2. What are the most common trends
in results?
Question 5 asked the audience if they would prefer live action or
animation. The common trend for this result is live action, as teenagers
would prefer this over animation. Only 2 people picked animation over
live action.
The common trend in the results for question 7 ‘What gender would you
like to dominate the movie?’ is male. This is because teenage girls would
prefer to see a strong, good looking male as the lead, and teenage boys
believe there gender dominate the world; because of this the most
common trend in results is to see a male be the lead of the movie.
3. From your results what is important
to your audience?
From my results I see it is important that I have a male as the main
character, in addition to this I see it is important for my extract to include
mostly stereotypical characters. This may be the reason why my audience
want a male as the domineering character; because a stereotypical male is
in charge, strong, brave and has all the qualities teenage girls especially
like.
Steven Spielberg is the most common name that came up for question 4.
From this I see this it is important I include techniques and genres Steven
includes in his film, and make sure it will appeal to my audience.
4. What should you include in your
film?
From my results I understand to appeal to my audience I should use both
character and narrative in the opening and have a male as the main
character. These results link to question 11’s results, with my audience
wanting stereotypical characters included. I also understand I shouldn’t
include any aspects of the science fiction genre in my film, as no one chose
that to be there favourite genre.
I also understand the favourite genre my audience would like to hear Indie
music in my film, and the least favourite is classical; so for my extract I will
keep any classical music out, and include Indie type music.
5. Are there any surprises in your
results?
I found question 3 to be a surprising result. This question was ‘what is your
favourite genre?’ Out of the 7 options; sci–fi, romance, family, thriller, comedy,
rom com, and other option; the overall winner was ‘other option’. This was
surprising for me, as I thought there were a range of options available to pick.
The fact that the audience chose other option means I will have to re think my
idea.
I also found Question 11 to be a surprising result. The question was ‘Would
you prefer to see stereotypical character or countertypical characters?’
There was a option to choose both which was the most popular answer. I
found this surprising as I thought teens especially may find stereotypical
character somewhat disrespectful and to common.
6. How will these surprises change any
ideas you may have had?
These surprising results will change my ideas. I will research other genres to
see what it is that will entertain my audience. But I will also include the ‘rom
com’ genre as this was the second most highest vote. From this result I can
also see only one person’s favourite genre is romance. I wont include
romance as much as I wanted to, as this wont please my audience on a wider
scale.
Question 11 will also have an impact on how I change my idea, as I will no
longer make the countertypical character my domineering character. I will
include much more stereotypical characters, as this is what will entertain my
audience.
