger farms. Small farmers focus their farming
techniques on being sustainable, which includes reducing the use of
The Practice Of Travelling For Health And Medical Reasons
The practice of travelling for health and medical reasons has a long history. Even the
ancient civilizations recognized the therapeutic effects of mineral thermal springs and
sacred temple baths. For example, the Sumerians constructed health complexes
around hot springs more than four thousand years ago, which included temples with
flowing pools. Ancient Romans built resorts with thermal healthspas, and therapeutic
temples thrived during the Greek domain. Ancient Greeks were known for their
travels to the sanctuary of the healing god, Asklepios, believed to reveal remedies for
different ailments in the dreams.

Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, USA).
In the nineteenth century, wealthy tuberculosis sufferers from Europe often travelled
to (and lived) in south west United States, seeking different climate conditions in
order to improve their health. That kind of behavior arguably predates modern day
lifestyle retirement and second home migration for similar reasons of extending
quality of life.
However, traveling with the intention of receiving treatments, such as cosmetic
surgery, dental care and other complex procedures is a relatively new phenomenon,
having begun only several decades ago throughout the world.
Asia has a history of medical tourism as well. Japan s affluence of natural mineral
springs (also known as onsen) has represented a favourite health retreat for centuries,
and they are also a central feature of Japanese tourism today. These springs are
known to have healing powers derived from its mineral content. Different warrior
clans also took notice of these springs and used them to heal wounds, alleviate pain
and recuperate from their battles.

wherein constant streams of medical travelers and spiritual students flocked to pursue
the benefits of these alternative healing methods. India procured reputation as the

Baby Boomers Book Report
The search for information on a vast generation known as baby boomers, was
quick and easy. The History Channel, once again provided attractive information
such as text and audio clips. Nine months following the end of World War II, a new
type of generation kicked off. Prior to this generation the population increased
linearly, but now it was growing at an exponential rate. This large generation was
praised for preventing recessions but may possibly cause problems in social
welfare in the future. The statistics and story on the generation of baby boomers is
provided by both the website and on page 807 of America: A Concise History.

Baby boomers made up approximately 40% of the U.S. population in 1964.
Additionally, only 8% of women choose not to have children compared to the 15%
just 10 years prior. Lastly, the book mentions a rise in children, but the website gives
the number of a 20% increase in children between the year 1946 and 1945. While
unimportant, another interesting fact during that time period is that Time magazine
designated in 1966, that everyone under the age of 25 would be Persons of the Year.
Lastly, the baby boomers held very different cultural values compared their parents.
Many think of the boomer generation as hippies and rebels. However, this generation
was even more split than their parent s generation. A larger percentage of the boomer
generation was in favor of the Vietnam War compared to their parents. This
interesting fact is important because this is still evident in today s society. Betty
Friedan was the most interesting person found on the website. While mentioned in
America: A Concise History, her influence on the rebirth of the feminist movement
never dulls. In her book, The Feminine Mystique, Friedan describes the difficulties of
women in the suburbs. She inspired women to desire for a more fulfilling
The World Of World War 2
World War 2 was one of the most catastrophic events in human history. With
millions dying in very few years, the destruction has left a scar on nations that is
still visible in the present day. One of the most terrifying nations back during the
days of war was Japan. Their culture promoted war, fighting, and being as ruthless
as possible, causing them to be an extreme threat to world peace. The military
looked into ancient myths about the Japanese, and the Emperor in particular, as
they were said to be directly related to the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu Omikami. The
nation and military of Japan wanted to bring racial and spiritual purity into the
world, and as Laurence Rees put it, The Japanese had been brainwashed for
centuries . The war in the Japanese front took longer to end, and many speculate
that if the United States had not created the atom bomb, the war in Asia would
have lasted many more years. The answers for this prolongation is rooted deep in
Japanese culture and history. There are many strange examples and acts from the
Japanese military during World War 2. For example, not a single soldier would ever
surrender as POW. Due to rules by the military and the indoctrination of beliefs,
soldiers would refuse to accept defeat. This had roots in the government as well, and
the Emperor of Japan along with the rest of the government refused surrender even
when defeat was apparent. The interpretation of Japanese social, military, and
historical culture caused individual
Cause And Effect Of Bullying In School
Dr.Martin Luther King Jr states that In the end we will remember not the words of
our enemies but the silence of our friends this quote develops the idea that friends
standing up and speaking up for the victim is more valuable than silence in the
moment and they re comfort when no one else is present. Bullyingin school affects
the students as it may cause distractions or long term problems among children.
Depending on how bystanders respond, they can either contribute to the problem
or the solution when it comes to the initial conflict. Some people genuinely do not
know what to do to help, others fear the bully will seek them out next as a target.
To really help in a bullying encounter you have to know what responsibility you
have in the situation. Bystanders may not think they are in the wrong for leaving
the conflict alone but really they are just as much part of the problem as the bully
themselves. The barriers to intervening are both real and powerful for young
people. For youths it is a very real possibility that doing the proper thing for
someone else will equate to doing the wrong thing for their own social status. When
bystanders intervene they can stop bullying within 10 seconds over 50% of the time
(bscsd.org bystanders). To empower kids to speak up and stand up they must be
taught how to effectively assess the situation at hand and recognize if it is safe to say
something themselves or better inform and adult about it. As well as teaching them

