Dog Essay Writing
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Dog Essay Writing" might seem deceptively simple at first
glance. After all, dogs are beloved companions, and many people have personal experiences and
anecdotes to share. However, the challenge lies in creating a piece that goes beyond the obvious
and delves into meaningful insights.
Firstly, the danger of clichГ©s looms large. Writing about dogs often triggers familiar tropes,
such as loyalty, unconditional love, and companionship. Steering clear of these well-worn paths
is essential to avoid a generic and uninteresting essay.
Additionally, striking a balance between personal anecdotes and broader perspectives is a
delicate task. While sharing personal stories can add authenticity, it's vital not to lose sight of the
broader implications and themes related to dogs. A successful essay should not just be a
collection of individual experiences but a cohesive exploration of the topic.
Research is another aspect that adds complexity. Addressing the historical, cultural, and scientific
aspects of dogs requires thorough investigation. Integrating this information seamlessly into the
essay, without making it sound like a dry report, requires skill and finesse.
Furthermore, avoiding sentimentality while still capturing the emotional essence of the bond
between humans and dogs is a tightrope walk. Striking the right emotional chord without
becoming overly sentimental can be challenging but is crucial for a well-rounded and impactful
essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Dog Essay Writing" demands more than a
surface-level exploration. It necessitates a nuanced approach, a careful selection of details, and
an ability to transcend clichГ©s. Only with these elements in place can the essay truly capture
the multifaceted nature of the relationship between humans and their canine companions.

Case Studies Of Mexico And Rwanda
The Achievability of Universal Healthcare Coverage Case Studies of Mexico and
Rwanda In this paper I use a case study approach to discuss the feasibility of
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in low and middle income countries. First, I
define UHC and contextualize it within the goals of a health system. Then, I
describe healthcare reforms aimed at achieving UHC in one middle income country
Mexico and one low income country Rwanda. Through these descriptions, I attempt
to identify common patterns that promote UHC by analyzing three dimensions of
healthcare reform: the contextual factors; the health services design,
implementation, and evaluation; and the financing. Defining Health System Goals
and Universal Health Coverage There are many different frameworks to define the
purpose of a health system, many of which contain very similar concepts.1 For
purposes of this paper, I use the health system goals described by Murray and
Frenk.2 Murray and Frenk define three intrinsic goals of a healthcare system: 1)
health, 2) responsiveness (respect for persons and client satisfaction), and 3) fair
financing.2 For these goals, both averages and distributions are important.2,3 For
example, it is not enough for a healthcare system if the average health of a
population is good, but the level of health is poor in some subpopulations. The goal
of the healthcare system is also equal distribution of health outcomes. UHC is an
approach by which a healthcare system may achieve the goals
A Business Model For A Big Corporation
Indeed, the sharing economy known as collaborative consumption. It is a trending
concept that highlights the skills for individuals to rent or borrow the goods as
compared to purchase them. Without a doubt we can say that 2013 is a sharing
economy year. (Forbes, 2013) The concept of the sharing economy is following
below:
Accommodation sharing: Airbnb has not only opened the doors for the alternative
way in the perspective of travel, but it has forced cities to follow up their housing
codes and questions about housing requirement and desires. (Lee, 2013)
Bike sharing: This concept defines that passing the bike to another person has maybe
done more to transform the city.
Car sharing: This industry begins with small business and no time became an
attractive business model for a big corporation. Chart 1 shown that the car sharing
economy of scale. It indicates the car share vehicles provided and parking spaces
needed through chart 1 which meets the 20 care share vehicles and 800 parking
spaces that level showed as car share economy of scale. (Chart 1)
Meal sharing: This is very important concept of the sharing economy. Munchery and
the favorite of San Francisco share by supporting, working and customer to connect
with the city s chefs. They tried to provide quality meals at home. (Campbell, 2003)
Educational resource sharing: This concept of sharing cut the headaches and made it
easy for teachers to promote their classes, especially those are teaching as freelancers.

Chartage Vs Rome
HIST 1421 GREEK AND ROMAN CIVILIZATION WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT 5
Both Rome and Chartage, in 3 rd century B.C. could be considered the strongest
military powers in the western Mediterranean Sea. Yet, they had power over different
lands, and their military approach was different.
Starting with Chartage, it became a political and economic power even before
Rome. Its government regulation, was similar to Rome: there were two chief
magistrates, and a consult of elders which can be compared to Roman Senate
(Morey, 1901). By the way, at the time of the First Punic War, whilst
Rome was experiencing its highest level of political life, Carthage was beginning the
decreasing phase. At the beginning of the first Punic War, Carthage surely was the
biggest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Rome did not have a strong military leader, in fact during the Second
Punic War, after the killing of Fabius Maximus at Lake
Trasumenus (Morey, 1901), the Roman Senate decided to appoint Q. Fabio
Maximus as dictator. This was chosen in order to provide major force to Military
assets.
The expansion of Carthage was outstanding, it occurred quickly because of its great
strategy and because of the lack of strategy from Rome. Rome had very patriotic
soldiers, but not great military leaders as Carthage had. Hannibal had the great
intuition to hit Rome while Rome was planning to fight Carthage in Spain and Africa.
Because of such strategy, Rome found itself surrounded both from north and south.
Carthage was very smart in making alleys at north with the Gauls, which had been
defeated from romans in the past, and that therefore where great enemies, and in the
south, with Sicily and Apulia.
It is my opinion that the destruction of Rome has been avoided also because of its
great walls. Without walls, probably, Rome would have been violated as it happened
with Gauls, just two centuries before.
It is at this point that Rome, and most of all romans, shew their patriotism, and
decided that
The Breaking Bad Series
Life is not fair for Jesse Pinkman, a 25 year old man who is long estranged with his
family. In the Breaking Bad series, Jesse is thought to be what society would call a
low life (Quin). From the moment we see Jesse in the first episode, he is on the
run under the pseudonym Cap n Cook ( Jesse Pinkman ). When Jesse and Walter
join to make methamphetamine, their lives start to spiral. To be deprived of doing
something you are passionate about, and to be rejected by your own family
because of it, can make a man do unthinkable things. Because of past events in his
life, Jesse is in search of approval and attention while living a life of crime. Jesse
has a passion for art that leads him to the life of cooking meth. In the first episode
Jesse tells Walt, Cooking is art. As a kid, Jesse was very creative and he liked to
draw. Jesse s parents wanted him to be a doctor but Jesse had other plans for his
life. Because of his rebellious behavior and drug use, Jesse s parents ban him from
the family and want nothing to do with him. At one point, Jesse tries to change his
life and comes back home, sneaking through the back. His parents are ready to
kick him out again but when they see Jesse setting the dinner table, they see a ray
of hope for their son. Jesse s parents find drugs in his room that belong to his
brother, Jake, but they assume it is Jesse s and they kick him out for good. The
rejection was very hurtful to Jesse and led him to try and find acceptance out on the

Samurai Knights Dbq
Samurais and Knights are very similar, yet they can be very different along the lines
of training, armor and weapons, and code/law. They both start training at a very
young age in childhood. According to Document A, training of samurai began in
childhood, and according to Document B, knight s training began at age four or five.
During training they learned certain skills with swords, but practiced with sticks.
Later at age 14, both warriors promoted up a rank. Young samuraipromoted to a
samurai in a ceremony called gempukku while pages promoted to squires. Squires
became knights if they wished to at age 21. They learned very different things in
training as well. Samurai learned poetry, and pages learned skills involving horses.

