New Year Resolution Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of New Year resolutions may seem deceptively simple at first
glance, given the widespread tradition of setting personal goals as the calendar turns. However,
delving into the intricacies of this theme poses a unique set of challenges. The difficulty lies in
striking a balance between personal introspection and broader societal perspectives, as
resolutions often embody both individual aspirations and collective desires for self-improvement.
To start, one must navigate the fine line between clichГ©s and originality. New Year resolutions,
being a ubiquitous topic, run the risk of falling into predictable patterns of thought. Generating
fresh insights demands a nuanced approach, requiring the writer to explore beyond the typical
promises of healthier living or enhanced productivity. The task involves extracting meaningful
narratives from personal experiences while avoiding the pitfalls of trite anecdotes.
Moreover, the psychological dimension adds another layer of complexity. Writing about
resolutions requires a delicate exploration of human motivation, the pitfalls of procrastination,
and the triumphs and tribulations that accompany the pursuit of change. This necessitates not
only a deep understanding of one's own aspirations but also an empathetic connection with the
reader, as resolutions often resonate universally.
Crafting a coherent structure poses yet another challenge. Balancing the personal narrative with
broader societal implications requires meticulous planning to avoid a disjointed essay. The writer
must seamlessly weave together introspective reflections, societal expectations, and the broader
cultural significance of resolutions, creating a cohesive narrative that engages the reader from
start to finish.
In conclusion, writing an essay on New Year resolutions is a task that demands more than just an
enumeration of personal goals. It calls for a synthesis of personal reflections and broader societal
context, an avoidance of clichГ©s, and a mastery of narrative structure. Navigating these
challenges requires skill, introspection, and a keen awareness of the complexities inherent in the
pursuit of self-improvement.

Struggles on Afghanistan
Afghanistan is a poor, landlocked country located in Central Asia. The country is
quite small, with barely any water close by. With barely a 5th of the US GDP,
Afghanistan is a underdeveloped country with little to no sanitation. Having about 6
million people with no access or poor welfare, the country has a low populationalong
with low life expectancy. This underdeveloped, desolate, war torn country has a long
continuing history. Being the 41st largest country in the world, the country s area is
652, 230 square kilometers. That would make the country slightly smaller than Texas.
Pakistan, China, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are some of the
countries surrounding Afghanistan. The country has NO bodies of water, is
landlocked, and is mostly made up of rugged mountains. Afghanistan has no
coastline, having barely any rain and humidity. Because of the country s location,
Afghanistan has hot summers. They are hotter than most countries because of
being landlocked. There are cold winters, because of the mountains. Based on the
country s size, the population is quite large. Afghanistan has a population of 31,
108, 077 Afghans.The US has a population of 316, 438, 601 americans. That is
about 10% of the US s population. Afghanistan s population growth rate is 2.29.
Did you know that Afghanistan males have a life expectancy of 48.81 years? Thats
29.35 less than US males life expectancy. The Afghan women live for a few years

Proctor Argument Essay
As defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, a proctor is one appointed to
supervise students at an examination (Merriam Webster.org, n.d). In the academic
community, proctored exams are considered the optimum solution. Once a student
takes an examination under the supervision of a proctor, the expertise has several
advantages. Proctored exams validate the integrity of a student s entire transcript.
once a final examination is run by an objective proctor, it lends significant credibility
to a student s incontestable mastery and ability of the topic. When a student takes
proctored exams, the expertise demonstrates that the scholar will perform during this
setting equally similarly as their traditionally schooled peers. Hence, The UoPeople
regulated the procedures of taking proctored exams and applied a set of rules
concerning the choice and the criteria of registering the proctor. University of the

(University of the People, 2016, p.44). Furthermore, a proctor must have adequate
and reliable access to the internet, as well as email services, and has to be be able to
ensure attendance with the student during the proctored examination. (University of
the People, 2016, p.45). However, UoPeople has constraints regarding the proctor s
choice. The proctor cannot be a relative of the student, a student at UoPeople or an
applicant, nor can the proctor have a conflict of interest or have any vested interest in
the student s grade or performance on his/her exam. Students are strictly prohibited
from offering the proctor any payment or other benefit in return for the proctor s
willingness to supervise the exam. (University of the People, 2016,
The Characters Of Bella Swan In The Twilight Saga
Bella Swan is the protagonists of the Twilight Saga, she is portrayed by actress
Kristen Stewart. The crisis experienced in Erik Erikson s first stage of
psychosocial development is trust vs mistrust. This stage infants have most
significant interpersonal relations with their caregiver so children learn whether
they can trust the world. When these needs are consistently met, the child will trust
the world and acquire the hope virtue. However, if these needs are not consistently
met, the child will develop malignancy, which they think the world is unsafe and
untrustworthy. In Bella s case, she failed to resolve this crisis, it was stated that
her mother wasn t a competent mother as she was recently divorced with a three
month old Bella. The outcome of this crisis was unfavorable because it led Bella to
lack a sense of security as she does not trust others, allow others to get to know her,
and prefers solitary activities. During the second stage of psychosocial
development, the crisis is autonomy vs shame and doubt. This stage emphasized
that the child has an opportunity to build self esteem and autonomy as he or she
learns new skills. If a child is cared with limits but with love, they will be
independent, which will develop into will power. On the other hand, if children do
not develop basic trust during infancy, then they will have a strong sense of shame
and doubt, or will become dependent. Bella resolved this crisis properly as she was
considered independent and assumed
Customer Service Process Of Customer Loyalty And Their...
Customer service is the process of interacting with the customers and the companies
to understand the customers demands and queries. The customer service is there for
each top restaurant who wants to provide a better dining experience to their
customers and to get feedbacks from them (Huemer and Setzer, 2011). The customer
servicehelps the company or the restaurants to understand the needs and demands of
its customers. By doing that, the company can retain their customers who become
loyal to the restaurant after certain period of being served and thus, the restaurant
wins the heart of its customers. The main objective in carrying out this research is to
determine the importance of customer service process in the acquisition of customer
loyalty and their retention to the restaurants in UK by taking the special reference of
top two restaurants where one is Berners Tavern and another is New London CafГ©.
1.1 Background of the Research
From various studies, it has been found that the restaurants are able to win the heart
of their customers through good quality and tasty food meals and by giving proper
services, which will fulfil their wishes. Therefore, a restaurant should look after the
demands and needs of its consumers and based on that should prepare its plan for
future in introducing new items in their menu and services (Padua, 2012). Different
groups and organizations already have carried out many researches but researches
about this particular topic are much less
Afric The Oldest Inhabited Territory On Earth
Africa is one of the most beautiful continents in the world from its numerous rich
resources to the diverse culture of the people who reside there. Africa is considered to
be the oldest inhabited territory on earth, with the human species originating from the
continent (New World Encyclopedia). Studying maps of Africafrom the centuries ago
and those from more recent times show how the perspective of the African continent
has changed over time. From the earliest map on record, I found out a lot about
how the African continent was perceived by the artist and presumably others
during that time period. The time in which this map was created is not known;
however, it was entitled Tabula Africa IIII . This map was written in Latin, which
was first Latium and used predominantly by the Romans (Cambridge University
Press). This map is very simplistic compared to all of the others and is not in color.
There are mountains, rivers, and seas depicted on this map. The cartographer used
humps to distinguish the mountainous areas from the surrounding plains. The
streams are also depicted in a different manner than the plains and mountains. The
names of some of the mountains are included, in addition to the names of countries
or inhabited areas; there are also names of some of the tribes who lived in Africa at
the time. An example is the Troglodite people who were known to live in caves, dens
or holes. The only animal name I could decipher was elephas which translated means
elephants.
I Am Considered For An Assignment As Sergeant First

Statement of Qualifications: To be considered for an assignment as Sergeant First
Class as the Troop B M.A.P.P.S. Coordinator. I believe that my background within
the Field Operations Section is both unique and extensive. During my 18 years
within the Field Operations Section, I have been fortunate enough to be selected to
the Tactical Patrol Unit, Newark Initiative and Metro North. I found each of these
assignments to be rewarding as well as invaluable to my development as a leader.
The vast experiences that I have gained in these assignments have also prepared
me for the next level of supervision. I believe that my experience as a detective also
provides me with additional insight and experience related to investigations which
distinguish me from my contemporaries. I was assigned for two and a half years to
Metro North, initially on the operations side before being selected to the
investigations side as a detective. This experience was invaluable because the
environment at this assignment is unlike any place else in the Division. This
assignment provided me with the experience of working with outside agencies, both
Local, State and Federal. After spending two and a half years at Metro North, I
returned to Netcong Station as a Senior Man and was promoted to Patrol Sergeantin
2009.
As a Patrol Sergeant, I was responsible for the direct supervision of Squad Members
at all critical incidents occurring during our patrol shift. I have been designated the

Tuskegee Airmen Impact
The impact of the Tuskegee Airmen include that they bettered education, built
confidence, expanded the army forces, and led to a stop of discrimination. The
Tuskegee Airmen were powerful, dedicated young men who became America s first
black military. They came from a period where they were thought of as lacking
intelligence, skill, courage, and patriotism. Besides this opinion, they worked to
prove that they were better than that. Members came from various states across the
U.S. including New York City, Washington, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Philadelphia.

