2. Raising a Global Kid in Today’s Modern Society
Raising a Global Kid in today s Modern Society
Peter L. Berger, a renowned American sociologist perceives the study of Sociology
as believing that the world is not what it appears to be1, whereby sociology
explores the mere surface of social issues plaguing the world today. Studying
sociology will see oneself analysing the relationship between an individual and social
structures established in the world today, and therefore the possibility of making
change in society based upon these drawn relationships. Through an examination of
parents raising a global kid where they move overseas so as to provide their children
with a culturally rich and bilingual education we shall explore an individual s
relationship between social structures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Globalisation, as espoused by Thomas Friedman, has made the world a flatter place,
as people from many cultures interact and overlap increasingly, especially in modern
society. In order for her child to be competitive and successful in a global economy ,
Maribeth decided to school her daughter in China, whereby her child will undergo
a unique form of Enculturation5 the process by which a child learns the ideas and
behaviours that constitute his or her culture as she would learn Chinese apart from
just English, and be fully immersed into Chinese culture. The different agents of
socialisation of her child, from school to having Chinese friends, are the reasons
why Maribeth believes that her child will therefore be competitive and successful in
a global economy . Her schooling of her child in China also exemplifies
globalisation s interweaving of the public and private spheres in modern society
today, as the private spheres of families are increasingly facing economic and cultural
pressures. This increasing interaction between the private and public spheres of
individuals debunks the Functionalist view that the Family is strictly confined to the
private sphere, mainly due to the effects of globalisation today.
Therefore, by exploring the reasons behind parents deciding to raise a global kid in a
globalised world, one is able to understand the workings of sociological concepts in
an individual s position in
3. Sexuality In Media Analysis
Sexualization of females has always been a problem. Many of the commercials
from the 60 s to the 2000 s depict women as nothing more than sexual beings to sell
a product. We often see commercials that deal nothing with the topic of sex use it as
a means of a way to sell products. In my presentation I used two videos one with
Paris HIlton and the other with Scarlett Johannson. They each are advertising two
well known companies one fast food restaurant and the other a well known
appliance. In my essay I will explain how sexuality in media affects adolescents, the
percentage between men and women being sexualized and the affect it has on young
girls. Although many of the women who are used as sex symbols in media consent to

A study was done in 2010 by the (APA) or American Psychological Association
which showed that the exposure of this kind teaches girls that they are objects and
should be treated as such. This type of exposure affects girls and women mentally
and emotionally with symptoms such as anxiety, shamefulness, eating disorders, low
self esteem and ultimately depression. Dove facilitated a self esteem project to
analyze the effect of sexual objectification and the self esteem of girls. In result it
showed that only 11 percent of girls considered themselves pretty while more than
half avoided participating in basic everyday activities because of looks.
Objectification is not a new thing it has happened throughout history if its not

4. What Is The Structure Of Ruth
The book of Ruth is the first book of the writing in the Old Testament, after the
book of Judges and before the book of Samuel. The book describes the daily life of a
Hebrews out of the presence of God. It begins with the story of a Hebrew family
that left the Promised Land (1294 BCE), and ends with the mention of King David,
the covenant king (1067 BCE). After Judges the Israelites were in a continual
disobedience in the presence of God, They were doing whatever was right in their
own eyes. (Judges 17:6). Knowing what happened before the story of Ruth helps us
understand the spiritual state and the behavior of the Israelites at that time. They
were experiencing pain due to the their disobedience, lack of faith, and broken
relationship with God as Yahweh. This story would be important for the Ancient
Hebrew people to understand and see the need of redemption for the Israelites....

In this literary structure each event in the story has a parallel part. They two parts
complete the meaning of one another. And the part with no parallel part is the main
focus of the story. The central point of the story of Ruth is when Boaz meets her.
Boaz was informed that Ruth was a Moabite, but Boaz responded by protecting her,
Listen, my daughter! Don t glean in any other field. Don t even leave this one, and
be sure to stay close to my women servants (Ruth
5. Silas Marner Isolation Quotes
After banishment from Lantern Yard, Silas Marner loses trust in all people and
even God. Poor Marner went out with that despair in his soul that shaken trust in
God and man, which is little short madness to a loving nature (Eliot, 14). Silas
believed that his name would be cleared from the crime he allegedly committed as
he did not challenge the methods used to determine his innocence. Because he
allowed chance to control his life, Silas lost all hope in humanity and barricaded
himself from the outside world. He invited no comer to step across his door still,
and he never strolled into the village to drink a pint at the Rainbow, or to gossip at
the wheelwright. (Eliot, 7). This quote exemplifies Silas mistrust of people and his
isolation from society as it shows Silas had no desire to connect with his neighbors
because he never integrated into his new home, Raveloe. Unknowingly, Silas Marner
found himself on a quest for happiness, but his... Show more content on

So, year after year, Silas Marner had lived in this solitude, his guineas rising in the
iron pot, and his life narrowing and hardening itself more and more into a mere
pulsation of desire and satisfaction that had no relation to other being (Eliot, 20).
The weaver s work became obsessive and soon the loom became equivalent to
Silas heartbeat. The gold controlled Silas life instead of Silas controlling his own
life, and it drove Silas into a state of simplicity. The need for more and more gold
took his mind off his troubling past and bringing Silas false relief. The love of
accumulating money grows an absorbing passion in men whose imaginations, even
in the very beginning of their hoard, showed them no purpose beyond it (Eliot, 14).
In the beginning, Silas did not want to collect more and more gold, but because of his
broken past and lonely habits, the money consumed his
6. Introduction. Unions Have Played A Big Role In Protecting
Introduction Unions have played a big role in protecting employees, but we have
come a long way from the lessons we have learned of the past situations. In the 19th
century the US became a new world for immigrants to produce a new life, working
conditions required hard work, fighting, long hours for little pay, but most
importantly, the unsafe conditions and manual labor that was bestowed upon these
workers. This created labors to start a union, but there have been some major issues
that ended badly such as the Haymarket riot, the homestead strike, and the Pullman
strike, but it took these problems to form a better working conditions for the labor s.
We have learned from the past that employers try to get away with such acts, that laws

This riot was planned to be a peaceful riot for a strike on an 8 hour day, ended up
turning into a battle between protesters and the police. Before the Haymarket Riot,
there were unions formed such as the Knights of Labor and other unions, which
this riot ended up hurting them after. When these unions formed, they were
relatively radical since they included women, blacks, immigrants and unskilled
workers and for that they wanted workers to have more control over the factories
where they worked. Employers did not like this and did not want the employees to
have any control over the factories so this caused factories to close and people lost
their jobs. But when the strike began it was to be a peaceful strike that ended up a
battle between the police and strikers and loss of life. Homestead Strike The
Homestead strike was considered among one of the most violent labor disputes in
history as the union wanted contracts and Management locked out workers from
their jobs, which owners wanted to open up jobs to non union workers. The
Homestead Strike, however, was organized and purposeful, a harbinger of the type
of strike that would mark the modern age of labor relations in the United States
(Boundless, 2017). Owners were out to make profit so they ended up closing
factories and hired workers that were nonunion. You still see this today or if unions
strike, the company will bring in non union members to work, until a deal is made,
but what we learned in the past is hopefully
7. The Swimmer Alcoholism
Why do people drink alcohol, is it to feel the effects, or cause it is cool ? These are
just some reasons, but these reason have lead to major problem. The problem is
alcoholism or simple misusing alcohol. This issue is present in the short story, The
Swimmer by John Cheever. The protagonist, Neddy Merrill starts drinking at a
party one day and he makes a goal to swim through all the pools on his way home.
While he swims the happy view of his life starts to turn dark and he realizes that
his happy views of his life is just an illusion. When he realizes this, it is already too
late and he starts to see that he has lost everything due to his drinking. The misuse of
alcoholis present in the quote He had been swimming and now he was breathing...

