The Evolution Of Polar Bears
Only from the literal definition, the evolution is a process which something passes
by degrees to a different stage, especially a more advanced or mature stage. For
instance, in the ancient time, it is because the dinosaurs had already deracinated so
that other animals who survived evolve in order to comfort to the times. Among these
animals, apes are a typical example of evolutionas they gradually develop to become
todays human. Nonetheless, at present, it seems that it is not exceedingly easy to feel
the existence of the phenomena of evolution. Actually, it exists in many places, such
as Arctic Polar, Alaska, and Canada etc. In Canada and Alaska, numerous grolars
were founded, which are the descendants of polar bearand grizzly bears, and this new
specie is the result of a type of biology evolution.... Show more content on

Obviously, no. According to scientist analysis, although male polar bears do not
generally creep into grizzly habitats , grizzly males roam to establish territory and
come in contact with receptive female polar bears. Meanwhile, because of the global
warming, the ice melts constantly. Therefore, the amount of pizziles and grizzlies
increase, and the number of pure polar bears declines. It means that polar bears are
getting the short end of the stick in this relationship, and like Geoff York said, not
gaining any genetic diversity. Furthermore, except the melting of the ice, global
warming also boosts the range of activity of grizzly bears for crossbreeding with polar

However, the economy seems to be recovering faster than economists had originally
predicted. With GDP and consumer spending up year over year, we feel that the
worst is behind us and growth will continue globally through 2012. As unemployment
starts to fall and credit starts to loosen up, we feel consumers will continue to
increase their spending.
Although this may sound good for the brewing industry, this may not be so. In 2008,
when the recession was at its peak, beer sales increased more than wine sales for the
first time in nearly a decade. We can compare this event to Wal Mart, who benefits
during recessionary periods due to their cheap prices. But as the economy recovers
and consumer spending increases, the upward trend in wine sales is likely to
continue, putting pressure on breweries to increase sales by decreasing prices. This
price war is harmful to the industry, and has a negative effect on profit margin.
Industry Analysis amp; Forecasts
When an industry has been around as long as the beer brewing industry has, it is no
secret that it has reached a pinnacle. At the same time, it shows no signs of decline,

Lehane s Use Of Symbolism To Establish A Broken Family
Birds usually build nests in order to maintain a family and welcome their new born
birds. They both cooperate by scaring predators, searching for food and feeding the
littles to bring a safe environment. This routine is made in order for the baby birds
to eventually fly by themselves. This is also reflected in humans but a higher level
of complexity. Although parents normally make sure to build a relationship with
trust to pass it on to their children. Unfortunately there are many couples and
families that live with a lack of trust and it is reflected into their lives. Trust is one
of the most important factors and a family who doesn t have that can be described
as a broken family. These cases of broken families are reflected in Dennis Lehane s...

Jimmy Marcus had a violent passed where he wouldn t respect the laws and rules
in society. Now he is much more considered as a stable man and father, however
there are still aftereffects from his childhood reflected in some of his actions and
decisions. His daughter Katie Marcus, is secretly dating one of the kindest boys in
her neighbourhood. She and Brendan Harris have to keep their relationship as a
secret because of her violent ex boyfriend and her father. Jimmy warned her about
dating Brendan: Stay away from the Harisses; you ever bring one home, I disown
you (Lehane, p.77). This statement shows a clear sense of irony since Brendan is
the boy who everyone considers as kind and respectful. Jimmy prefers to see his
daughter with the most respected but violent man in the neighbourhood than
Brendan. This ironic situation causes Katie to secretly date this kind boy and lie to
her father to ensure he doesn t disown her. This has tremendous repercussions on this
family since they cannot trust each other due to Jimmy s restrictions on Katie. It
becomes a broken family since the father is not letting his daughter follow her heart
and desires. This brings consequences such as Katie lying to him and making sure he
won t discover her secret. The author points out this ironic situation to demonstrate
the lack of trust between them and how this affects the family. Katie will

A Report On The Plane Detectors
The airplane was equipped with a smoke and fire detection and warning system to
provide flight crews with a visual indication in the cockpit of smoke or fire in the
cargo compartments. The airplane had a total of 26 smoke detectors. The main cargo
compartment had 7 smoke detectors installed, and in the 4 lower cargo compartments
were 19 smokedetectorsinstalled. During the preflight checks the flight crew tested
the operation of the smoke detectors by enabling their test function from the cockpit.
The flight engineer reported that no problems were encountered during the functional
check of the smoke detectors before the flight. The main cargo compartment smoke
detectorsystem consists of detectors located in the compartment ceiling that were
designed to provide a smoke indication whenever the smoke around a detector
reached a certain density. Five of the seven smoke detectors were mounted on the
left side of the ceiling at locations corresponding to cargo containers 2, 5, 8, 11/12,
and 14. The other two detectors were mounted next to each other near the ceiling
centerline at locations corresponding to cargo containers 17 and 18. The smoke
detector switch, which is located on the flight engineer s upper panel, provides a
means for testing the smoke detectors and the system wiring. The smoke detector
switch has the following labeled positions: OFF, NOR [normal], and 1 through 7.
However, the system is not able to identify the specific sensor(s) detecting smoke in
Literary Criticism Of Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
Literary Criticism of Ethan Frome
The novel Ethan Frome written by Edith Wharton is a classic novel of the early
1900 s. Wharton created a novel that is only fully comprehended in the cold winter
months with snow swirling outside your home as you read with a cup of hot tea to
warm you. It is an icy writing, with many different thoughts to extract from it. A main
theme in this novel is society and morality are obstacles to the fulfillment of
desire(SparkNotes: Ethan Frome Themes.) I agree with this yet I argue the main
theme is that your circumstances determine your contentment. Through the stifling
force of winter, Ethan s alternating moods based mainly off of Mattie, and Zeena s
disappearing illnesses, it will be proven that their circumstances determined their
contentment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winter was a hardening season, and toughened anyone who lived there. An elderly

his true lover Mattie always just out of his reach, not enough money to live a
comfortable life, and the crash in which him and Mattie were forever torn apart;

the end. All of these things occurred and yet Ethan Frome pushes on, at war with his

The Realm Of Military Power And International Security
Essay
Socialization in the realm of military power and international security The fact that
states are socialized through endogenous and exogenous variables is impossible to
deny. This socialization, Finnemore argues, leads states to accept new norms,
values and perceptions of interest. These shifts are frequently felt on a global scale
as perceptions of interest alter state relationships and vice versa. Military interests
are merely a reflection of states interests; therefore, these newly adopted norms and
values inevitably seep into the realm of military power and international security.
However, military values prioritize the security of the state first and foremost,
therefore, certain norms and values are either accepted later than the rest of a state
s society, or simply never accepted. An example of this would be women not being
allowed to hold front line infantry positions or certain high level special operations
roles in the military. Women not being able to hold certain positions in part due to
a fear that they will interfere with group cohesion , does not accurately reflect the
social norms and values we value so highly as a country; such as gender equality.
International security is also heavily affected by adoptions of new values and norms
seeing as states interact with other states, based on their perceptions of them. These
perceptions are in turn shaped by the shared norms and values of that state s society
and how their interests are perceived. Norms are social
Patient Care For A Patient
Pediatric patients in hospital settings are unquestionably in a defenseless position and
are highly reliant on nurses to provide for their individual needs. In the poem above,
not only was the pediatric patient s needs met, but also the nurse showed caring
qualities that made the patient feel comforted. As a pediatric nurse, caring is a quality
that is imperative to include along with nursing interventions to provide holistic care
for a patient. Caring holds significant value to us professionally. We believe caring is
an essential characteristic in nursing. Without this characteristic, one will not be able
to care for a patient effectively. Patients we work with deal with many different

