Preface
I completed my summer training from a subsidiary of Coal India Limited.
Coal India Limited is a holding company with eight subsidiaries and two
direct link companies.
Subsidiaries are headed by CMD, Northern Coalfields Limited is one of the
subsidiary of CIL. Northern Coalfield is only subsidiary of CIL, which has
100% open mines. NCL has ten projects which are headed by CGM/GM and
their own management system. NCL is the maximum profit gaining company
of CIL
NCL performs all his social responsibilities very efficiently. The job
satisfaction level of employees is in it’s satisfactory level NCL is well aware
about their social and environmental responsibilities for performing their
environmental responsibilities, NCL created an environmental management
system.NCL got certificate of ISO 14001 : 2004.
NCL is a leading company of India and performing great role in fulfilling our
countries energy needs.

NCL is a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd. it had been based
within the year 1986, earlier it had been Subsidiary of Central Coalfields
Limited (CIL), Headquarter Located Singrauli Madhya Pradesh. NCL
producing 100% coal from opencast mines (Direct from Earth). There is steep
rise in coal demand on NCL to meet power & energy needs of the country,
47.03 MT 2004-2005 to 68.64 MT 2013-14 increase coal production day by
day increasing the key demand of coal on NCL is from power sector, which
contributes more than 95% of the total demand. The CIL production in the
year 2013-14 is projected as 462.42 million tonnes out of which NCL
contribution to CIL is 68.64 million tonnes.
NCL working 10 ventures with production capability of 74.5 MT pa, The NCL
provides coal to power sector- NPTC, UPRVUNL & Renu Power Hindalco
industries. NCL is additionally activity coal to power plants of Rajasthan state
Electricity Board & Delhi Vidyut Board. In December 2008 NCL has achieved
its companywide ISO 9001:2000 certification is also preparing to implement a
company level Integrated Management System to simultaneously comply with
ISO 9001-ISO 14001-OHSAS 18001 & SA 8000 which will cover all its
mining establishing other support units and all headquarter function. NCL
prove Coal through mechanized surface mines but its commitments towards
environmental protection economically & safety. It’s amongst solely a couple
of firms engaged in mining activities that has Integrated Management System
obliging to plan ISO 9001:2008, ISO14001:2004, OHSAS18001:2007 and SA
8000:2008 for coincidental management of economic surroundings activity
health and safety and social concern. NCL through its community development
programmes has considerably contributed towards improvement and
development of the world. It helps native social group, non social group and
project-affected persons in overall improvement of quality of their life through
self-employments, conveyance education and providing health care.

Project I had done research on NCL Consumer on based on questionnaire
additionally the report shows sale & marketing activities of Northern Coalfields
Limited, & report also contains the information related of the various projects
which is run by the NCL & also study to know about the contribution in Coal
production to the Coal India Ltd. For the sales managers this is often a difficult
job Study of sales and marketing and monitoring system of an organization.
LIMITATIONS
There are many constraints in study at the Northern Coalfield ltd. Although the
employee who working in the organization of Northern Coalfield ltd are very
cooperative and helpful easy to interact with them, they are bound by the
company rules and regulations.
 It is difficult to take complete knowledge of the sales & marketing of
Northern Coalfields ltd (NCL) or any other organization in short
period of time.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
Research in common formulation refers to a probe for data. Also we can
define Research is scientific and systematic search for pertinent
information on specific topic. NCL being a major coal producing
organization, NCL is that the main provider of coal to several power stations
directly & other manufacturing units this study is conduct to know the Coal
sale procedure of NCL.
Nature of Data:
The information obtain is Secondary Data (Means data which is available
and easy to induces for any use/purpose) the data was available within the
organization we’ve got analysis data of coal production, capacity, mode, coal
off take, coal grading, & stock of the company.
Secondary Data:
Secondary data (means- data which is available on the organization) has been
collected from reports & journals provided by HQ of NCL.

Product Line
Non-Coking Coal:
These are coals without coking properties in the main as used thermal grade
coal for power generation also for cement, fertilizer, glass, ceramic, paper,
chemical, brick producing & different heating purposes
Reject:
Rejects coal are the merchandise of coal beneficiation process once
separation of cleans/middling’s, as a fraction of feed raw coal. Used for
Fluidized Bed Combustion (FBC) Boilers for power generation, road repairs
creating land filling etc.

OUR MISSION:
The Northern Coalfield ltd. is to produce planned quantity of coal with
efficiency & economically with safety, conservation & quality.
OUR VISION:
To come up from the position of domestic leader to leading international
player within the energy sector by adopting best practices from coal mine to
market with due care to environmental and social sustenance
OUR POLICY:
FSA & Agreement NCDP circulated by MOC on 18 Oct 2007 has been
enforced on NCL in stages as per schedule/direction given from MOC/CIL
from time to time.
FSA AND AGREEMENT
The NCDP New Coal Distribution Policy circulated by MOC 18th Oct. 2007
has enforced on NCL in stages as per schedule/direction given from
MOC/CIL from time to time.
In terms of NCDP all consumers for their regular coal provide need to enter
into Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) with NCL, during this regard all valid
joined consumers of erstwhile non-core sector joined SSI unit, Captive
power plants and metallic element sector have entered into Fuel Supply
Agreement (FSA) with NCL for ensuring coal provide at sustained basis.

