1. Essay On Napoleon Bonaparte
Crafting an essay on Napoleon Bonaparte can be a formidable task, laden with the weight of
historical intricacies and multifaceted dimensions of the subject. The complexity arises from the
need to delve into Napoleon's life, analyzing his military campaigns, political strategies, and the
profound impact he had on European history.
To create a comprehensive essay, one must navigate through the vast array of historical
documents, conflicting perspectives, and interpretive challenges that surround Napoleon's legacy.
The challenge lies in presenting a balanced narrative that captures both the brilliance of his
military tactics and the controversies surrounding his rule, such as the Napoleonic Code and the
consequences of his ambitious expansionism.
Moreover, the essay demands a nuanced understanding of the socio-political landscape of 18th
and 19th-century Europe, placing Napoleon within the context of revolutionary fervor, the rise of
nationalism, and the dynamics of power during that era. It's essential to address the complexities
of his character, examining both the visionary leader and the autocratic ruler.
The difficulty further intensifies in structuring the essay to maintain a logical flow while
exploring various facets of Napoleon's life. Striking a balance between historical analysis and
personal interpretation requires finesse, as does presenting a thesis that is both insightful and
supported by credible sources.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on Napoleon Bonaparte involves a meticulous exploration of
historical nuances, a thorough understanding of the era, and a skillful synthesis of information.
Despite the challenges, the endeavor promises a rewarding exploration of one of history's most
intriguing figures.

2. Compare And Contrast Sixteen Candles And Ferris Bueller

1.After viewing both Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller s Day Off I would have
to choose Sixteen Candles to be my favorite of the two. My reasoning is because I
feel the storyline and characters were developed better, allowing the audience to
feel a greater connection with the film. When comparing the two films, Sixteen
Candles comes across as more angst driven, with a strong female lead. Ferris Bueller
s Day Off has an obvious strong male lead character, with more humor obvious
throughout the film. The overall tone of Sixteen Candles is less upbeat than Ferris
Bueller. As the main character Samantha is struggling throughout the film with the
acceptance of her family forgetting her birthday, Ferris Bueller has no care in the
world and refuses to be defeated. The relationships in Ferris Bueller s Day Off are
mainly friend to friend and student to authority. Sixteen Candles depicts a more
romantic aspect, with a love story being the main focus throughout.
2.Out of both of these films the one I find that strays mostly from John Hughes other
teenage films in Ferris Bueller s Day Off. Sixteen Candles, I found to be fitting
with the other films because it has a strong female lead, teen angst, and a major
love story component. For example, Samantha and Jake at the end of the film
kissing in the candle light. A dramatic end scene kiss has been depicted in Pretty in
Pink as well. Ferris Bueller s Day Off on the other hand, is something unlike any
other John Hughes film. It is witty, and fast paced, not focusing on teen angst or
romance in any aspect. There are no love triangles, or finding out whether two
main characters will end up together. It takes another point of view from teenagers
about being young and enjoying life before it catches up with you. Ferris Bueller s
Day Off also a strong theme of relationships with authority figures, which we only
see in the other John Hughes film, The Breakfast Club. An example of this in the
film is between Ferris and Mr. Rooney. There is constant conflict between them, one
example is when Ferris has Cameron prank call Mr. Rooney s office. This shows not
only Ferris disrespect for authority, but Mr. Rooney s disrespect for Ferris.

PLANNING A PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT STRATEGY
IN A SMALL MANUFACTURING COMPANY
The object of this assignment is to produce a two year plan to implement a
programme of integrated performance improvement activities in a small
manufacturing company that employs about 30 people. Metal components are
manufactured, and the factory is arranged around five machines in three cells
according to small, medium and large components. Heat treatment and grinding and
the other major operations, as well as secondary operations.
The following text describes the situation on the factory prior to the implementation
of a performance improvement programme.

If the order had already been made then the setter would have to search the factory
for the product, with no information concerning its location. Once the order had been
located then a dispatch date would be obtained from who ever was working on it at
that stage. This date would then be conveyed back to the customer via the office.
If the order was yet to be made then the setter would be asked to give the best date
possible for that order and be obliged to put the order up next on the machine. In
other words the customer was dictating the priority.
2.3
Prioritising Jobs Effects of Office Staff
A machine setter was typically receiving 1 to 5 progress sheets in a day. If a search
was required to locate the order, this proved to be a very time consuming process. If
the order was yet to be made he had to prioritise his
work accordingly. He would receive progress sheets from all three office staff, each
saying the order in question was of top priority. The office staff may even request the
machine setter cease his present manufacturing batch to commence the order in
question. The promised dates provided by the machine setters were unrealistic and
unachievable. The machine setters tended to tell the customer what they wanted to
hear rather than what was realistic. The machine setter received a confused and
contradicting message from the office staff. His order priorities were based in this
4. Cow Girl Essay
Cowgirl Creamery makes high quality organic and artisanal cheeses. The company
both makes its own and sells other imported and domestic cheeses. Cowgirl
Creamery was established by Sue Conley and Peggy Smith, Peggy and Sue are
devoted to promoting local farmers, artisan cheese makers, and other local businesses.
In the video we could see that the company had a lot of success in the past but at the
present time the company has some problems. The company has concerns with sales,
government regulations, company s rapid growth and wages and benefits are being
frozen. In the meantime cowgirl creamery needs another product strategy to make the
situation better.