By researching more about the caring theory, it may change some nurses perception
about implementing caring more within their nursing practice. Researching more
about caring and how to implement it can be essential when dealing with a difficult
patient or family member. A concept analysis is used to evaluate the development of
nursing concept by identifying gaps in nursing knowledge, determining the need to
refine or clarify a concept when it appears to have multiple meanings, evaluating the
adequacy of competing concepts in their relation to other phenomena, examining the
congruence between the definition of the concept and the way it has been
operationalized, and determining the fit between the definition of the concept and its
clinical application. Caring has been investigated, researched and studied in various
methods, this concept analysis paper will clarify vague or ambiguous concepts and
identify and classify the caring theory. Applying the caring theory to pediatric nursing
can help improve patient outcomes in several areas. One goal using the caring theory
is to apply the caring theory along with medical oriented nursing in the hospital to
help increase compliance among transplant pediatric patients on immunosuppressant
therapy. Second goal is to incorporate the caring theory when taking care of suicidal
pediatric patients to help decrease the number of readmissions for suicidal attempts.

The War Of Roses
Nowadays, people believe that roses are a symbol of love and beauty. However,
other than their romantic aspect, roses were also the symbol of war and politics
during the history.
Based on fossil evidence, roses were first appeared 35 million years ago. However,
only about 5,000 years ago that garden cultivation of roses has seemingly begun in
China. Moreover, between 100 150 species of wild Genus Rosa (Rose) keep

medicines and perfume as well as for decorative confetti at celebrations. Moreover,
in the south of Rome, roman nobility has funded public rose gardens at large scales.

Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory Study
Another theory that is relevant to the study is Albert Bandura s (1977) Social
Learning Theory. Unlike the experiential learning theory which is more focused on
how the environment affects the behavior of the individual, the social learning
theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with others in a social
context. Moreover, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to copy and
develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learningare being formulated as
new trends in distance education programs continue to emerge. The rise in popularity
of these programs continues to increase the physical distance between educators and
students (Smith Berge, 2009). There are three key components to Bandura s social
learning theory(Abbott, n.d.) that are manifesting themselves in the Second Life (a...

After observing the behavior of others, people then assimilate and imitate that
behavior, especially if their observational experiences are positive ones or include
rewards related to the observed behavior. According to Bandura (Smith Berge,
2009), this kind of imitation involves the actual reproduction of observed motor
activities. This kind of learning through observing can also be reinforced. Bandura
called this as vicarious reinforcement. What he meant is that when the child
observes someone else being rewarded for a particular behavior this then affects
the child in the same way as it would had that the child produced the same behavior
and been rewarded for it. Similarly, vicarious punishment is possible where the child
observes a model being punished for a behavior thus the child is less likely to
produce the behavior because of this observation. This kind of reinforcement creates a

Summary Of John Tudor s The Boston Massacre
Tudor, John. The Boston Massacre. March 5, 1770. The diary entry by John Tudor
stated that there had been a brutal massacre on King Street in front of the
Customhouse by approximately eight soldiers. This murder took place under the
command of Captain Thomas Preston. The massacre started by a group of young
men that were having a snowball fight, but quickly drew the attention of many,
ending in Captain Thomas Preston commanding his soldiers to shoot. The diary
stated that Lieutenant Governor Hutchinson was going to do everything he could
do to get justice for those killed. Justice Dana and Tudor gave a warrant for Captain
Preston to High Sheriff, which ended with the arrest of Captain Preston and the
arrest of the eight soldiers. It was no longer safe for the troops to be in the town
because everyone hates them, so Lieutenant Governor called for the immediate
removal of the troops from the town to Castle William. The textbook and the diary
entry are both similar on how the massacre began, but the textbook states that the
soldiers came to assist White, ending in the soldier being surrounded by the crowd
and one of the soldiers being knocked down. The soldier that was knocked down, got
up and fired his musket according to the textbook, but the diary entry stated that
Captain Preston commanded the soldiers to fire. The textbook does not state anything
about the soldiers being immediately removed, but states that the redcoats left for
Canada.

Junk DNA
Hengye Chen 813198898
Background:
When scientists sequenced genome at early period, they found that only a small part
of genomic DNA sequence can code proteins. Major DNA sequence did not have
function. Then they named those DNA sequences that could not code for proteins as
Junk DNA . However, after researching for decades, many sequences thought were
useless in that time now have identified functions, such as many regulatory elements,
DNA sequences coded for noncoding RNA, origins of DNA replication and so on.
Thus, the definition of Junk DNA also need to be change during these discoveries. In
my mind, now Junk DNA is a term used to represent those noncoding DNA sequences

Telomeres are terminal sequences of genomic DNA. They are important for the
stability of chromosomes. Centromeres are sequences located in centers of
chromosomes. They are important for chromosome stability and cell division.
Transposons are DNA sequences that can translocate from one site of a
chromosome to another site of a chromosome. Most of them are silenced in normal
mammal cells .There are two classes of transposons. Class I is retrotransposon and
Class II is DNA transposon. There are three types of retrotransposons in Class I and
one in Class II. So normally, transposable elements can be categorized in four types.
In addition, transposons can be classed into two type, autonomous and non
autonomous, with a different method (Figure 1) [1].
Retrotransposon is a major component of Junk DNA . It can copy itself and it
contains long terminal repeat (LTR) transposons (retrovirus like), long interspersed
nuclear elements (LINEs) and short interspersed nuclear elements (SINEs) which
occupy a huge part of the genome [1].
LTR transposons are transposons flanked by long terminal repeats. This character is
similar to retrovirus. There are two types of LTR transposons. One is autonomous
transposon which contains gag, pol and envelop genes. It can code all enzyme needed
for reverse transcription in a retroviral manner, and then induces integration and
causes amplification of sequences. The other one is
Evaluation Of The Performance Appraisal
Performance appraisals are used in business today as a means of providing critical
feedback to employees on their performance in the workplace. In a global
environment, particular care needs to be exercised to ensure the message delivered
and received by employees is sensitive to the cultural differences between the
parties. This document will be discussing a situation where unintended
consequences arose during a performance appraisal. The document will provide for
a synopsis of the case study, background information, and some of the strengths and
weaknesses of the performance appraisal. A review of if the situation could have
been avoided and should the supervisor have anticipated the employee reaction will
also be discussed. Finally, a review of culturesensitivity in performance evaluations
will be analyzed and to determine if the interaction style between the parties was the
reason for the ultimate outcome.