Analysis on Fate of a Cockroach
Tawfiq al Hakim or Tawfik el Hakim, (October 9, 1898 July 26, 1987) was a
prominent Egyptian writer. He is one of the pioneers of the Arabic novel and drama.
He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, the son of an Egyptian wealthy judge and a
Turkish mother The triumphs and failures that are represented by the reception of his
enormous output of plays are emblematic of the issues that have confronted the
Egyptian drama genre as it has endeavored to adapt its complex modes of
communication to Egyptian society.

However, in spite of such critical controversies, he continued to write plays with
philosophical themes culled from a variety of cultural sources: Pygmalion (1942), an
interesting blend of the legends of Pygmalion and Narcissus; Sulayman el Hakim
(Solomon the Wise, 1943), and El Malik Udib (King Oedipus, 1949).
Some of el Hakim s frustrations with the performance aspect were diverted by an
invitation in 1945 to write a series of short plays for publication in newspaper
article form. These works were gathered together into two collections, Masrah el
Mugtama (Theatre of Society, 1950) and el Masrah el Munawwa (Theatre
Miscellany, 1956). The most memorable of these plays is Ughneyyet el Mawt (Death
Song), a one act play that with masterly economy depicts the fraught atmosphere in
Upper Egypt as a family awaits the return of the eldest son, a student in Cairo, in
order that he may carry out a murder in response to the expectations of a blood feud.
El Hakim s response to the social transformations brought about by the 1952
revolution, which he later criticized, was the play El Aydi El Na mah (Soft Hands,
1954). The soft hands of the title refer to those of a prince of the former royal
family who finds himself without a meaningful role in the new society, a position in
which he is joined by a young academic who has just finished writing a doctoral
thesis on the uses of the Arabic preposition hatta. The play explores in an
Television In The 1960 s
Television in the 1960s brought Americans closer through the stories and tragedies
they experienced. As televisions became more mainstream and affordable, more
people invested in them. The time was right for the industry to flourish. Between
1959 and 1970, the percentage of households in the U.S. with at least one TV went
from 88% to 96% (Ganzel). More people buying TVs meant that the industry grew
and the technology could improve. As satellite technology developed, it became
inevitable for satellite televisionto develop. The biggest leap of 1960s television
technology wise, was satellite usage (Thompson). With TV signals that could reach
far, and a TV in almost every American home, people felt more connected to the
world around them. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
News programs in the 60s were a major selling point in buying a television. Part of
television s success is due to the news being so relevant and reliable. In the 50s and
60s, news on the television made very informative and relevant content (Ganzel).
Television in the 60s had many fandoms and communities for its popular shows,
such as Star Trek. When many people have similar interests or like the same thing,
they usually get along. When Star Trek first aired, it wasn t very popular.
However, it has since gained a cult following and remains a very active franchise to
today (Feinstein, 12) Television in the 1960s opened a door to a source of
information and entertainment like never before. One of reasons Americans are so
united today is because television in the 60s showed people what they had in
common. Television signals weaved in and out of America, sewing us together and

Use Of Taxation And Its Effects On Income
Another policy that Thatcher implemented was the use of taxation, she preferred to
use indirect taxes rather than taxes on income and she also used VAT. Thatcher s
ultimate goal by doing this policy was to increase GDP, increase employment and
keep inflation at bay. The use of taxation had some good effects and some bad
effects. In many ways the taxpolicy introduced led to a use of policy mix and also
promised far too much which is why it all went wrong.
The policy included decreasing income tax and corporation tax but increasing
indirect tax and VAT. She reduced the income tax rate for the wealthy from 83
percent to 60 percent and the common rate was cut from 33 percent to 30 percent

2013), so in fact prices were higher than before, this increase in VAT is said to hit
the poor harder. This was said to be done to pay the loan that the Britain had from the
International Monetary Fund and to also create budget balance. Inflation, went from
above 15 percent in 1980 to
3 percent in 1986 as shown in figure 3. As you can see along with the decrease in
the interest rate, GDP was slowly rising in the economy as people were spending
more of their income as their GDP per capita was increasing shown in figure 4 and
people saw their income and wages become larger. This led to Britain s goods
/services and economy becoming more competitive and showing signs of recovery.
The tax policy was proving to be quite a success as it gave the economy much
needed revenue, throughout the 1980s revenue from the 90% tax on North Sea oil
extraction was used as a short term funding source to balance the economy and pay
the costs of reform (Wikipedia, 2015), this was helping the deficit and also allowing
for governments to spend some money on welfare benefits for the unemployed. This
revenue was never seen to have been acclaimed.
The fiscal and monetary squeeze, combined with increased revenues from the North
Sea oil led to an appreciation in the exchange rate (Hoskins, M. 2015), for
An Organization Is Super Important
Organization is super important. So when you organize your cables, it ll be very
easy for you to find things and have complete access. It is easier to find things in an
organized place than in a messy and cluttered place. By organizing, you know the
exact place where things are at and you would not have to spend hours finding
them. This is beneficial for us because it helps us to save time as well as energy.
Things should be organized in a way so that they are easily accessible. The empty
space that is created with organizing makes the house and or the working area look
more spacious. Arranging cablesand putting them into order automatically creates
space. Many a times, there are people, who say they need more space for their stuff.
When things are in less or in proper order, you need little space. A smaller home with
the proper arrangement maintenance can be sufficient and satisfying for you. Cable
management not only provides you with a cleaner and more organized space, it can
also extend the life and improve the performance of your cables! Cords that are
piled up on the floor or they hang slack behind equipment are more likely to suffer
damage from crushing or sagging.

Theory Of Forgiveness In Criminal Justice
Forgiveness is defined as to stop feeling anger toward someone who has done
something wrong or to stop blaming someone for the wrong in which they have
caused. It is also defined as the action or process of forgiving or being forgiven.
According to Bishop Butler, forgiveness is the forswearing of resentment the
resolute overcoming of the anger and hatred that are naturally directed toward a
person who has done one an unjustified and non excused moral injury (Joseph
Butler, 1726). Mercy is having compassion or kind forbearance that is shown
toward an offender, an enemy, or other persons in one s power. Mercy is also
known as the discretionary power of a judge to pardon someone or to mitigate
punishment, especially to send to prison rather than invoke the death penalty; an act
of kindness, compassion, or favor (CITE). Lastly, the theory of Retribution is used to
justify the need for punishment or in other words this is viewed as a way of getting

Semantic Search Based On Web Search Essay
The upcoming section will address the some of the architectural concepts put forth
by the scholars in semantic search and the prime concern of the paper; how the
semantic searching process will help in augmenting the result of web search.
Further, the paper will also put light on a proposal to build a semantic search based
on previous keyword search engine but with the added capability of Natural
Language Processing.
3.SEMANTIC SEARCH TECHNIQUES
This section describes different semantic methodologies being forwarded by the
scholars. Currently, various types of search engines are being deployed to access the
information required. Each search engine has its own features and uses different
algorithms to index, rank and present web documents. Hence the result put forth on
information retrieval by the search engines are different from one another. And there
is not a definite and unique single technology or architecture that leads to a logical
and meaningful search engine. In fact there can be various ways to achieve this.
G. Madhu, Dr. A. Govardhan, and Dr. TV Rajinikanth in their survey of intelligent
semantic web search engines have addressed the two types of research problems in
creating semantic search engine. The first problem of matching a query to the
concerned documents with related information in an intelligent and meaningful way
can be solved with semantic annotations to produce intelligent and meaningful
information by using query interface mechanism and
June 14 Essay
From the poets we ve read in the class, Apollinaire is one who has a certain flair to
him. The name Apollinaire is his own creation, one that as we speculated in class
could even be a sort of rhymed play after Baudelaire. He famously pioneered the
poem in the form of a calligram, a subversion of the norm with its melding together
of the verbal and visual. However, in spite of all this, his poem June 14, 1915
initially seems to lack that flashy flourish that is more visibly present in his other
writings, for example The Little Car. Even though it operates with a flare to an
arguably lesser degree, the poem still operates significantly with a modernist
sensibility. A marked modernist poetic practice within June 14, 1915 is how it... Show

Jacques-Louis David s Influence On The Enlightenment
In 19th century France, the Neoclassical art style arose, influenced by the classical
artistic style of Greco Roman society. Around this time, France encountered many
political, social and economic changes brought up mostly by the lower class French
citizens. Jacques Louis David was a highly influential Neoclassical artist during this
time. Commissioned by both Nobles and lower class citizens of France, he created
artworks such as the Oath of the Horatii (image 1), the Death of Marat(image 2), and
Napoleon Crossing the Alps (image 3). David s art represented the ideas of thinkers
of that time rather than just the ideals of that time. The purpose of David s art was to
gain the support of French citizens through artistic propaganda in order... Show more