Global Drug Policy
The global policy on drugs has one main concern, as maintained in the first clause
of the 1961 UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs: promoting the health and
welfare of mankind (United Nations, 1961). The convention and global drug policy
actors have asserted through the years that drugs pose a threat to this concern, and
so an integrated effort to reduce supply, demand and trafficking of said narcotics is
the desired course of action (High Level segment Commission on Narcotic Drugs,
2009). It seems that this course of action became an end of itself instead of a mean to
an end of health and welfare, as mounting evidence shows that the actions taken to
achieve this have not only been ineffective in reducing supply, demand and
trafficking; they have also created severe violations of human rights, alongside
criminalization, a hazard to public health, and drugcartels which pose a very real
threat to peace and security.
Member states have not been oblivious to the fact that the measures taken have been
counterproductive, and an increasing number of states are dissatisfied with the
results of this policy (Doward, 2013). Some have addressed this by decriminalizing
possession and use of drugs and introducing harm reduction programs, considering
the issue of demand not a criminal issue but a public health one. The evidence in
favor of such programs was acknowledged by international bodies such as WHO and
UNODC, emphasizing that reducing demand should be done through means of
What Is The Theme Of The Waste Land
The Waste Land, published in 1922, is a 434 line poem by T.S. Eliot. It is widely
acknowledged as one of the greatest poems of the 20th century, and an important text
in Modernist poetry (wiki). Because it makes use of several allusions and quotations
in different languages and of different cultures, and also shifts between speakers,
location, and time abruptly and unannounced, critics regard the poem as obscure and
fragmented, nothing more than a chaotic assemblage of Eliot s thoughts.
Consequently, The Waste Landhas been the cause of more consternation and
controversy than any other poem of the twentieth century. To some readers, it
appears to be staggeringly esoteric; a medley of voices; a music of allusions; and a
palimpsest or layered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The epigraph tells the story of Sybil, having wished for eternal life, forgot to wish
for eternal youth and thus begs to be granted death. Eliot begins with this epigraph
to tell us that civilization needs to die in order to be reborn anew (Childs, 1999, p.
75). The Burial of the Dead shares an image of the modern world as dry and
infertile. Here, Eliot compares modern society to the Fisher King s infertile waste
land and calls for the need for a spiritual awakening. A Game of Chess speaks of
sexual indifference, abuse, violation, adultery, and abortion. Eliot specifically
targets the mundane routine of marital power play, thus comparing couples in the
20th century to mechanical beings, sordidly indifferent to sex and love. The Fire
Sermon , evoking St. Augustine s Confessions and Buddha s Fire Sermon, moves
on to the necessity of purging of feelings of anger, revenge, hatred, jealousy, and
passion in order to be born a new. Death by Water speaks of Phlebas the Phoenician,
a dead soldier who decays at the bottom on an ocean. This brings the reader back to
the account of Madame Sosotris in section one who warned Fear death by water
(line 55). Ironically, Eliot does not warn the reader of death by actual drowning, but
by death due to a lack of water in this modern, barren waste land. Finally, What the
Thunder Said partially relieves the poem s dread; it initially speaks of the agony in
this modern day waste
The Three Gods Neke, Xea And Sanvi
In the beginning there were only three gods: Neke, Xea and Sanvi. Sanvi and Xea
had a son called Fussa who later was the king of the gods he was the god of
courage and wisdom. However, there was nothing on the earth that could be brave or
wise. In fact, there was nothing on the earth at all; just a barren wasteland.
He wondered how to change this. First he decided to ask his mother Xea to plant
many, many seeds. Then he asked the rain goddess Neke to create a powerful storm.
It lasted three days and three nights. After, he asked Sanvi the sun god (and his father)
to warm the earth. By the end, there were plants everywhere in all shapes, sizes and
colours. It was a sea of jade green leaves, pastel blossoms and bright ripening fruit.
Yet there was some thing missing.
Creatures! he thought. We must create some!
All the gods went to work making life. Xea made antelope and giraffes and okapi to

Sanvi was furious; he made huge deserts with the sun s harsh heat. Neke cried so
much her tears created expanses of sea and winding paths of rivers. Xea pummelled
and pushed the ground,
making mountains and valleys. Fussa thought of a justly awful way to punish him.
Finally, he had an idea.
He was taken to mountain the tallest mountain around and had to push it down. The
top was so pointed that if he were distracted, even for a moment, he would be
skewered. Permanently. It was precarious work. Sho managed to push it ever so
slightly down each day, but during the night it would stubbornly rise back up. Mean
while the gods remade the world with all the plants and animals, but thought they
should make something to keep it in check. First they made monkeys but they were
too mischievous. Next they made primates, but they were too involved in themselves.
Eventually they found the perfect combination of strength, wits and kindness to make
the first men and women. They did their job well (most of the time).

The Symptoms Of Cushing s Syndrome
Cushing s Syndrome
Cushing s Disease or Cushing s Syndrome? Aren t they the same thing? What are
they even? Cushing s disease is a medical condition; a disorder of the pituitary gland
causes it to create too much ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) which in turn leads
to overproduction of cortisol. Cushing s Syndrome is a symptom of Cushing s
disease; as well as of other conditions, whether endogenous (originating from inside
the body) or exogenous (originating from outside the body).
Pathophysiology and Etiology
Cushing s Syndrome is the result of overexposure to cortisol, a hormone normally
secreted by the adrenal cortex in a diurnal rhythm, with an increase in times of stress.
In Cushing s Syndrome, cortisol is secreted constantly with no ... Show more content

Other factors that may increase the risk of Cushing s disease include obesity, type 2
diabetes, poorly controlled blood sugar levels and high blood pressure. While none
of these factors are a direct cause of the condition, they are associated with higher
prevalence of it. (Endocrine Society, 2016) Cushing s syndrome is most common in
patients on high levels of steroid medications to treat chronic inflammatory disorders.
(Williams, L., Hopper, P., 2015)
Diagnostic Testing
Suspicion may initially result from the characteristic cushingoid appearance in
addition to a history of taking steroids. Levels of cortisol can be tested from saliva
or a 24 hour urine collection. Levels of ACTH in the blood are also measured, along
with potassium. Additional tests may be done to locate the cause, such as a tumor.
(Williams, L., Hopper, P., 2015)
Complications
If untreated, Cushing s syndrome may result in bone loss leading to fractures, high
blood pressure, frequent or unusual infections, Type 2 diabetes, and loss of muscle
mass and strength. (Mayo Clinic Staff,

Journey of the Hero in Harry Potter and the SorcererВґs...
The American author, teacher, and mythologist, Joseph John Campbell, is
universally known for his work in comparative folklore and culture. His studies led
him to discover the pattern, journey of the hero. The sequence consists of three
stages and exists in many dealings with Greek mythology as well as current popular
culture. A modern example of the occurring cycle is the 2001 production, Harry Potter
and the Sorcerer s Stone. In the film, an orphaned young boy named Harry Potteris
invited to study at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In time, he is
involved in a dangerous quest to save the wizarding community from the grasps of
the Dark Lord. The film demonstrates aspects of a traditional journey of the hero

Harry s departure from his old life is evident once he steps on to Platform Nine and
Three Quarters to board the Hogwarts Express (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s
Stone). Leaving his previously known home is not difficult because of the ten
years of neglect that occurred in the Dursley household. Harry has only been in two
magical places and he already feels more comfortable than ever. Now that he has
crossed over to the hidden world of magic, he is ready to embark on his adventure.
Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will
eventually lead him to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after
curfew, Harry receives detention in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face
with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when Harry travels down the
trap door into the chambers; such as devil s snare, a human wizard s chess game,
and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone). The series of tests
make Harry s mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the
unsuccessful trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry
s journey strengthen him emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the
traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from
the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark
Lord. Harry sees himself in the mirror and realizes he is magically in possession of

Dehydration Of Sulfuric Acid And Phosphoric Acid
Dehydration of 2 methylcyclohexanol Authors: Johnny Presley Abstract:
Dehydration of 2 methylcyclohexanol to 3 methylcyclohexene is simple distillation
where dehydration was used to prepare the final product. The results of the
experiment showed that the 3 methylcyclohexene was formed via an E1 reaction
from 2 methylcyclohexanol with a 1:1 ratio of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid.
However, some H2O was left over, which was seen when we look at the IR and see
a small water peak. This could be due to the fact that not enough sodium sulfate
was added and not for long enough. These results were confirmed by the quality
tests that showed that a precipitate formed when KMnO4 was added to the solution
and in the IR spectroscopy peaks showed peaks at 3022.62cm 1 which matches an
alkene, further showing that the formation of 3 methylcyclohexene was successful
with a percent yield of 56.46%. Introduction: The major reaction that happened was
an E1 reaction (otherwise known as a unimolecular elimination reaction). In this
reaction the removal of an HX substituent group results in the formation of a double
bond via beta hydrogen elimination4. In an E1 reaction the deprotonation of
hydrogen in the beta position occurs and from here a carbocation is formed, which
results in the formation of an alkene product. This happens when the OH group on
the 2 methylcyclohexanol is hydrated by H2SO4, which allows the OH to become
an H2O. Since H20 is a better leaving group now it will

The Supply Of Crude Oil
Internationally, the supply of crude oil has been elevated beyond demand leading to
a subsequent decrease in prices for the past few years. The price reduction of oil
remained consistent and very low until a few months ago when the oil market
underwent scrutiny for its high level of output. Since then, the price of oil has been
extremely turbulent; experiencing record highs for the year, but following with
plummeting values the very next day. Many factors, internal and external to the
United States, account for the change in supply and demandof oil internationally and
these factors will subsequently cause the price of oil to decrease to 48 dollars from 50.
The United States faces many internal factors that influence oil supply, including
the number of suppliers and the confidence these suppliers have in the oil market.
According to McFarlane of the Wall Street Journal, the quantity of oil in the
country is 5.4% higher than the same period last year and 31.5% above the five
year average . The ultimate reason for any increase in supply, specifically the
increase she mentions, is due to higher output by oil suppliers. For example, within
the last week the number of oil rigs in the country has increased by 11, bringing the
total number of oil producing facilities to 443 (Jamerson, 2016). As mentioned
before, oil prices have been turbulent in the market and according to the article Oil
Prices Down as Investors Skim Gains, the observed oil rig growth is due to a surge in