ABSTRACT
The research work is on determination of optimum dosage of soda ash or lime in
treating underground water in Makurdi metropolis. In the course of carrying out
the work, samples of borehole and well water from five different locations of the
study area (Makurdi) were obtained and analyzed in Benue State water works. The
sample were analyzed to ascertain the level of hardness in samples and to
determine the optimum values of soda ash (Na2CO3) and lime (Ca(OH)2) that will
be used in reducing hardness and treating the sample in the study area. The locations
were, North Bank, Wurukum, Wadata, High Level and Kanshio. The hardness level
in the study area was found to range from 200mg/L to 80mg/L averagely; this was
found to lay outside the WHO (1993) drinking water standards of 75mg/L to 100mg
/L. On analysis, the hardness was found to range from 76mg/L to 100mg/L
(borehole) at optimal level. Which was found to range within the WHO (1993)
drinking water standard. While for well, range from 20mg/L to 80mg/L at optimal

My Dream Of Life
As a teenager, I led a sheltered life. You could normally find me at school or
babysitting my younger brothers. I dreamt about being able to go to the movies,
bowling, or having sleepovers with my friends. I would occasionally go out with
my friends, but my brothers were normally with me. I would one day finally have
the chance to experience the freedom I have always dreamt of. I would become the
confident, popular, and outgoing person I always dreamt about. In the meantime,
my parents announced that they had plans to move to Ohio, and I began thinking
about staying in Michigan. After school, I would rush home to do my homework,
help my brothers with their own, and do my chores. The rest of our day consisted
of coming up with ways to entertain ourselves. While my brothers would play with
friends or build towns out of Legos, I would read. I looked forward every day to
losing myself in a book. Books permitted me to pretend I was living a different life
in a new exciting world. I later found a different past time in the form of online
video games. I remember the day my father brought home Phantasy Star, the first
online video game. I was enthralled with it. I could build my own character, change
how she looked, and pretend I was just like her. At first, I quietly played in the
background, listening to others talk and laugh while they played. After that I started
to join in on the conversations. I quickly became the person I always wanted to be. I
was popular and could pretend
Analysis Of Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee
Do you have the courage to stand up for good when evil lingers all around? To Kill
a Mockingbird is set in the town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the great depression,
while facing social status discrimination, racial discrimination, prejudices, and
stereotyping. However, there remained courage by some to see good in all. While
Atticus Finch was of a higher social statusas an attorney in Maycomb, he always
displayed the courage to stand up for what was right, or for good, even when evil
lingered in the shadows. While this story was from great depression, these same
issues are still in the world today. Prejudices and stereotyping are very common
especially when one looks, or dresses, or talks differently than others. Courage comes
into play when one is willing to stand up for those being criticized or for those

Informal Assessment
1. Informal Assessment:
I had a conversation with the head classroom teacher for the student and she
outlined the student I assessed, Hamilton Brown, and his diagnosis. He is in the 4th
grade and is diagnosed with Developmental Disability, and is in a self contained
Special Education classroom at the Opportunity School program in Oswego, Illinois.
Per the interview, I was able to select a few items I believed would have a better
chance at being reinforcement items for this specific student. I performed an informal
sit down interview with the teacher and asked her, along with the student s
paraprofessional, about what items he preferred. The teacher told me ultimately, he
enjoys eating snacks, preferably sweet ones. Additionally, his favorite... Show more

Because of time constraints, I was able to conduct one session. I presented five
different tangibles to him and it was discovered that he enjoyed handheld toys
more than larger toys. Additionally, he preferred 1 handed toys and picked those
before the toys he was required to follow more rules in (i.e. solve a puzzle). He
found interest in all the items, and had I used extra time to conduct another
assessment, the results would show to be more accurate. The session was cut short
after Hamilton stood up and walked away from the table. This led me to believe that
the toys were either not as reinforcing or the soft music playing in the hallway was
too distracting for him to
Occupational Safety And Health Management
OHSAS 18001: Occupational safety and health management OHSAS 18001 is a
standard from the national group of standards that defines the requirements that are
of relation to the system of safety management and occupational health. The standard
exists to ensure that all kinds of organizations demonstrate a safe and healthy
performance. In 2007 specifications for the OHSAS 18001 were updated, this
updates included a new specification closely related to the structures of ISO 14001
and ISO 9001. These helped the organization adapt the standard alongside the already
existing standards and managementsystems, after the update the component of health
in health and safety received more emphasis. The standard enables response to urgent
demand by customers for a recognizable occupational safety and healthsystem of
management standard against the existing management system. The OHSAS 18001
standard is compatible to the ISOs related to the environment and those of quality,
this facilitate the integration of the environment, quality, safety management, and
occupational health in an organizations. When an organization adapts to the standard
the general management becomes easier in all aspects. There has been development
of guidelines for implementation of the OHSAS standard that helps in the general
consumer demand that enables the assessing and the verification of the standard.
Recently all kinds of organizations have shown interest in demonstrating
U.s. Troop Surge Policy
Another example of Bush s obstinacy is the surge in troops he approved in Iraq.
The conventional wisdom about the U.S. troop surge was that by 2006, Iraq was
in complete chaos, and because of this, many Americans called for the U.S. to bring
the troops home. Instead of withdrawing U.S. troops, President Bush sent in 30,000
additional ones against the advice of a number of his advisors (Bowman). Bush
assembled a panel of scholars, historians, and retired four star generals to help him
create a new plan for the war in Iraq. The majority of these panel members agreed on
one thing, the current track that the U.S. was on was not working, and advised
Bush to change tactics. After a number of meetings with the committee, Bush
decided to stay on course with his original plan and completely ignored the counsel
of his own hand picked advising panel. The justification was for such a move was
that by the end of 2007, Iraq started to stabilize. For example, in 2008, Senator
Lindsey Graham spoke out on the subject at Republican National Convention and
said that, by every measure, the surge of troops into Iraq has worked (Bowman). In
a 2007 speech to Congress on the surge in the Middle East, General David Petraeus
agreed and proclaimed, The military objectives of the surge are, in large measure,
being met (Bowman). On the other hand, some disagree that Bush s aggressive
strategy and blatant disregard of his advisors wishes were the reasons for success.

Bobby Phillips Essay
Robert Bobby Phillips was an ordinary teenager, on a regular Tuesday morning in
Chicago he discovered that he wasn t there. He tottered to the restroom as usual to
take his shower in the dark. When he flickered the light switch, what he didn t see
brutally terrified him. He soon made the decision to speak to his parents about the
strange situation. Bobby s mother, Emily Phillips, was an English professor. On
the other hand, his father, David, was a scientist. At first, his parents did not
believe that he was invisible; however he soon proved them wrong by doing one of
his famous tricks. After having a brief argument with his parents, Bobby chose to
bundle up and travel to the library. Even though he was not visible, his figure can
be seen when he wears clothing. Bobby spent lots of time in the library, since it was
one of his favorite locations. When he perceived that it was passed his curfew, he
rushed out of the place, accidently bumping into a high school girl. Bobby was

Cultural Versions Of Cinderella
The adaptation of the different cultural versions of Cinderella has blossomed over
the many years since this story was first told. From the Charles Perrault s version
to Jakob Wilhelm Grimm, and Campbell Grants version for Disney and everything

poorly by her evil step mother and step sisters. With magic on her side, she always