Due to the time period in which David created art, some ideals of the
enlightenment may have been depicted, this, however, wasn t the main motive of
David s art. The enlightenment was a radically new synthesis of ideas about
humanity, reason, nature, and God that had arisen during classical Greek and
Roman times and during the Renaissance (Stokstad 898). In Napoleon Crossing the
Alps, the central figure of the painting is Napoleon. He was a war general who
gained popularity through conquest before making himself emperor in 1804. In
the painting, he is the largest and clearest figure depicted. This painting goes
against the ideas of the enlightenment such as separation of powers, where power is
split across three branches equally so that no one person would hold too much
power, which was a widely held ideal during the time (Spielvogel 28). This painting
does, however, serve as propaganda to depict Napoleon as a strong leader because
he is appearing to stay still and calm on a moving horse in order to show that even
through chaos he will remain a good leader for his people. Napoleon Crossing the
Alps conveys that the purpose of David s art wasn t to depict the ideals of the
enlightenment, but to influence the audience and to be used as

The Walking Dead represents fear, betrayal, sacrifice, hope, leadership and, the
conflict between good and bad. Fear, the main theme of the show, followed by
sacrifice is portrayed in every episode where everyone fears where are they going
to end the next day, where they find themselves questioning if that is their last day,
scared of losing a loved one and of course, the fear of being eaten by walkers .
Sacrifice, portrayed at its highest, on life or death situations where every character
feels torn between two options that may affect someone in one way or another, as
well when someone will die for the safety of others. Betrayal, one of the most
repetitive themes in the show that represents what will a person do to save himself
/herself in a life or death situation, and in this case, each character try to build up
alliances that at the end, they betray their own, which could lead to someone dying
or getting hurt, depending on the situation. Leadership and hope can be put
together since in the show, the main thing that a leader should do is give his/her
followers hope that everything can get better, and the show portrays it every time
Rick Grimes try to take matters on his hands for his group, considered as his family,
hope as well, as the birth of Rick s daughter, brought a more hopeful future for the
survivors. The walking dead represents each of these themes in a strong way, where

Should Fantasy Sports Be Legalized
State of New York vs DraftKings and FanDuel
Intro
Since the inception of fantasy sports companies, very few industries have grown this
significantly in such a short time span. Amidst the growth in popularity of daily
fantasy betting FanDuel and DraftKings are aggressively expanding to reach the 51
million current fantasy sports users in the US and Canada alone. Although fantasy
sports companies are growing in popularity they are also experiencing increased
scrutiny. Criticism stems from the belief that daily fantasy sports betting should be
illegal or heavily regulated at the state level since it is considered to be online
gambling.

By observing the recent growth in popularity of fantasy sports, there is no doubt that
the market will eventually have to be regulated or deemed illegal. However, given
the growth in appetite for sports gambling delegitimizing the regulated industry
would simply lead to a surge in illegal gambling.
According to an ESPN survey, approximately 38% of Americans admitted to betting
on sports in 2008.
The fact that the outcome is only determined partially by skill proves that their
business model comprises of betting and is therefore illegal according to law in the
state of New York.
DraftKings and FanDuel argue that since a small minority of costumers amass a
majority of the victories there is a significant level of skill involved.
They are pushing to convince the court that the players have an effect on the outcome
of the game and therefore the outcome is based on skill.
What is interesting about this case is the fact that the destiny of a whole industry that
is dominant in New York is dependent on this verdict.
The court s interpretation of the law is the key aspect of this case as it will
determine whether the companies activities are legal or

First Aid for Adults Essay
First Aid for Adults
For my listening piece I decided to do a talk on first aid for adults. I identified the
main characteristics of scripted speech and tried to emulate them in my piece. The
key characteristics of instructional speech are that it uses very short, concise
sentences to give directions. Long complex sentences can lead to ambiguity and

In my third and fourth drafts, I put the information into even smaller blocks to
emphasise the succinct style of writing because I felt that it was still too difficult to
follow; so I used more bullet points and used capitals, underlining and italics to
emphasise key words and phrases. Also in the graphology of the piece I have used
dashes in order to more effectively show where the reader would give a slight pause.
An example is in a hundred compressions a minute just under two a second .
In the third paragraph in particular, the sentences were too complex so having
originally written them as one complex sentence in the pluperfect tense, I broke them
down in to one point per sentence and put them in the present tense so that it would be
easier to understand. I also changed some of the verbs that were in the present tense
into the imperative form because it made the phonology sharper and clearer for the
audience to hear. One example is in the sentence After you have returned to the
casualty and rechecked their breathing and they are not breathing or if the likely
cause of unconsciousness is trauma or drowning and they are not breathing, you now
give two rescue breaths . The sentence was much too long and confusing so I
changed it to When you return to the casualty re check their breathing. If they are not
breathing or if the likely cause
Advantages And Differences Between Netflix And Netflix
1948 was the first year cable services began in the U.S. Since then cable has
evolved over the years and is becoming increasingly more expensive annually.
Nevertheless, several individuals are still selecting cable as their content provider,
when streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon exists. Streaming services
are a superior alternative to cable because they are convenient, offers a wide variety
of content for a reasonable price, provides content options based on viewer s

for the customers because they can stream the content from anywhere and anytime,

From multiple points of view, the history of spices industry is in the history of
humans and global commerce. The use of spices in food, cosmetics, and embalming
can be traced back to ancient Egyptians around 3000 B.C. In the course of time,
Spices demand increased and trade were spread out from Africa and Asia to the
Middle East, Mediterranean and Europe. The influence of spicetrade was able to
determine the rise and fall of nations based on each country s trading position. In
March 1602, the World s first publicly traded company best known as United East
India Company was created as a result of essence and expansion of the spice trade.
After that, the spice business continued to grow in the 20th century and by 2001 there
were over 150 spice manufactures in the United States.

The Role of Nobility in Sir Thomas Malory’s Tale of
Sir...
The value of nobility in the middle ages can hardly be questioned. The majority of
nobles lived a life of luxury, having riches beyond the wildest dreams of
commoners. When one thinks of medieval knights, nobility is often comes to
mind, but did knights have to be members of the noble class? Sir Thomas Malory s
The Tale of Sir Gareth examines this question and presents an interesting view as to
the true value of a knight. Malory uses the actions of important characters to reveal
his opinion that the nobility of a knight was secondary to his integrity, courage, and
benevolence. Many characters in Malory s world view nobility as an absolute must
and even a synonym for being a knight. Sir Kay is a telling example of this. In the...

After Sir Gareth leaves Lady Lyoness, disappointed that his prize has rejected him
for a year, she sends her brother Sir Gryngamour to retrieve Beaumains dwarf in
order to question it of Beaumains true name. Once she learns of Sir Gareth s
nobility she concludes she can love him (Malory 156). Sir Gareth s attempt to
regain his dwarf reveals another aspect of his knighthood, his masculinity, as he
threatens Sir Gryngamour if the dwarf isn t safely returned to him (Huber 52).
While there are no doubts that Lyoness is an important character, one has to
wonder about the importance Malory places on her views. Asking Sir Gareth to
prove himself for a year winning more fame was an absurd proposition, especially
considering his impressive victory through the Passage Perelous and defeat of the
Red Knight. Her actions prove her to be somewhat dimwitted. Malory uses Lyoness
to further expose the lack of value of nobility in a knight. Another minor character,
the dwarf, reveals other attributes of knighthood. When the dwarf is stolen by Sir
Gryngamour, Sir Gareth is given the opportunity to show off his masculinity, as he
challenges Sir Gryngamour to a fight to win the dwarf back (Huber 52). The dwarf
also gains fame for Sir Gareth when he removes the ring that disguises Sir Gareth
(Huber 53). After

The During Battle And The War Wars
From the beginning of time, war has been used to conquer lands, establish order,

The walls of the chariot, or the box, were generally leather with a lightweight
wooden frame. Within the box were two men, a driver and a warrior. Projecting
from the chariot was a long pole angled upward and attached to a yoke , which was
mounted on the horses backs. At first there were two horses pulling each chariot, it
is believed later on the setup was changed to fit four horses. On the right side of the
chariot, the driver s job was to control the horses and to get the warrior in the best
position to make his attacks. His attacks could be made with a bow and arrow, spear,
mace, sword or dagger, however the bow was normally a prime choice for the
average warrior. A typical warrior riding into battle was in full armor and ready to
defend his chariot at all costs. The use of chariots spread very quickly as their
effectiveness was easily recognizable. The Shang of China adopted the concept of
chariots and modified them to fit three men. These three men were made up of a
driver, a warrior and his servant whose role was to replenish his arrows and have
weapons ready for his use at all times. In the Chinese culture, the chariots were used
as a way to jump into a new social class as well. Horses were so rare to own and
expensive to acquire that only the few who were wealthy enough to buy horses were

