Dhumpana or inhalation therapy is described as a treatment for Tamaka shwasa or asthma. The disease is caused by vitiation of vata and kapha doshas affecting the respiratory tract. Dhumpana helps clear the channels and ease breathing by using the smoke of medicinal herbs with usna and vata-kapha reducing properties. It is administered according to specific guidelines while the patient inhales and exhales the smoke. Dhumpana provides relief from symptoms, cleanses the respiratory passages, and helps remove doshas from the body.

episode of the Tamaka shwasa.
 Dhumpana administer after administering vaman therapy

comfortable chair.
 With full of concentration on the treatment the patient which is
about to take.
 The patient is given the ‘Dhuma varti’ which ignited at the distal
end.

22. Conclusion
 Dhumpana is scientific, rational& logical approach in the drug
delivery system specially in respiratory system.
 By Dhumpana the drug reaches the desired site of action

 In Dhumpana volatile oils when administered orally or inhaled
with steam increase the respiratory secretion probably by direct
stimulation.