People claim to drink it just to feel the effects or to relieve stress. Even though
there are other ways to get those same effects from drinking alcohol have without

some false pride and later end up in the hospital or should they abstain from
alcohol and end up living a more happier life. If you are still not convinced read

night, and by noon the next day every bone in my body ached. In a blind panic, I
nervously poured a glass full of gin, my hands shaking so violently that I spilled
half the bottle. As I gulped it down, I could feel the agony gradually lessening.
Then I finally knew the terrible truth: I was hooked. I could not quit (Watch truth

8. Uncle Tom s Cabin Rhetorical Devices
Uncle Tom s Cabin is one of the world famous stories which depict the evil of
slavery. After reading the book, the audience will acknowledge the affliction of
slaves at that time. The reason is Stowe makes use of many strategies such as
rhetorical devices and persuasive elements to reinforce her central claim: it is time
for people to fight against slavery. Symbolization is one of the important rhetorical
devices. Each character in the book stands for a group of citizens in the society.
Tom represents the slaves who are loyal and afraid of rebellion while George and
Eliza stand for brave slaves who are not willing to be controlled by owners.

Tom saves her life. As a result, she asks her father to buy Tom. After which, she
always chats with Uncle Tom, and they talk about Bible. She persuades Topsy, one
of the slaves, that everyone can enjoy a happy life. What s more, she tries to touch
the heart of her stubborn aunt. Unfortunately, Eva passes away because of illness.
From my personal perspective, Eva stands for somebody in the society as well.
Obviously, Eva is only a weak girl with little strength and authority. However, she
notices the evil of slavery and tries to influence the people around her. Nevertheless,
she dies at an extremely young age. Undoubtedly, her tragedy is a kind of irony
which alludes to the difficulty of altering people s opinions about slavery at that
time. Moreover, I consider her experience stands for a group of abolitionists who are
not strong enough to influence the society. Eva s death represents the failures of those

denotes sexual interest in members of one s own anatomic sex and applies to both_
_men and women. Homosexual males are often referred to as gay males and
homosexual females or referred to as lesbians. Gay males and lesbians have existed
throughout history. The historical and scientific perspectives on homosexualityhave
shaped the way gay individuals perceive themselves in various ways. These
perspectives may also be beneficial to heterosexuals understanding of others in our
world of sexual diversity. When looking at historical perspectives, religion and past

The scientific perspective of homosexuality is whether homosexuality is caused by
environmental influences or whether gay individuals are born that way. This question
has been pondered byscientists for decades, but there is strong evidence to support
the idea that homosexuality is an inborn characteristic. Research done on both
identical and fraternal twins, show that there are higher concordance rates of gay
monozygotic twins. Rathus, Nevid, and Fichner Rathus, (2005) report that about
52% of identical (MZ) twin pairs were found to be concordant (in agreement) for a
gay male sexual orientation, compared with 22% of fraternal (DZ) twins and only
11% of adoptive brothers (p. 312). Also, evidence has suggested that hormonal
influences could be responsible for differences in sexual orientation. Rathus, Nevid,
and Fichner Rathus (2005) explain that prenatal sex hormones be responsible for
tissues in the brain to think sexually one way, but for genital development to be the
other way. Also, structural examinations on the brains of heterosexual and
homosexual males have provided speculative evidence that a part of the
hypothalamus in gay males is smaller than that region of the hypothalamus in
heterosexual males. The scientific perspectives have helped many gay people come
to terms with themselves, which has made coming out easier. Before scientific
evidence provided clues that homosexuality could be inborn, many

It s like if you woke up one morning and lost 40 percent of the equity in your house,
Dan Macon, a Northern California sheep rancher, says. California has been in a
severe drought for three years. Macon and other farmers in the state are being
forced to sell their stock and find alternative work to pay the bills on top of taking
care of their once prosperous farms. Not only is the drought affecting the way
these farmers and their families live, but it ll eventually start affecting our food
system as long as the conditions persist. It s time for the whole world to start
making sacrifices in these hard times or there will be difficult times ahead.
Farmers aren t the only ones who should be making the effort to preserve water.
Laws should be put in place that control how much of these natural resources
people are allowed to use per month or per year. Resources should be conserved so
time is bought for scientists to find new solutions to the problem. A 40 percent
increase is expected in water demand over the next two decades. Not only that, but
clean water isn t available to one out of five people in the world. Also, only 1
percent of water on Earth is available for human consumption. Solutions are
evidently needed. Water isn t the only natural resource that isn t looking great. In the
last five years the world consumed 27 billion barrels of oil a year, but the oil industry
only discovers three billion a year. Only one barrel is being replaced for every 9
barrels used.
11. Susan Tannen s Sex, Lies, And Conversation By Deborah...
Men are from Mars, and women are from Venus. A classic analogy describing how
men and women are both born on Earth, but display different characteristics in
communication. While two individuals start off through physical attraction, the way
that a relationship last is through strong communication and the understanding
between both people. Deborah Tannen elaborates on the different methods of how
each sex communicates, and the issues that arise. Causing relationships to become
distressed, due to the opposite gendernot being able to interpret the differences
between maleand femaleexpectations in terms of communicating. In Sex, Lies, and
Conversation by Deborah Tannen, she does a good job in identifying the problems
between how males and females communicate, and the reasons behind it. Going
back as far as our childhood. She explains how as children, we usually play with
kids of the same sex. Thus already creating different social circles, like the many
different tribes in a jungle. Within these groups, male and females communicate and
play in different ways. Males would prefer to create a platonic relationship through
play, with examples of sports or activities. Where as females predominantly prefer to
gossip or discuss topics in a calm setting. Causing different gendered children to
become adaptive to one type of relationship building. As the children grow up, they
are accustomed to the means of segregated communication. (Sex, Lies, and
Conversation, 1990)
12. The Effect Of Communication On The Satisfaction Of A...
Why take another look at communication again? because most studies that have
been done, do the same thing over and over. They use self reports that are coded
themselves or that the research will have the participants code, tons of different
questionnaires that take time for the participants to do, and it is really not relevant
for the new generations. With the studies that have been done, almost half of all
first marriage still end in divorce. It looks like the system that we use to study and
try to help curb this just isn t working, because of the measures that are used it just
speak to the generation anymore. This study is different, it will use a video game as
the measure to study the effects of communication on the satisfaction in a
relationship. The video game doesn t take much time, and time is very important to
this generation that is always on the go. It is also a lot more relevant for this
generation of couples as well. This study will also be looking at specifically
communication in a stressful situation, which the studies have not covered before.
This is important because every couple as arguments and by studying this hopefully it
will curb the amount of arguments in the relationship and help lower the first
marriage divorce rates. There was a study done just recently that looked at whether
communication predicted satisfaction or satisfaction predicted communication? The
study didn t really find whether one predicted the other.(Lavner, et al, 2016, p. 1 15)

