1. Survey Monkey Results
Through the use of Survey Monkey, I
created a 6 question questionnaire in
order to help me discover information
about my target audience. The
questions were simple, but helped me
discover what different people like
within a horror film.
There was also an option to write in
there own words both what they liked
and disliked about horror films.
I thought creating a survey was a
helpful way to get the opinions from a
mixed age and gender group, as it will
really show me what different people
like and dislike.
2. Question 1 Analysis
Question 1 was just a
straight forward simple
question just asking
the audience if
generally they like
horror movies.
The table to the left shows a clear
winning answer which is in fact “Yes”.
This is positive for me as I can now
see the majority of this small group I
have asked in fact like horror movies.
3. Question 2 Analysis
Question 2 was asking
about the location that
would be expected in a
horror movie.
The most popular answer is in a dark
abandoned house, with in the woods
being in second place. This is
beneficial to know as when I go to
make my own horror movie, I can
base it on the most popular answer,
which in this case is in a dark
abandoned house.
4. Question 3 Analysis
This question is asking
about the types of
characters expected to
be seen in a horror
film. The answer with
the most votes is the
“mixture” this including
adults, children, teens
and older people.
This helps me when creating my own
horror movie when I am choosing the
casting I know I need to have a range of
different ages in my film.
5. Question 4 Analysis
Question 4 is
asking about the
favourite horror
from a short list
given. The
favourite is in
fact The
Conjuring.
This helps me as I can get ideas from The
Conjuring and why its so popular when
creating my own horror movie.
7. Question 5 Analysis
Question 5 is a more
of an in-depth one.
It is the personal
opinion of the group.
The question is
asking to explain
what it is they like
about horror films.
All of the responses talk
about they like the fact that
“they don’t know what will
happen next” and the
“tension”. I think having this
information is important as
when you come to create
your own horror then you
know it needs to have
people on the edge of their
seats!
9. Question 6 Analysis
Question 6 is the same as
question 5 however asking
what they do not like about
horror films. A very popular
answer was “give you
nightmares” I think this is
important when making a
horror movie, and aiming it at
the right people, as the
younger audience are going
to be a bit more frightened,
this helps when you are
trying to discover your target
audience.
