The Components of Mishel’s Uncertainty of Illness Theory...
BACKGROUND
Mishel s Uncertainty of Illness Theory is a middle range theory (Black, 2014). This means the
theory is not overly broad or narrow. The theory was developed from studying men with prostate
cancer who were watchfully waiting for the advancing signs of their disease (Black, 2014). The
theory has three main components, which incorporate: the antecedents of uncertainty, impaired
cognitive appraisal, and coping with uncertainty in illness (Neville, 2003). The antecedents of
Mishel s theory are the stimulus frame, cognitive capacities and event congruence (Neville, 2003).
The stimulus frame concerns three parts including: symptom pattern, event familiarity and event
congruency (Neville, 2003). Symptom pattern may be when symptoms of ... Show more content on

This study is based on uncertainty management intervention (UMI) treatment option. The
candidates for the study were men who are 65 and older with a low stage and grade prostate disease.
The UMI study used a system of nursing telephone follow up care to help patients with their
psychosocial and educational disease needs (Kazer, Whittemore, Baily, 2010). The nursing
intervention with the patients focused on helping the patients examine illness related events and
restructure their beliefs... to incorporate uncertainty into a new life view. (Kazer, Whittemore Baily,
2010) The nursing intervention s goal was to create a cognitive plan from events that are uncertain
and use the plan to change their view of the uncontrollable situation presented to them.
Miho Suzuki s study aimed to explore the relationships between uncertainty and the quality of life
in patients with head and neck cancer in pre and post treatment periods. Suzuki intended to discover
whether patients with head and neck cancer experience less uncertainty when they think they are
able to express their concerns to their doctor. Also, Suzuki wanted to assess if the patients
experienced less uncertainty when involved with treatment decision making and sufficient
information about symptoms. Suzuki used a prospective correlational

J.M Coetzee s The Harms of Pornography
J.M Coetzee s The Harms of Pornography
As the debate over pornography and its place in society grows hotter every day, several authors in
particular shed a new light on the subject. Both their intuition and insight involving their beliefs can
help the reader a great deal in seeing aspects of this debate that might have otherwise gone without
the consideration that they so deserve. I believe that pornography is not only okay, but is allowing
our country to take a step back and ask ourselves how far we are willing to go and what we are
willing to sacrifice in order to preserve free speech and our rights to personal choice. The argument
over pornography is not merely the debate over right or wrong, but also involves the theory ... Show

Coetzee goes to great lengths to bring to light indescrepancies and unclarified ideas throughout
MacKinnon s article. One of Coetzee s most prominent points is that the differences between
obscenity and pornography go far beyond a difference in term based on either political or moral
argument.
While at times Coetzee seems to generally disagree with or at least greatly challenge MacKinnon
s ideas, there are times at which the two authors trains of thought almost seem to coincide. One
such issue would be that MacKinnon is not necessarily looking to hunt out all occurrences of
pornography in today s literature and media, but to snuff out the commercial end of it. The end
that makes billions based on women being used by men, and does nothing at all to improve their
social standing in our society. But why must everything be used to bolster the social position of
women? It is this topic specifically that seems to have gone un argued by Coetzee. Coetzee s
stand on this issue of pornography and obscenity as a part of today s culture is never quite
addressed may very well remain a mystery to the reader. From many of the author s statements and
criticism s of MacKinnon, one could gather that he takes a much more liberal stand and yet
somehow successfully avoids pressing his opinions. He also does a wonderful

Freshwater Fishing Vs. Fresh Water Fishing
Salt water fishing vs fresh water fishing Remember when you were a little kid waking up at 5 in
the morning just to go fishing. You re just hoping that today will be the day to catch the big one.
You re out there just waiting for something to hit your line. No matter whether salt water fishing or
fresh water fishing, it will meet every fisherman s or woman s dreams. It doesn t matter if you re
out on the lake or on the ocean, you are always guaranteed to have a good time and make
memories. When fishing either salt water or fresh water you think about what kind of fish you
are trying to catch. One of the most commanded fish fresh water fish people think of is catfish.
They can range from 1 pound up to 60 pounds depending on how old they are. Catfish spend
most of their time swimming on the bottom of lakes or rivers and they will usually eat
everything. Catfish are usually dark in color, so dark that they look brown. If you re more into
the sport side of fishing, the first kind of fresh water fish you think about is a large or small
mouth bass. They usually like to chase their prey down, but they don t wonder to far from their
home. These fish lie around the bank waiting for a chance to eat. Bass color markings usually
consist of bright and light green. The weight range of bass can be between a one half pound to
ten pounds. An example of salt water fish is Mahi Mahi. They are very bright in colors; they vary
from dark blue, to light yellow, to spots of green. A

The Theory Of Human Development Essay
Human development does not exist in stasis it is constantly in flux. The outcomes of human
development are intrinsically linked to overarching power structures, and include psychological
dimensions including social recognition. Thus, development is dynamic and highly contextualised
it is governed by socio economic class, domestic politics, geographical location, and the wider
institutional context. Working within a particular framework requires acknowledging that concepts
of human developmentare implicated in the power structures which govern policies. Yet, human
development is not fixed in numerical measures of development, but rather, the outcomes of human
capitalare heavily influenced by the social context in which development occurs. Brazil s economic
growth and shifts in the wake of structural adjustment have coincided with the wider shifts in
development rhetoric which emphasize inclusive economic growth and human development. Yet,
whether new social safety nets provide will eventually provide an avenue for increased political
participation and growing social mobility remains speculative. Distinguishing social welfare from
human capital accumulation, I will argue CCTs, as social safety net policies emphasis on data
collection constitutes a thin approach to welfare. Then I will propose that the extension of service
provision, CCT programmes could build human capital accumulation. However, due to the
overarching political drivers of statist and

The twentieth century presented Christianity with dizzying political and cultural challenges. A
lively and articulate Christianity in former mission fields and dissatisfaction among American
evangelicals produced new movements. The turmoil of the twentieth century proved a trying time
for Christianity. Due to global spread, there were Christians on all sides of nearly every major
conflict of the century. There were two world wars; the use of nuclear bombs in Japan, there was
also wars in Korea and Vietnam. There were anti colonial conflicts in Latin America, North Africa,
Sub Saharan Africa, and the Middle East Marxist governments came to power and enforced secular
culture throughout the historic areas of the Eastern Churches and in China. Christians were
challenged to redefine their morals and their ideologies in response to these upheavals. There were
newer movements that also emerged in the twentieth century such as ecumenism, liberation
theology, Pentecostalism, and fundamentalism (McGrath 2007). The spirit of ecumenism is nearly
as old as Christianity itself. The First Ecumenical Council at Nicaea in 325 was called because
bishops came from all parts if the Christian world. In 1910, several missionary societies convened a
meeting in Scotland designed to develop a common missionary strategy that could contribute to the
healing of divisions and coordinate a mutual commitment to action and service to the world (Shelly
2008). From 1910

That s exactly what the seal hunt in Canada is; Inhumane. The seal hunt in Canada kills thousands
of seals annually every year. Pups are killed at about two weeks of age or three months of age. Seals
are supposedly killed for their fur, oil, and meat. Seal hunting should be stopped in Canada because
of the harm towards the seals.
The killings are inhumane. Sealers use clubs, sticks, guns, and spikes to murder seals, and it is
not a quick death for the seals. Because most of the seals killed are pups, they have no way of
escaping their death. Other seals can be mistaken for pups and be killed in the process. The