Thermohaline Ocean Circulation Case Study
1.Thermohaline Ocean circulation are the ocean currents that are directed by
density. The density in the water are altered by two factors; temperature and
salinity. These factors emerge from the heating and cooling of the ocean s surface.
The production of sea ice and evaporation increases salinity, while precipitation,
runoff and sea ice melting reduce salinity. 2.If it is true that the glaciers are melting,
then the ocean water in the Atlantic will become less dense and warm. There would
be an extreme increase of fresh water. The freshwater entering the atlantic will dilute
the salinity causing the water to become less dense. In the atlantic sea ice is being
shifted back by the warmer surface currents. This causes a cut back of reflection...

Heat is building up in these regions due to the deterioration of a convection cell in
the Weddell sea. The temperature difference between Antarctica and the Tropical
ocean regions has caused an raise of winds around antarctica and an expansion of
the subtropical belt. This has also intensified the tropical convection. Combined
these factors have also worked together to boost the water cycle, intensify high
pressure spaces in the subtropic, and strengthen trade winds. 5.Marine ecosystems
could face the collapse of vertical mixing if THC collapses. This would be
detrimental because vertical mixing brings up vital nutrients for the depths of the
ocean. So therefore if it collapsed phytoplankton could suffer. Also it will disrupt

Distal Radius Fracture Essay
Diagnosis Fractured distal radius and ulna
Etiology:
The primary cause of a fracture is trauma from car accidents, sports injuries and falls.
The trauma may be a direct blow to the bone or an indirect force from muscle
contractions or pulling on the bone. Other factors that may contribute to fractures
include: vigorous exercise, malnutrition, genetic factors, and osteoporosis. The most
common cause of a distal radius fracture is falling onto an outstretched arm
(Ignatavicius Workman, 2013). Wrist fractures of the distal radius are common and
may present special problems for the surgeon and therapist. There are several
categories of distal radius fractures, but the Colles fracture of the distal radius is the
most common injury to the wrist and may result in limitations in wrist flexion and
extension, as well as forearm pronation and supination, resulting from the
involvement of the distal radioulnar joint (Early, p.613).
Signs and Symptoms:
The signs and symptoms of a distal radial and ulnar fracture could include: pain,
edema, contractures, deformity, protruding bone, and decreased sensation. In addition,

Analysis Of Diction And Figurative Language Hemingway
Alcohol makes the human mind short sighted. I witnessed my own mother attempt
to drink her problems away until I was no longer one of them. She cared more
about her next gulp of the sinful syrup than her children. Alcohol gives us an ego
boost and a feeling that subsides the negative situation we are dealing with, including
sadness. In this passage, Hemingway expresses the pessimistic feel through his
imagery, diction, and figurative language. The diction in this excerpt displays a
monotonous mood through personal point of view. The characters survive in the
ambience of a melancholy moment. The sour smell of drunkenness and bodies
conceives the idea of low spirit the area has. The characters seem to not be able to

Questions:
A.) What is the purpose of mitosis?
The purpose of mitosis is to create or produce more cells for a living organism.
Mitosis occurs when genetic substance in the nucleus divides or separates in order
to create more cells. Cytokinesis normally occurs next and the single cell develops
into two separate cells. This same process continues to occur over and over creating
more cells for an organism replacing old or dead cells.

