Oasis Advertisement Analysis
1. Oasis Advertisement Analysis
For this advertisement analysis, I will be analysing the rear cover advertisement
for the December 2007 issue of Uncut magazine. This advertisement is for the
Oasis rockumentary ‘Lord don’t slow me down’. This is also the name of a song
by Oasis.
The Lord don’t slow me down rockumentary is a musical documentary about one
of the bands live tours, the DVD it was released on also featured the bands
sixteen newest songs.
The image for this
advertisement (Image below)
is very similar to the cover of
the DVD itself (Image to the
right) I expect that it was
modified from the DVD’s
cover. It is a mostly black
image with some grey scale
colour images on the bottom
(Four of the images are the
band members’ profiles). The
centre of the image is
dominated by a large black
box with the main information about the DVD. It features the band’s name, the
documentary’s name, the fact that the DVD is out
now, what the DVD features and how to order it.
The rest of the image is littered with slightly
smaller boxes with some information about the
DVD such as ‘Bonus audio film commentary by
the band’ and other such things. The very bottom
of the image features some very small text (Fine
print) explaining the cost of ordering the DVD
through text.
The black-and-white theme doesn’t really seem
similar to anything else done by oasis. Most of
Oasis’ album covers are in colour and are actual
photographs rather than drawings.
