3. 17
My collection of nightmares,
thoughts, and real life situations
I've lived
17 is the number tattooed on the
right side of my head
My own personal number
Soon to be explained in future
interviews or instances
By listening to this album, you are
literally, and I cannot stress this
enough, literally entering my mind
And if you are not willing to accept my
emotion and hear my words fully, do not
listen
I do not value your money
I value your acceptance and loyalty
Here is my pain and thoughts put into
words
I put my all into this, in the hopes that it
will help cure or at least numb your
depression
I love you
Thank you for listening
Enjoy
4. This speech is where the artist explains his vision, meaning and
thoughts of what has gone into the songs featured on this project.
To reflect this in the visuals of the song, contrasting cinematic
shots will be used to show the contrast in the artist's experiences
in life, and how the different situations have played out for him.
The Explanation is what makes this album stand out to others. It
adds incite into the mind of the artist and what he wants from it.
Success is a variable; to this artist success is getting people help
out of their situations.
6. The intro of the song is the artist talking to himself
but also to the audience. This is the beginning of how
the
During this phase, a similar style to “The
Explanation” will be used. The an actor will be
introduced into the video with a medium-close up,
whilst cinematic shots break it up so that it doesn’t
become stale.
[Intro]
I think I, I think I finally
Found a way to forgive myself
From mistakes I made in my past
I think that's the first step, right?
You agree?
7. “Revenge” consists of an intro, outro and one verse.
Due to the limited amount of lyrics, it is difficult to
get a wide variety of different shots and techniques in
the production.
Additionally, the video will be shot to have a vintage
look - which will be achieved through filters and
other editing techniques in post-production.
This section is about the artists experiences, mainly a
failed relationship. To represent this in the video the
more cinematic/artistic visual shots will be used. For
example, longshots, long takes etc
[Verse 1:1]
I've dug two graves for us, my
dear
Can't pretend that I was perfect,
leavin' you in fear
Oh man, what a world, the things I
hear
If I could act on my revenge, then,
oh, would I?
8. This part of the song is more generalising the
experience of finding love, focusing on how hard it
can be and the different types of partner and breakups
you experience.
Therefore at this section the focus of the video will
be on the character giving something for listeners to
relate and reflect their emotions into. Shots used will
be medium close ups, low angle, and tracking.
[Verse 1:2]
Some kill, some steal, some break
your heart
And you thought that I would let it
go and let you walk
Broken hearts, break bones, so
break up fast
And I don't wanna let it go, so in
my grave I'll rot
9. The verse is not entirely complex, and is just a
repetition of the first half. However this is used as an
emphasis on the artists feelings, it’s like he’s
repeating himself in an argument or a moment of
helplessness.
To reflect this quick flashback shots will be used to
show the character’s past and what’s led him to his
current situation in life. This would add depth to the
video and a snapshot into the emotion of the lyrics.
[Verse 1:3]
I've dug two graves for us, my
dear
Can't pretend that I was perfect,
leavin' you in fear
Oh man, what a world, the things I
hear
If I could act on my revenge, then,
oh, would I?
10. At this section, the secondary narrative of the song
comes in. The lyrics reflect the end of some kind of
relationship, either friendship or romantic.
To reflect this, symbolic references will be used - for
example a burning picture, cross cuts and other
techniques to portray the theme of loss and what it
can cause.
[Verse 1:4]
Some kill, some steal, some break
your heart
And you thought that I would let it
go and let you walk
Broken hearts, break bones, so
break up fast
And I don't wanna let it go, so in
my grave I'll rot
11. The outro is mostly a repetition of “In my grave, I’ll
rot”, with two rhetorical questions.
For the outro, it’s important to bring a conclusion to
the narrative, a new equilibrium. Therefore the
narrative will be closed in a fast paced sequence of
shots which will be slowed to two medium-long shots
of the character at the rhetorical questions.
[Outro]
In my grave, I'll rot
In my grave, I'll rot
In my grave, I'll rot
In my grave, I'll rot
In my grave, I'll rot
In my grave, I'll rot
In my grave, I'll rot
I'll rot, I'll rot, I'll rot
Is my pain your freedom?
Is all of my pain your freedom?
Enjoy…
12. The last word of the song is enjoy - something
typically said at the start of the show, not the end as it
is in this instance.
To reflect this instead of cutting or fading to black, it
will fade to white - as if to say this is the start of
something new. It also has connotations of heaven a
similar aspect to the end of Fast and Furious 7 “For
Paul” scene before the credits roll.
[Outro]
Enjoy…
13. The actor is not the artist for the reason that the artist wants to
highlight the album may be about his life and experiences, but
they can relate to a much wider audience. The album was made to
help people when they’re at some of the lowest points in their life.
Therefore with different people in a video, it sends the message
that they are not alone in their situation; there is always a
someone they can turn to.
The overall visual style will look like a combination of “Prblms”
by 6LACK, and “Don’t” by Bryson Tiller. With filters and the
night-time setting to create the indie-rock/lo-fi feel of the song.
There will be little narrative in the video and a focus on the
character, as the song is about the people listening to the music,
not the artist’s life and subsequent representations.