Seat Belts
A seat belt is a restraining device installed in a vehicle to prevent or minimize the
force of an injury during a crash ( Seat Belts 5). Although it is also known as a
safety belt, the safety part is the key issue that is causing much controversy around
drivers, manufacturers, and researchers alike. The main idea around the debate is the
fact that although research indicates that when seat belts are used properly they save
lives, opponents argue that mandating their use can actually cause more harm than
good in some cases and is an infringement on personal rights. Car accidents are the
leading cause of death for people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freedom stops when we get to a point where others may be harmed or killed. As soon
as something puts lives in danger, the right of freedom disappears thus making
mandatory seatbelt laws a non infringement on freedom.
Seat belts are the single most effective traffic safety device for preventing death and
injury in a vehicle ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ). Wearing a seat belt can
reduce the risk of crash injuries by 50%. Seat belts save lives and are effective in
preventing ejections from a vehicle. While opponents argue that in certain cases it
is better to not wear a seatbelt, wearing a seatbelt is usually the safer route. A
person will never know what type of accident they might enter and thus can t
prepare for a certain type of accident. You can t know whether or not having a
seatbelt will save you. It s better to wear a seatbelt and have a 50% of survival than
not wearing a seatbelt and have a 3% chance of being in a situational accident
where not having a seat belt will save you. Research shows that Seat Belts saved
more than 75,000 lives from 2004 to 2008 ( Seat Belt Safety, Seat Belt Laws ).
Without the mandatory use of seat belts, many lives could be put in danger and
this would have negative social and economic effects on society. 49 States in the
USA have issued mandatory seat belt laws to promote safe habits and to protect the
people. With this law in place, many lives have been saved as people were forced to

Analysis Of The Poem The Duchess
Chaucer s Book of the Duchess has been widely debated as to when it was written
as this influences the interpretation of which historical figures were fashioned after
characters in the poem. The poem was written as a memorial for the death of
Duchess Blanche of Lancaster, whose husband John of Gaunt was a patron of
Chaucer s. Knowing the date that Chaucer wrote this poem affects the way in which
readers and audience at the time interpreted the poem. The initial response is to read
the Black Knight figure as John of Gaunt, because the character is lamenting the loss
of his love that is named Lady White in the poem. The French translation of White
is Blanche, which makes it evident that the poem is a type of tribute for her death.
Therefore the poem can be interpreted as the love between John of Gaunt and
Duchess Blanche, as well as his grief for her now that she has passed. The narrator
is interpreted to be Chaucer, as his status in the poem appears to be lower than the
Black Knight, and the narrator himself is dealing with a grief of his own though it
does not explicitly say whom he mourns. Chaucer has carefully woven historical
context through The Book of the Duchess by subtly inferring real medieval figures
with characters in the poem, as well as the many classical and medieval figures
from prominent Greek and Roman Myths, as well as Greek philosophers and
academics. Chaucer uses the death of Duchess Blanche as a reason to write The
Book of the Duchess as a means to appeal
The Controversy of Stem Cell Research Essays
The Controversy of Stem Cell Research
One of the most controversial topics these days is Stem Cell Research. There seems
to be a split opinion among societies about the research and whether it is socially
and morally acceptable. As a society, we need to open our minds to the possibility of
broadening our scientific horizons with stem cell research, and take the time to learn
and understand whatever we can about it.
There are a lot of people who don t know exactly what Stem Cell Research is which

Compare And Contrast The New England Middle And
Southern...
Introduction
The New England, Middle and Southern colonies were the part of the New World
which used to belong to the British. Although the colonies all had good things, all of
the regions had things that didnВґt help them grow as a region. Some colonies had
rocky soil for example. Having a good climate and a good topography is part of
agriculture, having materials to work is part of manufacturing. If no one has the right
materials than the most probable thing to happen is that people will not be as
productive as with the right materials.
Industry
Each of the three regions had different types of industry. The New England colonies
used to do shipbuilding activities, lumbering and fishing. In England the Pilgrims
built the Mayflower. That boat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for the New England colonies to have a lot of Pilgrims was because who

economic reasons. The Puritans usually would take African slaves for the Southern

When it was founded
The New England colonies where entirely founded when the Rhode Island was

The first colony from the Middle Colonies to be founded was Peter Minuit in 1626.

Endogenous Opioids And The Placebo Effect
Endogenous opioids are largely involved with the placebo effect, in which a patient
expects an improvement in their clinical status, and can result in the reduction of
pain without any real treatment. One of the main ideas behind this phenomenon is
the concept of expectation, which is a top down regulation of pain. An increase in
endogenous opioids can act upon the ON/OFF cells in the RVM, which can in effect
turn off the pain signal, or dampen it dramatically, hence the use of opioids as pain
killers. Proving the presence of opioids within the placebomechanism was determined
by using an opioid antagonist naloxone3, which was able to reduce the placebo effect
if there were strong expectation cues, but not as effectively when the expectation
How The Environment Affects A Person And Many Places
Places have a lot of significance tied to them depending on what they mean to
people. The place that I am going to talk about in this paper reminds me of a
peaceful place, because it has provided me with comfort and has allowed me to
grow within this calm place. Oxford Dictionary defines place as A building or area
used for a specified purpose or activity: the town has many excellent eating places .
Specific memories link with certain places that individuals go to, and have had them
shape them into who they are, or have guided them into having a better understanding
with what brings them peace. It has been shown that places actually do bring a
certain emotionor feelingonto a person, almost like an extra sense. Modern science is
confirming that people s thoughts, feelings and actions are indeed shaped not by just
their genes and neurochemistry, history and relationships but also by their
surroundings. How the environment affects a person and several places that are
considered by some cultures to be sacred and discussed. (Gallagher, 1993, p. 62)
A place that has an importance to me is the park behind Parkwood hospital. It has a
field with beautiful flowers that you can admire all day long, and there are also
walkways with a tiny waterfall followed with a couple of benches to be able to sit
down and admire the scenery. On the other side of it, there are picnic tables and
areas for families to come together and spend time with each other while admiring the

What Are The Phoenix Lights
The documentary closes by letting the viewers know about recent appearances made

or not those changes were negative or positive does not really matter for what truly

Case Study The Atlantic Division
A Divisional Previews The Atlantic Division 1. Boston Celtics With the big
offseason acquisition of Al Horford, the Celtics are hoping to change their recent
playoff history; the last two seasons have been two one and done, getting swept by
the Cavaliers and losing to the Hawks in six respectively. A big hole that the
previous two Celtics team had was at the center position. Night in and night out,
the center position was among the worst in terms of production. With Al Horford
now on the roster that hole is presumably filled. No longer will Celtics fans have to
rely on the often out of shape Jared Sullinger to bang down low against the much
bigger, more athletic big men that opposing team s possess. The presence of
Horford also clarifies Kelly Olynyk s role with the team Prior to Horford s arrival,
Olynyk was in and out of the starting lineup, often splitting time with Sulliger. Being
in a clear cut role as the second unit center will only help Olynyk develop as a player.

One thing Brad Stevens is going to have to find out about his team is who is the
definitive second unit point guard. With Terry Rosier, Marcus Smart, Demetrius
Jackson on the roster, all four could very well end up as that player. Regardless of
who wins the job, all four will likely see minutes, as Stevens is one of the most
creative coaches at creating lineups that utilize multiple
Adult Learning Reflection
It is humbling to begin a course, thinking that having just finished an educational
leadership program there won t be many moments of new learning only to find that
there is always new learning opportunity available. Isn t that the most important
takeaway from a course focused on adult learning. Oftentimes the parallel process
between what frustrates us the most and what we experience is hard to perceive
when we are living it. Valla (2000) posits one assumption of adult learningis that a
learning a change to oneself as a result of new knowledgeand skills, not simply the
acquisition of that knowledge or those skills. In studying how adults learn: what
motivates them, what needs are and what methodology is most engaging, I have
been able to improve my professional practice. My beliefs, attitudes, and practices
related to evidence based learning and teaching not only have become more refined,
but humbled. As I now realize that in honoring adult learners, just I as wish to be
honored I am better able to open myself to their needs the way I so easily am able
with students and in turn honor my own learning needs.
Elements of Evidenced Based Learning and Teaching It was through this ten week
study of the efficacy of research based instructional strategies to meet the unique
needs of adults that as a learner, I moved from frustration with the resistance of
teachers to professional development to a deeper understanding of developmentally
appropriate responses of adults,
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in China
The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution or the Cultural Revolution had been a
failed attempt at making China a stronger country. This revolution had destroyed
China s rich history. The period from 1966 to 1969 had been terrifying years in
which the Red Guards used violence to purge China of any anti communist sources.
Mao Zedonghad led the violence and turmoil in China after his failed attempt at the
Great Leap Forward. He relied on China s youth to change the traditional customs and
ideas. The students carried the Cultural Revolutionforward and were encouraged to
attack authority. Mao said, to rebel is justified. (par. 2, Schell). The stated goals of
the Cultural Revolution were to abolish the four olds, old customs, old... Show more