This strategy may have its downside like old customers may not be satisfied with
their new pricing strategy. The branding and packaging need a lot of time and the
good reputation does not come so fast, so there may be a sales fall in the short run
and a risk as well. The second strategy is product growth which is finding alternative
market rather than US, and they can enjoy a product growth in satisfying overseas
customers. As the federal government has too many regulations to restrict cheese
product, it is better to find somewhere that has less regulations in the world. For
example, in France there is a long tradition for people to eat fresh cheese. Cowgirl
cheese could choose this kind of market to explore and widen their market. Product
management for a successful product life cycle I think it s a great product strategy
that can be used. Product management is a middle level management function that
can be used to manage a products life cycle and enables a company to take all the
decisions needed during each phase of a product s life cycle. The moment of
introduction and of Withdrawal of a product is defined by the use of product
management. To improve a product success during each of its phase of its life cycle
(development introduction growth maturity decline), a product management must
uphold the following three fundamentals. Understand how product management
works: When responsible for a given new
5. Christian Philosophy Versus Christian Worldview
Introduction
Human perspective differs and leads to diverse worldviews. Several factors
contribute to the creation of worldviews; the environment, experiences and most
importantly the education that a human is exposed to. The question is often asked if
there is such a thing as a write or wrong worldview, since it can consist of religious
beliefs, political connections, and subjective opinions on life, love, family and
friendship. These worldviews create philosophical questions regarding how society
truly functions and different human beliefs. As educators it is critical that we nurture
the Christian mind in order to fulfill the Christian worldview. It is also absolutely

for the faith; that all humans are made in the image of God. It allows for educators
to extend biblical teaching outside of the areas that are not explicitly defined in the
Bible. Furthermore it incorporates faith into learning and impacts society and the
way we live. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of having a sound Biblical
philosophy when it pertains to of education. Christian educators are learning that the
curriculum must be Bible integrated in theory and practice. By this the Bible is to
provide more than theoretical guidance and generalization. It is to be a vital part of
the content of the curriculum and integrated with all subject matter. Christian

concepts in a Christian worldview, but certain thematic elements are common in the
Christian worldview (Ennis, Patricia A., et al). The world view is by no means all

6. Labor Market in Singapore
Introduction
Since Singapore gained its independence in 1965, its economy had progressed due
to globalization, rapid technological advances and the rise of China and India. With
these different stages of development, Singapore s labor market had adapted itself by
transforming from a labor abundant and capital limited city into a labor deficient and
capital rich country (Chia 2005). Singapore is now a popular export manufacturing
base, regional headquarter for foreign multinational company and a financial centre
(Chia 2005). The industrial structure has also progressed from a labor intensive
export manufacturing to a capital and technology intensive manufacturing, which

With the demand for more educated workers, it in turn encouraged the returns to
higher levels of education, resulting an increase in the return to university education
in 2004 as compared to 2001 (Yeo et al. 2007). Therefore the labor structure in
Singapore had evolved into one having a more skilled and multi lingual workforce as
compared to the past.
Aging Population
Singapore has one of the fastest aging populations due to the lack of babies, this
consequently led to the slow down in the growth of Singapore s labor force.
Recent research had also found that Singaporean life expectancy had increase from
61 years old in 1957 to today average life expectancy of 80 years old. In order to
ensure that these senior citizens have enough savings for their old age, the
government in Singapore had encouraged them to stay employed and work longer
(Sprinter 2007). To achieve this, the government planed to legislate re
employment for older workers to work beyond 62 to 67 (Sprinter 2007). With the
support from WDA in helping companies to redesign jobs and give training for
older workers, actions by Tripartite Committee in recommending Employability of
Older Workers and nevertheless the upcoming legislation and incentives provided
by the government, we will be expecting to see more older workers in the workforce
as compare to the past. The result of these efforts had been publicized by NTUC

The terms modern , modernity and modernism are commonly used to specify a
break in history, marking a definition between the present and the past, between the
fashionable and the out of date, and carry as part of their meaning an almost
criticism of tradition. By calling himself a modernist , the artist is instantly free to

It is commonly thought that the Modernist movement was only properly established

Perhaps this idea is more easily understood when in relation to our social plane
today, with it?s emphasis on instant joy and fun morality, which in turn create a
confusion between self realization and basic self gratification. In today?s pop cult
we are imprisoned by a grave contradiction in society. On the one hand, advertising
and marketing have immersed us into a life of compulsive consumption, and we
are led to believe that happiness can easily be paid for at a beauty centre or
purchased in a bottle of aromatic bath salts?on the other, we are also expected to
work day in and day out, in order to keep up the organised business corporations that
make these products, and are wanted to accept delayed self gratification. This
contradiction between expected lifestyles have caused us to become ?straight? during
the day, and ?party animals? during the night, placing a strong contrasting emphasis
on time, between the fear of boredom, and the pressure of deadlines.
This idea of time, closely related with the view of art as both pay and display, are
among the prime factors that constitute the artistic style called ?Kitsch?, which in
turn is one of the most typical products of modernism, because it is in this type of art
that this conflict of modernity is openly confronted. Whilst representing the triumph
of the principle of immediacy (instant access, immediate

Learning is a process of retention of knowledge either by repetition, recitation, and
demonstration. There are multiple theories related with the learning process.
Learning theories explain the complex nature of the interaction of students with their
faculty, the learning environment and the subject matter (Billings Halstead, 2016, p.
211). Every student has different ways that they learn things. Some students are
auditory learners while others will be visual and tactile learners. It is the prime
responsibility of the faculty to provide quality learning experiences for the students.
This purpose of this paper is to develop a course curriculum that accommodates the
different learning styles of the students who are experienced nurses for a leadership
course. Learning Styles For an individual to learn they must be able to interpret the
information effectively. Every student is unique and has different styles of learning.
Faculty must be aware about the differences in learning styles and be able to
accommodate all these in their teachings so that each student will understand and
achieve success (Billings Halstead, 2016). This paper is created in such a way that
all the learning styles are considered and the objectives are formulated in meeting
each needs of the students. In addition to this the learning outcome evaluation is
performed on the basis of each student

engage in any sort of combat, so she decided to disguise herself as a man and enlist