When our production of coal is unable to fulfil consumer needs/demands.
Government set to import coal from other country to complete demand of
coal in several sector as per requirement, Govt planned that permit all
companies/corporation who needed coal they can direct purchase it from
foreign countries however it directly affected our foreign reserve then
Government set that Import of coal is completed through Coal India Limited
(CIL). For this CIL create a policy that is known as “Coal Videsh” &
currently Coal Videsh are an organized company and every one imports of
coal and other foreign coal operation like purchasing of coal mines in foreign
territories done through Coal Videsh.
Although India is the 3rd largest coal producer of world (CIL) however
suffers scarce of coal as result of need of consumer increased day by day thus
Government of India made a policy for Import of coal and it’s done through
the assistances of MOC & CIL for purchase of coal mines in other nations
and CIL has purchased coal mines in foreign country African Nation
(Mozambique) & making negotiation with Indonesia for purchasing coal
mines for guaranteeing proper supply of coal in country.
At present we are Importing coal from different country/nations:-

Sq. Km in Northern Coalfields Ltd.
At present NCL produces solely power grade coal through 10 nos.

Coal Production:
Mining history throughout this region is previous. The first systematic
mining but was started in Jhingurdha throughout early sixties. The program
of the coalfields was ready by P & D Division in consultation with Soviet
knowledgeable. This envisaged construction of enormous mechanised
opencast mines. The activities square measure occurring as per the
programme provision.
During 2012-2013 coal production was 70.21 MT in 2013-2014 the target
for coal production was at 72.40 MT NCL has achieved 68.81% in 2013-
2014. It’s planned to urge eliminate 265 MT Ejaculate of overburden
throughout 2013-14, out of that 109 Mill. Liquid body substances are
removed departmentally and rest 156 Mill. Ejaculate are removed by Hiring
of Equipment (HOE) agencies.

Coal Handling Plants
NCL has installed big refined coal handling plants (CHPs) for provide of
proper sized coal to all its 10 projects. The CHPs have high capability of
loading system & processed weighing arrangements. At present concern 95%
coal production is distributed through CHPs and 100% is weighed through
processed advisement arrangements

increased from 47.03 MT 2004-2005 to 68.64 MT 2013-14
As we have tendency to see in graph it shows within the year 2011-12 72.00

Conclusion
After I get trained in one of the most leading coal company of India (NCL), I
saw a harmonious working environment there are wonderful Quality
Managers, Engineers and chemists are working which enable NCL to earn
large profit. All the staff area unit well skilful the profit of NCL in 2013-14
was 9303.88 Cr. and NCL provides a decent healthy wages and salaries to
their employees, & other facilities like Resident, Recreation, Medical
facilities, Education, good roads, Proper water supply, Electricity, L.P.G and
other lots of facilities.
NCL had won range of safety awards, at NCL there’s quality management
system in existence and NCL has certificated ISO: 14001 for environmental
management. The ratio of trees in NCL is simply too high approx 1180 trees
per person.
I want to thanks all the chief of Sales and Marketing department for
providing me a wonderful training & opportunity to interact with CGM,
GM, and Manager in several branch of NCL.

NCL producing 100% coal from opencast mines (Direct from Earth). There is steep rise in coal demand on NCL to meet power & energy needs of the country, 47.03 MT 2004-2005 to 68.64 MT 2013-14 increase coal production day by day increasing the key demand of coal on NCL is from power sector, which contributes more than 95% of the total demand. The CIL production in the year 2013-14 is projected as 462.42 million tonnes out of which NCL contribution to CIL is 68.64 million tonnes. NCL working 10 ventures with production capability of 74.5 MT pa, The NCL provides coal to power sector- NPTC, UPRVUNL & Renu Power Hindalco industries. NCL is additionally activity coal to power plants of Rajasthan state Electricity Board & Delhi Vidyut Board. In December 2008 NCL has achieved its companywide ISO 9001:2000 certification is also preparing to implement a company level Integrated Management System to simultaneously comply with ISO 9001-ISO 14001-OHSAS 18001 & SA 8000 which will cover all its mining establishing other support units and all headquarter function. For this CIL create a policy that is known as “Coal Videsh” & currently Coal Videsh are an organized company and every one imports of coal and other foreign coal operation like purchasing of coal mines in foreign territories done through Coal Videsh. All the staff area unit well skilful the profit of NCL in 2013-14 was 9303.88 Cr. and NCL provides a decent healthy wages and salaries to their employees, & other facilities like Resident, Recreation, Medical facilities, Education, good roads, Proper water supply, Electricity, L.P.G and other lots of facilities.