The rich culture throughout China was completely destroyed by the red guards. Not
only had the Red Guard utilized violence to enforce China s new communist ideals,
but also rid China of the old culture. The government leader, Zhou Enlai, stated in The
Liberation Army Daily,
We have vigorously to promote proletarian thoughts and smash bourgeois thoughts in
all the academic, educational, journalistic, art, literary, and other cultural circles...It is
of the utmost importance, involving the fate and future of our Party and our country.
(pg. 174, Karnow)
This statement from this critical leader shows the meaning behind their actions. Mao
Zedong wanted to promote his own ideals about communism in China. In order to do
so, Mao destroyed China s cultural elements that were created over the course of
thousands of years. All of the culture accumulated over this vast amount of time was
demolished for the sake of promoting the proletarian ideals. The horrendous actions of
smashing bourgeois thoughts show the goal of the Cultural Revolution. According to
Mao Zedong, promoting communism was going to push China towards becoming a
stronger country. But as shown in the lost history, accumulated throughout each era,
the Cultural Revolution was leading to a place far worse than before. Furthermore,
the police would be given names of the people that were enemies, giving them an
opportunity to look for objects from the old culture. Those who were found with

Difference Between Principle Based And Rule Based
Regulation
Q1. Outline the difference between Principles based and Rules based regulation.
The main difference between principle based and rule based regulation is the level
of detailed instruction involved. Rule based is a strict manner in how a body
should behave, whereas principle based regulation, is a guideline, leaving the body
with some freedom on how they comply with it. This distinction may not be clearly
defined. While in theory, the difference between both systems may be clear cut, in
practice, they may overlap, or a system may have to adopt a mixture of both rule
based and principle based regulation, Rules may become more principle like through
the addition of qualifications and exceptions, whereas principles may become more
rule like by the addition of best practices and requirements . Principle based
regulation involves a more broad approach than rule based. This involves moving
away from reliance on detailed, prescriptive rules and relying more on high level,
broadly stated rules or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They express the fundamental obligations that all in the industry should observe.
However, a principle based system can become more rules based when best
practices and requirements are introduced to give more certainty. Principle based
systems require more effort from the subject party. For the basis of evaluating the
consequences of a principle based system for managers and regulators the paper
BLACK, J. HOPPER, M. BAND, C.. (2007). Making a success of Principles based
regulation. is worth examining in detail.
The above study is quite relative to the question at hand. It looks intensely at the
Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the UK as they look to move regulation from
a rules based system to a more principles based one. The study also investigates the
factors they believe necessary to make the implementation of this more principle
based system
Building Information Modeling ( Bim ) And Geographical...
In recent years, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographical
Information Systems (GIS) have become an integral part of the construction industry
of today, with their rapid expansion and worldwide integration constantly leading to
new ways for us to collaborate and improve. One recent breakthrough for BIM has
come in the form of Cloud computing, which has revolutionized the speed at which
we can collaborate and communicate with each other. The use of Cloud and other
technologies such as the IoT (Internet of Things) are just a few areas that the AEC
sector can exploit within the idea of CityInformation Modeling (CIM).
This paper discusses the current problems associated with BIM and GIS; while the
use of Cloud storage in BIM ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By April 2016 BIM will be compulsory for all UK public sector construction
projects. It has yet to be adopted globally, but within the next decade it will be as
integral to the construction industry as CAD is today. It should not be seen as an
updated version of CAD rather a promotion for integration and innovation. BIM
provides a way for all members of a design team to collaborate on every scale,
efficiently and mistake free, to avoid costly mistakes and delays. Geographical
Information Systems (GIS) also have a big role to play in the future of the AEC
sector, providing alternative approaches and unique outcomes.
The problems with BIM and GIS are hardly few and far between, but interoperability
between the two has huge potential to produce benefits to the industry in areas such
as security and urban planning. The introduction of Cloud computing has the
possibility to vastly expand our ability to create such highly technical models.
Furthermore, the importance of real time analysis on buildings and cities can
undoubtedly lead to more sophisticated, time saving processes that ease our
understanding of BIM and help invigorate smarter engineering methods. But the
question we may ask is, how can this assimilation between BIM and GIS, as well as
countless new technology trends, lead to better, more advanced city models in the
future?

The Presidential Management Fellows Program Essay
Presidential Management Fellows Program I am a perfect candidate for the
Presidential Management Fellows Program as I have gained a lots knowledge
during my Master s in Biotechnology Specialized in Regulatory Affairs program at
the University of Maryland University College. I have completed 30 credits until
now with GPA 4.0/4.0 and I am graduating in December, 2016. I gained a lot of
knowledge about how drugs, biologic and medical devices are developed and
approved by different regulatory agencies worldwide. During My Bachelor
courses, I have learned about human anatomy, physiology and other health sciences
subjects. During my diploma courses at Montgomery College, Germantown, MD, I
learn lots about cell culture, bioreactor, human genome, DNA and RNA extraction,
PCR, qPCR, Elisa, SDS Page Gel and other molecular techniques. During my
Master Courses at the University of Maryland University College each and every
subject, we had to complete a group project and submit it within the certain time
frame. It was a very challenging task as people were in my group was in different
time zones and everybody was doing a job and has a household responsibility.
Most of the time, I was leading my team, as I like to work in advance to complete
the project before the deadline. I was preparing a meeting agenda for my project

3 Pick I Loved Analysis
The Hot List Three Picks I Loved Three Picks I Hated Picks I Loved 1. Mario
Hezonja to the Magic (5th Overall) I absolutely love this pick by Orlando. Every
video I ve watched and every scouting report I ve read, has completely sold me on
Hezonja as a legit NBA pro. He has an NBA like domineer. He s good and he
knows it. He has Kobe like confidence, in that he isn t afraid to miss a big shot.
When he gets hot, Hezonja is a lights out shooter. He attacks the rim relentlessly
and isn t afraid of contact. He ll go right at an opposing defender without fear of
being thrown to the ground. The Magic needed a wing player who could score and
defend. They got that with Hezonja. He is a perfect fit and is a great replacement for

the table like his fellow rookie teammates; nope he flat out dropped it. 2. Frank
Kaminsky to the Hornets (9th Overall) Four first round picks and two second
round picks The Hornets think Frank Kaminsky is worth more than that. I was
shocked when I heard this. How can a team pass up four first round picks for Frank
Kaminsky? Not only did they pass up the picks, but also if they had taken the
trade, they would have moved down to pick 16 and Kaminsky likely still would
have been on the draft board. I am still baffled by the Hornets decision to reject that
trade. Not only do I think the organization made a bad move by rejecting the trade,
but also I think, Kaminsky will be a role player at best in the NBA. He ll stick around
for a while because he s a seven footer who can hit a mid range shot. He is a below
average post player and he s a liability on defense. He shies away from contact and
according to some scouts is Hard to get along with . Charlotte needed a big man, but
Kaminsky might have been available at 16, but if he weren t, there would have been

Changes in Policy after School Shootings
Policies have changed since the shooting happened in Littleton, Colorado. Before
Columbine the primary goal of law enforcement officers before and during a
shooting was to set up a perimeter and await arrival of SWAT members (Erickson,
2001). This policy has changed in many states including Pennsylvania where police
had been preparing for active shooters with local schools. Police are not able to wait
the twenty minutes to an hour for SWAT to arrive at a scene which is why the state
mandated that local police receive active shooting training (Coughlin, 2012). This
response and a brochure that the Department of Homeland Security came out with
are allowing schools a better chance of eliminating a shooter with less causalities and
injuries. This brochure goes into to profile of an active shooter, how to respond to an
active shooter, how to respond when law enforcement arrives, training staff for an
active shooter, preparing for and managing an active shooter situation, recognizing
workplace violence, managing the consequences of an active shooter, and lessons
learned (DHS, 2008). Recommendations were made following the shooting to
implement a command center with personnel able to take command at the beginning
of a crisis, control assembled personnel, and to communicate objectives clearly
(Erickson, 2001). This came after the failure of law enforcement to set up a successful
command center whereas Fire and EMS successfully instituted an incident command
center based on
Their Eyes Were Watching God Narrative
Folk legends and histories are an integral aspect of any cultural context, and it
seems that Zora Neale Hurston s novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God appears to
relate to the reader the story of Janie in a narrative fashion much of the cultural
components of African Americans in the deep south. Through her background as a
collector of African American folklore, Hurston uses this feminist novel tells the
coming of age story of a young black woman in a southern Florida town who tries to
find her true voice and sense of self throughout the trial and travails of her three
marriages. That sense of voice become much more realistic and believable due to the
author s insistence on using various voices in relating the story, so that throughout the

Paul Zindel s The Pigman With Connections
The Pigman Essay
The depth of the love of parents for their children cannot be measured. It is like no
other relationship. It exceeds concern for life itself. The love of a parent for a child is
continuous and transcends heartbreak and disappointment. James E. Faust. The
parents in our lives are the key people that guide us through the challenges we
encounter later on in our futures.
The definition of a disciplinarian is a person who believes in or practices firm
discipline. Although many parents strive for this trait, shouldn t parents also be the