Characteristics Of Diamond Coatings
The crystallite size of the diamond coatings get larger simply with the deposition time

Summary Of Rohinton Mistry And A Fine Balance
Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear discusses how people quickly blame fate for events
that are actually the fault of their own actions, saying that, This is the excellent
foppery of the world... when we are sick in fortune, often the surfeits of our own
behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the moon, and the stars: as if we
were villains by necessity (Edmund, King Lear). Similarly, A Fine Balance by
Rohinton Mistry demonstrates that the joys, injustices, and cruelties present in the
characters lives happen due to circumstances beyond their control, such as
government regulations and the societal traditions and systems surrounding them
everyday. Amidst the political turmoil and uproar of the Emergency in India,
Rohinton Mistry depicts the lives of good, everyday people as they struggle to gain
stable footing in a highly corrupt and hierarchical society. In this depiction of various
characters living in Indian society, Mistry portrays how India s deeply rooted
societal traditions and systems create an indirect line of causalities that disguises
itself as fate.
Mistry demonstrates how the characters defiance of traditional Indian gender roles
creates a line of causalities that ultimately determine the character s path. Mistry
contextualizes these gender roles when he describes that, It was hard for [wives]
not to be resentful the birth of daughters often brought them beatings from their
husbands and their husband s families (Mistry 100). The author includes this quote
to demonstrate the considerably large extent to which males hold power and
priority in Indian society, thus making women nearly impotent with the exception
of Dina, which may explain why the author gives her a central role in the novel.
Therefore, the defiance of gender roles which the society in which they live
considers as a crime since the values of misogyny have invaded their worldview is
dangerous, but represented in the character of Dina Dalal. Dina was quickly
widowed, but Mistry depicts her as a strong woman who struggles to keep her
independence in a society that expects her to be subordinate to another man. Even
after many years since her husband s death, Dina s brother, Nusswan, compares her
life to watching

Distribution of articles and journals allow AARP to increase its influence on
American voters. There s a contract with AOL offering members a ten percent
discount which is advertised through AOL Software and is distributed to millions
throughout the United States. This practice allows AARP to contact more voters and
members than in previous years. All practice enable the AARP to influence decisions
of voters, which in turn affect the policy making process in their favor. Sponsoring
political debates is another strategy used which enables the AARP to convey their
message in the form of advertising during commercial breaks in the debate. Most of
the AARP s influence is conveyed through approximately twenty second
advertisement spots, which sum up the organization s beliefs. In order for the
AARP to achieve its political goals, it is vital that they are able to influence public
opinion. The primary way the group goes about this is by producing and airing
major television programs that focus on issues such as federal tax reform and social
security. Without the media, the AARP would have far less impact on political
decision making. Recently, the AARP has come under scrutiny of the United States
Senate, led by Senator Alan K. Simpson, a republican from Wyoming. The senator
questions the AARP s status as a non profit organization benefited by a tax exemption

Hamlet s Treatment Towards Gertrude
Hamlet s treatment towards Gertrude (mother) is not unreasonable but the way
Hamlet treats Ophelia is a little harsh in the beginning when she is completely
innocent. Further along through the play Hamlet s treatment towards Ophelia can be
considered reasonable since she basically decided to side with Claudius and Polonius.
The way in which Hamlettreats Gertrudeand Ophelia doesn t seem to be a part of
the misogyny in the culture. Hamlet does seem to possess a great hatred for
women, especially the women in his close circle of peers. The hatred he has for
women is strong and visible to readers. The way Hamlet treats Gertrude is
completely just. Hamlet feels his mother has betrayed him because she married his
father s murderer shortly after his father was killed. Hamlet expected his mother,
the loving wife of his deceased father, to grieve and never marry again or at least
not after two months but Gertrude did. Also, by Gertrude marrying a bad man
such as Claudius has caused Hamlet to believe that Gertrude is a bad person and
she is not to be trusted. Hamlet thinks that his mother may have been a part of his
father s murder. Hamlet treats her just as he treats Claudius because Hamlet feels
Gertrude is no better. Hamlet has the right to be angry and expresses it the way he
seems fit and his mother deserves such treatment. Gertrude did move rather quickly
after Hamlet s father passed and she didn t seem to be fazed by his father s death
anymore. If the readers were in
Worship As A Form Of Worship In The Church
Church bells ring, it is time for Sunday School. Children and teenagers sit in
classrooms scattered throughout a church, Grace Church of the Nazarene. Bibles are
either on the tables or in the children and teenagers laps as they begin class. The
Sunday School teacher, Bible in hand, begins the class and starts out asking, How do
you define worship? The children and teens begin to stare at each other or look
down at their hands in silence as the teacher waits for them to ponder the question
more. After a few minutes a brave soul raises his hand, slowly but surely. The
teacher, relieved the silence is about to be broken, calls upon him. The child
responds with, Is it when we sing in big church? The teacher, smiling largely, informs
the child that singing in big church is part of worship, but is not the only form of
worship.
Today children and teenagers are asked the question above a lot in church and
typically answer the same way the child did. Although that may be the main
answer they give that is only a portion of what worship is. Worship is the act of
honoring God. Whether it is through singing in big church or doing chores at
home, if one is honoring God it is worship. Merriam Webster defines worship as a
form of religious practice with its creed and ritual, and extravagant respect or
admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem. Putting both definitions of worship
together it would be defined as honoring an object God in this case and being

How Does The Hunger Games Affect Society
The book The hunger games, shows a society where people are treated based on
factors they cannot control. The characters are born into one of twelve districts.
Their lives vary based on where they are born. Someone who is born in the Capitol
has a different lifestyle than one born in the lowest district, district twelve. A
person born in the Capitol lives a life full of luxury. If a person is born in district
twelve they have to work for a living. They live in shacks for homes.
In the book, the social system causes people to be treated very unfairly, because of
where they live. The plot is based on the fact that society is built on social classes.
The population is put into districts, and then there is the capitol. The districts are
numbered one through twelve. The first four districts are the districts that live a

A Reflection Of The Consumption Of Media And The Media
We are surrounded by a whirlwind of different media outlets, but they are not being
forced upon us. While this mass production of media and various stories is a
reflection of our corporations that also can relate to our greedy demand for more and
more of everything. We are only human and so are those in mediatrying to master the
masses. The last page of Gladstone s The Influencing Machine ends with one
sentence: We get the media we deserve (p.156). The media is a reflection of
companies run by people trying to create what we want. Consumption of media is
not mandatory, but we urge for more and more. Media caters to the consumers
desires and reflects many of our beliefs. This is all well deserved and supported
through our interaction with the media. The media is a complex term thrown
around holding various meanings to those who hear it. However, media is just
plural for medium. A medium for communication. Media has become as complex
as we are and so are our interactions. According to Gladstone, the media landscape is
so cluttered with mirrors facing mirrors that we can t tell where an image begins or
ends (xxi). Everything within our society and even our bodies are interconnected
and our media has become a product of this. But this interconnectedness makes it
increasingly more difficult to decipher the media available to us. Similarly, it takes
years for doctors to understand the connections within our bodies. We are a
complicated, entangled people and we wouldn t be satisfied with simple media.
However, this leads to controversy and confusion within the webs of media.
Likewise, there are always conflicts within our society. We cannot always catch up to
the adaptations of media, but the media also struggles to interpret us. Societies are
always adapting and making new advancements. Most recent technological advances
are inescapable whether that be smartphones or electric cars. With the internet s
widespread accessibility increasing, the media available online feels endless. We
currently indulge in a consumer based society, and our needs of craving more leak
into our media. In The Information Diet, Johnson explain, computers force us into
creating with our minds and prevent us from making things with
Serial Killers Essay
Every human being has feelings and emotions. When they get frustrated, some of
them cry, scream, swear, and some of them try to find peace of mind while some of
them commit crime. Out of these people who commit crimes, some of them become
the most dangerous criminals, known as serial killer. A serial killer is a term to
describe that human being who commits series of murder. The word serial killerwas
given by Robert K. Russler (FBI Investigator) in 1975 after he encountered series of
murders. Serial killers are just not murderers but also the victim of bad society or the
bad environment in which they grew up in.
The serial killers are psychotic and mentally insane people; usually typical white
males, in their twenties or thirties. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The words of Henry Lee Lucas showed he was abused in his childhood along with
the violence. Most of the serial killers had accounts for theft, torturing animals, and
had held for juvenile crimes at their young age. And many of them had some type of
brain damage or were addicted to alcohol and drugs in their adulthood.
They act normal in the public, trying to lure people into their trap and make them
their next victim. They look for their victim in local areas or similar places and
dispose the victim s bodies in the same or nearby areas. Ted Bundy, who was 29 years
old, seemed a nice gentleman. He graduated from University of Washington, and
was studying law in Utah. He had worked for crime commission in Seattle, and
also worked as a political campaigner. In his room there was nothing suspicious
except maps of Colorado, from which five girls disappeared. He was sentenced to
death by electrocution in 1989. With the motive of sex, he made female students of
the university as his victim. He was found guilty of killings of 20 to 40 women.
Serial killers kill for different reasons. Some serial killers are missionaries and think
that it is their responsibility to get rid of unwanted elements of the society. They see
themselves as a hero who has abolished a bad practice of the