The War Of The Soviet Revolution
THIS WAS THE WAY the war was suppose to end: with cheers, handshakes, dancing, drinking,
and hope (Gaddis, 5). The tragedy was this: that victory would require the victors either to cease
to be who they were, or to give up much of what they had hoped, by fighting the war, to attain
(Gaddis, 6). As a curious reporter for the State Department, I began to see the destruction that the
war caused not only within the aspects of American society, but also within the world as a
whole. At the end of WWII, the allies had initially won the war and therefore believed that terms
of a world based around normality would once again prevail. However, As a consequence, the
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was, at the end of World War II, the most authoritarian
society anywhere on the face of the earth (Gaddis, 8). It was during this time that Stalin had
begun to make it clear that the days of victory would not endure within his country or any
country if all of the power was granted to him. As a reporter, not only did I see the ending of one
era of war, but also the beginning of another. The only difference in this war was that it relied upon
other countries willingness to ultimately give up their power in order for the nations to once again
become ruled by a powerful leader. In this case, the ultimate leader was Stalin and through his
powerful tactics, he would proclaim his victory by the spreading of communism, in an effort to gain
ultimate control not only of the countries

Conflicts Within A Group And How A Manager Can Bring Up...
Conflicts can happen in everyday life with people and in organizations. Conflicts need to be
handled so that the situation does not escalate further. Most people look at conflicts as a bad
situation, but not all conflicts are bad, some are good, especially when discussing an idea within a
group. In an organization there are times when a conflictmay need to happen for an issue to be
resolved, but when this happens the people involved need to look at if this conflict is really
necessary to resolve the issue. How to address conflicts in a group and how a manager can bring
up the conflict without making them worse is what will be discussed next. At many jobs there
are projects given that have to be completed in groups and they re more than likely is going to be
people within the group that do not necessarily agree on how the project should be completed.
This can cause a conflict to arise and to resolve this conflict requires all members of the group to
have a say in the resolution. To ensure sufficient discussion of contentious issues in a work group,
I would have one person be in charge of the group. This person would make sure that everyone had
a turn to give their input and I would make it known to all the group members that what is said
cannot be held against the person who says it. When managers need to bring up unspoken conflicts
into the open without making them worse, it may be best to have a third party present that can
ensure that the issue is addressed

Is Huck Finn A Hero
What makes a true American hero? A hero is someone admired for their achievements and
qualities, or one who shows great courage. Heroes are looked up to by many for their
selflessness or actions in situations. In Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
Huck Finn is a true hero. His actions throughout the story help define him as such. Huckleberry
Finn is a hero because he is clever, loyal, and moral. One heroic characteristic of Huck is his
cleverness. As young boy, he fakes his own death to escape from his father. To fool everyone,
Huck smartly kills a pig and spreads its blood around Pap s cabin in an effort to make it appear
as though robbers had murdered him. This scheme affords Huck all the time he needs to make
his getaway and makes everyone think that he s dead. Huck Finn cleverly makes up stories to
get himself out of trouble. For example, when a couple of men insist on checking out Huck s
raft, he pretends as though his father is sick with smallpox to keep the men from getting too
close. At the Grangerford s, Huck forgets his false name and tricks Buck Grangerford into telling
him. I bet you can t spell my name (Twain 75). Buck accepts the dare and spells out what Huck
said was his name. Huck is not only cunning, but also faithful to his friends. Huckleberry Finn is
a loyal person. While on Jackson s island, Huck warns Jim of a search party instead of turning him
in. Even though Huck is breaking the law, this early sign of loyalty toward Jim is

Most major sites have expertise in the area they talk about and will back up their claims with
quotes from highly regarded professionals. As a result of the heavy social media usage among
the upcoming generation combined with the fact that large quantities of people gather their
information from these social media sites, it is imperative that the issue of fake news is
addressed. The social media platform is the ideal breeding grounds for fake news since
information can be spread with the click of a button with little to no fact checking. The reader
must remember that fake news exists solely to provoke a response and if the material seems
outlandish or impractical, then it probably is. One way to address the growing problem is to

Utopian Urbanism That Forms Utopic Degeneration
From recent years, utopian urbanism connects with the so called crisis of modernist urbanism
that forms utopic degeneration. Utopia has developed to mean a community with a visionary
system of political and societal perfection, where cities that function to improve the daily lives
of its citizens; an ideal society, However these concepts are more often than not depicted as an
impossible dream, yet too bold, too radical to ever exist in real life. Some utopian visions are
focused on new technology, whereas others are on intact landscapes. In other occasions, some are
based on new social orders, but all were combined under a radical avant garde and progressive
architecture. It is this, their new and bold concepts that drive the imagination of architects and town
planners. Although rarely realized in full, principles from some utopian visions have been adopted
in part and have had significant influence on existing cities such as New York, Chandigarh and
Paris. They are a catalyst for generating ideas and new forms of thinking that leads to, for better or
for worse the many innovations in 21st century urban planning. Since utopian thinking can produce
a vision of the future that is achievable, what is the connection between having a vision of the
future, whether achievable or not, and utopian thinking?
The concept of utopia, derived from Thomas Mores, in his famous text in 1516 where he refers a
place as to both somewhere good and to nowhere. The connections between utopian

Henry V Theme Of War
Known as one of the greatest warrior kings in all of English history, Henry V has left a hefty
impression. In Shakespeare s play of the same name, the monarch battles literally with France for
the throne and figuratively with accountability and being a just ruler and conqueror. Through the
story, we can see the values Henry holds and how the real implications of war aren t something the
king cannot deal with in a proper manner. The debate between King Henry and the common
soldiers like Williams and Bates illustrate fundamental problems with Henry s rule and asks
important questions about the motives behind war itself. In Act 4, Scene 1 of Shakespeare s Henry V

He ignores the responsibility of the king for putting all these lives in danger. He denies the fault
of the king for waging the war, and instead deflects the blame onto the will of God. Basically, his
response to the soldiers is that they must be spiritually prepared when they go into battle
because the king is not responsible for their deaths. This is a believe that is horribly ignorant and
unfair to the people who might actually lose their lives. When the king conquers the French port
on the mouth of the Seine, he insults them and states that God is on their side. Eventually, he
implies that the French should feel badly for being responsible for the death of their many
citizens at the hands of English. However, the same doesn t apply for himself when he could be
leading his men to their deaths. This might be because he thinks God s favor lies with England but
it is of course foolish and hypocritical to believe this. Using religion as a shield is a method Henry
uses throughout the play, stating the kingdom of England has God on their side on multiple
occasions. This aversion of guilt continually demonstrates Henry s doubt in himself and fragile

Music And Harmony In Music
According to Goodall, harmony is a word that borrowed by other language to show the well being,
human warm, agreement or friendliness. In music, harmony is the vertical of pitch with a part of
several pitches sounded at the same time. It unlike rhythm and melody as it was not part of music
from the beginning but it is an upstart. Harmony combined pitches into chords to please our ears.
Harmony is a magic compare to other elements of music. The tonal gravitational forces for harmony
are more complex and powerful than the melody. It contributes to the effect of the motion in music

Furthermore, harmony also contributes to the structural design of music. The arrangement of

Reflection Paper On Babies

Tram Anh Ngoc Nguyen. NU ID: 001884300
The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its
scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different
perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease
sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new
concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me.
First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford
English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected
in order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As
discussed in the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be
hypothetically capable of selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents
preferences. Parents not only can avoid genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome
leading to Down syndrome, but they can also choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement.
This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his or her hair color. However, The Guardian
s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses gene editing as harmful to children and
damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected traits may be considered favorable
in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead to a society that devalues
diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals to meet environmental
changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it decreases the
survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between normal
babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from genetic
mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also
accompanied by negative social pressure.
Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of
genetic testing. If I was an

Submitted To: Submitted By: Subject Code: Date: ABSTRACT: This paper represents a detailed
overview of the latest invention in the field of technology, Big Data and Mobile Computing . It
is a qualitative research initiate mainly aimed at creating current inventions and innovations
around the mobile phone technology along with the real examples of giant business
organizations. These examples also critically involve the evaluation of related mobile data
analysis methodologies and strategies. In the world of information technology, big data has been
considered as the highly advanced feature which is affecting the vital sectors of IT industry and
E Commerce. It is perhaps the only term which is being discussed in recent years in almost every
business field and organization ranging from the online retailers to the presidential campaign
teams in order to transmit or seize the transformative potential of big data for the large scale
positive changes. The research and analyst data have eventually showed that how the rapidly
changing technology has created a reverberation in the vast field of information technology. The
explosion of mobile phone technology is largely contributing to the IP data traffic and in order to
collect, organize and manipulate such large data; big data is rather the best choice because of
several reasons. However the prominent among them are its rapid scalability and