This is one of the many traits that makes a well rounded parent. Some other traits
could be devoted, attentive, compassionate, loving, and caring. In the book, Mr.
Pignati would have been a great parent substitute for Lorraine s mother and John s
parents because he really wanted to get to know Lorraine and John, he wanted to
spend quality time with them. For example, when Mr. Pignati took John and
Lorraine to the store, Now you pick out some things you d like to try. He smiled at
me. John had already picked out a carton of tiger s milk and a box of chocolate
covered ants. Ugh. Anything to be weird. Please, Mr. Pignati insisted. (90). Mr.

good father figure because he takes the time and effort to attend the zoo with them,

Perceptions of the 18th Century Novel in Ian Watt s Book, The Rise of The Novel
The eighteenth century novel was one that changed the way novels were written in
many different ways. In reading Ian Watt s book, The Rise of The Novel, quite a few
things were brought to my attention concerning the eighteenth century novel; not
only in how it was written and what went into it, but how readers perceived it. This
essay will look into Ian Watt s perceptions on the eighteenth century novel and how it
changed from previous literature.
Coming out of the Renaissance and Jacobean ages, the novel was characterized by
realism , with the term novel not really being used until the end of the eighteenth
century. This realism was not defined... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the novel, the characters were named using both given and surname so as to
suggest them as particular individuals, breaking traditional form but adding to the
reality of the character. Personal identity, where the individual was in touch with his
own continuing identity through memory of his past actions. (21 ) was also
important in that it individualized characters using the background of a particular
time and place. The novel, unlike past literature, now used past experience as the
cause of present action, insisting on time whereas in mediaeval and renaissance
literature the action was usually restricted to a 24 hour period in a general and vague
place. Lastly, but still significant, the adoption of prose style was used oftentimes to
give a feeling of authenticity to a work, trying to make it seem to be an authentic
account of the actual experiences of individuals. (27) Whereas previous literature
concerned itself with the extrinsic, the novel concerns itself with the intrinsic,
becoming greatly detailed in words but lacking somewhat in formal conventions.
Not only for the differences in plot (for what little plot there was), character and
writing style, but because of the reading audience of the eighteenth century was the
novel a great success.
A Fantastic Woman
The film A Fantastic Woman was directed by the Chilean auteur Sebastian Lelio. The
film challenges the social standards of gender and takes on the loss of a loved one.
Through the use of non diegetic sound and different cinematographic techniques, the
film is able to convey the character s emotions while also invoking the emotions of
the audience. These elements also help to establish a genre for the movie and
determine the meaning of the films title.
A Fantastic Womanconveys the pain and struggles of grief as we follow a woman,
Marina, whose lover, Orlando, dies when they are together. Orlando left his wife and
family for Marina and drama ensues over possession, mourning, and privacy as the
family fights to erase Marina from their lives, ... Show more content on

The most interesting aspect to me was that different emotional effects could come
from the same, or similar, music. In the hospital and assault scenes, we hear the
same instrumental song, a fast beat with a soft high pitched chorus. In the hospital
scene, it adds to the dramatic effect; the fast paced beat goes with the race against
the clock to save Orlando. In the assault scene the fast paced beat creates a sense of
intensity and fear, while the softer chorus creates a sense of contrast between the
grieving theme and the intense nature of the moment. At the end of the movie,
when Marina hallucinates to find Orlando in the crematorium, we hear a song with
a very similar, high pitched chorus, but with a slower beat. This offers a less
intense effect and emphasizes the mysterious nature of the chorus. The major
difference in this scene is that the song is allowed to progress. In the beginning and
the middle of the film, the music seemed stuck in a never ending loop, just as
Marina was stuck in a state of sadness and loneliness. In this scene, on the other
hand, the song progresses as Marina and Orlando come together in the hallway. This
change through the film from repeating to progressed music helps to establish a
meaning of what it takes to be a woman when society doesn t see you that way. The
music, like Marina, experiences the effect of being stuck, but the ability to
A Lesson Before Dying Analysis
A Lesson Before Dying is a deceptively simple novel that explores numerous
complex themes. Which also explores a prison experience. Set in the fictional
community of Bayonne, Louisiana, in the late 1940s, A Lesson Before Dying tells
the story of Jefferson, a twenty one year old uneducated black field worker
wrongfully accused and convicted of the robbery and murder of a white man, and
sentenced to death by electrocution.
Gaines uses harsh language to reflect the spiritual and personal alienation of humans
in the twentieth century. In a sense, this book is more about the injustice in the
world thanks to racism than actually presenting a treatise on how to live life. Yet
arguably, we can infer such lessons from the way in which the novel presents us
with a world where obvious injustice and inhumanity exists. Clearly, the conviction
and execution of Jefferson is a prime example of this injustice deriving from racism.
The way that he innocently accepts a ride from two men and then is implicated in a
violent struggle, in spite of his lack of understanding of what is really happening, is
enough to give him the death sentence.
Ernest J. Gaines who was born in Oscar Louisiana who is a writer whose fiction, as
exemplified by The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman (1971), his most acclaimed
work, reflects African Americanexperience and the oral tradition of his rural
Louisiana childhood. The three primary characters I chose would be Tante Lou, Miss
Emma, and Reverend Ambrose. I

Effect of The Immersion of Manga
A Brief Take on Comic Books Counterpart.
Are you an Otaku? A growing group of people, united, fans of Anime and Manga all
over the world call themselves this name, but how did this craze begin?
What is Manga s appeal?
Manga is a Japanese graphic novel, known most commonly to be similar to
traditional Comic Books from the US. The differences lie in the art styles, genre and
reading ways. Unlike the comic books featuring superheroes, Japanese Manga
focuses on issues from psychological insights to school life and historical stories.
Manga also has a very different feel from Comic Books due to the natural shading
and black and white themes. Although Manga is now available in many bookstores
all over the world, the transition from Manga being exotic to a common reading
material took a long time and three major steps until it became inspiration to people
outside of Japan.

The Japanese culture in the US was feared until the 1990s to build in a foreign culture
deeply through Japanization . The term refers to the way that a country or area can
become influenced and converted into a culture that it is not such as the Japanese
culture being woven into US culture. Because cultural differences set areas apart, the
Japanese language and ways may seem new or exotic. Additionally this otherness
encouraged the rise of the integration and introduction of Manga. The Anime and
Manga appreciating communities stood as a minority and slowly through the efforts
of curiosity and encouragement of fans, the artform known as Manga arrived in
America. First, publishers started to get a feel for what the common people could take

New Year Resolution Essay. New Years resolution guide Jostens New year resolution essay, High ...

  • 1. New Year Resolution Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of New Year resolutions may seem deceptively simple at first glance, given the widespread tradition of setting personal goals as the calendar turns. However, delving into the intricacies of this theme poses a unique set of challenges. The difficulty lies in striking a balance between personal introspection and broader societal perspectives, as resolutions often embody both individual aspirations and collective desires for self-improvement. To start, one must navigate the fine line between clichГ©s and originality. New Year resolutions, being a ubiquitous topic, run the risk of falling into predictable patterns of thought. Generating fresh insights demands a nuanced approach, requiring the writer to explore beyond the typical promises of healthier living or enhanced productivity. The task involves extracting meaningful narratives from personal experiences while avoiding the pitfalls of trite anecdotes. Moreover, the psychological dimension adds another layer of complexity. Writing about resolutions requires a delicate exploration of human motivation, the pitfalls of procrastination, and the triumphs and tribulations that accompany the pursuit of change. This necessitates not only a deep understanding of one's own aspirations but also an empathetic connection with the reader, as resolutions often resonate universally. Crafting a coherent structure poses yet another challenge. Balancing the personal narrative with broader societal implications requires meticulous planning to avoid a disjointed essay. The writer must seamlessly weave together introspective reflections, societal expectations, and the broader cultural significance of resolutions, creating a cohesive narrative that engages the reader from start to finish. In conclusion, writing an essay on New Year resolutions is a task that demands more than just an enumeration of personal goals. It calls for a synthesis of personal reflections and broader societal context, an avoidance of clichГ©s, and a mastery of narrative structure. Navigating these challenges requires skill, introspection, and a keen awareness of the complexities inherent in the pursuit of self-improvement. If you find yourself struggling with such assignments or need assistance with essay writing on various topics, consider exploring resources like HelpWriting.net, where you can find professional writing services to aid you in crafting well-researched and well-articulated essays on a wide range of subjects. • 2. Struggles on Afghanistan Afghanistan is a poor, landlocked country located in Central Asia. The country is quite small, with barely any water close by. With barely a 5th of the US GDP, Afghanistan is a underdeveloped country with little to no sanitation. Having about 6 million people with no access or poor welfare, the country has a low populationalong with low life expectancy. This underdeveloped, desolate, war torn country has a long continuing history. Being the 41st largest country in the world, the country s area is 652, 230 square kilometers. That would make the country slightly smaller than Texas. Pakistan, China, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan are some of the countries surrounding Afghanistan. The country has NO bodies of water, is landlocked, and is mostly made up of rugged mountains. Afghanistan has no coastline, having barely any rain and humidity. Because of the country s location, Afghanistan has hot summers. They are hotter than most countries because of being landlocked. There are cold winters, because of the mountains. Based on the country s size, the population is quite large. Afghanistan has a population of 31, 108, 077 Afghans. The US has a population of 316, 438, 601 americans. That is about 10% of the US s population. Afghanistan s population growth rate is 2.29. Did you know that Afghanistan males have a life expectancy of 48.81 years? Thats 29.35 less than US males life expectancy. The Afghan women live for a few years longer based on life
  • 3. Proctor Argument Essay As defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary, a proctor is one appointed to supervise students at an examination (Merriam Webster.org, n.d). In the academic community, proctored exams are considered the optimum solution. Once a student takes an examination under the supervision of a proctor, the expertise has several advantages. Proctored exams validate the integrity of a student s entire transcript. once a final examination is run by an objective proctor, it lends significant credibility to a student s incontestable mastery and ability of the topic. When a student takes proctored exams, the expertise demonstrates that the scholar will perform during this setting equally similarly as their traditionally schooled peers. Hence, The UoPeople regulated the procedures of taking proctored exams and applied a set of rules concerning the choice and the criteria of registering the proctor. • 4. The Characters Of Bella Swan In The Twilight Saga Bella Swan is the protagonists of the Twilight Saga, she is portrayed by actress Kristen Stewart. The crisis experienced in Erik Erikson s first stage of psychosocial development is trust vs mistrust. This stage infants have most significant interpersonal relations with their caregiver so children learn whether they can trust the world. When these needs are consistently met, the child will trust the world and acquire the hope virtue. However, if these needs are not consistently met, the child will develop malignancy, which they think the world is unsafe and untrustworthy. In Bella s case, she failed to resolve this crisis, it was stated that her mother wasn t a competent mother as she was recently divorced with a three month old Bella. The outcome of this crisis was unfavorable because it led Bella to lack a sense of security as she does not trust others, allow others to get to know her, and prefers solitary activities. During the second stage of psychosocial development, the crisis is autonomy vs shame and doubt. This stage emphasized that the child has an opportunity to build self esteem and autonomy as he or she learns new skills. If a child is cared with limits but with love, they will be independent, which will develop into will power. On the other hand, if children do not develop basic trust during infancy, then they will have a strong sense of shame and doubt, or will become dependent. Bella resolved this crisis properly as she was considered independent and assumed