Questions:
A. What does mitosis accomplish?
The process of mitosis accomplishes replacing old or dying cells in an organism by
replicating the DNA and cell division.
B. When and where does mitosis occur?
Mitosis occurs in eukaryotic cells during the interphase of cell division.
C. What does meiosis accomplish? Meiosis has two consecutive cell divisions that
produce a total of four genetically different daughter cells.
D. When and where does meiosis occur?
Meiosis occurs in the ovaries and testes or reproduction organs during interphase.
E. How do these two processes differ?
Mitosis creates identical cells to replace old or dying cell tissue while Meiosis occurs
in the sexual reproduction organs and creates genetically different cells.

Ernest Hemingway s The Old Man And The Sea
Ernest Hemingway was a renaissance man whose accomplishments include a
Bronze Star for his bravery during World War II in 1947, the Pulitzer prize for
Fiction in 1953 for The Old Man and the Sea, and finally the Nobel Prize in
literature for his mastery of the art of narrative, most recently demonstrated in The
Old Man and the Sea , and for the influence that he has exerted on contemporary
style . Hemingway s legacy as one of the key figure of The Lost Generation of great
artists was solidified by his famous works such as A Farewell to Arms, and The Nick
Adam s Stories, however, the inspiration for these titles came from Hemingway s
personal experiences in war, love, and life. Having experienced World War I and II
firsthand Hemingway had both strong political views and harrowing details of war
that he needed to convey to his audience. Through his new form of prose that used
succinct declarative sentences combined with compelling stories Hemingway s
writing served as an inflection point for future literature.
No one ever accused Hemingway of being a lazy or cowardly man. Aside from
publishing seven novels, six short story collections, and two non fiction works
Hemingway lived his life like an action hero. Hemingway grew up with a love for
hunting and fishing in his families Upper Michigan cabin. At the age of 18he
enlisted with the Red Cross and became the first American to be injured on the
Italian front lines and earning the Italian Medal for bravery. He became

In Salman Rushdie s novel The Satanic Verses Rushdie tells a story about two men,
Saladin Chamcha and Gibreel Farishta, oddly connected by the fact that they both
survive the hijacking of their aircraft. Throughout the novel, Gibreel has powerful
dreams in which the narrator brings up the topic of the Satanic Verses. The Satanic
Verseswere supposedly verses that Muhammadsaid were part of the Quran and then
were later revoked. The Verses allegedly said that Allah was not the only god
and that
there were three slightly lesser female deities. It is believed that the Satanic Verses
were removed from the Quran because they accepted females as divine. In The

During the course of the novel, Rushdie uses the narrator, whom we assume to be
Satan himself, to illustrate to the reader why women are more inclined to not
follow the strict rules of Islam, and instead stray towards to devil because of better
quality of life promised with the devil as opposed to the demeaning and shameful
life they lead in the religion of Islam. In the Mahound chapter of The Satanic
Verses, the narrator tells the story of Ibrahim and his wife and son, Hagar and
Ismail. He took them to a waterless wilderness (96) where he abandoned them, but
before he left Hagar asked him Can this be God s will? (96), and Ibrahim replied
that it was. The narrator says that men have always used God as an excuse to
mistreat women in their lives and then goes off on a tangent thinking to himself
Small wonder, then, that women have turned to me (96). This is where the reader
can make the inference that the narrator is Satan because women are turning to
him and away from God and religion. They feel as though they are treated better by
the devil rather than God because the men in Islamic societies always justify the
horrible things they do to women by saying it is indeed God s will. Later on in the
book in the chapter A City Visible but Unseen Rushdie again shows the favoritism of
males over females. When Hind gives birth to her second daughter, Anahita, she is so
upset that she only has two girls that she refuses to have