Honor And Glory By Homer

Honor and Glory
The idea of obtaining honor and glory are what Greek characters dedicate their lives
to. The Greeks lived by a heroic code, which shaped their society. Being remembered,
as a great warrior, is one of the highest honors a Greek soldier can obtain. Honor and
glory are the cause of the Trojan War, which takes the lives of many men. Honor and
Glory are what define the hero in the epic poem, The Iliad, written by Homer.
Throughout the Iliad, honor and glory is the motivation behind the characters, there
are different ways to obtain honor and glory, and the different views of honor
throughout the epic poem.
The idea of honor and glory are essential to understanding the motivation behind the
characters in the Iliad. Glory was gained by the heroic actions and deeds. The best
opportunity to gain honor was during a battle. A warrior would try and obtain honor
during the battle, no matter the cost. The importance of honor can be seen in Hector
s final battle when he says, Let me not then die ingloriously and without a struggle,
but let me first do some great thing that shall be told among men hereafter. (Homer,
Iliad 22.232) Hector has accepted that he will die at the hand of Achilles. However, he
wishes to be remembered as a great warrior of Troy. Hector does not wish to have his
live spared, but rather he wishes to do some honorable deed and die with honor and
glory. Glory came as a
Nineteen Fifties Research Paper
Life in the Nineteen Fifties Throughout a period of time things begin to change,
rather it is for the better or for the worse. Our country has definitely changed for the
better. As time passes things like the way we dress, the features on a car, or even
things like the price of a carton of milk change. America has changed in many
forms throughout the years, rather it be our advancements in technology, our rules,
or the way we act as people. We as Americans tend to always take what we already
had and grow off of it, we are always advancing what we have. A time period of
major changes occurred in the nineteen fifties, where things began to change for the
better. In the nineteen fifties the population in America was growing at a more rapid...

In the movie, the majority of the characters are teenagers in high school; teenagers
were the driving force behind fashion during the nineteen fifties. As well as, the
way teenagers and young women dressed was influenced by the rock n roll craze.
Today, our fashion sense is way different than it was during that time period;
however, our fashion would not be the way it is today if it was not for the trends
that were popular throughout the fifties. In several ways, the nineteen fifties took a
turn in the fashion industry, especially for the woman. Before, while the men were
away fighting in World War II, women were sent to fill their spots in the factories.
At this point in time the way women dressed was heavily restricted to where they
must wear certain things, rather it be the length of their skirts to the size of their
collars; however, as women continued to work throughout the nineteen fifties, they
began to dress how they felt and dress more comfortable. Some popular fashion
trends during the nineteen fifties were poodle skirts for teenagers, slim pencil line
skirts for women, and saddle shoes. Stiletto heeled shoes also emerged in the early
nineteen fifties and there were a variety of different colors so you could get the pair
that match your shoes to your outfit. Women such as Audrey Hepburn helped inspire
the casual look, and Marilyn Monroe inspired tiny waistlines, full skirts, and busts.
On a different note, fashion for men during the nineteen fifties was very quiet and
conservative. Men mostly wore plain fabrics in dark, like blue, brown, and grey.
People were beginning to feel more freedom in the way that they dressed, their
rules were no longer as strict as they had been in the past and they could do what
they want; if they wanted to wear a dress that day they could, as well as they could
wear a skirt, or even pants. People no

Narrative Essay On Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre El Paso, Texas was a small quiet town. Anything and
everything modern like theaters and shopping malls were a long drive away and
there was one high school that everyone went to. This was where my parents were
from. We visited quite frequently and there was something unique about each
visit. One visit, it was a gloomy day at my Grandma s house and we were isolated
by the muddy and wet elements outside her walls. My brother and I were rotting
with boredom and we did not hesitate to make it known to our grandma and uncle.
Filled with frustration, my uncle quickly went to his room, came back out with an
old VHS tape, turned off the lights, and popped the tape in; with an activity finally
found for us to do, my grandma went to bed. I was filled with excitement, a cozy
movie night at Grandma s seemed like the perfect thing to do on a rainy evening
like this. My uncle reclined on the couch next to us and seemed to have smirk on
his face. My excitement then turned to curiosity and with this I asked, What are we
watching? My uncle replied with a grand smile on his face as he said, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre. My blood immediately went cold. I was too in shock to
protest, so I just sat on that couch and experienced the most terrifying hour and half
of my life. Watching that horrifying movie gave me a fear of my Grandma s house
because her house and backyard looked just something from the film. I also became
dreadfully afraid of the dark and of course
Precipitation Of Precipitation
Precipitation Analysis
With an average annual total rainfall of 53.1 inches, the six stations examined and
their mean rates of precipitation are consistent with the claim that the entire state of
Florida receives, on average, 54 inches of precipitation annually. Stations like Deland,
Inverness, High Springs and Canal Point differed little from the expected mean, while
Marathon Shores and Niceville deviated noticeably. This deviation, however, is
chiefly explained by the stations locations and the patterns of rainfall associated with
those positions. For example, Marathon Shore s aberration is likely due to the fact
that the area received comparatively less rainfall during the summer months of June
through September with a rather low mean ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Deland, Inverness and Canal Point, for example, are situated much closer to the coast
when compared to High Springs, and they exhibit a greater total annual precipitation
rate of 53.72 inches as opposed to High Spring s 52.27 inches and a greater annual
monthly mean of 4.48 inches compared to the 4.36 inches of High Springs. While
relatively small, this variance among precipitation rates is still great enough to
confirm the claim that most of the time, at least, stations located closer to the coast
experience overall higher mean monthly and mean annual precipitation rates.
Using the data collected solely from the selected six stations, a possible correlation is
unclear between the amount of precipitation received and the number of hurricane
strikes within a given area despite the claim made in the conceptual model. Niceville,
for instance, experiences the highest overall mean monthly and mean annual
precipitation of the six stations in addition to experiencing the highest mean
precipitation rate during the specified months of July through October with a mean of
6.68 inches, but according to the first map provided in the guidance document, it did
not experience the highest number of hurricane strikes. Between the years of 1900 to
2010, Niceville was hit but 10 to 12 hurricanes, but the station that received the least
amount of rain both in terms of mean monthly and mean annual precipitation and the
Credibility Was A Strength For Me

The book explains, a well designed conclusion can elevate a presentation from

presentation fall flat (279) . This is something I need to work on because I feel I
did great explaining my main points but from watching the video and putting
myself in the perspective of the audience I realized my ending was very weak. I
was to focused on memorizing the main points and details that I forgot about my
conclusion. The books makes great points that in order to allow the audience to
know when a conclusion is coming phrases like In conclusion , In summary , As I
close , or I would like to end with can all be good transition phrases. One more
weakness I would say was the lack of research to support my ideas. In regards to
how to gather a speech the book says the research you need in order to develop and
support your presentation can and should come from a variety of sources.
Depending on the topic, you must use internal sources, external sources, or a
combination of two (272) From watching the video I felt I used to many internal
sources and not enough external sources. I was disappointed because I had many
sources at hand but I didn t mention them as much as I would have liked because I
was so worried about forgetting my body of the speech. In order to improve this I
will have a sheet in front of me with the sources as a guide. I think I would have
been able to remember to mention the sources if I had a reminder in front of
Differences Between Types of Mouth Guards
In dentistry there are three main types of mouth guards. The first one is the Stock
mouth protector. This protector is preformed and it comes ready to wear immediately.
These ones can be bought at department stores and are fairly inexpensive. When you
get one of these guards it is not easy to adjust or fit in the mouth since they are sold at
stores. In some instances they do not offer or provide much safety or protection, and
with this dentist do not recommend these for their patients. Some other names for
guards include; bite plane, bite splint, gum guard, gum shield, mouth piece, mouth
protector, night guard, and occlusal splint. The second protector is the Boil and bite
mouth protector. This one is a little more fitting and helps protect the teeth. This one
you can also get at a store, but the difference between this protector and the stock
mouth protector is that this mouth piece is made out of a thermoplastic material.
This means that when you get this guard you put it into hot bowling water and then
put the piece in your mouth and it makes an impression around the teeth using your
finger and tongue to put pressure on it to form to your mouth. The third protector that
is used in dentistryis the Custom Fitted mouth protector. This protector is highly
recommended by dentist due to the fact that it is fitted and formed to your mouth in
a direct way. This is made inside a dental office after the assistant and or dentist make
a mold of your teeth and mouth.