Pros And Negatives Of Masonry
I will be summarizing the Article Masonry Walls: Materials and Construction by Emeritus Henry.
The article will be covering the positives of modern masonry, its uses, and much more. The author
will also touch on the use of mortar in masonry and how it is used. Masonry has been replaced by
concrete and steel for a number of uses in construction in the last century or so, but there are still
many uses today that keeps masonryrelevant. Although masonry in itself calls for highly skilled
workers, the productivity has been able to keep up with its competitors by becoming better at
moving all the materials needed, as well even premaking the mortar off site so that it is ready to
use once on site. One reason that masonry has become less popular in the recent years is that it
yields a very low tensile strength compared to reinforced concrete. But in fact, reinforcements can
also be added to masonry to increase its tensile strength. There are a number of positives to using
masonry. One of which being that one material can have a number of functions; for example not
only can a structure be built from masonry, but the brickwill act as a fire retardant, protectant from
the elements, and also an insulator. Another advantage to using masonry would be its durability.
Masonry requires little to no maintenance, and can last well over a hundred years if properly
layed. Architects love using masonry for their builds. Due to its wide array of colors and its
flexibility the choices are

and their extents. As a recently coined term, it was not widely known as to what exactly it entailed.
HSCA would give one the ability to see, in numbers, how often the crimes were occurring.
Another impactful facet of the bill would be to support future development of hate crime
legislation. Legislation, moving forward, would need as much momentum as possible for future
implementation. But as public knowledge, those in support believed that reporting would aid in
such momentum. It would also aid in law enforcement s ability to address hate crimes. For one,
with the bill, they would have access to information that was never available before. This could help
in both predicting future crimes, as well as addressing them where they are most prominent. ...

Although the bias was apparent through his speech, it was made provable through the young men s
actions in which he inclined. But this is where hate crime statues become tricky, and face most
opposition. Those against hate crime statutes argue just that, of one s rights being violated if a
penalty enhancement is enforced.
Those in opposition, however, would eventually be out reasoned; much thanks to this case in
particular. What the ruling brought to light was ideals and reason that are still in place today
surrounding hate crime laws. One, being the public display of the serious nature in which these
crimes present, and the repercussions that follow if committed. Just as the HCSA intended to bring
exposure to such acts, this case would send a similar message in that acts of this nature will not be
tolerated. If committed, they are subject to a greater penalty.
Which is the other strongpoint of this case. The ruling proved, through court of law, that an act s
penalty can be constitutionally enhanced. This case would be of great aid in paving the way for
hate crime statues, on a national level, to be implemented in the

Escalation Of Tea Trade From 1700 To 1750
e escalation of tea importation and sales over the period 1690 to 1750 is mirrored closely by the
increase in importation and sales of cane sugar: the British were not drinking just tea but sweet
tea.[28] Thus, two of Britain s trading triangles converged: the sugar sourced from Britain s trading
triangle encompassing Britain, Africa and the West Indies and the tea from the triangle
encompassing Britain, India and China.[28]
In China, the Qing dynasty Qianlong Emperor decreed that China was the center of the world and
had everything they could ever need, so all trade with foreigners must be paid for in silver!
[disputed discuss] This meant that British traders had to pay China for its tea with silver bullion.

New Plymouth Colony Research Paper
The most devastating war between the colonists and Indians took place in New England in 1676
and ended in 1676. Metacomet, also known as King Philip, was the son of Chief Massasoit,
who was a principal leader of the Wampanoag in the early 1600 s; a tribe in North America that
existed in America long before the Europeans arrived. He is also known as Metacom, Metacomet
or Pometacom, names that he was given by the Wampanoag tribe. Pilgrims who arrived on the
Mayflower, a ship that transported the first English separatists, founded the Plymouth colony at
New Plymouth. This settlement that occurred in 1620 served as the capital of the colony and
occupied the southeastern portion of what is now known as Massachusetts. Besides Jamestown
and other settlements in Virginia, the Plymouth colony was one of the earliest successful colonies
to be founded by the British. The colony went great lengths and traveled long distances to
establish a friendship with Chief Massasoit to help ensure the colony s success. Gifts were
exchanged and Chief Massasoit gave his sons English names to show respect for each other. King
Philip tried to maintained peace for a number of years with the colonist, but after he... Show more

Narragansett allies. More than 1,000 colonists and 3,000 Native Americans had died and most
survivors either joined the western or northern tribes as captives or tribal members. The English
colonists were unable to completely stop the Indian attacks and hundreds of men, women and

Research on Density Essay
Density: Using Experimental Techniques to Solve an Inquiry based problem
ABSTRACT
The topic of this experiment is Density. The objective is to find two ways in which the density of
a given object can be determined, and to find out which of the two ways is more accurate and
hence better to use in such a case. The two methods used in this experiment are finding the
dimensions of the object and water displacement. These are two ways of finding the volume of an
object, and they were chosen since the density of an object may be found using its mass and its
volume. The experiment yielded two different density values, however when error analysis was
conducted, the water displacement method was proven to be more accurate.

Repeat measuring the mass of the object three (3) more times; ensuring that the balance is re zeroed
after each measurement. Tabulate data gathered. Procedure 2: Find the mass of the object given,
as done in procedure 1. Ensure that the object is dry when it is being placed on the balance, as
this will yield an inaccurate reading. Get a clean 1000milliter beaker. Fill the beaker to
approximately half its capacity. Note the exact volume of water placed into the beaker. When
reading the volume of the water, ensure that this is done at eye level, and that it is read at the
bottom of the meniscus. After noting the initial volume of water, place the object carefully into the
water. DO NOT SPLASH. Note the final volume of water in the beaker. Tabulate data gathered.

Analysis Of Hajime Isayama s Novel Attack On Titan
Graphic artist Hajime Isayama s best selling novel, Attack on Titan, illustrates the story of a
walled community that protects its citizens from gigantic humanoids Titans that consume
humans (Isayama, 2014). Hot headed 13 year old Eren Jäger features as the main protagonist,
who pledges his life to the military at the age of 11 to defeat the Titans. Eren s noble dedication
is fueled by the multiple traumas he experienced in his childhood. From enduring family risk
factors such as becoming orphaned at age 8, to community risk factors such as lack of support for
an overzealous pre teen soldier, Eren exhibits increased vulnerability to developing multiple types
of psychopathy. On the other hand, Eren eventually finds himself a tight knit group of friends and
new parental figure, which together produce protective factors such as supportive relationships, as
well as physical and psychological safety. An analysis of Eren s intra and inter personal
experiences suggests his likelihood to developing several types of psychopathy.
The multidimensional integrative approach to psychopathology indicates Eren s vulnerability to
developing psychological disorders exists in biological, psychological, emotional, and
developmental categories (Barlow et al., 2017). The novel hints at Eren s allegedly dead father, Dr.
Grisha Jäger exhibiting elements of schizophrenia as he hallucinated about Titans from working as
a doctor during Titan battles (Isayama, 2014). Subsequently, the diathesis

Characteristics Of The Rich In The Victorian Era
Victorian Era England Lifestyles were quite diverse depending on where you lived and how much
money you had. The rich were well off while the poor were complete opposites. Although the rich
had great lives, I would not wish to live in that time period. In Victorian England, the rich were
very well off and had a lot of putative luxuries. One nice thing about being rich then, were the
beautiful, elegant houses and what went on inside them. A wealthy family... would have lived in a
large house with at least three storeys (Durham University), many rooms, and servants. It may not
seem important to living someone here in America today, but their children got very good
educations. As crazy as this may seem, many of the families would not use their kitchen [because]
all their food would have been prepared by servants (Durham University). Another luxury the rich
had were their clothes. Unlike the poor, the wealthy had plenty of clothing, and often the women
needed help getting dressed (Durham University) because under most of their dress were extremely
tight corsets and large hoop skirts called crinolines. The men wore, along with their suits, various
assortments and combinations of waistcoats, hats, pocket watches, handkerchiefs, and gloves. The
children wore miniature versions of adult clothes (Durham University); boys wore dresses until
they were about five (Durham University), and some kids wore sailor suits, but crinolines were not
wore until much older. Both housing