  • 1. Works Cited Essay Writing an essay on the topic of "Works Cited Essay" can be both challenging and rewarding. While it might seem straightforward at first, delving into the intricacies of proper citation, formatting, and the inclusion of relevant sources can make the process quite complex. Crafting a comprehensive works cited section requires attention to detail, a solid understanding of various citation styles (such as APA, MLA, or Chicago), and a commitment to accuracy. One of the primary difficulties lies in navigating the specific rules and guidelines associated with each citation style. Each style has its own set of rules regarding the format of citations, how to cite different types of sources, and the proper order and punctuation of elements within a citation. Keeping track of these details while ensuring consistency throughout the entire essay can be a demanding task. Another challenge is the need for thorough research. A works cited essay typically requires a substantial amount of research to find relevant and reliable sources that contribute to the argument or topic of the essay. This involves not only finding appropriate sources but also critically evaluating them for credibility and relevance. Additionally, writers may encounter challenges when organizing and synthesizing the information gathered from various sources. Creating a cohesive narrative that integrates these sources seamlessly into the essay requires skillful writing and analytical thinking. Despite these challenges, mastering the art of creating a well-crafted works cited essay is a valuable skill. It not only showcases a writer's ability to conduct research and engage with scholarly materials but also demonstrates a commitment to academic integrity and the proper acknowledgment of sources. In conclusion, while writing a works cited essay may present difficulties, the process ultimately enhances a writer's academic skills and contributes to the overall quality of the essay. • 2. Similarities Between Frost And Heaney Both poets, Frost and Heaney wrote in the pastoral tradition, drawing on the natural landscape of Bellaghy, Co Derry and Frost and the farmland of New England, Massachusetts. Respectively Frost is an influence on Heaney evident in the sound of sense and Heaney borrowed the Frostian voice of rural vernacular with his use of unadorned language and natural speech rhythms, giving both poets work a conversational intimacy. Likewise, both poets used the everyday quotidian to illuminate universal truths and to extrapolate deeper meanings from ordinary. Similarly they used interactions with the natural world to produce profound revelations about the past, mortality, human loss, childhood, the creative process, journeys and self discovery. The... Continuing on from this, the monosyllabic line does not rust is assertive as he emphasises the permanence of the father s love; the internal rhyme brightens as it tightens reflects not just the rhythm of the plaiting motion but also the fluidity of the movement as the wheat is burnished by the constant tightening and smoothening; as he shapes it into a halo like crown with the luminescence of gold (transformation). However, the throwaway love knot is a contradictory/juxtaposition as the oxymoron suggests that it is both disposable yet also a cherished air loom. Yet, Mending Wall opens with the syntactical positioning of something at the start of the sentence highlighting the puzzle that he is seeking to deceiver on the insight that he is searching for as the word something has connotations of an enigma that he ponders on. Then, Spring is personified as a kind of animating force evident in the verbs, sends , spills and makes as being the physical explanation for the dismantled wall due to the stones yielding to the gravitational pull of the Earth and the contraction of the melting ice. The speculative tone continues in the fifth line work of the hunters tone of reprimanding and disapproving, left not one stone on a stone . There
  • 3. Hawaiian Pizza Research Paper Pizza is an American staple. Families and friends all gather around the circle to consume one of the most recognizable dishes in society. However, pizza is not yet perfect. The greatest form of pizza sits on the fringes, but it is often excluded from the idea Americans have of pizza. While it may seem strange or unfamiliar, evidence shows that Hawaiian pizza, defined as having pineapple and ham toppings, is the most superior form of pizza. To begin, pineapple is great for the economy. According to one study, the world pineapple market has been expanding rapidly for the last twenty years (Hossain, 2016, p. 11445). Clearly, this makes pineapples a safe investment for U.S. businesses as growth has occurred for a lengthy time and consumers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start, all of the ingredients in a Hawaiian pizza are cooked. According to a study done by Mouritsen (2016), heat treatment leads to [the] gelatinization of starchy carbohydrates and denaturation of proteins, meaning there are easier accessible nutrients and more energy (more calories) in the dish (p. 2). All of the ingredients in Hawaiian pizza are cooked, including the pineapple, and this releases more of the nutrients in pineapple. As a result, Hawaiian pizza is more nutritious than in dishes where the pineapple is raw. Because cooked food is more beneficial to human growth and development, humans evolved senses that could steer us towards food that is rich in calories and rich in proteins (Mouritsen, 2016, p. 3). In other words, cooked food is more appetizing and flavorful to humans. Furthermore, the food that contained the most nutrition became the most appetizing, and the primary tastes [of] sweet and umami do exactly that, respectively (Mouritsen, 2016, p. 3). Humans are hard wired to enjoy the taste of umami and sweetness, especially together, as it represents high energy and nutrition. This makes Hawaiian pizza superior because not only is it extremely nutritious, but it is also the most appealing combination of flavors, with umami flavor from the tomato and ham, and sweet flavor from the pineapple. On top of that, umami also enters a synergistic relationship with sweet taste; in other words, the presence of umami in a dish can enhance the sweetness substantially (Mouritsen, 2016, p. 8). Without the addition of sugar or artificial sweeteners, the combination of ham and pineapple makes Hawaiian pizza more sweet. In conclusion, Hawaiian pizza has enhanced flavor in almost every category of taste, all with only the simplest ingredients, and without added salt, butter, or
  • 4. Comparing The Genesis Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh Throughout the Genesis Flood, Atrahasis Flood and the Epic of Gilgamesh flood, there are many different ways to interpret the different views of The Flood. These different narratives in these stories have their own explanation on how this myth took place and the different beliefs that occurred during this flood. The way you portray each narrative is based on what exactly your beliefs are. When comparing the Genesis Flood narrative to that of the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, there are many similar symbols throughout both narratives. In the Genesis version of the flood, God had chosen to send the flood because the humankind he had created was evil and he saw their wickedness. For my par, I am going to bring a good of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die (Genesis 6:18). This excerpt from the narrative shows that one God had chosen to send the flood to destroy all humankind that he had originally created. Just like this narrative, the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, a God by the name of Enlil orders a flood to destroy humankind. Decided that the great gods should make a flood (Gilgamesh XI 109). This quote states how that a flood was to be sent for the city of Shuruppak. In the Genesis narrative there was a righteous man by the name of Noah that was chosen to build the ark. Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark and cover it inside and out with a pitch (Genesis