ESS are defined as learning support software tools that provides direct on line access
to relevant summarised information in a useful and navigable format for the
organisation as a whole (Kelly 1994 Tech 2008).
The primary purpose of ESS at Sony is to support managerial learning about business
activities, its work processes, and its interaction with the external environment in the
form of a user friendly graphical interface. Informed managers can then ask better
questions and make better decisions. ESS are the most powerful managerial systems
developed at Sony from the rest of their systems and are hard to maintain (Fig.5).
ESS are easy to use usually touchpad and mouse driven but complex to develop
(Tech 2008). They are a benefit to Sony, especially tailoring to executives
information needs with relevant information, providing them with access to a broad
range of internal and external data including yearly aggregate and timely comparison
reports which aid in exploring the root causes of failures and problems at Sony. But
still there are issues of organizational behaviour and culture, perhaps the most deadly
barriers to effective Executive Information Systems. Because EIS is typically
positioned at the top management level of Sony, it can lead to drastic changes in
organizational direction. This in

For this reason, the NCLB act provides a safe harbor provision. This provision states
that as long as schools are showing progress, they will not be considered failing.
Failing would be if there was no academic progress by any group of students in which
No Child Left Behind Act there is funding for to close academic groups. The NCLB
seemed to be a promising act with more highly qualified teachers and accountability,
grants and assessment.
Arguments in favor of The goal of the NCLB act is one that almost everyone was
in favor of when it was proposed. In politics of the No Child Left Behind Act, Hess
and Petrilli state the bipartism support for the act. He gives the statistics of the
acceptance. They State that The U.S. Senate supported the new law 87 10 and the
House of Representative endorsed it 381 41. Republics supported the new law 44
3 in the senate and 183 33 in the House (para.2). People who are in favor of the
NCLB act have a reason to be so. They are in favor of it because of the
improvements in the test scores that have been seen nationally, the improvements that
have been made to the schools now versus when they were ran only by local
authorities. Those in favor agree with the idea of increased accountability and that
minorities need to have something
Parasympathetic Stimulation
The autonomic nervous system is an integrated controlling system that is responsible
for regulating and maintaining homeostasis for the optimal function of all internal
organs. Along with other major systems, the autonomic nervous system dictates the
status of the internal environment of the body and will make adjustments through
feedback loops based on internal and external changes detected. Understanding the
significance of manual autonomic regulation in a controlled setting will lay the
groundwork for future therapies in cardiovascular disease and many other diverse
diseases. We specifically wanted to test if unconscious stimulation of the vagus nerve
will be less inhibited than conscious stimulation and will parasympathetic stimulation

Strong vagal stimulation can decrease the strength of the heart muscle contraction by
20 to 30 percent (Hall, 2011 p.120). In a study done on canines under anesthesia,
sympathetic stimulation was inhibited when concurrent vagal activity was present
and cardiovascular effects seen included heart rate reduction by inhibition of the
sympathetic nervous system and by direct hyperpolarization of sinus nodal cells.
Vagal parasympathetic activation was shown to predominate over sympathetic
activation (Levy Zieske, 1969). This response is known as accentuated antagonism
(Olshansky et al. 2008). In the Contemporary Review of Cardiovascular Medicine
and Parasympathetic Nervous System and Heart Failure published by Dr. Brian
Olshansky and his colleagues at the University of Iowa, epidemiological data is
examined that indicates that the resting heart rate, a measure of vagus nerve function,
predicts mortality (Olshansky et
The Sacred Romance Analysis
The Sacred Romance which was written by Brent Curtis and John Eldredge talks
about the many different parts and how God made us to feel and have life
experiences that all effect our heart and how we perceive the world. One of the
biggest parts of the book include the author talking about his roots and where he
came from and this gave the whole book a more personal feel and when the author
becomes vulnerable with what he shares makes this book more personal for
everyone that reads the book. They talk about his life experiences and people that
have been put in his life to shape him and that was because of Gods will and design
for our lives. Within this book Curtis and Eldredge talk about this idea of arrows in
our life and they come in and changeourselves and there are all sorts of reasons for
having these and they will change our heart. Something that the author s channel
their whole book around is the love from God for people on earth and God says
that he even longs for us to be with him and have an intimate relationship with him.
Many of the parts of the book all relate back to the idea of arrows in our life,
sharing different life experiences that have influenced our life which could be
certain people or adventures, and how the different parts of the book all fit well with
each other. Through this book Curtis and Eldredge go through different parts of their
life story and they talk about the arrowsthat have changed them as a person. They
relate everything back to
The Nurse Play In Romeo And Juliet
In society a person who has inconsistent behavioral traits they are seen to be the
cause of more events than those with static behavioral patterns. These people have
many traits, but not one trait that is distinctly their own. Often their actions are hard
to predict and seem may seem random or uncalled for. In Romeo and Juliet by
William Shakespeareand the Baz Luhrmannfilm Romeo + Juliet, Nurse is one of these
characters. Her actions are often unpredictable. The Nurse s inconsistent traits all
come from the trust Juliet has in the Nurse and the influence over Juliet that comes
with trust. The Nurse helps Juliet, but then taunts her and causes Juliet to rethink
their relationship. In the film, the Nurse s costuming also plays a role in showing
inconsistency.
At the ball, after Romeo and Juliet first meet, Juliet asks the Nurse to find out the
identity of her new love. The Nurse informs Juliet, His name is Romeo, and a
Montague, / The only son of your great enemy. (Shakespeare 1.5.150 151) When
Juliet asks the Nurse to find out what her new love s name is, Juliet grows her
reliance on the Nurse. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Romeo and Juliet meet at the masquerade ball everyone is wearing a costume
that represents their trait. Romeo is a knight in shining armour, Tybalt is the devi,
and Capulet is Julius Caesar. But, the Nurse does not have a costume. (Luhrmann)
She is wearing the same house maid clothing that she had been wearing for much of
the film. This alludes to her not having a dominant trait. But the costumes of the
characters with a dominant trait exemplify their trait. This lack of a costume allows
the nurse who has a rather bland costume much of the time to quickly change
behavior without giving any indicators of when this will occur, This lack of a
dominant trait allows the Nurse to behave in different ways and is key to her
inconsistent behavior affecting the fate of
The Case Of The Ontario Securities Commission And...
Background
Incorporated in 1984, Research in Motion, Canada s most successful and influential
tech firm, used to be a market leader in mobile phone industry. However, the
company seems to be overtaken by a series of deep rooted dysfunction. RIM during
the past years had grown unwieldy and unorganized. Conflicting opinions and a lack
of clear direction worsened an already difficult situation. All of the evidence is
showing that the management of RIM has failed: a number of high level people left;
the market shares keep falling; product delayed; investors became angry; and an
internal chaos remained at this BlackBerry maker.
The 2006 governance reform at Rim seems not work well. There was not only the
non compliance with regulations or accounting errors, but also drastic fall of
company s shares due to strategic and operational issues. The probe of the Ontario
Securities Commission and Securities Stock Exchange Commission, along with the
concern of institutional investors, especially Northwest and Ethical investment,
forced RIM to look at its leadership and reform its board structure in 2011. This
paper will assess RIM s board structure in 2011 and present some recommendations to
improve RIM s governance and board structure.
RIM s Board Structure
The board structure of Research in Motion in 2007 was not stable (Ended March 3,
2007). There were 2 directors, 2 co CEOs James L. Balsillie and Michael Lazaridis.
And one of them, Balsillie served as Chair of the board at the
Human Inhumanity
Human experimentation is subjecting living beings to science experiments that can
sometimes be painful, cruel, deadly and risky. The human beings used in these
experiments have changed the lives of billions with advancements made in the
medical field, over the last two centuries, some of the subjects used in the
experiments have been compensated for the physical and emotional damage done
(Veracity,2). However, many have lost their lives due to the experiments. By
examining the cruelty and inhumanity that the people were treated during the
procedures of the experiments throughout history, the abuse of power of the doctors
performing experiments, and the permanent disabilities that some of the subjects
would experience for the rest of their lives, it is clear that the data gathered from
human experimentation it is not ethical, and shouldn t be used by future generation.
Human experimentation has been around for many centuries. Experiments have been
performed on willing and unwilling participants, some experiments were not harmful
to the subjects, while others caused distress, pain and even death to the subjects. An
unknown Auschwitz survivor wrote I suffered immense pain and cruelty from the
experiments. They were inhuman, but because of them, I survived... (The conference
on Jewish material claims against Germany,3). Subjects were often tested without
anesthesia or painkiller causing them a lot of pain, many subjects were not able to
survive these painful and cruel