The Night Of Dawn Broke Over The Tamorian Plains, Larah...
When dawn broke over the Tamorian plains, Larah awoke alone. Both Riasean and their recent

But this was was uncommon, as most buildings ranged from decrepit to inhabitable. Larah

Then she smelled it. Of what exactly she could not tell perhaps horse manure, rotting garbage,
sweat or some other noxious combination. Like a dirty blanket, the stench hung in the air, invading
the senses in an unavoidable and persistent manner. She pulled the loose flap of her hood over her
nose and mouth in a feeble attempt to keep it out of her lungs.
I will take you to the Black Boar Tavern, near the river; it s about the only decent place to stay in
the city, Riasean stated. His eyes slowly panned about, a studied gaze now gracing his features.
Larah nodded between gulps of air.
As they neared the river, the sun rose to its noon perch mixing heat into the aromatic stew
through which they rode. Several times Larah eyes watered and she coughed. Even so, she
derived a small bit of comfort from Riasean also having to cover his face. The few people they
passed hid in the shadows or huddled in doorways. A few glanced up curiously but then ducked
into alleys. Several times they had to backtrack, either because of crowds or debris blocking the
street.
Eventually, they reached the river, framed by buildings fronting it, small quays and row boats
lazing along the banks, where dark green water slithered along,

our country flourish and better than other we have to educate our own people and this is the
thinking of the author. My goal in this paper is to bring out the facts and present the reality of
the writing of the author. In this research paper, Henderson has come up with a problem which

Kant s Groundwork Of The Metaphysics Of Morals

society have become habituated to P2P file sharing and the idea of distributing and downloading

of the Metaphysics of Morals, I believe that Kant would disapprove of P2P file sharing. If P2P file

2.Osmosis Osmotic pressure can built up within the interior of particle to allow water to enter. The
drug is forced out of particle into exterior through coating. The osmotic pressure is responsible for
drug release in which drug passes from higher concentration to lower concentration through semi

The Tragedy Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials
The Salem witchcraft trials provide a great insight into the evolution of early evidence presented in
court and the impact public ideology can have on such evidence. From January of 1692 to May of
1693, hundreds were accused, nineteen men and women were hanged, and one was pressed to
death by stones. Most haunting of all, all of those convicted were found guilty through the
presentation of spectral evidence. In order to fully understand the tragedy of these trials, we must
take many factors into account. To begin, it should be noted that accusations of witchcraft were not
unheard of at the time. In fact, witchcraft prosecutions in England peaked toward the end of the
sixteenth century, with a lesser number still occurring in the first half of the seventeenth century.
However, their most notable difference from the Salem witchcraft trials is the fact that English
cases were rarely taken to court. This was because the laws criminalizing witchcraft did not align
with folk ideas. For instance, the courts required that both the pact with the Devil and real harm be
established. Meanwhile, folk ideas simply required one to establish involvement with the Devil.
Yet, in both England and Salem, unexplained illness, particularly of children, led to suspicions of

Reasons For The Cuban Missile Crisis
During 1962, the United States and the Soviet Union were in conflict due to the Soviet Union
placing missiles in Cuba, known today as the Cuban missile crisis. In attempt to avoid nuclear
conflict and force the removal of the missiles, Kennedy was faced with three options; to bomb the
missile sites and/or conduct both sea and airborne landings, or blockade the island and reassure
the removal of the missiles. Kennedy decided to blockade Cuba as it was the only option that
would result in the removal of the missiles without it escalating to war. The Cuban missile crisiswas
the closest the Cold Warwas to developing into war. This thirteen day long confrontation between
the United States and the Soviet Unionbegan when the Soviet Union deployed... Show more content

Kennedy had three options: To bomb the missile sites, to bomb the sites and conduct both sea
and airborne landings, or to blockade Cuba and to confirm the transfer of the missiles from the
island. At first, Kennedy was enraged and wanted to attack the missile sites, but the issue was
whether to let Khrushchev and Castro know his plan. If he had let them know, the Soviet Union
could have responded earlier by striking against Berlin or their bases in Turkey. However, if it
would be a surprise attack many people would be killed, equalling to further conflict. Kennedy
reasoned it would not be a good idea due to the fact it was impulsive and the consequences would
be drastic. The Joints Chiefs of Staff added that a surprise air strike would lead to an
invasion.Although the air strike proposal was done for, the Joints Chief of Staff argued against
the blockade debating that it would be inefficient and useless. Not only did they mention that the
blockade would not remove the missiles for the simple fact that they were already there, but they
also pointed out that doing so would cause the Soviet Union to do it also. Forcing the removal of
the missiles would mean the United States would have to remove their missiles surrounding the
Soviet Union too, or so they thought. Although a blockade had its cons, it was the safer way to go
and would cause less extreme consequences according to Secretary McNamara and Robert F.
Kennedy. These three proposals all had their cons; Some more than others, but Kennedy managed to

Beethoven Piano Sonata Analysis
Beethoven was one of the most influential composers of the late classical era. Of all the forms of
music he composed one constant during Beethoven s career were his piano sonatas, which were
composed during his early, middle, and late periods. These sonatas far exceeded those created by
composers before and are considered to be the bridge between salon musicand the concert hall for
solo pianorepertoire. The early sonatas follow the same traditions established by Mozart and
Haydn and by the end of the late period are radically different from conventional form. The late
sonatas, Op. 101, 106, 109, 110, and 111, are distinctly different from the other sonatas that came
before in their style, forms, and composition. The pieces that I have chosen are the last five
piano sonatas from Beethoven s late period. These pieces are reflective of the changes of
Beethoven s compositional style as in his older age he began to stretch the limits of the classical
style. The piano sonatas are reflective of what he was doing in all of his later works and are sort
of condensed versions that still show the same ideas. Because piano sonatas were composed
throughout his lifetime, they can be interpreted as a timeline of the changes in Beethoven s style
of composing, particularly in the late sonatas. Beethoven had never been a very rapid composer
and these five sonatas were the chief output of six years of work in the second to last decade of his
life. Beethoven s increasing deafness was a major

The Economic Recession Of Italy
Italy is a country governed by a Constitutional Republic and has a diversified industrial economy
with developed infrastructure. The economy consists of a vast majority of small and medium sized
businesses, with few large corporations; and according to the United Nations, citizens of Italy enjoy
the 26th highest HDI (human development index), indicating that the country overall is healthy.
And while Italy is the 8th largest economyin the world by GDP, at $2.129 Trillion, its economy has
been sluggish since 2000 with real GDP growth rate of less than 1.5% every year, and shrunk
almost 7% between 2007 2011. The country has seen its debt increase from 113 to 132 (% of
GDP), as a result of an increase in doubt over the government s ability to manage the economy. The
Italian Government needs to enact fiscal reform to erase the need for deficit spending, increase the
country s growth rate, and advance their economy in the long run. The global economic recessionof
2008 shook economies all around the world. Some of the largest countries saw a massive
reduction in their GDP, and Italy saw its economy shrink 3%. Italy still hasn t recovered from
the hit it took in 2008, and it is still causing problems for the country. Italy s debt actually isn t
their problem, but it is the root problem. Italy has carried debt to GDP ratios well above 100% for
over 20 years, but only now are they having serious economic issues. The real problem has been
GDP growth. Back in the booming 1990 s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bananas
deforestation and unhealthy soil cause erosion, and the runoff causes frequent flooding and
damage from sedimentation. In a 1997 study done off the coast of Costa Rica, it was discovered
that 60 percent of the coral reefs in Cahuita National Park had been severely damaged due to runoff
from coastal bananaplantations (Cohen, 2009). Furthermore, bananas are grown as a mono
culture, where all the bananas on a plantation are genetically identical. Although this makes
crops easy to manage, these bananas face an increased risk of being wiped out by a single type of
pest, fungi or disease, and will all be severely attacked if the pests develop resistance to
pesticides. In order to prevent this from happening even more chemicals are used. It is estimated
that 30 kilograms of pesticides are used per hectare per year on a banana plantation, whereas only
2.7 kilograms are used for the average European cereal crop (Cohen, 2009).
The banana field workers (also called bananeros ), often untrained, and marginalized workers, lack
sufficient precautionary instructions or protective equipments. According to Ivan Clavijos, an ex
conventional banana producer, despite wearing masks, goggles, and gloves, chemical gases can
still get absorbed in the workers clothes, and through sweats will enter the body, blood, and liver
via pores on the skin, producing ammonia in the blood, or can result in loss of sight, hearing, or
sterility, which he himself and many people he knows who work in banana