At RA Jones Middle School, math and reading achievement is low. According to the
2014 2015 School Report Card from the Kentucky Department of Education, 42.2% of
Rector A. Jones Middle School students are proficient/distinguished in reading and
26.3% are proficient/distinguished in math. As a middle school math and science
teacher, I want to give my students tools that they can use to help them be successful
in any subject area, in their current lives and in their futures. It is important that
middle schoolteachers help students develop into independent thinkers that take
responsibility for their own learning and achievement (Lines, 1994). One tool that can
be beneficial to students as they progress through school and beyond is the use of self
assessment. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of using student
self assessment and progress monitoring strategies on student achievement in sixth
grade. Student self assessment and progress monitoring is a process of formative
assessment, during which students reflect on and evaluate the quality of their work
and their learning, make judgments on whether they met the stated goals or learning
criteria, identify strengths and weaknesses in their work, and revise accordingly
(Spiller, 2012). Specific research questions that will be answered after this study
concludes are as follows:
1. What is the effect of self assessment/progress monitoring strategies on student
achievement based upon end of unit

a new type of hero. Written by Charles Moulton (pseudonym of Psychologist

the lead feature in a new anthology series Sensation Comics. An ardent believer in
feminism, and a great admirer of Margaret Sangster, founder of Planned

of America s oldest traditions since the first colonists landed in America access to
land and game have only been restricted when nescessary. As times have changed,
more land bought, and made exclusively private a need arose to help preserve wildlife

that access to everyone several legislative actions have been taken to generate money
to fund these efforts. On the national level the first legislation aimed towards
collection of taxes from hunting to fuel conservation and wild life management was
the The Pittman Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937. States have the most
important stake in funding conservation and wildlife management through the use of

Family Is An Definition Of Family
What is a family? The definition of family can be defined in many different ways.
According to Merriam Webster s definition of family is, A group of people related
to each other (Merriam Webster 1). Although family can be defined as a relative, it
can also mean a group of people who share the qualities of a family, such as caring,
loving, and supportive. When playing in a team sport, it is necessary that all of the
teammates share a special bond. During the previous volleyball season, the team
struggled to find a connection between the players because they had never played
together nor were all of them friends outside of volleyball. As the season progressed,
the bond between all of the players grew despite some challenges. The team... Show

The sister and brother had different views about women in ministry, for she is a
minister herself, but what matters most is that they got past their disagreements to
work together for a fellow family member. They could have just decided to have
one of them plan the wedding if they were unable to come to an agreement, but
they got past it. The siblings were able to have a loving relationship through
communication, support, and compromise. To add, Some people face similar
situations when they are coming out to their family if they are gay or lesbian. In
fact, it has been proven better for their health. According to an article titled, Coming
Out as Gay Can Have Health Benefits If Family is Supportive: Study describes a
recent study done by Boston University School of Public Health about the positive
effects of coming out. It reads, Two thirds of lesbian, gay and bisexual adults in a
representative Massachusetts sample experienced significantly less mental health and
substance abuse problems if they received positive support from their parents after
coming out (The Huffington Post 1). Evidently, a supportive family has some life
changing effects to their children and their sexuality because if the family is not
supportive, it can cause problems like drugs and suicidal thoughts. Additionally, a

Children Are An Important Part Of The Continuation Of...
Children are an important part of the continuation of humanity, both as a species and
culturally. However, there are few references, outside of the instances where laws in
relation to orphans or widows or introduced, that discuss children in the Old
Testament. There are times where the birth of a child is mentioned, as is the case
when Eve bore Cain in Genesis 4.1. However, there is no mention of his childhood.
Rather, the story continues when he is an adult farmer. The New Testament includes
references to children other than as a reference to genealogy or to celebrate a birth.
These are very important to understanding the shift in tone from the previous books
of the Bible. In Matthew 18, the disciples ask Jesuswho the greatest in the kingdom
of heaven will be (18.1). He calls a child from among them before answering in the
following verse. Before examining the answer, it is work noting that children are
present. It is easy to forget when reading through the previous books that there are
children, whether they are the patriarch s, a villager s, or a servant s, that could be
present in many of the scenes depicted. They are not mentioned because their
presence is unimportant to that particular tale. However, here they are important. So
important, that Jesus feels the need to bring one to him. It is also important to note
that the text only says that [h]e called a child (4.2). This child is not identified as
male or female, the fact is irrelevant to this particular story.

Hedge Fund Vs Mutual Fund Essay
Hedge Fund vs Mutual Fund, Understanding The Differences
Dwayne Strocen
By Dwayne Strocen
Apr 30, 2010
In 1949 Australian Alfred Jones was credited with the term hedge fund . Historically
it derives its name from the use of hedging to manage risk while achieving superior
returns. Today, a hedge fundis an un regulated investment vehicle designated for
sophisticated, also known as the Accredited Investor .
Mutual funds gained popularity in the 1980 s. Prior to this time, the problem of the
small investor was in obtaining sufficient knowledge to make informed investment
decisions, and so the average person avoided stock market investing. Instead money
was held in traditional savings accounts or placed with a bank in a Guaranteed
Investment Certificate ( GIC ) or Certificate of Deposit ( CD ).
What to do. The small investor was not able to obtain a professional money manager
without $10 million or more to start. But what if he could pool his money with other
small investors to reach this minimum threshold. And so the mutual fund was created
to address these exact concerns.
The mutual fund concept was simple, allow the un sophisticated investor access to
the strategies of the professional money manager. This was done by pooling small
sums of money, as little as $20.00 deposited monthly. In return, the fund company
would use professional money managers using professional investment strategies to
easily out perform traditional bank savings products.

Pros And Cons Of School Shootings
School shootings are terrifying and a big problem in today s society. Schools have
added lockdown drills, bullet proof glass and metal detectors. School should be a
safe area for children to learn instead of fearing for their life. Instead of buying
metal detectors and hiring more officers, there is a much easier solution in order to
decrease and prevent school shootings. We have to be more alert about securing
weapons at home and being aware of suspicious behavior at school in order to keep
children and faculty safe. As a child left for school one morning, his parents thought
that he had been acting very odd and different. Even with their suspicion, they said
goodbye and let their son go to school.
It wasn t till later when they had noticed an empty spot in their gun case where a
pistol and shotgun used to sit. They rushed to the school and while searching through
the halls for their son, their ears echoed with a gunshot from one of the classrooms.
Following the gunshot, they rushed into the classroom and immediately disarmed
and physically detained their son until police arrived. The only damages the son had
caused, was a plate sized hole in the ceiling. If the parents had gotten to the school
even one minute later, their son could have been labeled as a murderer.
It is sickening to know that a child was able to sneak past his parents, teachers, and
students with two firearms on his body. His parents were lucky they arrived when
they did because many of people could have been hurt or even worse murdered.
Obviously, the child that brought the two firearms to school should be the one
punished, but what about the parents. The parents that did not have a weapon that
could easily end someone s life, properly locked up or hidden away. If parents are
going to carelessly leave firearms unlocked with ammo nearby, what is stopping a
child from doing wrong with that firearm? Leaving firearms unlocked with any aged
child around, hoping they don t touch it is a dangerous and irresponsible act.
When school shootings occur, the individual that brings the weapon to school should
be the one punished. However, when the parents irresponsibly leave a firearm
unlocked they should face a punishment as well. 68% of school

Joint Venture Failures
A joint venture is a contractual agreement joining together two or more parties for the
purpose of executing a particular business undertaking (InvestorWords, 2008). Some
of the most significant benefits gained from joint venturing include, a reduced risk of
both companies resulting from capital and resource sharing, the opportunity to
increase sales, and enhance technological capabilities through research and
development underwritten by one party (INC, 2009). Joint ventures also provide a
mode for entering foreign markets because the partnering companies join
complementary skills and knowhow with local firms (Qiu, 1984). Companies often