Chinese people are used to a relatively strong hierarchical structure. Promotions at
work are in many cases based on age before ability. The young, in turn, are
deferential and
respectful to their older co workers and business associate, the advice and opinions
of an older worker are generally valued more than the words of a younger person. In
Lithuania there are differences between young entrepreneurs and older
businesspeople. Younger businesspeople generally have a less bureaucratic approach.
Management style in China tends towards the directive, with the senior manager
giving instructions to their direct reports who in turn pass on the instructions down
the line. It is not expected that subordinates will question the decisions of superiors
that would be to show disrespect and be the direct cause of loss of face (mianzi) for
all concerned. In a business negotiation or meeting setting space orientation will be
private more physical distance between individual participants and no physical
contact but office situation space is more large open spaces are filled with many
desks. п‚· Management strategies As a manager you should act in a more flexible,
improvised manner. If one wants to successfully coordinate work with a Chinese, one
tends to have more communication to stay in his mind. They tend to be conservative
in management and slow to change those things that are tied to the past. Lithuanian

However, the challenge lies in creating a piece that goes beyond the obvious and delves into meaningful insights. Firstly, the danger of clichГ©s looms large. Writing about dogs often triggers familiar tropes, such as loyalty, unconditional love, and companionship. Steering clear of these well-worn paths is essential to avoid a generic and uninteresting essay. Additionally, striking a balance between personal anecdotes and broader perspectives is a delicate task. While sharing personal stories can add authenticity, it's vital not to lose sight of the broader implications and themes related to dogs. A successful essay should not just be a collection of individual experiences but a cohesive exploration of the topic. Research is another aspect that adds complexity. Addressing the historical, cultural, and scientific aspects of dogs requires thorough investigation. Integrating this information seamlessly into the essay, without making it sound like a dry report, requires skill and finesse. Furthermore, avoiding sentimentality while still capturing the emotional essence of the bond between humans and dogs is a tightrope walk. Striking the right emotional chord without becoming overly sentimental can be challenging but is crucial for a well-rounded and impactful essay. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Dog Essay Writing" demands more than a surface-level exploration. It necessitates a nuanced approach, a careful selection of details, and an ability to transcend clichГ©s. Only with these elements in place can the essay truly capture the multifaceted nature of the relationship between humans and their canine companions. Case Studies Of Mexico And Rwanda The Achievability of Universal Healthcare Coverage Case Studies of Mexico and Rwanda In this paper I use a case study approach to discuss the feasibility of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in low and middle income countries. First, I define UHC and contextualize it within the goals of a health system. Then, I describe healthcare reforms aimed at achieving UHC in one middle income country Mexico and one low income country Rwanda. Through these descriptions, I attempt to identify common patterns that promote UHC by analyzing three dimensions of healthcare reform: the contextual factors; the health services design, implementation, and evaluation; and the financing. Defining Health System Goals and Universal Health Coverage There are many different frameworks to define the purpose of a health system, many of which contain very similar concepts.1 For purposes of this paper, I use the health system goals described by Murray and Frenk.2 Murray and Frenk define three intrinsic goals of a healthcare system: 1) health, 2) responsiveness (respect for persons and client satisfaction), and 3) fair financing.2 For these goals, both averages and distributions are important.2,3 For example, it is not enough for a healthcare system if the average health of a population is good, but the level of health is poor in some subpopulations. The goal of the healthcare system is also equal distribution of health outcomes. UHC is an approach by which a healthcare system may achieve the goals

Yet, they had power over different lands, and their military approach was different. Starting with Chartage, it became a political and economic power even before Rome. Its government regulation, was similar to Rome: there were two chief magistrates, and a consult of elders which can be compared to Roman Senate (Morey, 1901). By the way, at the time of the First Punic War, whilst Rome was experiencing its highest level of political life, Carthage was beginning the decreasing phase. In addition, Rome did not have a strong military leader, in fact during the Second Punic War, after the killing of Fabius Maximus at Lake Trasumenus (Morey, 1901), the Roman Senate decided to appoint Q. The expansion of Carthage was outstanding, it occurred quickly because of its great strategy and because of the lack of strategy from Rome. Rome had very patriotic soldiers, but not great military leaders as Carthage had. Hannibal had the great intuition to hit Rome while Rome was planning to fight Carthage in Spain and Africa. Because of such strategy, Rome found itself surrounded both from north and south. Carthage was very smart in making alleys at north with the Gauls, which had been defeated from romans in the past, and that therefore where great enemies, and in the south, with Sicily and Apulia. It is my opinion that the destruction of Rome has been avoided also because of its great walls. Without walls, probably, Rome would have been violated as it happened with Gauls, just two centuries before. It is at this point that Rome, and most of all romans, shew their patriotism, and decided that

  • 7. Global Drug Policy The global policy on drugs has one main concern, as maintained in the first clause of the 1961 UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs: promoting the health and welfare of mankind (United Nations, 1961). The convention and global drug policy actors have asserted through the years that drugs pose a threat to this concern, and so an integrated effort to reduce supply, demand and trafficking of said narcotics is the desired course of action (High Level segment Commission on Narcotic Drugs, 2009). It seems that this course of action became an end of itself instead of a mean to an end of health and welfare, as mounting evidence shows that the actions taken to achieve this have not only been ineffective in reducing supply, demand and trafficking; they have also created severe violations of human rights, alongside criminalization, a hazard to public health, and drugcartels which pose a very real threat to peace and security. Member states have not been oblivious to the fact that the measures taken have been counterproductive, and an increasing number of states are dissatisfied with the results of this policy (Doward, 2013). Some have addressed this by decriminalizing possession and use of drugs and introducing harm reduction programs, considering the issue of demand not a criminal issue but a public health one. The evidence in favor of such programs was acknowledged by international bodies such as WHO and UNODC, emphasizing that reducing demand should be done through means of
  • 8. What Is The Theme Of The Waste Land The Waste Land, published in 1922, is a 434 line poem by T.S. Eliot. It is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest poems of the 20th century, and an important text in Modernist poetry (wiki). Because it makes use of several allusions and quotations in different languages and of different cultures, and also shifts between speakers, location, and time abruptly and unannounced, critics regard the poem as obscure and fragmented, nothing more than a chaotic assemblage of Eliot s thoughts. Consequently, The Waste Landhas been the cause of more consternation and controversy than any other poem of the twentieth century. To some readers, it appears to be staggeringly esoteric; a medley of voices; a music of allusions; and a palimpsest or layered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The epigraph tells the story of Sybil, having wished for eternal life, forgot to wish for eternal youth and thus begs to be granted death. Eliot begins with this epigraph to tell us that civilization needs to die in order to be reborn anew (Childs, 1999, p. 75). The Burial of the Dead shares an image of the modern world as dry and infertile. Here, Eliot compares modern society to the Fisher King s infertile waste land and calls for the need for a spiritual awakening. A Game of Chess speaks of sexual indifference, abuse, violation, adultery, and abortion. Eliot specifically targets the mundane routine of marital power play, thus comparing couples in the 20th century to mechanical beings, sordidly indifferent to sex and love. The Fire Sermon , evoking St. Augustine s Confessions and Buddha s Fire Sermon, moves on to the necessity of purging of feelings of anger, revenge, hatred, jealousy, and passion in order to be born a new. Death by Water speaks of Phlebas the Phoenician, a dead soldier who decays at the bottom on an ocean. This brings the reader back to the account of Madame Sosotris in section one who warned Fear death by water (line 55). Ironically, Eliot does not warn the reader of death by actual drowning, but by death due to a lack of water in this modern, barren waste land. Finally, What the Thunder Said partially relieves the poem s dread; it initially speaks of the agony in this modern day waste