ADHD Effects On Children In Special Education
Growing up in a private school I was not exposed to what the special education system is and
what the purpose of this system was. I did have family members who were apart of this special
education system but I never looked at them any differently than anybody else. When I graduated,
and began my high schooleducationat a public school I was exposed firsthand of this special
educationsystem. In high school I was happy to engage and interact with children in the special
education system. Arts and crafts, and board games were activating that many students including
myself played with children in the special education system. I have learned that even though these
children are put into a different education system than many others they are still human. They are a

answer all the questions in the research that want to be made. Quoted by Denzin and Lincoln
(1994), methodology is a process that related with research objective and data. In the others word,
it is early research planning that include the research scope, data collection method, data
collection process and data analysis method. For Ranjit (2005), methodology is one of crucial
part in research, in order to ensure the research can be done in the systematic way Overall, this
chapter will discuss on the research frame and the methodologies used in order to meet the
research objectives. Research process been divided into three main parts there are preliminary
research part, data collection and last one data analysis.
Research Methodologies
Research methodology is a way how the research is conducted step by step and in order. There
are two methods used for data collection which is the primary data and secondary data. These
data can be obtained and used many ways. The data is taken and analyzed in advance to produce

Assignment 3
Literature Review
Conversion of the XML Schema to Data Warehouse Schema
Introduction: eXtensible Markup Language is used mainly in most of the organizations for e
commerce and online applications. Indeed, XML has become the standard for representing,
exchanging the data among the various applications on the internet. Moreover, XML schema is used
for representing the XML document structure where XML data is associated with the XML
schema. Furthermore, data warehouse provides tools which business use the data for making the
important decisions. Correspondingly, data is stored in the fact table and multidimensional tables.
Mainly, the table association between them are generally represented with the three data warehouse
schemas like a) star schema b) fact constellation schema c) snowflake schema. Simultaneously, the
use of the internet is increasing day by day and by first integrating the data and secondly converting
the data into XML schema from the schema graph to the various data schemas. At first, schema
graph is taken as the model for the conversion of the data that is extracted from the XML schema
and the data is transformed into the various schema. Consequently, the data warehouse schema is
constructed with these fact tables, dimension tables and the relation existing between the graph and
tables.

about the pains of the prisoners they are forced to work in extreme conditions, they are forgotten
by their loved ones, and they are destined to die in the prison. The song also introduces the two

However, the common people were still afraid to join in the revolution. People did not join the
students; forcing the students to fight to the death. After an attack, Eponine, disguised as a
man, is shot and Marius tends to her. Eponine uses her dying breath to confess her love for
Marius. Together, the two sing A Little Fall of Rain. A sad song that chronicles Eponine s last
few moments with the love of her life. A series of attacks on the students ensues and a lot of
things happened during the attacks many students are killed, Valjean and Javert spare each other,
and Marius and Cosette finally reunites and marry. Because of the bravery of the students, the
common people were inspired to join in the revolution. They saw that the revolution can really
change something and they wanted to be a part of it. At the end of the film, Do You Hear the
People Sing? is sung again, this time by a lot of revolutionaries who want change. The musical
score helped the movie have a more dramatic feel. The movie showed the life in France before and
during the French Revolution. People from different walks of life were portrayed, each of them

Different Forms of Power Presented in My Last Duchess, A Woman to Her Lover and La Belle
Dame Sans Merci
Amongst the three love poems examined in this essay, the theme of male or female power in
relationships pervades throughout. The views of the speakers are expressed and defined through
literary and poetic techniques. This gives the reader an insight into the speaker s problems and
dissatisfaction with a relationship, due to an imbalance of power. However there are dissimilarities
between the poems for example where in La Belle Dame Sans Merci the female displays
supernatural power and dominance over a knight, the Duke in My Last Duchess desires
psychological power over his Duchess.

Also the Duke believes himself to be above the level of common people saying he would never
stoop down to their level. From this we can presume the Duke is afraid of losing his power, and
would rather hold his head up high and suffer for it rather than stoop . The use of this word
indicates that the Duke is in a state of mind where he sees himself as superior compared to others.
However as we read on we learn that the Duke had limited control over his wife. He states that She
had a heart…to soon made glad , showing that he felt she was amused easily and distracted
away from him perhaps by other men. This is amplified further when he says She liked whate er
she looked on , showing he believes she undermined his control over her and paid attention to other
men . We can infer from this that the Duke was disturbed about his deficit of restrain over his wife
and is deeply angered at how she thanked men other than himself.
The Duke is outraged at the lack of affection he receives from his Duchess, and provides the
reader with reasons as to why he deserves more. The Duke says She ranked my gift of a nine
hundred years old name with anybody s gift . Here the Duke explains that his supremacy, which he
received from his family name, has stretched over several centuries and his Duchess should
therefore appreciate him for it. His contenders have a lot less to offer but still

Key Organizational Principles Of Law Enforcement
Some of the key organizational principles that are used to help guide the structure of law
enforcement organizations include chain of command, unity of command, span of control, and
grouping like functions (Cordner, 2016). The following is a brief summary of each and their
importance.
CHAIN OF COMMAND
Chain of command is simply a prescribed way for every member of a police department to
communicate within the different levels of management (Cordner, 2016). Having a chain of
command that clearly dictates the different levels of authority will ensure the organizations
communication and decisions are efficient (Cordner, 2016). The Chief of Police would be at the
top of this chain and then filters down to command and supervisory levels (Cordner,

Bronislaw Malinowski Research Paper
There have been many scholars that have had different views on rituals and why people partake
in them. One of the most renowned English Functionalist had the idea of rituals being performed
because of a psychological reason. Bronislaw Malinowski proposed that humans participated in
rituals whenever they were in danger. He suggested that rituals were performed as a mean to
help people deal with anxiety. Bronislaw Malinowski was lead to believe that uneducated
cultures did not understand how to cope with everyday problems so they performed rituals
instead. In the reading, Bronislaw Malinowski uses The Trobriand Islanders as an example of his
theory. The islanders would take long journeys for trading purposes. The islanders would sail on
dangers seas with wooden canoes. To make up for their not so advanced boats the islander sailors

He saw rituals as a way for people of a society to preserve their unity with one another. Emile
Durkheim s theory was that while people were partaking in rituals they would put aside their self
centered tendencies and become a part of their society. He believed that rituals would bring such a
powerful bond between the participants. The rituals needed to continue to be performed to keep the
bond alive. Emile Durkheim inspired A.R Radcliffe Brown who agreed with his theories. There are
three different categories that Anthropologist place people who perform rituals in. These categories
are, Category A which is Shamans; Category B which is Priest; and Category C which is Prophets.
The phrase shaman comes from the language of a Siberian group. The translation of it is one who
is excited or moved. The most well known culture that has shamans in them are the Native
American Indians. Native American tribes are not the only cultures that have them. In South
American shamans are common. The most common place to find shamans are in

Gender Inequality In The Healthcare Sector
Executive Summary
In the healthcare sector, gender equality is based on providing equal opportunities for men and
women in all areas or settings. Gender can be defined as those characteristics of men and women
that are socially constricted and determined while sex is associated with characteristics that are
biologically determined. There is a lack of demand and support for advanced research on women
health and diseases, specifically decision makers, support staff, or even researchers and authors.
Many young women and adolescents have found it difficult to access, utilize, or even make their
own decisions in context to reproductive health, specifically abortions, unsafe pregnancies, and
pacing. Women and men from low income, culturally background, and poor socio economic
conditions are deprived of basic healthcare facilities. In the past decade, gender inequality in the
healthcare sector has been associated with age, poverty, socioeconomic condition, and ethnic
diversity of men and women. Gender inequality is not only restricted to healthcare access and
utilization but also affects men and women who seek employment opportunities. In most cases,
only men are dominant in working for specific healthcare positions. Contribution from women
healthcare workers or staff is lower compared to the male workforce that is huge in many areas of
the healthcare system. There is a lack of services and products for women and men coming from
culturally minority or low income groups.