The total investment in joint operation would equal ten million dollars. Although the
common goal between the partnering firms was to successfully extract high quality
stone, each firm had its own individual goal of how to benefit from the project. The
difference in goals was a result in the difference in the financial risk, operating risks,
and contributions from each company (Chalos, 2002). Prosperity Ltd s goal was to
secure a payback term of five years and continue operations with high profit, they
would have a high operating risk and a high financial risk. Tomiyama construction
Machinery Ltd s goal was to secure initial inroads for the sale of heavy machinery
to the Peoples Republic of China market, they would have a low operating and a
low financial risk in the joint venture. Tagawa Crush Stone International Ltd s goal
was to secure source of supply of stone for the Japanese market, they would have a
low operating risk and a low financial risk in the joint venture. Finally, Tien Shan Ltd
s goal in the joint venture was to share a stable return from the quarry operations, and
to ensure employment of local Chinese citizens, they would have a minimal operating
risk and no financial risk in the joint venture (Chalos, 2002). From the combined
resources of each partnering company, the joint venture was able to begin
construction in March of 1995, and was able to output the quarry stone
Urbanisation
Urbanisation builds an equitable society The process of people moving into cities,
which is called urbanisation, was happening around the world in past decades. It
causes cities to have more labourers and resources than before. This makes a big
contribution to the social development of cities. Thanks to these social
developments, public services are becoming better in these areas. Citizens can
enjoy a better life by access these public services such as better medical care, more
education resources and well built transport. It means an equitable society can be
created. An equitable society means citizens can have more opportunities to access
social resources and to live a better life. This essay will argue that... Show more

This evidence shows that urbanisation contributes a lot to the public transport system
in Guangdong. There have built several different kinds of public transports that
can connect to many other cities. People can use these public transports equally.
By using these convenient transports, people can live a high efficiency life because
less time is spent on the way. That is to say, even those people far away from
Guangdong can go to Guangdong quickly and access the resources in Guangdong
more easily. So people can enjoy different kinds of resources equally because of
convenient transport. Secondly, urbanisation brings more goods to citizens and
people can improve their life quality by using these goods. According to Li amp;
Yao (2009, p. 1995), electrical appliances are becoming popular because of
urbanisation. For example, air conditional owner ship is rapidly growing up in
China. Some families even have more than two units. From this evidence, it can be
showed that urbanisation brings more modernised goods such as air conditioners to
citizens. Citizens can access these useful goods more easily and they are able to live
a higher standard life by using these goods. They have the same opportunities to buy
these goods to improve their life quality. This means the opportunities to improve the
quality of life can become equal in the society. All in all, urbanisation builds an

Published in 1945, Richard Wright s autobiographical novel Black Boy was to prove
the contrary. It documented prejudice and oppression caused by the Jim Crow laws
in the Deep South in the early twentieth century. It is an account of the difficult road

As years pass by Richard s alienation increases in relation to the black community
and the white world. Wright seems to criticize the subdued members of the black

southern whites have introduced for the blacks is so dominant that when Richard
s first short story is published in a black newspaper, instead of receiving
compliments he is regarded as weird and he becomes even more isolated from the
community. His grandmother accuses him of lying and condemns his fiction as
devil s work. It is this sense of isolation that drives Richard towards writing. Later in
his life he grows to understand the true power of his words.
Perhaps the most difficult challenge for Richard during the years in the South is to
learn to deal with white people. He cannot understand why he should adapt to white
supremacy and content with his place as a second class citizen. However, in order to
make his way out of the South, he has no choice but to act
Methane Vaccination
Vaccination as a Strategy for Ruminal Methane Mitigation
Abstract
As global warming becomes an imminent issue, more importance is being placed on
the role of methane in this process. Methane (CH4) is produced in the rumen of
livestock such as cattle by a variety of methane producing archaea (methanogens),
with Methanobrevibacter being a prevailing genus and thus frequent target in vaccine
development. While agricultural methane reduction strategies have largely focused
on altering livestock diet, the successful vaccination of animals against Lactobacillus
spp. and Streptococcus bovis has provided inspiration in the development of an anti
methanogen vaccine for use in ruminants (Shu et. al., 1999). This paper will explore
the potential for methanogen vaccination through the evaluation of two promising
vaccine studies against Methanobrevibacter ruminantium.
Introduction
Benefits of reducing methane While carbon dioxide continues to be the leading
contributor to global warming, methane is estimated to be at least 25 times more
potent than carbon dioxide (CO2), and its emissions have been increasing at
roughly 6 parts per billion per year since 2006 (Nisbet et. al., 2014). Livestock
produces 80 million tons of CH4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
al., 2010). Groups of sheep were vaccinated with whole cells of M. ruminantium
M1, cell wall fraction, cytoplasmic fraction, or cell wall derived proteins. The
vaccine composed of whole cells contained 108 cells, while each protein vaccine
contained 0.1 mg protein. Each sheep was then subsequently injected in the neck
with an antigenic preparation and an adjuvant. Both serum and saliva were collected
prior to vaccination, as well as 2 weeks after re vaccination in newborn and 9 11
month old lambs. ELISA was then used to measure antibodies present in the sera and
Sonny s Blues And The Garden Party Analysis
It has been said that in life all a person needs is one person to believe in you or
impact you to make a difference in one s life. In the two short stories: Sonny s
Blues and The Garden Party, two contrasting characters had been impacted by
another character in each story. Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin and The Garden
Party by Katherine Mansfield are very different but they have many similarities. The
Garden Party is about the Sheridan family who come from an upper classfamily in
20th century New Zealand, who are holding a garden party. Sonny s Blues on the
other hand is about a man that is in prison for a heroin addiction and is a story
based in Harlem New York, a predominantly black neighborhood in New York City
that was notorious for poverty, crime and substance abuse. The characters both come
from very different walks of life, and both come from very different cultures, yet
they are both similar in other ways. Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin and The
Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield are very different but they both have secondary
characters that exert influence in their stories.
First of all, in the story Sonny s Blues, Sonny exerted influence into the life of his
brother (who is the unnamed narrator) in the story. The story is about two brothers
that have two very different lives. The older brother (which is the unnamed narrator),
is an algebra teacher, while his younger brother named Sonny is in prison for selling
and using heroin. Both Sonny and his brother lead