14. The Effects Of Black Children On Poverty And The Low...
America is failing its young Black boys (Prager, 2011, p.1). It is a bold statement
about the conditions of Black children in America. This research paper addresses the
low likelihood that poor Black children may overcome poverty because of conditions
such as negative environment, poverty stressors (e.g., crime, violence, health issues),
and parental influence. It is a controversial issue as studies suggest parental behaviors
as well as community and school involvement can help poor Black children out of
poverty, yet other studies suggest stressors such as emotional and health issues or
participating in welfaresystems as a result of poverty will heavily impact if not deter
future success. Despite programs instituted to fight the war on poverty, the issue
remains prevalent and studies, e.g., impact of welfare reform, continue to provide
relevant information on the impact of poverty. The research for this paper focuses on
Black children living in poverty and the low likelihood they will overcome poverty.
The research is valuable because Black and Hispanic children were more than
twice as likely to live in poverty in 2007 as non Hispanic white and Asian children.
(Moore, Redd, Burkhauser, Mbwana Collins, 2009, p. 2). It is absolutely
unacceptable for a country as great as the United States to experience poverty and
extreme poverty in some areas and further for there to be a clear indication that there
is a higher likelihood of children living in poverty based

Tereska s portrait, commissioned by UNICEF, was amongst the series of
photographs intended to document the displaced victims of the Second World
War. Tereska s photograph, in particular, is subject to psychosocial surveillance as
she embodies the war weary youth. The face, unlike any other part of the human
body, takes on depth in its ability to reflect character and express emotions. The
expressivity of Tereska s eyes, so bewildered and devoid of any innocence and joy,
pierces the viewer; caught was the expression of a child who had grown up and

(5). Therefore, in the task of depicting home, a child would naturally construct a
simulacra, a perceived reality, of home shaped by culture and media. However,
under Tereska s circumstances being an orphan during the period of the Holocaust
the orthodox notion of home is subverted. The image emulates the second stage of
Baudrillard s precession of simulacra, in which the image becomes a perversion of
reality; while a false depiction to the audience, suggests the existence of an
obscure reality (3). As she covers the board in erratic scrawls, one can only
postulate an ambience saturated with barbed wire, of rising flames, of chalky
smoke smothering Tereska s sight. Tereska s chaotic rendition is a simulacra of her
personal experiences growing up in a concentration camp; illegible to the average
person, but a tangible reality in which the meaning and significance is tied to the
artist alone. After all, Baudrillard argues that rather than a copy of the real, the
simulacra becomes truth in itself that is, the hyperreal (3). In that sense, opposed to a
vague domestic depiction, Tereska s image is faithful to her harsh experiences of

17. Church Visit Response Essay
Church Visit Response Essay I grew up going to Catholic Church my whole life. I
have completed all my sacraments and attended 11 years of catechism. I am very
comfortable in a Catholic Church and feel very at ease with the atmosphere and
rituals performed in a Catholic church. The only time I have ever stepped foot in a
church that was not Catholic has only been for a wake or a wedding. So when it
comes to experiencing different kinds of cultural and religious practices, I am very
naГЇve. Catholic massis very quiet and serene. We sing the same hymns and keep the
decibels very low. Mass always follows the same pattern and it is very structured.
Although I feel connected to the Catholic Church, I have stopped attending on a
regular basis as I have gotten older. I feel that I have stopped attending because I
would often leave church not feeling fulfilled. I have a friend who has been
inviting to her church for a few years. I took this essay as an opportunity to finally
attend. I visited Celebration Church on Easter Sunday 2016. Given that it was a
special Christian holiday, the church was incredibly crowded. They had numerous
children activities taking place in the parking lot. The church volunteers that helped
me find a parking and greeted me as I walked through the door were extremely
friendly. I am not trying to sound cynical, but they were almost too friendly. This was
the first thing I noticed that set this church apart from what I have previously
experienced. In fact

audience is children who are under the age of 13. At first I really never noticed the
portrayal in T.V. programs for kids. I guess I was always the middle child whose
happiness depended on T.V. programs. Arthur, PBS program, showed how perfect a
family can be. Arthur, tells us a lot about children s literature and race. The most
stereotypical family is the father who goes on about his day to day job while the
mother works from home and cares about the kids. Although, I did not realize the
slight twist that my favorite show as a kid had. In addition, another show targeted to
children is Scooby Doo, Where are you! Not to mention, The Jetsons is another

Is one program for kids who displays portrayal. The two main females, Daphne and
Velma, both wear skirts, but that is where their similarities end. In this episode,
Daphne is seen as the delicate yet embodiment female in the show. She has a tiny
waist and skinny arms and legs. Daphne is an attractive character, but represents no
knowledge to her character. Velma, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. She is
slightly overweight with sloppy clothing and with large glasses. In Scooby Doo
and a Mummy Too, Season 1, Episode 12, it is the group s duty to find a mummy
that has gone lose. Freddie is the one who is the direct cause of a conflict
resolution. In fact, he is also the main character who leads group discussions and is
the primary decision maker. He came up with a plan to catch the villain in this case a
mummy. In addition to this, Freddie was also the one who discovered who the
mummy really was. Gender roles are played all throughout the episode.
Now, in The Jetsons, it is typical that all the females were drawn to the same body
shape and type of clothing. All the female characters are portrayed in a very
stereotypical way. Either they are fit or extremely obese and all women regardless
of body shape are shown in pastel colored. In the Jetsons, Season 1 Episode 3

19. Cause And Effect Of Climate Change
Causes and Effects of Climate Change Climate change is one of the most underrated
and controversial, yet serious environmental issues in today s time. Despite what
some may believe, there has been a vast amount of scientific evidence to support that
climate change is occurring and human activity is the main source of it. Many factors
(both anthropogenic and natural) contribute to climate change. However, the main
cause is anthropogenic; greenhouse gasemissions. Three common practices that
release greenhouse gases include the combustion of fossil fuels used in cars, methane
released from landfills, and deforestation.
Out of the abundance of greenhouse gases that can contribute to climate change, the
highest amount comes from carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide emissions result from
the burning of fossil fuels often used in cars. This contributes to the greenhouse
effect which leads to the warming of the Earth. The Earth Science Communications
Team states, A stronger greenhouse effect will warm the oceans and partially melt
glaciers and other ice, increasing sea level. As the ocean s temperatures start to
increase, populations of organisms that inhabit them will begin to decrease.
Increased sea levels can lead to serious problems as well, such as destroyed homes
and businesses, ruined crops and vegetation, contaminated water, and the deaths of
people and animals. However, there are certain cases where carbon dioxide
emissions can be beneficial. They can cause plants to grow