  • 2. The Components of Mishel’s Uncertainty of Illness Theory... BACKGROUND Mishel s Uncertainty of Illness Theory is a middle range theory (Black, 2014). This means the theory is not overly broad or narrow. The theory was developed from studying men with prostate cancer who were watchfully waiting for the advancing signs of their disease (Black, 2014). The theory has three main components, which incorporate: the antecedents of uncertainty, impaired cognitive appraisal, and coping with uncertainty in illness (Neville, 2003). The antecedents of Mishel s theory are the stimulus frame, cognitive capacities and event congruence (Neville, 2003). The stimulus frame concerns three parts including: symptom pattern, event familiarity and event congruency (Neville, 2003). Symptom pattern may be when symptoms of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This study is based on uncertainty management intervention (UMI) treatment option. The candidates for the study were men who are 65 and older with a low stage and grade prostate disease. The UMI study used a system of nursing telephone follow up care to help patients with their psychosocial and educational disease needs (Kazer, Whittemore, Baily, 2010). The nursing intervention with the patients focused on helping the patients examine illness related events and restructure their beliefs... to incorporate uncertainty into a new life view. (Kazer, Whittemore Baily, 2010) The nursing intervention s goal was to create a cognitive plan from events that are uncertain and use the plan to change their view of the uncontrollable situation presented to them. Miho Suzuki s study aimed to explore the relationships between uncertainty and the quality of life in patients with head and neck cancer in pre and post treatment periods. Suzuki intended to discover whether patients with head and neck cancer experience less uncertainty when they think they are able to express their concerns to their doctor. Also, Suzuki wanted to assess if the patients experienced less uncertainty when involved with treatment decision making and sufficient information about symptoms. Suzuki used a prospective correlational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. J.M Coetzee s The Harms of Pornography J.M Coetzee s The Harms of Pornography As the debate over pornography and its place in society grows hotter every day, several authors in particular shed a new light on the subject. Both their intuition and insight involving their beliefs can help the reader a great deal in seeing aspects of this debate that might have otherwise gone without the consideration that they so deserve. I believe that pornography is not only okay, but is allowing our country to take a step back and ask ourselves how far we are willing to go and what we are willing to sacrifice in order to preserve free speech and our rights to personal choice. The argument over pornography is not merely the debate over right or wrong, but also involves the theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coetzee goes to great lengths to bring to light indescrepancies and unclarified ideas throughout MacKinnon s article. One of Coetzee s most prominent points is that the differences between obscenity and pornography go far beyond a difference in term based on either political or moral argument. While at times Coetzee seems to generally disagree with or at least greatly challenge MacKinnon s ideas, there are times at which the two authors trains of thought almost seem to coincide. One such issue would be that MacKinnon is not necessarily looking to hunt out all occurrences of pornography in today s literature and media, but to snuff out the commercial end of it. The end that makes billions based on women being used by men, and does nothing at all to improve their social standing in our society. But why must everything be used to bolster the social position of women? It is this topic specifically that seems to have gone un argued by Coetzee. Coetzee s stand on this issue of pornography and obscenity as a part of today s culture is never quite addressed may very well remain a mystery to the reader. From many of the author s statements and criticism s of MacKinnon, one could gather that he takes a much more liberal stand and yet somehow successfully avoids pressing his opinions. He also does a wonderful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Freshwater Fishing Vs. Fresh Water Fishing Salt water fishing vs fresh water fishing Remember when you were a little kid waking up at 5 in the morning just to go fishing. You re just hoping that today will be the day to catch the big one. You re out there just waiting for something to hit your line. No matter whether salt water fishing or fresh water fishing, it will meet every fisherman s or woman s dreams. It doesn t matter if you re out on the lake or on the ocean, you are always guaranteed to have a good time and make memories. When fishing either salt water or fresh water you think about what kind of fish you are trying to catch. One of the most commanded fish fresh water fish people think of is catfish. They can range from 1 pound up to 60 pounds depending on how old they are. Catfish spend most of their time swimming on the bottom of lakes or rivers and they will usually eat everything. Catfish are usually dark in color, so dark that they look brown. If you re more into the sport side of fishing, the first kind of fresh water fish you think about is a large or small mouth bass. They usually like to chase their prey down, but they don t wonder to far from their home. These fish lie around the bank waiting for a chance to eat. Bass color markings usually consist of bright and light green. The weight range of bass can be between a one half pound to ten pounds. An example of salt water fish is Mahi Mahi. • 6. The Theory Of Human Development Essay Human development does not exist in stasis it is constantly in flux. The outcomes of human development are intrinsically linked to overarching power structures, and include psychological dimensions including social recognition. Thus, development is dynamic and highly contextualised it is governed by socio economic class, domestic politics, geographical location, and the wider institutional context. Working within a particular framework requires acknowledging that concepts of human developmentare implicated in the power structures which govern policies. Yet, human development is not fixed in numerical measures of development, but rather, the outcomes of human capitalare heavily influenced by the social context in which development occurs. Brazil s economic growth and shifts in the wake of structural adjustment have coincided with the wider shifts in development rhetoric which emphasize inclusive economic growth and human development. Yet, whether new social safety nets provide will eventually provide an avenue for increased political participation and growing social mobility remains speculative. Distinguishing social welfare from human capital accumulation, I will argue CCTs, as social safety net policies emphasis on data collection constitutes a thin approach to welfare. Then I will propose that the extension of service provision, CCT programmes could build human capital accumulation. However, due to the overarching political drivers of statist and ... A lively and articulate Christianity in former mission fields and dissatisfaction among American evangelicals produced new movements. The turmoil of the twentieth century proved a trying time for Christianity. Due to global spread, there were Christians on all sides of nearly every major conflict of the century. There were two world wars; the use of nuclear bombs in Japan, there was also wars in Korea and Vietnam. There were anti colonial conflicts in Latin America, North Africa, Sub Saharan Africa, and the Middle East Marxist governments came to power and enforced secular culture throughout the historic areas of the Eastern Churches and in China. Christians were challenged to redefine their morals and their ideologies in response to these upheavals. There were newer movements that also emerged in the twentieth century such as ecumenism, liberation theology, Pentecostalism, and fundamentalism (McGrath 2007). The spirit of ecumenism is nearly as old as Christianity itself. The First Ecumenical Council at Nicaea in 325 was called because bishops came from all parts if the Christian world. In 1910, several missionary societies convened a meeting in Scotland designed to develop a common missionary strategy that could contribute to the healing of divisions and coordinate a mutual commitment to action and service to the world (Shelly 2008). • 12. The War Of The Soviet Revolution THIS WAS THE WAY the war was suppose to end: with cheers, handshakes, dancing, drinking, and hope (Gaddis, 5). The tragedy was this: that victory would require the victors either to cease to be who they were, or to give up much of what they had hoped, by fighting the war, to attain (Gaddis, 6). As a curious reporter for the State Department, I began to see the destruction that the war caused not only within the aspects of American society, but also within the world as a whole. At the end of WWII, the allies had initially won the war and therefore believed that terms of a world based around normality would once again prevail. However, As a consequence, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was, at the end of World War II, the most authoritarian society anywhere on the face of the earth (Gaddis, 8). It was during this time that Stalin had begun to make it clear that the days of victory would not endure within his country or any country if all of the power was granted to him. As a reporter, not only did I see the ending of one era of war, but also the beginning of another. The only difference in this war was that it relied upon other countries willingness to ultimately give up their power in order for the nations to once again become ruled by a powerful leader. In this case, the ultimate leader was Stalin and through his powerful tactics, he would proclaim his victory by the spreading of communism, in an effort to gain ultimate control not only of the countries ... • 