Title of essay: An evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of adopting the
Euro. A case study of The UK I. Introduction
An introduction of the new common currency in the Europe was announced on the
first day of January 1999. At the first time, there were eleven countries, which decided
to join the European Union (EU) and replace their own currency with a new one, the
Euro. The Euro has been adopted as a official currency of the country members
including Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg,
Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. In order to be accepted to join the Euro, these
countries had to agree with the agreement about the price stability, long term interest
rate, government budget deficits, total ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this phase Greece, after fulfilling convergence criteria, joined the EMU.
2. The advantages of joining the Euro
2.1 Exchange rate stability
Joining the Euro will reduce exchange rate volatility with the main EU trading
partners. In order to maintain stable exchange rates between the Euro and the
participating national currencies so as to avoid excessive exchange rate
fluctuations on the internal market, The Europa (2007) shows he ERM II was set
up on 1 January 1999. After agreeing a central exchange rate between the Euro and
the country s currency, the ERM II allows the currency to fluctuate up to 15%
above or below the central rate. Moreover, when necessary, the ECB and the central
bank of the non Euro area Member State can support the currency to keep the
exchange rate in the safe ratio. In fact, the Euro is stronger compared to 10 years
ago. According to Eurostat (2011), the exchange rate between the Euro and Pound
increased from 1EUR = ВЈ0.621 in 2001 to 1EUR = ВЈ0.872 in 2011, or 1EUR =
0.896 USD in 2001compared to 1.482USD in 2010.
If The United Kingdom joined the Euro, it would help to decrease the volatility of
exchange rate with its the main European Union trading partners. By the use of
single currency as a result of the enhancement of European single market, the single
currency would decrease uncertainties and risks experienced by exporters and
investors in their business dealings all over the zone. However, the pound is
Disappearance Of Jimmy Hoffa
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JIMMY HOFFA BY DERRICK PRUETT This essay is
to show you what Jimmy Hoffa s life was like and what may have happened to him
on the day that he disappeared, but first it will inform about his life prior to the
disappearance. Hoffa was born in Brazil, Indiana on February 14, 1913, to Indiana
natives John and Viola Hoffa. His father, who was of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry,
died in 1920 when Hoffa was 7 years old. The family left to live in Detroit in 1924,
where Hoffa grew up and lived out his life. Hoffa left school at age 14 and began
working full time manual labor jobs, to help support his family. Hoffa met Josephine
Poszywak, a Detroit laundry worker, at Bowling Green, Ohio on September 24,
1936; during a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is that he was ground up in a processing plant that is Michigan and
disposed of in a Florida swamp or at a fat rendering plant. The second is that his
remains were mixed in the concrete that was used to make the New York Giants
stadium, but the Mythbusters proved that to be wrong. As the time continued,
witnesses to appear everywhere. No one knows why Provenzano would have been
part of the meeting if he was going to kill Hoffa. The men who were supposed to
kill Hoffa showed up 45 minutes late, which also seemed weird. Mobsters find that
punctuality certainly makes the job easier, which makes it even more unusual.
These questions unanswered, the authorities were able to find the car, and traces of
blood and hair inside, that Hoffa got into. Many believed that Hoffa was garroted
from behind, when he entered the car. Though all these theories may or may not be
true, they are purely conjecture. Despite this, over the years, Hoffa has been
declared legally dead and along with many of the suspects or they have gone to
prison. Any convictions for the murder would depend on testimony from an inside
source but none have been found. This is a fact that may prove that any chance of
finding out what happened is gone. Though this essay is to show you what may have
happened, it can t tell you what actually
Chronic OE
(b) Chronic OE this is same as acute diffuse OE but is of longer duration lasting more
than 6 weeks. Chronic OE is a fairly common condition that is sometimes the result of
incomplete treatment of acute OE. More often however, chronic OE is caused by
over manipulation of the ear canal as a consequence of cleaning and scratching. Such
over manipulation results in a low grade inflammatory response that causes further
itching of the skin. Eventually, the skin thickens, and canal stenosis may occur.
Eczematous (eczematoid) which encompasses various dermatologic conditions (e.g.
atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and eczema) may infect
the EAC and cause chronic otitis externa (3).

Fungal OE may also result from overtreatment with topical antibiotics or may raise
de novo from moisture trapped in the EAC. It is caused by Aspergillus 80 90% of
the time; Candida and other organisms have also been isolated. This condition is
characterized by long, white, filamentous hyphae growing from the skin surface.
Besides otorrhea, erythema and edema of the EAC are common. In severe cases, soft
tissue stenosis may be present. Extension of the infection may manifest as cellulitic
skin changes involving the concha of the auricle and the tragus

  • 2. The Evolution Of Polar Bears Only from the literal definition, the evolution is a process which something passes by degrees to a different stage, especially a more advanced or mature stage. For instance, in the ancient time, it is because the dinosaurs had already deracinated so that other animals who survived evolve in order to comfort to the times. Among these animals, apes are a typical example of evolutionas they gradually develop to become todays human. Nonetheless, at present, it seems that it is not exceedingly easy to feel the existence of the phenomena of evolution. Furthermore, except the melting of the ice, global warming also boosts the range of activity of grizzly bears for crossbreeding with polar

However, the economy seems to be recovering faster than economists had originally predicted. With GDP and consumer spending up year over year, we feel that the worst is behind us and growth will continue globally through 2012. As unemployment starts to fall and credit starts to loosen up, we feel consumers will continue to increase their spending. Although this may sound good for the brewing industry, this may not be so. In 2008, when the recession was at its peak, beer sales increased more than wine sales for the first time in nearly a decade. We can compare this event to Wal Mart, who benefits during recessionary periods due to their cheap prices. But as the economy recovers and consumer spending increases, the upward trend in wine sales is likely to continue, putting pressure on breweries to increase sales by decreasing prices. This price war is harmful to the industry, and has a negative effect on profit margin. Industry Analysis amp; Forecasts When an industry has been around as long as the beer brewing industry has, it is no secret that it has reached a pinnacle. At the same time, it shows no signs of decline, therefore

Jimmy prefers to see his daughter with the most respected but violent man in the neighbourhood than Brendan. This ironic situation causes Katie to secretly date this kind boy and lie to her father to ensure he doesn t disown her. This has tremendous repercussions on this family since they cannot trust each other due to Jimmy s restrictions on Katie. It becomes a broken family since the father is not letting his daughter follow her heart and desires. This brings consequences such as Katie lying to him and making sure he won t discover her secret. The author points out this ironic situation to demonstrate the lack of trust between them and how this affects the family. Katie will

It is an icy writing, with many different thoughts to extract from it. A main theme in this novel is society and morality are obstacles to the fulfillment of desire(SparkNotes: Ethan Frome Themes.) • 10. The Realm Of Military Power And International Security Essay Socialization in the realm of military power and international security The fact that states are socialized through endogenous and exogenous variables is impossible to deny. This socialization, Finnemore argues, leads states to accept new norms, values and perceptions of interest. These shifts are frequently felt on a global scale as perceptions of interest alter state relationships and vice versa. Military interests are merely a reflection of states interests; therefore, these newly adopted norms and values inevitably seep into the realm of military power and international security. However, military values prioritize the security of the state first and foremost, therefore, certain norms and values are either accepted later than the rest of a state s society, or simply never accepted. An example of this would be women not being allowed to hold front line infantry positions or certain high level special operations roles in the military. Women not being able to hold certain positions in part due to a fear that they will interfere with group cohesion , does not accurately reflect the social norms and values we value so highly as a country; such as gender equality. International security is also heavily affected by adoptions of new values and norms seeing as states interact with other states, based on their perceptions of them. These perceptions are in turn shaped by the shared norms and values of that state s society and how their interests are perceived. Norms are social

