Topic:- Technical terms of Building
A change in usage of building or a
structural change, such as an
addition to the area or height, or
the removal of a part of a building,
or any change to the structure,
such as construction of, cutting into
or removal of any wall, partition,
column, beam, floor joist or other
support or a change to or closing of
any required means of ingress or
egress or a change to the fixtures
or equipment.

A horizontal cantilevered
projection including a
hand rail or balustrade to
serve as passage or sitting
out place.
2. Balcony
Habitable room/ rooms on the
roof of building with or without
toilets/ kitchen.
3. Barsati
The lower storey of a
building below or
partly below ground

measured above the average

the roof. Building height can be
measured:-
In case of Flat roofs

The line upto which the
plinth of a building
adjoining a street or
extension of a street or on
a future street may
lawfully extend.
6.Building Line
A room constructed with non
load bearing partition/
partitions with adequate
provision of light and
ventilation.
7.Cabin
A sloping or horizontal
structural overhang
usually provided over
openings on external
walls for protection from
sun and rain.

An outer wall of a building not

26. Habitable room
A structure with
covering of roof over a
staircase and its landing
, built to enclose only
the stairs for the
purpose of providing
protection from
weather.

An intermediary floor
space created by the
introduction of a slab
between floor and ceiling
of a room , passage or
wherever it is provided
with maximum clear
height of 15 meter for
storage purpose only.

43. Travel distance

Any means or access i.e.
highway road, street, lane,
pathway etc. over which
public have a right to
passage.