Borden wrote in his diary, Our first duty is to win, at any cost, the coming election
in order that we may continue to do our part in winning the War and that Canada
not be disgraced. (Cook, 2011, p.14). Borden was true to his word. During the
summer of 1917 he presented two new acts that would assure his party victory.
First Borden presented the Military Voters Act which allowed soldiers over seas to
vote in elections. Second the War Times Election Act, gave women who were of
close family relation to a man serving in the forces, the right to vote but revoked
the right to vote from citizens who were immigrants from enemy countries. (Cook,
2011, p.15) Borden presenting these acts would allow pro military citizens to vote
was strategic. The Liberals were very upset by Borden s crafty political sabotage
of their chances of winning the election. In the Khaki election, Borden s Unionists
won the most seats across Canada except in Quebec. The Unionists won the
majority of seats in Ontario and the West. The Unionists only had three seats in
Quebec. The Unionists won the election with a total of 153 seats across Canada.
The Maritimes were split with the Liberals, but the Liberals had eighty two across
Canada and sixty two from Quebec (Cook, 2011 p.18). Borden s acts and bills had
achieved their desired effect. English speaking women had been the leading cause
for the Unionists win (Cook, 2011 p.19). It is hard to argue against helping soldiers

21. Artist Music Should Be Used For Advertising
Music is all around us. Do u think the artists music should be used for advertising?
Did you know that according to data journalist David, McCandless, a signed solo
artist would need about 5,478 iTunes downloads of a song per month versus
4,200,000 YouTube streams per month just to make the U.S. minimum wage. Back
in time our parents bought records, CDs and cassette players and some of them
still do. I m going to tell you why I oppose that artists should be used for
advertising. Technology has changed and it will keep on getting more advanced
but the only problem is that every person will have probably about 5% of common
sense. Do you guys now the meaning of advertising? Advertising is instrumental to
the success of businesses. If no one knows that the business exists or they have no
idea what products or services are offered, how will they get customers? People
love music. But do this people know that the people producing or making this music
do get paid much. Here s an example, In November of 2014, award winning... Show

It s clear that for artists big or small, trying to maintain credibility while struggling
to sustain a career is certainly tricky. Artists must develop an image that appeals to
their fans in order to remain unique and authentic, or they risk striking the wrong
chord, which could leave them struggling to sustain careers in this new business
landscape. I was thinks about getting into the music career like singing but it takes
a lot of deification and sacrifice becuase you have no time for school you have now
time for yourself and also everybody wants to be in your business if you start

build their careers, as they need to spend energy creating good music and a unique

22. Romeo and Juliet
A constant theme of infatuation progressively is displayed throughout Romeo and
Juliet, starting with an innocent desire for true love, and ending in death. Romeo and
Juliet are the main characters that display the obsession through dialogue. The first
sign of infatuation began with Romeo. He claimed, love, whose view is muffled still,
should without eyes, see pathways to his will (Shakespeare 20). Romeo is obsessed
with the idea of love, and is convinced that love controls you. He ends up getting
confused and makes statements about how love is heavy and light , bright and dark ,
hot and cold, (Shakespeare 20). These oxymoronic assertions show that Romeo is
infatuated with the idea of love, even though he hasn t even really... Show more

Although it could be denied that he genuinely cares for her throughout the play,
this soliloquy allows the audience to realize that he truly does care. He spreads
flowers along Juliet s grave and says, Sweet flower, with flowers thy bridal bed I
strew! (Shakespeare 260). Considering that he is alone and performing this
soliloquy, the audience can see that Paris had veritable affection for Juliet. Again
in act 5, Romeo provides a soliloquy that enables him to express his innermost
feelings towards Juliet. Romeo finds Juliet who is presumably dead, and says, O
my love, my wife! Death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath, Hath had no
power to yet upon they beauty (Shakespeare 268). Although Romeo is with Juliet,
it is still considered a soliloquy because she is dead . This speech lets the audience
know Romeo s deepest feelings before he kills himself, and sets a closure to his part
of the plot.
Romeo, Juliet, and the Friar constantly make rash and hasty decisions that lead to
the tragic ending of the play. One of the first foolish decisions that was made was
by all 3 characters Romeo, Juliet, and the friar when Romeo and Juliet decided to
get married. Romeo discusses how he imagined happiness unfolding once they wed.
Juliet agrees, as well as the friar. The friar, who should be the wisest, approves and
says, ...come, come with me, and we will make short work.... till holy church

23. The Parthenon Sculptures
The British Government have an obligation to give back the Parthenon Sculptures in
the British Museum back to the Greek government. This is due to the importance the
Statues have in Greek Culture, the importance of having the Acropolis once again
united, and the high level of evidence supporting the claim that the British stole the
statues. This essay will aim to explain each of these points, a well as the British
Rebuttals. Not only this, but a recount will be made on the attempt made by myself
and a classmate as we attempted to replicate this debate and negotiate for a peaceful
outcome.
Since 1983, after the transition from Post Civil War Greece to the Modern Day
Democratic Greece, the Greek Government has demanded the return of its ancient
Parthenon Sculptures from the British Museum in London. After Greece regained its
independence and government, it has demanded for the stolen statues to be returned
to Greece so they can be united with the rest of the Parthenon and the Acropolis. Not
only this, but the Greeks put the legality of the British s taking of the statues under
question, stating it was through secrecy and conspiracy this was achieved. The
British argue that under law, they legally bought the statues from the Ottomans (The
then rulers of Greece) in 1811 with Lord Elgin. Not only this, but they state that they
wish to preserve the statues in London, to showcase to the world mankind s greatest
achievements. While both sides offer valid and tenacious arguments,

On March 13th, 2016, the city of Toronto held its annual 29th St. Patrick s Day
Parade, in the heart of the downtown core. The Toronto St. Patrick s Day Parade is
one of the most top celebrations in North America. This event celebrates the Irish
community and the diverse culture that contributed to Toronto, with various pipe

noon and started at Bloor and St. George heading east along Bloor Street, and

This was easily seen in the St. Patrick s Day parade, where people were getting
pushed around in the crowd, which led to one incident of an female individual
unable to breath and the paramedics being called. Jaguaribe (2013) proposed that
during carnival time, social signs are inverted; the poor were decked out in
glorious finery, men were clothed as women, impoverished black men and women
were transformed into baroque courtiers of the French Court, family men shed
their inhibitions, and housewives revelled in insinuating costumes (Jaguaribe,
2013). I agree with Jaguaribe s argument in terms of blacks dressing up someone
else, this can be seen in the St. Patrick s Day parade, where people from various
ethnic backgrounds were participating in the parade itself, dressed up as
Leprechauns and other various costumes. However, in relation to the St. Patrick s
Day parade, I argue that the social relations were actually enhanced. In order to
participate in the parade, you had to apply beforehand with a fee, which may have
prevented homeless people or others from participating due to the regulations on
holding a parade in Toronto.

