Ancillary task – Audience survey Blanc
1. Ancillary Task – Audience Survey
This was to help decide our final draft changes and get an idea for the
design after two drafts being made.
2. This question was used as our current two drafts had two main different colour schemes, pink and black. Our
original was Black/Grey and the second was Pink/White. We were undecided and to produce our final drafts for the
digipak we figured it would be a good move to consider our targeted audience and their opinion on what their ideal
digipak would look like.
In this case, the main colour scheme that was voted for was Black/Grey. This influenced the rest of our produced
work for the Ancillary task along with the poster with the mandate of our audience on this choice.
3. The result of this audience survey was a deciding factor on the design of our digipak and how it appealed to
our audience. As the main two options were to have a black line and use filters to distort the album art to
create a form of iconography for our Ancillary task, we decided to use both of these on our work.
The result was a massive improvement, that is shown in the blog post which highlights the progress between
the drafts overtime. It increased the boldness and worked with the colour scheme given to us by the previous
question.
4. The album name was originally supposed to be ‘Blood on Me’, but after producing the first draft it
didn’t seem to be the right kind of name for our aimed genre and song. This meant that we
needed a new name in which we can use our audience to decide the most suitable name as they
are the audience we are aiming to appeal too.
This led to the decision of changing the album name to the ‘The Explanation’. This name is more
bold and assertive, which will help catch our audiences attention. In addition to this it is also the
first song name of the artists album we have taken after – this gives more reasoning and meaning
to the name of the album as they both link.