Dehydration Of Sulfuric Acid And Phosphoric Acid Dehydration of 2 methylcyclohexanol Authors: Johnny Presley Abstract: Dehydration of 2 methylcyclohexanol to 3 methylcyclohexene is simple distillation where dehydration was used to prepare the final product. The results of the experiment showed that the 3 methylcyclohexene was formed via an E1 reaction from 2 methylcyclohexanol with a 1:1 ratio of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid. However, some H2O was left over, which was seen when we look at the IR and see a small water peak. This could be due to the fact that not enough sodium sulfate was added and not for long enough. These results were confirmed by the quality tests that showed that a precipitate formed when KMnO4 was added to the solution and in the IR spectroscopy peaks showed peaks at 3022.62cm 1 which matches an alkene, further showing that the formation of 3 methylcyclohexene was successful with a percent yield of 56.46%. Introduction: The major reaction that happened was an E1 reaction (otherwise known as a unimolecular elimination reaction). In this reaction the removal of an HX substituent group results in the formation of a double bond via beta hydrogen elimination4. In an E1 reaction the deprotonation of hydrogen in the beta position occurs and from here a carbocation is formed, which results in the formation of an alkene product. This happens when the OH group on the 2 methylcyclohexanol is hydrated by H2SO4, which allows the OH to become an H2O. Since H20 is a better leaving group now it will

The price reduction of oil remained consistent and very low until a few months ago when the oil market underwent scrutiny for its high level of output. Since then, the price of oil has been extremely turbulent; experiencing record highs for the year, but following with plummeting values the very next day. Many factors, internal and external to the United States, account for the change in supply and demandof oil internationally and these factors will subsequently cause the price of oil to decrease to 48 dollars from 50. Summary Of Rohinton Mistry And A Fine Balance Shakespeare s tragedy King Lear discusses how people quickly blame fate for events that are actually the fault of their own actions, saying that, This is the excellent foppery of the world... when we are sick in fortune, often the surfeits of our own behaviour, we make guilty of our disasters the sun, the moon, and the stars: as if we were villains by necessity (Edmund, King Lear). Similarly, A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry demonstrates that the joys, injustices, and cruelties present in the characters lives happen due to circumstances beyond their control, such as government regulations and the societal traditions and systems surrounding them everyday. Amidst the political turmoil and uproar of the Emergency in India, Rohinton Mistry depicts the lives of good, everyday people as they struggle to gain stable footing in a highly corrupt and hierarchical society. In this depiction of various characters living in Indian society, Mistry portrays how India s deeply rooted societal traditions and systems create an indirect line of causalities that disguises itself as fate. Mistry demonstrates how the characters defiance of traditional Indian gender roles creates a line of causalities that ultimately determine the character s path. Mistry contextualizes these gender roles when he describes that, It was hard for [wives] not to be resentful the birth of daughters often brought them beatings from their husbands and their husband s families (Mistry 100). The author includes this quote to demonstrate the considerably large extent to which males hold power and priority in Indian society, thus making women nearly impotent with the exception of Dina, which may explain why the author gives her a central role in the novel. Therefore, the defiance of gender roles which the society in which they live considers as a crime since the values of misogyny have invaded their worldview is dangerous, but represented in the character of Dina Dalal. Dina was quickly widowed, but Mistry depicts her as a strong woman who struggles to keep her independence in a society that expects her to be subordinate to another man. Even after many years since her husband s death, Dina s brother, Nusswan, compares her life to watching

In order for the AARP to achieve its political goals, it is vital that they are able to influence public opinion. The primary way the group goes about this is by producing and airing major television programs that focus on issues such as federal tax reform and social security. Without the media, the AARP would have far less impact on political decision making. Recently, the AARP has come under scrutiny of the United States Senate, led by Senator Alan K. • 23. Hamlet s Treatment Towards Gertrude Hamlet s treatment towards Gertrude (mother) is not unreasonable but the way Hamlet treats Ophelia is a little harsh in the beginning when she is completely innocent. Further along through the play Hamlet s treatment towards Ophelia can be considered reasonable since she basically decided to side with Claudius and Polonius. The way in which Hamlettreats Gertrudeand Ophelia doesn t seem to be a part of the misogyny in the culture. Hamlet does seem to possess a great hatred for women, especially the women in his close circle of peers. The hatred he has for women is strong and visible to readers. The way Hamlet treats Gertrude is completely just. Hamlet feels his mother has betrayed him because she married his father s murderer shortly after his father was killed. Hamlet expected his mother, the loving wife of his deceased father, to grieve and never marry again or at least not after two months but Gertrude did. Also, by Gertrude marrying a bad man such as Claudius has caused Hamlet to believe that Gertrude is a bad person and she is not to be trusted. Hamlet thinks that his mother may have been a part of his father s murder. Hamlet treats her just as he treats Claudius because Hamlet feels Gertrude is no better. Hamlet has the right to be angry and expresses it the way he seems fit and his mother deserves such treatment. Gertrude did move rather quickly after Hamlet s father passed and she didn t seem to be fazed by his father s death anymore. If the readers were in
  • 24. Worship As A Form Of Worship In The Church Church bells ring, it is time for Sunday School. Children and teenagers sit in classrooms scattered throughout a church, Grace Church of the Nazarene. Bibles are either on the tables or in the children and teenagers laps as they begin class. The Sunday School teacher, Bible in hand, begins the class and starts out asking, How do you define worship? The children and teens begin to stare at each other or look down at their hands in silence as the teacher waits for them to ponder the question more. After a few minutes a brave soul raises his hand, slowly but surely. The teacher, relieved the silence is about to be broken, calls upon him. The child responds with, Is it when we sing in big church? The teacher, smiling largely, informs the child that singing in big church is part of worship, but is not the only form of worship. Today children and teenagers are asked the question above a lot in church and typically answer the same way the child did. Although that may be the main answer they give that is only a portion of what worship is. Worship is the act of honoring God. Whether it is through singing in big church or doing chores at home, if one is honoring God it is worship. Merriam Webster defines worship as a form of religious practice with its creed and ritual, and extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem. Putting both definitions of worship together it would be defined as honoring an object God in this case and being devoted to

While this mass production of media and various stories is a reflection of our corporations that also can relate to our greedy demand for more and more of everything. We are only human and so are those in mediatrying to master the masses. The last page of Gladstone s The Influencing Machine ends with one sentence: We get the media we deserve (p.156). The media is a reflection of companies run by people trying to create what we want. Consumption of media is not mandatory, but we urge for more and more. Media caters to the consumers desires and reflects many of our beliefs. This is all well deserved and supported through our interaction with the media. The media is a complex term thrown around holding various meanings to those who hear it. However, media is just plural for medium. A medium for communication. Media has become as complex as we are and so are our interactions. According to Gladstone, the media landscape is so cluttered with mirrors facing mirrors that we can t tell where an image begins or ends (xxi). Everything within our society and even our bodies are interconnected and our media has become a product of this. But this interconnectedness makes it increasingly more difficult to decipher the media available to us. Similarly, it takes years for doctors to understand the connections within our bodies. We are a complicated, entangled people and we wouldn t be satisfied with simple media. However, this leads to controversy and confusion within the webs of media. Likewise, there are always conflicts within our society. We cannot always catch up to the adaptations of media, but the media also struggles to interpret us. Societies are always adapting and making new advancements. Most recent technological advances are inescapable whether that be smartphones or electric cars. With the internet s widespread accessibility increasing, the media available online feels endless. We currently indulge in a consumer based society, and our needs of craving more leak into our media. Honor And Glory By Homer Steven Exum Mr. Lipscomb AP Literature and Composition, B Period October 5, 2015 Honor and Glory The idea of obtaining honor and glory are what Greek characters dedicate their lives to. The Greeks lived by a heroic code, which shaped their society. Being remembered, as a great warrior, is one of the highest honors a Greek soldier can obtain. Honor and glory are the cause of the Trojan War, which takes the lives of many men. Honor and Glory are what define the hero in the epic poem, The Iliad, written by Homer. Throughout the Iliad, honor and glory is the motivation behind the characters, there are different ways to obtain honor and glory, and the different views of honor throughout the epic poem. The idea of honor and glory are essential to understanding the motivation behind the characters in the Iliad. Glory was gained by the heroic actions and deeds. The best opportunity to gain honor was during a battle. A warrior would try and obtain honor during the battle, no matter the cost. The importance of honor can be seen in Hector s final battle when he says, Let me not then die ingloriously and without a struggle, but let me first do some great thing that shall be told among men hereafter. (Homer, Iliad 22.232) Hector has accepted that he will die at the hand of Achilles. However, he wishes to be remembered as a great warrior of Troy. In several ways, the nineteen fifties took a turn in the fashion industry, especially for the woman. Before, while the men were away fighting in World War II, women were sent to fill their spots in the factories. At this point in time the way women dressed was heavily restricted to where they must wear certain things, rather it be the length of their skirts to the size of their collars; however, as women continued to work throughout the nineteen fifties, they began to dress how they felt and dress more comfortable. Stiletto heeled shoes also emerged in the early nineteen fifties and there were a variety of different colors so you could get the pair that match your shoes to your outfit. Women such as Audrey Hepburn helped inspire the casual look, and Marilyn Monroe inspired tiny waistlines, full skirts, and busts. Stations like Deland, Inverness, High Springs and Canal Point differed little from the expected mean, while Marathon Shores and Niceville deviated noticeably. This deviation, however, is chiefly explained by the stations locations and the patterns of rainfall associated with those positions. While relatively small, this variance among precipitation rates is still great enough to confirm the claim that most of the time, at least, stations located closer to the coast experience overall higher mean monthly and mean annual precipitation rates. This protector is preformed and it comes ready to wear immediately. These ones can be bought at department stores and are fairly inexpensive. When you get one of these guards it is not easy to adjust or fit in the mouth since they are sold at stores. In some instances they do not offer or provide much safety or protection, and with this dentist do not recommend these for their patients. Some other names for guards include; bite plane, bite splint, gum guard, gum shield, mouth piece, mouth protector, night guard, and occlusal splint. The second protector is the Boil and bite mouth protector. This one is a little more fitting and helps protect the teeth. This one you can also get at a store, but the difference between this protector and the stock mouth protector is that this mouth piece is made out of a thermoplastic material. This means that when you get this guard you put it into hot bowling water and then put the piece in your mouth and it makes an impression around the teeth using your finger and tongue to put pressure on it to form to your mouth. The third protector that is used in dentistryis the Custom Fitted mouth protector. This protector is highly recommended by dentist due to the fact that it is fitted and formed to your mouth in a direct way. This is made inside a dental office after the assistant and or dentist make a mold of your teeth and mouth.