10. Langston Hughes Relationship In Relationships
Relationships, Love, Support, or Dependency?
The relationship between women and men might be complicated for some while
sometimes even a really loving relationship cannot survive if people chose their
personal longing as a priority. Women and men fight in relationships; fight for more
independence, fight to prove their worthiness and keep forgetting that love is not a
fight but a mutual support. Both men and women have strengths and skills that are
important for a relationship and growth. We need to ensure that both partners play an
important role in a relationship so that it can benefit both parties and the relationship.
James Mercer Langston Hughes also was known as Langston Hughes, is an American
writer who was an important figure in the Harlem Renaissance and made the African
American experience the subject of his writings, which ranged from poetry and
plays to novels and newspaper columns. That same year, he received the Witter
Bynner Undergraduate Poetry Award, and he published The Negro Artist and the
Racial Mountain in The Nation, a manifesto in which he called for a confident,
uniquely black literature: We younger Negro artists who create now intend to
express our individual dark skinned selves without fear or shame. By the time
Hughes received his degree in 1929, he had helped launch the influential magazine
Fire!!, in 1926, and he had also published a second collection of poetry, Fine Clothes

life threatening disorders that other illegal substances have. Nor does it have the
same effects as legal substances such as alcohol which is used in excessive
overdose can cause poisoning and at times lives, or life threatening conditions, but
its still considered legal. There has never been an incident in which a person who
smokes marijuana has faced this type of outcome. This is also not a physically
addictive drug. By these findings one can agree with Mcgath s essay again when
he stated Congress needs to acknowledge this constituency exists, and stop
legislating as if marijuana smokers were dangerous people who need to be locked
up. Marijuana smokers are simply average Americans. A much needed use of jail
cell space and proper incarceration charges also brings up the issue on tax payer
money used in order to keep this system going. If marijuana is legalized much
needed tax revenue as well as a great deal of jobs would be available through this
bad economical status. As per Nick Gillespie s argument The U.S Should Implement

12. David Hume s Argument Against Belief in the Existence of...
David Hume was a British empiricist, meaning he believed all knowledge comes
through the senses. He argued against the existence of innate ideas, stating that
humans have knowledge only of things which they directly experience. These claims
have a major impact on his argument against the existence of miracles, and in this
essay I will explain and critically evaluate this argument.
In his discussion Of Miracles in Section X of An Enquiry concerning Human
Understanding, Hume defines a miracle as a violation of the laws of nature and as a
firm and unalterable experience has established these laws 1. Basically a miracle is
something that happens which is contrary to what would happen given the structure
of the universe. He also states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words he is saying that no matter how good or reliable a testimony may be,
it can never as it were on the basis of experience be justified to accept that
testimony over and against what stands as testimony against the miracle
happening. The testimony happens to be the laws of nature themselves. In this
sense it is clear that Hume is giving us a priori argument in Part 1 in that he is
saying that miracles are contrary to reason. However I think it would be easier to
accept this view if Hume had not previously discussed his Induction theory. In
regard that he thought that for example that just because the sun has risen every
day so far, it does not necessarily follow that the sun will rise tomorrow, we have no
rational basis in believing it will. However in regard to miracles he tells us to base
our decisions on past experiences, if it is unlikely it is less likely to be true. So in
that sense we should also be able to say that based on our past experiences the sun
will definitely rise tomorrow? Also if the sun was not to rise, surely that would be a
miracle in the sense that it would be a violation of the laws of nature? And what is
exactly a violation of natural laws? Dorothy Coleman points out past experience
shows that what are at one time considered violations of natural laws are frequently

Chapter 1
1.0.Introduction
Pupils have been absconding accounts lessons for years. Truancy and absenteeism
have been the problem within the school system. This chapter focuses on the
identification of the major causes and effects of truancy and absenteeism in a
research which is being carried out during accounts lessons at Crossdale High School
in Nyanga District.
1.1Statement of the problem
A research into some of the major causes and effects of truancy and absenteeism at
Crossdale High School in Nyanga.
1.2Background of the problem.
More often than not, truancy is the first sign of trouble that indicate that young
person is giving up and losing his/her way. Gary (1997) stipulated that truancy is a
serious problem in many communities, those students who do not attend school
regularly are often taking a step towards lifetime of problems and truancy indicates
that a young person is losing for sight for the demands of life. Low turn up for the
accounts lesson, delinquent behaviour in class, not writing exercises and test among
others are the manifestation of truancy within a classroom setup. Learners at
Crossdale high school do not attend school regularly.
Consequently a lot of teachers are not concerned about the number of pupils who
attend their lessons. Most teachers agreed that there is a problem of truancy and
absenteeism that emanated when they failed to enforce discipline at the school,
monitoring the attendance of pupils to the school and their behaviour at

A Reflection on My Experience of Process Drama
My preconceptions of Drama were that of taking a play and performing it. I
imagined that lines would have to be learned off by heart and rehearsal and
repetition would be vital in carrying out a successful drama lesson. I remember when
I found out that we would be taking drama as a module this semester it provoked
me to think back to my drama experience in primary school. I personally couldn t
remember much from drama in primary school other than nativity plays. I was very
excited to begin drama at the start of this year. I would consider myself to be very

Baldwin says Drama situations may portray real life situations , and because of
this I feel that it is excellent if these situations become realistic as the children will
already have experience with the situation. Drama makes immediate something
that is distant and vice versa Our lecturer said this and it really grasped my
attention and I believe this really signifies just how important it is to discover
empathy through drama. In our workshops conflict and tension were created in or
participation of drama we as students had to resolve this conflict and as a result we
gained experiences on how to resolve this problems in real life, If this was achieved
with children in a drama lesson it would most definitely coincide with the idea of

What is the Difference Between Belt, Screw and Chain Drive Garage Door
Openers Are you considering automating your garage door in Dallas? There are
three standard types of garage door openers to consider. These are: 1. Chain drive
garage door openers As the name suggests, these openers employ the use of a chain
in the opening mechanism of the door. The chain attaches to the metal trolley in a
similar way as a chain on a bicycle. Later models of the chain driven doors get their
power from DC motors. 2. Belt driven openers These models are similar in
operation to the chain driven models. However, a reinforced belt replaces the chain.
This belt pulls and pushes the trolley. Belts used in these doors are made of various