  • 14. Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory Study Another theory that is relevant to the study is Albert Bandura s (1977) Social Learning Theory. Unlike the experiential learning theory which is more focused on how the environment affects the behavior of the individual, the social learning theory is based on the idea that we learn from our interactions with others in a social context. Moreover, by observing the behaviors of others, people tend to copy and develop similar behaviors. New concepts of social learningare being formulated as new trends in distance education programs continue to emerge. The rise in popularity of these programs continues to increase the physical distance between educators and students (Smith Berge, 2009). Bandura called this as vicarious reinforcement. What he meant is that when the child observes someone else being rewarded for a particular behavior this then affects the child in the same way as it would had that the child produced the same behavior and been rewarded for it. Similarly, vicarious punishment is possible where the child observes a model being punished for a behavior thus the child is less likely to produce the behavior because of this observation. There are three types of retrotransposons in Class I and one in Class II. So normally, transposable elements can be categorized in four types. In addition, transposons can be classed into two type, autonomous and non autonomous, with a different method (Figure 1) [1]. Retrotransposon is a major component of Junk DNA . It can copy itself and it contains long terminal repeat (LTR) transposons (retrovirus like), long interspersed nuclear elements (LINEs) and short interspersed nuclear elements (SINEs) which occupy a huge part of the genome [1]. LTR transposons are transposons flanked by long terminal repeats. This character is similar to retrovirus. There are two types of LTR transposons. One is autonomous transposon which contains gag, pol and envelop genes. It can code all enzyme needed for reverse transcription in a retroviral manner, and then induces integration and causes amplification of sequences. The other one is

I dreamt about being able to go to the movies, bowling, or having sleepovers with my friends. I would occasionally go out with my friends, but my brothers were normally with me. I would one day finally have the chance to experience the freedom I have always dreamt of. I would become the confident, popular, and outgoing person I always dreamt about. In the meantime, my parents announced that they had plans to move to Ohio, and I began thinking about staying in Michigan. After school, I would rush home to do my homework, help my brothers with their own, and do my chores. The rest of our day consisted of coming up with ways to entertain ourselves. While my brothers would play with friends or build towns out of Legos, I would read. I looked forward every day to losing myself in a book. Books permitted me to pretend I was living a different life in a new exciting world. I later found a different past time in the form of online video games. I remember the day my father brought home Phantasy Star, the first online video game. I was enthralled with it. I could build my own character, change how she looked, and pretend I was just like her. At first, I quietly played in the background, listening to others talk and laugh while they played. After that I started to join in on the conversations. I quickly became the person I always wanted to be. I was popular and could pretend
  • 22. Analysis Of Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee Do you have the courage to stand up for good when evil lingers all around? To Kill a Mockingbird is set in the town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the great depression, while facing social status discrimination, racial discrimination, prejudices, and stereotyping. However, there remained courage by some to see good in all. While Atticus Finch was of a higher social statusas an attorney in Maycomb, he always displayed the courage to stand up for what was right, or for good, even when evil lingered in the shadows. While this story was from great depression, these same issues are still in the world today. Prejudices and stereotyping are very common especially when one looks, or dresses, or talks differently than others. Courage comes into play when one is willing to stand up for those being criticized or for those perceived as being a lower social status. Having courage can show more about a person and who one is regardless of social status even if it is a lower social status. Courage can be viewed or displayed in many ways. Atticus Finch displayed courage when he agreed to take Tom Robinson s case even though he knew the townspeople of Maycomb would take the side of a low class white man over that of a decent black man. In his discussion with his son Jem, Atticus said There s something in our world that makes men lose their heads they couldn t be fair if they tried. In our courts, when it s a white man s word against a black man s, the white man always wins. They re

  • 25. U.s. Troop Surge Policy Another example of Bush s obstinacy is the surge in troops he approved in Iraq. The conventional wisdom about the U.S. troop surge was that by 2006, Iraq was in complete chaos, and because of this, many Americans called for the U.S. to bring the troops home. Instead of withdrawing U.S. troops, President Bush sent in 30,000 additional ones against the advice of a number of his advisors (Bowman). Bush assembled a panel of scholars, historians, and retired four star generals to help him create a new plan for the war in Iraq. The majority of these panel members agreed on one thing, the current track that the U.S. was on was not working, and advised Bush to change tactics. After a number of meetings with the committee, Bush decided to stay on course with his original plan and completely ignored the counsel of his own hand picked advising panel. The justification was for such a move was that by the end of 2007, Iraq started to stabilize. For example, in 2008, Senator Lindsey Graham spoke out on the subject at Republican National Convention and said that, by every measure, the surge of troops into Iraq has worked (Bowman). In a 2007 speech to Congress on the surge in the Middle East, General David Petraeus agreed and proclaimed, The military objectives of the surge are, in large measure, being met (Bowman). On the other hand, some disagree that Bush s aggressive strategy and blatant disregard of his advisors wishes were the reasons for success. Doug Ollivant, an Army

As a middle school math and science teacher, I want to give my students tools that they can use to help them be successful in any subject area, in their current lives and in their futures. It is important that middle schoolteachers help students develop into independent thinkers that take responsibility for their own learning and achievement (Lines, 1994). One tool that can be beneficial to students as they progress through school and beyond is the use of self assessment. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of using student self assessment and progress monitoring strategies on student achievement in sixth grade. Specific research questions that will be answered after this study concludes are as follows: 1. What is the effect of self assessment/progress monitoring strategies on student achievement based upon end of unit

However, there are few references, outside of the instances where laws in relation to orphans or widows or introduced, that discuss children in the Old Testament. There are times where the birth of a child is mentioned, as is the case when Eve bore Cain in Genesis 4.1. However, there is no mention of his childhood. Rather, the story continues when he is an adult farmer. The New Testament includes references to children other than as a reference to genealogy or to celebrate a birth. These are very important to understanding the shift in tone from the previous books of the Bible. In Matthew 18, the disciples ask Jesuswho the greatest in the kingdom of heaven will be (18.1). He calls a child from among them before answering in the following verse. Before examining the answer, it is work noting that children are present. It is easy to forget when reading through the previous books that there are children, whether they are the patriarch s, a villager s, or a servant s, that could be present in many of the scenes depicted. They are not mentioned because their presence is unimportant to that particular tale. However, here they are important. So important, that Jesus feels the need to bring one to him. It is also important to note that the text only says that [h]e called a child (4.2). This child is not identified as male or female, the fact is irrelevant to this particular story.

  • 38. Pros And Cons Of School Shootings School shootings are terrifying and a big problem in today s society. Schools have added lockdown drills, bullet proof glass and metal detectors. School should be a safe area for children to learn instead of fearing for their life. Instead of buying metal detectors and hiring more officers, there is a much easier solution in order to decrease and prevent school shootings. We have to be more alert about securing weapons at home and being aware of suspicious behavior at school in order to keep children and faculty safe. As a child left for school one morning, his parents thought that he had been acting very odd and different. Even with their suspicion, they said goodbye and let their son go to school. It wasn t till later when they had noticed an empty spot in their gun case where a pistol and shotgun used to sit. They rushed to the school and while searching through the halls for their son, their ears echoed with a gunshot from one of the classrooms. Following the gunshot, they rushed into the classroom and immediately disarmed and physically detained their son until police arrived. The only damages the son had caused, was a plate sized hole in the ceiling. If the parents had gotten to the school even one minute later, their son could have been labeled as a murderer. It is sickening to know that a child was able to sneak past his parents, teachers, and students with two firearms on his body. His parents were lucky they arrived when they did because many of people could have been hurt or even worse murdered. Obviously, the child that brought the two firearms to school should be the one punished, but what about the parents. The parents that did not have a weapon that could easily end someone s life, properly locked up or hidden away. If parents are going to carelessly leave firearms unlocked with ammo nearby, what is stopping a child from doing wrong with that firearm? Leaving firearms unlocked with any aged child around, hoping they don t touch it is a dangerous and irresponsible act. When school shootings occur, the individual that brings the weapon to school should be the one punished. However, when the parents irresponsibly leave a firearm unlocked they should face a punishment as well. 68% of school