26. C Average For Student Athletes
Primarily, a C average should not be required for student athletes to play sports on a
school team because it discourages many students. A student may be born to be an
athlete, but can be struggling to keep up academically in school. If a student is
rejected from playing the sport they love because of their other struggles, this will
discourage them. This can hurt a student. For example, a student may reject a
challenging, but interesting class in fear of getting a bad grade. **Opponents of this
argument may say that forcing students to have a C average will encourage them to
do well in school.** In reality, a student will be dejected enough to drop out of
school. In other words, some students may give up completely, rather than trying
27. The Blue Cross Sparknotes
The Blue Cross by G.K. Chesterton demonstrated how two people with opposing
beliefs can use different types of inductive logic, while either applying or avoiding
particular fallacies, to aid each other in coming to a unified conclusion. In doing so,
each of these people s own distinct quirky traits and respective personalities became
increasingly evident.
Father Brown appealed to inductive logic through induction from authority in order to
conclude that God would probably lead Flambeau to justice and have an opportunity
to save his soul. Although the premises supporting this inductive logic were not
explicitly stated in The Blue Cross , Father Brown s faith in the probability this
conclusion being drawn, was attained by his faith in God, the Bible, education in
seminary, and experience as a priest. In fact, it was Father ... Show more content on

very strong distaste for women. As it appeared, these aversions that both Valentin

Scandal in Bohemia ended up praising a woman for realizing his scheme and
altering his intended conclusion. After reading a letter written by Miss Adler,
Holmes exclaimed What a woman oh, what a woman! (Doyle 13). Similarly, in The
Blue Cross , Valentin ended up praising Father Brown, a priest, because Aristide
Valentin realized that the premises that lead to the conclusion were made possible
by Father Brown. In the end, Aristide Valentin told Flambeau Let us both bow to our
master (Chesterton 15) which demonstrated how his initial pity for this priest was

two people with odd idiosyncrasies can work together to create a constructive

28. Explain Edward Thorndike Theory Of Behaviourism
A COMPREHENSIVE INTRODUCTION
Children learn through encouragement and praise rather than punishment.
Edward Thorndike s Law of Effect states:
Behaviour that is followed by pleasant consequences is like to occur again and any
behaviour that is followed by unpleasant consequences is likely to stop occurring.
Edward Thorndike was a Beaviourist and worked on his theory that lead to the
development of Operant Conditioning within Behaviourism. Operant Conditioning
involves learning from the consequences of our Behaviour.
Thorndike s theory simply means to achieve good behaviour and learning one must
first present a form of encouragement and not punishment in order to achieve this
goal. There are several different types of Operant Conditioning. The one that explains
clearly what his theory states is the Token Economy. The Token Economy is a form...

As teachers, we should try our best to befriend our pupils so as to enhance learning
and to show results that what was taught was taken in and processed. Teachers
should encourage pupils and be like a second parent to their pupils so as to foster
learning in and outside a classroom. Teachers need to show encouragement or give
them small tokens or praises so they can break the fear barrier and pupils show
positive behaviour towards the teacher and learning. In any science class, teachers
should encourage pupils to love science and show them how fun science can be.
One major fact of why pupils see science as a burden is the amount of reading and
writing of work to do and study. Teachers now need to make it clear to pupils that
science is fun. What do this mean? They need to create more fun in class and out of
class science related activities so pupils learn without even thinking that leaning is
taking place. This way it is fun and more memorable than normal ways of learning.
Science is fun! And this way pupils will love
29. Theme Of Class Distinctions In The Great Gatsby
Is there such a perfect life? Is one able to attain goals and dreams through
transparent boundaries? The 1920 s, a time of striking social and political changes,
was marked by further economic prosperity with social divisions in wealth. In
addition, more and more Americans transcended into a consumer society ; a nation
founded on the idea of wealth. In Fitzgerald s novel, The Great Gatsby, the existence
of class distinctions are defining factors in preventing Jay Gatsbyfrom living a perfect
life. Following World War I, the difference in the integrity of those who had money
set the way for a division in society. Due to an increase in the importance of money,
a few individuals remained true to the ways of the past while money morally
blinded those who sought fame and fortune. According to Exploring Novels,
juxtaposing characters from the West and East in America in The Great Gatsby,
Fitzgerald was making some moral observations about the people who lived there.
() Nick Carraway, from his upbringing in the Midwest, is told to just remember that
all the people in this world haven t had the advantages that you ve had...in
consequence, I m inclined to reserve all judgments (Fitzgerald 1) According to
Fitzgerald, areas such as the Midwest had people who were relatively fair and
modest; serving as a home to basic and traditional moral values. Afterall, it is the
West where Nick returns and ideal Gatsby is born. In contrast, the East is divided
into East Egg and West Egg;
30. Wingding Conspiracy Theory Essay
There are many crazy and wacky conspiracy theories that are contrived every day.
Conspiracy theories can be made up by anyone, especially in today s technology
driven society. It all becomes questionable when proof is bought into the matter.
Although they are not always true, people will go out of their way to think up silly
things that may prove it correct. There are loads of theories that are proven to be
false. Carefully dissecting each detail within the theory is the only way to be for sure
whether it is true or false. Among all of the interesting conspiracy theories, are the
sinister messages found in the Wingdingsfont. When NYC is typed in the Wingdings

This point is easily proven true. For example, if someone types the word OLD in
all capital letters in Wingdings font, a flag, a sad face, and a thumbs down hand
gesture will appear. There are endless amounts of things you could say this stands
for. One being, flags are bad and they make you sad. It doesn t make a lot of sense
that the creators of the Wingdings font would take the time to make the letters O,
L, and D, when put together, give that message about flags. Another example that
contradicts Microsoft s supposed hatred toward Jewish people is the word
HAPPY. Again, if HAPPY is typed in capital letters in Wingdings font, a finger
pointing down, a peace sign, two flags and the Star of Davis will appear. This word
has no inside meaning, and if anything, proves that the creators are not against
Jews because the word happy is a positive, and cheerful one. Many people also
have concern about the characters Q 3 3 N Y when typed in the Wingdings font. A
plane, two tower looking objects, a skull and cross bones, and a Star of David will
appear if Q33NY is typed in the font. Q33NY is said to be the flight number or tail
number of one of the planes that crashed into the twin towers. According to

This theory is easily shown to have no validity as none of the aircraft used on that
day bore the designation of Q33 . It is often suggested that Q33 was a reference to a
bus route, typically alleged to be
31. The Rapid Growth of Managed Care Essay
The rapid growth of managed care is the response to limited financial resources
and the demand for healthcare services to be affordable. Economic viability is a
crucial aspect of health care. Managed care plans were developed to provided health
care services, but also to be a method to collect payment for services. There are
different types of managed careplans. For example, health maintenance organization
(HMO), preferred provider organization(PPO), and point of service (POS) plans. For
brevity of this paper the HMO managed care system will be discussed along with the
relevance of the role of the advance practitioner practicing in HMO setting.