Parasympathetic Stimulation The autonomic nervous system is an integrated controlling system that is responsible for regulating and maintaining homeostasis for the optimal function of all internal organs. Along with other major systems, the autonomic nervous system dictates the status of the internal environment of the body and will make adjustments through feedback loops based on internal and external changes detected. Understanding the significance of manual autonomic regulation in a controlled setting will lay the groundwork for future therapies in cardiovascular disease and many other diverse diseases. We specifically wanted to test if unconscious stimulation of the vagus nerve will be less inhibited than conscious stimulation and will parasympathetic stimulation then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strong vagal stimulation can decrease the strength of the heart muscle contraction by 20 to 30 percent (Hall, 2011 p.120). In a study done on canines under anesthesia, sympathetic stimulation was inhibited when concurrent vagal activity was present and cardiovascular effects seen included heart rate reduction by inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system and by direct hyperpolarization of sinus nodal cells. Vagal parasympathetic activation was shown to predominate over sympathetic activation (Levy Zieske, 1969). This response is known as accentuated antagonism (Olshansky et al. 2008). In the Contemporary Review of Cardiovascular Medicine and Parasympathetic Nervous System and Heart Failure published by Dr. Brian Olshansky and his colleagues at the University of Iowa, epidemiological data is examined that indicates that the resting heart rate, a measure of vagus nerve function, predicts mortality (Olshansky et
  • 43. The Sacred Romance Analysis The Sacred Romance which was written by Brent Curtis and John Eldredge talks about the many different parts and how God made us to feel and have life experiences that all effect our heart and how we perceive the world. One of the biggest parts of the book include the author talking about his roots and where he came from and this gave the whole book a more personal feel and when the author becomes vulnerable with what he shares makes this book more personal for everyone that reads the book. They talk about his life experiences and people that have been put in his life to shape him and that was because of Gods will and design for our lives. Within this book Curtis and Eldredge talk about this idea of arrows in our life and they come in and changeourselves and there are all sorts of reasons for having these and they will change our heart. Something that the author s channel their whole book around is the love from God for people on earth and God says that he even longs for us to be with him and have an intimate relationship with him. Many of the parts of the book all relate back to the idea of arrows in our life, sharing different life experiences that have influenced our life which could be certain people or adventures, and how the different parts of the book all fit well with each other. • 44. The Nurse Play In Romeo And Juliet In society a person who has inconsistent behavioral traits they are seen to be the cause of more events than those with static behavioral patterns. These people have many traits, but not one trait that is distinctly their own. Often their actions are hard to predict and seem may seem random or uncalled for. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeareand the Baz Luhrmannfilm Romeo + Juliet, Nurse is one of these characters. Her actions are often unpredictable. The Nurse s inconsistent traits all come from the trust Juliet has in the Nurse and the influence over Juliet that comes with trust. The Nurse helps Juliet, but then taunts her and causes Juliet to rethink their relationship. In the film, the Nurse s costuming also plays a role in showing inconsistency. At the ball, after Romeo and Juliet first meet, Juliet asks the Nurse to find out the identity of her new love. The Nurse informs Juliet, His name is Romeo, and a Montague, / The only son of your great enemy. (Shakespeare 1.5.150 151) When Juliet asks the Nurse to find out what her new love s name is, Juliet grows her reliance on the Nurse. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Romeo and Juliet meet at the masquerade ball everyone is wearing a costume that represents their trait. Romeo is a knight in shining armour, Tybalt is the devi, and Capulet is Julius Caesar. But, the Nurse does not have a costume. (Luhrmann) She is wearing the same house maid clothing that she had been wearing for much of the film. This alludes to her not having a dominant trait. But the costumes of the characters with a dominant trait exemplify their trait. This lack of a costume allows the nurse who has a rather bland costume much of the time to quickly change behavior without giving any indicators of when this will occur, This lack of a dominant trait allows the Nurse to behave in different ways and is key to her inconsistent behavior affecting the fate of
  • 45. The Case Of The Ontario Securities Commission And... Background Incorporated in 1984, Research in Motion, Canada s most successful and influential tech firm, used to be a market leader in mobile phone industry. However, the company seems to be overtaken by a series of deep rooted dysfunction. RIM during the past years had grown unwieldy and unorganized. Conflicting opinions and a lack of clear direction worsened an already difficult situation. All of the evidence is showing that the management of RIM has failed: a number of high level people left; the market shares keep falling; product delayed; investors became angry; and an internal chaos remained at this BlackBerry maker. The 2006 governance reform at Rim seems not work well. There was not only the non compliance with regulations or accounting errors, but also drastic fall of company s shares due to strategic and operational issues. The probe of the Ontario Securities Commission and Securities Stock Exchange Commission, along with the concern of institutional investors, especially Northwest and Ethical investment, forced RIM to look at its leadership and reform its board structure in 2011. This paper will assess RIM s board structure in 2011 and present some recommendations to improve RIM s governance and board structure. RIM s Board Structure The board structure of Research in Motion in 2007 was not stable (Ended March 3, 2007). There were 2 directors, 2 co CEOs James L. Balsillie and Michael Lazaridis. And one of them, Balsillie served as Chair of the board at the

The human beings used in these experiments have changed the lives of billions with advancements made in the medical field, over the last two centuries, some of the subjects used in the experiments have been compensated for the physical and emotional damage done (Veracity,2). However, many have lost their lives due to the experiments. By examining the cruelty and inhumanity that the people were treated during the procedures of the experiments throughout history, the abuse of power of the doctors performing experiments, and the permanent disabilities that some of the subjects would experience for the rest of their lives, it is clear that the data gathered from human experimentation it is not ethical, and shouldn t be used by future generation. Human experimentation has been around for many centuries. Experiments have been performed on willing and unwilling participants, some experiments were not harmful to the subjects, while others caused distress, pain and even death to the subjects. An unknown Auschwitz survivor wrote I suffered immense pain and cruelty from the experiments. They were inhuman, but because of them, I survived... (The conference on Jewish material claims against Germany,3). Subjects were often tested without anesthesia or painkiller causing them a lot of pain, many subjects were not able to survive these painful and cruel

Chinese people are used to a relatively strong hierarchical structure. Promotions at work are in many cases based on age before ability. The young, in turn, are deferential and respectful to their older co workers and business associate, the advice and opinions of an older worker are generally valued more than the words of a younger person. In Lithuania there are differences between young entrepreneurs and older businesspeople. Younger businesspeople generally have a less bureaucratic approach. Management style in China tends towards the directive, with the senior manager giving instructions to their direct reports who in turn pass on the instructions down the line. It is not expected that subordinates will question the decisions of superiors that would be to show disrespect and be the direct cause of loss of face (mianzi) for all concerned. In a business negotiation or meeting setting space orientation will be private more physical distance between individual participants and no physical contact but office situation space is more large open spaces are filled with many desks. п‚· Management strategies As a manager you should act in a more flexible, improvised manner. If one wants to successfully coordinate work with a Chinese, one tends to have more communication to stay in his mind. They tend to be conservative in management and slow to change those things that are tied to the past. Lithuanian managers