  • 43. Methane Vaccination Vaccination as a Strategy for Ruminal Methane Mitigation Abstract As global warming becomes an imminent issue, more importance is being placed on the role of methane in this process. Methane (CH4) is produced in the rumen of livestock such as cattle by a variety of methane producing archaea (methanogens), with Methanobrevibacter being a prevailing genus and thus frequent target in vaccine development. While agricultural methane reduction strategies have largely focused on altering livestock diet, the successful vaccination of animals against Lactobacillus spp. and Streptococcus bovis has provided inspiration in the development of an anti methanogen vaccine for use in ruminants (Shu et. al., 1999). This paper will explore the potential for methanogen vaccination through the evaluation of two promising vaccine studies against Methanobrevibacter ruminantium. Introduction Benefits of reducing methane While carbon dioxide continues to be the leading contributor to global warming, methane is estimated to be at least 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide (CO2), and its emissions have been increasing at roughly 6 parts per billion per year since 2006 (Nisbet et. al., 2014). Livestock produces 80 million tons of CH4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... al., 2010). Groups of sheep were vaccinated with whole cells of M. ruminantium M1, cell wall fraction, cytoplasmic fraction, or cell wall derived proteins. The vaccine composed of whole cells contained 108 cells, while each protein vaccine contained 0.1 mg protein. Each sheep was then subsequently injected in the neck with an antigenic preparation and an adjuvant. Both serum and saliva were collected prior to vaccination, as well as 2 weeks after re vaccination in newborn and 9 11 month old lambs. ELISA was then used to measure antibodies present in the sera and
  • 44. Sonny s Blues And The Garden Party Analysis It has been said that in life all a person needs is one person to believe in you or impact you to make a difference in one s life. In the two short stories: Sonny s Blues and The Garden Party, two contrasting characters had been impacted by another character in each story. Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin and The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield are very different but they have many similarities. The Garden Party is about the Sheridan family who come from an upper classfamily in 20th century New Zealand, who are holding a garden party. Sonny s Blues on the other hand is about a man that is in prison for a heroin addiction and is a story based in Harlem New York, a predominantly black neighborhood in New York City that was notorious for poverty, crime and substance abuse. The characters both come from very different walks of life, and both come from very different cultures, yet they are both similar in other ways. Sonny s Blues by James Baldwin and The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield are very different but they both have secondary characters that exert influence in their stories. First of all, in the story Sonny s Blues, Sonny exerted influence into the life of his brother (who is the unnamed narrator) in the story. The story is about two brothers that have two very different lives. The older brother (which is the unnamed narrator), is an algebra teacher, while his younger brother named Sonny is in prison for selling and using heroin. Both Sonny and his brother lead
  • 45. An Evaluation of the Advantages and Disadvantages of... Title of essay: An evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of adopting the Euro. A case study of The UK I. Introduction An introduction of the new common currency in the Europe was announced on the first day of January 1999. At the first time, there were eleven countries, which decided to join the European Union (EU) and replace their own currency with a new one, the Euro. The Euro has been adopted as a official currency of the country members including Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. In order to be accepted to join the Euro, these countries had to agree with the agreement about the price stability, long term interest rate, government budget deficits, total ... The advantages of joining the Euro 2.1 Exchange rate stability Joining the Euro will reduce exchange rate volatility with the main EU trading partners. In order to maintain stable exchange rates between the Euro and the participating national currencies so as to avoid excessive exchange rate fluctuations on the internal market, The Europa (2007) shows he ERM II was set up on 1 January 1999. After agreeing a central exchange rate between the Euro and the country s currency, the ERM II allows the currency to fluctuate up to 15% above or below the central rate. Moreover, when necessary, the ECB and the central bank of the non Euro area Member State can support the currency to keep the exchange rate in the safe ratio. In fact, the Euro is stronger compared to 10 years ago. According to Eurostat (2011), the exchange rate between the Euro and Pound increased from 1EUR = ВЈ0.621 in 2001 to 1EUR = ВЈ0.872 in 2011, or 1EUR = 0.896 USD in 2001compared to 1.482USD in 2010. If The United Kingdom joined the Euro, it would help to decrease the volatility of exchange rate with its the main European Union trading partners. By the use of single currency as a result of the enhancement of European single market, the single currency would decrease uncertainties and risks experienced by exporters and investors in their business dealings all over the zone. However, the pound is
  • 46. Disappearance Of Jimmy Hoffa THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JIMMY HOFFA BY DERRICK PRUETT This essay is to show you what Jimmy Hoffa s life was like and what may have happened to him on the day that he disappeared, but first it will inform about his life prior to the disappearance. Hoffa was born in Brazil, Indiana on February 14, 1913, to Indiana natives John and Viola Hoffa. His father, who was of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry, died in 1920 when Hoffa was 7 years old. The family left to live in Detroit in 1924, where Hoffa grew up and lived out his life. Hoffa left school at age 14 and began working full time manual labor jobs, to help support his family. The first is that he was ground up in a processing plant that is Michigan and disposed of in a Florida swamp or at a fat rendering plant. The second is that his remains were mixed in the concrete that was used to make the New York Giants stadium, but the Mythbusters proved that to be wrong. As the time continued, witnesses to appear everywhere. No one knows why Provenzano would have been part of the meeting if he was going to kill Hoffa. The men who were supposed to kill Hoffa showed up 45 minutes late, which also seemed weird. Mobsters find that punctuality certainly makes the job easier, which makes it even more unusual. These questions unanswered, the authorities were able to find the car, and traces of blood and hair inside, that Hoffa got into. Many believed that Hoffa was garroted from behind, when he entered the car. Though all these theories may or may not be true, they are purely conjecture. Despite this, over the years, Hoffa has been declared legally dead and along with many of the suspects or they have gone to prison. Any convictions for the murder would depend on testimony from an inside source but none have been found. This is a fact that may prove that any chance of finding out what happened is gone. Though this essay is to show you what may have happened, it can t tell you what actually
  • 47. Chronic OE (b) Chronic OE this is same as acute diffuse OE but is of longer duration lasting more than 6 weeks. Chronic OE is a fairly common condition that is sometimes the result of incomplete treatment of acute OE. More often however, chronic OE is caused by over manipulation of the ear canal as a consequence of cleaning and scratching. Such over manipulation results in a low grade inflammatory response that causes further itching of the skin. Eventually, the skin thickens, and canal stenosis may occur. Eczematous (eczematoid) which encompasses various dermatologic conditions (e.g. atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and eczema) may infect the EAC and cause chronic otitis externa (3). It is caused by Aspergillus 80 90% of the time; Candida and other organisms have also been isolated. This condition is characterized by long, white, filamentous hyphae growing from the skin surface. Besides otorrhea, erythema and edema of the EAC are common. In severe cases, soft tissue stenosis may be present. Extension of the infection may manifest as cellulitic skin changes involving the concha of the auricle and the tragus