The customer service is there for each top restaurant who wants to provide a better dining experience to their customers and to get feedbacks from them (Huemer and Setzer, 2011). • 6. Afric The Oldest Inhabited Territory On Earth Africa is one of the most beautiful continents in the world from its numerous rich resources to the diverse culture of the people who reside there. Africa is considered to be the oldest inhabited territory on earth, with the human species originating from the continent (New World Encyclopedia). Studying maps of Africafrom the centuries ago and those from more recent times show how the perspective of the African continent has changed over time. From the earliest map on record, I found out a lot about how the African continent was perceived by the artist and presumably others during that time period. The time in which this map was created is not known; however, it was entitled Tabula Africa IIII . This map was written in Latin, which was first Latium and used predominantly by the Romans (Cambridge University Press). This map is very simplistic compared to all of the others and is not in color. There are mountains, rivers, and seas depicted on this map. The cartographer used humps to distinguish the mountainous areas from the surrounding plains. The streams are also depicted in a different manner than the plains and mountains. The names of some of the mountains are included, in addition to the names of countries or inhabited areas; there are also names of some of the tribes who lived in Africa at the time. An example is the Troglodite people who were known to live in caves, dens or holes. The only animal name I could decipher was elephas which translated means elephants.

I believe that my background within the Field Operations Section is both unique and extensive. During my 18 years within the Field Operations Section, I have been fortunate enough to be selected to the Tactical Patrol Unit, Newark Initiative and Metro North. I found each of these assignments to be rewarding as well as invaluable to my development as a leader. The vast experiences that I have gained in these assignments have also prepared me for the next level of supervision. I believe that my experience as a detective also provides me with additional insight and experience related to investigations which distinguish me from my contemporaries. I was assigned for two and a half years to Metro North, initially on the operations side before being selected to the investigations side as a detective. This experience was invaluable because the environment at this assignment is unlike any place else in the Division. This assignment provided me with the experience of working with outside agencies, both Local, State and Federal. After spending two and a half years at Metro North, I returned to Netcong Station as a Senior Man and was promoted to Patrol Sergeantin 2009. As a Patrol Sergeant, I was responsible for the direct supervision of Squad Members at all critical incidents occurring during our patrol shift. I have been designated the Incident Commander at

  • 9. Tuskegee Airmen Impact The impact of the Tuskegee Airmen include that they bettered education, built confidence, expanded the army forces, and led to a stop of discrimination. The Tuskegee Airmen were powerful, dedicated young men who became America s first black military. They came from a period where they were thought of as lacking intelligence, skill, courage, and patriotism. Besides this opinion, they worked to prove that they were better than that. Members came from various states across the U.S. including New York City, Washington, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Philadelphia. Patterson urged African Americans at Tuskegee to seek greater opportunities in vocational education. He emphasized better education in trades and programmatic acceptance of racial segregation. He wanted blacks to have access to the technologically advanced, high paying jobs and prepare them for careers as pilots. He bettered aviation mechanics, air traffic controllers, and flight instructors. By the end of the war, 992 men had graduated from Negro Air Corps pilot training at Tuskegee; 450 were sent overseas for combat assignment. During the same period, about 150 lost their lives while in training or on combat flights, and 32 were held as POWs by the Nazis. Despite the desire of seeing black men in the military forces, they worked against this idea. The aviation worked hard, and tried to be the best they could be. They weren t afraid to face challenges. They received more than 10,000 supporters during World War 2 because of their confidence. Their success in combat would show blacks and whites that blacks didn t lack the duties of a citizen and therefore deserved citizenship and equal
  • 10. Analysis on Fate of a Cockroach Tawfiq al Hakim or Tawfik el Hakim, (October 9, 1898 July 26, 1987) was a prominent Egyptian writer. He is one of the pioneers of the Arabic novel and drama. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, the son of an Egyptian wealthy judge and a Turkish mother The triumphs and failures that are represented by the reception of his enormous output of plays are emblematic of the issues that have confronted the Egyptian drama genre as it has endeavored to adapt its complex modes of communication to Egyptian society. However, in spite of such critical controversies, he continued to write plays with philosophical themes culled from a variety of cultural sources: Pygmalion (1942), an interesting blend of the legends of Pygmalion and Narcissus; Sulayman el Hakim (Solomon the Wise, 1943), and El Malik Udib (King Oedipus, 1949). Some of el Hakim s frustrations with the performance aspect were diverted by an invitation in 1945 to write a series of short plays for publication in newspaper article form. These works were gathered together into two collections, Masrah el Mugtama (Theatre of Society, 1950) and el Masrah el Munawwa (Theatre Miscellany, 1956). The most memorable of these plays is Ughneyyet el Mawt (Death Song), a one act play that with masterly economy depicts the fraught atmosphere in Upper Egypt as a family awaits the return of the eldest son, a student in Cairo, in order that he may carry out a murder in response to the expectations of a blood feud. El Hakim s response to the social transformations brought about by the 1952 revolution, which he later criticized, was the play El Aydi El Na mah (Soft Hands, 1954). The soft hands of the title refer to those of a prince of the former royal family who finds himself without a meaningful role in the new society, a position in which he is joined by a young academic who has just finished writing a doctoral thesis on the uses of the Arabic preposition hatta. Use Of Taxation And Its Effects On Income Another policy that Thatcher implemented was the use of taxation, she preferred to use indirect taxes rather than taxes on income and she also used VAT. Inflation, went from above 15 percent in 1980 to 3 percent in 1986 as shown in figure 3. As you can see along with the decrease in the interest rate, GDP was slowly rising in the economy as people were spending more of their income as their GDP per capita was increasing shown in figure 4 and people saw their income and wages become larger. This led to Britain s goods /services and economy becoming more competitive and showing signs of recovery. The tax policy was proving to be quite a success as it gave the economy much needed revenue, throughout the 1980s revenue from the 90% tax on North Sea oil extraction was used as a short term funding source to balance the economy and pay the costs of reform (Wikipedia, 2015), this was helping the deficit and also allowing for governments to spend some money on welfare benefits for the unemployed. It is easier to find things in an organized place than in a messy and cluttered place. By organizing, you know the exact place where things are at and you would not have to spend hours finding them. This is beneficial for us because it helps us to save time as well as energy. Things should be organized in a way so that they are easily accessible. The empty space that is created with organizing makes the house and or the working area look more spacious. Arranging cablesand putting them into order automatically creates space. The name Apollinaire is his own creation, one that as we speculated in class could even be a sort of rhymed play after Baudelaire. However, in spite of all this, his poem June 14, 1915 initially seems to lack that flashy flourish that is more visibly present in his other writings, for example The Little Car. In Napoleon Crossing the Alps, the central figure of the painting is Napoleon. He was a war general who gained popularity through conquest before making himself emperor in 1804. This painting goes against the ideas of the enlightenment such as separation of powers, where power is split across three branches equally so that no one person would hold too much power, which was a widely held ideal during the time (Spielvogel 28). This painting does, however, serve as propaganda to depict Napoleon as a strong leader because he is appearing to stay still and calm on a moving horse in order to show that even through chaos he will remain a good leader for his people. Sacrifice, portrayed at its highest, on life or death situations where every character feels torn between two options that may affect someone in one way or another, as well when someone will die for the safety of others. • 30. Analysis Of The Poem The Duchess Chaucer s Book of the Duchess has been widely debated as to when it was written as this influences the interpretation of which historical figures were fashioned after characters in the poem. The poem was written as a memorial for the death of Duchess Blanche of Lancaster, whose husband John of Gaunt was a patron of Chaucer s. Knowing the date that Chaucer wrote this poem affects the way in which readers and audience at the time interpreted the poem. The initial response is to read the Black Knight figure as John of Gaunt, because the character is lamenting the loss of his love that is named Lady White in the poem. The French translation of White is Blanche, which makes it evident that the poem is a type of tribute for her death. Therefore the poem can be interpreted as the love between John of Gaunt and Duchess Blanche, as well as his grief for her now that she has passed. The narrator is interpreted to be Chaucer, as his status in the poem appears to be lower than the Black Knight, and the narrator himself is dealing with a grief of his own though it does not explicitly say whom he mourns. Chaucer has carefully woven historical context through The Book of the Duchess by subtly inferring real medieval figures with characters in the poem, as well as the many classical and medieval figures from prominent Greek and Roman Myths, as well as Greek philosophers and academics. Chaucer uses the death of Duchess Blanche as a reason to write The Book of the Duchess as a means to appeal