This reaction is called oxidation. Oxidation can occur on old cars, iron, exhaust and even the burning of fossil fuels. When wood, natural gas, or coal burns, the oxygen in the air combines with the carbon and hydrogen in the fuel to produce water and the oxides of carbon.(Prentice Hall Chemistry The Study of Matter p.599.) (Sachs, 1992, p.26) Ever since the 1970s, capitalism has entered into the era of neoliberal development. Simply put, capitalism is an economic system that propagates private and or corporate ownership trough investments. Private decisions, prices, production and distribution of goods are determined by the competition in a free market. All of this in turn decides the path of aforementioned investments. The analysis of these international /global projects will help in answering whether so far capitalism has been successful in addressing environmental concerns or not. Taking a Marxist perspective, the essay emphasizes that while awareness has been raised exponentially about the dangers of environmental deterioration, capitalism has a long way to go before it can be called green . On a spectrum of black to bright green, capitalism is currently swimming in the murky depths of brown. For an environmentally sound world, capitalism itself may need to be replaced with a different economic system. THERE IS NO ONE PERSPECTIVE TO ENVIRONEMTAL CRISES Core ideologies dominating the environmental debate revolve around neoliberalism, Marxism and environmentalism. All of these ideologies are umbrella terms for they bifurcate into many sub categories or approaches to environmental crises. While many believe that Marx and later on Engels, had nothing useful to say about the environment since their critique of capitalism was believed to be limited to class struggle and exploitation of labour under a capitalist class. However, Marx (1964, 1970, 1977, 1981) and Engels (1973, 1979) have, perhaps, the longest historical connection to environmentalism. For the longest time, environmental socialist did not derive any clear arguments from Marxist