The belt used in this version eliminates any metal on metal contact. This reduces the
amount of sound or vibration associated with the operation of the door. Belt driven
openers however, cost much more than other types of openers. They therefore
require a large investment up front for their purchase and installation. 2. Chain
driven openers These are the most economical choice for garage door openers. They
are also one of the most dependable models available. The main disadvantage of
using chain driven openers is that they produce a lot of noise during the operation of
the door especially if the garage is attached to the rest of the house. Later versions that

these regions. However, manufacturers continue to make improvements on these
19. Guernica By Pablo Picasso And Executions Of Art
When comparing the two art pieces of art, Guernica by Pablo Picasso and
Executions of the Third of May by Goya, you may interpret the underlying meaning
to be the same. However, the era in which these paintings were created are
noticeably different as well as the techniques. The history in which these two works
were created is intriguing. The implicit and explicit similarities and differences
between these two historical pieces are astonishing. Guernica , which was created in
1937 was Picasso s reaction to the bombing of a Spanish city that the name of the
work derived its name from. During the Spanish Civil War, Germany had supported
the Nationalists side and provided them with weapons and other supplies, so when

a woman on her knees, examining the skies as if she is expecting another bomb to
fall from the sky. It is evident that her right leg is already injured. Violence and
anguish is displayed in this famous piece of art.
Francisco Goya was a Spanish Romanticist painter who was born 1746 and died in
1828. Although he was born near Saragossa, he was living in Madrid when he
painted Executions of the Third of May . The famous painting refers to 1807 when
Napoleon Bonaparte wanted to make an alliance with King Charles IV in order to
conquer Portugal, but his true plan was to take over Madrid. When the French
troops stormed Madrid, Napoleon claimed that they were just passing through, but
when they began taking over, king Charles IV soon realized the alliance was a
hoax. Soon after Napoleon s brother, Joseph Bonaparte became the new king of
Spain. The siege lasted three days and on the second day a rebellion broke out and
on the third day, the rebels were slaughtered. It is said that Goya himself witnessed
the murders from atop the hill of Principe Pio and once the massacre had ended he
began making sketches of the bodies under his lantern. Although the story is not
proven, it is clear that it affected him greatly.

20. The Cost Of Capital Punishment
Across the country, police are being laid off, prisoners are being released early, the
courts are clogged, and crime continues to rise. The economic recession has caused
cutbacks in the backbone of the criminal justice system. In Florida, the budget
crisis resulted in the early release of 3,000 prisoners. In Texas, prisoners are
serving only 20% of their time and rearrests are common. Georgia is laying off 900
correctional personnel and New Jersey has had to dismiss 500 police officers. Yet
these same states, and many others like them, are pouring millions of dollars into the
death penalty with no resultant reduction in crime.
The exorbitant costs of capital punishment are actually making America less safe
because badly needed financial and legal resources are being diverted from effective
crime fighting strategies. Before the Los Angeles riots, for example, California had
little money for innovations like community policing, but was managing to spend an
extra $90 million per year on capital punishment. Texas, with over 300 people on
death row, is spending an estimated $2.3 million per case, but its murder rate remains
one of the highest in the country.
The death penalty is escaping the decisive cost benefit analysis to which every other
program is being put in times of austerity. Rather than being posed as a single, but
costly, alternative in a spectrum of approaches to crime, the death penalty operates at
the extremes of political rhetoric. Candidates use the death

22. The Best Graduate School For Me
Introduction
As a junior at Iowa State University pursuing a B.S. degree in Animal Ecology with
an emphasis in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, it is time for me to look into my
future. I have considered going right into employment, but I think that getting a
Master of Science degree is more beneficial to me. Most companies require Fish
Biologists to have an M.S. degree and eventually that s what I would like to be. In
this report I discuss, analyze, and choose the best graduate school for me based on the
final score of criteria ratings per three graduate schools of my choice. The purpose
of this analysis, is to analyze three companies and evaluate them based on my goals
and preferences, to determine which one will be best for me. The graduate schools I
chose for this analysis are the State University of New York, Graduate Schoolof
Clemson, and Warner Collegeof Natural Resources at Colorado State University. I
chose these schools because they offer my program of study for a M.S. degree in a
field that relates to my B.S. degree from Iowa State University. Likewise, these are
schools I have considered after speaking with my academic advisor from Iowa State
University.
Evaluation Criteria
Before I chose a graduate school, I determined what my criteria is. My criteria is
the location of the school, tuition cost, and graduation rate. For location, I want to
be as close to family and friends as possible as they are important to me. With them
being closer, I am able to
23. Enlightenment And The Enlightenment Movement
What cultured such an immense need for reform in France between 1690 C.E. and
1789 C.E.? Geo. H. Lewis argues in his DeFOREST ORATION. CAUSES OF THE
FRENCH REVOLUTION that the extremely high and constricting taxes
implemented in France, the conflicts between the nobility and the working class, and
the uncooperativeness of the King created a sense of urgency for the general
population of France(Lewis, pg. 51 52). Louis Gottschalk attributes this reform to the
revolutionary ideas which were formulated by Rousseau during the Enlightenment
movement. The Enlightenment movement in France was a product of the Scientific
Revolution, a period in which there were new developments in politics, religion, and

51 52). The taxes strangled the working class, the privileges of the nobles exempted
them from conscription into the military, and King Louis XVI s inability to perform
led to an intense feeling of hatred for the King and the nobility. Lewis reveals the
weight of taxation as a strangling force which did not allow for lower class people to
support themselves properly (Lewis, pg. 52). Thus, this created an immense amount
of discontent which aided in starting the French Revolution. Upper classmen were
exempt from such taxes and could avoid mandatory military service which forced
more lower classmen into the military to replace the positions which would have
been filled in by the upper classmen (Lewis, pg. 52). With the impending taxes and
drafting of lower classmen into the military, this further improved conditions for a
revolution. To add to all this dissatisfaction, King Louis XVI called an army to
quell the National Assembly which created a sense of fear as people believed he
would disband the assembly, halting all the progress made in promoting the
wellbeing of the Frenchmen (McKay, pg. 663). These events seem to have been a
plausible cause for the French Revolution, however, these events did not provide the

24. Blindness In The Country Of The Blind
The society questions why it is so challenging to communicate with foreigners. The
Country of the Blind is a short story first published in 1904 by H.G. Wells. He is
well known for his science fiction novels. This short story is focusing on sight and
blindness and brings up the theme of prejudice versus learning. In the novel we
follow a traveller, who ends up in an unfamiliar strange place, which set him in
learning trail, figuring out who he really is. How does the writer illustrate the
difficulties with foreigners in this short story?
The protagonist Nunez is a mountain climber, who accidentally falls into a valley
inhabited with blind citizens, isolated from the rest of the world. There he falls in
love with a woman from the valley that leaves Nunez back with a difficult
choice. When Nunez first arrives to the valley, he feels he has an advantage in relation
to the other habitants in the valley, remembering an old phrase saying, In the Country
of the Blind the One eyed Man is King. He tries to teach the blind people about sight
and convince them that it is an excessive ability to have. Even though Nunez tries
very hard to persuade the blind citizens, they do not understand, which certainly
makes him frustrated. The blind inhabitants have ... Show more content on

inhabited with blind people, that Nunez with sight randomly bumps into. The fact
that he puts a person, who values the sight so much into a world where it does not

