 Neurodegeneration - is the term for the progressive





loss of structure or function of neurons. Such as :
Parkinson’s
Alzheimer’s
Huntington’s
Multiple Sclerosis
Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis.

3. Parkinsonism
•Degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in
the substantia nigra.
•Manifestations : Resting tremor, rigidity
and bradykinesia.

4. Huntington’s Disease
 Neurodegenerative genetic disorder that affects
muscle coordination and leads to cognitive decline.
 It typically becomes noticeable in mid-adult life. HD is
the most common genetic cause of abnormal
involuntary writhing movements
called Huntington's chorea.

5. Alzheimer’s Disease
• Destruction of cholinergic neurons in the cortex
and limbic system.
 Manifestations : loss of memory, thinking and
language skills, and behavioral changes.