13. Conflicts Within A Group And How A Manager Can Bring Up... Conflicts can happen in everyday life with people and in organizations. Conflicts need to be handled so that the situation does not escalate further. Most people look at conflicts as a bad situation, but not all conflicts are bad, some are good, especially when discussing an idea within a group. In an organization there are times when a conflictmay need to happen for an issue to be resolved, but when this happens the people involved need to look at if this conflict is really necessary to resolve the issue. How to address conflicts in a group and how a manager can bring up the conflict without making them worse is what will be discussed next. At many jobs there are projects given that have to be completed in groups and they re more than likely is going to be people within the group that do not necessarily agree on how the project should be completed. This can cause a conflict to arise and to resolve this conflict requires all members of the group to have a say in the resolution. To ensure sufficient discussion of contentious issues in a work group, I would have one person be in charge of the group. This person would make sure that everyone had a turn to give their input and I would make it known to all the group members that what is said cannot be held against the person who says it. When managers need to bring up unspoken conflicts into the open without making them worse, it may be best to have a third party present that can ensure that the issue is addressed ... • 14. Is Huck Finn A Hero What makes a true American hero? A hero is someone admired for their achievements and qualities, or one who shows great courage. Heroes are looked up to by many for their selflessness or actions in situations. In Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck Finn is a true hero. His actions throughout the story help define him as such. Huckleberry Finn is a hero because he is clever, loyal, and moral. One heroic characteristic of Huck is his cleverness. As young boy, he fakes his own death to escape from his father. To fool everyone, Huck smartly kills a pig and spreads its blood around Pap s cabin in an effort to make it appear as though robbers had murdered him. This scheme affords Huck all the time he needs to make his getaway and makes everyone think that he s dead. Huck Finn cleverly makes up stories to get himself out of trouble. For example, when a couple of men insist on checking out Huck s raft, he pretends as though his father is sick with smallpox to keep the men from getting too close. At the Grangerford s, Huck forgets his false name and tricks Buck Grangerford into telling him. I bet you can t spell my name (Twain 75). Buck accepts the dare and spells out what Huck said was his name. Huck is not only cunning, but also faithful to his friends. Huckleberry Finn is a loyal person. While on Jackson s island, Huck warns Jim of a search party instead of turning him in. Even though Huck is breaking the law, this early sign of loyalty toward Jim is ... Most major sites have expertise in the area they talk about and will back up their claims with quotes from highly regarded professionals. As a result of the heavy social media usage among the upcoming generation combined with the fact that large quantities of people gather their information from these social media sites, it is imperative that the issue of fake news is addressed. The social media platform is the ideal breeding grounds for fake news since information can be spread with the click of a button with little to no fact checking. The reader must remember that fake news exists solely to provoke a response and if the material seems outlandish or impractical, then it probably is. • 16. Utopian Urbanism That Forms Utopic Degeneration From recent years, utopian urbanism connects with the so called crisis of modernist urbanism that forms utopic degeneration. Utopia has developed to mean a community with a visionary system of political and societal perfection, where cities that function to improve the daily lives of its citizens; an ideal society, However these concepts are more often than not depicted as an impossible dream, yet too bold, too radical to ever exist in real life. Some utopian visions are focused on new technology, whereas others are on intact landscapes. In other occasions, some are based on new social orders, but all were combined under a radical avant garde and progressive architecture. It is this, their new and bold concepts that drive the imagination of architects and town planners. Although rarely realized in full, principles from some utopian visions have been adopted in part and have had significant influence on existing cities such as New York, Chandigarh and Paris. They are a catalyst for generating ideas and new forms of thinking that leads to, for better or for worse the many innovations in 21st century urban planning. Since utopian thinking can produce a vision of the future that is achievable, what is the connection between having a vision of the future, whether achievable or not, and utopian thinking? The concept of utopia, derived from Thomas Mores, in his famous text in 1516 where he refers a place as to both somewhere good and to nowhere. The connections between utopian ... • 17. Henry V Theme Of War Known as one of the greatest warrior kings in all of English history, Henry V has left a hefty impression. In Shakespeare s play of the same name, the monarch battles literally with France for the throne and figuratively with accountability and being a just ruler and conqueror. Through the story, we can see the values Henry holds and how the real implications of war aren t something the king cannot deal with in a proper manner. The debate between King Henry and the common soldiers like Williams and Bates illustrate fundamental problems with Henry s rule and asks important questions about the motives behind war itself. He ignores the responsibility of the king for putting all these lives in danger. He denies the fault of the king for waging the war, and instead deflects the blame onto the will of God. Basically, his response to the soldiers is that they must be spiritually prepared when they go into battle because the king is not responsible for their deaths. This is a believe that is horribly ignorant and unfair to the people who might actually lose their lives. When the king conquers the French port on the mouth of the Seine, he insults them and states that God is on their side. Eventually, he implies that the French should feel badly for being responsible for the death of their many citizens at the hands of English. However, the same doesn t apply for himself when he could be leading his men to their deaths. This might be because he thinks God s favor lies with England but it is of course foolish and hypocritical to believe this. Using religion as a shield is a method Henry uses throughout the play, stating the kingdom of England has God on their side on multiple occasions. This aversion of guilt continually demonstrates Henry s doubt in himself and fragile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One aspect is domain operations which are an important resource available on the network through Window Server. Making Window Server a domain controller adds security and the ability to add local and group policies to the network (Garza, 2010). If Window Server is not promoted to the status of a domain controller, then it can run simple network operations using peer to peer structures (Garza, 2010). The Role Of Environmental Problems In The Gulf Of Mexico With The Gulf of Mexico being the ninth largest body of water in the world, it is obvious that there may be a few environmental problems. The estuaries of The Gulf of Mexico are being destroyed and there is no one to point fingers at except ourselves. Estuaries provide humans with many uses and benefits such as a water supply, trading ports, agricultural support, sport and commercial fisheries, and even recreational uses for swimming or jet skiing. NU ID: 001884300 The panel of PBS program Making Better Babies focused greatly on genetic testing in relation to its scientific and social effects. There were many opposing ideas and concerns coming from different perspectives such as those of expecting parents, genetic counselor, scientists and genetic disease sufferers. Coming from Vietnam where technology is more limited, I have learned multiple new concepts from the arguments made on the show, many of which surprised me. First I learned the possible risks of establishing a society of Designer babies . According to Oxford English Dictionary, a designer baby is defined as a baby whose genetic make up has been selected in order to eradicate a particular defect or to ensure that a particular gene is present (1). As discussed in the perfect pitch example of moderator John Hockenberry, science will be hypothetically capable of selecting favorable genetic traits to create a baby to the parents preferences. Parents not only can avoid genetic abnormalities such as an extra chromosome leading to Down syndrome, but they can also choose specific alleles for genetic enhancement. This can range from selecting the baby s gender to his or her hair color. However, The Guardian s The Case for Genetically Engineered Babies addresses gene editing as harmful to children and damaging to the gene pool. This is because artificial selected traits may be considered favorable in one generation but not the next (2). In addition, this will all lead to a society that devalues diversity. Diversity is important in all species because it equips individuals to meet environmental changes and demands. Decreasing diversity is said to be unethical since it decreases the survivability of populations (3). Furthermore, a gap in society will be created between normal babies and designer babies. There will be a greater stigma towards those who suffer from genetic mutations such as Huntington disease or Dwarfism hence their physical abnormalities are also accompanied by negative social pressure. Secondly, the movie also gave me an insight into a parent s perspective and the advantages of genetic testing. If I