2. Introduction:
Aim: Produce a promotional package for a new album.
The package will consist of:
ā A music video for a track on the album
ā A digipak sleeve for the album and an accompanying DVD
(Consist of 6 panels)
ā A magazine advertisement for the album
Song/Band Ideas:
ā¢ Nick Mulvey ā Meet Me There
ā¢ Vance Joy ā Mess is Mine
3. Idea One:
Band:
Song: Dancing Song
I believe that āDancing Songā by Little Comets
would be a good song to use as it is upbeat and
exciting. The song has a catchy beat which
would work well with a fast moving music video.
Due to the indie genre of the music, the
costumes of the band would be fairly
minimalistic and simple to suit the theme.
āLittle Comets are an English indie rock trio
from Jarrow and Washington, Tyne and Wear.
They are described as playing ākitchen sink
indieā music.ā
4. Band:
The band would be small, with only three male band
members, each would sing or play an instrument. Similar to
their music, they would have an indie look, casual and
relaxed.
5. Album: The album will be a small number of the bands latest
songs put together. Due to their recent rise in popularity, their
album will also include one or two of their original songs such
as āDancing Songā which will introduce new listeners to their
music. The album cover will be very simplistic, linking to the
indie theme. The cover will also be similar to their past album
covers by using a collage style. I want the album cover to
differ slightly from their other album covers by having it in
black and white. The font will be in the style of hand writing to
create a slightly messy relaxed feel to the album cover.
6. Album Cover: I decided to put their logo at the top
of the album cover because often
this is the thing that helps people to
recognise the band and give the
audience the ability to find it easily.
When choosing the font I decided to
stick to their traditional logo font to
link with their other album covers.
I chose to have a picture of the band
on the front because I feel that due
to this being a kind of introductory
album it needed to really draw the
audience in and make them feel
familiar with the band.
To link the album to the bands other
albums, I used a collage style by pasting
their logo a number of times. This is a
rough version of what the album cover
will look like. However with more time I
would make the three band members
into silhouettes to link to their other
album covers.
Font Ideas:
Font Name: Moon Flower
7. Digipak:
The front cover will be the first
thing that the viewer seeās as I
wanted it to really represent the
band and also draw the viewers
eye in. The album cover includes
the name of the band and a
picture of them to almost
introduce the audience to them.
The back I will have the names of the
songs in the order that they will play
on the album. I wanted the back
cover to be fairly simple, so I only
have the song names on there. This
makes it easier for the audience to
read them and find the one they are
looking for as they are not distracted
by other things on the cover.
DVDCD
The CD will include
the eight songs
written on the back
cover and will play in
the order that they
are shown.
The DVD will be included in the digipak
for the audience to watch. It will include
live acoustic performances of some of
the bands songs from old albums and
this album. There will also be a behind
the scenes of the band recording the
album which will give fans an in site into
how it was all put together.
8. Video: The video will be set in a busy city, this creates
a fast moving environment which would link to the
fast beat of the song. The video would follow a
character around the city, filming them doing different
things (adventurous things?). In the music video there
will also be the band playing on a roof top looking
over the city. This will only be shown at certain parts in
the video. In post production, there would be a slightly
faded filter placed onto the video to create a retro
effect linking to the bands indie music.