25. Differences Between American Culture And Indian Culture
Culture is the characteristics and knowledge of a particular group of people, defined
by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. The
cultures around the world are very different and very much the alike at the same time.
On the other hand, some similarities also lie between two nations. While the cultureof
America is a mixture of different cultures, the Indian culture is unique and has its
own values. There are many types of differences lies between American culture and
Indian culture in terms of Religions, Languages, Rituals and Cuisines. Religious is a
set of common beliefs and practices generally held by a group of people that is
usually separated by rituals and religious laws. There are so many cultures within
each country. Indiais one of the most religiously diverse country in the world with
one of the most deeply religious societies and cultures. Religionplays a central and
definitive role in the life of many of its people. The religions that originated in the
Indian subcontinents are Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and
Christianity. The most of India s population is Hindu which contributes towards
the 70% of the population. Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world. It
was developed about 5000 years ago. Hinduism is a colorful religion with a lot of
rituals. People who follow this religion believe in a lot of Gods and Goddesses.
About 12% of India s population is Islam. This is a religion which was not
26. Social Movement Theory Framing, Political Opportunities,...
Do the three core concepts of social movement theory framing, political opportunities,
and mobilizing structures provide an adequate account of the emergence of social
movements?
Social movements have been a fundamental part of civilization s freedom. It is the
bridge that takes social grievances to the polity. Without this connection, people
would not be able to express their concerns freely. A social movementis much more
than just spontaneous uprisings with no organization; they are a complex
organization that require detailed analysis to understand where they come from. In
this sense, I would be devoting my time to analyze the different factors that cause
the rise and development of social movements. I will consider a social movement as
organized yet informal social entities that are engaged in extra institutional conflict
that is oriented towards a goal. These goals can be either aimed at a specific and
narrow policy or be more broadly aimed at cultural change (Christiansen, 1, 2009).
Consequently, it would be naГЇve to propose any explanation that relies solely on a
single factor as the reason for the emergence of a social movement. Any meaningful
analysis here has to happen through the understanding of multiple factors (both
endogenous and exogenous), as well as their interaction, which collectively culminate
in any given type of social movement. More importantly, it is key to understand that
every social movement is the product of the previously mentioned

Their mutual love and hatred for one another, and for themselves, provides an
intensely dark comedy that exposes their inner conflicts, their racial bigotry and their
low self esteem, as they struggle to survive in a contrived culture to which neither
will ever really belong.
John Fante s description of Los Angeles during the depression of gaunt faces and lost
humanity is haunting and riveting, as told through the eyes of a young man who is
not altogether stable. The smog, traffic, dust, grime and shallow lifestyles of southern
California were already present in 1939, making this story relevant still today. The
earthquake scene in the story is just as realistic as it might be today, complete with
military intervention and the emergence of human kindness in the face of disaster.
Camilla, Arturo, Sammy, Vera and Hellfrick are all non entities in the bustle of L.A.

28. The Spokane Indian Reservation
Throughout the novel, Alexie addresses the underlying theme of poverty by
highlighting the extreme class differences between the story s two main settings: the
Spokane Indian Reservation and the town of Reardan, Washington. The contrasting
locations of a severely impoverished native American reservation and the upscale
white community surrounding it are key factors in the development of Arnold s
identity; he attempts to escape the toxic culture of depression, alcoholism, and
despair on the reservation by abandoning the poverty of his hometown and attending
a white school which, upon first glance, seems full of optimism and opportunity.
Arnold particularly emphasizes the poverty of the reservation by explicitly
characterizing himself as, ...just... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

their goals, Arnold believes that achieving his dreams might be impossible as
well; this is evident when he states, But we reservation Indians don t get to realize
our dreams. We don t get those chances. Or choices. We re just poor. That s all we
are (Alexie 13). For Arnold, feelings of defeat and hopelessness are part of what
reservation life and being native American means; thus, in order for him to follow his
dreams he must abandon his life on the
29. Misconceptions of Muslim Women
In society, there are some misconceptions about who Muslim women are and the
identity they have. Through hasty generalizations, Muslim women are often
depicted as being only Arab, figures of oppression, and being poles apart with
everyone. Popular media fails to recognize the diversity in this group in terms of race,
ethnicity, nationality, cultural norms, genderrole, education attainment level,
occupation and upbringing. I believe that the intersection of social inequalities in
these identifying components has rendered Muslim women invisible in society.

Ever since graduate school, Barbara McClintock liked to study corn. And this started
at Cornell! Her interest in genetics started with her first undergraduate genetics
course. Her interest earned her a phone call from her genetics professor, Dr.
Hutchison, which invited her to a graduate level genetics course; this call cast the die
for her future she intended to pursue genetics. At that time period, women were not
allowed to major in genetics in graduate school. This did not stop McClintock.
Inspired by a previous cytology course that delved into the structures and behaviors of
chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis, she began working on corn chromosomes.
She eventually developed a technique that allowed her to visually identify each corn

She emphasized that transposition wasn t just about turning corn color genes on
and off, but also possibly a way for the genome to reorganize itself quickly as a
response to environmental conditions. However, most scientists were puzzled and
hostile towards her ideas. Though she eventually gave up trying to convince them
and stopped publishing her data, she didn t let that get her down, because she
knew she was right . But there were geneticists who did appreciate her work. In the
1970s, a molecular basis of transposition was discovered, and the connection
between transposition and antibacterial resistance and cancer was made. Starting
in 1971, McClintock began to receive a long list of awards, including the National
Medal of Science awarded to her by President Nixon, and in 1983, she won the
Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for her work on transposition. Afterwards,
she remained at Cold Spring Harbor and gave talks on her work until her death.
McClintock s work is relevant even nowadays. It was found that a large percentage of
many genomes including that of humans is composed of transposons. Because
transposons can jump around and insert themselves into protein coding sequences,
they could cause cancer. In order for the cells to protect their genomes, recently, small
RNAs called piRNAs were discovered to target histone methylation to transposon
sequences to stop the transposons from moving around. Additionally,