Without the Republicans arising in that time and creating a platform to abide by, life in the United States would have erupted. The platform was created to secure the union and to stop succession by the south and to abolish slavery. Another issue the Republicans brought forward to society to view was that majority of what the Constitution stated, was being neglected or against in the times before 1860. Anshelm´s Proof of God´s Existence The question about the existence of God or, more generally speaking, of a supernatural entity that steers the course of the world, is probably as old as humanity itself. Many great philosophers were concerned with this basic and yet so important question which remains to be a controversial issue to this day! In the following I will commit myself to the above mentioned question by firstly reconstructing AnselmВґs proof of GodВґs existenceand secondly considering his position in the light of the critique put forward by Gaunilo, Aquinas and Kant. Therefore, something than which nothing greater can be conceived cannot be conceived not to be and thus must exist. Put it another way, it is simply impossible for God not to exist, which even refers back to Boethius (480 AD 524 AD) reasoning, which Anselm had studied extensively. God differs from humans, animals or any other non living subjects in that their existence is always contigent on something or someone else. Thus, a child is contigent on his parents; if the mother had not conceived it, it would never have come to existence. God, however, is not contigent on anyone or anything else but himself! Of course, as it is the case with most of the sensational publishments throughout human history, it did not take long until AnselmВґs ontological argument was subjected to criticism. Up to now many famous philosophers have published papers refuting AnselmВґs argument and questioning its validity, amongst others Gaunilo, Aquinas and Immanuel Kant. One of the first objections documented, was put forward by Gaunilo of Marmoutiers (11th century). Although Gaunilo was a firm believer in God, he did not agree on AnselmВґs method to prove GodВґs existence and hence played the devilВґs advocate to demonstrate the flawed reasoning in AnselmВґs argument. Gaunilo tried to show up the problem with the logic of the first argument by
  • 20. Max Weber Sociology Of Religion Along with Durkheim and Marx, Weber was one of the most influential thinkers in the foundation of the field of sociology, Weber namely in establishing the subject of the sociology of religion. Weber s mother was a devout Calvinist, while his father was involved in politics and intellectual pursuits. In addition to his vast education in many fields, Weber was also a jurist, and a teacher at the Universities of Berlin and Heidelberg. Max Weberfavoured a hermeneutical approach to studying religion (McCutcheon 2007, p.188) in a method known as Verstehen. This refers to wishing to understand the deeper significance of something, in this case religion, by studying it from the perspective and experience of another, and the meaning they then attach to it. Since religious beliefs affect people s behaviour, Weber believed that religions could have profound effects on societies and their development (Connolly 1999, p.199). While Weber, like Marx, saw religion as emerging from suffering, he had a more positive attitude towards it, seeing it as having benefits. He saw religion as being something which gave humans meaning in life and a way to respond to suffering (Herling 2015, p.74). An example the Christian doctrine of original sin can serve as an explanation for evil in the world, thereby offering a solution for people to reconcile and cope with their suffering in the world and their lives (Weber 1965, p.139). Unlike Marx, he did not see it as being an inherently negative or

