In 1952 the ANC and Indian Congress reacted by creating the defiance campaign
which targeted six laws the two organizations thought unjust including the law
above. By the end of 1952, 8065 protesters were arrested and sent to jail. The
defiance campaign ended in 1953 and was not successful in ending Apartheid but
it did have a major effect on the ANC; 3000 members joined the ANC during these

Apartheid because he was a leader to black people as the ANC volunteer leader
and part of the first black law firm in South Africa. He also created a new method
of fighting Apartheid. Before the Massacre at Sharpeville peacefully and non
violent methods had been used to fight Apartheid but the Youth League did not
think these methods were improving anything and moving too slowly for their
liking. So violent methods were introduced to the now secret ANC organization
and a new organization was created called Umkhonto we Sizwe or MK for short.
The methods were to blow up buildings to do with the government like post offices,
pass offices and electricity pylons making sure there were no people in them.
Mandela left South Africa to recruit supports of the MK and when he came back to
South Africa he was immediately arrested and accused of sabotage which Mandela

Reflection On Aristotle s View Of God
Aristotle gives two different accounts of God in his writings Physics and
Metaphysics. Although the two accounts differ in purpose, the first giving proof that
God is the first mover, unmoved who initiates motion in the universe and the second
that God is the final cause at which all things aim. In a survey of the two doctrines, it
is evident that the two accounts are not incompatible, but rather provide a more
comprehensive and convincing argument for God.
In Physics 8.6, Aristotle gives an argument for the existence of God. He sets the
foundation of his argument on what is familiar to common experience the
observation of motion. Each movement has a cause, or source of its motion. Is this
principle of motion intrinsic to the objects moved? Is it a principle of movement
exterior to the object that is moved that is the source of movement? Aristotle
addresses these inquiries and makes the argument that God is the first and
fundamental source of motion and change.
Aristotle begins his argument for God as an unchanging first mover unmoved on a
concept established in an earlier section of the Physics: that motion is necessary and
unceasing. This unceasing movement requires an object that imparts this motion, an
object that is unmoved and unchanging. But, Aristotle notes, there are many objects
that possess within themselves a principle of self movement. However, these objects
pass in and out of existence and their movement is not necessary. The ultimate source
of movement cannot be something that comes into and passes out of existence, for
this would include it in objects subject to change that gain their principle of change
from a source exterior to themselves.
In addition, the fact that these objects change from states of activity and rest indicates
that their movement is accidental, rather than necessary and essential. Although these
things do cause movement in other things, what is potential need not be, and motion
is necessary and uninterrupted. Therefore, these objects that appear to possess self
movement cannot be the source of eternal, necessary motion, as there cannot be more

Evans also looks to distinguish the difference between a defense and a theodicy.
Evans purpose introducing these theodicies is to merely show that each has its own
place within the discussion of the problem of evil, but none of them sufficiently
answers the problem of evil. The second chapter found in The Problem of Evil,
begins to address the logical problem of evil. Within this chapter Evans breaks down
Alvin Plantinga and the free will defense. Here Evans compares the logical
arguments of J.L. Mackie and Alvin Plantinga. Mackie uses a deductive argument to
state that if God is all knowing, all powerful, and all good, then evil cannot exist.
This would be a contradiction to logic. Plantinga provides a valid argument
involving free will to make the case for the existence for evil. Evans uses the
remainder of the chapter to compare and contrast the two views. Chapter three
evaluates the evidential problem of evil. In this chapter Evans uses William Rowe s
version of the evidential problem. Using Rowe s argument as a base, Evans then
notes the various ways that prominent philosophers such as Kvanvig, Alston, and
Wykstra have questioned Rowe s argument. The author also states that anytime the
problem of evil is considered, expanded theism should be the subject. In chapter four
the author looks at the defeat of good and evil. Evans processes the mechanics of
defeat, conversion and the defeat of evil, and the disposition to act.