I.Introduction
Virtual Private Network (VPN) comes to my sight by chance due to China s great
firewall blocked my access to Gmail when I stayed in China last summer. To visit the
blocked websites, one of solutions is using VPN technology.
VPN is referred to set up a private network across a public network and usually can
be classified by three types: [1] Remote Access Type, which can establish a
connection between a client outside and a company s internal resources, Extranet
Type, which connects different resources in different networks, and Intranet Type,
which creates a connection between different resources within one network. The
working theory of VPN can be briefly explained by a simple example including
several steps:
Node A in Network I want to communicate to Node B in Network II via public
network.
1. Since A wants to communicate with B, A will generate and send a packet whose
destination IP is B s IP address in Network II.
2. The gateway of Network I gets A s packet and checks its destination IP, if belongs

The Rwandan Genocide obviously started in Rwanda, and was between the Hutu

Tutsi were trying to take it back now. This conflict had been going since 1990 in
the form of a civil war, then in 1994 after the Rwandan president was shot down in
his plane, the government started killing all who opposed them, and therefore, the
genocide started. While the country was very poor at the time, there was not much

The school can hold a school wide assembly informing the students where to get
help and support, how to deal with grieving a crisis in healthy ways instead of
unhealthy ways. The school should inform the students about the entirety of the
event and follow up with what action plans the school has in place to help reassure
the staff and students that they are safe. More routine drills can be put in to place
to keep everyone feeling ready in the event of an emergency as well. The school
may also organize an event to bring more joy back into the school such as a dance
or some fun event that raises everyone s spirits. The school should make sure
students are aware where they can get help and counseling, who to ask for help and
when they should seek help. Talking about the events that took place will help
everyone find closure and peace, they students should not be urged to avoid the
topic or avoid talking about it, it may even be a good idea for the staff to hold
coping exercises in their individual classrooms where students can express their
thoughts in a welcoming environment. Teachers can report the progress back to the
principal to keep everyone informed on the grieving process. Returning to a regular
schedule is important once the students return to school, the sooner everyone can get
back to the daily routine, the better. Returning to regular activities and classes is a
necessity during the coping process. Students who have been impacted by a traumatic
event rely on that

specifically in Central Africa. There are very few regulations placed on conflict
minerals and they are an integral part of most of the supply chains for technology
companies. In 2011 the United Statesof America issued the Dodd Frank Act, which
regulates the use of conflict minerals to a certain degree. The problem, however, lies
in the effectiveness and the real world consequences of the Dodd Frank Act, thus
alternative solutions must be explored in order to regulate the current and future use
of conflict minerals.
Conflict minerals are similar to the more commonly known blood diamonds,

Escarlin Perez Novel: New Moon June 8th, 2015
A Sacrifice for Passion. In accordance with a renowned statement that is reference by
Stephenie Meyers from the novel, New Moon, happens to entitle an astonishing
significance to the novel itself. Furthermore, the statement on page 71, from Meyers
in New Moon (said by Edward Cullen), states as follows, I promise that this will be
the last time you ll see me. I won t come back. I won t put you through anything
like this again. You can go on with your life without any more interference from
me. It will be as if I d never existed. In other words, this statement would be a great
example of the true meaning of sacrifice. Sacrifice that is, is being willing to lose
something or someone for the sake of others benefit. Sacrifice tides closely around
the statement mention by Edward Cullen in the novel referred to as, New Moon.

39. Neorealism In Bicycle Thieves, And Roberto Rossellini
Vittorio De Sica and Roberto Rossellini composed two of the most influential Italian
films of all time. Their productions of such captivating and eloquent pieces, during
critical moments in Italy s history, have shed light upon ethics and political quarrel
present after the world wars. The wars left Italyin a devastating state, the economy
ruptured, and the film industry dismantled by this detrimental catastrophe. With the
introduction of neorealist films Bicycle Thieves and Rome Open City, society
becomes acquainted with the richness of everyday life in Italy. De Sica s Bicycle
Thieves demonstrates a pure vision of neorealism, making each event as objective
as possible, reinforcing the meaningfulness of reality, and reproducing it at
exceptional degrees. On the other hand, Rossellini s Rome Open City offers a
diverse approach to neorealism, straying away from the conventional rules, depicting
Italy in light of Fascist regimes, and focusing its attention on the attitudes of
individuals in political crisis. De Sica s Bicycle Thieves, and Rosselini s Rome Open
City, are films that differ in the representation of societal values and political attitudes.
Bicycle Thieves is an alluring piece, which details the undue hardship Italy faces
after World War II (WWII) in 1948. There are various aspects within the film that
demonstrate the undeniable pure quality of De Sica s work as a neorealist picture.

Muslim women are forced into the dress code of covering from top to bottom, but
most of the Muslim women who dress in the traditional hijab, choose this because

41. Let s Not Put A Cap On It
One of the most debatable topics in Major League Baseball (MLB) is whether a
salary cap should be implemented for each team in the league. A salary cap is an
agreement between teams that places a limit on the amount of money that can be
spent on player salaries (Britana). Of the three American major professional sports,
football, baseball, and basketball, Major League Baseballis the only one that does not
have a salary cap. There is more competitiveness with baseball than any other sport.
As Demause states, Depending on whom you ask, a salary cap would save the
game, destroy the players union, provide hope for small market fans, pervert the free
market, or create a tangle or red tape that would turn every trade deadline into a...