  • 31. What Is The Concentration Of Salt Concentration In Osmosis Based on the data, the 1% salt solution had the least change in mass. Its mass only went down by 0.1 grams. The 5% and 10% solutions caused the mass to decrease, while 0% salt solution was the only one that lead to an increase in the mass. From these results, it can be concluded that as the salt concentration get higher, the potato s mass starts to decrease. When there is barely any salt in the solutionthe mass will increase. When comparing the turgidity of the cells a similar type of pattern emerged. As the salt concentrationgot higher, the potato became flaccid. However, at lower salt concentrations the potato remained crisp. An increase in the salt concentrations ended up changing the turgidity of the potatoes and making them flaccid. These results arose because of the different solutions the cells were put. When the potato mass, decreased the cells of the potatoes were in an hypertonic solution because the solute concentration outside the cells is greater than in the cell so water will flow out of the cells to maintain equilibrium. Since there was osmosis of water out of the cell it lost weight. This also explains why cells appeared flaccid. The loss of water can cause it to loose its shape and shrink A source mentions, in hypertonice soltions, water rushes out of the cell, and the cell shrinks away from the rigid [cell] wall, resulting in plasmolysis (http://www.phschool.com/science /biology_place/biocoach/biomembrane1/isotonic.html). The opposite happened in the 0% salt solution. The potato gained mass because the solute concentrations was greater inside the cell than the outside which caused water to move into the cell. A microscopic view reveals the vacuoles of plant cells appear noticeably larger (https:/ /sciencing.com/happens hypertonic hypotonic isotonic environments 8624599.html ) The water intake kept it study and crisp. .However, too much water could have caused many potato cells to burst. Lastly, the 1% solution was isotonic to cells because its mass remained about the same. In an isotonic solution the water movement in and out of the cells is balanced to there is no net gain, making it stay the same. We had a 0.1 gram decrease but, that could be due measuring errors. This theme is mainly cognizant of the fact that there was a great deal of foreign activity in china during this time and that improvements in transport means had given many Chinese people the opportunities to travel far and wide, aside from their traditional neighbors of Japan. AFAS 101 In the short story Going to Meet the Man by James Baldwin, we see how psychological conditioning at a young age turned an innocent minded boy into a full bodied racist. In this short story is filled cover to cover with extensive racism and prejudices, the reader is invited to see how apathetic a crowd of people can be in the face of a lynching. Through a mob mentality, a young Jesse transforms from a young man with African descendant friends, to someone today defined as a classic bigot. The largest attribution to Jesse s hatred towards blacks can be found in his environment. In a post Civil War south, there is a great deal of anger and bitterness towards northern ideals. When Jessy interrogates one of the ringleaders of the singing debacle at the local prison, he tells the ringleader, You are going to stop your singing, I said to him, and you are going to stop coming down to the court house and disrupting traffic and molesting the people and keeping us from our duties and keeping doctors from getting sick white women and getting all them Northerners in this town to give own town a bad name! (Baldwin 233). Clearly, Jessy is not referring to the ringleader specifically, or the even the entire group. Jesse has been conditioned at a young age that Africans are nothing but trouble and must be dealt with. The producers create conflict and stress for the people in the show to see how they will get themselves out of the situation. I would enjoy being a producer of that show because of the entertainment one could have with messing with the contestants. I was shocked that Jonny Fairplay would lie about his grandmother dying just so he could get the reward challenge. I noticed that the show picks the contestants who have troubles solving problems, will explode if something goes wrong, or the unreasonable people. They do not pick contestants that will think through something thoroughly to make the correct decision because that is not as enjoying for viewers. I do think that the ethical standard by the APA for psychological research should be applied to reality based television shows. The war in the Japanese front took longer to end, and many speculate that if the United States had not created the atom bomb, the war in Asia would have lasted many more years. The answers for this prolongation is rooted deep in Japanese culture and history. There are many strange examples and acts from the Japanese military during World War 2. For example, not a single soldier would ever surrender as POW. Due to rules by the military and the indoctrination of beliefs, soldiers would refuse to accept defeat. • 56. Essay about Salman Rushdie’s Idea of Women in The Satanic... In Salman Rushdie s novel The Satanic Verses Rushdie tells a story about two men, Saladin Chamcha and Gibreel Farishta, oddly connected by the fact that they both survive the hijacking of their aircraft. Throughout the novel, Gibreel has powerful dreams in which the narrator brings up the topic of the Satanic Verses. Later on in the book in the chapter A City Visible but Unseen Rushdie again shows the favoritism of males over females. When Hind gives birth to her second daughter, Anahita, she is so upset that she only has two girls that she refuses to have
