Mise en scene
1. MISE EN SCENE
LOCATIONS, PROPS AND COSTUME THAT WILL HELP US DEFINE OUR IDEA
AND HELP APPEAL TO OUR TARGET AUDIENCE.
2. LOCATIONS
1) Forest with bench – A darker forest, used either for establishing shots, more
cinematic shots and for our character to traverse. This location will give our
production connotations of isolation. Hopefully this scene will give the
audience insight into our characters without us having to resort to usage of
text. The bench will also be used for our main character to sit upon. And will a
have contrasting effect on the character as a park bench is normally associated
with families vising the park. Although here it will reinforce how lonely our
character is. As in surrounding shots we will show the extent of the characters
isolation.
3. LOCATIONS
• Graveyard – Although we have some hesitation in filming in a graveyard since we
feel it may disrespectful. If we do this the reason why is that the location has
overhanging themes of loss and death. This will help the audience understand the
situation that the character is in and hopefully allow them to relate to the
character and understand some of the emotions we are trying to portray,.
4. LOCATIONS
• Home – The characters home, although meant to be a safe place we will design
the house to be as intimidating and uncomfortable as possible. It will help the
audience see the pain that the character is in and hopefully form some
connection with the character.
• This place will be filled with belongings that relate back to the hurt past of the
character, may include photographs of deceased relatives and such. This setting
will be more relevant to the audience and draw them in further. We will rely on
this setting to reinforce the loneliness of the character.
5. CLOTHING
The clothes of the characters will be specifically chosen to have connotations that
create specific meaning within the characters. Our main character will be wearing
blue as this represents sorrow. Our artist will be wearing white for purity and to
draw a line between the artist and actor. Doing this will allow us to present that the
Singer is actually telling the story of the main character.
Also we will make sure to dress our actors in stereotypical teen outfits as we think
that this will appeal to our target audience and allow them to relate further to the
characters and become invested.
6. LIGHTING
• Lighting will be key in our production and will serve as a metaphor for the
situations of the characters and will serve to foreshadow some events. Examples
of this include the main character looking into the darkness and our singer being
filmed in warmer lighting.
• Dull filters and low key lighting will be used in most situations as it sets the tone
throughout the video and gives an insight into the characters mind and how they
see the world.