Another advantage is HMOs have an authorized formulary that covered the cost of
prescription medications. The down side if a care provider prescribed a medication
that is not authorized then the expense is placed back on to the consumer unless
prior approval is obtained. There are times when a particular medication or specialist
is required and will involve the prescribing person to contact the HMO for
preapproval. Another disadvantage after seeking preapproval the claim may be
denied, but the consumer does have the option to appeal the decision. This does
create a problem when there are time constraints; which is another disadvantage.
What is happening to the premiums? Today s economic times have forced HMOs
to increase premium rates. In the last few years there has been a substantial
increase in premiums. In 1997, an article printed in Business Week reported
although a growing number of consumers are enrolled in a HMO the higher prices
of medical cost has forced HMOs to lay off employees and forced the sell off of
some HMOs. This style of managed care had turned into a commodity business
which is no longer profitable. What did this mean? It meant that HMO are now stuck
competing on prices and battling for market shares.
Consumers were demanding healthcare change because of the rising cost of
premiums. In the markets, rival insurers started to offer nearly identical plans,
32. Taking a Look at the Lynne Deposit
The Lynne deposit lies within the early Proterozoic Penokean fold belt of the
southern province of the Precambrian Shield. The fold belt is divided into two
major terranes in Wisconsin (Sims 1989). The first is the northern Penokean terrane,
which contains major oxide facies iron formations and granitic intrusions
(DeMatties 1989). The second major terrane, separated from the Penokean terrane
by the Niagara fault zone, is the Wisconsin magmatic terrane, characterized by a
volcanic island arc basin assemblage (Sims 1989). This southern terrane lacks major
oxide facies iron formations, but contains abundant tonalite granite intrusions
(DeMatties 1989). The Wisconsin magmatic terrane is further subdivided into the
northern Pembine Wausau terrane and the southern Marshfield terrane, which are
separated by the Eau Pleine shear zone, a north dipping subduction zone (Sims
1989). Sims et al. (1989) synthesized U Pb zircon ages for the Pembine Wausau
terrane. Sims concluded that the volcanic rocks were generated from around 1889
to 1860 Ma as island arcs and closed back arc basins above the south dipping
subduction zone (Niagara fault zone). Granitoid rocks in the terrane, emplaced from
around 1870 to 1760 Ma, are mainly granodiorite and tonalite but include gabbro,
diorite, and granite. These developed as island arcs above the Eau Pleine shear zone.
The Niagara fault zone contains a relict ophiolite, suggesting that the rocks in the
Pembine Wausau terrane probably accumulated on

When most people think about the future they think the human race will make many
advances like flying cars and spaceships. This could be true but another possibility is
that the opposite could happen. In this book H.G. Wells explores that possibility. In
the book The Time Machine t he Time Traveler, who is the protagonist, travels to
year eight hundred and two thousand and finds out that man has not advanced in the
future. He discovers this when he encounters two different types of species, the Eloi
and the Morlocks. He comes up with different ideas about them based on his
encounters with them. Many of his theories are centered about their evolutionas
descendants of the human race. H.G Wells based some of his book on a book by

Wells book The Time Machine was heavily influenced by Charles Darwins book On
the Origin of the Species . The Time Machine expressed Darwin s theory that
humans will continually evolve. This is apparent when the Time Traveler first met
the Eloi and saw how they have not advanced but still changed. Another of Darwin s
theories expressed in the book was natural selection where the Morlocks used their
abilities to catch and kill the Eloi in order to survive. The final theory expressed in
the book reflects the idea that in nature organisms are limited in their ability to
survive based on how their climate changes. Wells showed this when the Morlocks
got so used to living underground that their eyes changed and they couldn t really see
above ground. In this book H.G. Wells illustrates the possible outcomes of Darwin s
theories of evolution and used Darwinism to introduce the possibility that evolution
may not always lead to

35. The Duty of the Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve Act was signed into law on December 23, 1913. Due to a series
of financial panics around 1907, the Federal Reserve (also referred to as the Fed ) was
created by Congress to promote a stable banking system and an active economy. The
Federal Reserves greatest client and biggest spender is the government of the United
States. All proceeds from taxes generated and disbursements are managed through the
account that the United States government has set up with the Federal Reserve. The
Fed operates independently of the government; however, the Feds jurisdiction
originates from Congress and the Fed is subject to congressional supervision.
Furthermore The President nominates the members of the Board of Governors which
must be confirmed by the Senate. The salaries of the Fed are also set and appointed
by the government. Although the Fed can exercise freedom in monetary
determinations, the existing relationship with the government invites corruption
particularly with the present administration and its champagne socialists.
Thomas Jefferson in the Debate of the Recharger of the Bank Bill in (1809) warned
that banking systems would decimate America. Regardless of the original premise of
good intentions, whenever any system wields this much power manipulation and
avarice ensue. Many consider the economic approach of our forefathers as too

Stage 3 is where the factories are industrialized and there is low birth and low death

from infectious disease rapidly, because lack of access to medication and vaccine.
Children died in the comfort of their home surrounding with family members.
Family members are able to witness death for the first time and the bodies are

late 1900 s majority of older people died from chronic disease at a slower rate,
because there is high advancement in the healthcare and medication systems.
However, older people frequently died in the hospital surrounding with medical

members and the bodies are preserved through embalming at the funeral home.
Family members won t get the opportunity to say their last goodbye before their

While all goods have a general purpose of satisfying the wants and needs of people,
specific types of goods hold specialized places within the market and have various
unique components. Network goods are one of these. The value of a network good
increases when more consumers purchase and use them. This is obvious when noting
the definition of network, being a connecting system. The network effectis what
creates the aspects of a network good. The network effect refers to the fact that the
more people use something, the more value it has. There are four main types of

As cell phones become more popular in general within the market, for example,
your own cell phone becomes more valuable now that its utility has grow. The
actual value that these goods have for the customers can be split into two parts. One
component is the value propagated by the product without taking the number of
users into account. The second part, is the value that comes from being able to
interact with other users because of the product. The prospect that networks are able
to compete with each other implies a consideration about intellectual property law.
Where one standard is owned and another is not, the unowned side is unlikely to
succeed for obvious reasons. Most of the time, the monopoly will be the owner while
the substitute networks will not. Even though it is not for sure that inferior standards
win against superior standards, this may be mostly because most standards are
supported by companies who have some kind of ownership. A classic example of this
would be the telephone with both local and long distance capabilities. The company
AT T was the legal monopolist according to Alexander Graham Bell s patent of the
device in 1876. When the patent expired, AT T was still the long distance telephone
monopolist due to the procurement of other patents. Because of this, AT T was the
monopolist into the 20th century

African Americans all willing and able to attend any institution, it is difficult now
to envision a world where, because of one s skin color, a person is denied

Once news spread that James Meredith, an African Americanmale, applied, rage
broke loose specifically in one major figurehead: Governor Ross R. Barnett ( Barnett
1). After a resistant uproar against James Meredith, the battle moved to the court
system. After numerous court dates and appearances, the judge decided that [t]he
university was under a Federal Court order to admit the Negro, James H. Meredith
(1). However, Governor Barnett refused to allow African Americans into any
Mississippi state institution. With an idea called interposition, he also furiously
commented that he would not abide to the national court system s demands unless
the state legislature told them to enact such policies. Knowing that his own state
legislature would not besiege him, Governor Barnett confidently took a stance against
integration by publicly stating, No school will be integrated in Mississippi while I
am your Governor (2). However, after Federal District Judge Sidney C. Mize charged
and convicted numerous resistors, including Lieutenant Governor Paul B. Johnson,
of civil contempt of Federal court, their attitudes changed slightly, but not much