was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Pros And Negatives Of Masonry I will be summarizing the Article Masonry Walls: Materials and Construction by Emeritus Henry. The article will be covering the positives of modern masonry, its uses, and much more. The author will also touch on the use of mortar in masonry and how it is used. Masonry has been replaced by concrete and steel for a number of uses in construction in the last century or so, but there are still many uses today that keeps masonryrelevant. Although masonry in itself calls for highly skilled workers, the productivity has been able to keep up with its competitors by becoming better at moving all the materials needed, as well even premaking the mortar off site so that it is ready to use once on site. One reason that masonry has become less popular in the recent years is that it yields a very low tensile strength compared to reinforced concrete. But in fact, reinforcements can also be added to masonry to increase its tensile strength. There are a number of positives to using masonry. One of which being that one material can have a number of functions; for example not only can a structure be built from masonry, but the brickwill act as a fire retardant, protectant from the elements, and also an insulator. Another advantage to using masonry would be its durability. Masonry requires little to no maintenance, and can last well over a hundred years if properly layed. The objective is to find two ways in which the density of a given object can be determined, and to find out which of the two ways is more accurate and hence better to use in such a case. The two methods used in this experiment are finding the dimensions of the object and water displacement. These are two ways of finding the volume of an object, and they were chosen since the density of an object may be found using its mass and its volume. Eren s noble dedication is fueled by the multiple traumas he experienced in his childhood. In this research paper, Henderson has come up with a problem which is faces almost by every student in his life, the problem when he wants to study but he is stuck between job and studies, even if he manages the time he gets so tired that he is not able to complete his assignments. But suppose that he is also done with the assignments and he is working really hard day and night and is making sure that he gives time to his job as well as his studies, he does all this because it s all in his hands that whether he studies hard or not, he does job or not but at some point he is unable to do anything because it is not in his hands and that is the bills he has to pay for his own studies. Kant s Groundwork Of The Metaphysics Of Morals P2P file sharing: downloading illegal content such as movie, music, and etc. No matter how one rationalize their own actions, anyone could agree that stealing is consider wrong. Furthermore, our society have become habituated to P2P file sharing and the idea of distributing and downloading free content for themselves. What would Kant think about P2P file sharers? In Kant s Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals, I believe that Kant would disapprove of P2P file sharing. If P2P file sharing became or was a Universalized Maxim, no rational being would not want to live in such a world. Persons, such as those who work in the movie and music industry, would be simply used as a Mean for one s own End, which then be at variance with Kant s fundamental... It would not be left to chance to other individuals in this manner, it would evolve to our: Imperfect duty. Kant, believes rational beings would want to live in this new alter hypothetical world, because both music, movie producers, and file sharing users can exist together willingly to accordance of the law. Kant accepts that not all maxims are so misrepresented that no rational being would want to live in. However, all rational beings attempt to rationalize and universalized a maxim. Kant states, Some actions are so constituted that their maxim cannot even be thought without contradiction as a universal law of nature, far less could one will that it should become such. (4:424). • 41. The Tragedy Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials The Salem witchcraft trials provide a great insight into the evolution of early evidence presented in court and the impact public ideology can have on such evidence. From January of 1692 to May of 1693, hundreds were accused, nineteen men and women were hanged, and one was pressed to death by stones. Most haunting of all, all of those convicted were found guilty through the presentation of spectral evidence. In order to fully understand the tragedy of these trials, we must take many factors into account. To begin, it should be noted that accusations of witchcraft were not unheard of at the time. In fact, witchcraft prosecutions in England peaked toward the end of the sixteenth century, with a lesser number still occurring in the first half of the seventeenth century. However, their most notable difference from the Salem witchcraft trials is the fact that English cases were rarely taken to court. This was because the laws criminalizing witchcraft did not align with folk ideas. For instance, the courts required that both the pact with the Devil and real harm be established. Meanwhile, folk ideas simply required one to establish involvement with the Devil. Yet, in both England and Salem, unexplained illness, particularly of children, led to suspicions of witchcraft. In New England cases of witchcraft around the first half of the seventeenth century, those accused were most often acquitted to preserve the stability of society. Puritans deeply valued the idea of a stable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first, Kennedy was enraged and wanted to attack the missile sites, but the issue was whether to let Khrushchev and Castro know his plan. If he had let them know, the Soviet Union could have responded earlier by striking against Berlin or their bases in Turkey. However, if it would be a surprise attack many people would be killed, equalling to further conflict. Kennedy reasoned it would not be a good idea due to the fact it was impulsive and the consequences would be drastic. The Joints Chiefs of Staff added that a surprise air strike would lead to an invasion.Although the air strike proposal was done for, the Joints Chief of Staff argued against the blockade debating that it would be inefficient and useless. Not only did they mention that the blockade would not remove the missiles for the simple fact that they were already there, but they also pointed out that doing so would cause the Soviet Union to do it also. Forcing the removal of the missiles would mean the United States would have to remove their missiles surrounding the Soviet Union too, or so they thought. • 43. Beethoven Piano Sonata Analysis Beethoven was one of the most influential composers of the late classical era. Of all the forms of music he composed one constant during Beethoven s career were his piano sonatas, which were composed during his early, middle, and late periods. These sonatas far exceeded those created by composers before and are considered to be the bridge between salon musicand the concert hall for solo pianorepertoire. The early sonatas follow the same traditions established by Mozart and Haydn and by the end of the late period are radically different from conventional form. The late sonatas, Op. 101, 106, 109, 110, and 111, are distinctly different from the other sonatas that came before in their style, forms, and composition. The pieces that I have chosen are the last five piano sonatas from Beethoven s late period. These pieces are reflective of the changes of Beethoven s compositional style as in his older age he began to stretch the limits of the classical style. The piano sonatas are reflective of what he was doing in all of his later works and are sort of condensed versions that still show the same ideas. Because piano sonatas were composed throughout his lifetime, they can be interpreted as a timeline of the changes in Beethoven s style of composing, particularly in the late sonatas. Beethoven had never been a very rapid composer and these five sonatas were the chief output of six years of work in the second to last decade of his life. • 45. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bananas deforestation and unhealthy soil cause erosion, and the runoff causes frequent flooding and damage from sedimentation. In a 1997 study done off the coast of Costa Rica, it was discovered that 60 percent of the coral reefs in Cahuita National Park had been severely damaged due to runoff from coastal bananaplantations (Cohen, 2009). Furthermore, bananas are grown as a mono culture, where all the bananas on a plantation are genetically identical. Although this makes crops easy to manage, these bananas face an increased risk of being wiped out by a single type of pest, fungi or disease, and will all be severely attacked if the pests develop resistance to pesticides. In order to prevent this from happening even more chemicals are used. It is estimated that 30 kilograms of pesticides are used per hectare per year on a banana plantation, whereas only 2.7 kilograms are used for the average European cereal crop (Cohen, 2009). The banana field workers (also called bananeros ), often untrained, and marginalized workers, lack sufficient precautionary instructions or protective equipments. According to Ivan Clavijos, an ex conventional banana producer, despite wearing masks, goggles, and gloves, chemical gases can still get absorbed in the workers clothes, and through sweats will enter the body, blood, and liver via pores on the skin, producing ammonia in the blood, or can result in loss of sight, hearing, or sterility, which he himself and many people he knows who work in banana ... Gender can be defined as those characteristics of men and women that are socially constricted and determined while sex is associated with characteristics that are biologically determined. There is a lack of demand and support for advanced research on women health and diseases, specifically decision makers, support staff, or even researchers and authors.