The available resources of the teams would first have to go to salaries; if there is
any excess cash, then they could recruit, build a new stadium, or develop new
talent. Many times there would not be any available cash left after meeting the
salary floor, so these essential expenses of baseball would not be met. Talent
evaluation and development is much different in baseball than in other sports.
Baseball has many more available athletics to choose from than professional
football and basketball. The NFL has seven rounds in its draft for rookie players;
the NBA only has two. These drafts are dwarfs in comparison to the Major League
Draft which consists of fifty rounds. These fifty rounds do not even consider the
thirty percent of major league baseball players who are from outside of the United
States and Canada (Silver xliv). These players are signed as free agents with the
overwhelming majority coming from Latin America. Each major league team
usually has six minor league teams where they develop talent which is referred to
as farm teams. What this means is there a larger talent pool in baseball from which
to select players to help you win games. Baseball more than any sport, is heavily
dependent on player statistics. Advanced analytical methods called sabermetrics
throws away traditional baseball such as the batting average to a more effective way
to assess players and often used to measure future productivity (Kendrick). If a

Abstract
The objective for this paper is to evaluate the role and impact of the United Nations
peacekeeping force as it interrupts with international incidents. A background on the
creation of the United Nations and the evolution of the UN s peacekeeping will be
provided. Two United Nations peacekeeping operations (Bosnia and East Timor) will
be explained in detail and provide improvements that can contribute to future
peacekeeping missions. The strengths and weaknesses of both peacekeeping
operations will be highlighted for justification about the improvements. This
investigation will come to a conclusion for the United Nations about the implications
required for future peacekeeping missions as it has floundered in previous missions.
The Beginning of the United Nations
Before the United Nations, an international organization who thrive to prevent future
disputes through negotiation, a similar international organization was created called
the League of Nations. The League of Nations was created in 1919 as a result of the
Paris Peace Conference after World War 1. The League of Nations thrived to the
establishment of a conference which nations throughout the world can resolve their
disagreements to prevent future conflicts. However, the League of Nations was
disbanded due to the dawn of World War 2 and their unsatisfying performance
maintaining peace. On October 24th 1945, the existence of the United Nations finally
came to the world. 5 permanent members were assigned: China,
43. American Colony Lifestyles Essay examples
So close yet so far The lifestyle in the three American colonies sections, varied
dramatically, the most obvious was the difference between the New England and the
Southern colonies. The New England colonies varied in many ways from the
southern colonies, the most obvious were the motives for the founders, the political
and social beliefs, and economic differences. The New Englandcolonies were much
more interested in starting a new way of life for the generations to come, the
Southern colonies based lived for the day and the quick dollar. The Founders of the

The differences in the governmental structure affected the social classes in the
colonies. People were looked at in very different ways in New England compared
to the Southern Colonies. The social structure in the New England Colonies based
itself around family. Families would have around 8 10 children and at the same
time, people began to live after 65, compared to the average of 40 50 before.
Because of the high birthrate and the extended life expectancy, it is known as the
New England colonists that invented the modern day grandparents. In the South
there was a high rate of disease and the life expectancy was around 50 years old.
There were very few women in the south, making the women very important,
giving them more power then in the north. The southern children were rarely given
education, if any it was by tutors. In the North almost all children got education.
These factors of family lead to a change in the economic structures. The economic
aspirations of the South were greatly different then those of the New England
colonies. The New England soil was rocky and not very suitable for growing many
cash crops. New England spent a lot of its resources on raising cattle and grain,
where the South could focus on tobacco and rice. The New England colonies did a
lot of manufacturing, such as ship building, these types of jobs did not require slaves,
which reduced

Ezra Pound: The Father of Modernism
Ezra Pound has been deemed one of Poetry s most important contributors.
(Remembering Poets, 1). T.S. Eliot and Donald Hall both believed Ezra Pound to be
the biggest influence on poetry of his time. (Poetry.org, 1). He was dedicated to his
work, and from a young age, until his death in 1972, he worked tirelessly, creating
poetry that some deigned controversial, whether aesthetically or politically. Those
who did not find these controversial, the critics, the public, were too scared to read
his works. Pound however, never let any of this keep him from continuing to pursue
his dreams and do what he loved, writing poetry. Instead, he concentrated on
advancing his art and maintaining his standards with his aesthetics, while speaking
out against these naysayers, showing them that he was not intimidated by his
adversaries.

45. Why I Chose to Become a Mental Health Counselor Essay
Why I chose to become a mental health counselor
Counseling others is a difficult job that requires people to listen, take notes, and
respond in ways that are positive and helpful. It is important that trust be built
between the counselor and the patient so that the patient will feel comfortable
speaking about issues that are private or embarrassing. There are many different
types of counselors including drug counselors; marriage counselors, grief
counselors, job counselors, diet and exercise counselors, and others that can help
people improve their lives in different ways. Counselors are trained to offer advice
and listen to issues that may be bothering other people. They are not allowed to

They help people address aging problems or emotional and mental health issues.
Often working with a group, they counsel individuals and their families dealing with
drug or alcohol addictions. The counselor helps their clients prevent and rectify
conflicts or problems. A mental health counselorgets his or her information through
observations, interviews and tests so they can decide the best course of action to
help their client. Some of the other professionals they work closely with when
necessary are psychologists, family and marriage workers, psychiatric nurses, school
counselors, psychiatrists, and social workers. Many counselors choose to specialize
in specific areas or with certain age groups like substance abuse or teenagers.
A mental health counselor often helps their clients make positive choices and
changes due to the decisions and insights they help facilitate. Many counselors work
in hospitals with psychiatric patients or with mentally ill adults in continued day
treatment programs. Some choose private practice or practice in counseling centers,
government agencies, and corporations and youth homes. They usually work in
pleasant and comfortable surroundings, working a standard workweek. Some
counselors are available weekends or evenings for the convenience and needs of their
clients. Mental health counselors are an extremely valuable part of the healthcare
system.

47. Examples Of Porter s Diamond Theory
What is Porter s Diamond framework regarding the theory? Porter s Diamond
emerged as a model to explain why a nation can successfully achieve international
success in a particular industry. In short, diamond model is a micro analysis tool to
identify core competitiveness of a nation and region. According to Porter in his book
The Competitive Advantage of Nations , the theory begins from individual industries
and competitors and builds up to the economy as a whole, where the outcome of
struggles in individual industries will determined economy of the nation s state and
the way it progressed. Diamond model become a significant contribution to economic
theory that embraces the essences of economic theories in the past. These all includes
the thought result of all major economists of the past two and half centuries, starting
from Adam Smith with Absolute Advantage Theory, Comparative Advantage Theory
by David Ricardo, Hecksher, Ohlin, and Vernon. The main research of Porter is
centralized in his statement that the national prosperity is gained and not inherited
(Porter, 1990). Based on this statement, Porter disagree with traditional economic...