As a society, we need to open our minds to the possibility of broadening our scientific horizons with stem cell research, and take the time to learn and understand whatever we can about it. There are a lot of people who don t know exactly what Stem Cell Research is which contributes to why a lot of people seem so against it. • 37. Endogenous Opioids And The Placebo Effect Endogenous opioids are largely involved with the placebo effect, in which a patient expects an improvement in their clinical status, and can result in the reduction of pain without any real treatment. One of the main ideas behind this phenomenon is the concept of expectation, which is a top down regulation of pain. An increase in endogenous opioids can act upon the ON/OFF cells in the RVM, which can in effect turn off the pain signal, or dampen it dramatically, hence the use of opioids as pain killers. Proving the presence of opioids within the placebomechanism was determined by using an opioid antagonist naloxone3, which was able to reduce the placebo effect if there were strong expectation cues, but not as effectively when the expectation

The place that I am going to talk about in this paper reminds me of a peaceful place, because it has provided me with comfort and has allowed me to grow within this calm place. Oxford Dictionary defines place as A building or area used for a specified purpose or activity: the town has many excellent eating places . It has yet to be adopted globally, but within the next decade it will be as integral to the construction industry as CAD is today. BIM provides a way for all members of a design team to collaborate on every scale, efficiently and mistake free, to avoid costly mistakes and delays. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) also have a big role to play in the future of the AEC sector, providing alternative approaches and unique outcomes. The problems with BIM and GIS are hardly few and far between, but interoperability between the two has huge potential to produce benefits to the industry in areas such as security and urban planning. In this book, Mr. pignati would be a good father figure because he takes the time and effort to attend the zoo with them, and get to know them individually like each of their parents should be

Perceptions of the 18th Century Novel in Ian Watt s Book, The Rise of The Novel The eighteenth century novel was one that changed the way novels were written in many different ways. In reading Ian Watt s book, The Rise of The Novel, quite a few things were brought to my attention concerning the eighteenth century novel; not only in how it was written and what went into it, but how readers perceived it. This essay will look into Ian Watt s perceptions on the eighteenth century novel and how it changed from previous literature. Coming out of the Renaissance and Jacobean ages, the novel was characterized by realism , with the term novel not really being used until the end of the eighteenth century. This realism was not defined... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the novel, the characters were named using both given and surname so as to suggest them as particular individuals, breaking traditional form but adding to the reality of the character. Personal identity, where the individual was in touch with his own continuing identity through memory of his past actions. (21 ) was also important in that it individualized characters using the background of a particular time and place. The novel, unlike past literature, now used past experience as the cause of present action, insisting on time whereas in mediaeval and renaissance literature the action was usually restricted to a 24 hour period in a general and vague place. Lastly, but still significant, the adoption of prose style was used oftentimes to give a feeling of authenticity to a work, trying to make it seem to be an authentic account of the actual experiences of individuals. (27) Whereas previous literature concerned itself with the extrinsic, the novel concerns itself with the intrinsic, becoming greatly detailed in words but lacking somewhat in formal conventions. Not only for the differences in plot (for what little plot there was), character and writing style, but because of the reading audience of the eighteenth century was the novel a great success.
  • 54. A Fantastic Woman The film A Fantastic Woman was directed by the Chilean auteur Sebastian Lelio. The film challenges the social standards of gender and takes on the loss of a loved one. Through the use of non diegetic sound and different cinematographic techniques, the film is able to convey the character s emotions while also invoking the emotions of the audience. These elements also help to establish a genre for the movie and determine the meaning of the films title. A Fantastic Womanconveys the pain and struggles of grief as we follow a woman, Marina, whose lover, Orlando, dies when they are together. Orlando left his wife and family for Marina and drama ensues over possession, mourning, and privacy as the family fights to erase Marina from their lives, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most interesting aspect to me was that different emotional effects could come from the same, or similar, music. In the hospital and assault scenes, we hear the same instrumental song, a fast beat with a soft high pitched chorus. In the hospital scene, it adds to the dramatic effect; the fast paced beat goes with the race against the clock to save Orlando. In the assault scene the fast paced beat creates a sense of intensity and fear, while the softer chorus creates a sense of contrast between the grieving theme and the intense nature of the moment. At the end of the movie, when Marina hallucinates to find Orlando in the crematorium, we hear a song with a very similar, high pitched chorus, but with a slower beat. This offers a less intense effect and emphasizes the mysterious nature of the chorus. The major difference in this scene is that the song is allowed to progress. In the beginning and the middle of the film, the music seemed stuck in a never ending loop, just as Marina was stuck in a state of sadness and loneliness. In this scene, on the other hand, the song progresses as Marina and Orlando come together in the hallway. This change through the film from repeating to progressed music helps to establish a meaning of what it takes to be a woman when society doesn t see you that way. The music, like Marina, experiences the effect of being stuck, but the ability to
  • 55. A Lesson Before Dying Analysis A Lesson Before Dying is a deceptively simple novel that explores numerous complex themes. Which also explores a prison experience. Set in the fictional community of Bayonne, Louisiana, in the late 1940s, A Lesson Before Dying tells the story of Jefferson, a twenty one year old uneducated black field worker wrongfully accused and convicted of the robbery and murder of a white man, and sentenced to death by electrocution. Gaines uses harsh language to reflect the spiritual and personal alienation of humans in the twentieth century. In a sense, this book is more about the injustice in the world thanks to racism than actually presenting a treatise on how to live life. Yet arguably, we can infer such lessons from the way in which the novel presents us with a world where obvious injustice and inhumanity exists. Clearly, the conviction and execution of Jefferson is a prime example of this injustice deriving from racism. The way that he innocently accepts a ride from two men and then is implicated in a violent struggle, in spite of his lack of understanding of what is really happening, is enough to give him the death sentence. Ernest J. Gaines who was born in Oscar Louisiana who is a writer whose fiction, as exemplified by The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman (1971), his most acclaimed work, reflects African Americanexperience and the oral tradition of his rural Louisiana childhood. The three primary characters I chose would be Tante Lou, Miss Emma, and Reverend Ambrose. I
  • 56. Effect Of The Immmersion Of Manga Effect of The Immersion of Manga A Brief Take on Comic Books Counterpart. Are you an Otaku? A growing group of people, united, fans of Anime and Manga all over the world call themselves this name, but how did this craze begin? What is Manga s appeal? Manga is a Japanese graphic novel, known most commonly to be similar to traditional Comic Books from the US. The differences lie in the art styles, genre and reading ways. Unlike the comic books featuring superheroes, Japanese Manga focuses on issues from psychological insights to school life and historical stories. Manga also has a very different feel from Comic Books due to the natural shading and black and white themes. Although Manga is now available in many bookstores all over the world, the transition from Manga being exotic to a common reading material took a long time and three major steps until it became inspiration to people outside of Japan. Feared Global Spread ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Japanese culture in the US was feared until the 1990s to build in a foreign culture deeply through Japanization . The term refers to the way that a country or area can become influenced and converted into a culture that it is not such as the Japanese culture being woven into US culture. Because cultural differences set areas apart, the Japanese language and ways may seem new or exotic. Additionally this otherness encouraged the rise of the integration and introduction of Manga. The Anime and Manga appreciating communities stood as a minority and slowly through the efforts of curiosity and encouragement of fans, the artform known as Manga arrived in America. First, publishers started to get a feel for what the common people could take