39. General Biography Of Carl Gustav Jung
General Biography Carl Gustav Jung was born on July 26, 1875 in Kesswil,
Switzerland, to the parents of Paul Achilles Jung and Emile Preiswerk. His father
was a rural pastor while his mother suffered from depression and claimed to see
spirits at night. This strained Jung s relationship with her and therefore shaped his
attitude toward women in general. Carl Jungwas the youngest of four children, but
he was the only one who survived. He suffered from multiple personality disorder,
and was a very sad, lonely, and isolated child. In 1895, Carl Jung enrolled to the
University of Basel to study science and medicine. He graduated in 1900 with a
medical degree. He then did an internship under Eugen Bleuler at the Burgholzli
Psychiatric clinic in Zurich. Jung studied the unconscious mind during this
internship. In 1902, he received his Ph.D. at the University of Zurich with a doctoral
dissertation On the Psychology and Pathology of So Called Occult Phenomena
(Cowgil, 1997). Carl Jung married Emma Rauschenberg in 1903 and they had four
daughters and one son together. He did not give any affection to his children and
they were not allowed to hug or kiss him, they were only allowed to shake hands
(Schultz Schultz, 2016). Carl Jung was not faithful to his wife Emma Rauschenberg
because he had multiple affairs throughout their marriage.
They welcomed their first daughter, Agathe, into the world on December 28, 1904.
Jung was then offered a faculty job for psychiatry at the University of Zurich in
1905. He had read, The Interpretation of Dreams, written by Sigmund Freud and
enjoyed his work so much that he began to write him letters in 1906. One year later

40. ICD-10-CM Transition Analysis
I think transitioning over to ICD 10 CM will make coding easier by being more
specific with the descriptions. I think that the biggest challenge is going to be just
learning the different sections of the ICD 10 CM. Some other challenges may
include training in ICD 10 CM, the cost of the transition, and maintaining two
coding systems because some private insurance like workman compensation
insurance are not required to switch over to ICD 10 CM. I believe that we have
had ICD 9 since 1979 with updates yearly, which makes the ICD 9 over twenty
years and almost thirty years old. A lot has changed in the medical world since then
and we are due for a change. Anything new will take some time to learn and I believe
that the transition would be

Tragedy and the Common Man Questions
1. Why is the common man as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings
were ?
Tragedy once belonged to the kings and the high bred class, because tragedy centers
on the awareness of disparity between self image and the perception the world has of
you. In archaic times, only kings could retain this sense of nobility. But now nobility
belongs to every man. Revolutions provide proof enough, that the common man
maintains a sense of indignation in the face of having their dignity stolen, and so the
common man can experience tragedy as much as the kings can.

5. What shakes us, the viewers as we watch or read a tragedy?
Tragedy shakes the audience by tapping into their own private fears. An undeniable
connection drawn by empathy links every audience member to the plight of the
character, because the itch of indignation is universal among all humanity. As long
as someone has a sense of self, they have a sense of dignity. The character in a
tragedy has been wronged by some flaw , and there is a fear of never correcting that
wrong. Every audience member experiences that fear, and so is shaken by the tragedy.

6. Given Miller s earlier definition of tragedy, what is illuminated by the tragic figure
s destruction? What comments does Miller make about the condition of life and the
wrong ? How does he mean each of these terms?
The tragic figure is destroyed by the suppression of his own creative instinct. The
wrong is lack of freedom inflicted on a character, and there can be no dignity
without freedom to express your own individual self. Destruction enlightens the
reader to what the suppression is, what robs the character of their freedom. In a
certain sense, tragedy is heroism for the sacrifice it makes for personal knowledge.
7. How does the tragic figure, especially if he is a common man, gain size ?

42. The Nursing Practice Of Nursing
Nursing is a highly promising profession, yet healthcare institutions are having
difficulty filling nursing positions. The nursing profession has evolved since its
inception in the 1800 s. Today, various healthcare facilities employ the
professionals to assist with patient care. The nursing practice is now a well paying
profession. Despite this, America s healthcare needs are creating a nursing
shortage. Additionally, nurses who seek more challenges in the workplace are
taking on roles as advanced nurse practitioners as the United States healthcare
system seeks alternatives to satisfy the nation s doctor shortage. In the Beginning
Nursing has evolved in status and scope since its inception. 1 Florence Nightingale
the mother of modern nursing gave birth to the field with her work during the late
1800 s through the early 1900 s. 2 Nightingale entered the healthcare field at a time
when the public viewed hospitals as a place for hospice rather than healing, and
society s female exiles filled the nursing pools. Today, the public views nurses as
honored professionals and citizens depend on healthcare institutions to help them
recover from many illnesses. Although women still dominate the nursing field,
public perception that nursing is solely a woman s profession is fading away.
Nursing Career Overview The modern nurse works in many settings. 1 Hospitals,
private practice offices, in home nursing services and special healthcare facilities all
employ professional nurses
43. Similarities Between The Ultimate Gift, And Grace...
Unconditional is the remarkably true story about the power of faith, love and hope.
Directed by Brent McCorkle, the story explores the lives of two best friends
Samantha Crawford and Joe Bradford who grow up together in a farm town in
Nashville Tennessee but later grow apart. The film portrays Samantha s characteras a
happily married woman living on the ranch with her beloved horse telling and
illustrating the stories she had told since childhood. However, when her world falls
apart following the death of her husband, she loses her faith and will to live and
decides taking matters into her own hands, but encounters a death defying encounter
with two children that changes her life. Within a moment of time she develops a new
friendship with the children that later leads to the unexpected reunion with Joe, her
oldest childhood friend.
Every film belongs to a film genre and it s this genre that leads the viewer to having
certain expectations of what he or she will see. Unconditional belongs to the film

interactions and heightened emotions. Often when the film is directed well, the

Unconditional presented many similar features and ideas to the films, The Ultimate
Gift, Grace Unplugged and Kings Faith. All three films explored the journey of the
characters and allowed the audience to relate and empathize with them. The films
had a lot of focus on the normal everyday characters who were dealing with
problems (Joe and Samantha) and suggested that when we don t underestimate the
power of friendship we find that in difficult times we realize the impact that our
friends have on our lives and the lives of many. This causes us to begin opening our

44. FaпїЅade Of St Gervais
Description of the Façade of St. Gervais St. Protais The façade of St. Gervais
designed by early 17th century French architect Salomon de Brosse (1571 1626)
was built in 1616, with the young king Louis XIII laying the first cornerstone.
Different from the Flamboyant Gothic of the interior, the façade is regarded as the
French form of the Roman Baroque style, which introduced the completely new
classical style to 17th century French architecture. The façade attaching to the
existing Flamboyant Gothic church is a symmetrical, three storey structure that has
traditional three bays on first two levels and remains the central bay on the top
level. The most proximate stylistic reference for this façade may be de l Orme s
frontispiece of the ChГўteau of Anet. Instead of using unnecessary ornaments, the
façade underlines the characteristics of classicism in balance, mass and clarity by
creatively using classical architectural language. Three storeys are used to cover the
Gothic church behind rather than the typical two storey church façade. In this way,
the classical dimension and proportion are maintained since the projecting Gothic
aisles and buttresses make the whole visual composition much wider. Therefore the
façade is increased in height to balance the horizontal dimension. St. Gervais is
regarded as a leading work of proportion and dignity from Baroque to classical
architecture. The most dominant classical vocabulary of orders is applied to the
façade: from