All Summer In a Day Essay
An author himself knows his landscape best; he can stand around, smell the wind,
get a feel for his place. Tony Hillman. Ray Bradbury, the author of award winning
fictions such as Fahrenheit 451 and Dark They Were and Golden Eyed , wrote
stories with incredible details. His story All Summer In a Day takes place on the
planet Venus where it is always dark and rainy. All Summer In a Day focuses on the
main character Margot who has moved from Earth; it also focuses on how Margot s
previous life on Earth separates her from the other children. Bradbury uses the
setting on Venus in an array of ways, all of which give the story more depth, he uses
the location to create characters and to set the mood of the ... Show more content on

When describing Venus s landscape Ray writes, Athousand forests had been
crushed under the rain and grown up a thousand times to be crushed again, (page
1). This creates a sense of hopelessness in the reader because the forests can be
interpreted as a metaphor that represents the population of Venus. On Venus all the
children want is to be able to run and play freely in the sunshine. However they are
oppressed by the rain. This can be related to the forests because all though the rain
caused many struggles both the forests and the people went on with life in hopes to
see the sun again. Then, later on in the story the mood changes when the text says,
... they thought the remembered a warmness, like a blushing in the face, in the
body, in the arms and legs and trembling hands, (page 2). By using figurative
language Bradbury helps his audience feel as if they re experiencing these
sensations with the students. The warmth of the sun represents life and compassion
so when the children think they feel it they are content, this makes the audience feel
joyful as well. However the vision of summer soon fades when the author says, ...
they awoke to the tatting drum, the endless shaking down of clear bead necklaces
upon the roof, the walk, the gardens, the forests, and their dreams we re gone, (page

I never made the same mistake again (Wetherell 35). A Sound of Thunder by Ray
Bradbury and The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant by W.D Wetherell are
contrastive short stories, but they have their similarities. The characters Sheila
Mant from W.D Wetherell s short story and Eckels from Ray Bradbury s short
story have some resemblance. The authors of both short stories use literary
devices, literary elements, and also express the theme of choices have
consequences. The narrator s affection for a girl named Sheila Mant in Wetherell s
short story and her actions foreshadows what later happens. On the way to the
concert, there was largemouth bass flipping around in the water, and Shelia made a
face and said, I think fishing is dumb. I mean, it s boring and all. Definitely dumb
(Wetherell 33). The narrator is passionate about fishing, and he finds out the girl he
has an enormous crush on did not have the similar enthusiasm for fishing as he does.

is not the one, she did not even care about him, and he lost the most massive bass in
his life because of her. He learns the consequence of his actions and states he will
never make the same mistake again. Likewise, Wetherell s short story demonstrations
the identical theme but in an altered form. No, it can t be. Not a little thing like that

future. He chose to be ignorant and not be careful of his actions during the time

50. Persuasive Speech On Precision Medicine
We live in a world we re we have many diseases. We worry how we re going to cure
all these diseases. Many families have struggled and lost there really close loved
ones because of diseases we don t have cured for. There s so many people with
down syndrome or cancer, and families are scared because they don t know what to
do with this situation. Well our scientists are trying to help this world by advancing
more of our precision medicine. This will benefit and help us find a better way to
find the right medicine for the right disease. With the help of human s knowledge
and technology, this will help advance our medical field and help us saved millions
of life. (Weill Cornell Medicine)
So what is this thing we re talking about that could save millions of life? Well we re
talking about Precision Medicine. Precision medicine is a way of having a certain
type of medicine that will work best for a specific disease. It s not only on specific
disease but also specific person; scientist will analyze your genes, environment, and
DNA to find the certain medicine for you. For example, if I am sick with lung
cancer, doctor and scientist will look through my genes and how I lived life to find
the more precise and most effective medicine.
This is why precision medicine will be a huge help to our world because we have
more diseases we don t know of and how are we going to cure those? With precision
medicine we could make our world a better place. (WebMD, 1)
What are the updates we have today about precision medicine? Today we have a lot
of medicine for certain diseases. But some of those medicines are just temporary, a
tumor could grow back after you get it remove. Also there is more diseases we don t
have cure for, and we also don t know all the diseases that could be out there so this
we re precision medicine will be
the most impactful to our world. Although we use high technology today and use
medical records, we need to be more precise so that we could find the accurate
medicine. (WebMD)
What does the future hold for precision medicine? The future for precision medicine
has a big potential to be efficient. As the world s technology advances and more
knowledge will be known about medicine. We will be able to find more

ActiveX Data Objects (ADO), in .Net framework ADO.Net is a set of classes to

set of components to create distribution and data sharing applications. Using
ADO.Net we can create front end database clients and data access layer to use by the

relational database systems such as SQL, Oracle and so on.
ADO.Net is very powerful framework to use for accessing data. It has been in the

traditional ADO.Net, which enable developer to develop data access application by
using a conceptual data model instead of directly connecting to the relational

In winter, the snow can be a hassle but the ice is what can be more challenging.
Imagine how challenging it can be for an airport when dealing with the ice on not

method for a while now, but it is not the most efficient way out there, nor is it the
cheapest. There are a few reasons why aircrafts must be de iced before take off in
order to ensure that the aircraft is safe to fly. The current solution to de ice an
aircraft is inefficient and rather expensive, while there is a much better way to

The program has had times noted of ranging between 28 minutes to 43 minutes for

Comparing that to the hour or hour and a half it takes to de ice a plane in the
conventional way, this seems like a better system already just based on the amount
of time it takes to do the job. Toronto Pearson has rivalled that by building a
massive de icing facility where they can de ice 11 planes at once, and have another 11

The World s Wife is a collection of poems by Carol Anne Duffy published in 1999.
Throughout Duffy s collection of the poems she represents women from history,
myths and fairy tales, particularly those whose stories tend to be defined by men, or
who have only a cameo appearance in male dominated scenarios. The Worlds Wife
collection explores the themes of sexism, inequality and stereotypes, which women,
sadly still face in modern society. In Duffy s collection some poems look at the story
of the man from a womans perspective, such as the poem Mrs Aesop . Other poem s
stories have been slightly altered like The Kray Sisters. As we already know the

circumstances and encouraged me to practice medicinewith culturally sensitivity.
As a volunteer, I scribed, organized the stock medications, and mentored incoming
