Naturalism is a philosophical doctrine. It is opposed to idealism in its interpretation of reality.
Naturalism is concerned with “natural self” or “real self”. It contends that the ultimate reality is matter, and not mind or spirit.
Naturalism does not believe in spiritualism. It denies the existence of a spiritual universe — the universe of ideas and values.

According to Erikson’s Psychosocial Development Theory, the concepts of generativity versus stagnation stage occurs by the time when we reach our mid-30s to mid-50s. From here, we start to really examine our lives and see if it is going the way we planned it or did it take a drastic turn. This is where some people take drastic steps and change their lives. It is when we start to question, "How can I contribute to the world?" Finding ways to advance or enhance future generations can help you work toward generativity instead of having a sense of stagnation. The basic virtue of generativity vs. stagnation is "care." This involves caring for others who are close to the person (family, co-workers, friends, etc.) as well as caring for the community or the future generation as a whole. If generativity is not developed, rejectivity, or a lack of meaning in one's life and in one's actions, can occur.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Geneven philosopher , writer ,and composer ,leader of the naturalistic
movement ,French revolution ,development of modern political and

6. Principles of naturalsm
Unchanging loss of nature explains all the events and
occurrences of the world.
Education in accordance with the nature of the
child.
Man is the highest creature or animal according to the
nature . So the essence of the life is animal instinct and
does not spirituality
Stress on physical environment .
7. Cont………..
Universe is a huge machine . Man is also a part of
this machine.
Reality can be truly analyzed by natural science.
The present is the real life, man should try to
make this life happy and comfortable.
8. Some Basic Principles of Naturalism:
1. Nature is the final reality. All things originated from matter, all are
ultimately to be reduced to matter. Matter takes different forms.
2. Mind is the brain functioning and brain is matter.
3. All types of mental activities – imagination, thinking, reasoning etc. are the
functions of the brain.
4. The entire universe is governed by the laws of nature which are
unchangeable Science reveals the mysteries of nature; hence only that
knowledge is true that is derived from science.
5. There is no God or Spirit. Therefore, there is no religion. There are no
higher or eternal values. There is no spiritual goal or ideal of human life.
Man himself creates values in interaction with the environment in which he
is placed.
9. Aims and objectives
Self expression: Self expression ,not self realization is an important aim of
naturalistic education.
Self-preservation: Education should help the child in self preservation . It
includes self health along with healthy environment.
Fullest development: Naturalism believes that the chief aim of education is the
fulest development of the child.
Survival of the individual : Naturalism believes that the fittest alone should
survive . Education must equip the child to struggle to exist.
10. Curriculum …….
No rigid curriculum.
It believes in science subjects.
Study of past experience.
Should contain games , sports, physical culture, bilogy , nature study,
language etc.
Moral education .
No place for traditional subject.
Drawing.
11. Method of teaching
It is a results against the old, traditional, bookish system of education –
direct experience with the nature.
child teaching methods are supported.
Learning takes place by doing.
Teaching methods are chosen according to age and intelligence of students.
Education through senses.
Play way method
Education according to the nature of the child.
12. Role of teacher
An observer
Able to understand nature of the child
Stage setter
13. MERITS OF NATURALISM
It gives the child a very
important place in the
educational process. It treats a
child as child and not as an
adult . the child is good and
pure at the terms of birth.
It considers nature as the
best teacher in whose
company the child learns
better .
It consider individual
interests, aptitude,
inclination, needs and
capacities while structuring
the curriculum.
It prepares and encourages
the child to engage in
experimentation,
discoveries and inventions
It motivates the child to
acquire more knowledge in
the natural movement.
14. Demerits of naturalism
Nature centered
study makes the
child become
unsocial with no
feeling of social
service
Naturalism
ignores the
spiritual world
and considers
the material
world only
Naturalism lays
stress on solutions
for only the
present needs and
problems of an
individual and
neglects his future
needs and
problems. It has
failed to prepare
the child for the
future life.
Naturalism
advocates
unrestricted
freedom for the
child to develop
himself naturally.
This is
undesirable and
harmful to the
child.
It minimizes the
role of the teacher
in the educative
process. A teacher
is an observer, a
sympathetic guide
and helper in
structuring
experiences for
the child
15. Relevance of naturalism
Shifting of subject centered curriculum to an experience centered curriculum.
Modern life need various experience to be given to the child through co-curricular activities . So that
he would be educated and trained to face life squarely and solve all its problems successfully.
The child used to be punished severely and kept under the control of the teacher . This strict discipline
was discarded because of the influence of naturalism. As a result , now the child enjoys full freedom
to learn and do whatever he likes. Thus freedom for the child is the chief contribution of naturalism to
modern education.
New types of educational institutions have come up in recent years .
Institutions like the summer school of AS Neli,Viswabharathi, of Rabindra Nath Tagore Kinder
garden school of Froebel, Montessori schools have come into existence as result of the influence of
naturalism in education.