This report is about different types of database and explaining the advantages and
disadvantages of network databases and object databases.
TYPES OF DATABASE
Databases store digital data, it also manages the data that is stored, because of this it
also an information manager.
Network Database
A network database model allows many records to be linked to the same owner file.
The multiple records and links allow this database type to be very flexible and
accessible.
It is a many to many relationship which means that there multiple relationships
between each files which is what gives it great flexibility and easy access. On the
other hand it is often difficult for first time users, if the database needs to be altered
when it is finished the new information could change the entire database. The World
Wide Web is an example of a network database as different pages are related to each
other.
Object Database
Object databases don t store data they store objects instead. An object is given an
identity so it can be referenced. Objects consist of attributes and methods. Attributes

To me, that meant that having a disorder or delay did not mean one was irrevocably
doomed, it meant that the authentic inner being could be nurtured and encouraged to
bloom, with the right environment.
During my first year at Lasell College, I learned about the effects of early
medication. I specifically remember watching required videos for a developmental
psychology course. The videos were about children who had been on medication for
one year to ten years and highlighted the side effects they were facing. In some cases,
the side effects were permanent. The side effects often required secondary and
tertiary medications to quell the consequential symptoms, such as ticks, from the
original medication. It seemed to me that children under the age of 10 were on
numerous medications that were snowballing into a conglomerate of repercussions
that could last a lifetime. It appeared that this method caused more stress and didn t
give children any space for either natural or therapy guided development.*
I eventually left school at Lasell and continued my college career at the University
of Southern Maine. During my time at USM, I took a creative class, Therapeutic
Touch, along with psychology courses. Therapeutic Touch is a course about energy
work, chakras, and using color and intentions to heal. One of the required books for

Many people think that they are very knowledgeable about the world, but many
people probably have never heard of the African country, Burkina Faso. If you

bottom with a small yellow star in the middle. It is a small landlocked country in the

education. After getting their basic education in Burkina Faso anyone who wants a
higher education must go to France because there are no colleges or universities in
Burkina Faso. The reason they go to France and not some other country is because
that is the country that ruled them before it gained its independence. Many woman

52. Attachment Theory And Its Effect On An Individual
Question One Attachment theory is one way of understanding relationships, and the
effect it has on an individual (Bowlby, 2005). Bowlby theorized that the relationship
established from birth by the primary caregiver is the foundation for the development
of relationship building throughout the life cycle. This relationship instructs the infant
how the environment will respond to crying, hunger, and emotional stimuli (2005).
When the infant obtains a nurturing response to these stimuli the infant will have
secure attachments, and provide a blueprint how the world will respond to their needs
(Pearson, 2010). An unhealthy response (ignoring, yelling, etc.) perpetuates a
negative development or insecure attachment giving the child an inconsistent
understanding of what to expect from their environment (Pearson, 2010). Insecure
attachments, in infants, can perpetuate health problems such as anxiety, depression,
and failure to thrive (Bowlby, 2005). Failure to thrive is observed as a child s lack of
meeting developmental milestones (not eating, sleeping, standing, sitting, smiling,
etc.) (Shah, 2015) As the child develops, the insecure attachment may present itself
as maladaptive behaviors. Maladaptive behaviors are described as a way a person
adjusts to their environment in an attempt to escape an uncomfortable situation
(NAMI, 2015). They are often referred to as coping strategies; they can be negative
or positive (NAMI, 2015). In a child experiencing attachment deficiencies,

Even though there are also many advantages of a sole proprietorship, there are
other alternative forms of business organizations that I would recommend, such as
a general partnership. A general partnership is a form of business organization that
comes into existence when two or more persons carry on business together with a
view to a profit. In order to form a general partnership, a series of criteria must be
met and understood such as; the partnership must register its name and obtain a
business license, a partner cannot be employed by the partnership, all benefits of the
partnership business must be received by the partners directly, all partners are
personally liable for all the obligations of the business. There are many reasons why
I would recommend a general partnership for Stan, rather than a sole proprietorship.
The first reason is because there is an option of a limited liability partnership, which
means that individual partners are not personally liable for the professional
negligence of their partners and some other obligations if certain requirements are
met. Another reason why I would recommend a general partnership is because the
partner legislation in each jurisdiction provides default rules, which is a kind of
standard form agreement for the internal organization of a partnership that applies
unless the partners agree to some other arrangement. These default rules limit
disagreement
56. Case Study Of Porter s Diamond
Topic: Does Porter s Diamond concept convincingly explain the achievements of
major national business systems, or are their weaknesses, theoretically and
empirically, in his arguments?
There exist classical theories of international trade which discuss the reasons why
particular industries and particular economies are more competitive than the rest. In
his book The Competitive Advantage of Nations, Michael E Porter argued or
analyzed the broad factors which determined the competitiveness of certain economies
and industries. This model is based on four nation s specific factors and two external
variables. The four cornerstones of the diamond model are the factor conditions, the
demand conditions, the related and supporting industries and ... Show more content

It is interesting to note that nestles 95% percent of its revenue is earned outside its
home based of Switzerland.
Rugman s analysis resulted in the double diamond being creative which is a better
tool to analyze the international competitiveness. Rugman s criticism of Porters
diamond appears have to be successful as Porter himself later on admitted that firms
can have multiple home bases. For instance, Mexico s economic future is closely
linked to its neighbor the United States of America and also through North America.
Hence the double diamond proposed by Rugman proves to be more effective in
determining Mexico s success/ resurgence in various economic sectors.
One of the four cornerstones of the Porters diamond is the importance of rivalry. In
the year 1993 Lazonick argued that rivalry alone cannot cause firms to innovate. He
was of the opinion that when the firms face too much pressure from competitors, it
may cause the companies to adapt and imitate instead of innovation. For instance
when US firms faced challenges from foreign competitor s cooperation rather than
rivalry became necessary to prevent loss of market share to foreign

For one, St. Ignatius originally founded the Jesuits and Le Moyne College is a
Jesuit school. This represents unity with the eternal community of the faith. Also,
Jesuit values, created by St. Ignatius, are being passed down through generations.
The faith is being preserved and restored throughout generations. The statue depicts
the service St. Ignatius provided to the faith. St. Ignatius is connected to God and
depicts the love God has for people. This is important in cultivating the viewer. The
sense of the Holy Spirit the statue displays reflects on the Christian community. St.
Ignatius is a visual sign of God s love and nurture towards the faith and its people.
God loves by sharing what love is and has. In order to be holy, one must love. Being
holy depicts on the fulfillment a person receives through the faith. God is
everywhere in aspects of everyday life and the statue of St. Ignatius is a symbol of
God s presence. I believe the statue speaks to both non Christians and Christian. The
statue depicts gratitude a non Christian should feel, for St. Ignatius founded schools,
like Le Moyne College. Therefore, St. Ignatius promotes a person s education and
opportunities in life, whether a person is a Christian or not. Likewise, the lasting
relationships within a college community is promoted through St. Ignatius. He
influenced the core values that a person accumulates throughout a Jesuit college, and
with continue to acquire after college. As one can see, the statue is a visible sign of
Christianity that cultivates its viewer, whether the person is Christian or
